Why UE 5 is so bloated?

Why UE 5 is so bloated? UE 5 has a lot of bloated features like basically software raytracing by default (lumen), nanite, virtual shadows etc. Yes they do make it a little bit more visually appealing but the hit for it is basically unbelievable. Every Single Game that launched in UE 5 runs like crap on consoles and mid range PCs. Only with the highest end you can bruteforce through all the bloat to hit 60fps. Barely.I do plan to buy the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R game once the bugs are cleared, but looks like that also has the UE 5 bloat. I did play one or two UE 5 games but the extra bells barely make a difference. But it barely runs 30fps on my laptop. Then, there are games like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided which looks gorgeous even now and runs at a 100fps. Hell even watch dogs legion ran better than the typical UE 5 game. Why UE 5 is bloated? Is it because games uses early versions like 5.0 and 5.1 with no optumizations? Does that mean games that will come out like 5 years after will run better? Lights and Shadows. Part 2.

I have decided to dedicate myself entirely to learning UE blueprints for a few days, by watching plenty of tutorials and learning.

In the end, I have created a stamina bar, with primitive health system and one of the mechanics of my game - condition bar.

With health and stamina bar I have learned how Unreal Engine blueprints work, with Condition bar I tried to make something work based on what I have learned. I ‘programmed’ it in a way that if user uses too much stamina, then condition bar drops. Once the bar reaches 0, person theoreticually wont be able to use stamina.

I also learned about environment triggers and the trigger box, since it would be great to implement these into the environment eventually.

In the end, I have learned a little of everything. With that, knowledge, I could get my playable characters to move around, put some simple and quick interaction features, and just create things with the style.

DESYNCED to have you explore and fight to survive

DESYNCED sci-fi survival strategy game targets Linux with Windows PC. Which is the new creation coming from the minds behind Stage Games. Working to makes its way onto both Steam Early Access and Humble Store. Stage Games, Inc is eager to announce DESYNCED, since the Steam page is live. Doing so ahead of the game’s demo reveal in the Steam Base Builder Fest. The single or multiplayer game launches in Early Access in Q1 of 2023. But also has Linux in mind as well.

We are currently on UE 4.27 for initial release. But do plan to upgrade to 5.1 once we have resources for testing. It does, however, work on the Steamdeck via Proton!

This is the email reply from developer Stage Games. Who are also hoping to offer a Linux port if the game succeeds. But due to resources they are not able to offer a native build right now. Rightly so, the games going into Early Access next month. Even though it's good to know that Proton support works. Yet I sincerely hope that a Linux build does take place.

DLC Packaging Issue

I'm using UE 5.1. Custom profile to split the packages to generate DLC pak files didn't work. I checked asset references and all. Two maps, one for the base game and the other for DLC, properly separated without any references between them but I always end up with all the contents being cooked and packaged into the base game. I stopped tracking down the trails because I could ship everything in one package for now.
