Beyond Technical Skills

Baru-baru ini, World Economic Forum (WEF) merilis Future of Jobs Report 2030. Laporan ini mengungkapkan prediksi menarik: 92 juta pekerjaan akan hilang, tapi 170 juta pekerjaan baru bakal muncul!

92 juta pekerjaan yang bakal hilang ini kebanyakan pekerjaan administratif yang bakal digantikan otomatisasi. Misalnya kasir, penjaga tiket, bahkan akuntan sama auditor. Sementara 170 juta lowongan baru ini lebih ke arah teknologi dan energi terbarukan - kayak big data specialist, software engineers, sama UX designer (wohoo!).

McKinsey pun punya prediksi serupa: sampai 2030, 75-375 juta orang bakal perlu belajar skill baru dan ganti profesi. Sebenernya tren ini udah predictable sih, gak terlalu mengejutkan.

Tapi munculnya generative AI (gen AI) bikin saya was-was. Rasanya AI ini malah mempercepat prediksi yang udah ada. Awalnya saya skeptis, berpikir AI gak bakal bisa sepintar itu menggantikan manusia di bidang kreatif. Nyatanya? AI udah bisa bikin video, gambar, musik, tulisan - hal-hal yang kita pikir cuma bisa dilakukan manusia!

Di bidang saya sendiri, saya udah liat AI bisa bikin deliverables kayak sitemap dan wireframe. Tinggal nunggu waktu sampe AI bisa bikin desain web sama aplikasi yang high fidelity.

Yang bikin saya khawatir bukan soal bakal digantikan, tapi generasi saya dan generasi di bawah saya yang kayaknya belum sadar ada "pergeseran tektonik" gara-gara AI, khususnya gen AI.

Di era tech spring Indonesia (2012-2021), lowongan kerja banyak banget tapi yang qualified dikit. Sekarang dengan gen AI, gap antara industri sama pendidikan bakal makin melebar. Lowongan kerja bakal makin selektif, makin butuh skill tinggi, sementara talenta yang bener-bener siap cuma segelintir.

Contohnya, desainer yang cuma "jualan" kemampuan merancang desain bakal rentan digantikan AI yang bisa generate website dalam hitungan detik. Tapi desainer yang punya critical thinking, empati, berpikir sistematis, sama bisa bangun relasi - mereka bakal fokus ke aspek strategis yang belum bisa disentuh AI.

Skill-skill dasar ini penting, tapi gak semenawan bootcamp atau ebook yang janjiin gaji gede. Padahal skill foundational kayak critical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal skills, mental flexibility, systems thinking, self awareness, sama literasi teknologi itu yang bener-bener valuable - tak lekang waktu dan bisa dipake di berbagai industri.

Di era AI ini, kita gak bisa cuma jadi penonton. Kita harus jadi pemain. Belajar, adaptasi, sama terus-terusan upgrade skill. Bukan soal kalah atau menang sama AI, tapi bagaimana kita bisa naik level dengan menggunakan teknologi baru ini.

Hello hello. I just read your post about things the gents would be willing to share with (Y/n) and when it got to Jamil sharing scapes or sheds it reminded me of a cool web comic I read awhile back. Basically the snake men (shifters) would gift their sheds to their mates, evennturning the sheds into clothes since the sheds kind of became similar to silk in a way, just more comfy, soft, and more resistant to wear and tear and it had me wondering, are naga sheds/skins/scales valuable or have any interesting properties? Would something similar to that be possible or would it be considered weird/not possible? Ngl a dress made from the colors of Jamil's pattern would look really pretty. My sona would probably tease him a bit like "hey look, we match now 🤭🧡" lol.

His colors are actually as vibrant on him as they are on his shed, usually the only difference is the scales on his body are iridescent and the shed is not. Most Naga have a certain element they are resistant to, Jamil being resistant to fire. It would make a good fire-suit and it would look like you are wearing his scales if you turn it into a dress. I plan to use his scales and the gold bangles Kalim wears to design their wedding dress, kinda like how I used Malleus scales and Vil's feathers for their wedding dresses.

