|| Nines, who must swap with an android cat to escape shut down during a mission to save himself.
Witnessing how Gavin finds his body.
Witnessing how Gavin deals with finding his body.
He's trying to tell him he's right there, but, well. He's a cat. His systems are not so sophisticated. All he can do is meow and run after Gavin, who can't even notice him at first.
The human had no idea how attached he was to his android partner. Now, he knows. And he hates it. He hates it. He hates how Nines is not there - stoically commenting on everything that happens.
Stupid fucking android, he thinks, or screams at the top of his lungs? As CyberLife takes the remains away.
Though, Nines is just standing behind him in the rain, all wet, his LED yellow as he processes Gavin's reactions with a tilted head. He's especially mesmerized when the Detective breaks down crying after he shut himself in his car.
How quaint.
Of course, Nines knows where he lives, and he goes there, hoping to find an open window or hoping he can meow loud enough for the man to hear him. No open windows.
So meowing it is.
When the door opens and he's picked up by Gavin's hands, he forgets to hiss in complain. He's wrapped in a fluffy, warm towel, placed in the man's lap and rubbed dry gently. Oh? That actually felt nice. Was he... purring? He'd never live that down at this point, if he had to tell Gavin what happened exactly...
Although... judging by how Gavin seemed to wet the fur on the top of his head with his tears again... perhaps he should find a way to get his usual form back... somehow...

The Benefits of Online Photo Albums: Preserving Memories in the Digital Age
Tumblr media
In the digital age, where smartphones have become ubiquitous and social media platforms dominate our daily lives, online photo albums have emerged as a popular and convenient way to preserve and share precious memories. Gone are the days of traditional photo albums and physical prints. Online photo albums offer a plethora of benefits that make them an attractive choice for individuals and families alike. In this article, we will explore the numerous advantages of online photo albums and why they have become an essential part of our digital lifestyles.
Accessibility and Convenience:
One of the primary benefits of online photo albums is their accessibility and convenience. With a few clicks, you can access your entire collection of photos from anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection. Whether you're at home, traveling, or visiting friends, you can easily retrieve and share your memories without the need for carrying physical photo albums. This accessibility allows you to relive cherished moments whenever you desire.
Storage and Preservation:
Online photo albums eliminate the need for physical storage space, freeing you from the worry of losing or damaging your precious photographs. By uploading your photos to a secure online platform or cloud storage, you ensure their preservation for years to come. Unlike physical prints that can fade or deteriorate over time, digital images remain intact and can be easily backed up to prevent any loss due to hardware failure or accidents.
Organization and Searchability:
Sorting through physical photo albums can be a time-consuming task. Online photo albums offer powerful organizational features that make managing and searching for specific photos effortless. You can create albums, tag people or locations, and add descriptions or keywords to help categorize your collection. This enables you to quickly find a specific photo or browse through memories based on various criteria, saving you valuable time and effort.
Sharing and Collaboration:
Sharing memories with loved ones becomes a breeze with online photo albums. You can selectively share albums or individual photos with family and friends, allowing them to view and comment on your precious moments. Collaborative albums enable multiple contributors to add their own photos, creating a collective memory bank for special occasions, vacations, or family events. Social media integration also enables seamless sharing on platforms like Facebook or Instagram.
Customization and Creativity:
Online photo albums often provide a range of creative tools and options to enhance your photos. You can apply filters, crop or resize images, adjust colors, or add captions and text. Some platforms even offer templates and designs to create stunning digital photo books or slideshows. This customization allows you to showcase your artistic flair and transform your photos into personalized masterpieces.
Privacy and Security:
Concerns about privacy and security are valid in the digital age. Reputable online photo album platforms prioritize data protection and offer robust security measures to safeguard your personal images. You can control the privacy settings, choose who can view and access your albums, and ensure your memories remain private or are only shared with trusted individuals.
Conclusion:
Online photo albums have revolutionized the way we preserve and share our memories. With their accessibility, convenience, and range of features, they offer numerous advantages over traditional physical albums. By embracing digital photo albums, we can ensure the long-term preservation of our cherished moments, enhance our ability to organize and search through our collections, and easily share our memories with loved ones around the world. As technology continues to advance, online photo albums will undoubtedly play an increasingly important role in our digital lives.

