Usb serial controller d for mac
Tumblr media
They're simply tools that allowed me to get where I needed to be, and ended hours of failure and frustration. These are not intended as "commercial endorsements" I have absolutely no financial stake in either. If it is relevant, I have a MacBook Pro 2016 which means that I have USB-to-serial adapter which is plugged in into a USB-c-to-USB adapter.Ī late entry to this question, but hopefully this will help someone:įor serial comms using a late-model Mac, my experience is that there are two things you should know: What is the reason why I cannot find the device as mentioned in the instructions and how can I use the build-in tools to open a serial connection without 3rd party software? I want to open the serial port with the build in screen command preferably ( screen ). Strangely, when I try to connect to the switch via Serial App, I can see the USB serial port and it works perfectly to connect to the switch which means that the USB-to-serial device works fine generally. When I change the modem to a "Null modem", set the baud to 9600 and try to connect, a popup appears that says that my device is not available. respectively), which means, that I am not able to find a serial device which is associated with the usb port.Īfter the installation of the driver I had a "USB serial controller" in my network settings. The ls /dev/*usb* command does not return a result at all. I tried to follow several instructions such as this one or the installation instructions in the ZIP-archive of this driver but none of this worked.Īfter the installation of the mentioned driver of my device, all of the instructions I found asked me to use the ls /dev/tty.*, ls /dev/*usb* or the ls /dev/cu.* command to find out the device which is associated with the usb port. I have a Belkin F5U103V USB-to-serial adapter and want to connect to a HP ProCurve switch. Here you may configure additional settings of COM port.I try to establish a serial connection with my MacBook (High Sierra 10.13.1) and need help. In the Device Manager window please expand Ports (COM & LPT) menu -> choose desired COM port -> right-click on it and enter Properties. For Windows please hit Win(Cmd)+R hotkey -> in Run window type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter/Return. Launch the virtual machine and configure device in guest operating system. You will be able to locate the file in the next window. Select this option to connect the virtual machine's serial port to an output file. Socket is able to work in two modes: as a server or as a client. Select this option to create and connect the virtual machine's serial port to a socket of the physical computer. Select this option to connect the virtual machine's serial port to the serial port of the physical computer.
Tumblr media
All Bluetooth stacks on computers appear to support the COM profile. That’s the profile these Bluetooth serial adapters speak. NOTE: Bluetooth supports many “profiles” for doing various things (phone headset, address book syncing, file exchange, etc.) One of these profiles is the “COM” profile and is a simple serial port: raw binary data transmit and receive. NOTE: Select port before starting virtual machine. Now you need to choose a source for COM port: Open virtual machine's configuration menu -> go to Hardware tab -> click on '+' -> add Serial Port.
Tumblr media
I want to debug my virtual machine and I need to send debug output via COM port to the text file.
I have a complicated device (like multiport controller, radio transmitter, JTAG etc.) and I am trying to connect it to Windows virtual machine.