(tarot) cards v. penacony symbols

beware, HSR 2.1 spoilers ahead

i just saw somebody on formerly the bird site comparing Gallagher's "I'm Thirteen" voice line to the thirteenth tarot card (that is "Death", more on this below, which was SENDING me–), so bear with me as i walked the rest of this brainrot pipeline because reading too much into media when nobody asks is my favorite pastimes.

so, a major pointer of this theory has to be how the first character and web event (where we had to suspiciously collect 13 cards to obtain the special one) we were introduced to on penacony is Black Swan, a tarot reader. what's more, she also refers to them as "fate cards".

therefore, when gallagher says,

notice how "Thirteen" is capitalized, signifying its importance beyond just a number. apparently, the thirteenth major arcana is

"Death", that's started enveloping penacony. but considering Sunday refers to him as a "servant of the Enigmata" who wishes to undo absolute truth or order, this "Death" may not be literal, as some tarot decks opt to title the thirteenth card as "Rebirth" or "Death-Rebirth." i'm going to work off the assumption that Gallagher's role is breaking cycles to start anew. as Acheron deduces, "as people immerse their souls...where consequences and pain cease to exist...they draw closer to necrosis. regardless of the perceived bliss, death looms as the inevitable conclusion", Gallagher may bring about these fake "deaths" to encourage people to wake up from dreams and challenge The Family over all their stubborn means to uphold the dreamscape as it is since it's always been giving into human vices and sinking back into the memoria.

another explanation i've come up with is how thirteen also foreshadows Gallagher's "assassination" of Sunday (if you count that as assassination), since there are 12 dreamscapes The Family oversees = 12 apostles, and Sunday is the day of god (plus everything about his character design), who is betrayed by gallagher as judas, the thirteenth disciple.

then of course, not my interpretation but i've also seen a theory worth mentioning where, say, Gallagher was born on februrary 29th and it's only been 13 leap years since his birth. a leap year occurs every 4 years, a number pronounced closely to death in most asian cultures, and 13*4=52, the number of "loyal" Family members he stole his features from.

moving on, the second character i've gathered with a connection to tarot, or cards in general, is our beloved suicidal gambler, Aventurine. when he was under the penalty from The Harmony, he had 17 hours to prove his case. the seventeenth major arcana is

taken literally, Aventurine is the lucky star, blessed by Gaithra Triclops – as the card also signifies hope, which fits the narrative when Acheron helps free him from the curse and proposes him a way out of the dreamscape and the IPC. when reversed, however, the card spells loss and abandonment, sometimes even impotence, all of which Aventurine used to be helpless against. this interpretation aligns with the Ace of Spades on his character, as it's not only the most valuable card in poker, but is also historically linked with death and war. From WWII where soldiers of an American airborne division were marked with the spades symbol on their helmets to bring about good luck, to the Vietnam War where the ace of spades was a tool of psychological warfare when US soldiers would leave the ace on bodies of their victims. they thought the card's connections to past French colonial rule of Vietnam would demoralize them from putting up a resistance, and what Aventurine's homeland Signonia went through was pretty much a colonization.

The Star also immediately follows the sixteenth major arcana – The Tower, which leads to my next point

this one is more familiar to HSR so far, as it quite literally inspires the logo of the Path of Destruction. it is often associated with disruptive revelation, misery, and unforeseen catastrophe, which as I said, Aventurine must've also suffered through to prevail as he is today. but imo it also befits the shady dealings we have with Misha – a Destruction character on penacony so far. we know "Mikhail" is the Watchmaker, and Misha is a common diminutive of the name "Mikhail". the trailblazer seems to be the only one aware of his presence, he stands guard at an alternative entrance when we first try to visit the golden hour, clock details on his outfit plus the "room" in A Child's Dream, and he can also see other dreamville characters like clockie, which are heavily hinted to be inspired from historical rebel figures. i wouldn't say it's a stretch to imagine Misha having something to do with the Watchmaker's Legacy that may be a calamity later "revealed" to him.

