why “why are we like this?” isnt cringe.
alrifht it’s like nearly midnight and i’m probably gonna conk out right after this but i felt the need to make one last post before bed tonight.
when heartstopper first came out, i was in love. this show was fuckin everything to me, from the fact that it came from one of my favorite webtoons to the fact that the soundtrack is an absolute banger.
however, for some friends of mine, the same could not be said.
“it was so good!” they’d say, “but there were so many parts where i just had to take a break from the amount of second hand embarrassment i was getting.”
of course, the absolute heartstopper fanatic i was, went, “second hand embarrassment? what didn’t you like about it, it was amazing!”
and almost every time, whenever i asked that question, the one scene that came up was the “why are we like this?” scene.
here’s a hot take: this scene isn’t cringe, and if you say it is, you obviously haven’t had a why are we like this moment before, and if i’m being completely honest? sucks to be you! (/lh)
to be completely honest, for a while, i didn’t get it. i totally understood what they meant by how embarrassing it was to watch and how cringeworthy it was. after you think about it for a while, it really seems like such a pick me thing to say.
and then recently, i personally had a “why are we like this?” moment.
to keep things vague for my friend and for myself, the long story short is that we got into this fight. a big one, and i’m pretty sure it was our first one, too. it was heart wrenching, it was aggravating, and i cried for hours over it. as cliche as it may sound, i really think that in that moment i got what all those breakup songs talked about, that feeling of your heart just aching for something that you’re about to lose or that you’ve already lost. i remember at the time, it certainly felt like i’d lost it. lost our friendship, lost them, lost everything. i didn’t know what to do. there was so much uncertainty, so many “i don’t know”s and it was absolutely terrifying.
and then they came back (they had an appointment), and sent me this long paragraph and told me they loved me and that they wanted me to stay, if i wanted it. and i remember thinking “you DUMBASS, of course i want to stay, i didn’t know if you still wanted ME!”
and so i called them and told them exactly that. and it was so hard to get out and communicate it with each other but we got there and in the end the entire argument transpired because of the fact that we wanted the same things and we were thinking the same things but we didn’t COMMUNICATE ANY OF IT, and thought the other person didn’t want what we wanted individually (which was just. not. true.)
i was so mad about it because personally i have this thing where i openly yell at my books and tv to reprimand characters for not communicating and that’s exactly what this friend and i did. and after we made up, we just kept laughing and crying (out of happiness this time!) and we kept repeating “we’re SO stupid!” and i don’t think i’d ever felt something more relieving than that.
later on, we stayed on call and a memory was brought up and we both thought of the same thing, and they said, in the most fond yet exasperated tone i think i’ve ever heard from them, “why are we like this?”
and. holy shit. i get it. i got it. this is not cringe or cliche or embarrassing, it’s. it’s everything.
it’s being so stupidly in love with someone that you aren’t logical anymore, and it’s that illogical-ness that’s driven by love that goes TWO ways so it’s not just one of you being stupid with love it’s the BOTH of you being stupid with each other and FOR each other.
it’s “wow we’re such fucking idiots” but thinking about the outcome and thinking you wouldn’t want to change a thing about what happened and how it happened.
it’s being selfless and unknowingly wanting the same thing, but being willing to give it up at the mere indication that the other person doesn’t want the same thing as you.
it’s just love making you stupid for each other and it doesn’t make sense, and you realize it doesn’t make sense so you ask one another “why are we like this?”
it’s that fond tone as you ask the question that indicates that it doesn’t really matter why you’re like this, because you’re like this together
it’s not individualized- it’s “we.” the both of us together, as a pair, why are we like this?
it’s doing embarrassing things for each other! it’s being dumb for each other! i may be dumb for you but you’re dumb for me and so it evens out. we balance each other that way!
it’s not depreciating, it’s not uncertain, it’s not giving up.
and most of all, it’s not cringe.
TL;DR: imagine being so gone for someone that your logic is stupid. how is that level of love and devotion cringe?

Vanishing point: Chapter Four
Tumblr media
prologue - one - two - three - four - five - six - seven - eight
Does anyone even care about chaptered fics and OFCs at this point??? This chapter is constructed with three things only: Juliet being a hoe, John being angry... Also we’re in the exact middle of the story, yet I still haven’t worked out the ending. But I have an idea for a prequel...
Words: 4886; Warnings: few angsty bits, also smut; Summary: Information travels through Continental with the speed of light and Juliet is faced with consequences of her recklessness.

John didn’t look pleased as he pulled her into the room after him, the door falling shut in an instant. His eyes were dark, no trace left of his sympathy from few moments ago and she could hardly speak before his thick voice cut through the silence of the isolated room.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” he spat out through gritted teeth.
Juliet tensed, “Me?” she questioned, raising her eyebrows in confusion. She really hadn’t done anything that could have possibly angered him. Unless…
“Yes, you. You’re the only whore I can see in this room” his voice was cold and he still gripped her arm firmly, making her feel pain at this moment from how tight his grip was.
“I’m not a whore, John…”
He closed the space between them with ease, making her walk backwards as he came towards her until her back hit the mirrored wall. He didn’t have to touch her, it was like he could make her move with merely a look of his eyes.
“You really get off on this, don’t you?” she held his gaze, the intensity of it almost bringing her to her knees, and she had to gather all her confidence to resist, “You cannot stand not being in control and this is all you’ve got to get there…” she paused, licking her lips. “Intimidation, that’s how you work now.”
The corner of his mouth twitched upwards, his fingers stretching like he was aching to put his hands on her, to touch her in every possible way, it seemed like he just needed to feel her tremble under his touch. He chuckled, “You like this, Juliet, simply fucking admit it…”
She could provoke him until he lost himself, until he’d allow himself to slip over the edge, “You don’t know me, Wick.”
His eye twitched and he pressed his lips together, his hand suddenly gripping on to her hip, a slight nudge to press her back against the wall and stepping closer, his face inches away from hers, “You don’t believe your own words…” he drawled, “Juliet, I know you. I know how your mind works, how your body works too…”
Juliet swallowed hard, desperately trying to not react in an attempt to disregard the truth in his words, “Yeah?” she asked, the only challenge she could muster with the way he looked at her, with the way the sleeves of shirt strained over the muscles of his arms, sheer and tight, half-undone at the front, his tanned chest exposed. The look on his face was hard, unchanged, calm. But there was something, a flicker of danger, mischief.
“Yeah” he said, his voice deep, collected, “I know a whore when I see one.”
She licked her lips, trying to cover for a shaky exhale, “Is that so?”
“Just spare us your questions, alright?” he scratched his nose with the back of his hand, his eyes locked with hers, darkening when he stepped closer, “I know what you were doing and with whom. And I’m quite certain you want to do the same to me, if not more.”
Before she could ask, give him another challenge, he pressed his flat hand to her collarbone, dragging it up until it closed around her neck, his fingers cold, their movement slow, tortuous.
“This is what you want, isn’t it?”
She sucked in a breath, knowing there was no concealing the way her heart was racing, the way he was driving her mad within mere seconds, the way she already ached for him. He was right. He knew exactly how her body worked.
“You were jealous, weren’t you?”
His jaw locked, his lip twitching, “You never learn…” his grip tightened around her neck, the silent rage building in his voice.
