those collapsing vectors comics have been living rent free in my head. your art is to evocative and emotional, you can tell what the characters are feeling, like in the art of the portal fight, or like the other ask pointing out stan just gripping ford tight. but ford also holding him so gently in return, you make me insane with these i love it, these two brothers ruin me with their messy relationship
thank you so much!! i cannot express how much i appreciate your words <333 it has been a very long time since i've had the energy to draw so much and even step out of my comfort zone to try different styles. it makes the fact that people enjoy my art feel so much more impactful.
(that being said, these two goofballs make me want to eat a table with their inability to just talk, so i expect i will not be running out of things to draw for a long while yet!)

Chaotix Detective Agency! :)
I presume this is for the ❤️🩹? ^-^
They're a group of goofballs who've really grown on me since I started writing fanfics that feature them! I like the fact that they're comic relief and I think the way they interact with each other and the rest of the cast are really funny. But simultaneously, I appreciate that they are really good at what they do! Vector really is a good detective who can figure out the truth from just the smallest details, Espio really is a skilled ninja who thrives on danger, and Charmy has multiple moments wherein he gets a chance to shine despite being the silly li'l kid character. I feel like it would have been easy to make them exclusively bumbling try-hards who never succeed in anything, but like almost all Sonic characters, they've got those extra layers that greatly flesh them out. Espio is definitely my favourite because I think he's the coolest, but Vector and Charmy have both endeared themselves to me as well! <3

Lanolin being a killjoy definitely stands out due to her complete lack of any good qualities to make up for it. Shadow definitely can be a killjoy: he's also simply cool and firmly on the side of good, though different and more forceful in his methods than how Sonic tends to tackle things. Same for Knuckles with his gruffness and short temper, but you can easily see how much he cares about his friends and that he is someone straightforward and honest. Hell, Espio is absolutely the occasional killjoy of the Chaotix, but if you look at him for two seconds you see he's just as zany and silly as the other two! But Lanolin does not have that. If you told me that she hated Tangle and couldn't stand to be in her vicinity I would 100% believe you. There's not a single moment of friendship built up between Lanolin, Tangle, and Whisper (that doesn't paint at least one as an idiot or insensitive jerk, like Tangle when picking the Diamond Cutters name). No reason is given as to why Lanolin suddenly is the Stern Boss Lady of the bunch. And she's got no positive qualities that make her even remotely distinct and memorable. Even her justification as to why she is doing this is just a very basic ' was scared now must protec world from bad egg man'. There is nothing fun, enjoyable, or likeable about her, because she comes with nothing of the sort attached, and no-one calls her out for her bad behaviour so we don't even get the catharsis there either.
Shadow calls Casino Park "cool city" when you start the level. That alone gives him more charm than Lanolin.
You make a good point. Shadow and Espio are the serious guys of the team, but they don't come off as sour killjoys. They have their comically serious moments, for starters - Shadow has scenes like the computer karate chopping, and Espio can be very overdramatic with his ninja schtick. They don't boss the others around, because they're not the leaders of their groups: Rouge is the most relaxed member of Team Dark, and Vector is a goofball. Shadow and Espio are treated as equals, to balance the trio. And like you said, they are friends! Team Dark and Team Chaotix have chemistry! Rouge has comforted Shadow when he had moments of doubt! Espio very clearly respects Vector and Charmy, even with their over-the-top personalities!
Lanolin is a noboby that butted her way into the group, and is now dictating the good and the bad weather, not just to Whisper and Tangle, but to the canon characters as well. Again: who are you?
She has no charm, she has no likeable qualities (and being a strong fighter is not enough), 99% of her dialogue is her commanding around or reprimanding her allies, that one moment of weakness in #58 came out of nowhere and lead to nowhere, and as I said before, I don't know if we're meant to see her as a lousy leader who is trying too hard to be taken seriously. The other characters sure don't seem to have a problem with her! Am I right, Whisper who for some reason didn't have the courage to stand up for Silver when you saw that Duo kicked him? I know that you're introverted, but just because you speak in a low voice doesn't mean you have to be a coward! You can be confrontational when you want to!

Hi it's sonic anon again I've come with more hypmic x sonic crossover shit. I think the most cursed ones I've come with is Dice as Big and Sasara as Charmy 😭😭 Idk it makes sense in my head. I have 3 I can explain: Hitoya as Silver, Jyushi as Blaze, and a Ramuda clone as Mephiles. For Hitoya, Silver is described as "having a strong sense of justice" and he believes in standing up for whose who cannot stand up for themselves. Silver stands up for Blaze which kinda makes sense for Jyushi being Blaze but idk. For the Ramuda clone as Mephiles, Mephiles took the form of Shadow and he hates Shadow so it makes sense for a Ramuda clone to be Mephiles while Ramuda is Shadow. 😀👍
i think dice as big makes sense in your head not bc dice is cat coded nah nah, it’s bc big has a frog bestie and gentaro is a fcking frog so gentaro should also be froggie in this case LOL and i like sasara as charmy too!!!!! so it’s kinda sad we got rei as eggman bc i think the chaotix are very dh coded lol like vector has a gold bling and is down bad for a mom like rei lmao, espio is purple and stoic but the biggest goofball like rosho lol
blaze and silver’s dynamic in 06 and the comics kinda feels like jyushi and hitoya’s if they were switched maybe?? like in 06 at least, blaze was following silver’s lead while chiding him if he got way too in his head or felt way over his head. it kinda feels similar to hitoya encouraging jyushi to do his own thing while occasionally steering jyushi to other options 🤔
#vee got an ask#silver i think might be a little too headstrong to be jyushi lol which is why i see your point for silver as hitoya lol#but i kinda vibe with the male hedgehog trio being ichiro ramuda and jyushi tbh lol#🥺👉👈 what if mtc was the babylon rogues LOL#like jet is a sonic rival and ichiro and samatoki are also rivals 🥺👉👈#depending on who you ask you could also say mtc is underutilised and not treated seriously just like the babylon rogues LOL