finally, i'll give some honorary mentions a shoutout, as every key player on penacony so far all has a tarot card relating to them.

the wild card "The Fool" that spells folly, mania, and delirium of the likes for Sparkle's Masked Fools

and Acheron, as the Emanator of Nihility, the ninth (IX) card of The Hermit – which sometimes indicates dissimulation, roguery, corruption – that may be the aeon's namesake

Settling Siren, the deep dream, and dream rot

This is something I can't present with accompanying art so I will present it with accompanying prose, from an anonymous archaeologist's research paper on the mechanism by which the very first human on Siren was 'born'. I wrote a whole bunch like this and I'd like to share it some day as a type of web serial thing, following two parallel in-universe stories separated by thousands of years (the story of Ishmael, the first human born on Siren, and the story of the archaeologist uncovering the past who was forced into hiding and had to publish this stuff anonymously) but it's early stages for now.

But one bit of the world that I'm happy with is the dream & delayed birth, a way to grow a human during long space voyages so that they can be old enough to work (or study, in this case) when the voyage is over. This means they grow up in a false reality, and may only take their first breaths when they're years old. More valuable humans just get cryogenically frozen and don't age, creating a two-tiered system. Anyway the writing below explains it better than I can, check it out

The Lonely Sailor was owned by Atom GeneWeave and would carry a cargo container full of fertilised Human eggs to the new world. These were known as embryos and were mostly held in a frozen state, but there were twenty of them which were not frozen. They were placed in false amniotic sacs and allowed to continue growing throughout the entire voyage of The Lonely Sailor, even though the adult Humans themselves would be frozen, too.

Dan Lorvis slotted his first viable attempt at life into the cargo hold last, knowing that it would be the first to wake. He used a computer machine called a Deep Dreamer to monitor the growing life, and encoded within it an operation called ‘Athletic_Boy_Childhood_03.deepdr‘. He wrote on the amniotic sac the name of his creation: Ishmael 1© property of ATOM GENEWEAVE®.

Dan Lorvis then settled himself into a sleeping chamber which would freeze him harmlessly for the duration of the voyage.

The journey from Ceti to Siren would take seven years. Ishmael grew from fertilised egg to embryo and then became a baby in the normal period of time that these things take. But he was not born then. He remained asleep, dreaming that he was living a Human childhood.

Contemporary scholars such as ourselves can only guess at what he dreamed of, as the memory encoded into him was designed to fade, leaving behind only the lessons that Atom felt were necessary for him to learn, to function normally and not emerge from the seven year journey in a feral state. He learned how to speak, how to read and write, all without ever having taken a single breath. When he was old enough, he moved his body as though he were engaging in games of chase and team sports, and this allowed his muscles to develop.

The embryo cargo pod was offloaded thirty-nine days after landing on Siren, still in the first year. Five days later, Ishmael’s amniotic sac was drained, and his deep dream interrupted by his birth.

The last moment of his encoded dream was common to all artificial dreams, designed to ease the transition into true waking life. He was falling asleep in his bed (an archaic sort of bower), his body feeling tired but satisfied after a day of typical, perfectly generic childhood games. He had something called a mother in this dream who pulled the blankets around his shoulders and kissed him as he drifted off, though he did not remember what their face looked like, only that they instilled within him a sense of perfect safety.

His moment of calm was soon eaten by sensation. It was cold, he realised. Colder than anything he had ever felt. The fluid that had supported him at a constant temperature for seven years was draining away and he reached out, to grab at the blanket he half-remembered. His nerves were alight with new sensations and the world was so bright it felt that he was staring into Odr’s eye.

