Excerpts and thoughts under the cut
vol.1:
"In those days, a crimson moon shone down upon the subterranean realm, and not the dark sun of latter days."
Something something Eclypse dynasty.
Due to the Kingdom's unique position, things from outside this world were always leaking into it. The Kingdom's weapons would wipe out the calamities slipping in, but what of all the other objects? Such as, say, a child who may have come from some destroyed world?
What the hell what the hell what the hell
"Oh high lord of the nobles, a child once told me a tale of another world: Once upon a time, there were sea people who believed that the gods came from the sea. Each time they discovered a shipwrecked person, they would treat them with the utmost honor, for they believed that the gods would take the form of the shipwrecked to investigate the mortal realm."
I can't connect it with anything but I feel it's important. Parsifal's and Skipper's story mention a shipwreck. Two, actually. In some sense the twins are shipwrecked and Paimon was fished out of the sea.
The ocean and the sea were often used as a metaphor for the space projected by the stars.
Why sea and Abyss get conflated with it sometimes: Khaenri'ans were more familiar with the Abyssal stars than the sea.
In anticipation of the arrival at their Kingdom of gods from beyond the so-called ocean — or rather, the arrival of beings who could transcend the gods — they founded an organization, an orphanage to take care of such children. In latter days, the orphans of the Kingdom and those who wandered in from outside were accepted as well.
Everything fun in Teyvat is made by kids in orphanages.
The young Perinheri's first memory was that of being asked by the grown-ups to crawl through a dark corridor. This passage might have been a chimney for winter fires, for it was filled with coal ash, and there was not a single crack in it through which smoke or light could pass through. As he crawled, he would sometimes stumble in the pitch-black darkness. Fortunately, the corridor appeared designed for the passage of children in the first place, so the falls were not very painful. It also lacked any annoying cobwebs. When Perinheri reached the end at last, the exit had not opened yet. He knocked, only for the grown-ups to coldly ask: "Are you dead?" Well, how was he to reply if he was dead? But the grown-ups did not like this response. They kept asking the same question, until he at least shouted, "Yes, I'm dead!" The adults then asked, "Did you see it, then?" Perhaps it was the fear brought on by the darkness combined with hunger and exhaustion, but Perinheri did indeed see an illusion. The crimson moon, hanging high in the pitch-dark night sky, suddenly turned around, revealing itself to be a titanic, horrified eye. The adults opened the door and embraced the soot-covered Perinheri: "You have traversed the fire of two worlds within the hearth, and here you are reborn."
Moons being goddesses' corpses, the fake sky, whales, the rebirth ritual in the narcissenkreuz notes. Again, I can't connect it.
Though the crimson moon set, and the dark sun descended into a yet darker dusk, that transcendental person from beyond who the Kingdom orphanage was awaiting never arrived. But unusual individuals they had aplenty, and many of those who strode forth from the gates of that orphanage became great knights of the Kingdom. Perinheri was, in his time, the leading figure amongst their ranks — that is, unless, he were forced to compete with his best friend, Hleobrant.
tl;dr: Khaenri'ah casually welcomed travelers from between worlds, visitors from dead worlds especially. or at least hoped to but didn't get many

About Genshin Impact and the technology of Teyvat
We get a kamera at the start of the game from Xu for the “Snapshot” world quest. In it Xu remarks that the kamera is a new invention from Fontaine.
Tumblr media
Xu shows surprise at the Traveler knowing what it is, this supports the idea of the kamera being a new invention meaning it’s pricey and rare to have at this point. Later on, on the Traveler’s journey, we get quests to take pictures of things. This could mean that the kamera is becoming more widespread a time goes on, or just the knowledge of it.
During the 4.3 Fontinalia Festival the focus was placed of films. This was an attempt by the Fontaine Film Association to introduce films to the populace, making the main point of the festival the films produced for it.
