Terrador

Day 6 of @the-seven-clans-week challenge brings us to the Vapran Clan, and for that I give you a bright representative. This is Terrador, everyone. A young inventor.

I wanted one of the Gelflings I made to be a nerdy boi, and I think I captured that well with Terrador. I hope y’all like his design. I’m certainly proud of how he turned out.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!!

I made these a few weeks ago before I went full throttle with the big Gelfling oc project. Just some happy couples in winter sweaters lol

The first is the sweet Adora x Takoda ship! Aaahhh they’re too precious. I can’t wait to draw more of them because there’s a bunch to explore.

The second is Tau and Enyo who I believe are more flirting with each other. They’re interested in one another but neither has made a move to deepen the bond to a romantic one. Tau was originally going to have a beefy Dousan boyfriend because my sister demanded it lol Buut I feel like Tau is interested more in pretty softer featured Gelfling.

Enyo is on her road to becoming a better Gelfling. Some time after Fleur leaves Stone-in-the-wood is when Enyo explores Thra and begins rethinking certain beliefs her parents taught her. Fleur 100% calls Enyo out when she sees Enyo dating someone who isn’t Stonewood. Enyo’s growth is another story to be told.

We might see more Tau x Enyo because I think they look cute lol

Lastly, we have the Stonesan parents Maeve x Bhihaar! I love them and they are that married couple who is just so happy to be married and unafraid of PDA. I believe the PDA took some time for Bhihaar to get use to but he enjoys holding Maeve’s hands and pecking her cheek in public. Maeve on the other hand is unashamed- she loves her man and boy does she have a good man 😆

I have another set but I just haven’t finished it yet, so be prepared to see that in time

Day 2: Vapran

Here's the second day of @the-seven-clans-week , Vapran!

It's a little drabble about how my deaf Vapran-Grottan boy, Ronan, became a Paladin recruit!

Life on the streets of Ha'rar was rough, despite how glamorous it was seen as. One example of this was an older teenager, around 18, named Ronan.

He was a kind soul who cared for his mother and younger brother, scraping off from whatever he could.

The snobby ones were the easiest.

Ronan kept his stealing habits from his mother for as long as he could, saying the money was from his job at the tavern..well uh..it was mostly true to say the least.

As much as he had to steal..he kept trying to learn as much as he could. Often going..or technically sneaking into the library.

For instance, he read books about teaching of the Dousan tradition Vojeye and taught himself and his family it so they could communicate better!

There were things he longed to experience…the Sifan ships upon the Silver Sea, the Grottan caves of his father's origin, the Spriton fields and celebrations, the Stonewood town and Endless Forest, traveling with the Dousan and hearing the drumming of the Drenchen.

But..he knew he most likely could never experience those with the All-Maudra's Paladins on his back!

Hearing the subtle foot stomps of the Paladins, the muffled shouting, he ran as fast as he could with the stolen food and money.

He turned a corner and panted heavily, hiding in the shadows and seeing the Paladins keep running.

He grunted and winced in pain, a terrible high pitched ringing in his ears that occasionally erupted ever since the..accident with his late stepfather.

He groaned in pain, and when it died down, he slumped down and sat on the cold ground.

He let the snow fall onto his hair and face, and saw the Citadel, home of the All-Maudra and her three daughters. Ever since he was young, he wanted to be a Paladin..but now..as a wanted criminal and a partially-deaf thief..that future was dim.

Until..the Captain of the Paladins, Princess Tavra, came up to him.

And suddenly..he saw that future brighten before him.

A Gelfling of the Vapra Clan, Veelahi is a castle guard who always dreamed of ambitious positions. A curious girl, Veelahi's thirst for the truth often got her into trouble back home in Ha'rar; in the Castle of the Crystal, that curiosity was seldom tolerated and often resulted in a punishment worse than the loss of her rank: guard duty outside a door forbidden to be open by all but the Lords of the Crystal. Until one day when the door was opened from the inside, and the person she met would change her attitude for good...