She whimpered, pressing her lips together instantly when she heard the sound slipping out, but her body betrayed her, lifting off the wall to just press herself closer to him.
Immediately, a sense of regret rushed through her.
His lips curled into a mocking smile, there was no dulling his satisfaction, “Of course…” he chuckle, “There’s only one thing I don’t really understand…”
She breathed out shakily, her only defense now to hold his gaze, to not give away more of how badly she needed him, swallowing hard, his thumb pressing into the soft skin under her chin.
“We both know what you wanted…” he drawled, “Why don’t you just simply asked, Juliet? You didn’t had to go to him…”
Bastard. He said that now, but what part of his cold demeanor when she was around him suggested that she could have him if she just said.
“I-I’ll remember that…” her voice wasn’t nearly as steady as she would have liked, but it did the trick. It got a reaction.
“Oh, yes, please keep that in your dirty little mind” he drawled, “Remember my words, Juliet. The moment you come to my room and beg me to take you, to make you cry me name until your throat is sore… I will give you exactly what you want.”
“J-Jonathan…” she breathed out shakily, the filth dripping from his thick voice clouding her senses, her mind firing images at her that she knew she’d never forget, the vision of him pounding her so vivid, she knew she was already soaking for him.
He smirked, “Yes? I know how easy it sounds. But you’re… you’re too fucking proud, Juliet. Even with your juices running down your legs, you still have to be a fucking brat, why don’t make it as it should be: simple?” He once again applied pressure with his fingers around her throat, his eyes dark, and cruel.
Without a warning, his hand fell from her hip to hike up the skirt of her dress, the harsh see through fabric bunching around her waist and with ease, he pushed his knee forward to force her legs apart, his fingers finding their way to her folds, the flimsy fabric of her panties not covering much and she whimpered when his rough fingertips came in contact with her heat, gathering the embarrassing amount of wetness, “That’s what I thought…”
She gasped as he shoved two of his fingers inside her, her knees buckling and he pressed his body against hers to hold her up, his eyes never leaving hers. He wanted to watch what he did to her, gripped her throat tighter the second her eyes fell shut.
“Please…” she cried, her hips instantly bucking forward to get his fingers to sink deeper inside her.
“Please?” He repeated, his tone mocking, teasing, “Look at me when I’m touching your cunt, slut.”
She forced her eyes open and looked back at him, crying out when he moved his fingers fast inside her, starting fucking her effortlessly, enjoying the look on her face immensely, the desperation, the need, her burning desire.
“Oh yes, that’s right…” he drawled, curling his fingers roughly inside her, her body trembling forward and she whined, needy, her hand gripping his shoulder, “eyes on me.”
She whimpered, it was like his eyes were searing hers, it made her so much more aware of her reactions, the way she looked back at him. But now there was no hiding how badly she wanted him, her eyes threatening to close, her lips parted, little moans rolling of her tongue as he drove his fingers in and out of her, curling them inside her over and over again, she couldn’t get enough, her hips bucked up towards his touch and she pressed herself against him desperately.
“You missed that, didn’t you?” he drawled, his hands moving from her neck down her body, gripping at her breasts restricted by the hard material of her dress, “Being treated like the slut you are?” she could feel his strong heartbeat in his chest, the muscles in his bicep straining. Her breathing was shallow and she ached to unwind him as well.
John buried his fingers deep inside her, curled them once again, moving them faster into that spot over and over again, her body jerking forward and she lost her balance, her head falling down on his shoulder and he held her up against the wall.
“I asked you a question” he growled. He could feel her shaky breaths, little sighs against his bare skin, swallowing hard when he suddenly felt something else entirely, her soft lips attaching to his neck, sucking eagerly, her teeth sinking into his skin and his composure faltered, the movements of his fingers ceasing, his eyes fluttering shut. He exhaled sharply, a strangled sigh falling from his lips.
Her body curved into his when she felt him relax, reveling in the feeling of finally marking him, but just when she was about to make sure it would really stick, his hand was in her hair, he snapped out of it, pulling her head back and she whined, her eyes fluttering open to meet his, dark with rage and she knew that now she’d really messed up.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” he spat, his voice calm, yet threatening and he drew his fingers out of her quickly.
She whimpered at the loss, her empty walls closing around nothing and she pushed her hips forward in a desperate attempt to get him to touch her again but she was trapped between him and the wall now, the mark on his neck already fading.
“Don’t you see that you don’t fucking touch me the way I touch you” he groaned. Before she could protest, beg him even, he grabbed her hips and spun her. “Turn around” he growled, pushing her against the mirror, his fingers wrapping around the back of her neck.
“Jonathan…” she whimpered.
“What? You still want to force your demands on me? You’re nothing but a little slut and I’ll use you like one.”
The need growing in the pit of her stomach was becoming unbearable, he’d driven her to the edge and left her there, his hot touch building her up even more, the way he held her down, the way he took complete control of her, it made her want him more than anything.
“P-please…” she cried, “please fuck me.”
“The thing is, little slut…” he drawled, swallowing hard, his jaw tense, “I might know what you want but… that doesn’t mean you’re getting it.”
“B-But…”
“I know, I know. I’m aware of what I said earlier. You have to be a good girl, don’t disobey me and fucking don’t talk back to me. Understood?”
She swallowed, her cheek pressed against the cold mirror. The dull throbbing between her legs was growing more and more prominent, hotter and gradually unbearable.
“Juliet… I asked you a fucking question!”
“U-Understood…” she whimpered, her breath shaking, fogging the mirror.
“Mmmm…” he hummed, stepping back and just holding her against the wall, contemplating, taking his sweet time when she was so desperate for him to just give in and screw her against the wall. “Look at yourself… so fucking needy and desperate…” he exhaled slowly. “I could’ve fucked you in the hall, when you stepped out of your room in this ridiculous piece of fabric… Do all sluts dress like that or it’s just you?” she could see in the mirror how he licked his lips, “I’m slowly getting bored with you showing the whole world that you’re a dirty little slut.”
She froze, the word worrying her more than anything. If there was something she didn’t want him to be with her, it was bored.
“Please…”
“‘Please’ what?” he groaned, “Please punish you? Because I think that’s the exact thing I’m planning on doing right now…”
Her breath hitched in her throat as he dragged his hand over the flimsy see through material of her panties, before sliding it down her legs, “Because you’re jealous?”
John shuffled behind her, toying with the idea of using his hand firstly, before it landed back on her ass with a smack, his lips now pressed close to her ear, “Don’t you fucking dare-” he took a breath. “You’re crossing over my limits and it won’t end good…”
Smack.
“You would regret it…” he spoke slowly, “You wouldn’t get away with it…”
Juliet yelped, crying out desperately. She really didn’t want him to let her get away with it. She wanted him to snap, to bruise and to fuck her again as he pleased. But she knew what he wanted.
“Please punish me.”
He chuckled, another smack to her already reddened skin silencing her instantly, “Oh, I don’t know if you’d get through it…”
She held her breath when he stepped away, his hands leaving her and she breathed out with relief when she heard him unbuckle his belt, only turning around in confusion to look over her shoulder when no sound of a zipper followed, her body tensing when she saw him starting to wind his belt around his hand, gripping the buckle, half of it dangling freely.