Tumblr media
It all began with a tube of lipstick.
Jungwoo watched the thin capsule fall from your bag while you rushed past him, stopping only once it hit his shoes. He didn’t know it at the time, he didn’t know that such an insignificant piece of whatever would hold such a powerful curse on it. And he didn’t know then just what kind of person he’d become when it came to you, the same you that he didn’t quite know yet, at the time.
He picked it up in an instant and followed after you, but by the time he had walked out of the lobby, you were already on the bus. He looked at the black cylinder in his hands and he looked back at the now departing bus and sighed. Hopefully, he’d run into you again eventually and he could return it to you, whenever that would be. For now, he’d have to settle his deposit with the landlord, and so he re-entered the lobby and walked into the office.
“Sorry about that, someone dropped their lipstick so I ran after them, but they’re long gone already,” Jungwoo chuckles while he holds up the lipstick. “About that deposit, here’s the check,” Jungwoo dug the piece of paper out of his pocket and placed it on the desk.
“That was fast,” the landlord blinks. “Need a place to stay that quickly?”
“Yeah, the term’s starting and my parents kicked me out,” he admits. “Luckily I had enough saved up for the deposit and a few months,” he says.
“I see, I see,” the landlord nods. “I might be able to help with that lost item of yours, what did the person look like?”
“Oh? They looked like a student, maybe about this tall,” Jungwoo held his hand up to what he assumed your height was. “Oh, and they also had a navy blue backpack, if that helps.”
“Mm, it was probably (Y/N) then,” the landlord hums. “She’s always leaving in such a hurry.” He says with a slightly worried tone.
‘(Y/N), huh?’ Jungwoo would be sure to remember the name, he committed the little details he had on you to memory. “Must be late for work, or something.”
“That might be it,” the landlord stands up from his desk and grabbed a pair of keys behind him. “You’ll be staying in unit 318.” Jungwoo took the keys politely.
“Thank you, sir,” he says with a smile before leaving.
Had he known that that day would spark this strange game of cat and mouse, he would never have sought you out. Because the day he finally did was the day it all went down. It started out with him practicing how he was going to give it back to you, hours waiting in the lobby for you to come back, it was just these simple ideas. Somehow they evolved into something more, something like him returning the lipstick and taking you out to dinner, then maybe take you home, watch a movie, he had the whole thing planned out. He fantasized about it every night, keeping you in his thoughts 24/7. What would he say? What would he do? No, what would you do?
Jungwoo groaned while he rolled over in bed, his alarm going off much louder than he had ever thought it would be. He reached over and shut it off, relaxing into the pillow again, until his phone blared again and he quickly got up to turn it off. He walked across his room and got ready for the day. It was the same routine. Brush his hair, then his teeth, and breakfast, as always.
Ah, but how could he forget?
He walked over to the cubical shelves on his wall and removed the small house plant from one, exposing the small protrusion behind it.
“Ah, you weren’t working last night, you know,” he mumbled to himself. He opened the box and looked at the wiring in it, holding his flashlight to the device while he investigated what was wrong. He took the red wire and reattached it, the darn thing tended to pop out after many hours of usage. “Mm, there you go, let’s see if you’re working now,” he shut the small box and placed the plant back in front of it, taking a quick step over to his PC. He turned it on, put his password in, and waited for his desktop to load. He opened the application closest to the corner of the screen.
“Ah, I’ll have to update the coding on this too, argh, so much work,” Jungwoo sighs. He now pulls out his chair and sits down on it, opening the javascript and adding a few lines of code to compromise for the lost data last night. “Will you work now?” He asks in a singsong voice. Soon, a large screen popped up, depicting live footage of a bedroom.
“There you go,” he smiles. “Sleeping peacefully, my dear?” He folds his hand under his chin and leans towards the monitor. You were bundled in your covers, pillows surrounding you entirely, and you looked relatively peaceful. Then your phone went off.
“Hm, changed your alarm?” He chuckles. It was much later than when you usually woke up, he noticed, maybe your class got canceled? How nice, he wished that he could get off days but between his classes, badminton, and juggling STEM council it’s just not something he could do. You reached over and held the phone to your ear. “Oh?”
“Hello?” Your groggy voice was just barely heard through the small camera. “Yeah, no shit… Oh my god! Oh my god.” You rushed out of bed, tripping over various things on your floor while you got ready. You placed your phone on the nightstand.
“So this is what I missed last night?” Jungwoo hums, watching you pull on a pair of pants while scrambling to look for your shirt. “Be careful, my dear, you’re a clumsy one, aren’t you?” Jungwoo coos.
“Usually you don’t sleep through your 8ams, but here I am, corrected,” Renjun’s voice emitted from the phone and Jungwoo leaned back, rolling his eyes in the process.
“This boy again,” Jungwoo grimaced. “Always puts me in a foul mood,” Jungwoo stands up and packs his things in his bag.
“Renjun!”
“The audio’s a bit garbled,” Jungwoo takes his phone out, making a note as to what equipment to buy later.
“Want me or Somi to come over? Or I can call my brother?” Renjun asks.
Jungwoo stopped in his tracks, looking through his blinds briefly before finishing his packing. He almost forgot that Hendery lived in this complex too, truthfully he had nothing against the older Huang, and if anything he was quite fond of him, but him working in the force could complicate things later if he wasn’t careful. He grabs the glass of water by his bed and starts chugging it down while he listened to your conversation.
“Huh? No, it’s fine.”
“But you said that you’ve felt like someone’s following you, right?” Cue Jungwoo choking now. Did you finally catch on to him? Then again there was that other boy who seemed to always be nearby you at school, Jaemin was his name? Jungwoo never spent too much time on him until he realized that you were a constant thought in his head too, now that can’t be allowed, can it? Unless there were others, that would certainly complicate a lot of things. And make his job so much harder. He was already dealing with the persistent fraternity nut, he would prefer to keep it at that.
“Well… yeah, but I’m sure that I’m just being paranoid, you know?”
“Are you sure? I want you to be safe, you know.”
“I’m sure, thank you, Jun!”
That’s his cue. Jungwoo shut down the laptop and grabbed his keys, walking out of his apartment a bit earlier than you, he walked to the stairs, waiting for just a moment before retracing his steps, colliding right into you.
“Ah, sorry! I’m sorry!”
“Don’t—” but you were already long gone. Well, that didn’t go as planned. Jungwoo shrugged and turned to follow you down the stairs, then he noticed something on the ground. “Dropping more things for me, are you?” He leaned down and picked it up, cradling the small bracelet in his hands before finally putting it in his pocket. He just chuckled quietly and walked down the stairs, slipping his headphones on and shuffling his playlist, then just barely getting into the bus on time. As soon as he spotted you, he thanked whatever higher force was at play that the only open seat was behind you. He slipped in quickly, feigning ignorance, but really watching you the entire time.
He was enraptured with yet another fantasy, how would he give back this small keepsake of yours? He would tap your shoulder, perhaps? Ask if you dropped something and produce the bracelet and in your gratitude maybe he could even ask you out to coffee? From there it would all fall to place. Look at you, you were just rushing about in your bedroom a few minutes earlier, he would’ve been able to tell that even without the cameras he installed in your room that chance he got when he saw your lost keys on the landlord’s desk. It had to have been Fate, it was leading him to you and you to him, clearly. Why else would he have been able to do all that he had? This clumsiness of yours, it could be your undoing if you weren’t careful. Although Jungwoo had to admit that he even surprised himself, he didn’t think he’d be able to hook your webcam up to his room, let alone install other cameras in your house, goodness, he did all of that in one night.
What would you do without him? He’s keeping you safe this way while also entertaining himself. Remarkable, isn’t it?
You just mesmerized him, that’s it. A simple infatuation, or so he had originally thought. He thought that seeing you in class with him that day was just the start of something that would be short-lived, a small crush like many others that he’d easily get over in no time. But no, and while you applied your lipgloss all he could think of was how it would taste on you. He caught you staring and you immediately shut the mirror.
‘Now, now, getting bashful on me?’ Jungwoo didn’t hide the ‘innocent’ smile on his face. But before he could take the opportunity for some banter, just as he had planned out to get to know you proper, the bus came to a stop and you ran out. ‘There she goes, in a rush as usual.’
Jungwoo sat back in his seat when the bus took off. He truly just couldn’t explain why it was you of all the people he had grown to have this strange love of. As he mentioned, he thought that you would be nothing more than a face crush, a passing fancy of his and goodness did he have many, but no, no that wasn’t the case, hell, he had a camera in your apartment for goodness’ sake, it had to have been preordained by an omnipotent being that you and he become linked.
That must be it. A fateful bond. Maybe if Jungwoo believed in it he’d see a red string connecting you and him, at this thought he chuckled. Soulmates, what an interesting concept. Now if only he actually went to talk to you, that might seal the deal.
“Jungwoo!” Someone slides into the seat next to him and Jungwoo moves his headphones to rest around his neck. “I’m so glad I found you right now, I’m going to fail bio,” Haechan cries.
“Now that can’t be true, what’s wrong?” Jungwoo asks.
“I completely forgot about the prelab assignment,” Haechan sobs and throws himself over the third year. Jungwoo just sighed and rubbed the first year’s back. “What are you doing?”
“There’s no hope for you.”
“I know!” Haechan cries. “Can I copy yours?”
“Copy?” Jungwoo gasps. “My goodness…"
“Please, I’ll do anything, I’ll owe you a favor, Jungwoo I can’t miss another prelab.”
“Ah, maybe you should’ve thought of that before taking an upper level course in your first year,” Jungwoo teases him. He had the full intention of letting Haechan use his work as a guide, he just couldn’t resist playing around with him first. Jungwoo reaches into his backpack and hands Haechan the stack of papers.
“I could kiss you right now.”
“No need to go that far, I don’t have bio for a while, so just text me to come pick it up, okay?”
“Thank you, I love you, I’d kill a person for you!” Jungwoo wondered if he was serious about that. Haechan takes out his things and starts working. “How are you such a good upperclassman?” Haechan sighs.
“I’m just doing my best to help everyone,” Jungwoo smiles. “One less thing to worry about, you know? Plus, I have the time.”
“I’m surprised no one has caught you, this is technically a violation of student conduct,” Haechan turns his paper over.
“That’s probably because my professors love me, so if they did know, they probably looked the other way,” Jungwoo takes out his phone and adds a few things to his schedule. “Are you coming to the club meeting after school?”
“Nah, can’t.”
“Why?”
“I promised a few friends of mine that I’d help them study for comp sci,” Haechan sighs. The bus stops in front of the university and the two students amongst others filtered out, making their way to the lab building with Haechan still furiously scribbling answers onto his paper with the aid of his laptop. “I hope you know that I can usually handle these, I just don’t have the time to think right now.”
“No worries, I know you’re a smart kid,” Jungwoo nods and opens the door for Haechan and they enter the lab building.
“Thanks, I owe you one,” Haechan hands the prelab back to Jungwoo.
“Any time, Hyuck, just don’t stress out too much, alright? It’s bad for you,” Jungwoo places the prelab back in his backpack while Hyuck leans against the wall leading into the classroom.
“Agreed, I’ll think about that next time,” Hyuck responds. “You’re kind of early, what are you going to do?”
“Probably the library, I’ll decide on the way out,” Jungwoo says. “I’ll see you later, Hyuck,” he waved his hand while walking away.
He stepped out into the morning air, it was cool but not chilling, not too warm either. It was a beautiful day. A beautiful day where he could practically smell the roses, sun shining, and people laughing, it was wonderful. Almost made Jungwoo want to spin and lie down in the courtyard like he had always dreamed of doing prior to joining university and has yet to do for obvious reasons.
So he did.
He fell onto the grass with a soft thump. Staring up at the blue morning skies with a few clouds in his vision. He could nearly make shapes out of them.
“Jungwoo?” A shadow came over his vision and he looked to his side, seeing a pair of converse next to his head. With this, he fought back a sigh and he put on the best smile he could. “What are you doing here?”
“Just relaxing before class. Can I help you, Sungchan?” He asks. It’s not that he disliked the younger student, if anything he had a bit of a soft spot for him. Sungchan reminded him of himself, really, maybe a little too much, but what could he do? He had approached him during the beginning of the year because he watched the poor kid try to swipe his ID card in the gym and then came the pang of nostalgia. Since then the younger boy had been attached to the hip of the upperclassman, much to the latter’s occasional dismay.
“Uh, no, I was just wondering what you’re doing here,” Sungchan says. “Can I sit with you?”
“Go ahead.”
“Okay, cool,” Sungchan plopped next to Jungwoo and took his notebook out.
“What are you working on?”
“Just an assignment for art,” Sungchan mutters. “It was nice running into you here,” Sungchan hums. Jungwoo scoots up and peers over at Sungchan’s notebook, feeling his heart stop at what was drawn all over it.
“Who’s that?” Jungwoo knew the answer already, but he didn’t say anything. Sungchan moved the sketchbook out of view of the older student.
“Just a girl who walks into the pet store every now and then,” Sungchan sketched the girl with a precise hand. Jungwoo remembered Sungchan mentioning a beautiful girl who’d walk near the shop every now and then, he remembered the way Sungchan described her in such detail that it made him shudder, but never did he think that it would be you. “Why? Do you know her?”
“We’re neighbors,” Jungwoo relaxed on the ground again. “Why’d you choose her as a subject?”
“She’s pretty…”
“That’s it?”
“Mmhmm,” Sungchan nods and looks away, continuing his sketch.
“Oh actually… there is another thing,” Sungchan turns his sketchbook over face down and hugs his legs to his chest. “I like her… a lot.”
“She has a boyfriend, you know,” Jungwoo blurted it out, not necessarily thinking of the consequences, he didn’t even have a backstory, but when Sungchan suddenly dropped his pencil, his sketchbook falling next to it, Jungwoo had a feeling that he had done something very wrong.
“Wh… Who?” Sungchan asks. His voice wavered and his brows were furrowed together, it was like he had learned the worst news of his life.
“Don’t know,” Jungwoo took a deep breath and looked back up to the sky. “I always hear someone with her in her apartment though, who else would it be?” Jungwoo shrugs.
“Oh, okay… if you find out, can you tell me who it is?” Sungchan grabs his things and gets back to work.
“Sure,” Jungwoo takes his phone out and sits up, using his backpack to lean against. “But I have to say, dude, it’s kind of weird that you’re drawing her without her permission.”
“How do you know that I didn’t get permission?”
“Did you?” Jungwoo shot him a narrow glance and Sungchan just pressed his lips together and shook his head. “I thought so. Tell you what, when I run into her, how about I tell you? You can go speak to her properly then.”
“Really? Do you mean that?” Sungchan’s eyes lit up.
“Of course I do, why wouldn’t I?”
“Thank you, it means a lot, I’m not good at, you know,” Sungchan trailed off. Before Jungwoo could answer a much higher pitched voice rang out.
“(Y/N)! Over here!” Somi’s voice caused both of the boys to turn over. They saw the girl sitting with Yangyang waving you over. Jungwoo followed Somi’s line of sight and saw you and Renjun walking up to the duo. “Yangyang’s in my multimedia class so he decided to tag along, how’ve you two been doing?” Sungchan clears his throat and turns to a new page on his sketchbook.
Jungwoo kept his eyes glued to his phone while he listened in on your conversation. Making mental notes and things to come back to later. He felt bad about the boy next to him, had he known that Sungchan had developed his own small liking for you Jungwoo would’ve been more careful, but nothing could be done now. Then something caught his attention. The topic of a certain person who had followed you and Yangyang home came up, and Jungwoo clenched his jaw, he thought he had been very careful that night, but it would seem that his slip-up is what made his job harder for himself. The only caveat is that now that you’re more careful the other two seemed to have laid off a little, but when he thought about Sungchan, he was shocked himself that he had been paying attention to you for so long, who knows what he’d do next?
“Sungchan, I’m going to head to bio now,” Jungwoo grabbed his things, pulling the hood of his hoodie over his backpack.
“Okay, I’ll see you later then,” Sungchan said something else, but it fell on deaf ears while Jungwoo sped to bio, more and more problems were coming up with him. First the faulty wiretap, then Hendery, then Yangyang, what was next? All of this was too stressful, he had other things to think about, you know. But no, instead he was steeping over you. What were you doing to him? He had tried everything to get you out of his head but he was obsessed with you.
And you always just happened to show up at the most coincidental of times.
That’s what he thought when he noticed you sit next to him. He felt his breath catch up in his throat, he didn’t know what to say, what to do. With all of those fantasies of you, he’d think that he’d know how to at least start a conversation with you, but no. Instead, he typed away on his laptop, getting the fundamental parts of his notes document down. Then, as if it was message from fate, a notification popped at the corner of his screen: Low battery. Bingo.
“Ah, excuse me?” He turned to you. You turned to him, your eyes slightly wider with surprise, and you pointed to your chest.
“Are you talking to me?” Jungwoo was nearly shocked. He had never seen you this close nor heard you this close. He was in heaven nearly, and although that may be an overstatement to many, and hard to read for others, there was no other way he could explain it. He had to stop himself from blurting out ‘I love you’ right there and then. Instead, he shook the nerves off.
“Yes, sorry for bothering you, but you were on the same bus as me this morning,” he says. He didn’t want to give up the little bracelet, but he figured that it’d be a good way to start a conversation by giving it back to you. “Manners, manners, sorry, I’m Kim Jungwoo,” he introduces himself.
“Oh! Hello, I’m (L/N) (Y/N), how can I help you?” He clenched his fist behind him, trying his best not to make an entire fool of himself. He just couldn’t believe that he got so lucky. He was convinced of it now, he was convinced of some kind of link between you and him, maybe it was a past relationship in a past life, maybe it was a destined love, he didn’t know, and he didn’t care, he just wanted to be with you.
“Nothing, nothing really, you just dropped this when we first bumped into each other,” he opened his backpack and handed you a bracelet. You looked down at your wrist immediately as soon as he held it up to you. He chuckled quietly at your reaction. ‘How adorable.’
“I didn’t even realize it was gone, thank you,” you took it and slipped it back on. It would seem that his assumptions were right, surely the conversation wouldn’t end here, but he could tell you had no intentions of speaking further, so he made the effort to continue it. He wanted this to go on as long as it could.
“I was going to give it back to you on the bus, but you rushed out before I could hand it to you,” he lies. With a comforting smile on his face, he had at least practiced that much, he could tell from your expression that you were surprised.
“Sorry about that, I was running late and I had to get some coffee in before class, you know?”
“Yeah, definitely. Coffee’s important to keep an attentive mind,” Jungwoo says. He briefly glances at the notification on his screen again, he had nearly forgotten about that, but it would be perfect to ask you now. “Ah, come to think of it, do you mind if I borrow your charger? I left mine at home and my laptop’s running on fumes,” he shakes his head. You dug into your bag and handed him the charger, your hands brushing briefly while he grabbed it and it was then where he was certain that he saw it, the red string of fate. “Thank you,” he sings. He plugs it in beneath his seat and attaches it to his computer.
“Jungwoo!” Jungwoo heard Mark’s voice and turned around to wave. “Hey, you coming to the meeting after school?”
“For STEM council? That isn’t until tomorrow, dude,” Jungwoo laughs.
“No, no, I’m talking about badminton!” He says. A quick shock came over Jungwoo’s head, he had completely forgotten about that.
“Is that tonight?!” Jungwoo gasps. “Aw man, I won’t be able to make it, tell the coach that I have a project. I’m working on the robotics team, remember?” Jungwoo says. It’s true, he had to have the combustion engine at least drafted by tomorrow night or else he’d get kicked off the team.
“Oh right,” Mark says, he shoots a text to the coach, presumably, and gets caught up in a conversation with Yuta next to him.
“Robotics? You’re on our school’s robotics team?” Your voice graced him again. He turned over to you.
“Yup! I’m their mechanical engineer,” Jungwoo was proud that you brought it up, robotics was a passion of his that not many people he was close with indulged in. To hear you bring it up was amazing to him. A thought suddenly struck him, a fantasy from a few nights before. “You should come to the fair! A bunch of other schools will be there, so it’ll be fun,” he offers. It’s true, upon hearing that he’d be participating he imagined what it would like to bring you along to it, should you be willing to. But now that you were showing some interest in it he was ecstatic. He could see it already, the way you’d both walk around the exhibits and how he’d show you the best and worst of the fair, it’s perfect, romantic, even fantastical.
“I might consider it,” you said while you relaxed back into your seat. That was perfect for him.
“Tell me ahead of time if you’re coming, I’ll get you tickets,” Jungwoo had to make sure that he wasn’t too excited, or at the very least that it wasn’t showing. Jungwoo could feel his heart racing, the butterflies in his stomach were a constant reminder of just how head over heels he was for you. Just then, the Professor turned on the projectors and began the lecture.
In this bliss he was hyper-aware of your movements, the way you’d tap your foot, or bounce your leg, the times you’d rest your pen against your lip, they were all charming in their own ways. Until he realized that maybe they were implying a whole other ordeal and, of course, how could he forget. You knew about your little fan club now, no doubt that would be on the forefront of your mind. He should say something, maybe offer you some ease despite the situation but, goodness, he almost forgot, he’s not supposed to know anything about that. Maybe, instead, he’ll just settle with a vague question.
“Are you alright?” Jungwoo asks, he genuinely was worried about you.
“Pardon?” You whispered.
“Sorry, you’ve been fidgeting around like crazy,” he says. Jungwoo reaches down to his backpack and pulls his water bottle out, whenever Mark or Hyuck had moments like these water always helped. “Here, drink some. You’ll feel better.”
“No, it’s fine,” you waved your hand and took a shaky breath. Jungwoo places the water bottle next to him, what to do with you? Jungwoo had to fight the urge to just hold you until you felt better. He had to keep reminding himself that at the moment you were just mere strangers.
“Then maybe get some fresh air, I can take notes for you, if you want,” he says. Now’s as best a chance as any, he realized. “I’m in unit 318, drop by whenever you can and I’ll hand you the notes. Finals are coming up so I get why you’re stressed,” he finishes.
“Thank you, I appreciate it,” you packed your things quickly and rushed out. Jungwoo nodded to himself and pulled his phone out, he felt rather bad for doing this, but what better way would get Sungchan to lay off of you? Well, probably. The boy tended to be very astute, if he picked up on your timidness maybe he’d stop. Without another thought, he sent Sungchan your location, and after a quick response of ‘Thank you!’ the conversation died there.
At the conclusion of the lecture, Jungwoo compiled his notes neatly, hoping that they were nice enough for you come the time you drop by his apartment. Only the best for you, that was his plan. A tap on his shoulder caught his attention.
“Yes, Mark?” Jungwoo knew that the younger boy was the only one who did that.
“I need to ask you a favor, dude,” Mark diverts his attention briefly, scratching the back of his neck in the process before garnering the courage to say something again. “Can you be my designated driver for the party this weekend?”
Oh, that, Jungwoo almost forgot about it entirely. Johnny had invited him to it but he originally said that he was too busy with the robotics project. But now that Mark was asking Jungwoo would have to reconsider. The younger student had been having a hard time, as revealed by his friend Hyuck a few days earlier, and he deserved as much a break as anyone.
“Johnny did invite you, right?” Mark looked like a deer caught in the headlights. He was aware that Jungwoo and Johnny hadn’t been seeing eye-to-eye, most people were.
“He did, no worries,” Jungwoo waved a hand in front of him while he shook his head.
“Ah, that party,” Yuta joins in on the conversation. “Honestly, you should just skip it, Woo,” Yuta shrugs.
“Why’s that?”
“I feel like you and Johnny might start something and I don’t want to be the one who has to clean it up,” Yuta raises his hands in front of him.
“You’re going? I thought you said you were going to skip too,” Mark says.
“I was going to skip but I let a girl borrow my jacket at the last party and she said she’d give it back to me at the next one, so I don’t really have much of a choice,” Yuta shook hid head. Jungwoo briefly thought back to the last party, trying to recall the events, but he was blacked out for the majority of the night. All he remembered was waking up half naked next to the swimming pool.
“Refresh my memory, who was it again?” Jungwoo’s curiosity got the better of him.
“Uh, do you know Jeon Somi? She’s in the year below you,” Yuta raises an eyebrow while he tried to recall the way she looked. Meanwhile, the gears in Jungwoo’s brain moved in a frenzy. If Somi was going to be present then you would likely be in tow, he remembered you being rather lightweight at the last party so no doubt you’d need a designated driver which would of course be Renjun, he seemed to be the more responsible one of the trio. But the important part was, you’d be at this party. Drunk out of your mind. And very easy to talk to.
“Sure, I’ll be your designated driver, Mark,” Jungwoo shoots him a thumbs up and Mark’s eyes lit up while he slumped his shoulders in relief.
“Thanks, man, I really needed it, you’re the best,” Mark grins.
Jungwoo was just on his way to the electrical store when he spotted a very familiar student making his way to the bus stop. It was curious, never had Jaemin been bold enough to follow you explicitly, even if you were already long gone. Jungwoo sat next to the student, and Jaemin seemed to already know exactly what he was thinking.
“Hello,” Jaemin broke the ice first.
“Hi there,” Jungwoo tapped his foot to a simple beat. “I should keep this quick, shouldn’t I?”
“I’d appreciate that.”
“Lay off of her,” a deeper tone overtook Jungwoo’s voice, one that he didn’t think he had. Jaemin only turned to him slightly.
“Nah,” was all he responded. “What can you do? It’s not like you’re any further than I am.”
“You are aware that I live right next to her, right?” Jungwoo stretches out his long legs. “I also happen to have this,” Jungwoo pulled his keyring out, there were three keys on it, one for his car, one for his apartment, and one for yours. He had made a copy when he found your key at the landlord’s office, he figured that he’d keep it for security. This caught Jaemin’s attention.
“Where did you…”
“Ah, no, you’re the last person I’d ever tell,” Jungwoo held a finger up, silencing the other student. “Don’t think I don’t know about your little partner switch ploy. It’s the oldest trick in the book, Jaemin, and I happen to be rather close with Seokjin so I know you asked him to do it. Look at you, using your exemplary student privilege to get what you want, you’re smart.”
“What are you implying?” Jaemin looked down at the key and then to Jungwoo.
“If you try anything,” Jungwoo held your key up observing it carefully and turning it around slowly, “then I will make sure that she never leaves that apartment again,” Jungwoo said this all with a smile on his face. That same one that many know him for. Jaemin’s expression moved from uninterested to mildly perturbed, he was trying to appear indifferent, that much was clear.
“You wouldn’t, I’ll call out your bluff.”
“Oh, but I would, I’ve already installed cameras all over the place you really don’t think I’d find a way to get in and—”
“Don’t finish that sentence,” Jaemin cut him off. “Fucking psychopath.”
“You act like you’re better.”
“I am.”
“Oh, whoa, no need to get pressed, Jaemin,” Jungwoo downplayed the situation. He was no stranger to the other student’s temper. Jaemin did well to hide it, but one should never play around with a man who happened to be head-over-heels. “I won’t do anything if you don’t.” Jaemin looked away, spotting the incoming bus. He stood up and left, not saying a single word to Jungwoo. Jungwoo hopped off the bench and pushed his hands into his pocket, spotting the way Jaemin pressed a hand to his head before shaking the other.
One down, two to go.
Jungwoo kept thinking about the exchange while he stood at the checkout counter, holding the wide array of wirings and tools to repair the wiretap. He’d have to come up with a better plan aside from wait for you to drink too much then take you home. He was lucky enough to have a few days to think it through. He blankly swiped his card through the reader while he went through the list on his phone. A notification popped at the top of his screen and he opened it in an instant.

‘Shit,’ the stress of Jungwoo’s life would always be Sungchan. He wanted nothing but the best for him but sometimes he could be exceptionally hard to work with or around. Jungwoo took the plastic bag from the counter and walked out the store, looking both ways before jogging across the street to the apartment building. He unlocked the gates and walked in, looking down at his phone all the while he read the texts incoming from Sungchan, then a devious idea came to mind. He could knock out two birds with one stone.

