Now, moving on with our normal program of astrology and asteroid content. Here we have asteroid Circe and how I would interpret here in a natal chart. <;3

Asteroid number 34, Circe in a natal chart usually represents our inner which, our magical gifts and also can show where you feel isolated (this type of isolation can be from the outer world or self-imposed), also where do you fall in love to quickly. If conjunct the Asc, you can be quite intimidating. If conjunct the MC you can be seen very enchanting and be attracted to the occult.  If conjunct the Moon you may prefer being a night owl and prefer the company of animals.

Asteroid Circe

Circe in Aries/1st house: If you are into witchcrafts, you most probably work with fire and red candles. You may attract people because of your leadership skills, your energetic aura and fun-loving attitude.  Otherwise with this placement you may notice that others are intimidated maybe even scared by you.

aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty (asteroid 1388)

“when talking about such a popular god or goddess i am going to for warn paraphrasing - of course all these stories have more details and all these popular gods have stories within stories. i would love to share them all/in detail but i would need a book and a lot more time to write it. my attempt in writing these posts are to inform you on the high level story of the god’s or goddess’s life. that being said if any one of the events regaled in the post pique you interest - please let me know i don’t mind giving a more in-depth tale of any of the events mentioned.”

Aphros is the word for “sea-foam” which is how Aphrodite came to be. Uranus’ genitals fell into the sea after being castrated by Cronus and became the foam that would become Aphrodite. It was from the sea that Aphrodite emerged fully-grown, nude, and beautiful - the moment she emerged, people flocked to the goddess enamored by her beauty. When she arrived at the gates of Olympus and havoc rained down. The only ones who were disinterested and immune to her beauty were Hestia, Athena, and Artemis - likely due to their virginal statuses. Each god wanted her; ultimately Zeus married her off (that’s not very kind of you, sir) to Hephaestus, who is considered the disfigured god of Olympus. But, of course, marriage isn’t something that stopped Aphrodite from doing as she wished: she had affairs with many of the gods (excluding Zeus and Hades) and many mortals. Aphrodite and Ares is a popularly known coupling - Helios saw them and told Hephaestus which caused the creation of the bronze net. He caught the two together and had other gods laugh at them for their adultery - Poseidon paid for their freedom. But little did Hephaestus know that Poseidon had a motive in freeing the couple. The second that Poseidon saw Aphrodite naked with Ares, he fell in love (i mean… okay then) - they have at least one known child together. After this affair, it was back to Ares with whom Aphrodite had eight children with. Of course, there are other godly children - Priapus and Hermaphrodites, most notable - that came from other godly affairs. Mortal wise there was Adonis (find that story in my first post, if you are interested), Anchises (she pretended to be a princess to sleep with him - he gets struck down by Zeus because he later became obsessed with her), etc. Aphrodite is also a jealous individual seen in Eos and Ares’ story as well as Psyche and Eros’ story. IN MY OPINION Aphrodite in a chart can represent a) where you are adored most in your life, b) how your beauty is seen by others (usually aspect based*), c) where in your life there is a lot of drama, and/or d) how jealous you get and why you do.

*my aphrodite is at a cancer degree my face is pretty round, but it squares my pluto and chiron - my face isn’t disfigured or whatever it is people tend to say about chiron-aphrodite aspects, rather i appear as someone people can approach to tell everything too (tend to know all the gossip or be the therapist friend because everyone sees me as this). people tend to find me pretty after talking with me for awhile. the pluto aspect is probably more so to do with people viewing me regal or possibly my under eye bruises lol - i always look like a dying/ill victorian chick. i also have this asteroid opposite my asc and square my mc so i tend to get over looked when it is a beauty contest because i’m ✨unconventionally pretty✨! that’s the meaning for this part of the post today - if your aphrodite asteroid is “poorly” aspected it does not mean you are ugly! lol i hate when people say things like that!

i encourage you to look into the aspects of aphrodite along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of aphrodite AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede aphrodite!

The Omega symbol of this degree is “A magician’s wand sprouting golden leaves”. This degree symbology holds a great reflection of the seasonal change that is currently among us 🍃🍂

Persephone is best known as the goddess of spring, nature, the underworld, and the dead. She is a bridge between the beginning of life and the end of it, making her the perfect pairing for Pluto and its symbolisms of rebirth and transformation.

The story of Persephone depicts a woman who went from being young, naive and in some iterations having an overbearing mother (Demeter), to being imprisoned and held against her will by Hades. Her journey led her to embracing her power as queen of the underworld, and becoming a confident and commanding goddess unafraid of claiming what she wants.

Asteroid Persephone asks us to question the areas in our life we feel dominated or held captive in. Looking at the house/sign will give a more detailed idea as to who or what you need to reclaim your agency from. This is also the place we can look at to discover where new life can sprout once we release ourselves from the shackles of self imprisonment. Where are you giving away your power? What is dimming your self sovereignty?

Proserpina being the Roman counterpart to Persephone can also be looked at for her similar themes. Proserpina can be found as asteroid 26, with her symbol being a star inside a pomegranate.

Solar Return to Blavatsky

She is famous for her two volumes: The Secret Doctrine (1888) and Isis Unveiled (1877) widely considered to have brought esoteric knowledge to the forefront of consciousness in the late 19th century. Aphrodite (or Venus) was the Hellenised form of the Egyptian goddess Isis, so we are talking about Isis too when Venus is mentioned.

But there is also an asteroid called ‘Isis’. I found that in Blavatsky’s chart, Isis is conjunct her Ascendant. This certainly makes it a highlight of her life- a presiding spirit sitting on the doorway of her chart. Isis was not just unveiled but prevailed in her life. Greater awareness of Isis came into prominence because of her.

Isis is also conjunct asteroid Juno and directly opposite Neptune at 22° of Capricorn on her Descendant. That adds huge spiritual depth, but also points to the confusion she created, the mystification that came with her work and strange perceptions of her as a possible fraud. Neptune is conjunct Pallas and Eros too, wisdom and sexual power. Asteroid Vishnu is on the Galactic Centre point at 24° of Sagittarius which I find interesting considering the focus on Indian traditions Blavatsky brought to the world. Isis is currently at 24° of Virgo for those interested in checking it in their own charts.

She helped establish openness to views on Buddhism in the west, but it was Annie Besant who took over after Blavatsky died that the emphasis shifted more towards Hindu gods. But to have an Isis on your Ascendant speaks of the volumes she wrote that sealed her reputation as a metaphysical thinker and influencer on so many ‘new age’ theories which you can take or leave as they have been overplayed I think.

I wrote this article about Blavatsky back in 2019 but have now updated it with these fresh details of her asteroid positions as well. I called her the Sphinx, a bit of riddle, but Urania too is worth mentioning as muse of Astrology as it is conjunct Kalliope, chief muse of creative inspiration, at 11° of Aquarius, close to her Ceres at 10° and her Jupiter at 17°. Asteroids operate like punctuation marks in a person’s life, defining particular behaviours not otherwise shown in the chart, and in this case, Blavatsky has a direct link to Isis, in her attempt to make a science of religion she unravelled all the secrets of natural law and nature’s hidden workings.

The Greek Goddess Juno is described to rule over love and marriage and hence why the asteroid is looked into for that theme.
