Excuse me but… this man right here makes my thighs quiver. 🫶🏻🔥🥵🔥
LOOK AT THIS MAN. I remember my hubby wanting to watch Tulsa King and I saw him in the cast and agreed immediately.
But, yes, Mitch Keller...
With that deep rumble of a voice that would immediately make your knees buckle if he spoke to you. Maybe a flirty smirk when he sees exactly what his voice is doing to you. The filthy things he'd grunt in your ear whether he has you pinned town or taking you from behind and the praise he'd give you after he's done wrecking you.
The tattoo on his arm just begging for you to touch it. He tells you all about every mark on his body when the two of you are in bed together, his voice soft and low and you can't help but hang on every word. You don't even realize you're tracing one with your fingers until he gently smiles.
Hair made for pulling when he's between your thighs because tell me that man doesn't eat you like he hasn't eaten in days. Maybe the bar after closing time, pushing your legs apart so you're nice and open for him. And getting that goatee nice and wet just the way he likes because he loves the taste and smell of you.
Hands he isn't afraid to get dirty. He'll fight, scrap, do what he has to. But you? The calloused touch is tender and he's almost afraid he'll taint you. He could never.
UGH. I need him. PLEASE.
Love and thanks! ❤️

There’ve been criticisms about Darry being too mean or too cruel in the musical, and I get where those people are coming from, but — and speaking as someone who hasn’t seen or listened to it but has listened to the soundtrack and follows the information account like the paper — I think this phenomenon stems from two things
First, on the side of the discussers, a lack of exposure to the musical as an actual piece of material instead of (occasionally very out of context) lines or screenshots. Obviously seeing the musical, even if one lived in New York, would be expensive as all get out, and even audios and boots are pretty hard to find for this show, but there are many details and contexts that change how lines on the page should be interpreted that simply cannot be gleaned through, well, lines on the page. As someone who has dabbled in acting & directing, and has spent time analyzing play texts in depth, delivery and direction can change everything. The entire sentiment of a line can be the opposite of what you’d expect if you took the line at face value, and unless that’s explicit in the stage directions, it can go unrealized if one is merely reading the script (which, as an aside, is exactly why I find analyzing play excerpts tricky — because without a performance or direction, scripts are often so ambiguous and versatile that they could go any way). And honestly, despite also being someone who unfortunately does not benefit from first hand knowledge of the musical, I feel like this is very evident in discussion of Darry in the show. For example, none of his lines in, say, Runs in the Family (Reprise) should be taken at face value, because if you’ve even listened to the song you can tell he’s completely spiralling and hitting a breaking point. This is a state that, historically, causes people to say things they’d never believe in real life. We’re not meant to believe Darry would ever walk out on his brothers, we’re meant to hear him talk about it and understand how deep of a breakdown he is having. As a less obvious example, from what people online have said, Darry spends the last twenty or so minutes of the musical in tears. Again, the things he says here aren’t necessarily the things he believes, or things that he’s expressing coolly or off-handedly because they line up 1:1 with his worldview, they’re things he says when he’s desperate and struggling and has no idea what the correct path is when his brother & responsibility has effectively been comatose since the deaths
Which brings me to my next point!