Jungwoo couldn’t deny the pang of guilt he received from using the poor kid. But if he played his cards right not only would he be out of the picture but so could Johnny, it was foolproof. That is, if Sungchan didn’t pull any unwise decisions.
Unwise decisions, a lot of them were made recently. Jungwoo shook the electric shock from his hand while he rewired the small black box. He winced quietly at the pinching feeling before he got back to work.
“Ah, wires, always wires,” he mutters. He was never the best at wiring, his electrical units were the ones he struggled the most with, but anything for you. Once he heard the sweet click of the wires falling into place, he sealed up the box and placed it back in its designated spot. He booted up his computer and, after opening the program, four screens popped up.
“Back online, as it should be,” Jungwoo took a sip of his coffee and kicked his legs up on the desk. “Now, let’s see what I missed,” he rewound the footage back a couple of hours, sad he couldn’t restore the lost footage from the other cameras due to their disconnection, it would require him to re-enter your apartment and such was risky at the time. Although you weren’t in your bedroom, your voice was more than audible from the main room.
“Renjun! Weren’t you just scolding Somi about this? Then you go around and tell your older brother and ugh, there are so many things going on right now, and now I feel bad because knowing Hendery he’s going to feel obligated to help and,” you stopped and took a deep breath. “I’m not mad. I appreciate it.”
“Great,” Jungwoo groaned. One obstacle left and another appeared. Hendery reminded him a lot of Somi, or perhaps he should say that the other way around. Both of them were too observant for their own good.
“Jun, thank you, but you don’t have to go that far. You don’t need to coddle me, you know… Promise, I’ll text you later.”
It was now that you walked into your room and laid on the bed. You dropped your phone onto your chest, and Jungwoo was certain you’d doze off, but instead a shutter resounded around the room and you jumped up and rushed out of the room. The sudden movement even scared him a little. But it was when you returned that sent his anxiety running, you started to tear your room apart, what were you looking for? There was no way you caught onto the cameras, he hid them well enough, he thinks. There were a few close calls where you hand ghosted over the lens, actually, but you never really got close to it.
“Oh my god…” Jungwoo felt horrible when he saw the droplets of water appear in your eyes. He could just feel how stressed out you were from looking at you alone. You collapsed on the ground, just staying there on your knees while you sobbed. “Oh, god, what did I do to deserve this? Who did I piss off?” You hit your head lightly against your desk leg and Jungwoo sighed. “I’m going to bed. I’m going to sleep. Maybe my sleep deprivation is what’s making me think this way.” You used the desk ledge to pull yourself up. Your back was turned to the camera while you tugged your shirt off, the bottom hem only briefly getting stuck to one of the clasps before you chucked it aside and grabbed a hoodie. Jungwoo looked away, maybe he should have some decency, but then again he couldn’t resist. He turned back to the screen just in time for you to kick your jeans off and Jungwoo had to turn away again, his face dusting with red. You had plopped onto your bed, already fast asleep from the eventful day, but Jungwoo just couldn’t get you out of his head. He closed the program and leaned back on his chair, one hand resting on his thigh and the other covering his eyes. There was no way you’d drive him to do this again, would you? Nearly four nights straight of this, he was surprised he wasn’t tired of this but god was red such a fantastic color on you he almost couldn’t resist.
No, you wouldn’t. Jungwoo had more self restraint than that, right? He shook his head and moved back to his bed, pulling the covers over himself. He shut his eyes and went to sleep.
But fantasies are a dangerous thing. When it’s this late at night, the mind tends to wander as much as one’s hands. Jungwoo clenched his jaw, he wanted nothing more than to wrap his hands around that pretty neck of yours while you donned nothing but red and fuck did he need it now. He wanted to grab that accursed tube of lipstick and drag it down your torso, writing obscene profanities across it while he devoured you. To think that sooner or later you’d be all his, he was on a high just thinking about it.
He thought he could just sleep off the thought, but no, the next morning it was only worse. His hips grinned against a pillow, fucking hell, he was desperate and it was ridiculous. But yes, fantasies are a dangerous thing, it’s easy to get lost in them, and when you’re too engrossed you miss important things. Things like alarm clocks.
Jungwoo rushed to get ready, having completely ignored the other alarms he set for himself, and by the time he was out of his apartment you were already turning the corner to walk down the stairs. But it was who was next to you that caught his attention more. Tall, top built, and subjectively handsome, he never thought that you’d actually go to the older Huang. But there he stood, corrected.
Jungwoo held back a harsh groan and instead clicked his tongue.
“Great,” he sighs. He should’ve done something about Huang #1 already before he got the chance. He just shook his head and walked down the stairs. He just barely caught you and Hendery turning into the parking lot before he walked into the lobby and out to the bus stop. He pulled his headphones on again while he held the bus card up to the scanner, then he took his usual spot.
What to do? What to do? Just countless questions going about in Jungwoo’s head, he didn’t know which ones were even worth answering. He wondered how much Hendery knew already, how much did Huang #2 tell him? Ah, there, more questions. It was nearly maddening to the point of exhaustion. Jungwoo took this time to write down all of the big questions in a simple notes document in some pitiful attempt to sort through the dark clouds in his mind. Ever since you’d become more aware of your predicament his life had gotten exponentially harder and he didn’t appreciate it at all.
But when he walked off the bus, he was convinced that he was still in the good side of luck when a certain person sent him a text. He made a beeline for Parking Lot D7, spotting the electrical engineer leaning against the car that had to have been twice his age.
“Hendery!” Jungwoo held his hand up for a quick greeting and Hendery put his phone away.
“You’re always here at the best times, Jungwoo,” Hendery kicks off of the side of his car and opens his trunk. “I can’t keep using the engine excuse, think you know what’s wrong with it?”
Jungwoo had worked in a few garages before, mostly for internships and some part time. He knew a thing or two about cars, at the very least. Hendery disappeared for a second and reemerged with a small tool box from the trunk of the car. Jungwoo rolled his arms up and looked around the hood.
“You know, couldn’t help but notice a girl walk out of your car,” Jungwoo decided to press Hendery a little to figure out how involved he was. “You rebounding again?”
“What? No way,” Hendery dismissed the notion. He had a tendency to pick up a girl or two whenever he got the urges to do something particularly stupid. “She’s just my younger brother’s friend. He’s been super uptight about her lately, literally won’t shut up about her. And, don’t get me wrong, it’s cute and all, but like damn.”
“Let me guess, someone’s been stalking her, or something?”
“Uh, yeah, actually, how did you know?” Hendery asks while he hands Jungwoo a pair of gloves. Jungwoo pulled them all while he rolled his sleeves up.
“Lucky guess, why else would someone bother their older brother enough to take their friend to school?” Jungwoo pulls out a wrench from the tool box and taps on the engine. “What’s going on with this one?”
“Oh, come on, you’ve known that it’s been fucked up,” Hendery laughs.
“You wouldn’t happen to have a monkey wrench in that box, would you? It’s just easier to use.”
“Might have one in the back, hold on,” Hendery disappears again. Jungwoo turns the wrench around in his hand and jams it under the engine, loosening it more than it already was, then he loosened the fuel pressure regulator.
“Sorry, Hendery,” Jungwoo mumbled and spun the wrench in his hand right as the other boy returned.
“Sorry, Woo, must’ve left it at home.”
“All good, should be fine now,” Jungwoo nods. He flips the wrench in his hand now and gives it back to Hendery. “See you in robotics?”
“Of course,” Hendery took the tool box and put it back. “Thanks, I owe you one.
“It’s no problem,” Jungwoo reassures him. “Drive safe.”
“Will do, I’m heading to the garage, I was going to have them look at my engine now but Renjun’s friend left her wallet,” Hendery held up the black wallet and Jungwoo bit the inside of his cheek. “But, little bro told me that she’d just come pick it up at my place later—”
“Maybe I know this friend of his, I could probably give it to her,” Jungwoo spoke a little too eagerly, something he mentally cursed himself over when he saw Hendery surprised face.
“Right, you do happen to know a lot of people, don’t you? With all of your orgs and stuff,” Hendery shrugs. “Her name’s (L/N) (Y/N), if that helps. I think she lives in the unit next to you.”
“Yeah, we have biology together, I can hand that to her for you.”
“Would you? Oh, that’s such a huge help, one last thing I have to worry about,” Hendery dropped the wallet in Jungwoo’s hand. “I think the guy’s at my place want to fuck her or something so I’d rather her not show up there again for Renjun’s well being,” Hendery adds with a joking tone.
“I get it, don’t worry, I’ll deliver this to her promptly,” Jungwoo nods and places the wallet in his backpack. “See you later, Hendery.”
“See you,” Hendery waved while Jungwoo left the parking lot. Did he feel bad? Of course he did, but he had to get rid of these variables before they screw up the equation later. Plus, he got a little gift out of it too, and maybe something to give back to you and start another conversation later. With that, he wasn’t surprised when he heard about the accident through the grapevine, at least it sounded like Hendery was somewhat still okay after it, but no doubt he’d be swimming in debt later, yet another problem that wasn’t under his jurisdiction what-so-ever.
Even with this leverage each time he’d spot you he’d just freeze, what was this? Guilt? Was he finally feeling bad that he had done so much just to make sure he’d have the perfect moment with you? Maybe.
But right now, on a Friday night and with a red cup filled with water, it was the least of his worries. He stood by the punch bowl, or “punch” he should rather say, he has no clue what the Nu Gamma Tau boys put in it and he wasn’t willing to find out either. He was only here for Mark, who was currently talking to someone on the couch across the way and, no doubt, probably making some mistakes. He usually stayed away from scenes like this, mostly because he detested the drunk shenanigans happening around him but also because the insufferable frat leader Johnny Suh tended to press his buttons in every way possible.
And it all started because of you.
Maybe if you didn’t come into either of their lives they’d still be rather close, but it’s interesting what a simple infatuation can do to a man wildly in love and with the resources.
“Jungwoo, I don’t really know what I’m doing here,” Sungchan takes the cup of water from Jungwoo. “I don’t usually get invited to things like these…”
‘Gee, I wonder why,’ Jungwoo pours himself another cup while he scans the area for the notorious student. “Alright, tall, top built, and kind of lanky. Do you see him?”
“The one by the DJ?”
“Yeah. Remember when I mentioned there was someone giving (Y/N) problems? That’s him. Why not keep him distracted for now? So he leaves (Y/N) alone,” Jungwoo spoke in a quiet voice, but loud enough for Sungchan to hear. The younger student was surprisingly easy to convince, or maybe it was only because Sungchan had this weird idolization of him that he would never fully understand. But either way, the taller boy was already making his way to the DJ. Jungwoo took some of the punch and decided to make a move, walking to the corner of the party that was relatively quieter and with a certain someone he wanted to see.
“(Y/N), funny running into you here!” Jungwoo put on the best smile he could for you and when you looked up at him he had to stop himself from going red entirely.
“Nice to see you,” you replied. He sat down on the seat across from you.
“Didn’t peg you as a party person,” Jungwoo stretched his legs under the coffee table. He was only half serious, you seemed to be more the studious type and, from what he’s seen, you tended to turn down offers like this. But seeing you like this worried him.
“I’m usually not,” you admitted. There you go. “Hey, you wouldn’t happen to have my charger with you, would you? Every time I knocked on your door you weren’t home.” Jungwoo froze up momentarily. It was true that whenever you’d knock on his door he’d hesitate on answering and just pretend that you weren’t there altogether, and he knew that was rude, but he couldn’t figure out what to say or what to do. He didn't want your interactions to end with him giving you a charger back, that’s ridiculous.
“Ah, not on me, but I’ll leave it in front of your door when I get back, sorry about that. I’ve had back to back council meetings and badminton practices,” Jungwoo lies, that would have to suffice for now. He drinks whatever was in his cup, the tangy and fruity flavors mixing unpleasantly in his mouth.
“What about you? I figured you were too busy for a party.”
“A friend of mine dragged me here, said he’s been feeling stressed out. So I told him I’d take him home once he passes out but,” Jungwoo looks across the way to Mark, who was still engrossed in conversation. “Looks like I’ll be here for a while.”
“Do I understand that,” you laughed. You drank more. “What is in this stuff? It’s pretty good.”
“No idea,” vodka, capri sun, wine coolers, grape juice, and a dash of whiskey, “but I think Jaehyun mentioned they put some capri sun in it,” Jungwoo’s laugh was still audible over the loud music. He wanted to make sure you felt comfortable with him, after all. “Then some other things, but it’s Jungle Juice, so what can I say? You probably shouldn’t drink too much of it.”
“Probably not but damn it’s good,” your words slurred together. You relaxed into the couch while he spoke. Jungwoo spun the strange drink in his hands and shrugged.
“Want mine?” He asks. “I’m not 100% a fan of it.”
“Sure, pass it over,” he wasn’t expecting you to accept so quickly, especially after your mini-freakout earlier this week. He placed it on the table in front of you and you took it.
“Want some more? I was going to get up and grab some water anyway,” he asks with an amused smile. You looked inside the cup.
“Sure, why not?” Then he was gone and back with two more drinks in his hands, he handed you one and you both clinked the two plastic cups together. “You have no idea how much I needed this,” you drink a large amount of it. Jungwoo watched you chug it down again, he was surprised you didn’t think he laced it with anything. Then again, he’d never be so low as to do that to you, he’s at least a little more classy than that.
“I think I can guess,” Jungwoo says. “It’s that time in the semester, honestly, if I wasn’t going to drive later I would be drinking as much as you are.” He says.
“That’s water?”
“Yup,” he says. You nodded and drank more.
“God, I’ve been so stressed out, how do you do it? You’re in student council, robotics, and sports, and you’re taking upper divs too, right?” “Yeah, I’m a third year. I’m really just used to all the work,” he says, which was somewhat true, after three years you kind of get a hang of everything. “After a while, it all becomes repetitive. Plus, it’s nice to have outlets,” he says.
“Oh yeah?” You finished your drink and placed the empty cup down. Jungwoo couldn’t deny that you looked stunning right now, you were dressed rather casually for the event but still you were the most eye catching person here, how could you do it? He wanted nothing more than to just take you home with him and, while you’re like this, maybe he could. Would make for an interesting story, that much was true. But to take advantage of you while you were like this? It felt wrong.
“You know, you seem like a genuinely good guy.”
“Do I? Thank you, then, I’m just trying to do my best,” Jungwoo admits, it’s true, he had no reason to be a horrid person anyway, so why not help people who need it? Jungwoo was more dependent on others than he allows himself to admit. He leans towards you, your toes were nearly touching at this point. “Can I ask you a quick question?” “Shoot.”
“How much did you drink before I found you?” He asks. You had thirteen drinks, he’s been counting. You blinked slowly.
“No clue,” you shook your head. “I stopped counting but shh,” you held a finger up to your lips. “Don’t tell Junnie, he’ll get mad.” Renjun, almost forgot about him again, he was just such an unremarkable person.
“Is that so?” Jungwoo asks. He looks over his shoulder and sees him pulling Somi off of Yuta. “He looks busy right now.”
“He does, he’s talking to someone,” you said. “Looks fun, but I don’t want to get up right now,” you shrugged.
“That’s fair,” Jungwoo nods.
“Hey there!” And now Johnny. Jungwoo looked around but couldn’t spot Sungchan anywhere.
“Fuck,” Jungwoo murmured it under his breath, being sure that no one heard.
“Couldn’t help but notice you two, everything alright?” Johnny asks, shooting a suspicious glare towards Jungwoo. Jungwoo scoffs but answers regardless.
“All good here, Johnny,” Jungwoo nods, he was always so insistent on knowing what his business was.
“Ooh, is that a refill? I’ll take some,” you held your empty cup towards Johnny and he shrugged while pouring the contents of the bottle in it. “Thank you,” you sang. Jungwoo watched the liquid pour in and he grimaced.
“Is she okay?” Johnny gestures towards you with the neck of the bottle.
“I’m sure she’s fine,” Jungwoo nods.
“I’ll check up on you guys later, if you need anything, let me know. Enjoy the party,” Johnny smiles and walks off, but to anyone sober enough they could hear the double-meaning embedded in it.
“Ugh, he’s so attractive,” you giggled. You really shouldn’t say that to him. “That’s why I like going to these parties, you know?”
“Oh really?” Jungwoo says. “I think we should get you home now.” Jungwoo had been debating it in his mind if he wanted to do this, part of it seemed wrong, but he didn’t think that he could ever get another opportunity like this.
“What? Now? I can’t,” you drank more. “Plus, I can’t leave Somi and Renjun.”
“They’ll be fine, you look like you’re about to pass out any time now. Come on,” Jungwoo urges you. You lifted your head, ready to nod. But a sudden thought struck you.
“You’re so stupid,” you laughed. “You stalker,” you grinned. Jungwoo’s eyes darkened, in a way, but he maintained the smile on his face. It was like all the noises muted around him while he thought about what he just said, how did you know? The only way for you to have pieced them together was with a certain push from someone. Could it have been Hendery? No, he’s still in the hospital and you wouldn’t be allowed to see him yet. Maybe he did slip-up? No, no way, he’s too careful around you. Renjun can’t know anything, he’s not that bright. No, it has to be him, Na Jaemin.
Jungwoo would have to deal with him later, though.
“You are way too drunk there, (Y/N),” he laughs it off. He could easily play it off as you being too drunk. “Let me get you some water.” He walked off to grab a cup of water, but when he returned you were missing from your spot on the couch. He spotted you being dragged out of the party by Renjun and he followed behind at a distance. By the time he pushed past the party goers you and Renjun were already long gone. Jungwoo jogged to his car and shot a quick text to Mark that something came up and he’d have to stay over at the house for now, then he was on his way back to the apartment.
He pulled into the parking structure with a screech, sprinting up the staircase to the third floor. He got into his apartment after fumbling the key a few times, and he ran to his desktop, tapping his fingers on the surface while he waited for the program to boot up. Soon, the camera feed loaded up, showing Renjun making rounds in your room and looking under and over things. His hand blocked the webcam on your computer a few times, disrupting the signal for a few seconds before it refocused again.
“I checked there already.”
“Yeah, but you’re not very good a checking things.”
“Why are you so pissed off right now, Jun?” You crossed your arms. “I feel like you’re overreacting about this. Look, I’m still in one piece and fine.”
“You don’t know why I’m pissed? (Y/N) someone is stalking you and not only are you not taking action to figure out who it is, but you also went to a party, got drunk out of your mind, talking to someone you, to my knowledge, met a week ago, (Y/N), you’re just asking to get into trouble! Of course I’m pissed. And look at you, you’re smiling like what I’m saying is going in through one ear and out the other.”
Jungwoo could hear his heartbeat in his ears while he watched the exchanged with an eagle’s eye, he couldn’t miss a single detail.
“You’re so cute when you’re mad, I almost want to squish your cute little cheeks,” you walked up to him and poked him. Jungwoo already knew where this was going. He had the worst thoughts running through his head while he stood in front of the monitor, his entire body tensed and waiting for the worst to happen.
“Don’t do that, please,” Renjun takes your hand.
“Don’t do it, don’t say it,” Jungwoo shook his head. He watched the rest of your conversation, taking mental notes while growing more and more concerned, would he be too late?
“Just stop nagging me already! I don’t get why you’re becoming so involved in this, it doesn’t even concern you! Why are you so insistent on getting fucking involved with this?!”
“Because I love you, okay?!” Jungwoo felt his world crash around him. He shut the monitor off and stood in complete darkness while his hands shook with some mix of frustration and misery. He could still faintly hear your voices next to him, but he chose not to pay attention. He didn’t want to hear the aftermath, and he didn’t want to know what you responded with, he won’t give himself the false hope. Because he knew, he knew you loved him too. He saw it every day when he’d turn his monitor on, he saw it in the way you spoke with him, it was obvious.
And he hated it.
Jungwoo sat in his room just thinking. What should he do? He went through so many scenarios in his head. There were so many things to think of now. Jaemin, Sungchan, Johnny, Renjun, Hendery, Somi, the other six in Hendery’s apartment, how many more things would Jungwoo have to think of? He rubbed the dark circles under his eyes and threw open the curtains, the bright sunlight causing his vision to spot for a moment before they fully adjusted. He walked turned a little too quickly and crashed into the side of his desk, the shock causing the pile of textbooks on it to topple over and push the stand the engine was sitting on. He stared at it for a moment, picking up the heavy object and turning it over in his hands.
“Oh my god… what have I done?” He speaks slowly, staring at his reflection in the metal of the engine. He just sent one of his friends to the hospital, he lost an entire night’s sleep over a girl who probably doesn’t even think of him twice, and he probably sent Sungchan to probably get his ass beaten by the Nu Gamma Tau frat. What the hell was he doing with his life? He even threatened Na Jaemin of all the people, the kid probably had enough money to make him disappear and no one would even bat an eye to it. Jungwoo slammed the engine on the ground, the delicate object bursting into pieces upon contact, and one of them lodging into his hand. He winced held onto the piece, debating if he should rip it out or keep it in place for now.
“Ah, I knew it wouldn’t hold anyway,” Jungwoo wiped the oil on his face. “The structure was too faulty,” Jungwoo kicked the pieces aside and scowled. Imperfect, just like every single thing he’s done so far. It was one of the only things he had to do and he still couldn’t do it correctly if it just fell apart like that, the only good the engine did for him was give him an idea as to send Hendery to the hospital, a horrific reminder already. “If this was meant to be, then give me a sign,” he sighs. Jungwoo was about to grab the bandages when there was a frantic knock at his door. Jungwoo ran over to it and threw it open, seeing your shocked face across from his.
“God, are you okay?” That wasn’t what he was expecting you to say, but this had to be some sign if any. You look over his shoulder and he blocks your vision. No, no way, you ruined his life and are currently ruining it. He’d have to step on the brakes himself before he loses himself entirely on you.
“Yeah, everything’s fine,” he nods and spoke in a rushed tone. You had to leave now, he didn’t want to think of you anymore. You make him do things he shouldn’t ever even think about, and you didn’t even know. “I just knocked over my textbooks and it landed on my part of the robotics project and kaboom, you know what I mean?”
“Do you need help? It sounded really bad.”
“Oh, no, no it’s fine, I’ve got it. Thank you though. It looks like you got home okay so that’s good, yup, thanks for checking in on me,” he makes a move to close the door but you stopped him. Why were you so insistent? He had to stop himself from slamming the door into your foot.
“Jungwoo, you’re bleeding!” Jungwoo glanced down at the droplets of blood on his carpet. “Are you sure you don’t need my help? At least let me clean up whatever exploded while you fix that,” you pointed at his hand.
Fuck it.
“You know what? maybe some help would be nice,” he opened the door wider and let you in. “Thank you, (Y/N), I appreciate it.”
“Where is it?”
“My room, hold on,” Jungwoo quickly pats his hair down and you follow him into his room. “Sorry for the uh… mess.”
“Goodness… Are you okay? It didn’t hit you, did it?”
“Oh, I’m fine, I just have this stuck in my hand so that’s nice,” he holds up his left hand, which had a metal shrapnel sticking out. “I’m going to go fix this, I’ll be right back,” he nods quickly and exits the room. He pulls the shrapnel out of his hand and chucks it into the trash, he hits his head on the wooden cabinets. You always had the worst timing, didn’t you? He dug his hands in his hair, feeling some of the blood from his hands drip down his face. He was fucking sick of it, he was sick of being this obsessed with you and he needed to deal with you now.
“Do you usually keep dangerous projects in your bedroom?”
“Uh, no! I usually do it out in the living room but I was going to have guests over today, a couple of first-years from the STEM council were going to come over and I didn’t want the place to look clunky,” Jungwoo shouts. Part of that was true. He’d just have to go back to you now and tell you to leave, that would be it. Then he’d move out and never think about you again, yes, that’s the plan. Stick to the plan, Jungwoo. “And I’m sure you could see why I keep it out, very dangerous stuff if you upset it too much,” he rambles.
That’s the plan, right. He’d force himself to get over you and just never associate himself again. Look at what you’re doing to him, he was hanging on by a thread.
“Hey, Jungwoo?” Your voice graced him yet again. Jungwoo clenched his jaw but answered in the most natural way he could.
“Yeah?”
“What exactly is it that exploded?” There was a hint of suspicion in your voice that he caught on to. He started making his way back to you now, a dark feeling hung at the back of his head. You were putting things together, weren’t you? What did you see? He stood at the doorway and felt his heart stop beating altogether while he saw you staring at his desktop. “A combustion engine, it’s for the robotics team,” he answers. He shut the door behind him and you turned quickly, chucking something at him. Jungwoo caught it easily with one hand and stared at it. So you found that too then, he can’t talk himself out of this one. “Ah, this is embarrassing. You weren’t supposed to see that,” he points to his computer screen with your wallet. He laughs while he looks through your wallet, running his thumb across the cards in it.
Such a shame, now that he was finally committed to getting over you that sign he asked for started to come in waves, like the horrible person Fate was. Sure then, if all of these aligned it had to be the cruel coincidences that Jungwoo asked for. Plus, at this point, if he just let you go he’d probably find himself behind bars and that didn’t sound very fun at all.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t take anything out, I was going to give it back to you,” he says. He started taking large strides towards you and you kept backing up until you were pressed up against the wall. His heart thumped with every step he took, he liked the way you were looking at him right now but he couldn’t quite describe what it was about it, but whatever it was it got him going.
“Why?” That’s all you had to say to him?
“Just because,” Jungwoo shrugs. “You know what, I didn’t expect you to be this easy. I had no idea that you’d just waltz on in here, and all it took was that old thing,” Jungwoo nods towards the engine.
“I’ll just,” you stepped aside, but he blocked your way again, still with that same smile as usual. You really didn’t think that would work against him, did you? How pathetic.
“Ah, I was so close last night, you have a good friend, you know, a good eye on both of them. If Sungchan didn’t fuck up and let Johnny out of his sight I wouldn’t have had to resort to this messier plan,” Jungwoo’s smile falters only for a second. “I wasn’t even supposed to do this, I didn’t expect you to go snooping on my computer but, oh well, whatever happens, will happen,” he takes a step closer towards you now, you were cornered. “You’re just so easy, I’m surprised you never noticed,” he shook his head.
“I did, for a while,” you admitted. “But you were just so nice to everyone… I thought everything you did was just because you were being friendly.” At this Jungwoo laughed again, much louder and with a more sinister tone behind it. You really were just an idiot that somehow captured his attention, weren’t you? Of all the people.
“You don’t get it, do you?” He leaned over you and cupped your cheek, the blood from his hand dripping down your face. He traces his thumb down from your cheek to your collar bone. He always fantasized about what you felt like, but now that you were here, trembling in front of him, good god, it was like a whole new experience. “Of course I’m nice to them, it’s just manners,” he slides his hand around your skin until it wrapped around your neck, he’d been waiting for this moment, and ever so slowly he tightened his grip around it, all those nights he gave in to fantasy amounted to now, “but, my dear, I’m fucking obsessed when it comes to you.”