Tumblr media
This would give idea to films still being a new invention, as they aren’t widespread, just like how the kamera was at the start of the game which was about 3 years ago. And based off of Furina’s Character Demo “Furina: All the World’s a Stage” we can assume that the films recorded were black and white in quality. Unless, we assume that the mini-games during the 4.3 “Roses and Muskets” event were canonical in the way they showed the film quality. No noise was shown in either, but one was in color the other not.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This gives us an estimate of where — technological advancement vice — Teyvat is compared to our world. Films started becoming a thing at the end of the 1800s and start of the 1900s. Colored film started showing up around the 1930s, but became more accessible and profitable later on. Films started getting sound added to them around the mid-to-late 1920s. This gives us an estimate of around the start of the 1900s placement vice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I’d like to bring up Khaenri'ah. It was heralded as “the pride of humanity” as said by Dainslief. Khaenri'ah has more than one notable scientific aspect linked to it, one of these being the “Field Tillers” aka Ruin Machines. Ruin Machines vary from “simple” Ruin Guards to a Ruin Serpent(s).
Ruin Machines seem to have been around for a while, since the Archon War even given the Ruin Hunter stored by Guizhong in a domain. This means that the technology may have been around for 1000s of years, likely being used as a defense method during the war and preserved thereafter. The knowledge of this technology didn’t spread much beyond Khaenri'ah, this showing through how the people of Teyvat started calling the Ruin Machines “Ruin Machines” after they spread globally after the Cataclysm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Around Sumeru there exist three giant Ruin Machines called “Ruin Golems”. These were giant mecha style machines were piloted by a crew of people, and — get this — include a colored screen. By screen I mean the type of screen you’re viewing this through, footage from outside the Ruin Golem being broadcasted to the screen to allow the people piloting to see where they’re going or what they’re doing.
During the “Vimana Agama” world quest that was apart of the Aranyaka quest line we can go into the Ruin Golem in Devantaka Mountain by Port Ormos. There we can use the actual screen and see through it. This being a machine that has sat unused for hundreds of years. And its screen is still in working condition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, simply put. Khaenri'ah was very mechanically advanced.
BUT!
I have yet to mention the Terminal Viewfinders in Fontaine. You know, those eye ball machines you use to transfer energy to terminals in puzzles in the Fontaine Research Institute area. You know, the machines with working colored screens. Mind you this isn’t technology you’re able to find all through out Fontaine, only in certain areas usually accompanied by a researcher from the Institute. So it would be more comparable to machines found in laboratories and not accessible to common people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But still. At the very least Fontaine is near the mechanical advancements of Khaenri'ah either a few hundred to thousands of years ago.
And I have yet to mention everything going on in King Deshret’s places in the Sumeru desert. And I’m not going to go into more than this mention because that is a headache I have yet to even get around to in game.
TL;DR Khaenri'ah was very technologically advanced to the point of hundreds of years later working colored screen technology. Fontaine is around that point with the Research Institute while normal day to day people are around silent movies in advancement, while I have no idea what’s going on with the Sumeru Desert.

hello!! spoilers for 4.7 ahead - as the resident #1 skirk lore theorizer I'm so curious to hear your thoughts about skirk being surtalogi's disciple and the sudden new khaenri'ah connection that childe has now because i've spent so long accepting your skirk as a shining shade theory as a headcanon that the new drop has me SPINNING!!!
i think what's funnier is that this actually tells me nothing right now LMAO because yes there's a surtalogi skirk connection, but this has cleared nothing on skirk herself, and in the end, she's the one that matters the most atm when it comes to childe
plus childe always did have a strange khaenri'ah connection in the form of his weapons. yes, those are primordial civilization weapons, but khaenri'ah has a connection to that, so it's the same level of connection as there is through skirk. once removed, in a way.
maybe there was more to digest in the quest? but i genuinely only played it like half an hour ago at the time of posting this, so like. i might need a bit to process that
so like- ultimately while this was rather interesting khaenri'ah lore, i'm not sure that this told us all that much about skirk outside of the fact she now has a connection to khaenri'ah? and even then, that's assuming she met surtalogi while he was sill associated with khaenri'ah, in the event that he isn't anymore. i'm not sure that we know that he is sill which i guess is interesting in its own right because skirk doesn't have khaenri'ahn eyes.
