#RawChefYin visits Simple Life at 163 Retail Park We were at Kitchen Shop to conduct the raw vegan cheese demo, so after setting up, we headed over here for lunch. Craving for curry, so ordered 2 curry dishes! 1. Nyonya Laksa With Brown Rice Ramen / Brown Rice Bee Hoon / 娘惹拉沙糙米拉面 / 糙米米粉 RM17.90 2. Thai Green Curry RM24.90 They confirmed that the curry is made with coconut milk and there’s no dairy milk in it. This is a vegetarian restaurant and dishes with eggs are clearly marked. It’s something I’ve been aware of a long time ago because I once sat at a table near their kitchen and could hear and see the microwave. I also enquired on their FB page and they confirmed they use microwaves in their kitchen and the reply is they only use it for heating up, not for cooking. I’ve avoided them for some time but recently started eating there again. The honest truth is that many restaurants use microwave ovens in their kitchens and altho I personally don’t use them at all, when eating out I don’t necessarily stop eating at a place just because of that. What are your thoughts on this? Since we were at Bangsar South for work, we thought we would pop by Parklife as we’ve heard really good things about them from @shahab_ym & @colleenspartanmma. 👍😉 We had the Set Lunch which was a choice of 3 vegetables, plus soup + pita bread. Every spoonful was so delicious and flavoursome. We will definitely be back! 💯 Here are the amazing veggies: 1. Roasted Potato Wedges & Sweet Potato with Garlic, Rosemary, Crush Mint, & Edamame Served with Romesco Sauce 2. Mixed Quinoa, Fennel, Avocado, Cucumber, Tomato, Sumac & Herbs 3. Chuka Wakame Soba Salad 4. Roasted Butternut Squash with Pomegranate Molasses & Rosemary Mixed Nuts 5. Roasted Eggplant with Basil, Tahini & Grilled Cherry Tomato 6. VEGELAB in Cheras - Vegan Food Adventures with Raw Chef Yin! #RawChefYin visits Vegelab in Cheras as I was next door at Signature Market shooting 3 cooking videos so this was the perfect place to have lunch. We had: 1. Red Quinoa Rice Peppery Chicken with Grilled Vegetables RM18.90 2. Nasi Mak RM16.80 Fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut oil and pandan leaf served with hot & spicy sambal garnished with fresh cucumber slices, vege mutton rendang, roasted peanuts, tempeh, and crackers. We requested for the vegan option so there’s no dairy and no egg. 3. Vietnamese Spring Roll RM12.90 These rice wrap rolls are filled with fresh vegetables like carrot, cucumber, lettuce, cilantro etc. and these are high in vitamin A and other micronutrients. 4. Quinoa & Pumpkin Salad RM15.80 5. Red Dates Ginger Drink RM6.90 (note it comes with a biscuit which contains egg...so avoid the biscuit if you’re vegan) This is a vegetarian place. #RawChefYin visits Warung Mertua in Canggu! - Our first time ever in Canggu. It's at least my 6th of 7th trip to Bali but I've never been to Canggu before. Taking the opportunity over the next few days to explore this part of Bali. - I initially thought I'd just mono-meal on some mangos but then decided to walk out a bit to check out the area. Most people have suggested or but I wanted to have something that's truly local and wanted to have some warung food. 🍚 - When spotted the sign Warung Mertua, it already drew me in. Figured we could veganise the food or at least request for Nasi Goreng Vegetarian without the telur (egg). - We ended up with: 💚Steamed white rice 8K 💚Fried Tempe served with sambal and some raw veggies 7K 💚Cah Kangkung which is basically kangkung veggies with garlic -8K - We made sure they didn't use any eggs to fry the tempeh. The sambal has no belacan in it, in fact, the server rattled off all the ingredients to assure us it's vegan. Also we checked to see if they use oyster sauce in the vegetables and they said there's none. - I love the steamed white rice - so simple and so satisfying. It's in a small portion so I didn't feel too bad after eating it. The sambal was very, very, very good!😋😋😋 - And very cheap too. #RawChefYin visits MTR Malaysia in Brickfields! I kept seeing so many photos and reading so many rave reviews about this place by @llemongrass I just had to go. Had the ✔️Uddin Vada - Fried lentil doughnut served with sambar & chutney ✔️Bisi Bele Bhath - Rice dish made with lentils, assorted vegetables, spices, curry leaves & tamarind pulp. It usually comes with a raitha but since I'm vegan and don't eat yoghurt, they replaced it with a chutney ✔️Ragi Dosa - Crepes made from millet flour, flavoured with curry leaves & cumin seeds, served with tangy chutney And then after all that, we ordered another Single Rice Idly which is a steamed rice & black gram cake served with green chutney & lentil sambar. Food was exceptionally tasty. A bit on the rich side for me so I need to restrain myself when I'm here 😉 We initially had some problems trying to get the message across to our server and then I had to show him the list and then he said ok, no ghee. This place is famous for their ghee, so do insist that you want yours without ghee if you're vegan. I wrote to them on Facebook and they said they're happy to offer vegan options and to let the manager know before placing the order. Also, thanks to the @animalalliessg website, here are the guidelines to ordering vegan options when at MTR. This has been confirmed by MTR Malaysia via Facebook too. Just let the manager know your preferences before placing your order: • Plain idli with chutney and sambar • Vada • All dosa batter is vegan. Request to cook without ghee. • Upma • Set meals : Sambar/curries and side dishes or palya's are vegan. Make sure to tell them no yogurt and milk sweet or ghee which comes in set meal as sides. • Lemon rice, Puliogere, Tomato rice are made with oil and not ghee. Ask to give chutney as side instead of yogurt or ghee. I hope we get to go there with @llemongrass soon! So we walked around and found some other vegetarian options instead. Do remember to check with them whether there's eggs or dairy as it's not necessarily indicated on the menu. We had: 1. Yee Mee Bak Kut Teh RM12 2. Belacan Fried Rice RM8.90 3. Vegetable Rolls RM8.90 4. Lo Hon Ko & Sea Coconut RM4.90 I actually wanted to try their Dumpling Curry Soup but they told me there's egg in it. I was a bit wary that the vegetable rolls sauce had eggs too but they assured me there's none... However if I do try it again, I'll remember to ask them not to use the sauce. Food was very tasty.😋 Parking was very easy to find on a Saturday and the staff were helpful.