One of the most known things about the musical, even to people who aren’t very familiar with it, is that it goes more in-depth on Darry’s trials and tribulations, so to speak. He gets one solo at status quo, another (mostly) solo when he gets his breakdown, and a (mostly) duet in his own self-described darkest hour during Pony’s absence. All three of these songs go into detail about what his life is like and how much he’s been struggling, and even songs that aren’t about him emphasize this feature of his more than in the book: his description by Ponyboy in Tulsa ’67 & Great Expectations reminding the audience of his life’s path, his verse in GGAH making it clear that his life is a very different one with arguably more severe burdens compared to the other boys. Other than the three most important characters of the original narrative, he is now undoubtedly the most important and developed character — which makes sense in a musical format, because with the story of The Outsiders it would’ve been pretty much impossible to do a true ensemble cast other than the main three while doing any of them justice, especially if they’d kept Steve as a principle (rip king). But I digress. In my opinion, being clearer on Darry’s hardships actually gives the musical space to show him as saying crueller things, to have him make more mistakes and mess up worse. In the book, we’re clearly meant to sympathize with him by the end, but we only get Ponyboy’s infamously flawed and unreliable narration as the lense through which to view him. As such, if we went too hard into Darry messing up, while 3/4 of the book have Ponyboy going “yeah Darry’s a rock and doesn’t love me or anyone”, he ultimately would’ve come across a lot worse and a lot harder to “redeem” in the eyes of the reader (personally I never disliked him, but I’ve seen enough accounts of people who hated him on their first go at the story to know it is not an uncommon sentiment). He already slaps his brother and argues with him all the time; it would’ve been even more legwork to make him liked if he’d also been saying harsher things and making more mistakes. In the musical, however, we get that objective perspective that’s missing in the book. Ponyboy’s not narrating to us the lyrics of Throwing in the Towel, he’s not even present for the events of Throwing in the Towel! It’s a lot easier to understand and forgive mistakes if one is familiar with the psyche behind those mistakes, and the musical delivers that psyche to us at every turn. Because the audience understands Darry Curtis and how hard it is for him to hold on, the audience also has more understanding and forgiveness for when he’s spiralling. It’s also just a more specific proof of his plight — three songs with first-hand, emotionally explicit lyrics penetrate the uninvested understanding a lot easier than a second-party description of circumstances. Due to its nature and promotion of Darry’s importance, the musical simply gets more freedom to show an arguably more realistic version of him.
Also, I do believe that Darry in the musical is just that much closer to the edge than he is in the book, which is a valid character choice in an inherently emotional and transformative medium such as the musical adaptation 🤷🏻‍♀️

The Tulsa King Boys as Boyfriends
This is my first ever post on Tumblr, but I am way too obsessed with this show to not share my fluffy thoughts. I know most of the cast are oooold, but I just couldn’t help myself!
The gifs and pictures are not my own, I sourced these through Tumblr and Google.
Tumblr media
 Tyson Mitchell
·        He’s your biggest cheerleader. You just got a new job? He’ll sing your praises from the rooftop. Nailed a big presentation? He’ll whoop and cheer you on, and take you out to dinner to celebrate. Nothing you accomplish is ever too small to be missed. Even if you’re having a bad day and all you managed to do was get out of bed and brush your teeth? Tyson’ll order takeout, rent your favourite movie and turn the living room into a giant pillow fort to celebrate you making it from the bed to the couch.
·        He’s absolutely in awe of everything you do and he loves telling anyone and everyone about you. His family at the dinner table, Dwight while he’s driving him around, the old lady in the fruit section of the supermarket – he’ll tell them all just how amazing he thinks you are.
·        He’s always trying to make you laugh; and he always succeeds. He’s constantly telling jokes – the cheesier, the better. Even when he isn’t telling jokes, he’ll do or say something that has you belly laughing until tears roll down your cheeks. This guy is a class clown, but he’s your clown, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
·        He LOOOVES PDA. He can’t himself. He always holds your hands when you’re out, and he can’t resist pulling you in for a kiss right there in the middle of the street. He loves to cuddle you from behind, wrapping his arms around your waist and dotting kisses up your neck. He doesn’t care who’s around or who he does it in front of. He loves you, and he doesn’t want to hide it.
·        He treats you like an absolute princess. He’s constantly showering you with gifts. Sometimes they’re big, like expensive gifts perfume or a dress you saw in the window of a boutique. But Tyson also knows that you appreciate the little things. If he sees your favourite candy bar, he’ll buy you some. If you’re having trouble sleeping, he’ll pick up some lavender bubble bath and a nice candle so you can relax in the tub (but he’ll 100% join you). He loves spoiling you, but he knows that money isn’t everything. Sometimes he’ll leave notes around the house for you to find with a cute saying, or a funny joke. He loves making you know just how loved you are.
Tumblr media
 Mitch Keller
·        Mitch is a pretty private person. It takes him a while to open up to you, but once he does, you forge a connection like you’ve never had before. You spend countless evenings in Bred 2 Buck, sipping on beer and talking about anything and everything. His time in prison meant he spent a lot of time thinking, and he loves to share those thoughts with you. He also enjoys telling you about his time as a bull-rider, reliving his glory days and making you laugh at some of his stories and gasp in shock at others. Mitch is a great storyteller and you could sit for hours listening to his deep, honey coated Southern drawl.
