Artemis 105, Diana 78
Named after Artemis, the Greek goddess of the Moon, the hunt, animals, wilderness, and children, or Diana, her Roman counterpart
Her twin is Apollo 1862, who is associated with the Sun
Artemis is also associated with the menstrual cycle and childbirth
I have Artemis conjunct my Moon. Still trying to figure out if this has been expressed in an obvious way in my life yet...caring for animals, children...
Selene 580
Named after Selene, the Greek personification of the Moon
Means light, brightness, gleam
Drives a chariot across the skies to bring the night
Her brother is Helios, the Sun god, who drives a chariot across the sky to bring the day
I have Diana (above) and Selene conjunct with each other and my Neptune and sextile Saturn. Saturn sextile Neptune could refer to materialization. My ideas may be best developed at night (?) under the moon (?)
Hekate 100
Named after Hecate, the Greek goddess of crossroads, entryways, magic, witchcraft, the night, and the Moon
She is depicted with three bodies; all-seeing, transitional, liminal
A triple deity associated with the moon (Selene, Luna), hunting (Artemis, Diana), and herself as the underworld
Associated with dogs as well (thinking dogs and wolves howling at the moon)

Sove and Ulula
Chest: Ulula waited for Sove at the marina. She couldn’t have known when to expect her husband, but she was there exactly when he arrived at the shore. Did she look for his return every day? The thought inspired the warrior’s heart. Without waiting for the gangplank to be lowered, he jumped ashore and headed straight for his wife. The wind played with loose strands of her bright hair. She gazed at him searchingly, and the blue of her eyes seemed deeper than the depths into which he must have plunged, and he was speechless for a moment, drowning in that depth. Ulula took him by the hand. The gesture was refreshing and revived his speech. The warrior told his wife that he finally understood. Ulula’s face was radiating, and Sove knew that from now on everything would be fine. The gods had mocked him a bit, but he didn’t blame them. If they had not sent him on a wild goose chase, he would have never realized that it wasn’t them he should have listened to carefully, but someone else entirely. He took Ulula under his arm and together they moved toward the fortress.
Scroll 1: The ancient trees in the sacred grove of Hindar rustled softly, and the murmur of their leaves was reminiscent of a gentle whisper. Sove unhurriedly strolled between the thick trunks immersed in thought. The island of Hindarsfjall, where the temple to the goddess Freyja was raised, was the place where the Skelligans went when they faced problems that could not be solved with a sword and axe. The heroic Sove faced a problem of this kind. He stopped under a sprawling alder tree decorated with mistletoe balls. The ground beneath the tree was covered with soft moss. The place seemed appropriate to Sove. He knelt on the green carpet and closed his eyes. ‘Great Mother,’ he approached the goddess in his thoughts. ‘Look at your humble son and let him draw from your springs of wisdom. O Modron... what should I do to make peace with my wife, Ulula?’
Scroll 2: Sove remembered the day on which he and Ulula were married. There was no such beautiful couple in all of Skellige, and several songs were composed by skalds about their wedding. Ulula wore snow-white seal fur. Her fair hair was braided into thick braids, and a smile as sweet as honey danced on her full lips. Sove thought he was the happiest man in all of Skellige. His happiness, however, did not last long, because the wedding, as if some charm, changed Ulula beyond recognition. The stories about the spouses’ quarrels even reached the furthest corners of the archipelago. Sove tried to communicate with his wife with requests and threats, but to no avail, until finally, the helpless warrior decided to entrust his problem to the gods.
Scroll 3: A gentle voice called him by name. He opened his eyes and noticed that he was no longer kneeling under an alder tree, but over the smooth surface of water. At the edge of the pond stood a figure dressed in loose robes, with a face covered with a flowing scarf. Sove saw the outline of pregnancy under the material. He immediately bowed his head before the Great Mother. Suddenly he felt the weight of someone’s hand on his shoulder. He looked up. The hand belonged to a warrior in golden armour, whose head was protected by a helmet topped with an intricately forged deer antler. Sove also recognized this figure. The warrior pressed a scroll into his hand, which made Sove’s body shudder, and the man awaken under the alder again. In his hand, he clutched the scroll handed to him by Hemdall. He unrolled it and began reading. It described a magic potion to grant him Understanding. The words spoken by Freyja, just before he woke up, resounded in the warrior’s head again. ‘Approach the conflict with your wife in a way you’ve never done before.’ Well then, thought Sove, rising from the damp moss. Let the will of the gods be done.
Scroll 4: To get the ingredients, Sove had to do three things: Kill a terrible chimera, climb the windy peak of Aardeklove and dive into the depths of the archipelago’s deepest lake. Once he had gathered the necessary ingredients, he prepared the concoction according to the divine recipe and gulped it down. He didn’t feel anything changed in his understanding of the world, but he thought that maybe the potion would take some time to work. So he began to think about a completely new approach to the feud with his wife, for a deeper focus, hanging from the Irminsul tree by one leg. The warrior wasn’t sure how much time he hung in meditation because time became fluid and Sove felt as if it was slowing down, then speeding up. Finally, one morning, as the rays of the rising sun gave a golden kiss to his face, the Skelligian had a revelation. The potion had no magical properties at all. Sove jumped out of the tree and began preparing to return to Spikeroog.

BOTD: Northern Hawk Owl
Tumblr media
Photo: Armandas Naudzius
"In the northern forest, a lucky observer may spot this long-tailed owl perched upright at the top of a spruce. Rather hawklike in both appearance and behavior, it often hunts by day. Going from tree to tree, it flies fast and low, swinging up at the last moment to alight on the topmost twigs. The occasional Hawk Owl that wanders into the northeastern United States in winter may remain for weeks, attracting birders from far and wide."