Tumblr media
like forgive the quality but that's not the khaenri'ahn star. so... i guess my question is where she met surtalogi to start? unless non-royalty khaenri'ahns didn't have the star? or she was a foreigner in kh'aenriah. still,
so skirk is still a mystery, and even if we now know surtalogi had high connections to khaenri'ah, we still know precious little about him and the star beasts or whatever they were called. as far as i can tell, this update doesn't have childe crumbs despite the surtalogi namedrop hahah
though i guess this has the rather odd implication that if we assume khaenri'ahns to have had normal human lifespans pre-cataclysm and for surtalogi to have been a normal human, in the interest of masters usually being older than their students, that this would make skirk under 500 years old
which i mean- sure. that's still old. i guess i got caught a bit off-guard given even after we met her in-game i had just sort of assumed she was a bit older. i guess it's true we have no confirmation at all as to her age. older than childe is all we got lol (and even then, is that still debatable? is it childe's character card the one who refers to skirk as 'girl'? does that mean there's a non-zero chance skirk is younger than him and she's just- grown, just like him???? as in, she was a 'girl' when he fell in at 14 but he's now 20something and so she's not a 'girl' anymore by the time we see her??? i swear-)

Ahh sweetheart, congratulations!!!✨
This event looks so fun that I can’t help but want to participate~ buuut as your friend I would like you to judge me honestly. And not just give me someone I love already (unless you think it works~) ahem!
Mochii is what I go by, sweet and simple, I like to draw, play games and I adore being outside! Love going on walks, nature and in the cities~ it’s a great way to spend time with your friends and maybe even grab a fika (swing by a cafe)✨ I tend to attract myself a lot of shy, introverted people a lot ^^
I am naturally a switch. I am the king of tickle fights as one of the oldest siblings in my family. So be aware~
Oh, Genshin, obviously ✨
I would prefer male, because they are more fun than the gals in this game, sorry ladies ;-;
This is super long.. I’m sorry, love you lots mwah!🌹
CHICHIIIIIIIIII 💜😭😭 I'M SO HAPPY YOU PARTICIPATED, CHICHIISWEETHEART!!! I won't start with how amazing you are because it would take up the whole post 😅 You're here for the event, and a match-up you shall get ❤️💜🍡 *some dango for you to munch on while simping for your match*
🔮 For this event, your match is... CYNO
Tumblr media
🔮 Why did I choose him for you?
• SAME. SWITCH. ENERGY. Both of you can be a meanie tickle monster one second and a giggly flustered mess the instant after • He's not the most extroverted person, while you are a little ball of sunshine. He'd 10000% fall for you. Hard. • He would take you to the desert at night, when it gets colder, to make you admire the breathtaking landscape • He'd say something cheesy like "you're the most breathtaking landscape" just to make you blush and huff in embarrassment • And if you hide your face, some pokes will definitely come! It's Cyno's duty as the General Mahamatra to punish you for the crime of "hiding the most beautiful face of the world" • I'm sure he would try to take you to the desert during the day as well just to show you how different it is with sunlight, but he'd end up dumping a bucket of water on you because he'd notice that you're not the best at handling the heat • Then he'd drag you all the way to Gandharva Ville and beg Tighnari to check you up just to make sure you're actually okay • Idk why but I think Tighnari would wreck both of you because you'd be two little dummies together, but your shenanigans always amuse and endear him • Since you're both athletic people, you could go on morning runs together before Cyno has to go to work, and it would be the general's second favorite moment of the day (the first would be coming home to you after work or after a mission) • I feel like Cyno would fall victim to sweet little sneak attacks... and they always work since his torso and feet are always exposed • Let's not forget that Cyno graduated from the Akademiya, so he could ramble about random facts and explain you everything you wanna know • And obviously... you'd have lots of TCG matches since you like playing games and he likes playing this game! And there may or may not be a penalty for the loser~
🔮 Tickle scenario
Being from Khaenri'ah, you weren't exactly the biggest fan of the Archons, nor the firmest believer, but you were sure that they blessed you in the instant when you met Cyno.
He was just perfect for you... and he made you feel at home in a compliment foreign country like Sumeru. He was so goofy and affectionate, but he also had that solemn aura of authority that made you admire him even more. You two shared many hobbies, which made the two of you get even closer, although the general could be merciless while playing Genius Invokation TCG...
