something i noticed recently is that as marian is going about her character arc, her progress is evident thru her hair. seeing as how she starts out the film “tightly wound”, it makes sense the first time we see her in the film not only is she working (in an office, no less) but she also has a very proper bun in—

even when she shows up to sugar n’ spice she hasn’t changed out of her work gear, not even a teensy bit. she still has her blazer + her little blouse on and her hair is still very much up. even as carla tells her girl take your blouse off she’s like Um. No O_O

the only time in the first two-ish acts of the movie we see her w her hair fully down is when she has jamie over to give her frozen vegetables to put on her black eye, when the day is clearly over for her. she’s in the private space of her apartment only with jamie so obvs her hair is down. (you could also point to this as jamie being the only person marian is truly comfortable with, which i’d also wholeheartedly agree with.)

however as the two of them begin their Trek down south, her hair is still in the same very proper bun it seems she’s used to. even the night after marian is awkwardly kicked out of the hotel for jamie and her hookup to have sex, she still has that same fuckass bun when they’re getting pizza and spot the soccer girls.

but Notably the morning after jamie & marian’s First Kiss that marian scrambles away into the night from and after jamie picks her up from the police station, marian’s hair is now different! she’s in a high pony! (also interesting how jamie’s mess of curls have also been thrown into an updo here— this fit is the only time in the movie that she’s truly wearing a different hairstyle. i assume bcuz margaret was tired of the curlers, but it’s still a fun detail comparatively.)

when they arrive at the hotel, her hair is somewhat different once again! her once-high ponytail has sunk into a medium-bordering-on-low pony. it’s interesting to note because her bun in the first act never seems to come undone or slip at all, but she has loosened up to the point wherein she’s fine with letting her hair slip.

then- Of Course— when they have fancy dinner and jamie is courting her like a gentleman, her hair is fully down! she’s also in a cute dress, which seems like a far cry from the marian we met at the beginning of the movie who was pulling up to dyke bars in silly, boxy blazers. (i could probably write a separate post on the wardrobing without thinking, honestly.)

after this, her hair is only kind-of up (as is jamie’s) when they get kidnapped. for the rest of the movie, it pretty much stays down. and naturally, in the final scene we get of them, her hair is down and done-up so pretty and she’s in another cute and less formal dress. WHOA!!! CHARACTER DEVLOPMENT!!!!!

also important to note that jamie clearly has a Thing for touching/playing with marian’s hair— her pulling marian closer by a hand in marian’s thick black locks + jamie twirling marian’s silly little ponytail around (she’s stimming guys she has ADHD).

plus, of course, the very sweet moment before they have sex wherein jamie is moving locks of marian’s hair out of the way as she’s undressing her so lovingly. i love the sex scene because it’s so soft and tender and acts as a breather for both us and the characters. you can tell marian is definitely at Peak relaxation here, just letting jamie undress her and go down on her, especially when she’s soooo blissed out from her orgasm that she falls asleep immediately after. they’re such sweethearts… sniff sniff.

marian’s whole hair progression was just something i noticed at one point and i was like WAIT! that’s GENIUS. also genius in the fact that geraldine has beautiful hair and is literally a pretty pretty princess, so seeing her be at Peak Princess only really at the end of the film feels like a reward. it’s such a change regardless, but one you can clearly see is coming from marian becoming more comfortable with herself and entering a relationship with jamie, who she’s always loved, a girl who has always loved marian as she is. gahd-damn it. i love this movie.

❤ Favorite Male: hmmm, probably Aang. A good lad, that one :)))) Flawed in very specific ways. Sometimes his pacifism works against him, but he stays true to himself and I appreciate that about him. Also very strong bender, a good avatar for being so young and essentially leading a war. Plus he's positive and his smile is amazing, we must stan.

❤ Favorite Female: Azula HAHAHAHAHAH, flipped the switch. Um, I personally love how fucking conniving she is. Manipulative, powerful, torments the hell out of Zuko, but revealed some very deep seated insecurities by the end. Idk I always found her a really great antagonist and she's so strong wtf.

❤ Favorite Pairing: I was a kataang shipper back in the day. Which was cute and fun and I didn't know anything about ship wars. :)))) Good times.

❤ Least Favorite Character: hmm, probably Zuko tbh. While I think he's genuinely an amazing example of a redemption/atonement arc, I never really liked the broodiness, the angst, the emo boy thing was not it for me. ✋🙄 But I mean like...he's fine, I don't HATE him, I just never got the hype.