The Defense of Team Cap (Semi-Formalized) June 30th, 2020
@glassferns I did it. Look at how much I wrote. And the tags.
It began when Fern sent me this
Tumblr media
I am on Team Cap. Because of this, so when Fern sent me that I went straight to the teams defense, and this is that, but slightly formalized.
I have to agree that Steve was being extreme in his reaction to the Sokovia Accords, however there were valid reasons for him to be against the Accords and outside factors that made the response more extreme than it had to be.
To begin, we know that General Ross has been shown to be biased towards members of the Avengers with extreme abilities and no binding alliances (other than to the Avengers), such as Wanda Maximoff(Scarlet Witch) and Bruce Banner(The Hulk). Aside from this he is not, and has never been according to my memory, on particularly good terms with any of the Avengers.
Secondly, the government of the United States (in the MCU for the purposes of this argument) has not taken credit for things they’ve done. For example, in Marvel’s The Avengers(2012), The World Council, a panel of representatives from multiple countries around the world which oversaw S.H.I.E.L.D., made the decision to send a nuke to New York City in an attempt to stop the Chitauri from invading Earth. Not only, would this have killed at least 8 million people (there would have been others unaccounted for) but it most likely would have failed in stopping the invasion, because the Chitauri ships would have been out of range of the blast they would have been able to continue their invasion, but without the buffer made by the Avengers.
Thirdly, yes the Avengers have made mistakes. They are a human/human-like group of 8(sometimes 10) that try to deal with extreme threats to society, they will not be able to have successful mission 100% of the time. Let’s take a look at some of their mistakes and see how they could have been avoided. First off, Ultron. In Sokovia, the Avengers managed to minimize the damage as much as they could. Ultron himself was meant to be the peace-keeper the world needed, and had Tony Stark and Bruce Banner finished Ultron’s coding/upload before his conscience was activated, it’s highly unlikely that he would have actually caused so much damage. Secondly, Lagos. Wanda Maximoff saved hundreds of people. From what I could gather, there were hundreds of people in that marketplace that would have definitely died had Wanda not contained the explosion, and yes, those that were in the building and suffered from the explosion should not have had to deal with that, but comparatively, it was under 100 people vs hundreds. From the footage available, it also seems that Wanda was trying to send the explosion as high as she could away from all people, it’s just that she wasn’t able to contain it long enough to get it all the way up. Now, Wanda wouldn’t have had to deal with that explosion had Steve registered the bomb earlier. But he didn’t. And for this, I have to give partial blame to the government, specifically S.H.I.E.L.D.. Not all of the blame, but some of it.
Specifically because, this 27(?) year old man who died to save his country from the Tesseract lost everything. His friends, family, job, everything. Except for one person. The way they reintroduced him to the world would’ve been a huge shock and most likely did nothing to help his mental state. Additionally, he had about 2 weeks between his arrival in the 21st century before he had to turn around and fight for the exact thing he had lost everything for. If that wasn’t damaging enough to his psyche in Captain America: Civil War(2016) Peggy died. She was the last thing he had from the time he should have been living in and she was gone. This messed him up emotionally.
Similarly, Tony also would have been emotionally compromised because of his break with Pepper Potts. Having the two leaders of the team be emotionally compromised only hindered their decision making abilities which made their responses to such a rift being formed in the Avengers extreme.
Additionally, the government, specifically Colonel Phillips from Captain America: The First Avenger(2011), has made bad calls before. In the 40s, Steve was not supposed to rescue the 107th, he went against orders to do that. Their rescue was the victory that finally got Steve to go on more missions and save more people. So if he had listened to his superiors at the time, he both would have been stuck as a showperson (and potentially stuck in a lab after the war), the entire 107th would have been dead, and hydra would have stayed strong in its mission, meaning it could have done anything to the world. Another instance is in Captain America: The Winter Soldier(2014) when S.H.I.E.L.D. was going to use the tri-carriers to ‘protect’ the world. Though this was mainly Hydra, the program was still created/approved by the government and would have ruled through fear. Though this wasn’t a factor in Captain America: Civil War, S.H.I.E.L.D. did train Ava Starr(The Ghost) to be used in a manner similar to that of the Winter Soldier when he was under Hydras control. This only further cements the idea that S.H.I.E.L.D. and the government have not consistently thought about the wellbeing of many people and have given the Avengers many reasons to not trust them 100%.
Finally, the Avengers were given 3 days to read through a thick packet and make a decision that would severely affect their lives as a team. I assume this was done to intentionally pressure them into giving up a large portion of their control. Circling back to General Ross not having a very good standing with the Avengers and overall being a suspicious person. Considering he was the one to present the Sokovia Accords to the Avengers, I assume that there were some clauses that were not in the best interests of the Avengers or the people.
In conclusion, Team Cap had many reasons to go against the Sokovia Accords. There were too many unknown factors and too little time for the Avengers to make a sound decision as a team. Had they been given more time, they might have been able to negotiate a healthy supervision from the governments of the world. They made a good point of, what if we need to go somewhere they won’t let us. Despite what Natasha Romanoff said, I don’t think that them signing the Accords would allow them to still have, “one hand on the wheel” I think it would be more like the Avengers sitting in the passenger seat with a fake wheel in front of them. I do concede that the reactions of Team Cap were extreme and largely unnecessary but so were the reactions of Team Iron Man. This was all because the leaders of both teams were compromised. All of the mess and drama could have been avoided had the Avengers been given both more time to truly examine the Sokovia Accords and had more emotional and mental support during their years on active duty.
Due to all these factors and the faults of both teams, I’m Team Thor.

