obv i don't take the photos bc i crave praise or anything but rather bc i genuinely enjoy doing it and i feel like it's a nice thing to do, but i'd lie if i said that i wasn't expecting a simple 'thank you' after an entire season of delivering 200+ pics after almost every home match to my cousin's volleyball team that would otherwise have nothing but a phone pic or two after a successful match
#r#not that i'm surprised but oh well#it's the same with winter swimming and it's starting to annoy me#15 or so years of being the photographer and some ppl can't even say hi to me but want their pics taken every damn week#volleyball pics are used on fb by the team#and i keep finding uncredited winter swimming pics on ig constantly#and yet ♥️

#saw a version of this going around without the location info and figured we could at least do a little better than that‚ given that#credit is the currency of the internet economy#and you do a disservice to both the original creator and to readers who might like to learn more when you pass around uncredited work#that said‚ i haven't been able to work out who the sculptor actually is and it's driving me nuts#looks like the image above was very carefully taken to crop out the child on the far side of the ram—cf#https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/97/Am_M%C3%A4rchenbrunnen_VP_F%27hain_2017-10-09_ama_fec_%287%29.JPG#which is a less artful photograph but better documentation of the statue#i mean honestly the various statues around this fountain seem to have been damaged and swapped out and moved around enough times#that i'm not even sure whether this is a restored original or an interim replica or what#in conclusion: MIGHT be georg wrba but equally might not be#however. interesting to learn a little about the märchenbrunnen!#and good to at least pin the origin of this piece down that far‚ if no further#photography#thomas lautenschlag#berlin#art#sculpture

beautiful photography should be credited man it took me all of three seconds to reverse search those hummingbird photos, one person out of however many thought to find that out and link him so others could know who took them and where to see more of his work.

Apropos of nothing, I hate pinterest so much. It’s just a website full of stolen art. And then people repost that stolen art somewhere else and say ‘idk the artist, I got it from pinterest’ or literally just ‘source: pinterest’ like that’s anything. It makes me so mad!
#just a random rant#artists should be credited always#& I feel like pinterest is pretty much the biggest source of uncredited art#and when I say art that includes photography#when I still made ‘aesthetics’ I switched from using pinterest to unsplash bc there at least the photographer puts it up themselves#and it’s meant for free use