But he usually found a way to make you forgive him for being too aggressive while playing, like he was doing when he dragged you around the whole Avidya Forest to make you see the most beautiful landscapes (he got some pointers from Tighnari).
"So... do you forgive me for yelling while playing?" The general asked you with sad, pleading puppy eyes while you two were sitting on a huge tree branch. "Well, that yell startled me quite a lot..." You pouted. The truth is, you had already forgiven him the moment he took you to a very big and tall tree to watch the sunset, but seeing him so troubled was quite cute.
"I see..." He said in a solemn tone, trying in vain to hide his sadness and mortification, "I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable, and take all the time you need to forgive me..." That tone, that nervous fidgeting with his hands, those sad eyes... you couldn't help it, you bursted out laughing.
"Cyno... babey... I was just messing with you..." You finally confessed, watching his expression turn from guilty to confused to astonished to pouty. "Come on... don't pout! I couldn't help it, your reactions were just too cute~" You teased, but the general remained grumpy.
"Awe... won't you smile for me..? I know you want to~" You whispered the last sentence into his ear while scribbling gently up and down his back, enjoying the series of startled sounds and choked laughter that left your partner's mouth.
"See? Just give in and gimme a smile, holding it in is pointless" You teased in a very sweet tone, something you probably learned while getting wrecked by Yae during your time in Inazuma.
However, Cyno was tough and it would be a lie to say you didn't know... Archons, his head was sturdier than a plank of Adhigama Wood! You were sure that only drastic measures would've been enough with him, and being a good partner you knew exactly what you needed.
In a swift movement, you straddled him and wrapped him in a tight hug, then you started blowing a series of quick little raspberries on his collarbones. It was a little unusual to be so sensitive there, but Cyno was a very peculiar person so he didn't surprise you too much.
"HMMMM- HAHAHAHAHAHAHA OKAY OKAHAHAY IHIHI'M LAHAUGHIHIHIHING STAHAHAHAHAHAP" He finally gave up after lasting so long. "See? It wasn't so hard~" You kissed the white-haired guy on the nose, turning him into a flustered mess.
Eventually, the sun began to set to leave the scene to the night sky, so you and your lover decided to glide down from the tree and head home together.
However, as soon as your feet touched the ground, you stumbled over something you clearly hadn't seen, and before you knew what was going on, you found yourself lying on your stomach on the soft grass with a weight on your back.
Well... that weight had a name, and that name was Cyno.
"Cyno, what the-" You started, but he quickly interrupted you, "I, the General Mahamatra, will not tolerate your crimes of mischief any further. Judgment is upon you!"
With that sentence, he started scribbling on your right thigh and squeezing on the left one, switching techniques to never let you get used to the feeling. "Nonono- HEHEHEHEHEHEHE WAHAHAIT IHIHIHIHI'M SAHAHAHARRY NOHOHOHOT THIHIHIS!!!" You begged, but your pleads fell on deaf ears and the tickle attack continued.
"WAAAAAEEEHEHEHEHEHE PLEHEAHAHAHSE NOHOHOHOHOT THIHIHIS!! ANYTHIHIHIHING BUHUHUT THIHIHIS!!!" You pleaded pointlessly. Cyno knew your limits very well, and he was aware that you still hadn't reached it.
Suddenly, an idea hit you. You managed to turn your arms back and with a bit of luck, you found Cyno's bare feet, completely vulnerable as he was sitting on top of you. It took only a quick scribble to make him jump off and finish that tickle fight.
"You're a meanie..." You panted while you recovered from that brutal thigh-tickle attack. "But you love me~" He replied with a smug knowing smile. "Indeed I do..." You grabbed his hand and finally started heading home.
"Technically I won the tickle fight~" You teased.
"Don't make me go for another round..."

GENSHIN IMPACT FIC
With Betrayal comes Punishment
a/n: my first Genshin fic, also English isn't my first language so bear with me.
Available on AO3
Tumblr media
"Hmmm." Kaeya stroked his chin while observing the giant vases displayed at the market. He even thought of bringing one back to Mondstadt as a souvenir. However, his thoughts spiraled back to his interaction with the Traveler that afternoon.