Few things had ever given John the satisfaction that the look on her face gave him when she figured out how he planned to proceed. The divine mixture of the excitement it sparked in her eyes and the realization that she was completely at his mercy. As much as he wanted to put her in her place, as much he enjoyed the upper hand, it pleased him more than anything that she wanted him to do this.
“Beg.”
Her breath hitched in her throat, “W-What?”
“Oh you heard me fucking well, slut” he said, swallowing as his eyes wandered up and down her body before locking eyes with her again, stepping closer to her and taking hold of her hair to force her head to turn so she was looking at herself in the mirror, “You’re gonna beg me for your punishment and you’re gonna keep your eyes on me.”
Her eyes snapped up and she breathed out shakily, his gaze enough to have her trembling, making her swallow hard.
“Punish me” she whispered.
He chuckled darkly, “I’m afraid I can’t hear you, slut…”
She whimpered as he tugged slightly on her hair and she forced herself to look at him in the mirror, his face so close to hers, his chest pressed close enough to her back that she could feel his heart beating, hers leaping twice as fast.
“Please, Jonathan…” she repeated, her voice now even more desperate, but it was exactly what he wanted. “Please punish me for being a slut.”
He couldn’t suppress a low groan, stepping back once again without breaking eye contact and with one quick flick of his wrist, the belt smacked against her already red skin with a sharp sound that made her lurch forward, her eyes closing temporarily, a soft whine falling from her lips, “F-Fuck…”
“No, no…” he said slowly, shaking his head, “this aren’t the words you say…”
She whimpered, the throbbing between her legs matched the throb of her skin where he’d slapped her. “T-Thank you…”
“Mmmm, yes, that’s it…” he drawled, reaching back only to bring the belt down on the other side.
“Oh, f-f- thank you…” she cried, tears stinging in her eyes from just the second blow, but the belt burned so much worse than his hand had and yet, she found herself craving more, already tensing as she waited for another whip.
John hadn’t been focused on her eyes exclusively, he enjoyed the slow change of colour in her skin too much, the way her body curved against the wall and then back towards him, the way her lip trembled. But that didn’t stop him from insisting she looked at him and he gave her another smack with the belt before stepping forward and wrapping his fingers around the back of her neck again to pull her head back with her hair. “Are you still disobeying me even while I’m already punishing you?”
“I-I’m sorry…” she whimpered, her shiny eyes staring right into his in the mirror again.
He almost got lost again, got lost in how much he craved her, how much he enjoyed this and how much he admired her endurance, her confidence, her ability to wrap him around her little finger so effortlessly. She was truly a picture. And he needed more.
“And?” he growled.
Her breathing shallow she tried to focus, to make sense of what he wanted among the cloud of lust and desire that blurred her mind, “T-Thank you…” she finally managed.
“Mmmm, yes…” He drawled, let go of her hair and smoothed his hand down her warm back, her burning ass, “I know you can be a good slut if you want to…”
“Jonathan…”
“Yes, slut?”
“More.”
He chuckled, the belt striking her again, again, again, tears running down her cheeks now, the sensation so intense, making her skin burn that she couldn’t control herself and he felt himself almost come undone simply from the view that followed, the way she still arched her back and pushed her ass towards him and off the wall.
“Oh, fuck, Juliet…” he groaned. He could hardly contain himself now, his own desire growing, torn between giving in to finally feel her around him again, feel her beg for his cock and make her come undone for him, and continuing his punishment, the torture doing more for both of them than he ever could have dreamt of.
John was looking at all of her except for her eyes and she dared to turn her head to look back at him, her bottom lip trapped between her teeth. “Slacking?”
His head snapped up and without a warning he brought the belt forward to slap against her skin again, this time meeting the curve of her ass and she yelped, a sense of relief rushing through her. He tried to compose himself, “Still … haven’t you had enough, Juliet?”
She pressed her forehead against the glass of the mirror, looked at herself, her make up still flawless, the tears pearling off her cheeks like lotus petals, the skin of her throat and over her collarbones flushed. She cleared her throat in an attempt to steady her voice, “No.”
“I think you forgot something…” he drawled, striking two more blows against her ass.
She whimpered, pressed herself against the mirror again, her hard nipples painfully pressing into the rough material of her dress. “T-Thank you, I’m so sorry…” she cried, the slaps staring to burn her skin more and more. “Thank you.”
“Again” he groaned.
“Thank you” she whispered, her heart racing. She was painfully aware of the wetness running down her legs, she was soaking, was sure that if he kept going, she wouldn’t even need him to touch her to make her orgasm. She was almost salivating at just the thought of his cock finally filling her. But she’d learned from her mistake, knew that there was no guarantee he would actually give in.
“No” he said, his voice calmer now. “Apologize to me again.”
She knew she had to play her cards carefully now, because there was a fine line between driving him mad enough for him to fuck her and driving him too mad which meant denying her, “I’m sorry, Jonathan. I’m sorry I sneaked out to see him. I’m sorry I didn’t simply asked you…”
The corners of his mouth twitched upwards and he swallowed hard, eyes fixed on her again and she met his gaze instantly. “Juliet…” he said slowly.
“Y-Yes?”
Her heart leaped when she heard a shuffle, the anticipated sound of his zipper and he stepped closer to her, the way the tip of his hard cock brushed up against the dripping heat between her legs almost making her cry out with relief.
“I’m gonna fuck you so hard you’d feel it for weeks…”
She whimpered, his words too much, the mere image of them coming true had her shaking and she shut her eyes, tensing, holding her breath.
His voice cut through the temporary silence, sharp and threatening, “Under one condition.”
She exhaled, “Anything.”
“That’s what I like to hear” he hummed, nudging his hips forward slightly, enjoying the response of her body immensely, how she tried to buck back against him but his hand came down on the small of her back instantly to steady her, the belt hitting the floor.
“What do you want me to do, Jonathan?”
“Open your eyes” he bit his lip.
She obeyed, the intensity of his eyes gazing into hers made her want to do anything he asked.
“That’s it, little slut… I want you to keep your eyes open. I want to watch them roll back when my cock fills your tight cunt.”
She nodded obediently, attempting once again to push her hips back towards him, remaining restricted by his grip, nails digging into her skin at her resistance.
“You’re not gonna cum without my permission.”
Another nod.
“And when I allow you, you will look at me. You’re gonna look at me and you’re gonna thank me for allowing you.”
“I promise.”
She tensed when his grip loosened on her back and his hips snapped up and he hissed as his cock filled her up all the way, stretching her walls with ease, “Oh, f-fuck…” he steadied himself with his hand on her hip, the other pressing flat against the mirror, “Your cunt is fucking drooling…”
She cried, the stretch of his cock, the final relief had tears dwell up in the corners of her eyes again, the intensity too much for her and she fell forward, barely able to hold herself up on her heels and his hand ran up her front, squeezed her breast before his fingers wrapped securely around her throat, another nudge of his hips, another whimper and he was buried deep inside her, her walls squeezing him, fluttering desperately around his throbbing length.
With his hand no longer holding her in place she attempted to fuck herself on his cock, earning her nothing but his hips snapping forward until she was trapped between his hard body and the wall, his grip around her throat temporarily tightening, “Hey hey hey… Juliet… I set the pace.”