❤ who’s most like me: uhhhh Toph probably NKDNDJFJAJFJF bastard child.

❤ most attractive: uhhh.... idk, Suki. She's so cool and preddy.

❤ three more characters that I like:

Sokka, he's great and funny.

Katara, her softness never stopped her from wrecking house.

OMG!! I forgot the most important question and I won't be in peace if I don't ask this. How will Zhao be with Hotaru?? *waitsforitwithbigexpectingeyes*

... uh. Um. If the gif I used doesn’t answer this question already, well, um... um.

I’ll try not to be too spoilery but...

... but the truth is I doubt you’ll like the answer to that question @_@ as I’ve already said in past asks, by Part 3, Zhao won’t be the same guy he has been throughout Part 2, he will undergo a pretty complicated character arc of his own, starting when his better intentions backfire on him quite badly. Azula certainly will be in a terrible place, I’m already there with her personally, I gotta say it’s a horrible mental space to be in, and I haven’t even started Part 3 proper yet :’D but she’s not in a good place at all, which causes her to change her opinion about Zhao yeeet again. This, in turn, results in her taking certain actions that will cause Zhao to react adversely to Azula, just as well...

And that very adverse reaction is what we’ll see by the time Hotaru’s existence is made known, basically. I guess I’ll say that Zhao... will make sense of the situation pretty quickly, but he won’t know how to deal with it; it will be pretty unpleasant. All-around, though? He’s... not happy, at all. He expects the truth about Hotaru to be... well, what it is :’D and he’s basically just waiting for confirmation on that fact. He’s not going to be noble about this matter at all, both over Azula’s actions... and Ozai’s. I want to make sure his process makes sense, and I think it does... but I do warn that you shouldn’t have a lot of hopes regarding how he’ll react when Hotaru’s officially on her way, or how he’ll act with Azula past the first month or two of we-know-what. A lot of Zhao’s less pleasant sides will come to light through Part 3, not only once we understand Rei better (both who she is and where she comes from), but also once we see his behavior and reactions once Part 3 isn’t any kinder to him than it will be to Azula, or Sokka, or Ozai, or, uh...

... or just any character? O_O I’m not sure who’s going to have a good time in Part 3, ngl.

like many others on their first watch, my initial reaction was What The Fuck Is This The Same Show

then that supposed-to-be-offhand comment i just O_O not to mention the sister and brother w the darts i didnt like episode. too long so i told my sister just to skip thru it (and other parts ofc)

so i was not enjoying this arc at first

the koala was so funny though…. clown shoes…

MAN that was a strong move on togashi’s part… taking these familiar characters from the first arc and brutally killing them. it really shatters the audience’s sense of safety and you’re left thinking oh Shit. so this is how it’s gonna be and u worry for the main characters.. like who’s gonna die next?

so yeah killing kite was that was times a bunch more because WOW gon’s like we’re gonna save him! and then cut to pitou holding his head damn

then we have….that scene…. 🤧🤧🤧before i saw a gifset of hunterpedia including the one where killua kisses gon and i sent to to my friend asking him if it is canon??? and he just said watch the show………………… the answer is not explicitly said but Basically (but u know that already)

and im inch rested to see how the events in the CA arc will influence the current arc (pariston w his 5000 ca soldiers or some shit. i will reread DC arc for the third time while on my first time manga read)

Ah, fair point. On re-reading the ask+reply I see what you mean. That being said I’m still agog at the idea anyone would like Bob after his statements that clearly show he doesn’t see:

That his character’s skewed viewpoint is a problem (Lexa = tyrant because window kicking which um HOW does Bellamy even know that? He wasn’t physically present for it. Also, there is no internal canonical evidence to show that Arkadia was being physically prohibited from attempting farming of land outside of the fenced compound during the three month timeskip - the nearest town was miles away in any case),

That his character bears any culpability in Lincoln’s death (I’m not going to touch the Octavia part - that was a very unsettling aspect of her arc all by itself and made me go O_O ), or

That wanting Pike back is screwed up on so many levels.

What’s obviously happening is that the writing/creative team have a very poor grasp on the characters of the show and are aiming for JFlop’s ideal of “GoT lite”.

As a consequence, I think much of the problem here is that Bob feels he has to rationalize his character’s behavior as forced by the plot and narrative structuring of Seasons 3 and 4, which robbed Bellamy of his intelligence and sensitivity and replaced those traits with a mindless violent dogmatism in S3, and a very poor grasp of long-term strategic and tactical goal seeking in S4.
