Not really a question I suppose, but one thing I love is the Thin Man's theme song...cause when it kicks it up, it sounds like a clock, and I think that's so fitting...chased by murderous grandfather clock...

PLEASE DONT GET ME STARTED ON HIS THEME I'M LITERALLY GONNA WRITE A FULL ESSAY.

The music in these games is just... (chef's kiss) - but I must confess I prefer the Gameplay Trailer version of "The Man in the Hat" over the one we hear in game by a long shot. Don't get me wrong, the one in game is PERFECT in the context of the story, plus it's a real fucking boop and it's still one of my favorites and YET.

I'll just tell you how I visualize both songs in my brain because I literally have no other way to explain it.

The in-game version is filled to the brim with so many conflicting emotions. The first part sounds like a slow realization that the door has been opened and that the Man is now free. The part in the middle is him starting to adjust to this unexpected freedom. He takes a few tentative steps until it downs on him that yes, he is out. Thus, the chase begins - and this is where the conflicting emotions come in. To me, it sounds like the Thin Man is torn and isn't really sure of how to procede, with is why he starts humming at the end: to calm himself down, just like Mono does.

Ultimately, this theme gives me a lot of "anger mixed with deep pain, grief and uncertainty, I-need-to-calm-down" kind of vibe. Mr Thin attempts to be composed when in reality his emotions are kind of all over the place - which then reflects in Signal Interference, a.k.a. the best OST that came out of this game after Old Friends Anew.

The gameplay trailer version tells a WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY. The song beings with his muffled humming, but it's different from the soft one we hear in the other one. It's almost hypnotic, dare I say demanding? He's impatient for someone to just open the damn door already. The hesitation present in the second section of the in-game version is nowhere to be found, which leads up to the chase - AND MY GOD this one is STRONG. THERE IS SO MUCH UNBRIDLED RAGE IN THOSE STEPS.

This Thin Man is not torn at all: he's still in pain, he's still hurting deeply, but he has his mind set on one thing and that is REVENGE. A more feral Thin Man, of which I am a big fan of.

topic is how fanfiction has influenced contemporary authors - writing a chapter on diversity in media and how fanfiction has catared to that but regular media is still like ughghghghhghg but it is starting to relent a bit. but basically i have to talk about slash fiction and im trying to politely phrase women write men fucking for fun (but then i also have to talk about the whole fetishising aspect and how its not necessarily a good thing and im too deep in the rabbit hole but also some people just want to fetishise and while that sucks you cant stop people writing things which are shitty and it should still be acknowledged instead of ignored cause things dont just go away)