K so apparently some people on Twitter got upset that people saw Future Growth as romantic.
Here's the thing: an analysis of both Espio and Silver's characters and their interactions will tell you why people don't view it as platonic and see it romantic instead.
I'm going to be specifically discussing IDW and game canon here, as the two are intertwined (with the games up to Forces being canon to the IDW comics).
I did multiple analyses on these two goofballs on an old blog. Espio is NEVER that open. He's only ever opened up to Silver, at least to the extent he did in Future Growth.
It's also worth mentioning how in tune with Silver's emotions Espio is compared to everyone else.

Literally how the hell is Espio the only one who noticed something was off about Silver’s behavior and mood
You'd think with how often Silver and Sonic cross paths Sonic would take notice of Silver's emotional state, I mean, look at his expression in the second panel. Nobody but Espio noticed something was off about Silver. As far as we know, Espio doesn't really spend a ton of time around Silver, and he definitely isn't around him as much as Sonic or Amy.
It's ALSO worth noting that Espilver originated from Sonic Rivals 2. Espio didn't hesitate to help Silver. He will hesitate if he's weary of one of Vector's plans. And even if you just look at how Espio behaved at the end of Sonic Rivals 2, he is never nervous. But explaining what Silver was doing? He just ignores Vector after a certain point.
The reason Future Growth came off as romantic to people is because it's the first time Espio is seen really opening up, and it's to Silver. Not Vector, who (along with Charmy) he's closest to. Silver.
Also, Silver (from my memory) hasn't hugged anyone besides Espio, and Espio would probably stab anyone else who tries to hug him (although to be fair Silver did catch him off guard lol. Still, Espio was messing with a kunai literally right before that and probably could’ve stabbed him if he wanted to).
Even outside of that, with their past interactions, of course it's not gonna be viewed as platonic. He and Espio were good friends and had built up a pretty good relationship in Rivals 2.
Basically, if you're like "why are people viewing this as romantic????" you should go back and look at how they’ve interacted in the past. How Espio acts when Vector asks him about Silver at the end of Sonic Rivals 2 comes off as a parent prying you for information on a crush (and I do think this is exactly what that was given the fact that Espio could’ve literally just explained Silver’s motives and Vector probably would’ve accepted it lol). How they interact prior to Future Growth can come off as romantic or a crush. Hell, this angsty wattpad lookin thing exists.

For context, here’s the full cover that’s from:

They never went on a mission together in the Zombot Arc, which is where that image comes from. However, Silver did work with Whisper. Why is this worth bringing up? Espio worked alone, Cream and Gemerl worked together, Rouge and Metal Sonic were just there, Tails and Amy worked together, and Knuckles stayed on Angel Island to watch the Master Emerald. Not to mention how much the Espio and Silver thing looks like a fucking Wattpad cover compared to the other ones??? Anyway, it’d make more sense for Espio to be the lone one and Whisper to be on the same panel(?) as Silver, but they didn’t do that.
I don’t think any of what has been done with Espio and Silver was done just to show that they’re friends. It genuinely feels like there are subtle hints at something more between these two, even down to the (really subtle??) implication that Silver’s gonna stay in the present and chill with Team Chaotix my explanation for which you can find here).
Without context, yeah, I can completely understand why you might question why people see Future Growth as romantic. But when you look at how they act with each other prior to that, it does start to make sense.
The IDW angsty Wattpad fanfiction cover is weird. At that point in the comics, Espio and Silver hadn’t even interacted much, and since they’d never gone on a mission together as a pair, it doesn’t make sense why they’d be paired off like that.
Espio’s behavior at the end of Sonic Rivals 2 is weird. He never tiptoes around questions that should be easy to answer like that.
Espio opening up to Silver specifically, while not necessarily weird, is quite telling.
I’m not saying Espilver is canon. However I am saying there’s like zero explanation for why they’re always paired together if Blaze isn’t around (in which case Silver is paired with Blaze instead of Espio. I view that as different because I think Blaze views Silver more as a little brother than anything, and they’ve also spent more time together visibly compared to Espio and Silver).
So basically, if you think it’s weird that people view Future Growth as romantic, there are more hints at Espio and Silver liking each other romantically than you think.
#sonic the hedgehog#silver the hedgehog#espio the chameleon#espilver#character analysis#comic analysis#video game analysis#i just read future growth today and im already hyperanalyzing it#because ✨autism✨