Dan Lorvis described Ishmael as strong and healthy, but he didn’t feel that way. Everything was loud and bright and his body was so heavy. He had never truly experienced gravity, but that alone did not account for the disconnect. His dream had been the dream of a Precursor Human, a bipedal creature with a fully upright stance, straighter even than a shortwing’s, with no tail, no flippers, no phocid morphology. To the newborn Ishmael’s mind, he had just undergone a horrifying transformation, and his body was wrong.

Cherta, who gave their name to the wandering moon, was the fifth born beta phocid. There is very little to distinguish Cherta from the rest of the group, at this early stage, but I have on file their original description - “‘Cherta’, named for a sponsor of the project who donated three million nua*. Unisex ‘phocid’ of the Beta generation. Born age 10 years and 5 months, in [Year 3]. Melanistic colouring was chosen as protection against solar radiation, but it is expressed in heterogenous patches with a strong dorsal stripe. Length 5’1 nose to tailtip at time of birth and weight 54kg. Unusually violent birth, needed sedation.” In fact, Cherta assaulted Dan Loris’s assistants as they were born, reacting to the event as though it were an invasion of the bedroom of their dream. It was by all accounts an auspicious start compared to the others, and perhaps an indication that Cherta’s experience with the deep dream was not standard.

Cherta had fallen victim to another rare phenomenon of the incubator, referred to by Dan Loris as ‘dream rot’. This occurrence is a result of differences in the receiving brain, rather than the dream machine itself. The brain begins to understand, in some form, that what it is witnessing is not reality, and the structure of the dream begins to unravel.

At the time of Cherta’s delayed birth, the dream had been in the early stages of this process. If allowed to continue for too long, permanent damage to the psyche’s ability to judge reality is the result. Cherta would be haunted by this for the remainder of their life and suffer from regular seizures that severely reduced their ability to swim like any other phocid, but it was not severe enough to significantly alter their treatment compared to the other beta phocids.

In March 2007, Google’s then senior executive in charge of acquisitions, David Drummond, emailed the company’s board of directors a case for buying DoubleClick. It was an obscure software developer that helped websites sell ads. But it had about 60 percent market share and could accelerate Google’s growth while keeping rivals at bay. A “Microsoft-owned DoubleClick represents a major competitive threat,” court papers show Drummond writing.

Three weeks later, on Friday the 13th, Google announced the acquisition of DoubleClick for $3.1 billion. The US Department of Justice and 17 states including California and Colorado now allege that the day marked the beginning of Google’s unchecked dominance in online ads—and all the trouble that comes with it.

The government contends that controlling DoubleClick enabled Google to corner websites into doing business with its other services. That has resulted in Google allegedly monopolizing three big links of a vital digital advertising supply chain, which funnels over $12 billion in annual revenue to websites and apps in the US alone.

It’s a big amount. But a government expert estimates in court filings that if Google were not allegedly destroying its competition illegally, those publishers would be receiving up to an additional hundreds of millions of dollars each year. Starved of that potential funding, “publishers are pushed to put more ads on their websites, to put more content behind costly paywalls, or to cease business altogether,” the government alleges. It all adds up to a subpar experience on the web for consumers, Colorado attorney general Phil Weiser says.

“Google is able to extract hiked-up costs, and those are passed on to consumers,” he alleges. “The overall outcome we want is for consumers to have more access to content supported by advertising revenue and for people who are seeking advertising not to have to pay inflated costs.”

Google disputes the accusations.

Starting today, both sides’ arguments will be put to the test in what’s expected to be a weekslong trial before US district judge Leonie Brinkema in Alexandria, Virginia. The government wants her to find that Google has violated federal antitrust law and then issue orders that restore competition. In a best-case scenario, according to several Google critics and experts in online ads who spoke with WIRED, internet users could find themselves more pleasantly informed and entertained.

It could take years for the ad market to shake out, says Adam Heimlich, a longtime digital ad executive who’s extensively researched Google. But over time, fresh competition could lower supply chain fees and increase innovation. That would drive “better monetization of websites and better quality of websites,” says Heimlich, who now runs AI software developer Chalice Custom Algorithms.