·        Mitch isn’t a fan of PDA, but there are times when he cant help but softly caress your thigh under the table while you’re at the bar, or hold your hand while you drag him around another early morning farmers market (which he loves, but he’d never admit). However, when you’re alone, he’s constantly pulling you close for deep, tender kisses. His loves to run his hands through your hair, stroke your cheek and pepper kisses on your nose and forehead. He’s incredibly cuddly at home and his favourite thing is snuggling under a blanket on the sofa while he plays with your hair.
·        When it comes to giving gifts, Mitch is incredibly sentimental. He didn’t have much money growing up, and he knows that it’s the little things that matter. He might not treat you to fancy, expensive gifts, but you can guarantee he’ll write you endless songs on the guitar and perform them over a candlelit dinner. He’ll run you a bath with your favourite products or take you for a picnic on a sunny day (and he’ll have made all the food from scratch).
·        Mitch loves to just sit back and take you all in. The way your hair shines in the hot Tulsa sun, the sound of your laugh as you sit on the porch watching the sun set, the sparkle in your eyes when he names a cocktail after you at the bar and makes it for you every time you come to visit (even though Tyson has been dying to have one named after him). These are the things that bring him pleasure. He never felt himself to be worthy of love, and no matter how long the two of you have been together, he can’t quite believe how the hell he ended up so lucky.
·        Mitch is a family man and he wants to provide for you. You know that no matter what, you and his dad come first. If you’ve had a long day at work, he’ll take care of dinner and the dishes. If you’re feeling down, he’ll put on your favourite show and sit through the entire thing, even if it’s not what he enjoys. He wants to make you happy, because in his eyes, you’ve made him the happiest man alive. He’ll spend the rest of his life trying to make you smile.
Tumblr media
 Armand Truisi
·        Armand is pretty shy. After an unhappy marriage to his ex, his confidence took a hit. It took him months to work up the courage to ask you out, and he stumbled over his words on the first two dates because he was so nervous. He was sure he’d blown it, but you thought it was cute. He used to second-guess himself a lot, but after realising that you genuinely think his jokes are funny, and that you really do enjoy the Sicilian pasta he makes, his confidence is growing.
·        Armand has a huge love for interior design. He always said he bought the interior design courses for his ex, but you know he poured over the books after she went to bed. He has a soft spot for Art Deco and took you to the Art Deco Museum in Tulsa for your fourth date. It’s now become a favourite place for the both of you. You could listen to him for hours while he talks about the time period, the famous art pieces and how much he loves certain pieces of furniture.
·        Armand is a hard worker. He loves his job at the ranch, and he loves working for Dwight. However, no matter how tired he is, or how long he’s been awake, he’ll always make time for you. If he gets home just as you’re getting up, he’ll make you a cup of coffee and chat to you while you get ready for the day. If he’s working at the ranch on a Saturday, he’ll bring you along and let you spend time with the horses, offering you free riding lessons and showing you how to reshoe a horse. He’s good at what he does, and he’s a natural teacher.
·        Armand is like a nervous teenager when it comes to PDA. He wants to hold your hand and shower you with kisses, but he’s conscious of doing it in public. At home he loves to slow dance. He’ll put on a record (that you picked up at a local vintage fair) and slow dance you round the living room. Armand’s a good dancer, and he’ll spin you round and round until you’re dizzy, dipping you low to the ground as the song ends and kissing you softly.
·        Armand’s a homebody through and through. There’s nothing he loves more than mowing his lawn, tending his garden and doing DIY around the house. You love to watch him as he works, and he pretends like he doesn’t notice you staring, but he’ll stand a little taller when he pushes the mower, or he’ll flex his biceps a little harder while he’s his screwing that cabinet door back on. He much prefers an evening in than going out. He’s forever cooking you new dishes that he’s discovered, or playing you old records. He’s a huge fan of classic movies and he introduces you to a new one every weekend, usually under the comfort of a blanket with a big bowl of popcorn.
