lol I have an update to me asking about stone identities— I tried Googling "stone butch/femme sexuality books", and it brought up Stone Butch Blues, which is very good!! And I have read already! But I was looking for books that are *not that*

And then it was like "here's a list of lesbian books! Here's a list of nonbinary books by trans people!" Which are good and well but not what I want lol

And then! I clicked on the most *basic* PDF that had the butch--femme scale (the one that was supposed to be satire IIRC) and one of the things it said was! "Butch [or femme] may be used derogatorily" like hello??? By whom?????

I'll keep looking amd let you know if I find anything!

ok it’s good to know that you’ve already read SBB (i thought you might’ve lol), i started rereading in the process of answering your ask bc it’s so irresistibly rich but i’ll keep digging for others!

that pdf sounds like a nightmare oh my god… there’s no way to win once ‘the butch/femme scale’ gets reanimated for the umpteenth time bc either people start trying to dissect complex & personal identities into points on a line or [often white] butches & femmes et al get so fucking livid about the existence of people who are futch and/or stem(me).

the derogatory part is true but tactless… like in undergrad i rewrote the manual for safe space training & (long before IDing as femme!) said something like “these are identities with a rich & meaningful history, but not everyone uses them, so don’t apply it to someone else without knowing whether they’re okay with that.” which is pretty basic like. come on y’all.

but yeah imo it’s kinda a combo deal of like. normative society loves using words associated with queerness, in this case queer/gnc masculinity, as an insult, then with the sex wars + pressure to be a good lesbian feminist + vilifying butch as oppressive & femme as enabling, other gay people definitely use(d) both derogatorily. these days i’d say probably the way people spit pillow princess is closer to how they used to condemn femme but maybe that’s still happening places i’m not.

(+ there’s something to be said about the descriptive-not-prescriptive association of femme with sexual excess & often sex work, so like through certain expressions of swerfism + whorephobia + slut-shaming femmes are still being shamed by other gays for being femmes even if the word femme never gets said.)

one of my favorite pieces of all time about femmeness actually opens with that image, The Kissing Booth by Debra Moskowitz (excerpt with excellent commentary by @gatheringbones), would love to hear your (+ anyone reading this who wants to share!!) thoughts on it!

like i said i’m still rooting through my scrap pile so shall answer your original ask soon but if any books centered on high femme / stone bottoms exist i have yet to encounter them unfortunately

First of all, thank you so much for following me on my art journey! I wanted to do this when I hit 250 but suddenly there are nearly 300 of you and I need to do this before I hit 350 ;;; hehe don’t worry I’ll be doing another drawing/art related event soon

Believe it or not this is my first follow forever I’ve ever done and I’ve been here since my seedling years pls laugh at my joke /jk but I’m hoping it won’t be my last. “Lumine what’s wrong?” you ask seeing her on the brink of tears

“My- my brother…” she starts with a clench of her hands, she shakes her head wanting to be done with the thoughts of her brother “Can we- can we just get some dinner or something?” she asks looking to you, you nod with a soft smile.

“Of course we can” you tell her in a soft tone, you extend your hand for her to take and she happily takes it. You lead her through town towards Wamin Restaurant “We can sit in a quiet space in the back, how does that sound?” you ask, Lumine nods

“Sounds good” she replies, you lead her to the back of the restaurant, you both sit in the quietest booth and order some food

“Do you want to talk about it?” you ask her, she shakes her head

“Not yet-“ she goes to say something else but stops herself, you nod in understanding

“That’s okay” you reassure her

Dinner is quiet, but that’s okay. You keep bringing up different conversations, but Lumine isn’t much in the mood for talking. She mentions having a craving for some Wolfhook juice so you end up going to the kitchen with a handful of Woolfhooks begging someone to turn them into juice. After you mention it’s for the traveller that saved Liyue they’re more than happy to make the drink.

After dinner you offer just going on a walk, surely that could take her mind of things a little more. And you think it does, just a little bit. Lumine seems a little happier to talk about the hilichurl camps and the treasures she found clearing them out, she mentions that she’s started helping one of the adepti with the demonic kinds of hilichurls to keep Liyue safer. You smile at her and thank her for keeping your home safe.

By the time you get back to Liyue it’s dark, close to the time to sleep but Lumine doesn’t quite look ready for sleep. So you bring up the idea of listening to a story teller, you mention that you heard that the story this week is one of the Rex Lapis ones. So, the both of you find yourselves at the teahouse, herbal teas in both your hands and the sweet melodies of a story is almost enough to send the two of you to sleep. So home is where you’re bound next.