In the Natives AU, obviously no Castle of the Crystal, the Crystal of Truth is out in the air like it always was meant to be with Aughra never too far. But no matter how she was always around, with @dracocheesecake we agree many people notably the Gelfling offered to assist her in protecting the Crystal. Not that she thought it was needed, in fact protesting, but she couldn't oppose the enthusiasm. Pluuus she DOES prefer Gelfling so using the pretext they are closer to Thra anyway let them send guards even if she deemed it useless ; still not apeasing jealousies from other people NOTABLY Skeksis, even though sometimes with exceptions Aughra does accept guards from other people to appease minds and rekindle her contact with them. Since she is motherless in the AU (we love the theory Raunip is half UrSkek in the canon verse but since here no MalVa well no Raunip) it also helped her keep company and not feel alone as grumpy as she seems. So there are guards of every clan, Dousan too, residing in a camp not far

That's why even in that AU Mira (whom I remind does NOT die since she was never drained... neither does Tolyn sadly, faithful and bootlicking to Aughra here), Rian and Gurjin know each other and are friends and still fucking up and goofying around

In faaaact one day they mess around so much another day they disobeyed they NEARLY damage the Crystal one of them ending up on top of it. HERESY, all the Gelfling are furious and pit on them, Aughra both trying to ease the tension protecting thel from others giving a form of wisdom, but herself bopping them on the head and demanding that they learn responsibility and that for now she wants them out of her sight. Ordon is very disappointed (daddy issues in that AU too) and since in a way this was an awful diplomatic incident sends them all 3 to Ha'rar court to let the All Maudra decidd what to do with them or at least to Mira who is a Vapra. Mayrin decides it is best to teach them a lesson and reinforce her alliance with the Skeksis Empire to send them to the capital at the Emperor's castle for an exchange of guards for a whole trine whether they like it or not. Skeksis answer positive but send only one guard, considering and precising so that one Skeksis is worth 3 Gelfling (racism that already ticks off the 3 buddies and Brea who overhears it). The guard, my OC SkekFih (him and no another because being the General's and Ritual Master's son in law he is considered as the highest choice... also a side of their mind hopes to get rid of him that way lol), is not sent at the Crystal which is neutral ground but in Ha'rar for that punishment turned diplomatic tactic to strengthen the alliance with the Gelfling, the trio and SkekFih in a way tasked to be ambassadors during that trine. Rian Gurjin and Mira having tge pressure NOT to fuck up outside of their comfort zone with a task given by the All Maudra herself everybody hoping it would help them mature up

Rian, Gurjin and Mira do not get a very warm welcome despite being given a cheerful tour of the castle by the SkekEi Chatelaine (who may or may not say some microaggressions too), feeling the mockeries even if whispered in Skeksish between Skeksis behind their back they don't understand, and some kinds of passive aggression from some courtiers as forms of provocation and lack of respect in general do occur from the hosts who are sure they are superior and want to give a hint once again (SkekVar and SkekAyuk having the dish "Gelfling essence" served in the barracks to "welcome" them. At first glance it does seem great since it is a luxury and does taste good, but given the name and the taunting on how it is obtained from Gelfling resources therefore they could say they do "drain" them and hear all the snickers Mira and Rian do not savor it or feel comfortable Gurjin gave 0 fuck it ate it all) meanwhile SkekFih is as honeyed and perfect as possible among the Paladins to be in the All Maudra's good graces, but really he actually feels contempt about these disgusting featherless midgets and is actually not happy himself to be there (he IS aware it is half to get rid of him and he misses his family) and writes anything he considers as interesting to keep in mind during his patrol or when he overhears conversations to his mate SkekLong the Ritual Apprentice in case, who knows

So when SkekSo ends up attacking and declaring war with no warning or official agreement 6 unum into that trine, Mira, Gurjin and Rian who already sensed something was wrong and were already feeling a harsher rise of a tension got imprisonned as war hostages and SkekFih reacted as soon as he heard the first news of villages being set ablaze by flying the coup thanks to his mate's letter (that explained him what strategy the Emperor, the General and the Spy Master had chosen and giving him a 2nd letter for Mayrin feigning to need him back for an emergency) before being potentially arrested as a hostage or killed not without having killed the messengers and hidden their bodies discreetly (which Brea would find under the throne when discovering the secret passage he had discovered first and did not know someone else would) so the news would hopefully arrive too late to Mayrin's ears to react properly (and which would result in "there is no war, it is just a rumor, we had no declaration and no news, proof the Skeksis are still trading with us whe must NOT attack first for simole paranoid tales" for a short time especially on Seladon's side)

