Life looks a lot different these days.

Hi, I’m Jess.

I live in San Diego with my boyfriend of five years. We have a little two bedroom apartment and a spaniel corgi mix named Georgie. My parents moved out of state at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I have a brother who lives pretty close to me. I work in the casino industry.

I used to go to a lot of shows. I don’t really do that anymore. I also used to drink pretty heavily. I  don’t really do that anymore either - I celebrated one year sober in September of this year.

I still have a deep love for a few bands... namely The Maine, Mayday Parade, Jimmy Eat World, and Pierce the Veil. But going to shows and following tours doesn’t consume my life like it used to. These days I can be found at home on my time off - crocheting, baking, caring for my multitude of house plants, reading, or playing with Georgie. I do love to go for a good hike though - and I wish I did it more often. My job requires me to work pretty demanding hours, and I often struggle to maintain a work-life balance.

I’ve been in therapy since the summer of 2019. I’m being treated for an anxiety disorder, a sleep disorder, and a personality disorder. I take medication. I try to exercise. I sleep when (and if) I can. I sometimes consume too much caffeine. I suck at staying in touch. I should call my parents more often.

Life looks a lot difference these days. I haven’t signed into this Tumblr in years - and it’s crazy to see how much the world has changed since 2015. It feels like a much more complicated place now. But maybe that’s the pessimist in me. Maybe it’s growing up.

I’m not sure if I’ll continue to post here. Maye I will. It certainly makes for a good trip down memory lane.

When Twits began to Twit. When "hashtag" became a WORD. THAT PEOPLE SAID. OUT LOUD.

I was there.

"Disdain! Never to join the followers of the reconstituted number sign!" was my battle-cry.

And I never did.

Never has that cheery blue bird adorned my desktop, nor has it found a home among the icons upon my phonebrick.

I am not them.

I am something else.

But I watched it all.

I was there, tumblr.

And now . . .

I am here.