Tumblr media
 Goodie Carangi
·        Despite his tough exterior, Goodie is a teddy bear. He acts all tough out in public but at home, there’s nothing he loves more than resting his head on your lap while you run your hands through his hair. He’s not afraid to let his guard down at home and will happily watch rom coms with you (but he’ll never admit it in front of the guys).
·        Goodie enjoys the finer things in life, and he loves treating you to them as well. He’s the first one to know about the latest, fanciest restaurant and you can bet he’s booked the best seats in the house. He goes all out for your birthday and Christmas, buying you the fanciest clothes and jewellery. Gift giving his definitely his love language and he has no problem showering you with presents.
·        Goodie HATES flying, but he wants to treat you to weekends away. You take the train a lot, visiting towns and cities throughout America, staying in the most luxurious hotels and dining in the fanciest restaurants. He really wants to whisk you away to Italy though, and he’s working on his fear of flying. He’s always refused to travel by air, but he knows how badly you want to fly somewhere special, and he’s willing to work on his phobia for you.
·        At first, Goodie comes across as no-nonsense. But behind closed doors he’s goofy, and has more than a few cheesy jokes up his sleeve. He loves making you laugh and can command a whole room with his stories. He’s a charmer, and he knows when to be serious and when he can loosen up a bit.
·        Goodie is a great listener, and he gives incredible advice (that was his job with the Invernizzi family, after all). If you’re having a bad day, he’ll pull up a chair, make you your favourite drink listen while you tell him your problems. He always knows exactly what to say and gives you multiple points of view to help you make the best decision.
Tumblr media
 Dwight Manfredi
·        After 25 years in prison, this man is TOUCH STARVED! However, he’s old school and isn’t a fan of PDA. At home however, he’s always kissing you on your lips or cheek, wrapping you up in warm, tender cuddles and he loves to hold hands while you’re snuggled up in front of the TV.
·        Dwight is a gentleman and you can always expect him to open the car door for you, hold open the doors to restaurants and shops, and pull out your chair when you sit down for dinner. He’ll have a cup of coffee waiting for you when you wake up and an ice cold glass of wine waiting when you get home. This man knows it’s the little things that count and he’ll never take you for granted.
·        Dwight’s an avid reader, having spent the last 25 years reading anything he could get his hands on. He loves the classics – Jane Austin, Charles Dickens and Emily Bronte. He loves reading to you in front of the fire with a glass of wine in his hand. He could spend hours in bookshops and he loves it when you recommend him a book you’ve enjoyed.
·        Dwight likes to treat you, but he knows that gifts can be superficial. Whenever he get you something, you know it comes from the heart. If you have a favourite pastry at a particular caffe, he’ll head out early and buy you a box while they’re still warm and fresh. If he knows you have a favourite author, he’ll wait in line to buy their new book as soon as it comes out and he’ll absolutely find a way to track that author down and have the book personally signed.
·        Dwight knows he missed out so many opportunities and experiences while he was in prison, and he wants to see and do everything with you. He’s always whisking you off to the latest exhibitions, or on weekends away to places you could only dream of. He loves watching the sun rise and he’ll wake you up gently so you can enjoy it on the porch together, a cup of steaming Italian coffee in your hands.

Hmmm, so I've heard about the whole people talking about Cordell Walker and Russell Shaw fanfic they want to show up going back to the same tattoos they have. I know they and Jeffrey Dean Morgan all got the crown tattoos together in 2019 but it seems to me Jared just joined in while they were discussing what tattoo they wanted. Jensen got it because it was a nod to being crowned Mardi Gras king that year. Jeff specifically requested for that design to be included as an available design, so it's clear he was going to probably get it from the start.
It seems Jared decided to join in to get this tattoo as Jensen and Jeffrey were looking to get that tattoo. They affectionately called themselves the 3 kings but I just find it interesting that had Jared not seen them at the tattoo stand in the wedding looking at tattoo designs, would he also have gotten this tattoo? Seems like it's possible he didn't want to feel left out. The crown tattoo in question contains a W in it and is said to stand for Winchester.