We are yet to determine more details, we just know the trio will escape (and Mira had recently found out from the Doctor of the Castle after fainting during training - which earned more remarks how Gelfling are weak - she is pregnant and doesn't know how to tell Rian with all that frenzy) and as soon as SkekFih returns home he comes sure he will congratulated by his father-in-law for his precious help and initiatives but is just pushed away with a "BAH YOU WERE A COWARD, I'D HAVE KILLED THE ALL MAUDRA IF I WERE THERE YOU JUST WANTED TO FLEE" from SkekVar. Dude wants his approval into the family too hard

Meeting SkekNor:

Note: This is for a good friend of mine in the fandom called Limbo for Eternal Love: A Dark Crystal AU. I will be adding their Oc to my story as I thought it would be a nice shoutout and I wanted to see what they thought of meeting SkekSha and the other Skeksis for the first time. This would also be a preview for an upcoming chapter in my story.

A few days after her encounter with Aughra, SkekSha is sitting on her throne. SkekSo had sent a message to some Vapra Gelfling known as the Merchant and their honored “guest” as really SkekSo wanted to drain them of their essence. However, what the Skeksis weren’t expecting was that this Gelfling was no Gelfling. From the moment the guest walked into the throne room however, SkekSha realized right away that this Gelfling was no Gelfling at all but another Skeksis. A Skeksis that none of the Skeksis at the Castle recognized. SkekLi who had now been announcing SkekSha to visitors to the Castle and who had been acting as her new bodyguard in SkekNa’s place stated "You stand in the presence of SkekSha of the Skeksis. Mate to Emperor SkekSo and Mother to his heirs Princess SkekZi, SkekVrie the First Lieutenant, SkekNi the Healer and SkekVex the Overseer. The Empress of the Skeksis.”

This new Skeksis was clearly nervous from the moment she walked into the room as she bowed respectfully and said “Your Grace! It is wonderful to finally meet you. Forgive me but I believe once laid eyes on you before when I was much younger. You look as beautiful as I remember you. Of course back then I had no idea who you were.” SkekSha then said with a kind smile as some of the other Skeksis looked at the newcomer with much interest “What is your name?” To which the female Skeksis said “My name is SkekNor your Grace.” SkekSha then called “Podlings!” Causing two Podling servants to come bumbling out at once as she said “This poor Skeksis looks famished. Please get her something to eat.” The Podlings nodded and immediately ran off to the kitchento prepare some food for the Merchant as SkekSha stated to SkekSil, SkekVar, SkekZok, SkekLach, SkekOk, SkekEkt and SkekLi “Skeksis this new friend of ours should be given a proper welcome. SkekEkt please make some robes for SkekNor.” Causing SkekEkt to reply as she bowed “Yes your Grace, I will work on new robes for SkekNor at once.” Before she went off to start making SkekNor some better clothing as SkekSha said “Tell me SkekNor have you ever tasted Gelfling essence before?” SkekNor then said with reply “No your Grace I haven't. I’ve been living amongst Gelfling ever since I can remember. Why would I ever consider consuming their essence?” SkekZieZu answered “Because to live here at the Castle with us you’ll need to learn our ways. Recently we’ve been consuming Gelfling essence as our bodies have been decaying and failing. It’s helped us restore our youth. You should really try some.” Then SkekZi walked up and handed SkekNor a bottle of essence as SkekSha stated “That is my eldest daughter SkekZi. She brings you a serving of essence to try. I promise you won’t regret it and you’ll feel really good.” After sniffing it and then cautiously taking a sip SkekNor just like the others couldn't help herself but drink the whole bottle as she said feeling much more youthful “You were right your Grace. It does taste really good and I also feel so much younger.”