Tim Vanderhook, CEO of ad-buying software developer Viant Technology, which both competes and partners with Google, believes that consumers would encounter a greater variety of ads, fewer creepy ads, and pages less cluttered with ads. “A substantially improved browsing experience,” he says.

Of course, all depends on the outcome of the case. Over the past year, Google lost its two other antitrust trials—concerning illegal search and mobile app store monopolies. Though the verdicts are under appeal, they’ve made the company’s critics optimistic about the ad tech trial.

Google argues that it faces fierce competition from Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, and others. It further contends that customers benefited from each of the acquisitions, contracts, and features that the government is challenging. “Google has designed a set of products that work efficiently with each other and attract a valuable customer base,” the company’s attorneys wrote in a 359-page rebuttal.

For years, Google publicly has maintained that its ad tech projects wouldn’t harm clients or competition. “We will be able to help publishers and advertisers generate more revenue, which will fuel the creation of even more rich and diverse content on the internet,” Drummond testified in 2007 to US senators concerned about the DoubleClick deal’s impact on competition and privacy. US antitrust regulators at the time cleared the purchase. But at least one of them, in hindsight, has said he should have blocked it.

Deep Control

The Justice Department alleges that acquiring DoubleClick gave Google “a pool of captive publishers that now had fewer alternatives and faced substantial switching costs associated with changing to another publisher ad server.” The global market share of Google’s tool for publishers is now 91 percent, according to court papers. The company holds similar control over ad exchanges that broker deals (around 70 percent) and tools used by advertisers (85 percent), the court filings say.

Google’s dominance, the government argues, has “impaired the ability of publishers and advertisers to choose the ad tech tools they would prefer to use and diminished the number and quality of viable options available to them.”

The government alleges that Google staff spoke internally about how they have been earning an unfair portion of what advertisers spend on advertising, to the tune of over a third of every $1 spent in some cases.

Some of Google’s competitors want the tech giant to be broken up into multiple independent companies, so each of its advertising services competes on its own merits without the benefit of one pumping up another. The rivals also support rules that would bar Google from preferencing its own services. “What all in the industry are looking for is fair competition,” Viant’s Vanderhook says.

If Google ad tech alternatives win more business, not everyone is so sure that the users will notice a difference. “We’re talking about moving from the NYSE to Nasdaq,” Ari Paparo, a former DoubleClick and Google executive who now runs the media company Marketecture, tells WIRED. The technology behind the scenes may shift, but the experience for investors—or in this case, internet surfers—doesn’t.

Some advertising experts predict that if Google is broken up, users’ experiences would get even worse. Andrey Meshkov, chief technology officer of ad-block developer AdGuard, expects increasingly invasive tracking as competition intensifies. Products also may cost more because companies need to not only hire additional help to run ads but also buy more ads to achieve the same goals. “So the ad clutter is going to get worse,” Beth Egan, an ad executive turned Syracuse University associate professor, told reporters in a recent call arranged by a Google-funded advocacy group.

But Dina Srinivasan, a former ad executive who as an antitrust scholar wrote a Stanford Technology Law Review paper on Google’s dominance, says advertisers would end up paying lower fees, and the savings would be passed on to their customers. That future would mark an end to the spell Google allegedly cast with its DoubleClick deal. And it could happen even if Google wins in Virginia. A trial in a similar lawsuit filed by Texas, 15 other states, and Puerto Rico is scheduled for March.

a fantasy, comedy story about a group of magic mercenaries tasked with ‘Keeping’ the peace between the human world of the mundane, and the Cursed World of monsters nd magic. The story follows the Keeper group known as the ‘Crows’ and their struggles with monster hunters, feral curses, and the mysteries that hide in the shadows of their own stories.

