I don’t usually do discourse on this blog but that last reblog hit the nail on the head. Reader interaction is at an all time low for fic authors and whilst I’m eternally grateful for any and all kudos and comments that I do receive, I feel as if in the past couple of years there’s been this weird migration of comments - they’ve left ao3 and they’re on tiktok instead. So, rather than people leaving comments on my fics, they leave their comments on the videos of people reccing my fics. I see tiktoks about my fics and they’ll have double, triple the number of comments that the fic itself has. It’s so lovely that people are talking about my writing, but it’s just a very strange phenomenon and a very odd feeling when you have a fic that you assume wasn’t overly well received because it has hardly any comments on ao3, but then you see a tiktok full of comments with people saying that it’s their favourite fic.

And I’m going to say something potentially controversial here but not ONCE have I seen a tiktok creator, whose content relies solely on other people’s fics, say anything along the lines of “leave the author a comment if you enjoy the rec.” Literally never ever seen this. And I think that’s a real shame.

An update from Bisan, posted today 11/05/23, saying she does not think she will survive long because Israel is bombing anything that may help people survive. Sources of electricity, solar panels, water. Bakeries are running out of petrol and wheat and any that obtain said materials are threatened with bombing.

There is no food and water and without electricity it is impossible to find or make any. The infrastructure is collapsing because 100-300 bombs happened last night, all over Gaza, and people are coughing and ill.

Today, they dropped posts saying this is their LAST CHANCE to evacuate to the south. People have no way to leave, nothing to sustain them, this is genocide. They are starving, injured, ill with gassed air with only the sea left to them. Aid is not reaching anyone.

we need to have the conversation of how charles fans treat his teammates without falling into the accusatory zone that we want to harm charles by having this conversation.

i mean charles no harm, but it is something that is getting extremely out of hand and it needs to be talked about. some charles fans have gotten too freely with being cruel to others drivers.

people used to call sebastian vettel a CORPSE. yes, scuderia ferrari screwed him. yes, everyone loves sebastian vettel again NOW (because he is far away from it and free from this hell) but back in 19/20? charles fans, mainly on twitter, made his life miserable. he couldn’t win. he couldn’t make anyone happy. if he won, he was taking something from charles that belonged to charles rightfully. it he lost, he was old and bad and should retire already and this sport wasn’t for him. he wasn’t a team player. he didn’t care about ferrari. he wanted to screw charles over.

if you just got here, if carlos is your first experience of how charles’ teammates are treated, let me tell you. everything that is being said about carlos has already been said about sebastian. and it is crazy for some people to understand that because everyone loves sebastian again, so you can’t even imagine what he went throught.

and i’m sorry for generalizing all of charles fans, im a charles fan, but it is something we need to stop and look at and talk about. how long will we let it go. how long until it starts to happen to lewis hamilton, of all people. how long until they dismiss his victories and say he is old and should give up of this sport so charles can win.

and you know one of the worst part? charles loves to race. every time he had to fight for it, he loved it. when he and carlos race in that track, he comes out with a big smile and talking about how he loves to race carlos. how this is real racing. he loves to fight for it. to prove himself. to have to sweat for it.

all while his fans try to make everyone just bow down their heads and give him things in a plate, already chewed and easy to get. as if he would like that. as if he can’t prove himself worth otherwise. as if he isn’t good enough to fight for it.

yeah if (when, lbr) we fall under 60% i think we have to. would be less stressful to start now but also like i don't wanna cheat unless we absolutely have to i want the moral high ground in this so bad. but oh my god they are so blatant about it 😭

You know, sometimes I forgot that other people aren't as insane as I am and don't have over 1300 photos of the immortal space pirate band they're obsessed with saved to their phone, and that people usually don't spend an entire week uploading all of those photos to a Pinterest account just so they could access them on different devices and set up an organisation system despite the fact that Pinterest timed them out for spam every 50 images and they had to wait a few hours before going at it again. There are also like 150 tangentially related pictures in a different folder on my phone that are of merch and posters and stuff. I'm normal.

kind of extremely funny that im just now realizing at 27 years old that the way ppl make friends online is thru shared interests and that i Knew This before but never Understood bc ive never had an interest last longer than 2 months nor have i ever been That into something to stick around the space and recognize people/talk to em.