20 rzeczy, które powinieneś wiedzieć o fotograf warszawa
Photographic artwork can be above a hundred several years outdated even so the movie media has lately boomed everywhere. The Marriage Movie captures the essence as well as important moments of that working day for an eternity, across lifetimes and outside of.
A Short Film on the Wedding day Which has a World of That means
As opposed to becoming an Formal chapter of family record, the video captures so a great deal more. The personal moments and feelings, the hopes and goals, the tears and smiles Blend to history a realistic party that justifies to enter the webpages of chronology. The movie would unfold very like People famous feature movies that inform a Tale with people, time and position. Action and plot will not be important. It will eventually established the mood and relate Substantially more than what occurred on one night. The potent film medium would seize and assemble the earlier, current, and upcoming in magical ways. A lot of would modify a long time later on, but These memories would remain intact, to generally be glossed above by the following generation Possibly.
Media Answers That Go over Everything
The Wedding ceremony Video clip creative tactics also help in creating many other video applications. The identical skills enable to shoot documentaries and commercials which might be everywhere you go lately. Analysis reveals that texting would shortly develop into at least partly out of date with social media communications relying A growing number of on photos and films! Which makes a lot of feeling considering the fact that visuals usually meant a lot in excess of terms in simple to be familiar with and imaginative procedures. Commercials provide almost everything from toothpaste to automobiles but demand numerous skills to assemble effectively. Apart from imaginative skills, technically elevated movie productions In keeping with stylish kinds will be Considerably desired. Besides the Marriage ceremony Online video, coverage and filming for a reason would extend to each essential occasion Similarly properly.
Interviews and documentaries serve immense corporate and educational needs, besides becoming an essential A part of the each day media intake by the entire world's billions. Each of them is made up of a slice of historical past much like the wedding ceremony film and justifies expert awareness. However all are unquestionably crucial aspects of the advertising and marketing industry and create sufficient revenues, art and craftsmanship are intricately associated.
Avail a Bundle of Dedicated Expert services
The company from time to time feels misplaced amidst the many video and pictures businesses that try out to cope with better demand from customers. Practically nothing is possible currently with out films and they must be of wonderful creative and technological quality - trend, real estate property or hospitality?
Pretty much Talking, the movie providers include all The weather you'll anticipate finding inside of a commercial filmmaking unit, besides that it's on a lesser scale. Otherwise, An analogous enthusiasm and creativity are attribute from the approaches of the varied experts associated. Acquiring a minor Tale or an extended Tale is really a Artistic process that must have professional attractiveness. You get to find out numerous of these snippets in The tv promoting everyday. Arranging scenes, organizing the lights and choosing upon hanging backgrounds will be expertly accomplished to soften viewers' hearts. With out a profound influence, no products would market inside the excessively competitive Market. Creative strategies and arranging areas beneath skillful path can be suitably attained.
All things considered the taking pictures laboriously concluded by having an infinite series of will take and retakes will come to a different intricate job. Modifying the reels of film and arranging all the sights and Appears together with the insertion of titles is a posh Inventive procedure. Colours need to be well balanced and everything fine-tuned to generate the most beneficial perception upon the a lot of viewers.
An amazing Audience
Just what the crew loves is the moment world viewers obtainable on the net in the touch of a button. That is definitely determination ample Other than the USB and DVD copies that get dispatched to person consumers. Each shopper has a different story to tell and prerequisites differ but the vast majority of advertising and marketing calls for succeed plus the dreams are honorably fulfilled. The Wedding ceremony Movie continues to be the Main inspiration.
A picture suggests a thousand text. It really is a traditional wisdom that each of us has listened to at least as soon as in the lifetime. There exists a specific fact below but let me choose the freedom to switch it a little to make sure that it stays suitable in the present context. A effectively-taken and crystal clear image suggests a million words and phrases. Will it seem exaggerating? I absolutely Do not Imagine so. Using the escalating affect of social websites for instance Fb, Twitter and Instagram, a picture uploaded to those social media marketing sphere can go viral and staying talked about by millions of folks and well, in all probability over 1,000,000 times.
If you are a pictures enthusiast and you have a electronic digital camera, then life won't be full without having a excellent Image printer. However, as electronic photography is speedily shifting in the direction of cellular units like smartphones and tablets, finding the ideal Image printer is now not a trivial endeavor. That is definitely why dealing with superior Image printer assessments is crucial If you'd like to make sure that the printer that you buy is appropriate Along with the system where by your pictures are taken and saved. The issue you have to question depends upon what unit that you are acquiring. When you have an apple iphone, iPod or iPad, the dilemma might be if the printer supports Apple's AirPrint. Should you have an Android telephone or pill, the issue might be whether or not the printer supports Google's Cloud Print. But this issue is relevant only if you want to print your pictures straight from your cellular units.
As with all new know-how, reception to digital photography was not all lukewarm during its early a long time of introduction. It's a Considerably distinctive picture now as the number of buyers choosing analog digicam is shrinking to near extinction. Based on the current state-of-the-art, it is argueable that analog digital camera however retains couple edges but They're rapidly diminishing. The most significant edge that electronic camera has around its analog counterpart is the more Price tag economical plus much more hassle-free storage. Instead of capturing photos on film that should be formulated thereafter, photos captured employing a digital digital camera usually are stored in SD or Flash memory cards which minimizes the price of Each individual graphic capture to zero. When the most storage ability is attained, the pictures is usually transferred out in to the Computer system and also the storage space is often resetted to its unique ability. Impression preview characteristic is another advantage that is often touted away from electronic cameras. Immediately soon after Each and every impression capture, a single has the capacity to perform a quality Look at about the picture that has just been taken and if preferred, the graphic can just be deleted and retaken.
Tumblr media
In choosing for the best Photograph printer, There's 1 fundamental point that is frequently neglected by most customers. The very first thing that almost all potential buyers will likely be weighing is actually the cost tag which is hooked up on the printer. On nearer glance, this upfront Price is not really the greatest component that could draw dollars from shoppers' pocket. It's a typical understanding that major makers which include Canon, will not make the bulk of their take advantage of advertising the printer itself, but within the ink rather. It truly is amusing to know that In spite of these understanding getting obtainable in the general public area, it's one particular element that is certainly most commonly ignored by most people. So, one need to look at the expense of the ink the printer is using and the amount of output which might be churned out of every cartridge in lieu of merely investigating the purchase cost. Ultimately, the greater measurement metric to decide which Picture printer is the greatest might be the cost per printout.
You most likely have switched to digital camera by now. With revenue of smartphones at last surpassing that of 'dumbphones', I wager you might be Keeping on to one presently. With all the technological know-how even now evolving continually, usually do not suppose leading models to become the chief. Even if you find yourself purchasing a Canon printers, be sure you go through Canon photo printer critiques and open up oneself to the entire world of options. There are actually new designs introduced Every so often. And on this planet of technology, disruptive innovation generally originates from challenger and never the incumbent. Will not the listing of most effective Image printers for 2013 will certainly be various from that of past 12 months.

Get to know National President Alicia Patten Williams
We asked National President Alicia Patten Williams a few questions to help you get to know her better.
Tumblr media
What are you most looking forward to about continuing on National Council?
I love serving on National Council. I’m so inspired by and in awe of the women I work with on a daily basis. Another fun thing about serving on Council is meeting sisters across the country. It’s a wonderful reminder that Zeta Is Forever, and I get to see how the Fraternity has impacted sisters’ lives in every place I travel. It’s phenomenal.
What is your favorite ZTA memory?
There are too many to choose from! However, at this past Convention, we celebrated two special sisters and friends of mine with a sisterhood circle. Both were recently engaged and are getting married this fall. It was emotional and special for those that participated.
What drew you to ZTA as a collegian?
I went through recruitment as a sophomore on purpose—I wanted a solid year to scope out the sororities on campus. I met this wonderful ZTA, Sherrie (pictured below), in biology class. She was smart and pretty and she lived in my dorm. We became instant friends. Going through Primary Recruitment, I knew the only place I wanted to call home was ZTA. Sherrie ended up becoming my Big Sister in ZTA. I’ll never forget her influence on me. She’s a big part of why I’m a ZTA today.
Tumblr media

Who’s your ZTA mentor?
Laura Landers was my Membership Advisor when I was Vice President III/Membership Chairman at Texas State. She taught me everything I know. It’s surreal serving on National Council alongside her and following in her footsteps as National President.
Which line of The Creed is the most “you”?
Depending on the day, I’ll give you a different response to this question. “To think in terms of all mankind and our service in the world” sticks out because even though I sometimes have a tough exterior, my true heart and desire is to provide service to the world—at the local and national levels. Nothing makes me happier than serving others; it’s my calling in life to give of my time and talents.

What is something not very many people know about you?
People are always surprised to hear I’m an introvert! I love my social time, but I need my quiet, stay-at-home time in order to recharge/refresh my batteries.
What app could you not live without?
There are several, but I would say Instagram. I can’t imagine NOT being connected to friends and family across the country. IG makes me happy.
[Check out all of Alicia’s adventures by following @aliciazta.np]
If you could be in the Olympics, what sport would you compete in?
Tough one! I absolutely love the Olympics—just call me Leslie Jones. If I were to pick a summer Olympic sport, I’d pick diving, swimming or gymnastics. For the winter Olympics, I’d do ice skating or possibly the women’s downhill.
Tumblr media
Pictured: Alicia practicing for her Olympic debut circa 1986
What’s your favorite travel destination?
My husband, Seth, and I love to travel, and we’ve been to some FUN places across the globe. Still, one of our favorite trips was to Costa Rica, where we explored the entire country and were able to visit my ZTA Little Sister, Chrisi, who lives there part time.

Rapid fire: This or that?
Dogs or cats? Dogs, I have two!
Sweet or salty? Depends but most of the time sweet!
Mountains or beach? Definitely beach!
Turquoise or silver? I love turquoise and enjoy wearing all things this hue!
Coffee or tea? Neither, I prefer Coke Zero.
Early bird or night owl? Early bird gets the worm!
TV shows or movies? TV shows; too many to choose from but love Game of Thrones!
Coke or Pepsi? Coke all the way! If a restaurant serves Pepsi I’ll choose water.
Summer or Winter? There’s a reason why I live in Arizona; love the heat as long as there’s good AC! Summer it is...

genre: fluff
pairing: lee minho & you
word count: 2306 words
summary: dating minho and all the quirks/aspects of your relationship
note(s): in this house we love and appreciate minho so much.. we miss you so much please come back soon here is the third part of the boyfriend series! as per usual it’s in bullet point format. <3 for all the lovely minho stans! (p.s. this gif was originally created by @hyyunjinn i just can’t seem to find the original post with tumblr’s gif system)
Tumblr media
your younger brother jeongin was the focus of your attention most days, you felt it was right for you to take care of him and protect him as he was younger than you and considerably softer compared to most kids his age in terms of personality
as he grew older he had found a passion for dancing and begged your parents to let him take classes at the studio nearby to which you promised you would take him to and from everyday, and the smile on his face when they finally agreed made you set on contributing to your deal
keeping him happy was all that mattered to you but after the first few weeks you noticed your usual cheery brother had grown weary and much more tired, yet managing to force a smile on his face
“it was great” was always his response to your questions about the day but it was obvious in his eyes that he wasn’t entirely truthful
most days you wait five minutes before his classes should end to leave, but that particular day you had been out already and decided even with the extra twenty minutes to spare you might as well start walking and you could just sit and wait for him to come out
as you walk closer to the studio you can see two figures outside and stop behind a tree as you realize jeongin is one of them, his eyes looking at the ground with tears rolling down his face and his fists clenched in embarrassment
“jeongin, you’re doing your best. don’t listen to them. it just takes you a little more but it’s nothing to worry about...”
a boy slightly older than him is rubbing his shoulder with a concerned expression
jeongin hiccups and listens to the boy as he continues on reassuring him he’s doing good and any skills he needs to brush up on he’ll be there to help him throughout the way no matter how long it takes and it’s nothing to worry about
“thank you minho, you’re the best. i appreciate you so much.” jeongin hugs him and the older boy smiles and hugs him back just as warmly
your heart twitches at the sight because jeongin is genuinely so happy and seems so much more relaxed than before and you never knew there was a burden on his shoulders over his ability
minho was his name? minho...you were thankful to him. he was helping your brother out...and come to think of it on your walks back home jeongin had mentioned him briefly, geeking out about how nice and talented he was
jeongin had forgotten to mention how warm and handsome he was though uhm...how fake
as you see jeongin wipe away his tears you decide it’s best to come out now and pretend as if you didn’t see anything to spare him from an awkward forced conversation
“jeongin! how was class?” both boys turn to look at you and his face lights up instantly as he hugs you
minho watches you both and lingers his eyes a little longer on you and wow jeongin had definitely mentioned having an older sibling but failed to mention they were really attractive jeongin what the heck
“uh...” although you pretend not to notice you can feel jeongin shoot the older boy a look who quickly gives a thumbs up and your brother just smiles at you
“it was great! hey, have i introduced you to minho yet?” he eagerly tugs you closer to the older male and wow he is even more attractive up close
it’s a minho thing to be that lethal you know what i mean
minho gives you a warm smile before holding out his hand to shake yours but wow his hands are really soft and you can tell he uses lotion that’s a nice quality right there you trust him
“jeongin talks a lot about you, it’s nice to finally meet the living legend.” his voice is a lot more quiet and calm than you expected but it sounds really soothing and nice
“nice to meet you too, i could say the same thing. thanks for keeping him company, he can’t shut up about you or hyunjin.” and from there the both of you just talk about the classes and jeongin
and the whole time you fail to realize the slightly mischievous look in jeongin’s eyes because yes his plan is working he has waited years for the both of you to meet and speak to each other
not like he had planned to cry or anything to get minho to meet you, but he had definitely made sure to talk about both of you to the other because you’re both his favorite people and coincidentally single and how cool would it be to have his favorite people like each other
after 20 minutes you realize it’s getting a little dark out and reach for jeongin to come closer
“it was really nice meeting you but i think we have to get going since the street lights are pretty dim and we don’t want to get home in the dark...”
“wait! minho...you should give us a ride home,” and you gently smack jeongin’s hand and he gives a little ow and rubs his arm but he really REALLY needs you guys to be together longer
he can feel it his plan is working you’re both interested it’s so obvious please minho don’t fail him
and yes! minho thinks a little
“if you’re comfortable i can drop you both off, i would feel bad taking up your time and letting you both go alone.” and although you feel guilt you eventually agree once jeongin hops into the back of his small car and buckles in (this kid i swear)
the car ride is short lived but pleasant and once you both get down he’s like wait no
and you’re like huh did i forget something? and he blushes a little because he didn’t think this through he has no reason to keep you from going why is he doing that
“i know we just met but i was wondering if i could have your number,” and jeongin just FIST PUMPS because yes it worked it’s happening and you shyly type your phone number into his phone and put a little heart emoji next to your name and he smiles and does the same thing to your phone
once you both go inside you lock the door and look at jeongin with your arms crossed
“i know what that was you little twerp” and he just looks at you innocently with a big grin and shrugs his shoulders, running in to greet your parents
from that point you both text EVERY single hour you have never replied so fast and neither has he
his roommates make fun of him because he’ll leave his phone in his room and wander around the apartment looking for something to do until he hears the ding from his room and speeds back in
every single day you both get a ride home from minho but eventually he’s taking you both to eat, watch movies, do something else
and around five months of the routine jeongin decides he should probably leave you both to do as you please because these “hang outs” are more like dates and he feels like a little baby third wheeling both of you even if you both try to include him as much as possible
especially because around this time minho has moved out into his own little apartment and jeongin is like yeah okay privacy is definitely due here
around the fifth month of this routine as minho drops you both of and opens the door for you, jeongin huffs and slams the door closed
“when are you gonna start dating for real? it’s so painful watching you two awkwardly wait it out.” and he just goes inside and minho starts sweating
there’s a thick awkward silence and he just shuffles his feet as you take a sudden interest in your nails
“i think he’s right.” minho smiles at you and intertwines his hands with yours
“would you like to be with me?”
jeongin takes a quick snapchat of it and saves it in his memories so you can all look back on the day fondly
minho is genuinely one of the best boyfriends a person could have
his heart is so big and he genuinely cares about everyone he meets
before he does anything or plans anything he always makes sure you like the idea or are comfortable with everything
even if it’s a surprise which kind of ruins the surprise but makes the effort a lot more appreciated because he just wants to respect you and any boundaries you could possibly have
he’s so easy going and vanilla too.. he’s right out of a novel
one day you both go to the mall on a date and get frozen yogurt and while he gives you some a little elderly lady gushes over how cute you both are and how handsome your boyfriend is and he just blushes and thanks her
absolutely loves being in contact with you...whether you’re there with him or note he just has to talk to you whether it be through text or snapchats
also the type of couple to have different conversations on every app you use like on snapchat you’re asking how each other’s days were and on twitter he’s sending you memes and maybe on instagram you’re debating conspiracy theories its great
tags you in really..really old school memes like dad material memes...it’s not even funny but you don’t have the heart to tell him
also minho is so good at taking selfies and has such good fashion taste? he loves getting you to dress up with him and try to subtly match
and he takes pictures everywhere you both go and uploads them on instagram
tries to get you to dance to choreo with him and has a lot of patience with teaching you
your mom is always trying to meet him because jeongin adores him and so do you and she’s like i bet i will too
before he kisses you he looks at your lips and then at you like can i,, y’know...sometimes he’ll ask and it’s really cute
“babe have you seen my glasses?” he’s literally tearing up his room trying to find them and you just look up from his blankets and pause netflix because you’re wearing them
“perhaps...right here?” and he laughs and tries to get them but you roll under the blankets and hide
and he lifts the blankets up and you both start play wrestling and you’re pretty stubborn about keeping them
until he starts tickling you and you scream and kick and laugh
he grabs your hands so you can stop moving and after a while your laughter subsides and you can feel the heat rush to your head because he’s kind of...straddling you...and you’re under him and this a very romantic moment
and he’s like omg...i got this..kiss them...it’ll be great
and he leans in
AND SMASHES HIS FOREHEAD AGAINST YOURS and there’s no kiss because you’re both in pain and he ruined it good job minho you tried
whenever you’re tired or grumpy or just in a bad mood he kisses all over your face and plays with your hair to calm you down
he’s an amazing advice giver...he is so good at sympathizing with people and he really does care
oh he loves all music but on the weekends he usually has some type of oldies playing and you’re trying to read something on your phone and he just saunters into view
“dance with me!” and you’re like uh no that’s not happening
“that’s too bad i guess i’ll have to teach you how.” and he just puts your phone down and tugs you up with him
you’re a little clumsy at first but eventually get the simple two step and sway down and it’s so cute and he’s like an actual prince while you’re both dancing
he looks so happy and looks at you like you’re so precious
when you finally have him meet your parents they realize it’s true...he’s perfect. lee minho is perfect everyone
jeongin is like oh yes i told you so
sometimes minho gets sensitive because he’s critical of himself and doesn’t want to put his burdens on you because he feels like he has to take care of you and shouldn’t ask for anything in return
but every time he says that you just hug him really hard and kiss the tip of his nose gently and tell him that’s not true and a relationship has to work on both sides so he has to be open with you
sometimes it leads to arguments between the both of you and it’s really tense but after some hours pass you both realize your mistakes and apologize to each other and promise to try to understand each other more
one day while you’re watching a movie on his couch minho notices how tired you look and gets really affectionate while you lean into his chest and just curl up to him
and he tilts your head up because he really wants to kiss you but remembers what happened last time
“okay...i’m going in” and he kisses you and his lips taste like his mint chapstick and it’s so nice and gentle
and once he pulls away you burst into laughter
“stop don’t laugh at me” and he’s worried you’re laughing because it was bad or regrettable
“i’m laughing because you said ‘i’m going in’, you’re so cute.” and he just gets all quiet because you’re supposed to be getting showered in affection not him
minho really loves when you compliment and fawn over him because he never is kind to himself and when you do it he truly believes it
every day he is thankful to have met jeongin because not only did he befriend an amazing kid but he got to meet the love of his life