1. Canon I outright reject

That his actions in Crisis Core were insane, evil, or in any way made him a villain. Genesis may have been envious of Sephiroth, to a point, but he had hero-worshipped him since childhood. Some people seem to forget that context when they talk about the interactions between the three Firsts in Crisis Core (also the terrible English localization destroyed the plot of that game).

Genesis was a huge Sephiroth fangirl, as a kid. He wanted to be a hero too. He was told he would be. He spent his life up to that point training and working his ass off for Shinra, only to find out in the worst way possible that A: his entire existence was an intricately constructed web of lies, and B: he was going to die before he even got to start living. And it was all because of something the people he'd trusted and dedicated his life to did to him.

Of course he freaked out and ran away and started attacking Shinra, he was in a panic and doing everything he could to find a way to survive. Zack is the protagonist of Crisis Core, so Genesis is the antagonist, but Zack is working for the evil moustache-twirling villains, who are the real cause of all the conflict. Genesis never wanted world domination, he just wanted a fair goddamn chance.

13. Dumbest thing they’ve ever done

Sephiroth

Ok real answer: The dumbest thing he ever did was that shitty way he approached Sephiroth in the reactor, when he wanted his cells. However, I don't see it as the nasty, bitter verbal attack people seem to translate it as. That would make ZERO sense in the context of their friendship and even just the rest of the conversation.

I actually get the strong impression that Genesis was trying to do a "shock him with the cold hard truth and he'll see the light" thing. Also I think he truly thought that if Sephiroth understood that Shinra did the same things to him, he'd rebel against them too, and come to his side. He wasn't saying "you're a monster" he was saying "you're a monster just like me."

Tragically, he didn't bet on how mentally and emotionally fragile the "big strong hero" Sephiroth really was, or how deeply it would shatter him to be told he wasn't human. Sephiroth's mind rejected it so hard he had a psychotic break, after all. Of course he reacted badly to the way Genesis approached him.

But I don't think what Genesis said was meant to be as horrible as it sounded. His delivery was flippant and bitter because he was fucking pissed off at the world, not because he was really trying to hurt Sephiroth. It was a case of two well-meaning people crashing headfirst into each other's deepest wounds and disaster ensuing. A perfect tragedy.

49. Favorite toy as a child

Genesis was given pretty much whatever he wanted, as a child, and subsequently, didn't place much value at all on things. His fancy toys and games gathered dust in his too-large bedroom, that was filled with all the gifts his parents gave him in place of love and attention. The only way to get approval was to earn it, by constantly being exceptional, and better than other kids.

However, he had a wooden sword (rough hewn and amateurish in design, hardly more than a stick) that he clung to like it was the most valuable and precious object in all the world. His parents had no idea where he got it wanted him to throw it out, but he was fiercely protective of it.

He left it in his bedroom when he left Banora to join SOLDIER, and it can be assumed that it burned with the rest of the town. There is absolutely no proof that he went up to his old room and carried that one worthless little thing away with him, that would become the symbol of both the childhood dreams and the childhood friend, that he could never get back.

Really niche. The problem with PDF isn't just that it's owned with adobe, it's that it's by definition not designed to be compatible with reflowable text, and it sucks at doing many of the things people rely on it for.

Having a predetermined, static way of displaying a page is valuable for manuals and illustrated books. I don't know if most but certainly a very large portion of text based media—including academic literature, which is easily the worst offender in continuing to adhere to this trend, is primarily composed of sections that only contain text. Unless you need to make heavy use of columns and graphs for visual clarity, or are a magazine or some other type of publication where the style and layout is as important as the text itself, there's no advantage in mandating a specific page layout or fixed font size, only downsides. A "page" is such an utterly useless unit for controlling how and where an essay's text is displayed given that most people read on screens that are either tiny or the opposite of the aspect ratio that PDFs were designed to replicate, making non-reflowable documents an inherently inefficient medium to read on. There's a reason websites switched to reflowable layouts when smartphones started becoming popular, a static aspect ratio is not guaranteed in a digital environment, people can flip their phones or tablets for a wider viewing angle at any time. If someone wants to read your essay in italic comic sans on a 4 inch screen they should be able to with no major difficulties, without having to zoom-in to make the text readable. That's the way modern websites work, and part of the reason why smartphones were revolutionary in extending the number of people that could access the web.

