36- Finally Defeating the Hollow
Tumblr media
Part 37
Family is More than Blood
@secretdreamlandmentality
Klaus’s pov
Our entire group was confused including the dead family members that were with us. None of us were prepared to find these people here inside of what you would call her mindscape I suppose. Stepping towards Josette I met her gaze. “Josette, I am not sure why exactly we are seeing you right now.”
“Is it because of Kai?” Uncle Joshua asked, stepping up beside his daughter.
Alina crossed her arms over her chest. “He’s dead. Alaric and our mother killed him. But you can say this is entirely his fault.”
“What do you mean?” Liv asked with Luke looking confused like the rest of us.
Hope eyed her older cousins. “We placed this thing called the Hollow inside of his prison world. But he managed to escape and freed it with him. After he freed it he convinced a student at our school to attack our mother when the Hollow’s magic was inside of her.”
“Mom destroyed the person who had the dark magic but now it’s changing her. She tried to take the magic from everyone in our supernatural school. Which is something she’d never do.” Missy added on to what her sister had said.
Josette covers her mouth with her hand. “Oh geez. She consumed dark magic like last time.” I stared at her remembering when my wife had gone and asked for her aid first. She knew more about this or maybe just as much as I did.
“What the hell is happening to my daughter, Klaus. You made a promise to me that you would protect her.” Eliza stomps up to me getting up in my face as much as possible.
I met her gaze hearing her heart rate increase even though she was technically dead even inside her daughter’s mind. “Calm down, Eliza. I thought we had handled it. This was not an intentional thing.”
“So what was the original plan before you found us apparently inside of Raelyn’s mind?” Luke asked looking at me then to the rest of the family.
Freya stepped up to my side declaring the plan that we had in mind. “The plan we came up with was to combine all of our magical abilities together. Raelyn currently has the dark magic in her controlling her consciousness. We will siphon it away and trap it in another prison world.”
“But if we’re seeing you all then that means we are inside the part of my sister's mind that she finds some joy in. Meaning we’re probably in the wrong spot.” Jacob said, holding Andrea’s hand in his.
Glancing over my shoulder and slightly turning my body back towards my brother in law. “What do you mean, Jacob?”
“I’m saying that we need to be looking for the section that has darkness. The parts of her mind that she keeps barred away. The parts that she wants to hide from herself. The parts that she’s fighting everyday. That’s what we need to be searching for.” He responded.
Joshua tapped his chin in thought. “The one thing I know she dreads is her memories of the Merge.”
“And the fear of losing her children.” Josette points out tucking hair behind her ear.
Davina tapped her foot and Valerie just watched from the sidelines. Freya came up to me seeing that I was lost in my own thoughts. If this was going into the darkness that Raelyn feared I knew the thing that triggered her the most. She was terrified to die because of the Merge. “I know what we’re looking for. We just need what Elijah referred to as his red door.”
“Well that’s great. Do you have any idea of what it could look like?” Valerie grumbled with her hands resting on her hips.
Throwing my head back I groaned wishing that this wasn’t so hard. I believed that I knew my wife more than I apparently did right now. She cared about her cousins, was afraid of accidentally killing them all after the merge and I was all of her firsts in our relationship. Yet her mind seemed to be more complicated if we needed to find where she kept all of her darkest secrets and fears hidden away. I was at a complete bloody loss on the matter. “Jacob, you’re her twin brother. What would she imagine if she wanted to hide things away?”
“Don’t put me on the spot or anything, Klaus.” The male heretic huffed, slumping his shoulders. He ran a hand through his curls in quick thought. “What about our childhood home? After we left there everything pretty much got screwed up.”
Davain began coughing and she covered her mouth with her. She drew it away showing us some blood. “Uh guys…something is going wrong.”
“Urgh!” Alina winced dropping down on her knees where Freya and I rushed over to her with Josette all in a moment of honor and worry.
Placing a hand on the side of her head I scanned her quickly knowing we couldn’t see any physical damage or any kind of injuries while inside her mothers mind. “Alina, what’s wrong sweetheart?”
“I….don’t…know.” She winced, holding her stomach gripping her belly with one hand.
Josette looked between me and my second daughter. “If she’s pregnant in her mindscape. How far along was she when you came in here?”
“I am nearing my due date. Do you think…I’m due now?” She asked the former doctor.
Josette slumped her shoulders. “I believe so. You need to leave here. And whoever else is feeling the effects of the spell. It’s slowly killing you by the amount of magic inside of Raelyn.”
“Davina, you and Alina need to leave now. Hope you go with them.” I declared sternly.
Hope stomps her foot. “I’m not going anywhere, dad. This is mom we are talking about!”
“Actually we might not have a choice here, Hope. All of us are linked to one another so if one of us leaves. We will all still be connected to your mother. Everyone except Klaus since he’s not a witch.” Valerie admitted with a weak expression.
Getting to my feet I could see it on my triplet daughter’s faces that this new plan sucked. But we didn’t have many options if we wanted to save their mother. “This wasn’t what we hoped. Yet we have no other options. You all have your part in siphoning the magic from her. I’ll find the door that we need and make her stop running from her fears.”
“Bring her home, brother.” Freya said while every witch grabbed hands disappearing from my vision.
Eliza placed a hand on my shoulder, sending me a soft smile. “Klaus, I’m sorry for panicking earlier. I just…when you see my daughter tell her that we are all proud of her.”
“I am sorry for all the pain I put her through.” Joshua replied.
Josette grasps my hands in hers, sniffing through tears. “Klaus, tell Raelyn to watch out for my girls. I know you already have but let her know how much I appreciate it.”
“I will….Give me a sign, Raelyn. Show me the fire you need me to through with you.” I lifted my head up to the ceiling, closing my eyes. I heard something blow past me so when I opened my eyes once more I saw nothing but darkness around me. The darkness slightly lightened up showing me a tv tarp that you would play outside movies on. Stepping forward I didn’t quite understand what was happening until I noticed someone was sitting on the ground in front of it watching it silently. “Raelyn?”
“Klaus…it's all happening again. I…I can't face it.” She admitted looking over her shoulder seeing me standing there.
Sitting down beside her I lifted my eyes upwards to the screen figuring out what she meant by that. “Rae, what are you talking about?”
"Jacob!" She suddenly gasped, shooting up in a sitting position. My heart beating quick as my eyes flickered around the forest landing on my twin brother laying on his back. Rushing to her feet she dropped on her knees shaking him lightly trying to wake him up. "Jacob, Jacob. Come on wake up. Please wake up, Jacob." My father stepped up placing a hand on her shoulder making her whip her head up starting to cry. "Why - why won't he wake up dad - what's going on?"
Instead of responding he bends down removing the gemstone necklace from around his neck that he always wore, placing it in her hand. "You have won the Merge, Raelyn."
"He can't die, mother...He's my brother, my twin...I won't lose him!" Suddenly she winced feeling her mother draw magic from her, yanking me away from my brother. Stomping my boots in the dirt she started crying more out of such confusion. "Why would he - what the hell is the Merge, mother!"
She frustratedly runs her fingers through her hair, throwing her head back in agony. "It's a ritual that happens to twins born into our Coven. Since you and Jacob just turned 22 today that is the year to have the Merge...it's where you combine your strengths together...there can only be one winner."