Just then SkekSo walked into the throne room and said hearing all the commotion as he walked towards his throne “What’s going on darling?” To which SkekSha replied “Emperor, you know that Vapran Gelfling you asked for?” Causing him to nod as she stated “Well…the Merchant is no Gelfling but is in fact another one of us.” SkekSo then laid his eyes on SkekNor and stated "Hmm…intriguing.” SkekNor immediately bowed with respect as she said growing nervous as she was quite scared of him having heard from the Gelfling of SkekSo’s nature especially his protective nature around SkekSha “Emperor, I’m grateful to be in your presence.” Unlike SkekSha though SkekSo was a lot more direct and to the point as he said with a light growl “What is your name Merchant?” Causing SkekNor to reply nervously as she shifted just a little out of nervousness “SkekNor your highness.” Wanting to know why she hadn't shown herself to the other Skeksis before SkekSo said as he eyed her up clearly trying to establish his authority over her from the start as he said “Why haven't you shown up here before SkekNor?” To which she replied “Honestly I had no idea that there were other Skeksis besides myself your highness. I grew up amongst the Vapra and was accepted into a family of Gelfling. I saw your mate once on what I assume now would of been one of her many trips to meet with the All-Madura and was taken back by how beautiful she was and still is. I also saw SkekUng once when I was younger but he scared me quite a bit unlike your mate. I heard about the rumors circulating throughout the Gelfling about our race being traitors and I came to the conclusion that I had to bring myself before you and your court as I knew Gelfling would start growing suspicious of me as well and I probably wouldn't be safe amongst them for much longer so I left my Gelfling family. They were heartbroken when I left but since they did love me very much they knew it was probably the best option for me. I understand now that our race is my true family. If you don’t accept me though I understand. I know you all have your ranks established and wouldn't want to get in the way if it’s a bother to you.” Feeling touched by SkekNor’s story SkekSha stated “Of course we welcome you to live amongst us SkekNor. The more allied with each other we are the better our future will be. Isn’t that right Sire?” As she looked to SkekSo hoping that her mate would accept their new friend even though she knew he would be suspicious of her as she’d have to earn her place amongst them just as all the other Skeksis did and SkekSo said with a growl “Darling may I remind you that we’ve only just met this Skeksis. We don’t know a whole lot about her and wether or not we could trust her.” Trying to win favor with SkekSo and show that she can be useful SkekNor stated “Emperor let me prove myself to you. Allow me to serve under your mate for a while.” Immediately growing protective over his mate however SkekSo says with a growl again “Absolutely not!” SkekSha though states liking the idea “Oh babe come on you are being ridiculous. I would love to have help from another female Skeksis. Sometimes female Skeksis feel the most comfortable talking to other females about certain things that a male wouldn’t understand.” SkekSo then grumbled slightly before he stated “Fine! SkekNor I will allow you to serve under my beautiful mate as you suggested however if you give me any reason at all to believe you a threat especially to her then I won't be as reasonable and you will be punished severely. Surely you are aware that I am not at all merciful to those that displease me.” To which SkekNor nods as she said in reply “Yes Emperor I understand.”

SkekSo then stated his terms with her as he said “You will take care of the Empress’s needs as she requests of you. You will help her get ready in the morning, help her dress and whatever else she requires assistance with. In return you will have a much better roof over your head and a meal every night with us. Is that understood?” Causing the Merchant to reply "Yes your highness I accept your terms and conditions. I will prove my worth to you and all the other Skeksis here in court that I belong here.” Afterwards, SkekSo answered “Good, your duty starts from this moment on. Be assured that I’ll be keeping an eye on you.” She then bows as she replied “Yes Emperor, with haste.” Before she went over and stood by SkekSha’s throne. SkekSha then said with a whisper “Don’t worry, he’ll warm up to you. Right now with the possibility of a Gelfling Resistance growing he’s under a lot more stress then usual. He also worries about me a lot so don’t take it the wrong way, you’ll be a permanent figure in court in due time.” Making SkekNor state in reply “Thank you your Grace.” Causing SkekSha to reply “Please call me by name. You don’t need to address me formally all the time. I’m not my mate when it comes to formality in court.” Only for SkekNor to reply “It’s no problem your Grace really. But if you are alright with it then I’ll call you however you want me to.” SkekSha then said trying to make SkekNor feel better knowing she was probably a little stressed out and nervous “I think you’ll be a wonderful addition to the court SkekNor.” To which SkekNor said with a light blush having not expected such a compliment from such a high ranking Skeksis “Thank you your Grace.” Causing SkekSha to smile as it seemed as though SkekNor was slowly making herself at home.

POV: this post is gonna hit the nostalgia for some of you lol

This series is an ode/friendship letter to 2007 - 2012 AMVs but with a Gelfling twist lol One of these Gelfs is listening to Cascada- we all know which song lol

Only six so far. Idk who will be the cut off but I know who is gonna be in the next bunch!