The fact we have solidely transitioned to primarily consuming texts in a digital format for a few years now, and most academic publishers STILL insist on exclusively distributing their articles in PDF, a format whose sole advantage is mimicking an A4 page that the overwhelming majority of people are never going to print, at the expense of making it comfortable to read on small 6:13 phone screens or 16:9 monitors that people actually use, at the expense of being able to change font sizes, at the expense of anyone who is blind being able to use a screen reader, is one of the biggest travesties on the planet. It's nothing short of absurd that it has become the default format to a point people associate it with this type of media while having such a negative impact on accessibility, not the least of which being that copying text from a PDF is unrealible at best, it doesn't understand the concept of line breaks and inserts random symbols between paragraphs. It's one of the worst fucking things about trying to read about things I am interested in. People need for real to be shot for this.

New Ideas for HOTD Helaena Fashion pt.1

So she wears the same dress for how many days in a row???:

So new outfit it is.

I imagine everyone being dressed a bit more formal, as this is a political matter. However, Helaena is very much like Switzerland to me so like how Marcella used to wear pink and yellows instead of the harsher Lannister red and gold is what I imagine Helaena does. Perhaps a lighter green or a yellow, maybe even a blue for Dreamfyre instead of the harsher emerald green of house Hightower and what her mother usually wears, and a pink instead of the blood red Targaryen colors.

We‘ll start simple with the initial accessories, the tiara, necklace, perhaps the neckline of the dress.

So I don’t really feel like she might like to wear her formal circulet and would instead wear something like this:

Simply because I don’t think she is as focused on valuable possessions and how she appears as much. It still shows her royal status but it’s not as bold as a strictly gold ringlet. I also like the way that it’s braided in with her hair.

(Another thing I’m gonna add, the only thing I’d change from the original dress is the gold ornament across the chest. I’d have it go over the shoulders as well like in the art, but I’d also have it be like a necklace as well, looping around her neck)

As for her necklace, I wanted to incorporate some blue not only for Dreamfyre but I also headcanon that she wears sapphires sometimes in honor/support of Aemond:

I’d change the flower to a sapphire seven pointed star (also honoring Alicent’s faith) and those lines between the gold triangles would be sapphire as well.

As for the neckline I’d go with a folded over, off the shoulders, gold embroidered piece:

Just imagine this folded over a yellow shade of dress, not like a sickly yellow but perhaps like the colors we saw Mycella wear in the Water Gardens of Dorne:

The dress in question I would design like a mixture of these two, I repeat in design not color:

The first one, I like the idea of the gold boarding coming out to continue from beneath the one across the dress, to trail all the way down the from of it. I would make the rest of the dress (minus the center part) the shade of yellow that Mycella’s was and instead have simple embroidery of floral designs and perhaps spider webs as well.

As for the second one, I like the idea of the piece of fabric coming from the waist of the dress and I also like the bits of red that poke out from the sleeves. Obviously it wouldn’t come out of the shoulder as we stated it’d be off the shoulders, but it can be just below and at the bend of the elbow, with more gold embroidery folded over the wrist. The color of the fabric in question would be a pink color, again not the harsher colors of her house.

As for the hair, I’d still keep the braided crown but I’d just make it more intricate:

I love the extra, smaller braids added in and I also love a front braid coming back to greet the further back braided crown. And even though you can’t see it in this picture, I also love that it has small tendrils left free to frame her face.

What common/uncommon fear do they have?

Fear of being deafened in a way he cannot heal from - Caius's life and passion is performing to music. If he can't hear it, well... He was almost deafened by a Daughter of Cacophony having a lil' menty b, and that fear was brought to the forefront of his mind like, "oh fuck I could lose everything if this went.”