Another memory flashed across the screen that I didn’t recognize, meaning it must have been during the time I was trapped in New Orleans with Marcel. Shifting my gaze to my wife I could see tears slipping down her face by now.
Jo took his other hand and began chanting. “Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus.”
Jo and Kai then began chanting together. “Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus.Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus.” Until Jo fell backwards and she saw a new image flash through our minds. Luke had knocked his sister out for a few minutes and declared to merge with his older brother.
Kai and Luke were chanting when she entered his mind again. “Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus-- “
Jo cried. “Luke, no!”
“Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus.” Kai and Luke fell backwards, unconscious with Jo crying out after she had woken up from the sleeping spell.
Joshua declared. “Luke is gone.” His gaze shifted to mine with a horrific look feeling what she had minutes ago.
Liv gasped looking between me and her father. “What? Rae, he can’t be serious.”
Clutching my eyes closed, the vision of Jacob collapsing in front of me flashed through my mind. Releasing my hands from fists sheshook my head sniffing through tears. “Liv I, I wish it wasn’t true. But Luke…he’s…”
Joshua finished my train of thought, still terrified. “I can feel it. He merged with Kai and Kai won. Luke is gone.”
“Rae, look at me. This isn’t real. It’s just the Hollow playing tricks on your mind.” Placing a hand on her shoulder she jumps slightly turning to face me. She had tears streaming down her face now.
She shakes her head sobbing. “Klaus, it’s all still real. It’s all up here…It’s still a part of me.”
“Rae, look at me.” I crawled in front of her cupping her face in my hands pressing my forehead against hers so she’d focus only on me and not the horrors she had haunting her at night. “I know that you feel like these nightmares are your fault. But they are not. These are just horrible things that happened to you.”
She gripped my forearms, shaking under all the stress. “I can’t push it all away, Nik. I can’t just push through what happened.” I didn’t need to turn around to know what the next memory was once I heard Alaric declaring his wedding vows.
Jo chuckled beginning her vows until Raelyn smelled blood, saw she stabbed through the stomach and her dress was red. “Oh, God. That's a tough act to follow. Here goes. Alaric Saltzman, you are…”
Alaric caught his soon to be wife collapsing into his arms. “Jo? Jo? Jo? Oh, my God. Jo? Jo? Jo?! Oh, God. No!”
She winced where Raelyn vamped from my seat, biting into her wrist drawing blood. “Aah! Aah!”
“Jo drink!” Shoving her wrist over her mouth she attempts to drink but she was losing too much blood too fast.
Alaric began crying, staring at me. “No! No, no, no, no.”
Suddenly before our eyes Kai appeared from being invisible standing beside Elena holding a bloody knife in his hand. “I was gonna wait till the "death do us part" bit, but it seemed a little on the nose.”
Raelyn shut her eyes tightly letting the tears fall down her face. She hugged her knees to her chest trying to bury her face into herself. “It’s all too much, Klaus! The Hollow won’t leave me alone unless I get it more magic. The nightmares….they’ll just keep haunting me.”
“Don’t worry about the Hollow. It’s being taken care of, I promise you.” Drawing my head back away from hers I wiped away fallen tears with my thumbs. I knew that she was horrified to let all the pain go away. “I need you to focus on my voice, focus on me being here with you, focus on nothing else but me.”
Raelyn grasped my shirt in her fists. “I can’t let this go….I can’t deal with it like this.”
“You’re not alone with these memories, Raelyn. I will be here for you through the good and the bad. You just need to let go…you need to let go of all the pain and accept the fact that they are gone.” I responded to her praying that she listened to me.
“They’re gone, Nik. They're ... .Jo….Liv….Luke…my mother all gone ... .even uncle Joshua. She buries her face into my chest heavily sobbing. Her fingers wrapped around the material and she remained so close to me as she could possibly manage.
I wrapped my arms around her just holding my wife closer to his chest. Running one hand through her hair I whispered into her ear. “Sssh Rae….I’m here.” Blinking through my own tears I held her close seeing the darkness disappear and I collapsed onto the floor with her too.
I gasped sharply seeing the stars above my head and I slowly sat upright. Frantically looking around the area I ran a hand through my hair seeing Raelyn laying on the ground. “Klaus, we’re just about to do the spell. Did you get her to open her mind?” Freya came rushing over bending down on a knee to me.
“I think so, Raelyn! Raelyn, please wake up. Please take up.” I scrambled to my feet hovering above her body over her sleeping form. I watched her eyes open and she gasped slowly taking in some breaths. “There you are, heretic queen.”
She lifted her hand up touching my face. “Nik…”
“She’s awake, Freya….you’re gonna be just fine honey.” I brushed her hair out of her face and she sniffed through tears right before the torches around us were lit up again.
Valerie came forward past the circle of sand and dropped herself onto a knee. She placed her hands on Raelyn’s chest focusing on her gaze when she started to panic about what was happening in the moment. “Raelyn, don’t panic now. This will save your life. You trust me don’t you?”
“Yes.” She croaked out.
Valerie looked back at the rest of our family. Alina was standing on the outside of the circle with Hayley. Jacob, Andrea, Hope, Davina, Freya, Lizzie, Josie and Missy were all now holding hands siphoning power from one another to be as strong enough to perform the spell. Valerie turned back around taking a breath chanting. “Phasmatos tribum, nas ex veras, radamis phasmatos ex sonos. Resustamen ex veram vatas. Radamis phasmatos ex sonos…”
Keeping my eyes trained on my wife I could see Valerie’s hands turning her chest red from the siphoning. She winced a couple of times before all of us saw a bright blue glow leaving her body. The source shot up into the sky. “Let’s go.” Scooping my wife up in my arms Valerie and I vamped over the barrier.
The Hollow’s blue magic raced around the barricade but it wasn’t going to hold it for long. Whipping my head around I looked at the witches needing to do something. “We need to trap it now.”
“We’re on it, dad…..Sanguinem filio, sanguinem effurgarex perpetuum. Sanguinem filio, sanguinem effurgarex perpetuum. Phesmatos filio, phesmatos effurgarex perpetuum!” Missy declared and the chanting began. The Hollow magic roared and tried fighting against them but the sky turned bright before there was a flash of light and we all saw it had disappeared.
Josie stepped forward catching the Ascendent in her hands. Raelyn held onto me for balance hearing someone cry out and she immediately went into motherly panic mode. “Alina! What is going on? Talk to me sweetheart.”
“Mom…it’s the baby.” Alina clutched her stomach, almost falling to her knees. I moved my attention to my daughter and saw liquid coming from between her legs. She started crying in a panic. “The baby’s coming.”

[Caption: gifs from The Vampire Diaries. Valerie makes a spell to locate Alaric’s twins, with it seemingly gone wrong. But she says “The babies, They’re here.”, to Alaric and Caroline. The latter, still freaked out about the spell, yells, “Where? Floating in a raft in the Pacific Ocean somewhere? Look at the map. Your spell didn’t work.” Valerie slowly approaches Caroline, telling her that they’re not in the map, that the twins are inside her. Caroline looks at Alaric, who looks away, speechless and still reeling, and the camera turns back to her contained but perturbed expression.]

First Love Vs Epic Love
Stefan Salvatore x Male Reader
A/N: Current episode I'm on in the Vampire Diaries.