She whimpered, “Please.”
“You asked for this” he drawled, once again loosening his grip around her throat and he drew back his hips, chuckling at the way hers followed and he slammed them forward again, feeling the way her breath got caught in her throat under his touch without even applying pressure.
“I-I did…” she cried, “I-I want you, o-oh, please…”
He kept her trapped between his punishing thrusts and the wall, kept his fingers around her throat, the way she obeyed him, took his every move with gratitude, the whimpers and begs falling from her lips every time his cock filled her up the only reward he needed, it drove him so close so quickly that when he paused to compose himself it was more to hold back than to tease her.
“Don’t stop” she cried when his movements ceased and he held his cock inside her for a moment, his own eyes almost fluttering shut from the way she squeezed him purposely, a low guttural moan falling from his lips, “Jonathan, please…”
He squeezed his fingers around her throat again, “Look at yourself, Juliet…” he drawled, his voice not as steady as he would have liked, “You’re so hungry for my cock, aren’t you? Fucking insatiable, fucking needy. Why don’t you beg me, slut? Show me that you truly deserve it.”
Without a warning, he reached around her body the calloused tips of his fingers pressing against her clit and she let out a strangled cry, trembling beyond her own control. She was so close to cumming on his cock, “Please, no…” she cried, “I can’t hold on, f-fuck…”
He raised his eyebrows, chuckling, she had no idea how much he enjoyed playing with her, “Did you just told me to stop?” he drew his cock out halfway, satisfied beyond reason with how she backed up on him instantly and he teasingly pressed his fingertips against her clit again, the slightest circular motions with the slightest bit of pressure but it was too much for her.
“N-No…” she cried, “Please don’t stop, please … please, please let me cum…”
His game was doing nothing to decrease how turned on he was, if anything she was merely coaxing him to let go faster.
“I’m begging you, please, I’ll do anything, a-anything, please…”
He let out a shaky breath, brought his hand up to clamp over her mouth, forcing two of his fingers past her lips, “Be quiet.”
She struggled to speak, mumbling incoherently around his fingers.
It was almost too much for him, the desperate demand his last attempt to maintain his control. “Suck on my fingers or I will make you suck my cock. I’ll tie your hands and you won’t cum.”
Juliet froze, her attempts to speak ceasing and she sucked greedily on his fingers, trembling when his cock finally filled her completely again, her eyes rolling back. She was so close, getting wetter and wetter around his cock with every push of his fingers against her clit, the stretch of her walls, the burn of them around his cock, she was desperate.
“That’s a good slut…”
She cried out, his words sending another rush of wetness between her legs.
John groaned. “Oh, you like that?” He drawled, “You like being called a good slut?” He was barely holding on now, his thrusts becoming harder, deeper, the way she shuddered each time his cock filled her up driving him closer and closer to the edge, “You’re being a very good slut right now, Juliet, yes, that’s it, suck on my fingers, oh f-fuck…”
He was letting go, his words fueling her, had her beyond satisfied, his guttural moans, thick drawls of pleasure, it made her heart swell with pride. It was all her.
“Are you gonna be a good slut for me from now on?”
She whimpered, her eyes wide as she stared back at him as he stared her into submission and she tried to answer him, her words reduced to mere mumbles around his fingers.
He pressed his fingers down on her tongue, bucked his hips up to push his cock deep inside her, “No, Juliet, no words needed…”
She gave up her struggle, nodded as she held his gaze, shuddering when he pressed his fingers harshly against her clit again. She was so wet that she was surely dripping onto the floor soon, he skillfully drove her to the edge over and over again before letting her building orgasm fade, never quite allowing her to get there. She didn’t know how much more she could take, she was so lost in the pleasure he gave her, fucking her harder, pressing her against the mirror, holding her gaze like he owned her.
“F-fuck, Juliet, you’re drooling…” he groaned, “Is is how bad you wanted me? Do you think you deserve it now?”
She nodded eagerly, her eyes wide, silently begging him and with one last push of his hips, he buried himself deep inside her, held himself there as he mercilessly rubbed at her clit and it took everything she had for her to force her eyes open and look back at him when he finally gave her permission.
“Let go.”
The pleasure ripped through her, her walls melting around his thick cock, her body shaking violently and she gasped when he drew his fingers from her mouth, held her throat tightly instead, focused on the way her eyes rolled back and he released deep inside, coating her walls, his cock throbbing with the way her walls squeezed tightly around him as if to hold him there and keep him from pulling out too soon. He was about to punish her, disappointed almost that she hadn’t obeyed, reaching back.
“T-Thank you…” she whispered. “Thank you, Jonathan.”
His hand smoothed down her back instead, much more gentle than originally intended, the way her body shook in his hands, the way she panted, fogging the mirror had him beyond satisfied. “Good slut…” he drawled, his grip loosening from around her throat, his chest pressed up against her back, their hearts now beating in sync.
“Thank you” she mumbled again, her eyes now falling shut, her forehead resting against the cold mirror and she whimpered when he pulled out, his hand remaining on her hip for longer than necessary and she used the brief moment to steady herself, made sure she could stand on her heels, her legs wobbly as she pushed herself off the wall and adjusted her dress, hissing at the sharp pain the rough material of the dress caused her abused skin.
She ran her fingers through her hair in an attempt to fix it but with a look into the mirror, she was beyond fixing, splotches of red scattered across her chest with a slight imprint of John’s hand.
When she turned around, he once again looked completely put together, not a hair on his head out of place, the redness and the sweat barely visible now. She hadn’t even caught her breath.
His hand came down slowly on the small of her back to guide her out of the room silently.

Note
Just out of curiosity what was Sifs reaction to Thor sending Torunn to Midgard when she was a baby?
//ty for being patient with meee
to start this is basically her face:
Tumblr media
Angry, sad, more anger. Sif isn’t someone who was exactly running towards motherhood with arms wide open, so by the time she finally has come to accept it, and prepared herself, and had her daughter, and really let herself enjoy this new family....now someone wants to take it away from her? Fuck no. That’s her daughter. War Goddess Mama Bear.
Now, @lxghtnxnggxrl has great headcanon that it was more realm instability  and wars etc that caused them to send Torunn to Midgard rather than this ‘gotta teach my daughter a lesson’ bullshit. This is basically the only way I can justify it myself too. Sif wouldn’t give up her child for just about anything. But if there is active danger, the kind Sif and Thor need to be on the front lines for, and say, maybe even there’s already been an attack on Torunn? Yeah, Thor could probably talk Sif down from absolutely murdering him for sending Torunn away.
(Because let’s face it. Sif forgives Thor for fucking everything, [unless the writer is Jason-fuckboy-Aaron but he likes to pretend Sif doesn’t exist so I like to pretend he doesn’t] but ‘I’m taking our daughter away’ is pretty above and beyond)
I know u want a drabble though so have one:
um. is feels?
-
She wakes in the middle of the night, the glittering sky of Asgard and its myriad of swirling colors a soft glow through their windows in the palace.
Something’s wrong.