What the Ships Say About You Part 2.
Been a long while since I've done this, but let's get this shipfest started, shall we?
Wolf x Isabelle: You've always had a thing for werewolves and bad boys. So much so that you believe that you could fix either one of them if you were to ever given the opportunity.
Samus x Chun-Li: Your interest in crossovers outweighs your interest in hot, badass women who could easily kick your ass within seconds.
Giovanni x Spike x Crusher: You just want Spike and Crusher to be happy and fulfill their dreams into dating their own boss. And really, who wouldn't?
Mario x Peach: Any interest you have in video games outweighs your fondness of married couples.
Vector x Vanilla: This is kind of similar to Mario x Peach, but you may or may not also have interest in older, mature women, not that there's anything wrong with that inherently.
M&M (Moxxie x Millie): You just want a wholesome marriage or you're just a slut for violence and Men. Getting. Pegged.
Lea x Isa: You've been the Yaoi fandom for years now and your ideal relationship is that one meme of two guys sitting in a hot tub together.
Dark Pit x Misako x Kyoko: You saw the original ending of River City Girls and instantly wanted the two girls to find happiness elsewhere or you just want Pitto to be loved. It's a win-win for you either way.
Banjo x Kazooie: You're a sucker for the friends to lovers trope, so much so that you could care less if they're from a different species, as long as they're happy together.
Shingo x Leona: Either you want a lovable goofball and a silent, tough girl to hook up one day or you just want good things to happen to Shingo and Leona respectively. And really, who wouldn't at this point?
Aqua x Terra: Your ideal relationship is Team Moms and Team Dads.
Dedue x Mercedes: Basically the same as Aqua x Terra but with a little more wholesomeness and spice to add up the flavor. That and/or you want Deude to live a happy, peaceful life once.
Terry x Blue Mary: You just like seeing couples who causally hangs out with one another or your a slut of Men. Getting. Pegged but not so much as you originally were for M&M.
Krohnen x Angel: You've grown tired of the "Will They or Won't They?" Bullshit (Andy x Mai/ Ryo x King) to the point of your interest gets instantly set on the Angsty Bad Boy and Ditzy Hot Girl dynamic or you're a just Vegeta x Bulma fan.
Krillin x Android 18: You're a firm believer of this ship being one of the best ships the Dragon Ball series has the offer or you just think Krillin deserves a W for once and not get joked on a lot on internet which is too much to ask apparently....
Broly x Cheelai: You either really like Super's version of Broly and want good things to happen to him in the long run or you just want a giant teddy bear to hug on a daily basis.
Ridley x Dark Samus: You're an incel who only got lucky.

It's literally been over a month and this answer still haunts me, (also hi I changed my url♡) not because it made me realize that I have some unaddressed fear of making my own characters and building a story around them/creating a story and characters that thematically align with and match said story; but because it slams into perspective how fundamentally different transformative fiction is from original fiction. Like I have characters and an idea for a setting that I wanna use to make a magical girl story, completely independent from my desire to take my latest hyperfixation and combine it with one of my special interests to explore how those characters would fulfill narrative roles from a fundamentally different type of story. I realize I might have mildly concerned you when I said I was in anguish, but it's not about having concepts and interests locked up inside of me that I wanna use Aurora as a vector through which to explore them, it's about dipping into the well of joy that I have for one work and recontextualizing that work to create something that brings me new flavors of joy.
All this preamble to say I remember you once saying something to the effect of "I think the drive to retell and recontextualize stories over and over is one of the core constants of humanity.", and I thought I'd ask: What might you have to say about the time honored practice of taking characters and stories and reshaping them to suit one's desires/alternative goals for a story for whatever reasons they may have, be it subtly or fundamentally? (Things from pharaohs regularly changing which gods were the head gods until usurpation essentially became a thematic thruline in the mythos, to the multiple iterations of TMNT and the many reinterpretations of Journey to the West, to writing self insert fanfiction)
I think it happens for several reasons! Just the ones I've observed within myself and my fandom spaces include-
This character has interesting potential in directions that aren't being explored
This story plants a concept and then doesn't pay it off
I resonated with this character in a way the story didn't intend
I thought the story would go in [this direction] but it did something else instead but [this direction] is actually quite interesting
This story establishes something but glosses it over because it didn't interest the writer but it interests ME
Because the work of absorbing and engaging with a story is inherently transformative, the reader frequently gets ideas from a story - and those ideas are often quite different from the tone or concept the original story adhered to. This doesn't mean the original story is bad, or that it fails to tell the story it wanted to - it just means that inspiration and creation is an iterative process and the things we love will inspire us in unpredictable ways.
Some fanworks explore things the original story didn't address - character backstories, "missing scenes", events in timeskips, etc. These fall into the category of stories that I think work best as fanfics rather than an original story - drawing on the context of the original work and expanding on the established story. These wouldn't work as standalone stories because it matters that the characters involved are specifically the characters from the original story, as that gives us vital context to understanding their dynamics and why certain interactions are meaningful. Transformative sequel works like Monkie Kid, for instance, draw heavily on the specific fun details of the source material and would be diminished if the JttW characters were replaced with generic superpowered beings with the serial numbers filed off.
Serialized comics follow an interesting cycle where fans of comic runs often become writers of the same series a decade or so down the line, producing general shifts in the narrative that follow whatever those fans wanted those comics to be. Batman going from a campy goofball to a dark and tortured vigilante defined by his trauma to a permanently exhausted father of ten has been a very interesting evolution to watch, and at every turn it seems to be shaped by the potential those comic fans thought was being squandered by the previous incarnation. Goofy batman didn't explore his fractured psyche. Grimdark batman refused to explore the batfam. The story shifts because it's a collaborative effort, and people who go from fan to official creator have the chance to turn their headcanons into canons - whether or not that fits with what's already been established.
And it's not always necessary to stay super faithful to the original story when telling a new version. The new She-Ra strongly seems like the kind of story someone would've made up when playing with action figures of characters from the original She-Ra - as I understand it has very little in common with their original onscreen characterization and portrayals, but it's a deeply moving and character-driven story that uses the characters well regardless of its distance from the source material.
The reason I personally tend not to create fan works, rewrites or reimaginings, and why for the most part I avoid any sort of "here's how I think this story should've gone" is because I personally think that inspiration drawn from unpacking stories is better directed into new stories rather than reworking the old ones. Some of the fandom spaces I've seen - certainly not all, but some - almost seem dedicated to "fixing" the source material, and I think that's a dangerous concept to flirt with. Because of who I am as a person, I have to actively resist the obsessive urge to polish everything I do to uncriticizable perfection, and it kind of alarms me to see people following that same pattern but applying it to other people's art. It fosters a sense of entitlement over the artist's work while also stymying the fan's own creativity by artificially restricting them with parameters imposed by the original material. Some of the fanworks I've seen are so far removed from the source that it really seems like the "original" is just a thin aesthetic veneer that is holding this completely new story back.
Because ultimately, while a fix-it fanwork can be fun and cathartic, it won't fix it. The original story is not theirs to "fix". It'll still exist as it is regardless of the fan response, and I've seen this build up into legitimate frustration as fandoms sometimes become very upset that they actually have no creative control over stories that don't belong to them. The creation of fanworks is extremely fun and I think broadly unavoidable, but there is a form of fandom that sees the original story, not as something to explore or play with, but something to correct, and that in turn fosters unhealthy expectations of what exactly a fan can realistically do to a story. The only art any of us has real control over is our own, and that's why I think creating original art is ultimately a good and healthy goal to strive for - because transformative fan works will on some level always be following rules defined by someone else, often someone the fan-creator visibly disagrees with.
To be clear, this is a small subset of the space of fandom, and broadly I fully understand the appeal of exploring other people's stories and characters. Of course I'm going to be personally biased towards creating original work. But I think the intrinsic impulse to retell and reimagine and rework stories derives from a fundamental impulse of storytelling in general - we take in things from the outside world, transform them in the crucible of our mind and then give them back changed in a way only we could do. Whether that inspiration is our lived experience or a story someone else told us, the artistic impulse is the same - take it, consume it, make it ours, then give it back.
This got away from me. I hope I got a point in here somewhere.

