I didn’t realize we were also doing propaganda for our WoL’s!! Um, so I’ll just post some picks of Vastha [I almost typed Vorsta bc that’s what two of their friends call them for fun/jokes lmao. It’s okay, he’s got funny names for them both too!] Some of these pics are older-- you can tell by the haircut. Also I’m putting it under a cut, not very conducive to helping as propaganda I knowwww, because the pictures are massive and tumblr won’t reformat them to be next to one another.

Anyway, Vastha isn’t up yet, but he will be in the future! Vote on @woltourney ​ for my handsome, transmasc [he/they] gay, blueberry cat <3 He’s super friendly and nice and will cheer you up and cook you a nice meal :D Oh man, I wish I could use some scenery pictures as propaganda-- if only because his major hobby is scenery photography.

Which Doctor Who creatures, benign and malicious alike, comprise your top ten favorites and why?

Daleks, because they are adorable and sassy and an homage to two different great H.G. Wells novels.

The Ood, because every story with them gave them wonderful new dimensions that made you look at all their previous appearances in a new light, and they often provided a well-reasoned counterpoint to the "humans are special" narrative that Doctor Who is otherwise very fond of embracing.

The Sontarans, because they're a good mix of funny and threatening.

The Cybermen, because they're a compelling concept.

The Ice Warriors, because they look cool and their queen is hot

We've seen Shadow pop up here and there in supplemental sets over the past few years (Dauthi Voidwalker, Minas Morgul, Vastha Nerada) -- what are the odds of Shadow appearing as a theme in a supplemental set (or, dare I ask, a theme in a premiere set)?

Not super high. The mechanic works in the biosphere of limited, but just becomes unblockable in larger constructed formats.

I haven't posted any recent Vastha pictures here (mostly because desktop is a nightmare for me to use ugh). But here are some calm and casual pics of them just relaxing.

i'm sick right now but i got tired of laying in bed so i got up and made this doodlepage. various WoLs, feat. @mistdrinkersblade 's Syla, @wanderer-of-light 's Vastha, @the-littlest-kojin 's Shio, and my own Sae'pheli'ehva.

(I need to say that english isn’t my native language. I tried to make the sentences correct, so if you reading a sentences that doesn’t make sense I’m sorry)

So Youtube recommended me a clip of Doctor Who and that clip make me wanted to watch the whole episode again. While watching it, I couldn't stop thinking about Me and My Shadow.

What is this episode ? Well, is actually a two part episode who's title is "The Library of Silence" and "The Forest of the Dead". (If you haven't saw this episode you should probably watch it, it's really great)

In this episode the Doctor and everybody else meet a new enemy : The Vashta Nerada, the piranhas of the air WHO IS A LITTERAL SHADOW. 

So now you understand why I couldn't stop thinking about Me and My Shadow while watching this episode. And now here I am, imagine how the Vashta Nerada would work in the world of Me and My Shadow :

Since the Vashta Nerada is a litteral shadow, it would be logical for them to be in the Shadow World. I like to think that the Vashta Nerada is feared by every other shadows, even by Shadow Dan. And that’s mostly because they need to eat, they are carnivorous after all. 

(I think the shadows living in the Shadow World, and therefore Shadow Dan, doesn’t really need to eat for staying alive. Daniel can eat his food, and Shadow Dan would imitates him by eating the food’s shadow, but I don’t think it’s vital for him as is for Daniel. I think Shadow Dan eat just for the fun, but except for that he doesn’t really need it. The only vital thing for Shadow Dan is Daniel, if something bad happen to Daniel, Shadow Dan is doom) 

To get to eat, I think the Vashta Nerada will have to go to the Human World or like I liked to call it, the Light World. (I just think it sound better than “the Human World”) I liked to think that for going in the Light World, they need to hold on a shadow who got a caster, and when the human pass by a ray of light, his shadow got transfered into his world with the Vastha Nerada who still got a hold on the shadow. And now the Vastha Nerada can calm they’re hunger by eating the human, making him and his shadow disappered.

Because a shadow couldn’t live without a human, right ?

And that’s is also why the Vastha Nerada is feared in the Shadow World, they would do anything, even killing other shadow for calming they’re hunger. 

So the other shadows avoid them, because they’re dangerous.