Her instincts know it before her consciousness catches up. Thor’s spot in the bed is cold, it’s too quiet. She rushes to check on Torunn, and finds her daughter’s cradle empty. Sif’s unease flares to terror. Three weeks ago they had caught word of plots to steal or kill their daughter. With Thor gone that must mean he has her, and he would not leave Sif alone if they both were not safe, but in these precious months of their new family Sif has found herself inhabiting all the stories of mother’s instincts. She supposes in a way she expected nothing less, always prone to protecting. It is half of her calling after all.
But now her husband and daughter are missing in the dead of night and no matter how she repeats it to herself Sif can’t find full calm. She walks through their rooms and it takes all her efforts not to call out to summon the guard. Instead she sits on their bed and finds herself twisting one of Torunn’s little blankets over and over in her hands while she watches the sky out the window. She’ll just wait for them. Just a little while.
It’s almost two hours until Thor returns. Dawn is near to cracking and even Sif’s worrying hands have gone still, but she remains sitting up watching the sky. The sound of the door breaks her from her daze and it’s like breathing again. She stands and hurries to Thor and her relief in seeing him is stopped with quirked brow. “Where’s Torunn?”
The look upon his face is weary and he takes a moment to answer her.
“Where’s Torunn, Thor?” she asks again.
He puts a hand up to soothe, “She’s safe.” He turns to ensure the door is closed and ushers Sif further inside their room. “Sif, there’s something we need to talk about.”
He’s being guarded and she doesn’t like it. She doesn’t like any of this. “About what? Is there more bad news at the fronts? Have any other worlds become swept up in this? Where’s Torunn, she’ll need feeding soon.”
“Torunn’s fine, Sif. Please.” Thor takes her hands and leads her to sit at the edge of the bed. He kneels before her and keeps holding her hands.  “Sif, I need you to listen to me. I know...I know this will be hard for you. But this is for the best of all of us, I need you to remember that. You are not alone in this. I am here with you.”
He says all of it without looking in her eyes and that scares her more than any part of his words.
“Thor, what do you mean? Thor... Where’s Torunn?” she asks, shaking her head slowly.
He lets out a breath that lets her know she will not like the answer.
“She is not here anymore-” The sharp intake of Sif’s own breath causes Thor to look up quickly, and jump to correct his words, “Not like that! She is safe, I mean it.” He breathes in courage. “She is on Midgard. I brought her there so she may be safe in these times.”
“Midgard!” Sif pulls her hands from his, “What do you mean she’s on Midgard, what do you mean safe? Tell me right this instant, Thor,” she demands. “What have you done?”
He puts his hands up in surrender. He’s been anticipating this fight. “I took our daughter somewhere she would be safe. Somewhere she could be kept out of the way and protected while we get these wars under control. You and I and Heimdall are the only ones in Asgard who know where she is now, no one will be able to find her.”
“But I don’t know where she is!” Sif pushes up to stand, hurt and anger welling up in confusion over all this and Thor stands to follow her. “All you’ve said is Midgard, that tells me nothing. Who is she with, when can I see her, when do we bring her back? Thor, explain this, please.”
“She is with Tony Stark and the Avengers, they are skilled, and they will protect her -” Thor reaches out to hold her arms. “I can see you wanting to fight already, but they can handle this, I promise you.” For a moment she is almost ready to believe him. One moment. Then he continues speaking. “They will handle this for as long as is needed, but until then we cannot go to her. It would only alert suspicion.”
Sif tears out of Thor’s grasp, gentle as it was. “No! No. No, we go to her now,” she declared, standing firm with hurt eyes.  “We are going to retrieve her, and we are bringing her to my mothers, and then my husband will not dare tell me that I cannot see my own daughter.”
“Sif.”
“What?”
They were always a stubborn pair and her eyes burned bright and wild in her upset. In the stillness of morning they stared one another down. Sif with set jaw and Thor with heavy brow.
“They would come after your mothers too, and I will not be the cause of that,” he warned.
“They are sorceresses! Their magic is strong, they are more than capable of warding off any threats that come. We know what to watch for, we will not be caught so unawares again! Nothing even got close. Torunn was perfectly safe. She can be safe in Asgard, we just need to be careful of our protections.”
Thor lets out a sigh that turns growling, clenches a fist and closes eyes. “I didn’t tell you! I didn’t want to tell you,” he repeats. When he looks to Sifshe knows  it’s going to be rough. “That wasn’t the first plot against Torunn.”
“She’s a royal baby, first one in ages, there’s always going to be -” she tries to dismiss, to rationalize, anything to get her daughter back in her arms.
“Yes. She is. But she is also our daughter.” He takes her upper arms again, leans in close. “Ours in power, and strength, and brilliance.” Sif can see the tears shimmering at the edges of his eyes, and the sad smile and can hear the way he means the last word as if it’s all because of her influence. Foolish man.
He touches forehead to hers. “Torunn is destined to be great. She will do that wherever she is, and right now her best chance of growing up to be that woman is to be far away from us. I know you think we can protect her, but both of us are needed in these fights and that means leaving her behind in Asgard alone and Sif....I have reason to believe someone is betraying us. We need to root them out. Until I know for certain it is safe it is too dangerous to even consider bringing her back.”
“But once it is safe we will consider it,” she pressed, ready to hold him to words and very sternly not pointing out that Asgard’s usual traitor was his own damned brother.
“Once the traitor is gone I will consider it, if the realms are calm enough. If things have not become worse.”
“For how long? What if it takes a year? More? Are we to simply live without our daughter?” she challenge, fearing the answers to these questions. She wants her baby back in her arms. Torunn should be fussing for a feeding soon, she should be here with her. “What happens when the next threat comes? Do we send her away each time?”
“When she's older it’ll be different.” Thor sits on the edge of their bed and sounds tired.
“Will it?” Sif crosses arms and watches him. Her brow furrows. “We were not of age the first time you died. I cried and you came back to life, and I have cried every time since.” She moves to sit down next to him, lays a hand on his shoulder. “Take me to her. Please take me to her.”
“No,” he says quietly.
“Why not!”
“It’s dangerous to go too many times. We need to keep our distance so no one catches on. It’s safest if you do not have the exact location anyway.”
She shoves him. Shoves him again, harder. One last time. “Are you really going to take her away from me like this?! Stealing her in the dead of night as if I get no say!” In that moment she breaks. The tears form in her eyes and her chest shakes because she knows the answer to this question.
It’s already done. He already has.
Her cheeks are wet. Thor tries to pull her into an embrace and she pounds against his chest even as a part of her leans into the touch.
“You didn’t let me say goodbye.”

In Search of Strength Chapter 27
Fukuyunso: Where are you off too? ( Still walking ahead of Matt )
Matt: Home. ( Turning the other way )
Fukuyunso: Ah ah ah, you promised. ( Sing songy )
Matt: Yeah, and you know what? The heck with whatever I said, the heck with your training, and most importantly, the heck with you! ( Turning back ) I went through hell and high water to get home, and I finally get there, but Oooohh Noooo! You're toady little face comes around and turns everything on its head!
Fukuyunso: What will you do again if the enemy creates another EMP device?
Matt: Upgrade.
Fukuyunso: And how long will that take?
Matt: Get away from me...and out of my life. Go back to whatever moss covered rock you came out of, before I do something reprehensible.