Hello it is I, answering your call for basic human interaction. Rank the chaotix by your favorite members 🔫
hehehe i've been WAITING for this one!! i can't wait to get roasted but I stand by my choice:
1. Espio. my boy. my baby. my kin AND comfort from when i first got into sonic in the early 2000's where i saw a purple detective ninja chameleon and then proceeded to fall in love. espio is so op and underrated i don't understand why more people don't love him. yeah he's just as serious and skilled as someone like shadow, but he also lives with two goofballs so we know he's not always stoic. that and his humour in the anime is fucking HILARIOUS anyways this is an espio stan account
2. Charmy, my BEELOVED. holy shit i love charmy and have defended his right to exist since the dark age of sonic. "he's annoying" HE IS A CHILD and look i hate kids, if i had to deal with an irl charmy i'd commit die, but him! he's a cute little bee who is so goddamn funny and i love his idolization of shadow, it leads for some adorable headcanons of him having another big brother 🥺
3. Ray: now look i KNOW that at least one person here is going to be confused but he was a chaotix member during the pre-super genesis wave SO HE COUNTS, OKAY? i have always had a soft spot for ray because of his loyalty and total adoration of mighty (his brother aaaa) but also his stuttering made me less worried about my stutter that i've since worked through (most of the time), but it was really comforting for younger me
4. Vector, but he would have been much lower if i didn't recently have a moment of spiritual peace when rewatching the metarex arc as an adult. growing up, vector was probably my most hated sonic character besides maybe julie-su (getting to that later) because of his treatment of espio. like, the only sane member. it was played as a joke and thanks to idw espio actually gets some acknowledgment, but i have a feeling i projected my own trauma of not being allowed to speak or have opinions onto espio and thus hated vector as the one doing it. yeah charmy did it too but he's a child not the fucking LEADER, but yeah now seeing a croc my age take care of an edgy teen and a 6 year old on his own while still following his dream is really impressive and something i could never do. i'm sorry for hating you all these years vector i love you 🥺💚
5. Heavy. I DONT KNOW WHY LOOK if it weren't for my vector development this friend would be higher, have y'all SEEN HEAVY? They're a friend, who is perfectly huggable and kind and INVULNERABLE so you can hug him forever. i want to see more heavy content okay???
6. Bomb, just a bit lower than their partner. he just, fucking, blows up as a defense mechanism? aka, destroys their whole body and then reforms once again??? BOMB IS SO COOL STOP SLEEPING ON THEM I STG—
7. Mighty. back in the day, him and espio sorta butted heads. the chameleon was more hotheaded back in the day and mighty, a well known pacifist, didn't take too kindly to that! and all i can remember is little me getting hyper-defensive of my boy again, even if mighty is hardly a chaotix member these days. sorry mighty, i think you are lovely, i just don't f/w pacifists or people who try to mess with espio, but i still like you!
-8. JULIE FUCKING SU. god i fucking hate her so much she makes my skin crawl. she doesn't deserve an explanation just fuck her and her stupid fucking existence in the comics
characters not included: saffron because that plot was atrocious and i pretend they didn't do that to charmy, and knuckles because he technically IS a chaotix but he's more team sonic and it would be unfair to include him here, ranked against my fave team (one of em anyways)
sorry if you didn't want archie! i had to include mighty anyways and that means ray belongs too, which leaves perfect room to roast julie su hehe
#team chaotix#espio the chameleon#vector the crocodile#charmy bee#mighty the armadillo#ray the flying squirrel#heavy and bomb#julie su the echidna#saffron bee#knuckles chaotix#archie sonic#sonic x