Tumblr media
Y/N paced around Stefan’s room, worriedly. He was worried about Stefan, Damon, Bonnie, Caroline, Alaric, and Matt. He was trapped in the Salvatore estate with the Heretics and Lillian Salavatore. One was dead thanks to him, Damon and Bonnie, so Lillian had Enzo kidnap him in retaliation and even took Elena’s coffin, and now he was incapable of leaving. He had to get out of here, he just had too.
Nora came strolling into the room, a haughty attitude in her step as looked at Y/N. “Don’t get cocky. You’re still spelled into the room. But I figured you could use some space to stretch your legs.”
“Oh, well, how thoughtful of you,” Y/N sarcastically said. “But considering this is my room, it's the least you and your larceny family could do.”
“Your room?” Nora asked.
“Yeah, my room. The one that I’ve shared with my boyfriend for the last three and a half years. We’ve shared many magic nights here and I even have my name written on the headboard.”
“Well, then, that changes everything then,” Nora said. She held up a journal. Stefan’s journal. He burned most of them when his memories had been wiped by Qetsiyah. “Since you know everything, maybe you’d like to give this a read?” She threw the book onto a nearby table.
“Stefan’s journal? I’ve read it already,” Y/N said.
“Really? Well, then, you probably know all about Valerie and Stefan.” Nora smirked at Y/N’s shocked face. He knew about Katherine and Lexi from his journals, but they never said anything about Valerie.
“What are you talking about? What the hell is Valerie doing with Stefan’s journal?”
“She never goes anywhere without it, and it was the first thing she looked for when we realized we were trapped in 1903. The entry for July 15, 1863, should tell you why.” She smiled and turned on her heels, as Y/N frowned down at the journal. 1863? A year before Stefan and Damon met Katherine. A year before they became vampires. His curiosity was peaked as he opened the journal to the date recommended as he began to read it.
JULY 15, 1863-- I just had the strangest encounter outside the county fair. I met someone, a girl. We only spoke for a moment, but her name is Valerie, and she may be the most wonderful girl I have ever met.
Y/N, is confused and a little upset, and frowns after he finishes the entry. Valerie and Stefan had a past? Great, just what he needed to make an already awful situation worse. Y/N couldn't sleep that night, so he spent all night and morning reading Stefan’s journal entries. It was almost like having him next to Y/N as he read them. He was sitting on Stefan's bed.
Valerie was like a breath of fresh air. I'd been suffocating, and hadn't even realized it…
Y/N’s reading is interrupted by the sound of a music box, which appears on the desk next to him, playing a quiet song as the ballerina inside spins around. The music box then disappears, causing Y/N to frown in confusion until the music box reappears in front of Y/N on the bed. Y/N immediately puts an instinctive hand in front of himself as he calls out, “Music box!” The box disappears from sight, and the sound of an explosion and screaming can be heard from the next room. It's Nora and Mary Louise. They tried to send him an exploding music box. Nice try.
Y/N smiles smugly as he calls out loud, “Thanks girls for the gift. It's an explosion of fun.”
Before he can continue reading, Y/N hears the sound of a phone vibrating on the floor underneath the table. Y/N, both confused and excited, scampers over to answer it.
“Hello?”
“Y/N?”
“Stefan!?” Y/N cries out.
“How are you on my phone right now?” Stefan asks from the other side of the line.
“You must have dropped it when you got threshold-vacuumed out of here yesterday,” Y/N said.
“How are you? Are you okay?”
“Well, I’m spelled in our room by a psychotic family of Heterics, but other than that…” Y/N said.
“I know. I’m still trying to figure a way to get into the house,” Stefan said.
“I’ll be fine, Fangs. Just keep Damon from killing any more Heretics. Which is ironic, since I did help him.”
“I will. Lily's only keeping you there to turn me against Damon. I'll convince her that I hate his guts, and she'll have made her point.”
Y/N nodded his head in understandment as his eyes traveled back towards the journal. He had to ask Stefan. He had to know the truth. No matter how uncomfortable the answer would be. “Who's Valerie Tulle, Fangs? You wrote about her in your journal from 1863. She must have found a copy in the prison world.” Even though he can’t see his face, Stefan is shocked at Y/N saying that name. It brings up old memories. Ones he thought he’d long since buried.
“Are you talking about one of the Heretics?”
“Yeah. Dirty-blonde hair, blue eyes? She's one of my new psycho housemates… and not that pretty.” Stefan chuckles on the other side of the phone and that makes Y/N smile a bit, but their moment is short lived as Valerie appears behind him and squeezes the hand Y/N is using to hold the phone. Y/N grunts out. “Y/N? What’s wrong?” The phone breaks under the forced pressure as the remains fall to the floor in pieces.
“Dirty-blonde hair, blue eyes, psycho. Not pretty. Summarized me to a tee!” Valerie says as she kicks Y/N hard in the head as he groans and falls on his back. “Bitch.”
“I’ve been called worse,” Valerie says.
“Y/N?” Stefan asked. When his phone beeps to indicate the call has ended, he groans in frustration and hangs up. Just then, Stefan hears the sound of glass shattering behind the Grill and rushes outside to see what is going on. When he gets outside, he sees Lily, who is in the driver's seat of an older car and is in the middle of parking between Stefan's Porsche and another car. She hits the latter's front bumper, knocking it off, and he sighs in annoyance before slowly inching forward. When Stefan sees her heading for his car, he vamp-speeds until he's standing in between the Porsche and Lily's car.
“You can take my town, you can destroy my house, but you will not touch my car,” Stefan said, pointing to his Porsche.
“Good morning, Stefan,” Lillian says, as she gets out of the car.
“What are you doing?”
“I was out practicing my driving and saw an opportunity to work on my parallel parking.”
“Hmm.” Suddenly, the sound of hissing air is heard as Lily's car slumps slightly on one side. Stefan and Lily walk around the car to check out one of the driver's-side tires, and Lily looks mildly embarrassed. “I must have run over a nail or something. The streets around here are a disgrace.”
“Listen. You need to tell those spoiled brats living in my house to stop torturing my boyfriend.”
“Of course. As soon as you tell your brother to stop killing said spoiled brats,” Lillian calmly says. Lillian opens up the trunk of her car to search for the tool box so she can start repairing her flat tire.
“Damon and I aren't really speaking right now,” Stefan lies.
“Really?”
“I have no idea where he is. Apparently, you did both of us a favor when you told him to leave town.”
“Then I will give a lecture to the girls on their manners,” Lillian said.
“Is one of those girls named Valerie Tulle?” Stefan asks her.
Lillian smiles. “I was wondering when you might put those pieces together. I knew Valerie years before you did. She worked in my TB ward. After I turned, I took her under my wing. If memory serves me, you didn't meet her until 1863.”
“How would you know that I met her?” Stefan asked, suspiciously.
“Because, Stefan... I sent her to you.”
Insert Flashback—MYSTIC FALLS COUNTY FAIR, 1863:
The county fair is underway near Mystic Falls, and the fairgrounds are full of people and there is music all around. Valerie scans the area, until her eyes fall upon Stefan, dressed in a fine day suit, is sitting on a bench and writing in his journal. Valerie, wearing the traditional day gown of the time period, approaches him.
“Care to share?” A nearby woman asks off to the side.