Compare two columns in excel and return differences

#Compare two columns in excel and return differences update
#Compare two columns in excel and return differences code
#Compare two columns in excel and return differences update
I am in the middle of taking it out and prepping it for deployment as it was bought as a spare, and a switch is failing calling for it to be replaced. I have configured it but I want to update the firmware. I have a HP Procurve 2920 Switch (Bought 2010). Will my HP Procurve Take Aruba firmware? Hardware. It is provided as an example and a starting point for your development.
#Compare two columns in excel and return differences code
This is Air Code - I have neither compiled nor tested it. Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) Why did I write this as a separate procedure (rather than, for example, the Worksheet_Change event procedure on the worksheet)? Well, we want to call this procedure whenever something changes on either worksheet so we can share this procedure by coding each worksheet's Worksheet_Change event procedure like this: You can use the Worksheet.Change event to call this procedure. So, when should this procedure be called? I would suggest calling it every time any value on either of the two worksheets changes. ' the colors in case the row was marked asįirstSheet.Range(Cells(index1, 1), Cells(index1, 4)).Interior.Color = vbWhiteįirstSheet.Range(Cells(index1, 1), Cells(index1, 4)).Font.Color = vbBlackįirstSheet.Range(Cells(index1, 1), Cells(index1, 4)).Interior.Color = vbYellowįirstSheet.Range(Cells(index1, 1), Cells(index1, 4)).Font.Color = vbRed ' the two sheets change, so we need to RESET ' to be called repeatedly as the values on ' (We do this because we expect this procedure ' If we DIDN'T find a match, we want to mark ' We've found a row on the second sheet that & secondSheet.Cells(index2, SECONDCOLUMN2) SecondValue = secondSheet.Cells(index2, FIRSTCOLUMN2) _ ' Loop through the rows on the second sheet ' Keep track of whether we've found a match & firstSheet.Cells(index1, SECONDCOLUMN1) ' For each row, concatenate the values from the two cellsįirstValue = firstSheet.Cells(index1, FIRSTCOLUMN1) _ ' Loop through the rows on the first worksheet Set secondSheet = ActiveWorkbook.Sheets(secondSheetName) Set firstSheet = ActiveWorkbook.Sheets(firstSheetName) Public Sub CompareSheets(firstSheetName As String, secondSheetName As String) The procedure looks like this:Ĭonst FIRSTCOLUMN1 As Integer = 2 'Column BĬonst SECONDCOLUMN1 As Integer = 3 'Column CĬonst FIRSTCOLUMN2 As Integer = 1 'Column AĬonst SECONDCOLUMN2 As Integer = 3 'Column C Whenever a row on the first sheet fails to have a match somewhere on the second sheet, this procedure will change the colors of the row to make its error status visible. I've put together some code that will perform this process. The procedure (I prefer not to use the term "macro" because in Excel that can, and should, refer to an MS Excel 4.0 Macro, which is a completely different and much uglier beast) will need to have two nested loops: an outer loop to scan the rows on the first sheet, and an inner loop to scan the rows on the second sheet. You have correctly concluded that you will need to use VBA to fulfill your requirements. However, let's ignore that and try to come up with an answer to your question. As John has pointed out, this thread is in the wrong forum - it should be in the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) forum ( http:/ / / groups/ technical-functional/ vb-vba-l) rather than the SQL Server forum ( http:/ / / groups/ technical-functional/ sql-server-l).

How do I know what HP switch I have?
Tumblr media
Users can use a couple of different methods to determine the current software revision of a ProCurve Switch:  1. Launch the Web UI of the Switch, and look for the Version: located within the contents of the Identity tab. 2. Via a Telnet or serial console session, issue one of these two commands from within the CLI. HP jl581a Switch Module.

Visio electrical stencils are great for your projects. Have you ever tried to find some even more budget alternatives? Here we gonna check out some of the key Visio electrical stencils alternatives.
Basic Visio Electrical Stencils Alternatives
Tumblr media
This category includes all the essential icons for a simple electronic program, or for educational purposes. You can find some elements like the Battery, the Fuse in different types, and the Contact etc. Feel free to drag and drop any of them from the built-in resources library to the drawing canvas.
Semiconductor Devices
These Visio electrical stencils alternatives are especially for representing various kinds of Transistors, Gates, Diode and more. More common types of semiconductors are the three-terminal, or four-terminal devices.
Visio Electrical Stencils Alternatives to Trans Path
Hp Switch Visio Stencils
This part is normally used to offer a dedicated linking medium between communication units on a tractor and trailer. In this case, usually, a line goes along the length of the air brake hose to the other unit. A good quality transmission path would secure quality waveform.
Transformers and Windings
This section represents some other electrical transformation elements based on more combinations of curved lines. Such Visio electrical stencils alternatives are usually used for the design of winding transformers, which are linked to voltage items.
Analog and Digital Logic
Analog and Digital are two different electrical logic levels for showing the high or the low voltages. Probably, the most significant difference between Analog and Digital are waves. Analog normally has continuous and smooth waves, while the waves of Digital are discrete. Find out more Visio electrical stencils alternatives to these two types in the below image.
Other Electrical Symbols
Apart from the above ones, there are many more icons of the electrical engineering. For example, the Maps and Charts category has many symbols for radio stations, portable stations, or mobile stations etc.