Hmmm, funny how JDM and Jensen got matching tattoos without Jared at another wedding in Tulsa, Oklahoma but all 3 did get this crown tattoo together. I don't think this is a so called J2 thing like people are proclaiming it to be. Jared wanted to get it because he saw them and realized they were getting it and didn't want to feel left out. In other words, Jared wasn't originally part of this conversation or part of the said "plan" to get matching tattoos but instead joined in. Sure they may not have minded Jared joining in to get this tattoo but facts are, it was NOT the original conversation.
Bottom line, people please get your facts straight.

Reviews:
“These declarations of self from women and queer characters fit so elegantly into the mythology Alterici uses to weave her tale, it reminds us that these narratives belonged there all along.”- The Mary Sue
“I want epics with female leads, and fortunately HEATHEN fulfills that desire in a big way, while also adding its own unique touch with themes that are as contemporary as they are timeless.”- Women Write About Comics
“One look at the cover and I knew this book was right up my alley. If you are into Norse mythology and aching for a lesbian angle, then this book is for you. If you want a love story that is more than a romance, a heroine that is truly honourable and fierce, then I urge you to pick this … up.”- The Lesbian Review
“Natasha Alterici's Heathen, has single-handedly redeemed the disaster that pop culture has been making of Norse mythology. It’s a smart, funny, feminist, queer and sex-positive take on the Viking world; one with a wide cast of diverse and endearing characters. Heathen is a must-read for comics (and mythology) lovers of all sorts and those in quest of superb queer and feminist comics in particular. RATING: 10/10”- Pop Matter

What was your inspiration for writing your graphic novel?
Heathen began with a simple Ren Faire costume design, I wanted to go as a barbarian, and the outfit I came up with wasn't far off from what Aydis wears in the book. After that I found myself drawing it again and again, and realized it was developing into a character. So the next steps were obvious; give her a horse and then write her a story.
List your favorite graphic novels or comics from when you were a child and talk about how you see them as an adult.
I never got the chance to read any comics as a kid. I was too busy obsessing over a different Eyewitness book every month and then later Mary Higgins Clark mysteries and Lurlene McDaniel romance books. I got into comics in college after my English Comp teacher assigned Maus, and from there I sought out the classics like V for Vendetta, Persepolis, and some Sandman. I've always been a seasonal kind of reader, sometimes I'm devouring everything I can, other times I almost forget books exist. Just how I'm wired I suppose.
List your favorite graphic novels this year and why you like them.
I've honestly only read one so far this year, but it was a great one! Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me by Mariko Tamaki and Rosemary Valero-O'Connell. It's so refreshing to read about queer characters who are neither role models nor tragedies (both are perfectly valid, just oversaturated). They're just normal kids with normal relationship problems that they have to learn to navigate. I really enjoy down-to-earth stories like that.
Talk about your favorite kind of character to write about
I love messy flawed characters, the kind who want to be better but aren't quite sure how to go about it. I also love writing flirty characters, they're hands down the most fun to write. And if a flirt happens to be messy and flawed themself, well that's the perfect combination.
Talk about your least favorite kind of character to write about
This is a difficult one, because if I were to describe the kind of character I don't like I'd inevitably be describing the kind of people I don't like  and I try to find the likable part of anyone I'm writing. Otherwise it's hard to empathize with them, and empathy is the most important part. I guess I'd say I find it hard to write about people who find joy in being cruel.
Describe your ideal writing space.
Comfy chair with a foot rest, view of the forest or a field, music playing, unlimited access to some kind of sweet treat like peach rings or twizzlers, and plants to fuss over while I run through scenes and dialog in my head.
Describe your ideal home library.
I'd love to have floor to ceiling shelves, with one of those rolling ladders. Everything is organized by Library of Congress call number system (I worked as a university librarian for a while), and it's dust and mold free somehow. And there's a big pile of cushions and pillows to lay in to read.
What are some of your favorite video games?
I'm really into Ark: Survival Evolved right now, I enjoy finding and taming all my favorite dinosaurs and building things. I also play Phasmophobia, Minecraft, Katamari, House Flipper, and I like colony sim games like Oxygen Not Included and Banished.