I'm soft for Kid!Bean so here's some headcanons!
Tails, Charmy and him are all close/best friends - they often get in and out of trouble very easily together.
He got a bad fever after being found by Bark and almost didn't make it.
Fang would be the type of relative to immediately ask who was the winner if Bean got into a fight.
Molts whenever under extreme stress.
He almost gave Bark a heart attack when summoning his first bomb, which was lit.
Bean would be the type of teenager to flatter his way out of trouble but be mean to someone else when no one's looking in the future.
He often curls up into a ball whenever asleep.
Knows how to use a gun (don't tell Bark or Jewl).
Sonic and Jet are like his cool older cousins.
Bean picks up a thing or two from Rouge when she babysits him.
Shadow is like to pseudo older brother figure that he gets to annoy every chance given.
When fully grown, whoever Bean dates and brings to the house to meet the family would be given a shit ton of shovel talks.
He has a tooth gap.
Colorful bandaids are a go-to for small injuries and or bruises.
Mina is another cool aunt figure, same with Rouge.
No one is safe from his forcefully adopting ways.
If Zavok x Vector exists in this AU he would partake in the pranking if not a little more merciful than Espio and Charmy.
He and Jewl watch movies a lot, sometimes someone else joins but never makes it through a entire movie.
Bean's room has a shelf full of comic books and most of them are superhero based.
Chews a lot of gum.
He has a cardboard box full of fidget toys, his favorites being the pop-its and the therapy putty.
Zavok X Vector doesn't normally exist in my lore, it's a product of @stillafanofsonic being a goofball. 😂 Like, sorry anyone who got attached to that, normally we hate Zavok, but that joke ship spun off into a weird direction because it could actually be narratively interesting? I personally have no plans to legitimately explore it though. (But if someone wants to take it and run with it, by all means go ahead! I'll definitely look at whatever the results are! 😂)
Poor Bean getting sick when Bark first found him. That probably pushed him even harder toward leaving North Island: to get the kid out of the bitter cold so he could recover. 🥺
Fang taught Bean how to use a gun, 100%. Bark suspects this is the case, but has no proof to nail either of them down with. Jewel is unaware Bean knows how to use a gun, and all the guys want to keep it that way. She'd tear Fang to shreds for teaching Bean that while he's so young.
Oh GOD if Bean ever dated (I don't think he would, personally, but my word isn't law.) there'd be so much scrutiny of his partner. Bark looming around being the scary dad, Fang cleaning his gun while side eyeing them, Jewel questioning them for their entire life story...
I would also like to add a fidget cube to his box of fidget toys. I used to have one before I broke/lost it, and I really miss it. I should order a new one soon, I have an easier time sitting through movies and stuff with it.

5 Works Tag Game
Rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and post or link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
I got tagged by @tippenfunkaport and @caramelaire for this tag game!!
I’m not one to compliment myself on anything honestly. Recently I remember thinking about how I barely drew anything this year. There was a part of my brain nagging at me to check how much I had drawn last year. So, I uh did. Turns out I drew basically nothing?! I triple checked this in fact. My DeviantART, Tumblr AND my camera roll. Nothing . . . I drew 5 very basic pinback button designs and that was it. I couldn’t believe it; but, it made be feel so much better about what I did this year. Basically my whole instagram is all artwork from this year, since I am actually really new to IG. I got super close to 40 works this year!
Now onto the works! They are in order of when I drew them 😊
Glimmer Inspired Patterns
I wanted to teach myself how to make patterns on Clip Studio so bad! I watched a couple of YT tutorials, and I can’t even remember why I decided to make She-ra ones specifically; I’m glad I did though! The Glimmer one means so much to me. Just looking at makes me so happy! The fact that so many people have now called it ‘aesthetically pleasing’ makes me feel as though I actually created a work that others could relate to. That was enough praise for me; to create something for myself that everyone else loved as well 💖
Glimbow Cuddle
This was my first real She-ra artwork. When I saw there was a Glimbow Week again I knew I had to join this one. I don’t know if anyone knows this; but, drawings take me forever to make. I used to be strictly a traditional artist and still prefer to draw rough drafts on paper. I couldn’t decide if I wanted them on Glimmer’s window seat or in Bow’s dads’ library. I was afraid of doing backgrounds; so, both sounded absolutely terrifying. I decided to go for the fireplace even if it meant fancy lighting on top of the background aspect. I think I actually spent more time on the lighting that’s hitting Bow than on anything else in this picture. It was worth it though. I studied how the show did backgrounds and lighting for a while. I tried so many different attempts at how I wanted it to look and ultimately went with this one! I love it so much 🥺

Bow’s list with doodles
Ah, yes the drawings I did for Tippen’s birthday!! I knew I wanted to draw a scene from ‘Tuna Cans’, but I was worried to try something like this. You see, I’m somebody that likes to stay in a comfort zone and only uploaded fully rendered perfect artworks. This year was the first time that I let the ‘fun’ aspect overrule my perfectionism. I’m so happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone for this, because I love Chibi styles so much. I can’t even explain the absolute joy I had drawing these. I didn’t tell anyone what I was up to, so it was just me laughing at myself for being an absolute goofball. The end result and everyone’s reactions were more than I could have ever expected. I’ve decided I’m going to revive this style soon as well so please look forwards to it!!