Valerie stands in front of Stefan, hands on her hips as his eyes are glued to writting in his journal. “You have to move.” Stefan looks up at the sudden voice, and sees a beautiful young woman standing before him. “Excuse me?”
“Your sad mood is spoiling the fun for everyone!” Valerie indicates to the whole fair. Both Valerie and Stefan laugh in amusement.
“I'm Valerie Tulle.”
“Stefan Salvatore. Are you new to town?”
“Just passing through.”
“I hope not too fast.”
Valerie smiles at Stefan’s kindness.
END FLASHBACK—PRESENT DAY SALVATORE BOARDING HOUSE
Valerie is standing in front of Y/N, holding up Stefan's journal. “How do you have this?”
“Nora gave it to me. The better question is, why do you have my boyfriend’s journal? What was the deal with you and Stefan?” Y/N asked her.
Valerie smiled at Y/N, like what he just asked was amusing. “Your boyfriend?” She asks him.
“Yeah, my boyfriend.” Y/N wasn’t the jealous type, but something about Valerie rubbed him the wrong way. Almost like Katherine, but not as strong as her.
“Wouldn't you like to know?”
“You know what? You're right I don’t want to know. The last thing I need to think about is some girl who batted her eyelashes at Stefan, like, a million years ago,” Y/N sarcastically says.
“‘Some girl?’” Valerie asks, amused. “I wasn't just some girl to him, Y/N. I was the first love of Stefan's life.”
….
Back outside the Mystic Grill Stefan and Lillian continue to talk outside while Stefan helps her change her flat tire. “Why did you send Valerie to me?”
“To check on you. Like any mother longing for her children, I was in a black hole of depression,” Lillian said. Stefan has a skeptical look on his face. “Yes, Stefan, I'm more than the cold-hearted snake you and your brother wish me to be. It took me a long time to get over losing you.” Lillian sighed as she continued telling her story to Stefan. “Anyway, I had been invited to travel to Europe with a... a vampire gentleman-friend of mine, but I refused to leave until I knew that my boys were okay.”
Stefan chuckled. “Heh. A gentleman-friend? You had a boyfriend?” Stefan rose to his feet.
“His name was Julian. What? You're acting as if that's absurd.”
“Well, your first husband shot and killed his own sons, so you'll have to excuse me if I don't trust your type,” Stefan said.
Lillian frowns at that. “Julian was nothing like your father.”
“No? What was he? A nebbishy banker? Town butcher, perhaps?”
“Julian was the man you are not supposed to fall for. So, of course, I did…”
FLASHBACK-- MYSTIC FALLS COUNTY FAIR, 1863
The county fair is still in full swing, and a well-dressed blonde man, Julian, is running a kissing booth where women can pay two pennies, which will be donated to the Confederate Army, to kiss him. He dips one of his customers as he kisses her, and when he breaks away and helps the woman upright, she gasps and fans herself. Julian then turns to the crowd to address them with a charming smile. “For the soldiers!” There is a lot of clapping and whistling going as a woman mutters a ‘yes,’ underneath her breath.
“Have your tickets ready, ladies! The men on the battlefield need us!” Julian says. He smiles at the crowd once again , and looks at a nearby woman who has come up to kiss him. “Hi.”
“Hello,” she says.
Julian's smile fades when he sees Valerie and Stefan sitting together on a nearby bench. Valerie tosses a piece of popcorn at Stefan, who tries to catch it in his mouth, but it misses and lands on the ground next to him. Valerie giggles at Stefan’s failed attempts. “You have to hold still! It will be delicious, I promise.” She tosses another piece of popcorn at him, but he just barely misses it, and the two laugh. Just then, Julian approaches them, looking displeased. “Aren’t we ladylike?” Stefan and Valerie turn to him, as Valerie has a slight frown on her face.
“Stefan... Meet Julian.”
Stefan gets up, trying to make a good first impression. “Your daughter and I were just appreciating the scientific wonder of gravitational force.” Stefan shakes Julian’s hand, as he chuckles nervously. Julian forces a fake smile as he looks at Valerie. “Hmm. How wise you must sound to less intelligent men.”
Valerie frowns as she steps forward. “Julian is not my father.”
“Oh, uh, my apologies! I just assumed—”
“Incorrectly, as it turns out.” Julian gives Valerie a look as he grabs hold of her, roughly. “Valerie, darling—a word?” He pulls her to the side as Stefan looks on. “Ugh, you're wrinkling my dress, Julian.”
“What are you doing?” Julian demands.
“Lily sent us here to get a sense of his mood…”
“Exactly. His mood, not his manhood. Remember, his mother gave very strict instructions for us to keep our distance. Do not displease her.”
“I have everything under control.” Valerie smiles at Stefan, who smiles at her back.
END FLASHBACK
Back in the present day of the Salvatore Boarding House, Y/N and Valerie are sitting in Stefan’s room as she flashes him a smile. A hint of cockyness in its form. “I was lying. I wasn't prepared for how taken I was with him. He was gorgeous and sweet…”
Y/N rolled his eyes. “And let me guess. That’s when you compelled him to write all those nice things about you in his journal. Spoiler! I've heard this story before, when a sweet, little orphan girl named Katherine Pierce waltzed into his life.”
“I suppose that would have been easier had I actually had the ability to compel people,” Valerie said. “I wasn't a vampire back then. I was just a witch, rejected from her coven for being an abomination of nature because I had no power of my own. The only magic I had was contained in an amulet, to be siphoned in times of need.”
“Aww, it must suck not having magic of your own,” Y/N said with false sympathy. Valerie glared at Y/N as he said that. “What makes you think you’re any better than me? Than the others?”
“Well let’s see. Only three reasons: Magic, magic, and oh, look, more magic. I don’t need to siphon the magic in my body to cast spells or use active magic. I just am.”
“Yes, well, not all of us were born into magic that we didn’t deserve.”
Y/N glared. “Just finish your stupid story.”
FLASHBACK—MYSTIC FALLS COUNTY FAIR, 1863
Stefan and Valerie are walking through the fair together as they get to know one another. “I have a brother who's away at war, a father who judges me for not joining him, and a mother who was strong and kind. She died when I was ten.”
“I'm so sorry.”
“Ah, it was a long time ago.” Stefan shrugs.
“There's no shame in missing her. A man on the outside with the heart of a boy? There are worse things,” Valerie says as they pause for a moment, as they see Julian heading towards them, obviously displeased. “Your chaperon is... quite persistent.” Stefan looks at Valerie, who turns and smiles at him. “Then we shall elude him. Come.” She grabs Stefan’s arm and leads them closer to Julian. “What are you doing?” Stefan asks as Valerie grabs her necklace and siphons the magic inside as she casts a cloaking spell over them.
“Invisique.” She chants underneath her breath, causing them both to vanish from Julian's view, forcing him to continue walking, thinking that he simply lost sight of them. Stefan looks at her in amazement as they continue to walk away. “How did he not see us?”
Valerie smiles. “Would you believe me if I said magic?” She leads him toward the woods, and Stefan laughs happily.
END FLASHBACK
Y/N looks at Valerie, expectantly. “And then…?”
“None of your business” Valerie smiles at him.
Y/N rolled his eyes again. “You come barging in here demanding why I have Stefan’s journal, and then tell me about your past with my boyfriend and say it’s not my business? It is my business.”
“Are you really that threatened by me, Y/N?” Valerie asked. “Scared Stefan’s going to leave you for someone better?”