Of course, Kaeya's purpose for coming all the way to Sumeru is true, but he also has other motives. It's not hard to convince Jean to agree to his proposal mainly because he is known for his love for alcohol. However, he didn't expect him to be here as well.
Dainslief
Kaeya doesn't trust the man one bit but he did help clear up some questions and suspicions he has, so he's somewhat grateful for that. What he wants to know is the reason why he is in Sumeru. Could they be after the same thing? No, that can't be it.
Kaeya sighed and started walking his way outside of the port. Now that all of his professional business is taken care of, it's time for the real reason he wanted to go to Sumeru.
His adventure in Sumeru is unfortunately cut short when he's just a child, he internally laughed as he reminisced about the memory. As a child, there was simply curiosity about his origins but as he grew older inside the Ragnvindr manor, he felt as though there was no reason to dig through his past as he has found a family that actually cares for him.
But now, there's a need for it. He can't hide from it forever, one way or another they will come for him and he has to make a choice. A choice that he once thought would be simple but after what happened that rainy night, he can't allow himself to make the same mistake again.
Kaeya has built and perfected the mask he wears every single day. Keeping things hidden and lying about certain things has become second nature to him. He won't let anyone know anything unless it's truly necessary.
On his way to his destination, Kaeya decided to call upon the source of the uneasy feeling he had bubbling up inside.
"You can come out now, I know you're there."
Within the lush green trees and bushes came out a figure. Tall and blue. A Lector? No, it's a Herald.
"You've been following me since this morning. It's quite rude. Now, tell me what have I done to catch the attention of the Abyss Order." Kaeya spoke.
"Kaeya Alberich, your connection to the abyss is so much greater than you have ever imagined."
"But of course." Kaeya let out an airy chuckle. "I have grown, learned, and discovered a few things."
"I assume you've listened to my conversation with Dainsleif earlier."
"I did notice that you're good friends with the blonde-haired traveler, got yourself acquainted with Dainsleif, and discussed... a few things. I hope you're not forgetting your duty."
"Of course not." Kaeya plastered on a smile.
"It's good that you've managed to put everything together."
"Truth be told, Dainsleif helped me realize a few things."
Realize that everything he thought was just wishful thinking. He's quite stupid to even think that his father would drop him at Mondstadt simply to give him a good life, free of burden. What a farce.
"Your loyalty belongs to the people of Khaenri'ah alone. Together with the Princess, we shall revive the motherland. And if you ever come to betray us, we'll make sure to set you up straight."
Kaeya smiled at the Herald as it disappeared out of sight. Its last words echoed through his mind like a broken record. Almost mocking him. Mocking him on how stupid he has been. Stupid of thinking there's a way out.
His eyes landed on his vision, long ago, he had hoped that a sinner like him having such a thing was a sign that his fate would change. It gave him hope that there was a chance he could be saved. But of course, Celestia isn't merciful for beings like him, for the two pairs of wings in his vision will forever be a constant reminder that he will never be truly a part of Mondstadt.
With one deep breath, he shook all of those thoughts away, his mind going back to the task at hand.
Right, the Avidya Forest, that's where it should be.
------
The rain poured hard as it covered the street with dirt and blood. A lone figure stood behind his army as he stared deep into one's blue eyes.
"You have disappointed me Kaeya." The figure spoke. "This city has tainted you."
The figure laughed, stretching out his arms, abyssal power flowing through him. "No matter, I can fix that."
Within a second, Kaeya felt what he could possibly describe as the most excruciating pain he has felt. He fell to his knees, shivering and clutching his body, for he has no idea what body part to grab onto as the pain is all over him. His body felt like it was on fire, needles slowly piercing deep into his skin, hammers pounding onto his head. The pain grew and grew and all he could do was scream, scream until his lungs gave out, scream until his voice gave out, scream until he couldn't scream any longer. The pain slowly became more prominent in his eye. His right eye to be specific. His right arm latched onto his eyepatch and quickly removed it and held a tight grip on his face, almost as if it reduced the pain he was feeling.
"Kaeya!"
He heard voices calling his name, and footsteps rushing toward him.