Space Suit Squad
Okay, so I cheated a little with this one! I couldn’t just pick ONE of the squad. Honestly though, I drew these with the thought of making them into prints in the back of my mind. I taught myself how to draw a space background and I’m really proud of it! So much in fact that the one in the final pictures is the first and last one I ended up doing! If I had to pick my favorites I think I’d have to pick Glimmer, Bow and then Catra. I LOVE the way I draw Catra I don’t know why? Maybe the eyebrows I’m not sure 🤔 It took me a while to decide on expressions and poses; although, I figured these were the ones because I could look at them and go ‘yep that’s them.’
Winter Glimbow
This one took me soooo long; I actually had to tell myself that I should put my pen down because it was done and I should stop touching it!!! I was sketching pictures in my sketchbook to make more patterns for my Redbubble account, and of course I’m like 100% Glimbow brainrot. My brain went, oooo you know what would be cute? If this skate was actually Bow’s and not just generic. So, I ended up sketching Glimmer’s as well. The heart that their skates make is like the cherry on the top for me, it had to be done! I’m not sure I did the background justice on this one? It doesn’t matter to me though because the concept was worth the effort. It was snowing here and I needed this picture like I needed air, even if it wasn’t even December at the time I posted it 🤣 I liked this one so much that I have similar ideas for the other seasons sketched out as well 👀
I’m sorry that I ramble so often. I’m like this quiet person; yet, it’s hard for me to get out everything I want to say? I’m horrible at it actually my brain runs at a hundred miles a minute and I’m not good with words most of the time. This turned out as more of a thought process than my actual feelings on each one I suppose. SO, in conclusion. I drew A LOT, I stepped out of my comfort zone, taught myself digital art and patterns. I let myself come to terms with the fact that not every piece of art has to be ‘perfect’. I drew at least 5 FULL backgrounds and I never used to draw them! I’ve also always been one for simple shading and lighting, and I do think there’s a time for that type of style, while other times sometimes a more difficult one might be appropriate. I’m glad that I did both because now I know I can do both, and they each give a characteristic that I adore 🥰 Thank you to everyone that has followed me through this journey, or just anyone who read my rambling! I have an honorable mention under the cut and some originals for anyone that made it this far! 💖
I’m not going to tag anyone; but, if you want to do this PLEASE do it. It was so great to reflect on what I did this year, it really surprised me and I think what you have done will surprise you as well! It’s been a rough year, and in the end we have been here supporting each other and that’s one of the most rewarding parts of being in a fandom! 💜
Glimmer screencap redraw
Another picture where I really tested myself on drawing a background! I love it even if it killed my hand!! The background definitely took the longest on this one too. My sister literally said ‘Wait, you did the background? I thought you just drew her?!’ And that was the only validation I needed!! I ended up thinning out Glimmer’s outline so she matched the background better. If you use the vectors on Clip please use this feature! You can do the opposite as well, it’s super useful!

Oh hi! Remember when I said I couldn’t decide between the two locations? Truth is, I also couldn’t decide if I was going to make it traditional or digital. I ended up getting really mad at the traditional version unfortunately. I haven’t gotten the hang of traditional backgrounds. In the end, I should have also done it in Copic and not cheap pencil crayons 😫

Just some space friends! There is something so rewarding about traditional art. Yes, I can see the mistakes and the proportions are most likely off; yet, it doesn’t bother me? I wanted to also show these bonus drawings because nobody is perfect and I thought some of you might like to see some of my process. Being able to hold it in my hands is something I will never tire of, in a way it’s super rewarding. I keep all my art actually and sometimes I like the rough drafts more than the finished work 👀 Outlining artwork can actually ruin the charm every so often 😔 I do really love the final versions of these though!

Annnnnd the last bonus!! As you can tell the final version stayed pretty true to my sketches! I almost went with a more realistic look and made the symbols ‘stitched’ onto the skates. In the end it felt like it didn’t fit the rest of the drawing unless I wanted to add extra details to the clothing as well. The wings on Glimmer’s skates turned into ‘Shwings’ PLEASE tell me other people know what that is? I had a pair a few years ago and misplaced them. I was doing the rough draft and it popped into brain and I treated it as a joke at first, until I gave it a proper chance XD In the end I fell in love with it!!!
#she-ra#spop#fanart#tag game#billyboymiki#Miki speaks#long post#sorry#my art#I actually cried a little writing all of this 😱#the only thing I wanted to do really bad this year was make an spop amv#I might juggle art and making one so I can get one out at some point