Tulsa King (TV series, 2023)
Tumblr media
An aging mobster, freshly released from prison, is exiled to Oklahoma, where he makes new acquaintances and sets up in business for himself.
______________________
Other people have pointed out that this show is very much a shinier, bigger budget, less funny and more dumbed-down "Lilyhammer", and that's pretty close to the truth. But it's also very watchable, for the most part, and really just good old-fashioned fun.
The thing it seems most reminiscent of at the moment is the massively successful Top Gun: Maverick, in that it doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, or crowbar in modern and divisive politics, it simply takes tried and tested formulas of 80s and 90s action movies and TV shows and lovingly expands upon them. None of what happens here would really have been out of place in an episode of The Dukes of Hazzard, or Miami Vice, or even Dallas, it's just all executed at a slower, more grown-up, reflective and meaningful pace.
The thing that really hits you, right from the start, is that this might be the first time Sylvester Stallone has tried acting since Cop Land, 25 years ago now, and he's excellent in this, every inch a star. The rest of the cast are perfectly competent on a TV show-level, but their parts are underwritten and no-one else really stands out that much: it's Stallone's show all the way.
Morally, it's all rather repulsive, with the motivations of greed and a little bit of revenge being as deep as it gets, and the ramifications of all the crimes and murders are never dealt with at all. The question of whether these people have made the world a better or worse place through their actions is not touched upon with a bargepole, and as a result never at any time approaches the quality of even an average episode of something like Breaking Bad or The Sopranos.
On top of that, the first season is wrapped up stupidly fast, with two sets of bad guys being dealt with and resolved in such a perfunctory manner that it removes any weight from the proceedings and fails to repay the audience's investment in the story they've been following for 6 hours. The repeated use of a famous Phil Collins song in the last episode is as pointless and out of place as what others have been calling the "cocaine leprechaun" bad boss, who is memorably-acted but as shallow as a puddle and surely would seem much more at home in a recent Steven Seagal effort.
The show gets more and more unbelievable as it goes on, until the wheels fall off somewhat at the end, but for all the above, it's still a genuinely enjoyable time-waster almost all the way through. And, as I say, Stallone is startlingly good in it; just don't expect anything more than a bit of far-fetched fun.

I Like to Watch | Barbarian (2022)
by Don Hall
Both Tarantino and Scorsese have bemoaned the lack of imagination throttling film these days. Their argument is that Hollywood behemoths like Marvel and the proliferation of tentpole green screen filmmaking, with the amount of money at stake even to get a project green lit, the risk taking required for innovation is squashed. I hear that and, despite my love for all things super-powered beings on screen, I'd further argue that a solid portion of the blame falls on the amazing democratization of filmmaking via streaming.
In the rush for more to watch (hastened by the pandemic), movies have become content and content requires less in terms of innovation and more in terms of, well, more. The result is a parade of half-baked star vehicles that look phenomenal but ask someone to tell you what it was they saw the night before on Netflix and most can't recount the story just the star power. What was the plot of The Grey Man? Or Red Notice? Or any of the Chris's movies about Navy Seals and CIA agents combatting a corrupt system? A benefit of more money shoved into streaming is that we get more film and television created and directed by and featuring Black, Asian, and Latino talent but with more comes the inevitable leveling stick that increased projects from these communities automatically equals more crap, too.
For every One Night in Miami, there's a Till, the first a highly imaginative take on historical fiction, the other a soap opera of long portrait shots of grief surrounded by a story we already knew. For every Parasite we are forced to sit through some other Netflix show from Korea that is mostly an ape of other, better shows but are seriously difficult to distinguish from four others pumped out of the content machine.
The one genre that finds some purchase in the territory of risk (because it simply costs less to make) is horror. Since before the 1980's, horror filmmakers have worked with less resource to create more memories than nearly any other. John Carpenter revolutionized things by cranking out genuinely scary, incredibly successful horror movies, on a shoestring budget. Plainly, horror is the genre where risk is rewarded time and time again.
