Meet Phi!

She's an oooooold one, an a very random one that doesn't actually have tons of story.

She was inspired by a couple different games, but isn't directly linked to an existing story. She originally came out of an experiment with alcohol markers, and while it's not pictured, she's got bright pink hair XD

The small worldbuild she's part of takes a lot of cues from Subnautica and Below Zero, and some generally techy sciency vibes. I hadn't played Portal or Astroneer yet, but I'd retroactively throw those in there too.

Either way, her name is Phi. It used to be Sigma, but after a long set of shenanigans, Sigma is now a separate, nearly identical (but not quite) character who's part of a friend's concept. Meanwhile, this is Phi (who, ironically, is significantly more normal-human than Sigma ended up being.)

Phi herself is a bit of a scientist/researcher with a pinch of vigilante spite for the corporate machine and a distaste for their poor sense of ethics. She's gung-ho enough to worry people but smart enough to not actually get hurt (most of the time).

And, being a marine biologist with a side-penchant for entomology and a bit of herpetology, she of course loves all sorts of strange critters, and is the opposite of thalassophobic.

I think maybe one of those pictures was drawn before the name-change, btw. I'm not sure how old these pictures are, but they almost have to be post-learning-CSP, so some of my older consistent mistakes have been ironed out yaaaay.

the arena is like a big jungle island in the middle with a big ol fucking river and then more like. jungle type biomes around it across the river. all with their own special shit. real cool.

at first they like all wanna work together but they do eventually start killing each other. but 2 of the sciency people (they are both very autistic and I love them(<-it forgot their names)) figure out that the arena is basicall5 a giant fucking clock. its wild

thoughts about the RotTMNT movie

I finished watching the movie (and rewatched it a reasonable amount of times). Spoilers ahead for those who haven't watched it yet!

The movie in it's entirity was amazing! In my opionion by far the best TMNT movie so far. The animation was top, Ioved watching every second of it. The movie took a more serious note than the series was, but I feel like they managed to balance it out with just enough comedy to keep the series feeling even if that wasn't that prominent. The way they managed to include the Kraang into the franchise was really well done. Since the Kraang are a techy/sciency race I wondered how they would write it into a mystical setting. But the excecution was eerily excitin by making them a biotechnological?? race (sorry Idk what to call it).

Now about the Tutrles! 🐢😆

Leo and Raph alway take the spotlight no matter which verion of the tmnt we are talking about. But Rise! managed to do this in a way that I didn't actually mind. In exchange we got plenty of sibling interaction between them, which was the cutest, very satisfied. My favourite turtle will always be Mikey which makes any kind of content kind of dissapointing, because he and Donnie are always pushed into background but I didn't mind it this movie, because it felt like they actually had imporant roles for the movie and were both totally killing it on the screen. They got to showcase their strenghts and abilities. Donnie got to use his intelligence and innovative mind, which made me think about how much creativity and imagination he needs for his mystic powers to think up his creations on the fly. I especially liked how they took his soft shell nature into account thus making him more vurnelable to attacks. (those moments between him and Mikey were so heartwrenchingly cute) Mikey ooh~ my baby (this post is just a reason for me to gush about him) he got some badass stuff done to him! He got his role as the glue who holds his family together more solidified. Mikey's character is always hopeful and trusting who looks up to his brothers. Without these qualities there would be on less brother with them. And they made him a mystic warrior! I totally celebrated that! My boi was doing a fine ass job this movie! 🐢🧡

Now about Leo and Raph. What we get every version of tmnt is their rivalry, in particular about leadership. It's already established that because Raph is the oldest and thus naturally assumed the leader role this concept didn't exist anymore and therefore the groups dynamic changed. Now Leo as leader we can see some of that "rivalry" that really can't be called that anymore, at least not like how we have seen it before. Raph wasn't angry or spiteful about not being the leader anymore but he was mad about the fact that Leo didn't take the position seriously. He actually tried to offer his guidence and encouragment to Leo who ignored it. Leo as new leader has a pretty big shell to fill and he is trying to prove himself by trying to accomplish everything on his own. We see how that works out. But we also see how he gradually starts to realise that he needs to step up and has to accept some responsibility. And as usual we saw Leo being thrown through a window (this time metaphorically).

All in all I think it was an amazing movie. Very well written with good dialogue all around. I was crying, I was cracking up and I was shaking with excited nerves! Thanks for the whole crew for making such an awesome movie! 🐢🧡🍕

Overview of how I write them

I write stand-alone AUs of these two.