"What did you do to him?!" Kaeya heard a familiar voice. Jean? No, it can't be her, the voice is way too deep to belong to Jean. Diluc, maybe?
The red-haired gripped his claymore ready to attack, he hasn't seen Kaeya in such a pitiful state. The man has always been calm and collected. His heart broke into a thousand pieces for his worst nightmare is happening before his very eyes. Kaeya might die. Kaeya might die before he could apologize to him properly.
"What did you do to my brother?!" Diluc shouted, pointing his claymore at the figure before him. His vision becomes red, all he cares about at this point is saving Kaeya. Saving his brother. He can't let him die. There's still so much he has yet to do, so much left unsaid.
"Brother?!" The figure laughed, mocking him. "Kaeya isn't your brother! You can't be brothers with the likes of him! A sinner! A Khaenri'an! A traitor! A monster!"
Kaeya's screams got louder and louder, and his voice became rougher as if his throat was bleeding from all the screaming he'd been doing.
"Please..." Kaeya managed to say. "Kill me..."
"What?!" Diluc turned to him, eyes wide like saucers.
"Kill me Diluc... until I'm still me... Kill me now... before I... before I-I destroy everything... Please... I beg you..." Kaeya groaned, tears pooling in his eyes as he could feel abyssal power welling up inside of him. A power that's cold, dark, and sinister.
"NO!!!" Diluc screamed in protest. "I won't!! I promised myself I will never hurt you ever again!!"
"Please... I-I don't want to hurt anyone... I don't want to hurt Mondstadt... I don't... I-I don't want to hurt you."
"I-I can't do that!! You can't make me do that!! I-I couldn't possibly..."
Kaeya continued screaming until his voice became unrecognizable. Abyssal power surges through him, enveloping his entire being.
"KAEYA!!!" Diluc bolted up from his bed in a cold sweat.
Diluc looked around his surroundings, he was in his room and the sun was shining brightly. A nightmare? But, it felt so real.
Diluc leaned his head in the palm of his hand, contemplating what he just witnessed. His mind was swirling with uneasy thoughts. What was that? He asked himself.
He stood up from his bed and went over to the bathroom to wash his face, hoping to rid himself of the sudden weight he felt over his shoulders, but it was no use. He's a mess.
Only the sound of glass breaking woke him up from his trance-like state.
"What was that?" He asked, rushing downstairs, only to be greeted by an empty space and a broken vase. Colorful shards scattered around the wooden floor.

So I did the newest quest and I have some thoughts. I'm putting it under a break for ppl who don't want spoilers!
First of all, ok wow. I knew most of this going into it, but it was still a lot to take.
I do want to say that I trust the other sibling's judgment. I play as Aether so I'm going to refer to the other twin as Lumine. I trust Lumine, and I'm sure she's doing what she thinks is right.
She was probably helping and protecting Khaenri'ah in the very same way we're helping Mondstadt and, to a slightly lesser extent, Liyue. If Aether lost the battle and every single inhabitant of Mondstadt was corrupted by an opposing force, he would also do whatever he could to help and avenge his friends. Maybe he wouldn't see if it went too far, or maybe there would be no end of justice. I can understand the path Lumine took, and I can understand how she would feel seeing Aether defend those people. Even if it was hundreds of years later.
I don't think the twins feel the passage of time the same, since they're very likely immortal (this was actually not a surprise). And, if she has been primarily in the abyss, maybe she isn't aware of how much things have changed. Maybe it doesn't even matter, since her goal is and has been the archons that destroyed Khaenri'ah and they're still kicking.
On that note, I trust Venti. His whole entire thing is protecting people and their right to freedom. He doesn't believe in imposing his version of freedom onto others, and he is by and for humankind. Literally not that it matters, though, because it's unlikely that Venti was involved.
If the field tiller got to Old Mondstadt after Decarabian fell (and it had to have, otherwise it never would have gotten through the storm wall, it never would have bumped into Andrius, and the fireballs would have happened during, not post, tyrant), then that still doesn't tell us how long it wandered.
