It’s definitely one of those days that no one will ever forget. I was a senior in high school and I walked into my first period Econ class to find the TV on and the first tower burning! Several months later after I graduated I took a trip to NYC and saw ground zero, which was about the saddest thing I’ve ever experienced. There were workers clearing SO much debris! It’s a site I’ll never forget. Fast forward 18 years and I’m showing my daughter the same spot, now beautified and memorialized, a heart wrenching and moving monument to the people who lost their lives that day. She’s still really young, but even she could feel the momentous tragedy that this was. I love how this city and this country have come together and turned this tragedy into something more than a tragedy. I’d love to hear your #911 stories. It was a glorious end to an incredibly busy day. Running around New York City for fashion week, 9/11 events, and then to Jersey City to photograph my last pictures of the day. The beautiful Twin Tower beam of lights on the Lower Manhattan skyline shined brightly. On September 11th, I will always remember my friends and colleagues who lost their lives on that bright and sunny clear blue sky morning. The moments of that day are etched in my brain forever. Without question, we will remember. We will never forget. We will honor those that were lost on Tuesday, September 11th, 2001. We graciously and humbly thank those servicemen, servicewomen, first responders and local citizens that rushed into the chaos, without hesitation and showed us all true heroism and a portion of the uncanny strength that resides in the focused, united American people. We will celebrate the lives of nearly 3000 People that were killed this day. We pray that their families find peace and some comfort knowing they are in our hearts forever. Our thoughts are also with the 60,000 plus people that were as risk, suffered, died, and now have permanent health issues, from the toxic dust that flooded the area as the towers collapsed.