“Please, you’re not even in the same league with Katherine Pierce, so don’t you even think for a moment that I’m sweating you,” Y/N told her as he looked her straight in the eyes. “I know why you put that burning spell on me. Which I totally reversed by the way. It's not so Mary Louise and Nora couldn't touch me. It's so Stefan wouldn't. Be more obvious.” She wanted to get inside Y/N’s head. Put a rift between him and Stefan, but it wasn’t going to work.
“Well, since you're so curious... Please, allow me to continue.”
FLASHBACK—MYSTIC FALLS WOODS, 1863
Night has fallen, and Valerie is leading a nervous-looking Stefan into the woods. “Julian is going to kill me.”
Valerie smiles. “Just compliment the whiteness of his teeth. He'll forget all about it.”
They find an abandoned cart with a lit lantern on it, and Valerie sits on it, smiling at Stefan flirtatiously. Stefan smiles back at her before kissing her gently, and the two make out for a long moment until Stefan breaks away, looking mildly embarrassed. Valerie looks at him with concern. “Is something wrong?”
Stefan looks at her, bashfully. “No, no. It's just that I've never…” He trails off, and Valerie realizes that he's a virgin. She smiles sweetly at him, and Stefan hesitates for a moment before gesturing to the front of her dress. “Do you mind if I...?” Valerie nods as Stefan nervously fiddles starts to unbutton the bodice of her dress before the two begin to make out more passionately this time. Valerie shrugs off her jacket before turning away from him so Stefan can unlace her corset. Once he's finished, he moves closer behind her and kisses her neck, and Valerie holds tightly to the cart to support herself as they slowly make love.
END FLASHBACK
Y/N looks stunned and a little upset after learning the details of their affair, but Valerie's expression is smug as she turns to look at him. “It was his first time. I'm sure you've been someone's first, so you know what it's like to have a completely unforgettable place in someone else's mind.”
“I completely agree. First times are very special.” Y/N leans forward with a smug look of his own. “You may have been Stefan’s first, but I’ll let you in on a little secret. Stefan was my first time, right here in this very room and I’m sure on that chair you’re sitting on as well. Valerie frowns at that, obviously not expecting that reaction from Y/N.
….
Lillian is driving down one of the country roads of Mystic Falls in her car while Stefan sits in the passenger seat. Lillian looks over at Stefan curiously, but he quickly admonishes her. “No, no, no! Keep the car on this side of the road.” Stefan sighed with relief as she straightened back to her side of the road.
“Valerie never told me about your romance…”
“Well, Valerie never told me that you were alive.”
“Would it have mattered?” Lillian asks him. Stefan looks at her, offended. “Is that a real question?”
“She told me that you'd forgotten all about me. She said you had moved on. That... That was the only way I was able to move on, as well.”
“My mother was practically ripped out of my arms and sent to a TB ward. You don't move on from that. You find distractions.”
FLASHBACK-- MYSTIC FALLS WOODS, 1863
Stefan and Valerie kiss each other and smile after their tryst in the cart. Once they're redressed, Stefan leads her farther into the woods. “Come with me. I want to show you something.” He takes her hand, and they continue walking until they reach a grave in the cemetery. Valerie chuckled nervously. “Heh, this is romantic.” Stefan smiles at her.
“This is my mother's grave,” he says, as Valerie freezes when she realizes what Stefan is doing, and a flash of guilt crosses her face as Stefan kneels in front of the grave.
“I come here every day to replace the flowers. She's been dead for six years, but I'm still trying to make up for my failure.”
“What do you mean by that?”
Stefan looked at Valerie. “She had consumption. One day, her coughing would not stop. My father sent me to go buy some flowers to make an herbal tonic. I ran to town as fast as I could, but by the time I got home with the flowers, she had been taken to the sanatorium.”
“You never got to say goodbye…” Valerie says.
Stefan looks down guilty as he sighs. “She died in the TB ward shortly after.” Valerie knees next to Stefan as he continues in a shaky voice. “I always wonder what would have happened if I had just been able to run a little faster. The tonic would have helped her. She could have lived.”
Valerie glances at the flowers on Lillian's grave. “Were these the kind of flowers you were sent for?”
“Yes. Cream…”
“Cream violets. That tonic would not have saved her.”
Stefan looks stunned. “That's... That's very kind of you, but you cannot be certain.”
“But I am. I worked in a sanatorium, caring for patients who were just like your mother. Cream violets have no medicinal properties. It's an old wives' tale,” Valerie said. She gently brushes a lock of hair off of his forehead. “Your father sent you on a fool's errand. You were only ten. He... probably wanted you out of the house to make it easier on himself.”
Stefan seems overwhelmed by this revelation. “No matter what, you couldn't have saved your mother. Her death is not your fault.” She caresses his cheek with her hand, and he reaches up to squeeze it gently. It looks as though he's about to kiss her again when a male voice calls out from behind them. It's Julian, who looks extremely unhappy.
“Time to say goodbye,” Julian says, as Valerie and Stefan quickly stand to their feet and turn toward him. “I expected you would visit here sooner or later.”
“Sir, if you would just let me explain…”
“We are leaving for New York now.”
“I didn't mean to disobey you—”
“It was not me who you disobeyed. Come with me now, and we will speak no more of it. The carriage awaits.” Julian turns and leaves to head for the carriage, and Stefan, looking sad, turns to Valerie. “When will I see you again?”
“I will find my way back to you. I promise.” She leaves with Julian.
PRESENT DAY-- SALVATORE BOARDING HOUSE
“So, it was kind of like The Notebook, except you two never reconnect, and he totally forgot about you. I like this story,” Y/N snidely says.
Valerie glares at Y/N. “Julian was in a hurry to get back to Europe. He convinced me to lie to Lily, to tell her that Stefan was happy. Believe me, Julian had a way of convincing anyone to do anything.”
….
On the Back roads of Mystic Falls, Stefan is still giving Lily a driving lesson on the outskirts of town as they continue to talk. Lily looks over at him, but when he catches her, he points at the windshield. “No, no. Keep your eyes on the road. Make a left here. It'll take us back into town.”
“Is there anything else you'd like to know?”
“No. I mean, it doesn't matter— obviously, it was all a lie, right?”
“What do you mean?” Lillian asks him.
“Well, Valerie was using me,” Stefan said.
“No. No, Valerie wouldn't have hurt you, because that would have inadvertently hurt me as well.”
“Hmm. did it ever occur to you that maybe Valerie doesn't give a crap about you, or anyone else?”
“I don't believe that,” Lillian protests.
“No? How about the part where she sent me a telegram saying she was coming back?” Stefan said.
“She what?” Lillian looks shocked.
Stefan looks out the window as he remembers what happened so long ago. “She'd been gone a few months…” In a flashback , Stefan sits in a room at the Salvatore Estate and reads a telegram he received from Valerie with a smile. She narrates the letter in voiceover. “I promised I would find my way back to you. I long to be in your arms again.” The scene cuts to the present day with Y/N and Valerie as she talks.
“She said she wanted to run away with me. Her telegram said to meet her Friday at noon. Heh, I showed up two hours early,” Stefan said.
Stefan, had been dressed in a nice suit, yellow sunflowers in his hands, waiting for Valerie.