I'd heard the rumblings about Zach Cregger's directorial debut Barbarian. I saw the trailer with Georgina Campbell and Bill Skarsgård dancing around the Fincheresque premise of two people accidentally being booked in the same AirBnB at night in the rain. I didn't read much about it but the buzz was there and, from my vantage, no one was revealing much except that Justin Long was in there somewhere and the third act was fucking nuts. I put it on my list (but first I needed to watch Andor, The Peripheral, Tulsa King, something amazing with Gerard Butler and his missing wife, and another Netflix show about a true crime.
I did find time for Ty West's X and found it to be a great ride, smartly imitating the grind house movies of the 1970's and an unusual villain boiled down to an old horny lady who murders the young cast of porn stars because they make her feel undesired as if my third ex-wife was 90-years old demanding orgasms from an decreasingly interested pool of clients until killing them is just better than a dildo. Mia Goth surprised me as both the starry-eyed porn ingenue and the homicidal Pearl but I knew going in that it was the old broad doing the murders. It was still incredibly creative and used the now cookie cut tropes of modern horror with a spin and a dip that made it fresh, gross, funny, and unlike many other content available.
According to interviews, Cregger was inspired by the idea that women should trust their intuition when it comes to red flags in their everyday interactions with men. He wrote one scene that used as many of those red flags as possible, settling on the premise of a young woman in Detroit for a job interview who finds herself sharing a rental with a complete stranger. Again, a premise Fincher would run with but Cregger hit a wall. Where to go with this slice of potential toxic maleness that wasn't obvious? He then changed it up and decided that the first act would Fincher and the third act would be Raimi. The result is a movie that comes off as one-third thriller, one-third set up, and one-third monster movie.
In a recent I Like to Watch Podcast, co-host Donnie Smith and I talk at length about one of my favorite scary movies, Victor Salva's 2001 Jeepers Creepers. The first half feels like a standard slasher film, following cliches of that specific narrative but then makes a left turn into straight up monster movie and the switch makes it truly fun. Also starring Justin Long, it remains an annual viewing for me.
Barbarian leaves me with a similar WHAT THE FUCK, DUDE? feeling that I love. Like X, the monster revealed is an old woman but she is preverbal and instead of wanting to get busy with her victims and kills those who deny her this, she wants her victims to be her children and, when they reject her maternal instincts by refusing to be breastfed by a grotesque teet, well, the kid has to die, right? Adding to the second act is Long as a sitcom star recently accused of raping a co-star (and, unambiguously was definitively guilty of the crime) who owns the AirBnB. Cregger thus presents us with a heroine who discovers the horror followed by an idiot who then rediscovers the same horror, the first we're routing for, the second we want to see some comeuppance.
This is a truly imaginative, risky film. The script is great, the performances (especially Campbell) are stellar, and nothing about this smart, idea-driven monster movie is anything but outside the box. I finished it and, instead of then moving on to another movie or streaming show, I just wanted to sit with it, stewing on the concepts, reliving the moments I didn't expect (one of my favorite scenes involves Campbell, having escaped and calling the Detroit police only to have the cops look at her as if she were on crack or nuts rather than rush into the breach like movie cops usually do—her shock at their disbelief feels like reality which is always a solid surprise in a story of fantastical twists), and wishing I could rewatch it for the first time.
Tarantino and Scorsese have a point but it isn't that there is no more imagination happening. With the glut of content, like Nick Cage's pig in the brilliant (and unexpected) Pig, you have to dig in the mud to find those truffles, gang.