Fukuyunso: ( Turning around, grinning and chuckling ) Heheheheheh, oh dear boy, are you suuuuure? ( Acting like he was in the mood to play ) Do you know for sure if your powers will be effective against my years upon years of training? If you put all your eggs in one basket and that basket tumbles over from something you cannot control, will it be worth it?
Matt: I never asked you for your dang blammed opinion now go away!
Fukuyunso: Will you be able to protect them when your powers are gone? As they were when you first set foot on the island? I saw. You couldn't move. If that time comes when you need your powers the most and they are taken from you, will you be able to defend them?
Matt: This is stupid, you're stupid! You're just some weirdo that escaped the local crazy farm! Leave me alone!
Fukuyunso: ( His usual silly tone changing ) Young man, listen to me...No doubt you've yet to fully understand the powers you now possess, but you must understand that if it is that easily brought down , and after being carried around like a sack of potatoes before you revived, do you not think that another means of defense should be learned? ( Stern, but sounding gentle ) I am well aware you miss your friends and family. I can see that. Yet, you must learn a new skill or you will lose this island to either the red eyes or the bugs or perhaps something far worse. You, must, prepare.
Matt: ( Silent for a few moments ) I don't want too much of my time wasted over this. We're going to get this over with and none of your stupid jokes. ( Goes back to walking with him ) How long will this take?
Fukuyunso: Two years.
Matt: Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!! ( Raising his hands to throttle him )
Fukuyunso: Oi oi! ( Pointing his finger at him, back to being stern ) You clearly have lost your sense of humor while you were away. Do not strike me unless you mean to challenge me, and yes, I can get by your mental powers. ( Sighs ) You must learn...and I feel this is a growing time for you. The training will last two months if you diligently keep to it every day.
Matt: ( Stopping himself, arms falling to his side, silent for a few moments ) Lets get this over with....
Fukuyunso: Ah Ah Ah...( Waving his finger ) With a smile.~ ( Grinning )
Despite Matt's muttering and growling, he and Fukuyunso traveled at a calm pace into a wooded area, north east of the island. The ground below them started to rise as they ventured into a large hill area within the forest. There was no path except for what Fukuyunso knew from memory. He lead Matt along as if he had known the trees and rocks all of his life. Yet there was no knowledge of a monastery in any of the forests mapped on the island. But from Matt's view the silly little man casually walked on as if these woods were his back yard.
They hiked for five miles until they reached the foot of the hill. The only marking Matt noticed was a small oriental lantern hung high on a tree branch and dangling a few feet over their heads and away from its surrounding tree neighbors. Fukuyunso stopped and turned to address Matt.
Fukuyunso: Where we stand cannot be revealed to those not chosen. You have been selected for very specific reasons. In time you will find out why. Now that you have come this far you are officially committed to your training. That lantern above us....( Pointing with his walking stick ) Is the boundary between the outside, and your temporary new home. ( Grinning comically on the last few words )
Matt: I'm not going to make any assumptions. ( Looking from the lantern to Fukuyunso ) But I have every intention of making every day count and I will endure any silly games you might have in mind.
Fukuyunso: Aaaah, and that will be one of your many many lessons we will cram into two months.~ ( Grinning wider )
Matt: I'm learning a new method of combat, not to take a trip to the center of the universe...( Not sounding too willing to mess around ) You convinced me to leave my loved ones again, you dang well better stick to the meat of the training.  Ggaammmfff!!
Something coated in whipped cream with a banana filling slammed full force onto Matt's face and cutting off whatever he was going to say next. Then more voices were heard. The pie filling slid off Matt's face just enough for him to notice more monks that were dressed the same as Fukuyunso and they were all chuckling proudly over their successful prank.
Matt: ( Whipping his face off with his hands ) I take it these are your fellow instructors?
Fukuyunso: Welcome to the family! ( Grinning proudly ) At least for the time being.
Matt: Thrilled....just stark raving thrilMMmff!! ( Gets hit with another pie ) Stop That!!
Monk: Oh you found a good one, Fuku-sama. But he seems to be much too serious.
Fukuyunso: He has endured much and his patients is thin, but we will deal that “properly”.
Monks: ( All of the chuckling ) Oh “Properly” he says!
Matt: ( Throwing off the remains of the last pie ) I am here....for training....not Man-child pranks!
Fukuyunso: Ah, but you don't understand. Not yet. You will in time, and the more you cooperate the sooner you will graduate. Keep your mind open.
Matt: Since when did training involve immature pranks? I did NOT come here for Clown College ran by middle aged and elderly men with too much time on their hands! I left my loved ones, friends and allies for THIS? ( Stops himself ) Anyone hits me with one more pie I will burst every internal organ in your body. That Is a Promise!
Monk: …..( Turns to Fukuyunso ) This will not take two months. He has poison and hate deep within him.
Fukuyunso: The outside land is suffering from an invasion and he cannot fight without the power his mind possesses. He needs a new set of skills. It will take two months, but we will need to train this one differently. Learn what makes him tick. ( Grinning )
Monk: Aaahh, very well.~ ( Bowing and grinning )
Fukuyunso: Also no more pies, that was probably a bad idea.
The training had not yet begun and Matt was already out of patients. Yet he allowed the silly monks to lead him inside. Not one was anything else but human, and no females were seen. The place was riddled with even more monks as Matt walked further in. All the while he wondered how Mayreen and the others were doing. Wishing he had ditched Fukuyunso sooner, but here he was. About to begin who knows what, pining for Mayreen, who was also pining for him. As afternoon turned to evening, and evening turned to night, Mayreen crawled onto a mattress. Beds were unsafe. They stood just high enough for sniper fire to break through the wall and reach its mark. Despite that, this was another day for who knows how long she was separated from her lover and sleeping alone. She glanced at the window, seeing a clear sky with the stars shining. Her ears lowered as she laid herself down. A small tear rolling down her face.
Mayreen: Matty....come back....please.~ ( Ears perk up. Hearing someone enter the room )
Regina: ( Shyly hopping in ) U-um....do you want any c-company?
Mayreen: ( Smiling a little ) I'd love some.
Regina: ( Bounces over, laying down next her ) I miss him a lot too.~
Mayreen: How did you meet Matt? He said it was by accident.
Regina: That wolf lady that came in with the others. Brook. S-she was...well...hunting me.~ While I was running from her, Matty got involved. ( Laughing a little ) And we all wound up at this bar, then a fight broke out....something about him makes me feel safe.~
Mayreen: You're not afraid of him and what he can do?
Regina: At first...mostly because I didn't know him. But later on he struck me as a gentle person.~
Mayreen: He is.~ He's a perfect gentleman.~ It might be a while before we see him again....( Staring into the ceiling ) I almost lost him once because some wicked old man was bent on obtaining his power. I won't lose him again.
Regina: I think the funny monk guy is going to bring him back better than ever.~ He seems 'off' but I think we can trust him. ( Giving Mayreen a reassuring  smile )
Mayreen: ( Smiling back ) You know that for sure?
Regina: I guess its animal instinct.~
Mayreen: We should sleep. My own instincts tell me this quiet time isn't going to last.