“He waited and waited for me. With every passing footstep, he would turn, expecting to see me,” Valerie said. Stefan, hearing someone approaching, turns and sighs when he realizes it's just an older couple walking through town. They nod at him politely, but he still looks disappointed.
“I sat around all day like an idiot—past sundown, after nightfall—but she never showed up. So, yeah, I guess you could say I'm wondering what the hell the whole point was.” Stefan says.
“Surely, you’re not still angry with her?” Lillian asks as Stefan looks at her for a moment before turning and looking out the window. “It was a 150 years ago.”
Back at the Boarding House Valerie continues her side of the story. “Eventually, he accepted that he'd been abandoned all over again, and then he walked home under the cold and distant stars.” Valerie slams the journal on the table.
Y/N touches the journal gently. “How could you do that to him,” Y/N asked her. “How could you break his heart like that?” Valerie glares at Y/N, close to tears as she coldly says. “There was a change of plan. I'm done talking to you about this.” She turns to leave him. She stops in the doorway. Stefan never knew the truth. How she had been pregnant with his child. How Julian had beat her and made her lose the baby, and how she became a Heretic. The world’s first Heretic.
“Valerie?” Y/N asks. The blonde Heretic turns to him, an annoyed look on her delicate features. “What do you want?”
“I don’t really know what you hoped to gain by telling me that story of you and Stefan. And truth be told, I don’t really care.” Y/N stands up. “But if you take one step backward, one slip up, give me one reason to think you might hurt Stefan, and I will vanquish you. Understand?”
Valerie said nothing as she looked at Y/N with such intense hate. She hated him and he hated her. That much was evident. She turned and walked out of the room.
Later on, Lillian returns to the house and visits Y/N upstairs. “Is Valerie here?”
“I heard her leave the house. I guess spilling her guts makes her hungry.”
“She told you about that? I understand it must be awkward to hear something like that.”
“Yeah, I just spent the day reliving Stefan's first time. I really don't feel like talking about this with his mother, who is also my hostage taker, but thanks,” Y/N tells her.
“I was simply curious about one's ability to stay calm in a situation like this,” Lillian said.
“Well, you must have had a special someone as well, so you know what it's like to love them with your whole heart.”
“Of course I did.”
“Then you know that that love is different from any other kind of love,” Y/N tells her. “Did you know Stefan wrote about you all the time? You can read for yourself. Here.” He hands her the journal, as she hesitantly takes it from him. “He loved you. He missed you.” Lillian smiled happily at what Stefan wrote about her.
She turns away from Y/N and calls out loud to the next room. “Nora, remove the barrier spell, please. As of this moment, Mr. Gilbert is no longer a prisoner.”
“Actually, I broke the barrier spell hours ago,” Y/N tells her.
“Then, why didn’t you leave?”
“Because I wanted you to come to your senses. See that you were making a mistake, Y/N said.
“Thank you. You’re free to go,” Lillian said.
“You’re just letting me go?”
“It’s a reward for Stefan’s honesty. Go, before I change my mind.”
Y/N walks to the doorway, stops, and turns to look at Lillian. “I don’t know what made your heart grow four sizes today, but thanks.” Y/N speeds out of the room.
….
At the Mystic Grill, Stefan is drinking a glass of bourbon in front of the fire when Y/N walks into the room, looking exhausted ,but relieved to be free. Stefan stands to his feet. “Y/N!” He reaches for his boyfriend’s hand, and to his amazement, it doesn’t burn him like it had yesterday. Stefan looks at Y/N. “How…?”
“I broke the spell.”
“How did you escape?”
“I didn't. Lillian let me go,” Y/N said.
Stefan frowns in shock. “She did?”
“Yeah... I guess today is just full of Valerie-sized surprises, huh?” Y/N walked past Stefan and sat down on a nearby step, and looked at him, a teasing smirk on his face. Stefan looks at him sheepishly and chuckles. “Heh... Look, I was just a kid when I met her. Just a troubled boy mourning his dead mom. I was young and human.”
“I was young and human when you and I met, and I remember the exact moment when I first saw you. I saw your hot back,” Y/N chuckled.
Stefan smiled as well. “We met outside the men’s bathroom. You and Elena were going off on Jeremy for using drugs that he didn’t have on him.”
“Yeah, things were simpler back then.” Y/N looked down, then back at Stefan, who took a seat next to Y/N. “As crazy as it sounds. I’m glad you met Valerie, Fangs.”
“You are?” Stefan had a shocked look on his face.
“Well, I’m not exactly happy about hearing how you screwed her against a wagon of hay.” Y/N smirked at Stefan’s blushing face. It was adorable. “And I’m not happy that she’s still in love with you and she might try to take you away from me, but I’m glad that she let you feel something other than sadness. Because it’s what you did for me.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Before I met you, I was this ocean of sadness pretending to be strong, even though on the inside I was broken. Then you came into my life, Stefan, and you put me back together again. You taught me how to love and hope again, and I will always be grateful to you for that. So, I guess I can say thank you to Valerie for putting you back together again too.”
“Well, I’m glad to have you in my life as well. The love I have for you is unlike anything that I’ve ever expressed before. You bring out an epic kind of love in me, Y/N,” Stefan said.
“Valerie's out of the prison world. Does that change things for you?”
“Of course not.”
“You don't wonder what would have happened if Valerie would have shown up to meet you?” Y/N asked him. “Would you even be here right now, next to me?”
“I don't wonder anymore. I don't care about the past. All I care about is that you're here, and you're safe. You're with me.” Stefan leans close to Y/N as the young hybrid does the same and the two share a passionate kiss close to the fire. The kiss starts to get more intense as Stefan gently pushes Y/N onto the hardwood floor, straddling the hips of his younger lover.
Stefan pulls back as Y/N smiles up at him. “Wow, not bad for a guy who’s first time was in the woods.”
Stefan smiled back, mischievously as he began to take off his shirt. His muscled tone body on full display for Y/N to ogle. “Well, I've gotten a lot better since then, care to find out?”
Y/N smiled as Stefan leaned down and kissed him once again, the older vampire began to remove his pants. That night, Y/N and Stefan stroked the fires of their love for each other.

This Feels a Little Cult-y - Legacies x Noralise!Daughter!Reader
One Day You Will Understand
B/m/n = biological mother’s name
A/n: I cba with this episode, so who's up for a road trip?
"Hope texting you?" Valerie enquired as she tried to keep focussed on driving, something that had taken her a while to get the grasp of.
"Josie, actually. She's dragging Hope on a witch retreat, in the opposite direction to where we're going. Hope's still mad we planned a college visit when Landon broke up with Hope and left the school." You explained, chewing a strawberry lace as Valerie quirked an eyebrow.
"What a coincidence!" B/m/n sarcastically exclaimed, sighing as she wished she could take some of the snacks you were currently eating.
"You could have picked any college, but we're going to Whitmore? Nora attended here for a bit, as did Bonnie." Valerie explained, pausing before clicking on the indicator, approaching the upcoming corner.
Nora perked up immediately, whilst Mary-Louise huffed, rolling her eyes as memories of the friendship between Bonnie and Nora came into her mind.
"Aunt Bonnie's grandmother taught the Occult Studies there. Apparently Sheila knew my mother too, B/m/n, as a friend of the Gemini Coven, and their damn prison world spells." You replied, getting more and more snarky as you focussed on the past.