Khaenri'ah was probably pretty far away, it fully could have walked for hundreds of years. Venti could have still been an elemental spirit during this time. And if it didn't, and the timeline matched when Venti was made archon, then I still trust him. For the former reasons, and because he canonically slept for (I think) 1200 years. I'd bet anything that my dude was asleep during this time, and that that's a big part of the reason why people call him lazy and deadbeat.
Also, Venti doesn't like Zhongli. He calls him a blockhead and hasn't really had anything nice to say about him other than expressing a mild desire to go say hi. If I was a survivor of a war for freedom, and I knew a guy who helped flatten an entire kingdom just because, then I wouldn't have much nice to say either.
Venti also calls the pyro archon a "war mongerer". I'm not sure if this is meant to reference the original, or the current archon. And I'm also not sure when the original archon was replaced, so the current archon could have been involved with Khaenri'ah as well.
Anyway, I don't trust Zhongli. I like him, but we know his morals to be slightly corrupt. He makes decisions that don't benefit humans, he didn't help out with Osias, and he governed Liyue directly as an archon instead of indirectly like Venti. Morax is also known to be a less forgiving god than Barbatos, especially just looking at how he handles broken contracts.
That said, the game has already played this one out with us. I think the situation with Morax being accused of murdering the Salt Archon was meant to foreshadow this. He was innocent there, and the Salt archon was really killed by her own people as a mercy.
I'm not saying Khaenri'ah ended itself. It's a possibility but I dont know enough yet to say. What I am saying, however, is that Zhongli was innocent the last time. I wonder if he'll have a good explanation this time, too. I hope so.
I'm with the Traveler on this one. We need to hear what the archons have to say for themselves before making any finite judgment calls. If I had to guess, though, then I'd definitely say that I think Venti is innocent and I think that Zhongli regrets his actions deeply.

i am coming to you and asking kindly if you would like to share some kinji / tonia interactions with the class
Tumblr media
(SINCE YOU ASKED NICELY:
prefix that this is going to be a mostly tol toni aka Freyja ramble because as much as i love interactions with both my tonis, smol toni is still the prima donna princess and she gets All the interactions anyway by default if no one specifies so -
since Freyja is based in the abyss for the most part, she has easy access to anyone there - the most unfortunate souls to have fallen down there, the abyss order, khaenri'ah or anything else really!! also being connected to the leylines, she might be considered a prime example of someone to seek out for the sake of esoteric, forbidden knowledge.
she has a very specific reputation for abyssal residents and leyline-knowledgeable people, so i think it would be extremely interesting to write her with such muses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but i also want her to do more than twiddle her little hermit fingers down there, so i'd love to write more interactions with her and like, anyone else. non-abyss people. kick her out of her little tower to have a nice picnic in teyvat - sure, in-character wise it's stupid difficult to make that happen, but my god i want to write her with other characters outside of the abyss bc Freyja is a very Nice muse.
always smiley, always kind, 100% gentle and helpful big sister material. interactions would be so sweet and cute with her and im waaaah cuteness......... cuteness... is... the True conqueror of the world...! childe will win battles but he can't ever win the war of cute, this is why both my tonis are the true winners always haha /jk
sPEAKING OF CHILDE!!!!!! please. moRE SIBLING CONTENT!! MORE SIBLING CONTENT!!!!!!!! Freyja being a Tonia that survived the literal end of her version of teyvat means she will always, Always be an alternate to an actual, canon toni for any childe. (unless discussed otherwise.) but compared to smol toni, Freyja is also much closer to the current fandom interpretation of a canon toni in terms of personality, which i think is very funny bc yeah, if it weren't for tol toni being an immortal twenty-something abyssal person, she really could just be a canon toni in dynamics lmao
there are also some interactions i'd like for my smol toni specifically - mainly people who could have pre-determined relations with her based on her backstory, like the tsartisa and the harbingers and even collei!! i'd also like to write her with an azhdaha and nahida bc leyline buddies......... but yeah!!!!!!
edit because flower can Not read apparently: for kinji specifically, smol toni wants free fox butler and tol toni will give him pets and scritches and snacks if he asks any time. this is unconditional. except tol toni wont make a contract with him unfortunately bc her soul already belongs to something else so she can’t give hers, sowwy kinji :( )