They bid each other good night and slept a dreamless sleep. Mayreen was right. There was creeping electricity in the air that the double war would begin anew. No one in the boarding house needed to be a mind reader to know something was on the move. At first light artillery fire from both the Helghast and Chimera rocked the city. An increase in ground troops and war vehicles rolled through the streets as the fighting picked up with an even greater fervor. The island's strongest stayed to their sides. The Officials to the west, the New Genesis Brothers to the east. Each side with their share of troops and those inside the large boarding house taking position to provide cover. Mayreen herself was fired up and ready to make every single bug and red eye creep pay for driving away her lover. Although it was for training. She noticed once again why Matt needed Fukuyunso's help as the power went out again. Messages of another EMP device, though not as large, was activated on both the west and eastern front. Talk of annihilating at least one side was finally brought up after the Officials fell back into the boarding house to be given a rest from the fighting.
Integra: This is going to sound stupid, but hindsight is better than foresight. We need to pick an enemy and blow them away.
Smoker: In our defense, we had our backs against a wall and didn't have the time for a proper offensive. Now that we have had time to think, yes, we need to end at least one enemy. My vote is the Chimera.
Death: My vote is the Helghast. My concern is the brainwashing that they're inducing upon the captive citizens.
Tsunade: My vote is the Chimera. Brainwashing can be fixed once the city Boy-Genius returns. The metamorphosis that's changing our people into bugs seems less than reversible.
Death: You have a good point there. Its a shame we would be destroying our former citizens....
Smoker: That's what makes me hate those freaks even more than the Red Eyes. They take innocent people and turn them into monsters. I can only imagine the change is painful and inhumane.
Integra: Very well then. Its unanimous. We know they operate underground, but where and how far? Also who is their leader?
Tsunade: They are insects. No one has ever heard them utter single normal word aside from chittering, squawking, and some roaring. My guess is they are not led by a leader but perhaps a queen.
Death: A Hive Mind. Destroy the queen, the rest die along with her. So now our next issue is where is that nest?
Smoker: I think we should catch one. One of the Pokegirls is a psychic type. She could help us.
Tsunade: What's to say the hive mind won't overpower Ivory?
Smoker: She's strong. I have a hunch this will turn the fight in our favor.
Integra: We have to assume the hive is heavily guarded.
Death: Along with the Helghast HQ. So...does anyone have any fly paper?
Integra, Smoker, Tsunade: ( All of them fall over comically ) Really??
Death: But first I suppose we should...( Gets cut off )
Napalm: ( Shouting ) Incoming!
Artillery fire struck the west side of the building, and giving the Chimera a good sized hole to crawl through. Hedgehog grenades were tossed through the newly made entrance to a vacant room. Thankfully it didn't belong to a tenant as the needles littered everything within. Ten Chimera crawled through with more behind them. Only to be met by two angry Uzis and a shower of bullets and Mayreen yelling with ferocity.
Mayreen: Get out of my home, and off my island!!
Napalm: Breach on the fifth floor, middle room to the west!
Rahbie: I just cleaned in there! ( Becoming furious and running into the room. Coming face to face with fifteen Chimera ) You do NOT make a mess in my home!! ( Eyes flashing with magic, clapping her hands )
Let it be said to never anger a Genie. Lest a heavy handed curse smite you. The very thing transpired as the fifteen Chimera were polymorphed into frogs. Icy took her turn and fired a steady line of Ice Beam. Freezing all of them except one that had scrambled under the bed. Rahbie's magic took hold of the changed Chimera and held it in mid air. Smacking it firmly with her hand.
Rahbie: That's for being bad and making a mess.
Napalm: Hey Rahbie can you bring him downstairs? The Officials have a plan.
Rahbie: Yes fried Frog's Legs do sound good. ( Grinning mischievously at the frog-Chimera )
Myffle: Yuck, no. ( Shaking her head in disgust ) We're gonna go info digging, nyan.
Rahbie: We can't do that with this current wave of enemies. ( Magically repairing the hole in the room )
Napalm: Correct. Time for a better show of force. ( Makes a loud whistle )
Duece: ( Coming out of another room with the rest of the New Genesis Brothers from a quick break ) We're on! ( Beaming happily )
Tony: Good! I've been wanting some exercise!
Alucard: ( To Tony ) Care for one more? ( Grinning, loading his guns )
Tony: I don't see why not. ( Grinning )
Joe: ( Wielding a large ice sword ) Pushing back in three...two...one!
The front door flew open as the two heads of the boarding house, The Brothers, and a giggling, true blooded vampire rolled out and dove into both armies. Tony, Joe, Shift and Myffle, and Alucard pushed toward the east. Cydrone and his fellow Gemstone Warriors pushed toward the west. The sound of battle grew even louder as the home team attacked with everything they had. Tony's large beast tiger form drove the Helghast farther and farther with every swipe of his massive paws. Joe, Shift, and Alucard picked off any stragglers. The Brothers formed a side by side line. Skyla sent line after line of chain lightning to force the Chimera lines back. Her large wings created powerful gust, putting the bugs against walls of the buildings behind them or forcing them into cover. Blain had vanished. Then quickly popping up from bellow and ripping the Chimera to shreds. Cydrone and Zeb rushed forward to cut and chop any bug or artillery vehicle they saw. Magnum provided their own means of long ranged bombing, while Deuce levitated the enemy's cover away and threw them around for Skyla to zap with another round of lightning.
The chatter and radio noises from the enemy armies were obvious enough to tell the Island had retaliated and were being called back. This failed as the attack was so fierce nothing was left to retreat to anywhere. Every Chimera and Helghast had been destroyed. Those inside the boarding house were hooting and cheering for the home team, and in the midst of the fighting the new EMP devices were scrapped. They had been transported to close range due to their smaller size and hasty construction.
With another victory behind them and a Chimera in their hands. The island Officials moved to begin their interrogation.

Staci’s dog has been dognapped! (No, not really.)
Team NF Member Staci’s dog Madi has been dognapped!
(Okay not really. Don’t worry, Madi is okay!)
But in the alternate reality world of Rising Heroes, poor Madi has been kidnapped by a nefarious shadow organization in retaliation for over 2,500 rebels working together last month to track down and capture a hacker operative with ties to the organization.
Alternate reality world? Rising Heroes? Hackers? Madi?
Steve, WTF are you babbling about? I’m lost.
Okay sorry, let me start back at the beginning.
Last month, as I’m sure you heard, Nerd Fitness launched a completely new platform called Rising Heroes, which is our attempt to make ongoing habit-building and self-improvement into a fun, captivating adventure.
Thousands of people joined Rising Heroes in early January. They were onboarded and recruited by one of four factions and immediately began working together to track down and capture a hacker by completing real world daily and weekly missions around a variety of self-improvement topics and categories.
They solved puzzles, found their wingman for accountability, and decoded intercepted, encrypted messages in their hunt to capture the hacker. They walked over a half million miles combined, while also working on better morning routines, healthy cooking alternatives, social missions and personal development throughout the month.
As a member of the broader Nerd Fitness Rebellion, I wanted to give you an update on how this first month went, what we have in store for Month 2, and whether or not Rising Heroes is something that interests you. And I want to leave you with some of the core reasons why it’s working for over 2,500 Rebels and how you can build those benefits into your own system.
To start, let me share an image with from the “Michigan Rebel Squad” a self-formed accountability group of a few guys inside of Rising Heroes. I literally burst out laughing when I read it.
“Lynn… we’re grown as men tracking a fiction hacker by walking in the snow. No need to explain your use of imagination to us.”