"Y/n could go anywhere, why not New York, or California, maybe even somewhere in England?" "I can't see Y/n wanting to attend somewhere so far away from Hope."
"We can still turn around?" Valerie offered, but you just sighed, resting your head against the window.
"I need to talk to Vardemus, he's a professor at Whitmore apparently." You explained, staring out the window at the passing cars as Valerie nodded, the drive falling silent.
///
"Will you need my help finding Vardemus?" Valerie enquired, the two of you walking around the Whitmore Campus as you hummed, turning around to take in the sunlight.
"I messaged ahead, he's currently teaching a class. Why? Did you not bring enough to drink?" You raised an eyebrow, gesturing to the hydroflask your aunt was carrying.
"Very funny. But if you want a proper college tour, we should get one before you're needed back at the school." Valerie replied, frowning as you opened your phone.
"I lost my streak with Lizzie, since she's been radio silent on her retreat, and now everyone at the school is quiet. I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad one these days, but, ooh, I want to see the English Literature classes." You sidetracked yourself, heading towards a stand as your aunt rolled her eyes.
"Nora, she gets this from you." Valerie whispered to herself, remembering Nora's love of books from way back when, "also, what the hell is a streak?"
Nora's grasp of Mary-Lou's hand tightened as she began to look over all the books that would be studied in an English Literature class.
///
"Ah, Ms Hildegard, I take it you are here for these?" Professor Vardemus enquired as he gestured to the scrolls on his desk.
"I'm sorry to say they don't say anything useful for what you wanted to know, but I can tell you, Oren is not the only one you should be aware of. There are rumoured to be others you should be on watch for." Vardemus explained, unaware that one of what he was talking about would be attending his classes soon.
///
"Care to explain what you were looking for from Vardemus?" Valerie enquired as the two of you returned to the car, the headlights illuminating the darkness as your phone chimed.
"Anything on angels, but I'm not entirely sure what I was looking for, because that scroll didn't say angels, it said gods. Then again, Greek myth has both, Zeus and Hera had a daughter called Angelos, or Angelia, honestly it's hard to read these photos I took of the scrolls... and it looks like Hope and the twins got high at that witches retreat. They think they're dressed as pandas?" You explained, showing your aunt your phone before she turned the engine on.
"You don't think there's a relation to Angelo there? Oren, I mean?" B/m/n asked, but Nora and Mary-Louise shrugged, they had no idea that is was only the start of what was going on.
"Wait, Lizzie, Hope and Josie think they're pandas?"
"We should head back to Mystic Falls."

35 - The Save Raelyn Squad
Tumblr media
Part 36
Family is More than Blood
@secretdreamlandmentality
Klaus’s pov
Walking quickly through the school hallways with my boots hitting the wooden floor I fling opened the double doors to the large office room that the others were set up in. Raelyn was currently spelled asleep in the Saltzman twins bedroom. “Alright I’ve called you all here for a reason and there seems to be nothing being done.”
“Something like this takes time, Klaus. We don’t even know what is wrong with her.” Freya lifted her head up from the book she was reading.
Rolling my eyes I hit a fist on the table. “She’s clearly been possessed by someone or something. She would never use her powers against our kids or the other students here.”
“Yes but we have to know what is inside of her before we go charging in.” Valerie responded to the hybrid.
Davina tucked hair behind her ear. “Kol mentioned what you did to the Hollow. Sending it to the prison word but that it escaped is that right?”
“Yes until Kai Parker escaped and apparently released it himself.” I snapped at the harvest witch.
She gave me a weak expression looking at Valerie and my sister. I knew that they wanted to help but I felt this was taking too long. Three powerful witches and none seemed to know what to do next. The office doors opened again revealing my oldest daughter. “She seems to be fine for now. But the sleep spell won’t hold her for much longer.”
“Thank you, Hope.” Freya said.
Turning my head I didn’t see the others with her. “Where’s your siblings?”
“Missy is watching Henrik, Rapunzel and Charming. Josie is helping Ric calm down the kids. Lizzie is somewhere around here. Oh and Jackson is helping Alina while she’s puking in the toilet.” Hope listed off her fingers.
Davina offered sweetly. “I can give her some urns for the sickness.”
“She said the tea I gave her helped the most.” Freya adds.
Hope shake her head. “Honestly I think she’s about to just have the baby at how big her belly has gotten.”
“I can check on her and see if she’s ready. We should probably take her to the hospital and compel the doctors to not ask questions if something goes wrong because of her magic.” Valerie touched on.
Slamming my hands down on the table again the four witches nearly jumped out of their skins. “Can we bloody focus on why I called you all here. I am concerned about when my daughter will give birth. But right now my wife has a demon inside of her that needs to be gotten rid of!”
“Klaus, don’t you think we are looking for solutions here.” Freya sighed heavily.
“Well it doesn’t seem like you’re doing anything!” I growled, showing my golden werewolf eyes.
Valerie moved around the desk standing in front with arms crossed over her chest. “I have a plan in mind but it is very risky if not done properly.”
“How risky is this plan?” Hope questioned with a raised brow.
Valerie clasped her hands together with her hair falling over her shoulders. “It would involve a lot of magic. What I was thinking is that we just siphon whatever is inside Raelyn again. But this time we create a stronger prison world with the amount of magic we get with multiple witches on the task.”
“Like creating our own coven?” Davina raises a brow. “Are we sure that is a good idea?”
Hope stepped towards the group of ladies. “It actually might be better for all of us. Alina is pregnant and gets tired easily. Missy may be a heretic but she doesn’t know how strong she is when she consumes a high amount of magic.”
“See now, was that so hard?” I snapped at them.
Freya slumped her shoulders. “If you want us to help, I suggest you use a more pleasant tone. Hope, can you go gather the others. We will need the Saltzman’s help too on this spell.”
“I’ll go find the Ascendent from Alaric’s office.” Valerie vamped out of the room with Davina walking out of the room too.
She left the room with a head nod and no word needed to be spoken between her and the group. Bending my head down I sucked in a breath running my fingers through my hair. “This has to work. You have to make it work, Freya.”
“Worrying won’t help any here, brother.” She picked up the book she was reading, hugging it to her chest. “You know that she would tell you not to worry about her. She’s stronger than anyone thought she would be in everything from what I have seen.”
“That she is…she’s the strongest person I’ve ever known even if she didn’t always see it in herself.” Sniffing through some tears I chuckled through a croaking in my throat thinking back on my wife when she was just a simple siphon witch but proved to be so much more.
It was a late and stormy night in Mystic Falls when I got out of the car and Raelyn got out on the other side. She walked closer to my side reaching down for my hand, slightly nervous. “Are you sure that we should be out tonight. I mean Bonnie has all that witch magic inside of her.”
“The save Elena gang also is holding my coffins. I refuse to let them win. As for you, you've been locked up in my house by your own doing. You need some interaction in your life.” I explained to her looping my larger hand through her small one.
Holding open the door for her she walked forward and through the doorway of the Grill. She sat down on a barstool and I sat down beside her when the high school quarterback came over. “What can I get you two?”
“I’ll have a mango margarita.” She replied.
“I’ll have the same.” I told the human before he walked off to make the drinks.