Hey, this causes errors if you are running from source and using PyQt5 (PySide2 is fine)! All the releases above are PySide2, so they are ok! I will fix this for next week, so if you are source+QtPy5, please hold off for now.
I had a great week overhauling the media viewer's image rendering. Zooming and navigation should be a lot smoother now!
image tiles
tl;dr: the media viewer now zooms and navigates with less lag and flicker
Zooming in a long way, particularly for large images, has been pretty hellish for as long as the program has existed. Historically, the client drew the whole image in memory at the zoom you desired so it could quickly show you the bit it needed on screen. Of course this meant zooming in to 400% on anything above 4k was suddenly taking a very long time to set up and eating a lot of memory to do it. As images have naturally grown over time, the problem has occurred more often and was starting to affect other systems.
My plan to fix this has been to break the image into tiles that then render on demand. The parts of the image off-screen are never drawn, saving CPU and memory and allowing arbitrary zoom. This is a significantly more complicated idea, and rewriting the whole rendering pipeline was always expected to be a multi-week 'big job'. I originally planned to just optimise and tweak the secondary systems and add in some sanity brakes this week, but I ran a couple of small tiling tests and realised if I went bonkers it would be possible to hack in a prototype. So I did!
In the media viewer, images now draw in tiles. It works a little like a browseable satellite map, where when you zoom in and pan about you see squares of data fading in (except in hydrus they appear instantly). You should now be able to zoom in as far as you like on an image pretty quick and you won't have any sudden memory needs.
Furthermore, I have written a cache for these image tiles. This saves CPU when revisiting different images or zooms, so when you flick back and forth between two normal things, it should now be instant! It still takes 20-200ms to view or zoom most images the first time, but going back to that view or zoom within a minute or so should be really smooth. The cache starts at a healthy 256MB this week. I think that will cover most users very well (in screen real estate, it works out to about 35 x 1080p worth of tiles), but you can alter it under the settings at options->speed and memory.
And I did some misc work improving the rendering pre-fetch logic when you browse in the media viewer. Huge files won't stomp all over the image renderer cache any more, which should make browsing through a series of giant images far less jank. If you are feeling advanced, you can now edit the prefetch timing and distance settings too, also under options->speed and memory.
I am really pleased with this week's work, but there are some drawbacks: I did it quick, so I cannot promise it is good. The most obvious bug already is that at around 200-500% zoom you start to see tiling artifacts. I know what causes this (interpolation algorithms not getting full pixel neighbour data from my simple tesselating tiles) and have a plan to fix it (adding a tile border pre-resize, and then cropping). There is also an issue when the 'virtual' image exceeds about 32,000x32,000, so I hacked a zoom block for that. There may be some weird files that render with other stitching artifacts or bad tile data. Note also that hydrus's 'Animation' renderer (the soundless fallback if you do not have mpv support) does NOT use tiling yet, so it still sucks at zooming! Please let me know how you get on!
If you have a steam-powered GPU or a machine with only 4GB of ram, you might like to wait for 439 so I can address any surprise bugs or performance issues.
PTR and account permissions
The PTR is changing how its accounts work. The shared public account is transforming to a 'read-only' account that can only download, so if you want to upload, you'll be going to manage services to auto-create your own privileged account. This is being done to improve janitor workflow for the various petitions, which were all being merged together because of the shared account. With the recent network updates, it will soon be easier for janitors to send simple messages back to these individual accounts, like 'that proposed sibling was not approved because...'.
Unfortunately, various permission and account-management code has not been tested much until now, so as the PTR guys have been trying this stuff out, I have been working to improve bad notifications and workflows. This week I rounded out account permissions testing with uploading. Hydrus no longer tries to upload content the current account does not have permission for, and if you end up in that situation, popup messages now tell you what is going on. It also catches if your account is currently 'unsynced', with instructions to fix.
Similarly, under 'manage siblings/parents', you can now see and edit all tag repositories (previously, they were hidden if you currently had no permission), but you get a label telling you if you don't have permission.
full list
media viewer:
I have hacked in tile-based image rendering for the media viewer. this has always been planned as a larger, longer-term job, but the problem of large images is only getting worse, so I decided to just slam out a prototype in a week. if you have a steam-powered GPU or 4GB ram, you might like to wait until next week to update so I can iron out any surprise bugs or performance problems
images are now cut into tiles that are rendered on demand, so whenever the image is zoomed larger than the media viewer window, only those tiles currently in view have CPU and memory spent on resizing and storage. as you pan around, new tiles are rendered as needed, and old discarded. this makes zooming in super fast and low memory, even for large images!
although I am happy with this, and overall we are talking a huge improvement on previous performance, it is ugly fast code. it may fail for some unusual files. it slices and blits bitmaps around your video memory much faster than before, so some odd GPUs may also have problems. I haven't seen any alignment artifacts (1-pixel thick missing columns or rows), but some images may produce them. more apparent are some pretty ugly tile artifacts that show up between 200% and 500% zoom (interpolation algorithms, which rely on neighbour pixels, are missing border data with my simple system). I will consider how best to implement more complicated but stitch-correct overlapping tiles in future
futhermore, a new 'image tile' cache is added. you can customise size and timeout under _options->speed and memory_ like for images and thumbnails. this is a dedicated cache for remembering image resize computation across images and zooms. once you have seen both situations once, flicking back and forth between two images or zoom levels is now generally always instant! this new cache starts at a healthy default of 256MB. let's see how that amount works out IRL--I think it will be plenty
I tuned the image renderer cache--it no longer caches huge images that eat more than 25% its total size--meaning these images only hang around as long as you are looking at them--and the prefetch call that pre-renders several files previous/next to the current image no longer occurs on images that would eat more than 10% the cache size. this should greatly reduce weird flicker and other lag when browsing through a series of mega-images (which before would stomp through the cache in quick succession, barging each other out of the way and wasting a bunch of CPU). in real world terms, this basically means that with an image cache of 200MB, you should have slower individual image performance but much better overall performance looking at images with more than about 5k resolution. the dreaded 14,000x12,000 png will still bonk you on the head to do the first render, but it won't try to uselessly prefetch or flush the whole cache any more
if you are currently looking at a static image, neighbour prefetch now only starts once the image is rendered, giving the task in front of you a bit more CPU time
new options for prefetch delay and previous/next distance are added to 'speed and memory'
note this does not yet apply to the old hydrus animation renderer. that still sucks at high zoom!
another future step here is to expand prefetch to tiles so the first view of the 'next' media is instant, but let's let all this breathe for a bit. if you get bugs, let me know!
due to a Qt issue, I am stopping zoom-in events that would make the 'virtual' size of the image greater than 32,000x32,000
.
account permission improvements:
to group sibling and parent petitions by uploader (and thus help janitor workflow), the PTR is moving to a system where the public account is download-only and accounts that can upload content are auto-generated in manage services. this code has not been tested much before, and it revealed some very bad reporting and handling of current permissions. I move this forward this week:
if your repository account is currently unsynced from a serious previous error, any attempt to upload pending data will result in a little popup and the upload being abandoned
manage tag siblings and parents will now show service tabs even if the account for those services does not seem currently able to upload tags or siblngs
if your repository account is currently unsynced from a serious previous error, this is now noted in red text in manage siblings and manage parents
if your repository account does not have sibling/parent upload permission, this is now noted in red text in manage siblings and manage parents. you will be able to pend and petition siblings and parents ok
if your repository account does not have mapping/sibling/parent upload permission of the right kind, your client will no longer attempt to upload these content types, and if there is pending count for one of these types, a popup will note this on an upload attempt
.
the rest:
added https://github.com/NO-ob/LoliSnatcher_Droid to the Client API help!
improved some error handling, reporting, and recovery when importing serialised pngs. specific error info is now written to the log as well
fixed a secondary error when dropping non-list, non-downloader pngs on Lain's easy downloader import window, and fixed a 'no interesting objects' reporting test when dropping multiple pngs
added a 'cache report mode' to help debug image and thumb caching issues
refactored the media viewer code to a new 'canvas' submodule
improved the error reporting when a thumbnail cannot be generated for a file being imported
fixed an error in zoom center calculation when a change zoom event was sent in the split-second during media viewer initialisation
I think I fixed an issue where pages could sometimes not automatically move on from 'loading initial files' statusbar text when initialising the session
the requirements.txt now specifies 'requests' 2.23.0 exactly, as newer versions seemed to be giving odd urllib3 attribute binding errors (seems maybe a session thread safety thing) when recovering from connection failures. this should update the macOS build as well as anyone running from source who wants to re-run the requirements.txt. I hacked in a catch for this error case anyway, just a manual retry like a normal connection error, we'll see how it goes (issue #665)
patched an unusual file import bug for a flash file with an inverted bounding box that resulted in negative reported resolution. flash now takes absolute values for width and height
next week
Back to multiple local file services. Mostly more backend cleanup and prepping File Import Options and the Client API for talking to multiple locations.

my media use
At noon on Thursday, October 29th, I woke up. I had about two hours until I had to pick my sister up from school. I took a shower, got dressed, and went downstairs. By this point, it was around 12:30pm. I ate a bowl of cereal, picked up my phone, and laid down on the couch. When I get on my phone for the first time in a day, I check my emails and text messages first. I have emails from Venmo, Word of the Day, Postmates, and Holt International. Venmo let me know I had signed in to the app. Word of the Day gave me a fun new term: “subitaneous,” which can mean “suddenly.” I occasionally deliver food with Postmates, so they let me know what benefits they offer, such as store or entertainment discounts. Holt International is a Christian company that finds kids who are missing parents or struggling financially, and connects them with volunteers who sponsor them by sending a monthly fee over, to help them cover expenses. My parents have sponsored kids for years, and when I got my own source of income, they chose a girl in India for me to sponsor as well. Holt International sends me various promotional emails. I check my email to see if there are any coupons, or information that I need, such as paychecks. Mostly my email revolves around money, when I think about it. Sometimes I feel stressed out when I check my email, because my bank will tell me how much money I have, or I will read a subject line wrong and think I’m in trouble with a company. Usually, I just feel a sense of necessity, to see what I’m being emailed about, and to delete the emails I do not need.
After I check my emails, I check my text messages. Most mornings this sequence is flipped, as messages are much more important in my world than emails are. However, this morning, the only text in my phone is a confirmation request for my wisdom teeth removal appointment in a week. I respond “Y” to confirm. I am a little nervous about the appointment, but I am glad it will happen so soon.
It is now 1pm. On Monday, I had taken my one-year-old 16GB LG smartphone and factory reset it in the hopes of getting more storage and faster processing time. Unfortunately, this did not work out as well as I had hoped. While I did have more space, the “system” (undeletable, inaccessible parts of the phone) took up 9GB of my available 16, and would only increase, even after a full wipe. I click on Snapchat, take a quick close-up picture of my face, and begin to type. Any story posted to Snapchat will only last 24 hours before disappearing. There is an option for the poster to have story posts saved into their Memories, a camera roll just for Snapchat. I have a private Snapchat story, in which I control the amount of people who see what I specifically post in that area. In this story, I have about 30-33 viewers. I ask such viewers, over top of the close-up selfie, “Anyone with Apple iPhones: what is your storage like? I am thinking of converting.” After it successfully adds to my story, I am on the Snapchat “Chat” screen. I have “streaks” (numbers that indicate the number of days two people have sent each other Snaps back and forth for) with eleven people. I send, one by one, a different picture to each of the eleven people. When I first downloaded Snapchat, I had over two dozen, maybe even three dozen streaks. Some people have hundreds. Often, people take one single picture, indicate in some way that the image is being sent to maintain the Streak number, and send it to everyone they keep a streak with. I have eleven people I send streaks to. It is no great hassle for me to send a different picture to each person. In fact, I prefer it, as it takes up more time. Most people take a little while to respond anyways. I dislike when people respond to my Snapchats within seconds, it is stressful to me! “Don’t you have anything else going on?” I wonder. “I understand that it’s a pandemic, but do some homework or something. I only snapped you twenty seconds ago.” Once I have sent all of my streaks for the day, I scroll over to see what other people have put on their stories. I usually only have around 50 stories to go through each day. I pay a little more attention to some, a little less attention to others. It is pretty easy to skip quickly from one story to the next if I want, but it’s only 1:20, so I have time to look at each one. There are Friday fundraisers, one of my sister’s friends had an emergency appendectomy (thankfully she was fine, and excited to watch Impractical Jokers in the hospital), some people had work pictures or puppies in beds. Most of the stories make me smile, a few don’t elicit much of a response or thought besides “oh, that’s nice.” Usually Snapchat does not bring me negativity that I am aware of. Sometimes I worry for people, in the event of, oh, a hypothetical emergency appendectomy, or when someone is sad or worried. One person makes me frustrated sometimes, as they routinely ask people for money for rent and food, then use that money to get tattoos. They tell people they used their money to get a tattoo, not food or rent. Lately they have not posted any requests, but the next time they do, I will most likely block them. Mostly, I am happy to use Snapchat to see what my friends are up to, even if I can’t see them very often.
After scrolling through Snapchat, it’s around 1:40. I open the Instagram app. I talk to a few friends through Instagram direct messaging. I am actually not sure why that is our main form of communication, but I do not mind it. My friend Russell has answered my Snapchat story through Instagram. He has an older iPhone, but as long as he doesn’t update it, it doesn’t get any slower. We discuss other aspects of the iPhone. I am thoughtful about it. Another friend and I get into a small argument- we have both been busy, and were worried that we were growing apart. I am slightly annoyed, then understanding and calm. A group chat I am in, called The Rats, is sending pictures of baby opossums. They are adorable and their mouths open at a full 45-degree angle. The possums make me smile. Returning to the Instagram home page, I can see posts made by people I follow. I like nearly every post I see as I scroll down. Mostly I follow people I know, and a few brands. It takes only a minute or two to like everything and return to the top of the page. Similar to Snapchat, I take care of business, then move on to stories. I pay very little attention to Instagram stories. Even though I don’t follow a lot of brands, some of the people I follow post dozens of stories in a row. I have to click through them rapidly. Sometimes it makes me feel anxious to move so quickly. Usually, if someone repeatedly posts too much, I “mute” them, which means I do not have to see their story anymore unless I actively choose to. Sometimes, I forget, and am left tapping tensely through the tags. As I finish going through stories, my mom walks in the door. It’s 1:50pm.
My sister goes to a technical school 15 minutes away. She has to be picked up around 2:15pm. My mom puts down some bags from errands she’s run, grabs some water, and asks if my brother and I want to join her to pick up my sister. My brother is in the middle of an XBox match, but the dog and I love car rides, and joyfully accompany her. She asks me to turn on my Halloween playlist as we drive. Around 1:55pm, I connect to the car’s aux cord, and pull up Spotify. As we drive, I fiddle with the Spotify songs- even though I made the playlist, there are some songs I prefer to hear over others. I also occasionally respond to messages about iPhone storage. Each one convinces me a little more, bit by bit. I am on my phone for about seven of the fifteen minutes that we drive to the school. As we wait in the parking lot, I text a little more. We were in the parking lot for about fifteen minutes- my sister forgot her iPad in her classroom and had to go back for it. I am on my phone for about nine of those fifteen minutes. When my sister gets back again, we head towards home. Beggar’s Night is going on at 6pm. It is around 2:30pm. My sister and I are going to dress up as Dipper and Mabel from Gravity Falls for when we ladle out candy. My sister and the dog are dropped off at home so that she can finish her costume and he can run around the backyard. My mom and I go to Walmart to pick up candy. We do not usually allow ourselves to pick up candy until very shortly before Beggar’s Night, as we will eat it. Even less than four hours was not enough time to exercise self-control, as each member of the family stole a few pieces. I am not on my phone for most of the Walmart trip. We are only there for around twenty minutes, weighing the prices and candy amounts of each package. After paying and driving home, we get in the door around 3pm.
I get on my laptop to check my CState email and Blackboard. I have no due assignments for the night, but I check to make sure I haven’t forgotten something. This takes around five minutes. I begin to finish my Dipper costume (painting a white ball cap partially blue), periodically answering more iPhone suggestions, and responding to regular messages. The hours of 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm consist of texting, painting, and briefly eating. I spend about one & a half of the three hours texting. I can’t easily text while I paint, but I perform both tasks alternatively while I wait for the paint to dry or people to respond. When it hits 6pm, we are ready for Beggar’s Night. We have masks on, a long ladle to scoop candy into bags, and cover from the garage to protect us from rain. Over the course of the two hours, we only get about a dozen kids, maybe fifteen at the most. My mom scoops generously, since she knows anything left over won’t last until 9pm under our roof. People are grateful and talkative. I am on my phone only once during Trick or Treat, and only for five minutes, to upload a Snaochat story of my sister and I as Dipper and Mabel, and of course, send a couple of texts. After Trick or Treat is finished, we are all cold, and left with about 10 of the 255 candy pieces. We settle down in front of the TV.
It is now around 8pm. We watch TV together nearly every night as a family, usually for at least an hour. In celebration of October and Halloween, we have started to rewatch Stranger Things. Other shows we may watch include New Girl, My Name is Earl, Bob’s Burgers, The Good Place, and The Legend of Korra. Sometimes we’ll throw in a movie if we have enough time. Usually we watch three or four episodes per night- one episode from one show, then moving on to one episode of a different show. I love all of these shows fairly equally, though I can confidently say The Legend of Korra is my least favorite. I still enjoy it! In comparison, though, I enjoy it less than the others. We watch shows that usually include comedy, to end our days with a collective laugh. Tonight, we watch New Girl, then Stranger Things, followed by My Name is Earl and tying up the night with Bob’s Burgers. We only have two episodes left of The Good Place, so we have been putting off watching it. I am mostly finished texting for the day. Before 10pm, I send goodnight messages and plug my phone in to charge. The end credits of Bob’s Burgers mark the end of my day.

