On 14 June, 2017, 10-year-old Vanya Kotov from the Chelyabinsk region in Russia, was reported missing. According to his mother, the boy left home on a bicycle towards the library for books, but did not return home. Volunteers flocked to the small town of South Urals from all over the region. Divers combed the local reservoirs with cameras and video recorders, but there was no sign of him. Almost a month later on 10 July, 2017, the naked and dismembered body of Vanya was found. A 29-year-old man named Andrej Shamygin is known to be the killer after he showed police where the boy’s body was. Vanya’s body has since been sent for an Autopsy. It is suspected that he was also raped. On 15 July, 2017, 29-year-old Andrej Shamygin committed suicide in his cell.