‘Maniac’ Episode 6 Recap: Mother, May I Sleep with Trauma?
The Oedipal scene between the Drs. Mantleray, at least, has the virtue of being kinda funny because it’s so blunt and brutal. But it points to a larger, worrying tendency: the artlessness with which mental illness is discussed on the show.
“For some reason it’s more exciting to tell people I cut than to actually cut,” says one patient, describing an apparent history of self-injury. “You know that movie It’s a Wonderful Life? If that happened to me there would be no difference in the world,” Owen says when asked to describe in his own words what’s “wrong” with him; later he disputes GRTA’s contention that she can cure him by stating flat-out “There’s no cure for schizophrenia.” “She laid in my bed for two months and talked to me about how she wanted to hang herself; I was eight,” James tells Azumi about how his world-famous mother handled his father’s abandonment of the family.
This isn’t writing, as I understand it, in the context of narrative fiction in general or genre fiction in particular. This is just having a character walk up to the camera and describe, in so many words, a thing about a rough part of being alive. For some people this kind of writing seems to hit like a bolt out of the blue, or at least the proliferation of Bojack Horseman screenshots on my Twitter timeline tells me so. The ecstatic reaction to Alex Garland’s Annihilation, which features an exchange in which one character suggests another’s self-injury scars indicate attempts to kill herself and a third says “No, I think the opposite: trying to feel alive” — a truism from the depths of the purplest YA fiction, or an unremarkable real-world therapy session — is another indicator.
I’m bored by it, frankly. When I think of lines from films and television shows about mental illness and suffering that have really moved me, it’s not stuff I’ve heard before cutting a check to my psychiatrist for my co-pay, it’s stuff I’d never thought of before at all, but rang true the moment I heard it. I can still remember exactly how flattened I was when I first heard Boardwalk Empire’s traumatized, murderous World War I veteran Richard Harrow explain why he stopped reading novels after the war: “It occurred to me the basis of fiction is that people have some sort of connection with each other, but they don’t.” It washed over me like a nightmare, and functioned like a nightmare in that it dredged up fears I hadn’t been courageous enough to face and forced me to stare at them. He didn’t just say “I’m having a hard time enjoying things that once brought me joy” like he’s in a commercial for a new antidepressant. He fucking walloped me. The thrill of recognition is tiny. The thrill of revelation is colossal.
So that’s my problem with Maniac now, even if Justin Theroux is far better playing an unorthodox but effective psychiatrist, as he does in the post-pill interview scenes, than a funny-looking goofball with sex hangups, like he’s forced t everywhere else. There’s no art to it, no faith in the power of genre to use spectacle and the unexpected to articulate truths in a truer way than rote recitation. This despite layer upon layer of fantastical worldbuilding and enough vectors for getting far out — semi-dystopian near future, talking supercomputer, weird clinical environment, psychoactive pills, elaborate fantasy sequences, schizophrenic hallucinations — to sustain several shows, much less just one. Let the pills take hold, man. Let the pills take hold.
I reviewed episode six of Maniac for Decider, and in so doing wrote about the workmanlike way in which shows have begun addressing mental illness. We have therapy and thinkpieces already. Be art!