The door to the bar and grill flung opened and we both turned our attention to see Damon Salvatore strolling in. He sits down right next to Raelyn even though the entire bar was empty and he could have sat anywhere else. “This should be interesting. Hey siphon witch, I would have thought you went places without the hybrid breathing down your neck.”
“Despite your opinion of me, Raelyn rather enjoys my company.” I sniped back to him.
His icy blue eyes met mine. “Hmmm. I don’t see it.”
“Here’s your drinks. Damon what do you want?” Matt came over sliding our glasses in front of us.
“The usual quarterback.” He replied with a smirk meaning it was Bourbon.
Raelyn takes a long sip of her drink while I just sipped slowly on mine watching the raven haired vampire. “Why are you out tonight, Damon?” Raelyn attempted to do a friendly, normal conversation.
“Just came to enjoy some Bourbon at the only bar in town. What about you, siphon witch. Is there where you help the hybrid plot his evil plans?” Damon leaned closer to her.
She sat her drink down answering him. “He isn’t evil to me. He just wants back what you and the others took.”
“And I will give them back once he agrees to leave Elena and the rest of the town alone.” The vampire said.
I raised my glass back up taking a long drink and finishing it quickly. Getting to my feet I touched her shoulder signaling that we should go. “Raelyn, we should leave. They've opened the place to the riftafe.”
“Come on, Klaus. He's not doing anything but talking.” She looked at me giving me some puppy dog eyes. “You said I needed to get out of your house more.”
“Fine.” I sighed sitting back down and just watching the pair talk for a few minutes.
Raelyn shifts on her barstool sitting her drink glass down in front of her. “So what will it take to get his family back, Salvatore. More Bourbon, a kiss or maybe just a little magic migraine to the head?”
“Bonnie’s been looking into you. But I haven't found much. What's your story?” Damon questions staring into her eyes intensely.
She leans back, lowering her gaze. “I'm nothing special. Just a girl abandoned by her coven…uh we should go.”
“There's more to her then she's letting on and I'm going to find out what.” Damon informed me when I paid the bill following the blonde streak of hair when she exited the bar.
“Raelyn!” I called her name seeing her standing out in the middle of the parking lot. Reaching her I removed my jacket putting it over her shoulders after seeing her shiver from the cold breeze. “Here that should help. Are you alright?’
She shakes her head avoiding my gaze and focusing on her shoes. “It’s not that, Klaus.”
“If he said something offensive I'll go back in there and teach him a lesson.” I raised my voice pointing back towards the door feeling my temper coming through.
She lifts her head up and my heart nearly breaks seeing tears falling down her face. “I need to go back to the mansion before I accidentally hurt somebody like I did Jacob. I'm not in good control of my powers.”
“Raelyn, you don’t have to hide away.” I trailed off.
She runs her fingers through her loose hair sniffing through tears. “But I do. I never got to feel part of a coven even if they are not great people. I….don’t feel confident with my magic especially after what I did to my own twin brother. I’m just broken…”
“Don’t think that for a moment, Raelyn Lane.” Cupping her face in my hands I stared intensely in her orbs. “You are not broken. You’re more stable than I am.”
Raelyn tried to push me away but I didn’t move back when she hit her fists against my chest. She needed to see me the way I saw her in just the very short time I have known her. “You’re just saying that, Klaus….at some point you’ll run from me.”
“I’d never run, Raelyn.” Pressing my forehead against hers she shut her eyes sucking in a breath. “I’d walk through the fire with you. I’d…I’d go through hell and back with you. Do you hear me, I won’t leave you, siphon queen.”
“Thank you, Klaus.” She whispered, laying her head against my chest. Her nails are digging into the fabric of my black jacket. Wrapping my arms around her waist I put my chin on top of her head just holding her for a few minutes.
Raelyn’s fingernails were clawing at my forearms and she was kicking and screaming against me now. Her hair going every direction during her attempt to get away from me. “Let go of me….get off me Niklaus!”
“Rae, stop fighting me. I’m trying to help you.” I grunted gripping her harder than I cared for but if she ran we couldn’t get the Hollow out of her like we had planned.
Vamping into the woods outside the school I throw her forward in front of me. She scrambles to her feet vamping forward only to cover her forehead with her hand when she smacks into an invisible barrier once again. “You’ve got to be kidding me, Klaus. You know I can just beat you. I’d expect better from you.”
“Oh I’m not alone, Rae.” Clasping my hands behind my back I take a few steps back.
“Phasmatos radium calaraa.” I heard Valerie whisper under her breath as all our witch friends and family appeared on equal sides of me standing in a circle around my wife.
Raelyn scoffed, blowing hair out of her mouth. “Ophh I’m really scared now. Whatcha gonna do, throw one spell at a time hoping you can bring me back?”
“We just want to help you. We know you don’t want to hurt any of us.” Davina said, stepping closer to the barrier.
Raelyn smirked vamping forward trying to attack her and the harvest witch jumped back slightly in fear. “You’re not as tough as you think, D. Now let me out before the voices in my head make me want to kill you all for your magic….cause she…him…them…they crave it more than anything I have ever felt.”
“The Hollow’s spirit is inside of her now. The only change we have of bringing the real Raelyn back is by removing it from her. Does everyone understand what we need to do?” Freya asked, looking between her other seven fellow witches who all gave a head nod in agreement.
Valerie walked forward drawing the Ascendant from inside her jacket pouring a vial of Bonnie’s blood inside it. “Klaus, you don’t have to join us in the spell. We may need someone to pull one of us out if something goes wrong.”
“I am not going anywhere!” I flashed my werewolf eyes and fangs at her and her ridiculous suggestion. “I promised Raelyn that I wouldn’t walk through fire with her and I intend to keep that promise.”
Hope holds out her hands for Missy and Alina. “Always and forever. A Mikaelson looks out for their family.” They each clasped a hand in Hope’s looking to the Saltzman twins.
Lizzie and Josie were standing on the other side of Alina. Missy was next to Davina then Freya. She was on the left side of Valerie and I was on the heretics' right. “Repeat after me everybody. Vintomas inta Grum, vin novus novasomin-“ Freya began chanting with some torches catching fire around the circle we had formed.
“Hold up a second Freya!” Everyone halted whipping their heads around seeing Jacob, Hayley and Andrea running up to us in a hurry. Her brother slumped his shoulders running a hand through his locks. “Don’t think you are saving my sister without my help.”
Hayley crossed her arms over her chest. “I’ll stand watch. Be safe guys.”
“Okay let’s start again….Vintomas inta Grum, vin novus novasomin. Vintomas inta grum, vin callus novasomin….Vintomas inta Grum, vin novus novasomin. Vintomas inta grum, vin callus novasomin.” The wind picks up and I shut my eyes placing my hand in Valerie’s and holding onto Andrea’s hand once her and her father joined the circle.
My eyes fell shut and I collapsed onto the dirt ground with the others shortly following behind me. It was a few minutes before I woke up rubbing my eyes until my vision was clear in front of me. “Who the hell is there!”
“Long time no see, Klaus. How exactly are we seeing each other right now?” The figure becomes clearer in front of me. Familiar straight black raven hair and soft dark eyes met mine.
Slowly getting to my feet other figures came around her showing me her mother Eliza, Liv, Luke and then finally Joshua. I saw the rest of my family appear behind me. “Josette?” Whatever was battling Raelyn inside her own head was clearly going to make this more difficult than we anticipated.