19. Spicy food or mild food: I like a bit of spice on things, but overall most of my food is on the milder side.
20.  halloween/samhain or solstice/yule/christmas: Halloween is good but I love the atmosphere surrounding Christmas and just the general good cheer and attitude.
21.  would you rather forever be a little too cold or a little too hot: Where I live is super hot so I’d have to say cold. Also, when you’re cold you can always put on more layers. There’s only so many things you can take off when you’re too hot.
22.  if you could have a superpower, what would it be: I’ve been adamant about this for several years. I would choose teleportation. Just think how much money you’d save? No more plane tickets, no more paying for cars/car insurance…. You’d also never be late to anything, ever and your commute time would be zero! And if a bad guy is near you you can just teleport away!
23.  animation or live action: Depends on the subject matter. If it’s more fantasy I’d say animation. If it’s more entrenched in drama I’d say live action.
24.  paragon or renegade: ????
25.  baths or showers: showers
26.  team cap or team ironman:  I love them both dearly but I have to say I’m partial to Cap. He’s just so pure and good.
27.  fantasy or sci-fi: I really love both, but I think I ere on the side of fantasy
28. do you have three or four  favourite quotes? if so what are they:
“I want that” (via Napoleon Dynamite)
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”  (Dr. Seuss)
“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.”
(J.K Rowling…. this was actually my senior quote in my year book)
29.  youtube or netflix: netflix
30.  harry potter or percy jackson: Harry potter, however I really also love Percy Jackson as well. They’re both good boys.
31.  when you feel accomplished: when i finish reading a 150,000 + fanfic in 1-2 days.
32.  star wars or star trek: star trek.
33.  paperback books or hardback books: Paper back only because it’s less expensive. I understand that hardbacks are superior though.
34. horror or rom-com: Probably horror, although it can’t be one of those super cheap horrors that rely on jump scare or whatever. It needs to be legit and interesting.
35.  to live in a world without literature or music: What would be the point to life???
36.  pastel colours or dark colours: Pastels
37.  tv shows or movies: shows - you stay with the characters longer and there’s more time for character development and complicated plots.
38.  city or countryside: City. I like the country for like… a few days, but then after that I get really board. As much of an introvert as I am I still need things going on around me to be happy.
39.  if any other zodiac sign could describe you, what would it be: Don’t get me started on this pseudo-psychology….. (*whispers* prob a virgo)
40.  if you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be: Oh god this is hard. I don’t really listen to albums, mostly just individual songs that I like. If I had to pick one, though, at this point I’d choose Hamilton.
41.  cinema or theatre: cinema simply because I rarely, if ever, go the to theatre. I know I enjoy it, but it just happens so rarely that I can’t really compare the two.
42.  if you could be any fictional character’s best friend, who’d you be: Yuuri Katsuki or Kuroko Tetsuya. I feel like with both we’d get along really, really well.
43.  smiling or smirking: Smiling. Smirking has a rather negative connotation, no?
44.  are you an ‘all or nothing’ type or are you more consistent: Consistent
45.  playlists or your whole library on shuffle: Playlists. If I shuffle things I always end up skiping until it gets to the song I actually want.
46.  travelling or staying at home: Traveling, but it can’t be 24/7. I definitely need time to recharge at home once in a while.
47.  books or fanfiction: Both are great, but tbh like most of us I have only really read fanfic recently. I have a few published books that I’m currently trying to get through, though!
48.  If you could live in a fantasy world, what world would it be: Probably Harry Potter, but only if I was a witch. Having magic would solve so many of my problems!
49. your favorite cartoon: It’s kinda up for debate whether it’s an anime or cartoon, but I’m calling it a cartoon made in the anime style simply because it’s not Japanese made. Avatar the last airbender/Legend of Korra
50.  name the weirdest five songs on your itunes, current or past: Hmmmm ok here’s what I came up with
Chum Drum Bedrum Ok I love this song so much. The singer completely describes how I am as a person: hella awkward, long and lanky, and flowy. He represents me on so many levels.
2-1 by Imogen Heap Not a lot of people know about this song but I find it so intriguing and interesting. Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, though.
Wide Eyed by Animal Collective This song is what it sounds like if you're on LSD, I imagine.
Five Night’s at Freddy’s Song 1 This song is very strange - it’s based off of a horror computer game - but you have to admit it’s jammin.
Seaboard Rise 49 Literally heard this song at a music museum and it’s the most lit keyboard song you will ever hear I guarantee it!!!
51. mountains or plains: mountains
52. favorite anime (or tv show if you don’t watch anime): Yuri on ice (of course), Death Note, Death Parade, Kuroko no Basket, Ouran High School Host Club, and Erased. (sorry couldn’t pick just one!)
53. which social media platform are you most like yourself on: Tumblr in terms of personality I suppose, but since I try to not post everything about my life on here there are a lot of things missing that don’t really come through. I’d say facebook simply because almost everything about me is uploaded on there, by one person or another. I’ve had my facebook since I was in 7th grade, so it’s really documents my life almost. I’m not really into any other social media other than those two. So in conclusion, tumblr in terms of personality, facebook in terms of being able to open up more about my life.
54. What are some of your passions: I am in love with the brain. I think that it is akin to the deep ocean or the universe - there are so many things we do not understand about it. It also houses our personality, every thought, memory, emotion. Every little nuance that makes us human. Yet it really is just a collection of water, lipids, proteins, and neurotransmitters, yet somehow in all of that we have developed a complex sense of self. Are our personalities really separate entities, or are they just a complex construct that our advanced brains have superimposed to make sense of the chaotic word that we live in??? Basically I want to research some sort of neuroscience/biopsychology related field.
I also love genetics for similar reasons… I find it fascinating that some sort of elemental coding for our functioning lives inside us.
I’ve also found a new passion for writing as of late :)

Birthday Boy by Ren 1,106
Otabek lets slip that he never celebrates his birthdays. Yuri decides to fix that.
what hoodies are made of by pissedofsandwich 1,235
Let it be known that Yuri Plisetsky is killed by his first friend, and possibly, if given more time—and if he could just admit it deep down in his heart that yes, he has a crush on Otabek the size of St. Petersburg—his first boyfriend, during the exhibition gala of Trophee de France.
Oh, what’s the murder weapon, you ask?
The goddamn hoodie.
Or: Otabek dresses sexy for his EX Gala and Yuri loses his shit.

"When Victor was his age - younger, even, Yuri thinks, shame blooming in his chest - he’d made the whole world fall in love with him already. The long hair, the soft smile, the way he moved like he had a secret in his skin and he couldn't wait to share it with you. Yuri’s watched the tapes over and over. He could skate any of Victor’s early routines in his sleep. But he can't - the thing Victor could do so easily, the casual, guileless charisma he threw like a shadow - Yuri can't manage it on a single person, not even some moody Kazakh with a dumb haircut whose eyes are too far apart anyway - "

When Otabek's home rink is damaged in a fire, he and his coach get permission to train in Russia from Yakov. Yuuri and Victor offer their spare room to Otabek for the duration of his stay, and in doing so, Yuuri is given a front row look at Yurio coming to understand his feelings for his best friend, as well as the subsequent panic that ensues after he discovers his feelings aren't so 'friendly' after all.

magical realism au, where yuri is a tsar of ice (which, for the purpose of this fic, is almost a demigod, of sorts) and otabek is a very sad and musical young man who has moved to St. Petersburg to deal with the death of a friend.
it starts like:
Otabek moves to the outskirts of St. Petersburg and becomes friends with Yuri slowly and then suddenly, like ice sliding across a plate. How he meets Yuri goes like this: (a memory that retains the present tense, because it feels very much like a thing that is still happening to him, not a thing that is over)
by the nape of my neck by aphhun 5,499
Everyone has a counter that ticks down the hours until you first meet your Destined; your soul mate. Yuri Plisetsky has been actively ignoring his timer for the last eight years. That is, until it's dwindled down to zero behind his back, and he has no idea how or when he met his Destined in the bustle of St Petersburg
Fire Red by Qitana 7,813
The static reaches its peak before someone says, “Hello Mr Yuri Plisetsky.”
He’s different from the first person, of this Yuri is certain. He jolts slightly when the man pronounces his full name, and he finds an absurd amount of comfort in his voice. It’s soft and warm, with a stoniness that could rival Yakov’s and Lilia’s, and his accent makes it endearing as hell. A small flame slowly starts to burn inside of Yuri for reasons he can’t possibly fathom. It’s just a man’s voice, and a stranger’s to boot, but he feels significantly better already.
When Saving Fairies by Eshli 8,064
Otabek is a knight to the Kingdom of Kazakhstan. He winds up saving a fairy from a tough spot, taking love advice from a total idiot, and losing his virginity in an unsuspecting way. Such is the life of the Hero of Kazakhstan.

Yuri's heat happens to take him by surprise the day before a competition, even though those stupid suppressants were supposed to take care of that. He'll head to the medical wing to take care of the problem, but what if he runs into someone else? He dreads anyone finding out about his being an Omega. Still, he's just fifteen, no one would be affected by his heat. He was just a kid.
It turns out, they hurt kids everywhere. It also turns out that Katsuki Yuuri is really fucking terrifying when he wants to be.

Just like during his first consultation, he doesn’t understand any of the medical jargon coming from the doctor’s mouth. Only now, after he’s done explaining everything in complicated, convulsed words, the man turns to Yuri with a smile on his face and explains everything once more, this time using terms Yuri can understand.
Yuri listens. He bites down on his bottom lip and he does not cry.

There are certain moments in Yuri Plisetsky’s life that he likes to forget happened at all. The time they were chased from the apartment, the landlord angrily spitting and waving threateningly at them when his mother couldn’t produce enough money for rent. Babushka’s funeral. The first time he fell in competition.
He cannot forget that, under the black band he wears around his wrist like a shield, his soulmark may as well be nonexistent.