So now I imagine the one who should have been the villain in the movie (if I’m not mistaken it was supposed to be Big Charles, but right now I’m not sure) making a deal with the Vashta Nerada. Asking them to help him take control of the Light World and when they took control of it they would got the possibility to eat every human they want, with nobody able to stop them. 

So they accept.

But the two of them didn’t think about Daniel and Shadow Dan who come against they’re plans.

The villain’s henchmens will try to stop these two there from harming the plan, but that didn’t succeed. So the Vashta Nerada as to take care of this two idiots by themself. So they go to the Light World, with this time something in mind eating killing Daniel Grubb and consequently his shadow, Dan.

In the Light World, at some point, Shadow Dan would notice the Vashta Nerada and will quickly understand that Daniel is in danger. (And of course the Vashta Nerada has to appeared when Daniel is in a date with Heidi) So Shadow Dan take control of Daniel and make him run away (leaving his date behind without any logical explanation). 

So Daniel is (of course) mad, and ask why did he take control of his body for fleeing and then Shadow Dan explain to him the Vastha Nerada and how dangerous they could be.

And don’t we forget that the Vastha Nerada don’t have a weakness. The only thing you can do for staying alive is to run. Run and keep running.

But I’m sure Daniel and Shadow Dan will find a way to escape the Vashta Nerada. This two dorks will alwalys find a way to get out of trouble situation.

Here is all of Vastha’s hairstyles + highlight changes through all the expansions (so far); newest to oldest! The first picture I took last week, and the very last one I took a bit into ARR (can’t remember exactly where I was in that story unfortunately).

“But where’s his little nose mark in all the more recent pictures?” Good question! Lore wise: I had him add it on after the main EW story as a mark of such a high success in doing the impossible, but also following the lore for Keeper of the Moon face paint lore in it being readiness to continue to hunt and take down things only a WoL can; willing to carry that burden of blood on his hands fully due to the impossibility of anyone else being able to handle such a burden-- let alone attempt. Not lore wise: I... didn’t know I had another option for face paint open until around EW when I went and made him the height I always thought he was but wasn’t really bc I play with a lot of tall people in game.

Which also leads me to want to talk about his face paint in general! This will go under a cut tho bc this is already very long!! So thank you if you read! @woltourney

As is known, Keeper of the Moon Miqo’te’s face paint is very important them them [taken from the wiki!]:

The ritual application of war paint to the face is still regularly practiced before going on the hunt, a tradition symbolizing their readiness to stain their hands with blood, as well as sending a message to their gods that they are prepared to serve them as warriors in the afterlife should they fall. It is believed the vivid colors grant lunar powers.

Now, Vastha’s are very bright, considering they’re mint colored! He chose that color due to his family more or less running off everyone getting a specific color; though in his family they keep that color and wear it in their hair (highlights/dyed tips/etc) if they aren’t going out hunting or to fight. With Vastha being the youngest and going out to adventure, his mother helped him pick a color and his sisters helped paint his face before he was to leave home.

He picked one of the brightest colors possible that they had access too at home (and one that wasn’t already taken), wanting to comfort his family that he would be safe and would be strong enough for the journey ahead of him. While he doesn’t entirely subscribe to the last bit of the blurb above with serving a god in the afterlife, the rest of it he does believe and follow; so he maintains and keeps his face paint very clean/redoes it after combat. The paint has extra meaning due to how it was done before leaving home, so he is much more on top of maintaining the paint than he would otherwise if he had done it himself.

It’s incredibly rare to see them without their face paint, maybe one or two times in the middle of reapplying has anyone around Vastha ever seen their face without the mint colored markings. At this point in their life, they feel naked without the paint on; so to see them without the paint is actually a very special and almost vulnerable thing.

Oh! I should mention; there is a span of time you can see in the pictures above where the color in his hair isn’t mint, but a faded blue! That was around HW... To avoid spoilers, it’s kind of a “if you know, you know” around when that change occurred. Due to That Event (tm), Vastha felt it was more right to lighten the color due to the helplessness in that moment and that he didn’t deserve so much protection or gift of power from the moon or any lunar power. Eventually he came to terms with it all and redid his hair to the proper color, but it took a very long time for that reconciliation and coping to happen.