HAHA, well said Kenny. Well said.
I realize that for many people, the concept of walking every day trying to hunt down an imaginary hacker is silly. “Why in the world would I do that. It’s freakin’ cold outside. I’m not going to do these small daily and weekly missions just because you make up some story and give me points, Steve?”
That’s fine! If you have a system that’s working for you. Do that! Keep up the progress!
But here’s the thing: This is so much freakin’ fun if you let it be!
What we’ve seen over the last month is the far majority of 2,500+ Rebels really get into and embrace the adventure, the story, and the daily and weekly missions designed to slowly build better habits and level up their lives.
They nerded out, they formed accountability groups, and they used the point system and the deadlines as EXTRA motivation even when they didn’t want to do it… they did it anyway!
Stefanie’s comment reminded me of a survey we had sent out late last year where we got over 10,000 responses from nerds around the globe.
We asked people whether or not they HAD found sustainable change in the last few years. If they hadn’t yet found the habit-changes they wanted, we asked why. And if they HAD had lasting changes and success we asked them HOW.
Most people who have failed to change their lives had cited a lack of motivation, a lack of support, and a lack of time to get things done.
Those who succeeded, however, despite have the same struggles and baggage and busy schedules as those who failed, did things differently:
URGENCY: We all say we’re going to do something, and then we don’t do it unless we absolutely HAVE to. It’s why we always waited til the last minute to write term papers in high school, why we pay our taxes at 11:59pm on April 15th.
When you say you’re going to do something, without a deadline it makes it easy to justify why you can skip it. With a real deadline associated with a goal you’re trying to accomplish, you’re infinitely more likely to do… if there’s accountability associated with the results.
ACCOUNTABILITY: What happens when you skip a workout, don’t work on your book, or miss your training run for your 5k? If it’s left up to you, probably nothing! It’s too easy to skip the things you want to do that require a little willpower. This is why the people who succeed have built accountability into their lives. They know that if they skip their workout they’ll miss out on something, or if they don’t take a certain action it would have consequences. At the same time, completing goals was a positive outcome and thus resulted in a ‘reward’ of sorts for them. This moved the accountability outside of just themselves
SUPPORT: The journey to a healthier life can be a long and lonely one. We often find readers of Nerd Fitness (and members of the team) hide their nerdy pursuits from the world… and once they start the journey to live a healthier life, end up hiding their fitness pursuits from their nerdy friends. We are going to have good days and bad. We are going to have moments when we want to give up. We have things we use to rationalize inaction. Those who succeed have a good group people around them to keep them on target. Always ready to respawn.
Knowing how important those three things were to long-term, sustainable success and an upgraded life, we created Rising Heroes.
And I’m really proud of what we created.
I’m proud because the URGENCY, ACCOUNTABILITY, and SUPPORT are really working for people. Slowly, but surely people are seeing real results – while having a lot of fun.
Here’s a few of the people crushing the habit change aspects:
We’ve also seen some very measurable results in weight loss and overall health activity:
Note: Rising Heroes cannot guarantee that you will get ENGAGED during an actual real world mission during the adventure. Despite that, we are so excited for Cal and her new fiancee! 🙂
With Rising Heroes, fitness and health plays a large role, but is only part of leveling up your life:
“Personal victories aren’t always measured in inches or pounds.”
Again, well said, Nicole.
In Rising Heroes, every recruit has to pick a non-fitness specialization that they will devote time and expertise to on an ongoing basis. We’ve had people dust of instruments for the first time in year, enroll in new classes, start back up childhood passions, and picking up new languages and skills.
With our new missions setting up Month 2, many Rebels are turning a spotlight on their finances, their mobility, their morning routines, and their daily physical activity.
And all this is literally just getting started.
Rising Heroes has turned out to be even more than we could’ve imagined. Thanks completely to thousands of Rebels deciding to buy into the process, tracking their success, and truly joining together to take back control of their lives in every sense of the word.
As Abraham Lincoln once said, “Holy shit! That sounds fun!”
Okay, I don’t know if he actual said that, but he might have!
Anyways, this has been a truly game changing experience for both the Nerd Fitness team and our core group of early adopters that are sticking with it and starting Month Two right now.
As with the first month, we have a small enrollment period where new Rebels can join up and try out Rising Heroes. We shut this off on Thursday of the first week of the new campaigns, so that everyone can move through the rest of the adventure and work together to solve mysteries together at the same time.
Rising Heroes is accepting a few new heroes this week until Thursday at midnight EST.
As with the launch last month, we offering a full 60 day try-it-out guarantee. Come see if this fun structure and style helps you see real changes like others have. If not, email us – no questions asked – we’ll get you completely refunded.
We need help taking on (fictional banking institution) Amego Financial in month two. We aren’t exactly sure how deep this rabbit hole goes, but we are starting RIGHT NOW on the inside with missions to #savemadi and research the reach and influence of this new financial institution.
If you are interested in more information, I also recorded a full video walkthrough of inside Rising Heroes using real example from missions and community events from Month One activities.
To get a sneak peek inside the platform, click here and scroll down to the read banner “Steve walks you through the inside of Rising Heroes…”  Super creative naming, I know. It’s the second video on the page about halfway down.
We understand this is an investment and certainly not for everybody, so if this isn’t right for you right now, no worries! We’ll be back to regularly scheduled blog posts on Thursday.
In the meantime though, I have a challenge for YOU regardless:
I want you to take out a piece of paper and write out a plan for 2017.
I want to know three ways you can increase the following, ESPECIALLY if you’ve struggled to stick with your resolutions by now (end of January):
What are real ways you can add urgency and deadlines to your habit-based goals in 2017? Can you schedule calendar updates or reminders? Can you create your own missions for yourself? Can you manufacture urgency to help push you? How?
How can you add another layer of accountability to your current system? Urgency is a great start, but if you aren’t accountable, you’ll just skip the deadline without any consequence. What parts of your life can you tweak today to have slightly more accountability for the deadlines and urgency you’ve brainstormed above?
Lastly, where are you going to go for support? This can overlap with accountability sometimes, but needs to be more well rounded. What will you use to educate yourself? Who will you talk to in moments of weakness? Who will you celebrate with when you hit a streak? There are hundreds of free resources (including most of Nerd Fitness) for you to explore. And it is possible to find and set this up for yourself. How will you do it?
Whether or not you want to try Rising Heroes, I want you to be intentional TODAY about how you will build these three key factors into your own life in 2017.
February can be a tough month for our 2017 goals and ambitions. A lot of people fall off the wagon, but around here we #respawn quickly and get back into the fray.
Let’s keep up the early momentum of January in whatever way works best for you.
We’re here for you!
New YouTube video coming on Thursday around why motivation fails us (and what to use instead), stay tuned!
As you can tell, I’m really proud of this mysterious, goofy, action-oriented adventure we call Rising Heroes. And I appreciate you taking the time to read my giddy Rising Heroes update.
If you want to join us, 2,500+ Rebels and I are waiting for you on the inside. Once you get recruited into your faction, you can start marking off time-sensitive missions immediately. We need all the help we can get, Month Two is going to be crazy.
You have until Thursday at midnight EST to click here and join Rising Heroes for our new February campaign.