2020 Video Workflow
Video
I now shoot with my iPhone 11 Pro, which simplifies things greatly. When shooting a presentation where I’m stationery, I use a mini pod I carry in my backpack. If possible, I sit right behind the projector and set up the mini pod on the projector, assuring me that there will be a clear view of the screen & the presenter. It also is a good bet that I’ll be able to find an outlet so I can keep the phone charged.
Audio
With a camera as good as this iPhone, the weak link is usually audio, although my iPhone X did better audio than my $150 Rode shotgun mic on my Nikon D610, which some consider a professional setup. And the iPhone 11 Pro is better, but the big problem for me is shooting outdoors and getting all the terrible wind noise on a breezy day. So I’ve just ordered a Shure MV88 iPhone mic, which some regard as the best, and a Movo “dead cat” windscreen. I’ll post later how this works out.
Gimbal
I have an Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal, which is highly rated for good reason. It’s just persnickety because you have to do everything in just the right sequence. I’m doing this workflow in large part to document that sequence so I can look it up later:
Be sure to keep it charged, as it takes easily 2 hours to fully charge.
Attach the phone with the gimbal turned off because you’ll need to balance it and it’ll fight you if it’s on, and you won’t get a true balance. Follow the instructions, which basically tell you to adjust the phone with it hanging with the face looking straight down at the floor so it’s flat top-to-bottom and side-to-side.
Unlock your phone.
Power the gimbal on by holding the power button for several seconds until it snaps to attention.
Here’s a tricky part: we actually have two Osmos, one for me and one for Wanda, as she has begun filming with me at CNU each year. I thought I could pair either one with my phone, so I began trying a few days ago to get one of them to work, but the phone would never recognize it. Finally, I decided to try the other one and got it to work. Apparently the gimbal has retained a memory of my phone or vice versa, even though this is the first time I’ve used the gimbal with this phone. In any case, go into Bluetooth on the phone and make sure the gimbal’s connected. Then go to the DJI GO app which is the software of the Osmo and so long Bluetooth is seeing your gimbal, you should be able to click on Connect Your Device after the opening screen goes away.
Once it’s connected, it opens the DJI camera window on your phone. This is important: to get full functionality, shoot from here, not from the default Camera app. The red button on the gimbal is the shutter button; on the left of the screen you’ll see a toggle between video & single shots. The zoom button is on the left, so a right-handed person can easily do everything with just their right hand.
Once you’re done shooting, you need to get the video & single shots off DJI and into Photos. To do this, first power off the gimbal and take your phone out. Then go back to the DJI app and go to Editor, at the bottom menu bar. Click on each video, then the download icon in the lower left corner. Click Save video to your device, which puts the video in Photos. Now you’re ready to move on to post-production.
Post-Production
Here’s how I do post-production on the video itself. I do everything on a Mac, so all the terms used here are Mac terms, and I’ve capitalized them for clarity.
I have an Album in Photos called Movies which filters out everything except movies, so it makes it really easy to focus. This is very important because if I had to sort through the many thousands of photos to find the movies, I would surely miss some of them.
Select the new clips to bring into iMovie and drag them to the Desktop. This will make a copy on the Desktop but leave the original in Photos. if you try to drag them directly into iMovie it’ll just get the opening frame as a still photo. I don’t know why; that’s just the way it works. IMPORTANT: for some reason, if you try to drag 30 or more clips, it can take close to a half-hour to complete, so only drag 3-5 at once and you’ll get done much faster. For some reason, dragging a lot at once chokes it down.
Open iMovie then Open Library to select the Library you want to work in. Because movies take up so much space, I do all my movie work on an external 4TB LaCie Rugged drive. I have two libraries on this drive: one for movies I’m working on, and the other for the completed movies.
In iMovie there are two main windows: Media & Projects. Toggle between them at the very top. To bring in new clips, click the Media button.
The far left column of the iMovie window is the Libraries window. Click on the current year. Then File>New Event or Option-N. Name this event for the clips you’re about to bring in.
Drag the movies on the Desktop into the new Event.
Click Projects, then click the template you want to use and duplicate it and rename it for the new movie. I keep a template for every type of movie I create, so I don’t have to do it from scratch every time.
Open the new Project by double-clicking, which takes you to the project window where you’ll build the new movie. Drag the clips you want into the Project, being sure to “snug them up” to the template’s opening clip so the cross dissolve between the template’s opening & closing clip goes between the clips you’re dragging in and the closing clip.
I have a 4-second opening title and a 5.5-second closing title, which begins in the last 1.5 seconds of the last imported clip then fades to a Gradient screen in the last 4 seconds. The opening title is in the template over the template’s opening clip, but that’s just a placeholder because the title is meant to start at the beginning of the first clip, so drag the title to the beginning of the first imported clip and delete the template’s opening clip.
If there’s more than one imported clip, insert transitions between them. I use Cross Dissolve because it’s simple & doesn’t call attention to itself because my videos are all about content.
Trim clips for a smooth transition. To do this, you’ll need to find the little slider at the center right of the window just left of Settings and slide it pretty much all the way out to the right to stretch the clips so you can trim to exactly the right place. This used be a bit tedious when filming a presentation with my Nikon D610 because it would only let you get 20 minutes of video at a time, so I’d have to edit back to the last complete sentence the speaker said on the early side of the transition, then to the beginning of the first complete sentence on the late side. Now, however, because the iPhone has no such limitation (except for total storage space) I don’t have to worry about that anymore on a single event. So the only transitions I have are when I film several different clips and stitch them together. In that case, if I’m explaining something, I just be sure to leave a second or two of silence at the beginning and the end, which makes it really easy to trim properly. To do precise
Click on each clip, then make modifications. I used to use the Cartoon clip filter because it makes the images soft, vibrant, and romantic, but a lot of people complained so I’ve decided to use no clip filters at all. Now, I only make two modifications: under the Volume icon I click Auto, and under the Equalizer icon I click Reduce Background Noise and leave it set to the default (50%) and select Voice Enhance under Equalizer.
The movie should now be ready to share. But sharing is a space-hogging process, so before you do, make sure you’ve deleted all the videos you copied to the Desktop, and empty the trash can. If the share fails, you might even restart your Mac and then only open iMovie. I use Clean My Mac, and run that before sharing as well.
There’s an option in File>Share to share directly to YouTube, but don’t do that. It always fails. It seems that really short clips (like my 4-second closing clip) might be the problem. So I share to a file and then upload the file to YouTube (more on that later) which has the added benefit of letting me share that file directly to any other site that might not play well with YouTube, either now or in the future.
In File>Share I write a Description that includes not only the story I’m telling, but also where the video was shot in case someone is searching for videos on a place or building. I give it one Tag such as “urbanism” because tagging is easier in YouTube. Format is Video and Audio, Resolution is 1080p (which is HD), Quality is High, and Compress is Faster.
Click Next, which will take you to a window where you tell iMovie where to put the movie. On my external drive, I have two folders: movies to upload, and uploaded movies. In the movies to upload folder, create a new folder with the name of the movie and click Save.
My title fades in and out at the beginning which is a nice effect, but that means the first frame has no title. Thankfully, YouTube allows you to assign a “thumbnail.” So once the movie has been created, open it (it’ll come up in QuickTime Player) and run off a second or so until the title has fully faded in. Edit>Copy, go to Photoshop, create a new file the size of the clipboard, and paste. Merge Down (Command-E) then Save for Web (Command-Shift-Option-S) in the same folder as the movie using the name of the movie plus title, so the Civic Gift to the Street movie would have a title shot named Civic-Gift-to-the-Street-title.jpg.
YouTube
You’re now ready to post to YouTube, but first a bit of background. I don’t know why Google makes things so difficult to find, so I’m adding this to remind myself how to get back to it whenever I have long gaps between posting videos. Three years ago, I consolidated all my Google stuff under one email address when they finally created “Brand Accounts.” Previously, I needed one email address for my Original Green content, another for Mouzon Design content, etc. Now, I’m putting up new videos on the Original Green channel but spent hours day before yesterday unsuccessfully trying to figure out how to actually manage the channel rather than just viewing it. I just discovered what I was missing: Under my avatar (my head shot) for my Google account, if I pull down to Switch Accounts, it’ll let me choose any of my other brand accounts. I had seen it but assumed it meant go to an entirely different accounts, like when I had multiple accounts on different email addresses. Once I’m signed in as the Original Green Brand on the Original Green Channel, I do the following:
Go to studio.youtube.com.
Click Upload Video and select your movie file. This will open the window where you can add details about the file. For some reason, YouTube doesn’t pick up the description I wrote in the Share step, so I have to rewrite it.
Just below that is a frame you can click to upload your thumbnail, or title image as it’s called above.
Next is the Playlists window, where you can add it to an existing Playlist or create a new one.
Under Audience, click No, it’s not made for kids. Then under Advanced, do the following:
No, don’t restrict my video to viewers over 18 only.
I don’t do paid promotion.
Tags can help people find videos, so add the obvious ones, including the title of the video plus others like “urbanism,” “New Urbanism,” etc.
Enter the recording date & location.
The category of all my videos is Howto & Style.
I don’t currently add end screens or cards because I don’t know anything about them.
On the next screen I Publish as Public.
Repost & Promote
That’s it! Except to post the video to Twitter, Facebook, and your other New Media nodes.

Wednesday Wait Loss 157
Welcome to Wednesday Wait Loss, where you can share photos of the quilt projects you’re working on and get encouragement to finish them from our Wednesday Wait Loss group!
First let me tell you what I've been up to
Last week I worked on my challenge for January at work, which was to cut the panels for my Dragon quilt and add the borders.
Over the weekend I also worked on my February Island Batik challenge which will debut during the Log Cabin Blog Hop that starts next week. Be sure to come back on Monday for the hop schedule so you can visit each Ambassador, see the latest batiks, and enter their giveaways! My quilt will be made using the Jewel Box collection, arriving in stores soon!
On Monday, I shared my goals for February and reviewed how I did with my January goals. Not too bad, as you’ll learn when you read my post.
Well, that was my week!
Now let’s see who made this week’s feature
This week I’d like to focus on finished quilts and meeting goals.
First up is Jan @ Cocoa Quilts who finished this amazing stamp quilt top which was also her OMG (One Monthly Goal).
Next, Melva @ Melva Loves Scraps shared her Color Challenge quilt which is all finished!
Marti @ Plain Stitches finished her blocks from a 2005 BOM and is now considering layouts. Good job at finishing a long WIP! Marti also organized her goals for the week.
Andrea @ Mouse in My Pocket finished this lovely Baby Communique quilt. Love the bright colors!
Turid @ Den Syende Himmel completed her blocks for the Bea et Cecile quilt along for this month. Great job on meeting that goal!
Marsha @ Marsha’s Spot finished this lovely Color Challenge quilt top.
Karrin @ Karrin’s Crazy World finished a drEAMI quilt (Drop Everything and Make It), and made progress on several other projects. Way to go!
Nancy @ Grace and Peace Quilting also finished a drEAMI quilt just in time for Valentine’s. So sweet!

Important note about this week!
This year I’m making the first Wednesday Wait Loss linky of the month all about goals.
So take a photo of a project you’d like to work on and maybe finish this month and link it up! Then the rest of us will visit your blog/Facebook/Instagram and leave a comment encouraging you to finish. For those of you uploading a photo direct from your computer or phone, please leave a comment here explaining your project and we’ll leave a comment encouraging you to get ‘er done!
Each month at work, we choose a random number on our project list and do that project. This year, I’ve got 3 projects broken down into monthly tasks so I’ll be jumping around between these three projects as my “must do.” For February, I’m working on my Heartbeat quilt.
Remember!
By linking up, you give me permission to grab a photo or two to share here on Wednesday Wait Loss.
This linky is all about encouragement, so BE SURE TO LEAVE COMMENTS!
If you’re uploading a photo from your phone/computer,don’t forget to leave a comment below that explains your project. And for the rest of us, please reply to a few of these comments leaving words of encouragement for a quick finish.

|| Thinking about Kamski with a mug like this every morning:
Tumblr media
He got it from Gavin.
They had heavy arguments in the past and had a falling out for about eight years, but because of a certain android (Nines) who picked up on Reed's emotional state when Kamski was mentioned, they decided to make up after so long (after enduring tons of pressure applied by aforementioned android).
This mug is the first gift Reed had given him for "bah humbug" Christmas (which they both hate for personal reasons).
Elijah complains about it, saying it's silly, childish, and stupid, but every android in his home knows he loves it.

The Photo Management App You Need for Your Next Trip
My camera roll is a polluted ocean. For one, it’s a deep abyss full of too much garbage—accidental screenshots of my alarm clock when I mean to hit snooze, one too many selfies of sunburns and a heap of unsolicited Air Drop bombs from bored strangers on long-haul bus rides.
But deep in the rolling tides of my photo albums are also some hidden gems—the precious pearls and brilliant corals and iridescent seashells that are my cherished memories.
I typically save these photos in my Favorites album so I can find them without doing too much digging through years of travel.
It’s the album I whip out when I meet a new friend in a hostel discussing our shared experience running from rogue monkeys in Ubud, Bali. And it’s the album I open up when my friends back home refuse to believe that I really did eat a scorpion that one time in Cambodia and went scuba diving with menacing, toothy eels in Honduras.
But even my Favorites album is a disorderly muddle of photos from years of traveling all over the world. The last 10 items in that album make just about zero sense:
A blurry photo of me dancing with a mosh of strangers at Nos Alive music festival in Lisbon, Portugal.
A screenshot of my license that was in my stolen wallet in Barcelona.
A portrait of me sitting on a sailboat on Lake Titicaca in Bolivia.
An action shot of me sand-boarding down the dunes at sunset in Huacachina, Peru.
An exciting sighting of a blue-footed booby in the Galápagos.
An incredibly awkward photo of me nervously feeding a llama in the middle of the world along Ecuador’s equator.
An admittedly deceptive shot of me surfing in Costa Rica.
A favorite snap summiting Volcán Acatenango in Guatemala.
A selfie showing off my totally phallic-shaped henna tattoo in Udaipur, India.
An aerial view of Cappadocia, Turkey’s fairy chimneys from a hot air balloon.
What I need to better organize my travel memories is an app that can do it all for me.
Enter: Mylio.
Mylio is the free photo organizer every traveler needs. It works for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, and it manages all of your photos and files from all of your devices and online services like Facebook and Flickr.
It’s more than just an organizational tool, however. The app boasts a number of impressive features that help me to organize, edit and access my safely stored photos.
Mylio works on all devices.
1. Organize Your Photos in Various Ways
I’m the kind of person who remembers my life in terms of countries perhaps more than dates. You’ll often hear me saying something along the lines of, “The last time I got a vaccine was Thailand,” instead of “The last time I got a vaccine was in January.” Or, “I haven’t talked to that friend since Colombia, so maybe I should reach out,” instead of “I haven’t talked to that friend in six months, so maybe I should reach out.”
Since I started traveling full time, my brain just operates in country-chunked memories rather than chronological time. As such, being able to organize my photos on a map makes it a lot easier to find specific ones.
Mylio’s map is intuitive and elegant; photos are grouped by location with a pin that shows how many photos were taken in each place. You can zoom into the map using pinch-in and pinch-out on touchscreens or use the plus and minus signs in the bottom right corner of the map. As you zoom in, Mylio separates your photos into more defined pins, allowing you to better see where each set of photos was taken.
You can also utilize Mylio’s search from within Map view to find a specific location. For instance, you can type “Bermuda” in Mylio’s search bar to automatically be taken to the island of Bermuda and shown the photos taken there.
Mylio’s map view
Of course, in Mylio, you can also organize your photos by date, so if you do think in terms of months or years, you’ll be able to go back to specific times and find your photos.
Likewise, Mylio allows you to organize by faces/people, folders/events and tags/flags/stars. When you want to see all your photos of a friend or family member, simply type in that person’s name, and Mylio will show a custom album of that person.
You also have the option of organizing photos into folders or events, which is another way Mylio makes it easy to find a particular photo.
And of course you can use the search filter to find specific photos, as well. Overall, if you’ve ever felt like you’re drowning in photos, Mylio is a ready-made and free lifesaver!
Another huge Mylio bonus is that migration is seamless. If you’ve spent a fair chunk of time organizing your photos, the thought of moving to a new photo management system can be daunting. Luckily, Mylio migrates not only your photos but also the folder structure you have them in. That way, all the sorting you’ve already done comes with you!
2. Edit Your Travel Photos without Being a Professional Content Creator
Mylio makes any traveler look like a content creator. And if you want to show off the best of your travels, you know the importance of editing photos before uploading or sharing. Using Mylio’s editing tools, you can crop, rotate and straighten your photos to highlight what matters.
And what’s more, the edits you make to a photo on one device are automatically made on all your other devices! So if you crop a photo on your phone, the same crop will already have been made when you next get on your tablet or computer.
You can also apply and/or change presets, as well as use editing controls. You can even batch edit multiple photos at once to give them some uniformity. The tools range from one-tap filters to precision treatment sliders.
Editing photos with Mylio
Mylio also makes rating a fun and fast process with its auto-advance feature, which automatically moves on to the next picture after you rate each photo so you can rate as efficiently as possible!
And, if you ever need a specific tool that Mylio doesn’t offer, you can send your images to another editor to make those changes for you. And once they’re saved back to Mylio, Mylio will automatically pick up those edits and sync them between all of your devices.
As you’re probably starting to see, Mylio makes photo management easy across multiple platforms and devices.
3. Access Your Photos Any Time, Anywhere
As a traveler, I’m busy wiping out on electric scooters down cobblestoned alleyways and navigating rivers snaking through jungles by canoe. I spend my time living in the moment, and seldom have time to be editing photos from my past.
That said, I’ve been on enough long-haul buses and overnight trains to know that the WiFi never works like it’s advertised. And when I’m not journaling during those journeys, it’s an ideal time for me to catch up on editing photos. Except that too many of my photos are stuck in the cloud, and I usually need WiFi to access and sync them.
With Mylio, you can access and sync your photos any time, anywhere. Unlike cloud-based services, all your pictures are on all your machines, so they are always with you. You can view them on any device, with or without internet. That means you can efficiently use your travel time and make the most of your adventure time!
In the background, Mylio’s smart software frees up space on your phone by distributing your photo originals across your devices (like laptops and tablets) that have more storage space.
Access Mylio anywhere, anytime.
4. Rest Assured That Your Photos are Safe
Mylio is not a cloud service. Rather, Mylio utilizes the storage on the devices that you already own to keep copies of your files. You can also designate a device with a lot of storage space as a Vault; a Vault (ideally a computer or external drive) will automatically store your original, full-sized files so you can free up even more space on your smaller devices.
For added protection, Mylio can also integrate with some cloud providers to use their storage as Vaults, too. This ensures an offsite copy of your files that you can use to restore your library in case something happens to one of your travel devices.
If you do indeed choose to use the cloud as an added layer of protection, you can encrypt your images. This will ensure that your data is not available to anyone with unauthorized access to your cloud service.
So whether you’re planning to island hop around Laos’ 4,000 Islands or taking a food tour across Italy, Mylio is there to help you at every stage of your photo journey. And you can rest assured that you’ll be able to easily edit, organize, and share those cannoli pics like a seasoned foodie.