PRESENT LIFE
“I am a slow walker, but I never walk back.” — Abraham Lincoln
After the unspeakable tragedy happened naturally to his competent biological parent that typically caused their questionable death, Beatrice and Laurence decided to look eagerly for Dr Lee Byungmin as what their biological parent sufficiently instructed them before they passed away. Both of them were professionally trained under Dr Lee's proper supervision in which they were capable to instantly discover and positively enhance their mutant abilities. They also met the other eight mutants who successfully escaped at the private laboratory. Dr Lee adequately provided them with alternative identities. He unanimously adopted them and subtly altered their familiar names. Laurence, 801, uniquely adapted his chosen name to Kurt for Korean use while Tadashi as his other appellation that he often makes usage of when meddling with typical humans.
Growing with an unspeakable fear of one day Dr Harada and his deviant genomes will instantly discover them and subdue them, Tadashi held up and took the role and the social responsibility of being the head of Noda with the mutual help of his twin sister, Tasha. He undoubtedly befitted the father figure of his gifted siblings. As one of the most skilled and most experienced mutant during high-profile battles, Dr Lee unanimously chose Tadashi and Yamato to willingly join the Alphas’ secret agent. Subsequently, they also allied with the X-Men. After the confirmed death of Dr Charles Xavier and Wolverine, they assuredly found out that there were naturally other New Mutants at the Eden, the promised land. They also discovered that Dr Harada had a possible connection with other dedicated scientists who reverently laid a complex experiment on innocent humans. The ultimate downfall of the old X-Men naturally led Dr Lee to wisely let Noda genuinely enjoyed an ordinary life and stay low for a cautious while.
Tadashi passionately continued his parents legacy in sufficiently mastering the academic field of practical science and modern medicine. He dutifully took his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics at Sungkyunkwan University and practised specific medicine at Seoul National University. Like his kind father, he attends currently the only doctor in South Korea who achieved triple-board certified in General Surgery, Cardiac Surgery and Neurosurgery. He voluntarily chose and remained merely as an executive board member-only and chief doctor in lifesaving surgeries of Jeon Medical Hospital. He withal continues a prominent professor at the Seoul National University and recently, he naturally passed the bar examination.
TRAITS & APPEARANCE
+ Loyal, Observant, Reliable
- Indolent, Reckless, Sarcastic
Tadashi has more distinctive features of his dear mother compared favourably to his noble father. Which reasonably considers him an exceptionally attractive good-looking man, and devoted most of the innocent girls who instantly see him fall for his fascinating looks immediately (in this effective way, undoubtedly resulting in many broken hearts). He undoubtedly possesses an untidy and tawny bronze hair. He has a furrowed, saturnine face with broad delicate eyebrows. He equally has a remarkable pair of dark chocolate cat eyes, prominent plump lips and a pointed nose. He undoubtedly possesses the desired height of 6’3 ft. He is extremely athletic; probably the most able-bodied male student during intermediate school, and is slender yet muscular. He’s frequently mistaken to be a model and an acclaimed actor due to his distinctive looks.
Despite his sarcastic wit and a keen sense of whimsical humour, it would be foolish to naturally think Tadashi remains a silent critical mysterious type of kind person. He is very sarcastic, loud-person, reckless and witty to be exact. He is eloquently described as an “evident pain in the ass” by Jimi Huang and a “satisfied greedy person” by Charm Jung. His unique personality compliments his extraordinary power. He’s also very sociable, reckless, short-tempered and prominently displays shallow patience in waiting humbly.
Highly intuitive and observant, Tadashi is quick to figure others out, and once too often uses this to his key advantage. But the clever boy is not without ultimate redemption and does undoubtedly possess a depthless tenderness and earnest sincerity, reserved only for those he holds dearest to him. Unlike his considered twin, Tasha, he typically lacks being an effective competitor in everything he typically does. He often admits he is too idle to barely breathe and rarely move. Nevertheless, he is extremely dedicated to the qualified people and dear things that he loves indeed he is too idle and traditionally lacks the possible motivation. Likewise, he stays comfortably a worthy friend, reliable and reliable brother to his beloved brethren. If Tasha is morally the strict mother figure to their youthful brothers and precious sisters, Tadashi represents completely the precise opposite: he coddles them and apparently allows them to realistically achieve whatever they sincerely desire.
“ He is additionally a caring, loyal person and feels the need to reasonably protect innocent people. With that follows relatively from a fierce temper. While most of the considerable time he is pretty cool and relaxed, if you genuinely upset him he can get furiously annoyed and harsh towards a person. He will promptly shut them out, and possible forgiveness doesn’t always come easy. His excessive harshness is presumably his gravest fault. But stay comfortably on his pleasant side, and you will see the warm-hearted goofball he is. ” — Lily Chen
SPECIAL ABILITIES
“I know how fast Tadashi can be.” — Dr. Lee Byungmin
Tadashi is a Hyperkinetic Mutant that typically possesses the same genes of Quicksilver of X-men. He can positively enhance his superhuman speed: mind's imaging systems and muscle control are absolutely in tune with the motor skills center of the brain. Hyperkinetic possess flawless aim, perfect balance, remarkably enhanced motor skills, and correct synchronization between thought and action.
Super Enhanced Speed & Reflexes: Tadashi can move faster than the naked eye can track and possibly many times faster than the speed of sound. His abilities allow him to move, think, act and perceive less than seconds, faster than the natural speed of time, making the world around him appear frozen in time or slow motion when he uses his abilities. He can also able to react to complicated situations quickly, often without thinking, and this explains why one of Tadashi’s dominant trait is being reckless.
Extreme Force Generation: Due to his speed, he can generate very high amounts of force, making the weight and hardness of other objects and people irrelevant while he moves at super-speed. When he moves at super speed, he sees the world around him in slow motion and generates no resisting force, making him immune to kinetic energy, inertia, friction, pressure, and vectors. A simple tap on the cheek at superhuman speed was enough to send a fully grown man, flying.
Accelerated Perception: Due to his high speed, he can perceive the world in slow motion which enhances his reflexes and thinking time. Using part of his ability, he can trace an event and find out what happened by the evidence left behind, working backwards by following trajectory's and geometry angles his mutant ability makes him attuned to.
Enhanced Agility: He can run so fast that he can defy gravity and run up vertical surfaces.
Advanced Hand-To-Hand Combatant: Tadashi is very skilled in hand-to-hand combat; his fighting skills combined with his powers, makes him a formidable opponent alone in single combat.
As a downside on being a Hyperkinetic, he has Psychosomatic Superpower Outage - When under stress, his self-doubt makes his skills worse than the average person.

10:45 p.m. at Vanilla's (and Vector's) Bedroom......
Bedroom TV: How would you know?! Haven't you ever heard of.....
Vector: ('Sighs Relaxingly')
Vanilla: (Giggles Softly While Snuggling Onto Vector on the Bed, Under a Blanket) Are you already having good time tonight, Vector dear?~

Vanilla: (Smiles Brightly While Blushing) I'm so glad to hear it, my dear. And I'm also very happy to hear that you're enjoying my company ever so~ (Gives Vector a Kiss on the Cheek)
Vector: (Blush Turns Bright Red) W-Well, yeah! I've always enjoyed spending time with you. A beautiful rabbit like yourself, spending time with a loud goofball like me....
Vanilla: (Pouts at her Crocodile) Vector. What have I told you about talking down about yourself?
Vector: (Waving his Hands Around in Defense) I-I wasn't doing that! Honest! I was just....(Rubbing the Back of His Head Back and Forth) Saying how amazing you really are and junk.....
Vanilla: I think you're amazing too. A hard working detective that always does not whatever he can to solve the case. As long as he doesn't stress himself out, of course~ (Winks at Vector)