Msg me if you want to play Yu-Gi-Oh duel links or send me money so I can get my phone replaced, it has a cracked screen. The city of Tulsa is using the homeless as guinea pigs for psychological experiments, I know because I've been apart of it for a year and it gets worse the more I talk about it. My phones are always being monitored I know because I purposely do things to prove it every day. The idea is to chew people and spit them out, milk them for what they're worth for mindfuckery and just let the problems take care of themselves (either they die or go to prison before they can expose the largescale inhumane psychological experimention that's designed to be unbelievable in the first place so normie wagecucks will think you're crazy for talking about it anyway) Anyway it's fucking excruciatingly terrible and exhausting and I am accepting donations or helicopter rides out of here before it all explodes because this city is on the tipping point of civil war and I'm purposely forcing the world government to either disappear me or leave me alone after giving me free housing and a monthly check of at least a thousand dollars, by the way QuikTrip is also involved in the downtown Tulsa psychic war that I'm both a pawn and a king in, and I know when and why birds are going to make different sounds because I learned how to communicate with them a few months ago while I was high on dxm and meth, also I know when a vehicle blocks away is going to make different sounds and why because I discovered that cities are living organisms you can communicate with after a witch injected me with a bunch of meth which is one of the reasons I'm being gangstalked and experimented on by bad actors, I'm too powerful and I talk about my powers and teach people about what's going on in Tulsa and afaik the rest of the world. Anyway I tapped into the rhythm of the universe after smoking an eight ball and now I know how to program birds and communicate with sign posts and sewer grates, by the way don't go to church because they are all run by satanic spiritual vampires and we are all really living in a hellish world being demolished on the spiritual plane by demonic forces; the physical plane is an illusion crafted by the demiurge and the world is under the control of Satan who by the way is responsible for the death of not only christ but any human or life on earth that threatens his rule, it's all part of a larger human extinction eugenics plan that I don't even have to explain because it's all gotten so ridiculous to the point that local news channels can just run commercials for a testosterone boosting supplement called eugenics with an all white rich suburbanite cast and no one questions it. By the way global warming has been intentional this entire time; it turns out that when you stick a piece of metal in a furnace it absorbs and reflects the heat (it's a car analogy; when you cover the whole world in concrete and fill that world with chunks of metal which you can call cars, the entire world becomes a convection oven and then all the ice caps melt after the oceans boil) I know and can mime what people are going to say even with my back turned to them, this extends to music I've never heard before and live tv broadcasts. I had alien knowledge downloaded to my brain while high on acid and I have uploaded my consciousness to the power grid while high on dxm and nitrous oxide. Drugs are illegal because they allow people to supercharge their brains and realize modes of perception that make them ungovernable. The world is run by evil masonic demons who use witchcraft to trick people into thinking a good day is having money in your pocket while the earth is completely devoid of nutrients and there's cancer in the air. The world is run from the top down by ai and the electrical grid is run by people who are all either retarded or evil or both. I know how to make a car two blocks away go beep beep whenever I feel like it and I know that ai is accelerating to the point that the world can be programmed in realtime like it's a video game

Watched the first ep of Tulsa King. Of course I was going to watch it the second Vinny was announced as being part of the cast and I wasn’t disappointed. His character is going to be a total bastard (affectionate), I can feel it. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I actually enjoyed the rest of the show outside of him. It’s still early days, but I'm looking forward to more.

From The Sidelines To The Squared Circle: Wrestlers Who Were Once Cheerleaders
Hey Everyone! I am super excited about this article! I used to be an All Star Cheerleader and I wanted to do something fun involving cheerleading and wrestling . This article will be about wrestlers who were once cheerleaders.
Tumblr media

She would have a cheerleader gimmick before turning Heel on the Blondes after having mist sprayed into her eyes by Malakai Black. She joined the House of Black in 2022 and went on to become the youngest TBS Champion at 22 years old.
Tumblr media
Maxxine Dupri - Maxxine Dupri was a Cheerleader for the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and a Dancer for the NBA’s Phoenix Suns. She would attend a WWE tryout in 2021 and was signed the same year. In 2022, she made her NXT debut as a manager/valet alongside Robert Stone for Von Wagner. She would make her main roster debut the same year as the kayfabe younger sister of Max Dupri ( LA Knight) , and the ‘ Director of Talent ’ for the Heel stable , the Maximum Male Models. She would join Alpha Academy and made her in ring debut the same year after performing an Arm Drag on the valet of The Viking Raiders , Valhalla ( Sarah Logan).
Tumblr media

She was also in a dance troupe alongside Christy Hemme. She was signed to TNA/Impact Wrestling in 2013 , making her in ring debut in 2014. She also managed The Dollhouse ( Marti Belle and Jade/Mia Yim/Michin). She was signed to AEW as a makeup artist in 2019 before making her TV debut alongside Britt Baker.
My Final Thoughts:
This was a fun article to do. As a former cheerleader myself , this was interesting to reasearch. I’m thinking of adding a Part 2 to this article.
Love You All,
-Kay