RANCID - Really Awesome New Cisco confIg Differ
RANCID monitors a router's (or more generally a device's) configuration, including software and hardware (cards, serial numbers, etc) and uses CVS (Concurrent Version System), Subversion or Git to maintain history of changes.
RANCID does this by the very simple process summarized as:
login to each device in the router table (router.db),
run various commands to get the information that will be saved,
cook the output; re-format, remove oscillating or incrementing data,
email any differences (sample) from the previous collection to a mail list,
and finally commit those changes to the revision control system
RANCID also includes looking glass software. It is based on Ed Kern's looking glass which was once used for http://nitrous.digex.net/, for the old-school folks who remember it. Our version has added functions, supports cisco, juniper, and foundry and uses the login scripts that come with rancid; so it can use telnet or ssh to connect to your devices(s).
Rancid currently supports Allied Telesis switches running AW+, Cisco routers, Juniper routers, Catalyst switches, Foundry switches (now Brocade), Redback NASs, ADC EZT3 muxes, MRTd (and thus likely IRRd), Alteon switches, and HP Procurve switches and a host of others.
Rancid is known to be used at: AOL, Global Crossing, MFN, NTT America, Certainty Solutions Inc.
The current version is 3.9. Read the CHANGES file for differences since the previous version.
NOTE: For rancid >= 2.3, you must use expect >= 5.40. Versions prior to this appear to have a regex handling bug that affects the ability of clogin to parse CLI prompts.
NOTE: The expect source available in the rancid ftp area has been patched for a bug that affects Linux and Solaris. The Tcl source is the mate to the supplied version of expect. See the O/S-specific section.

Some folks seem to like "testimonials", so here's my favorite one:
...I have noticed a behaviour change since implementing RANCID. The entire NOC team gets an email when a config change is made. The result is everyone is cautious about making changes on the fly, and any changes that are made are quickly explained by the changer. Before, changes would be made and if it broke something.....silence. So, at the very least we have fewer **problems** that magically appear. -- Jason Lewis

It's really cool to learn what these tech giants are using for their ultra speed network. Facebook, Google, Big Switch Demo Network Operating Systems Built on Open Hardware https://buff.ly/2FbBq88 Facebook, Google, and Big Switch Networks at this week’s Open Compute Project (OCP) Summit will demonstrate three approaches to network operating systems all built with Open Network Linux (ONL) and all running on OCP switch hardware. ONL is a Linux distribution for bare metal switches. It’s one of OCP’s several open hardware projects and is available on 68 different hardware platforms. "ONL is increasingly becoming the de facto standard for switch hardware platform-level code,” Forster wrote in an email to SDxCentral. “With this demo, it is now public that it is getting used in Facebook’s FBOSS and Google’s Stratum projects, the largest end-user open source network projects in the industry.” . . . . . . . . . #facebook #google #bigswitch #networking #routing #opencompute #ocp #linux #opennetworklinux #onl #barematal #networkswitch #switches #hardware #forster #sdxcentral #fboos #startum #opensource #hp #dell #cisco #procurve #dellswitch #ciscoswitch #routingswitching #networkswitching #networkrouter https://ift.tt/2I2pPxu

When will we consider to buy a managed fanless Gigabit switch 24-port or Less? Common situations where we use fanless Gigabit managed switches are for small office connectivity or for home lab upgrading. In these occasions, we pursue the speed of Gigabit because they can improve the end user experience or enhance work efficiency. At the same time, we require the machine to cause low noise so users in these environments will not be disturbed. As for the management functions, different people want different levels of managing of their network. But in overall managing a fanless Gigabit switch 24-port or less is not expected to be as complex as managing an fully-managed switches. Otherwise, the user experience will not be enhanced but in contrary be decreased. This post will recommend some easily managed 8-24 ports fanless Gigabit switches. For more information of whether to choose a fanless switch or with fan switch, please read the post Should You Buy a Fanless Switch or Switch With Fan?