“The spare bed is all set up if you want to sleep at mine” you offer looking to Lumine, she nods

“I would like that please” she replies, you smile and bump your hip with hers

“I’ll be right next door if you need me for anything, okay?” you ask opening the spare bedroom door before gesturing to your own. She nods again.

“Sleep well Lumine” you tell her before going to your own bed.

Not two hours later you hear soft knocking on your bedroom door, you go to investigate to see a half asleep Lumine stood before you.

“Is everything alright?” you ask, she shakes her head. “Do you want to come in and maybe talk about it?” you ask stepping to the side, she nods and comes into your room and sits at the end of your bed

“My brother” she speaks up “I think- I think that he’s the leader of the abyss order” she tells you her eyes welling up with tears. You sit beside her with a concerned frown.

“I remember when I saw you last you were looking for abyss heralds, did you find out around then?” you ask, she nods and sighs

“I was helping this guy called Dainslief find the abyss herald he’s been tracking for some time,” she pauses to make sure you are caught up “And just as we were winning against the abyss herald out comes Aether” she adds clenching her fists a little to stop herself from crying “The way he was talking… it was Aether but never in a way I’ve seen him” she continues looking to you “I know that that was my brother… but also he felt so different” you hum at her

“I’m sorry you have to go through this” you apologise placing your hand atop hers “Maybe you’ll find some more answers in Inazuma” you add with a smile. Lumine nods.

“I think Beidou will be a good lead” she tells you with a smile, you nod

“Aye, she’s probably one of the only captains with enough skill to navigate the storms encasing Inazuma” you speculate and look to Lumine “Though if you ever need a friend and a place to crash at just know my door is always open for you”

“Of course” Lumine smiles softly

“Now come here and give me a hug”

we got a hundred lists of things we wanna do but, i'm also cool just doing nothing with you

content (warnings): just some good ol fluff (also the domesticity is high imo andbjd), slightly suggestive (not really but one part made me flustered imagining it HAHA), language (lighthearted name calling from him)

a/n: iz!! ilysm and ty for sending this in!! we love underrated kings here. i love kamasaki and i'm just hoping i didn't totally butcher his character ajdjjd but pls he's so pretty and big and strong phew. and the song choice!!

“so what do you want to do today?” yasushi asks you as he dries the last of the just washed dishes you hand him. when his hands are free he places them on your hips and pulls you into him, a playful smirk already gracing his lips.

“uh-uh, you always make me pick,” you smile and bring your hand up to graze his jaw, feeling the light stubble he has, “what should we do today?”

he hums, “well, it’s laundry day. i still have to drop those boxes from last week off to my parents. and we’re low on eggs, especially if i want to make you those pastries. mm, oh, and i have to check on the patio seat cushions before rainy season comes around. and-”

your laugh finally brings him back and he cocks his head, “what?”

“it’s our day off, i kind of meant what you wanted to do for fun,” you wrap your hands around the base of his neck. “you work hard enough as it is, you need to rest - the patio cushions can wait.”

kamasaki stares you down, an amused look on his face. he eyes your lips before he moves so his own grazes your ear.

you want to roll your eyes at his little stunt - after all this time he still tries to find ways to fluster you. but annoyingly, they work and you feel his smug smirk at the sound of the surprised squeal he managed to get out of you. “you say that like every moment i spend with you isn’t a moment i treasure, sweetheart.”

his laughter booms through the kitchen when you push him off.

“gosh, you’re corny,” you groan.

but the look in your eyes that seems to sparkle lets him know everything he needs to know. “fine,” he smiles, done trying to provoke you, “then today i want to..” he looks up in thought. “check out that new exhibit at the city museum, we haven’t gone in a while too. and then stop by the cafe for that one drink you had me try last week. you up for it?” he asks as he wraps his arms around you.

“mhm!”

“perfect, but we really should pass by the store too for groceries.”

you laugh, “sure, we can stop by before heading home.”

“and we can stop by that little shop you like.” when you nod he continues, “oh, and maybe a movie later when we’re back too!”

you laugh, “you know there are only so many hours in the day, right?”

“smartass,” he grins, “of course i know that. but i also know we have eternity together. so if we don’t get to the movie there’s always next time.” he leans forward to give you a kiss.

“man, you are on fire with the cheesy one-liners today,” you tease when he pulls away. “so, should we get ready now?”

“hold on,” he tightens his hold on you and hides his head in the crook of your neck, “the museum can wait a couple minutes, i forgot another thing i wanted to do today.”

“yeah, what’s that?” you ask.

he continues to snuggle you and sighs in content. “just holding you like this.”