I had come back from Anime NYC when I sat at a pizzeria that played; Pain by Three Days Grace and when I tell you my nostalgia ignited- I remembered the early days of YouTube (the anime side of it) and the thousands of AMVs my sister and I would watch. Then I also remembered those iPod anime compilations some people posted where it mimicked the iPod ads and used silhouettes of said characters.

OMG the music! The AMVs with the ICONIC songs of the genre and era of early internet anime fandom. The endearing moviemaker watermarks, filters, and transitions. Fanart used without the artist’s knowledge or consent. A lot of dance pop. I was thrown back and it only continued when my sister and I reminisced and listened to some of our favorite AMV songs.

What a marvelous time. Literally any song/most songs you typed in would have an amv, or a slideshow. I believe many of the AMVs my sister and I watched are either deleted, privated or taken down for copyright. The worst is a, Nightwish Sleeping Sun AMV that was BEAUTIFUL sad but well paced, but I believe it’s gone because I can’t find it anymore.

Present day AMVs are good- I saw a recent one for Demon Slayer S2 that was chef’s kiss. The crisp animation makes them more epic compared to the charming but also kinda wonky animated clips in AMVs of anime before 2010-ish.

This was also a mini test to see how recognizable some of my Ocs are when they’re just a silhouette. I’m gonna tag their names below but for funsies in my long description I won’t name them although the placement of a few of them is gonna give it away lol

2 of these Ocs belong to my dear friend @jack-toons / @myfanartblogplusshippingtrash Again, I think we can all tell who they are because 1) their characters have strong silhouettes. And 2) the Gelfling they’re next to give it away lol

I made her a while ago with the help of my home girl @thanatasia of course ! I Actually brain stormed her thinking she’d be good for a Dark Crystal role playing game. She’s a timid and sheltered character from an aristocratic family in Ha’rar who unexpectedly decides to explore the world after finding a particular creature of Thra in a place it shouldn’t be …

The first post are some clothing designs for her, I liked them all but I think the second stood out the most so I went with it. The rest are some colors schemes I played with, I thought blue suited her more

The Hidden Truth of Thra - Chapter 1

It was a really windy night in the caves of Grot and most of the gelfling were already prepared for that as it was the time of the trine for the winds to get stronger.

It was nearly midnight and about almost everyone in the caves would be asleep. Except for one particular gelfling. She left the house and decided to go and see the nurlocs. She was feeling depressed and sad about something or rather someone.

She closed her eyes and let the memories of her past take over. Again.

"Don't worry maudra Argot , lf the Skeksis even try lay a hand on me , I'll finally put my bombthrowing skills to use".

" I know that you're capable of taking out the Skeksis, it's just that the prophecy says otherwise.

And with that she begins to recite the prophecy in written in Grottan.

'A Grottan gelfling with a gentle heart will serve the prophecy to defeat the Skeksis, but will pay the price for the Skeksis corruption.

A Brave Stonewood guard will lead the battle of resistance to the Skeksis, but will face many hardships and loses.

An Clever Princess from the Vapra clan will succeed at finding the truth of the Skeksis, but will have to face betrayal and loss.

These three will unite the gelfling clans.'

" Ma,if that prophecy is actually true, then the Grottan is me, Stonewood guard is Ordon and the Vapra is obviously Mayrin, no arguing about that one."

"Au'ran, you heard what the prophecy said , you are going to suffer a lot and if by chance you are not the prophecy, then it is your childling , Deet".

"I can't let any harm come to her , her father is already dead because of the arathim wars and I can't even stay long with her , because I have been summoned by the so called lords and I might not come back.

Ma , promise me that you will take care of her , if not find her loving parents who will take care of her."

" I promise , but if you die by the Skeksis, all your memories will go to her and the curse is that she won't be able to share them by dreamfasting.

A horn is sounded and Au'ran knows that it is time to leave. She moves towards Deet's cradle and tells her something.

" No matter how far I am, you will always be in my heart and I am always watching you , if I'm not the prophecy, then you have a great future ahead of you. I promise that you will always be my little nurloc , no matter how big you grow."

And with that Au'ran seals her fate by leaving, as she already know that she is going to die.

Deet try's not to cry but she just can't stop her tears from flowing. The memorie always seem to come back no matter what and they are always painfull each time.

She wipes her tears and makes a promise that she will fulfil one day :

' I promise mother, that no matter what , I will protect my family and all the people of Grot, and I swear to mother Aughra that I will make each one of the Skeksis pay for what they've done'.