Recommend Managed Fanless Gigabit Switch 24-Port or Less
A fanless switch usually will not be more than 24 ports. When a switch has more than 24 ports, for example, in a 48-port switch the power supply has to be big enough and there are many ships inside the box, if there’s no fans the air flow might become a problem. So the fanless Gigabit managed switches that we’re going to recommend will be 24-port or less. And they are all non-PoE switches.
Managed Fanless Gigabit Switch 24-Port
There are many fanless Gigabit switches that are 24-port in the market, and the five models that we’re going to recommend are from four brands. They are HP Procurve 1800-24G, 1810-24G smart-managed Gigabit switch, Cisco Catalyst 2960XR-24TS-I 24-port fanless Gigabit switch, FS S2800-24T4F fanless 24-port Gigabit managed switch and Zyxel GS1900-24 smart managed switch.
Tumblr media
They have some characteristics in common that make them suitable for being used in places like home office and small office. The similarities of them include low power consumption and Gigabit fiber uplink ports. And of course the most important property is that they are silent in operation.
Another key factor that makes these five switches qualified in the managed fanless Gigabit switch 24-port list is their management function. These five switches are all managed switch that provide full layer 2 traffic management features and simple network management via Web GUI.
Cost-wise the HP 1800-24G, HP 1810-24G, FS S2800-24T4F and Zyxel G1900-24 are all good choices. The Cisco Catalyst 2960XR-24TS-I will cost more than the other four but it surely provides more some more advanced features belonging to layer 3. If we need stronger data transferring capability, Cisco Catalyst 2960XR-24TS-I is a good choice considering its backplane and forwarding rate.
In terms of the power consumption, we can notice that among them the two switch models FS S2800-24T4F and Zyxel G1900-24 consumes up to 20W power, while the FS S2800-24T4F provides two more combo Gigabit SFP/RJ45 ports for up-linking. The cost of buying a brand new fanless Gigabit switch 24-port FS S2800-24T4F or a Zyxel G1900-24 is near, too.

Managed Fanless Gigabit Switch 8/12-Port
If we have only a few devices to be connected to a fanless switch, then we can take 8/12-port fanless Gigabit switch into consideration. There are some good 8-port or 12-port fanless Gigabit managed switches popularly used by end users as well.
The HP 1800-8G and HP 1810-8G are two 8-port fanless Gigabit switches. They both have 8 10/100/1000BASE-T ports. They are cost-effective fanless switches if we do not require CLI management, STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) or other advanced management features. The HP 1800-8G/1810-8G has a switch capacity of 16 Gb/s and a forwarding rate of 11.9 Mpps. The maximum power rating of HP1800-8G is 18W and the HP 1810-8G is 15W. Another two 8-port fanless Gigabit switches of Cisco 2960 and 2960G are also favorable options. They are the Cisco WS-C2960G-8TC-L and Cisco WS-C2960-8TC-L.
The 12-port fanless Gigabit switch we want to recommend is Juniper EX2200-C12T-2G. It is a fanless Gigabit switch with 12 10/100/100BASE-T ports and 2 combo Gigabit SFP/RJ45 uplink ports. It is in standard 1RU package and the maximum power consumption is 30 W. In addition to all the layer 2 features, it also provides static routing.
Conclusion
Fanless Gigabit switch 24-port or less is best for use in environments that require low noise and Gigabit speed. And fanless Gigabit switch managed is a wise choice for users because it provides beneficial traffic control and network management ability.