Do they have any pet peeves?

He cannot stand being referred to as 'ordinary'. That impression comes with the idea that he is boring, that he can be ignored and taken advantage of, etc. He'd rather be hated than not be thought of at all. Spending time as a street kid, and later, a sex worker really laid in this dislike of people treating him as being nothing, something to be used, and after Embrace, he's found it pretty intolerable.

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?

1. A battered and neglected old laptop. He's had it since he was human, and it's barely working, but he doesn't use it for much more than web browsing and watching movies.

2. A contacts case with violet contacts on his bedside table. His eyes are actually blue, like Clover's, in drag, but he feels the need to be 'otherworldly' when he's himself. (Also he's become too committed to the bit! Could you imagine the talk at Elysium??) He cannot stand people knowing his true eye color, with one recent exception.

He's probably at a 7, just higher than average. However, because Caius shows his body a lot, he does take great pains to avoid getting injured, especially aggravated damage. A scar would mess with his appearance and his livelihood. If it came to it, he does know a Tzimisce in town who he'd definitely resort to asking for help, even if he's creeped out by Dr. Moth.

Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure? (or freeze and fawn)

Depending on the situation, Caius's preference is to flee, but if cornered or if he's there for a purpose, he's a vicious fighter. (4 dots of Celerity goes brrr.) In a bad social situation, he will fawn to get through it, as you can always plot revenge, especially after humiliation.

What animal represents them best?

This one is difficult! I'm gonna say the shrike. He's got plumage, likes to sing, and they're tiny, vicious songbirds that impale their prey. Caius is a small, deadly, pretty thing, and he's not afraid to make someone suffer to serve his purposes.

He loves music, of course, but singing is special; he's only recently started singing in performance. Originally, he sang only with his mothers (his sire and his human mother). Guardian Oc Drawings I never finished.

I was going to fit text in describing Who she is and what she does but couldnt format it in a way I liked. The main goal was drawing something that look like Destiny gear and weaponry without using the game's gear. Everything on her (minus the tangled web cloak) is my own design.

If you have the skills for it, I really would recommend taking on designing your own guardian armor and weaponry

Brighton is only one of the names she would take, she changed her name many times throughout her life - mostly and especially to move on from certain periods.

She was raised in a small city in Scotland, initially suffocating several times buried in dirt and swaddled in a fallen cloak.

Her ghost "L" had hoped for a Titan or a Warlock, someone witty, someone who could keep up with her and push her farther then before! She's eaten those words time and time again.

L's guardian's first actions brought back to the world of the living were to approach a Fallen patrol explaining - in Eliksni - that she was a guardian and her ghost had warned her of something called the "Fallen" in the area that she could protect them from.

After some time and explanation both her and them split ways on fragile peace, but Brighton refused to return to the city. She had decided the Eliksni were her people and she'd serve whoever would take her.

Whoever ended up being Taniks. She was chaff to them. Something that could be shot and torn apart by the Hive and then put itself back together. The only kindness offered were sincere, yet harsh, warnings of how else other crueler Eliksni might abuse her.

Though Brighton couldn't officially join the House Wolves, she could wear their colours as she served her new Queen. When the Wolves went traitor she swore her allegiance was only to Queen Mara, but made it clear when she assisted Skolas's escape from the guardians.

Her choice to spare the guardian she killed both lead to her capture, and to her freedom. The warlock, an old woman named Lee exchanged her debt in capturing Skolas to take Brighton under her wing. Under her Wardship, she was given chance after chance to prove that her mistakes were just happenstance.

Brighton flourished under Lee's leadership, her worse impulses refined into certainties and determination. All but a pacifist and undeniably a fallen sympathizer, but not unwilling to put a bullet where it needs to be. By the point of the Age of Triumph, she's slowly earned both the trust of the Vanguard and her Ghost.

L can, though not without some argument, admit she's finally proud of her guardian.