I try to specify if two fics are in the same universe or not.

Will include but not limited to two side characters: Silas and Sylvie.

They are also dating. Both boys. They have their own story I won’t be posting here. (Unless . . . ?)

My Space Aces can vary in age depending on the setting but their standard age is 19.

These two OCs are like my vent OCs and so I’ve made them flexible to fit any sort of scenario that I want. That’s the reason if they come off as inconsistent in my writing. I don't wanna stress about "staying in character."

Everything is completely my own content and ideas unless I use prompts in which case the prompts aren’t mine but my take on them is.

I drew these characters myself and don’t have a consistent art style but this is what my Space Aces look like. I drew all these (and many more) at widely different times so that's why nothing looks the same but I hope you can see the identifying characteristics.

Ok, hear me out: the Junoverse characters in a very loose Wolf 359 roleswap AU. (Emphasis on loose.)

For the Hephaestus / Hyperion City:

Imagine Peter Nureyev, the man of many names and just as many motives, but as a mysterious and quasi-feral mad scientist who just keeps popping up. Listen, I know Hilbert is kind of awful, but Nureyev could be like a.... better, sexier Hilbert. Still a con man with a million identities and questionable morals, but make him sciency this time.

Which puts Juno Steel in the role of Lovelace, who keeps runing into way too many versions of Doctor Glass—er, Rose—Ransom? He can’t keep track and he is sick of it. He used to trust the system, but now he knows that he has to fend for himself and the people he cares about. But even though he seems like a jerk, he really does want to do good and look out for people. (Bonus points if you connect Lovelace’s old crew with Ben Steel and Annie Wire. The friends from the past who Juno couldn’t save.)

Rita is absolutely Hera—techy, adorable, underestimated, and incredibly powerful. Enough said there, I think.

Mick Mercury would be Eiffel, a loveable goofball with hidden strengths and struggles. My headcanons for them even look the same tbh.

Sasha Wire would be Minkowski, always fed up with Mick but also very protective of him. She relies on the system, she takes her position of authority seriously, and she’s not above harpooning people if they really need it.

For the Carte Blanche / SI5:

Buddy Aurinko as a version of Kepler that... isn’t awful. Still a fearless leader with atrocious humor and ridiculous stories, though. I can hear her doing the whiskey speech.

Vespa Ilkay as Jacobi. Please imagine this woman with explosions AND knives. It’s good for the soul. Also, they both deal with a lot of regret and anger while kind of idolizing their captains, so there’s that.

Jet Siquliak as Maxwell. Great with mechanical stuff and fascinated by RITA.AI (the two make a horribly chaotic duo). And the Ruby7 should be another AI in there somewhere, I think.

And for the villains:

Ramses O’Flaherty as Cutter. Just, yes. A million faces, a million names, and more power and manipulation than you could dream. All for the greater good!

Which I suppose would make Pryce into the Theia Soul. Especially interesting when you remember how Pryce was in Eiffel’s head, just like the Theia Soul was in Mick’s. (This is why we need Hera and Rita, y’all.)

It’s all very loose, of course, and the dynamics between these characters would be totally different than in W359. But as a jumping off place for an AU... something to consider indeed.

it could maybe be cute if she were making some kind of connection like that. but they don't show her to be any kind of genius. very clever, very aware, but not a genius--if anything, she resembles her mother. tony is not raising her the way he was raised, with pressure to be a prodigy as a child and circuit boards built at the age of four. we're introduced to her hiding in a tent in the woods; he still has his lab at home, but it's restricted to a single table. neither himself or his daughter are showing any interest in introducing her to sciency things, at least not yet. he's letting her be a kid, and she's not showing any signs of being more than an average kid. tony's likely shared his father's fear of making a kid too like himself, he seems to have avoided that by having a normal kid, and unlike his father? he's happy with this peaceful normality and doesn't expect more than spending time with his family. honestly, regarding possible people to inherit his legacy, he has a successor in harley if they wanna go that route. morgan stark can just be morgan, and that's ok. tony's whole life was spent being tony stark, and then ironman--which he loved, but knew was self destructive. i think it's important to recognize that he was trying to give her that. (and pray that since that means it sucks that we wouldn't get another fem techy superhero through her, shuri gets some more attention.)

Xios cooks normally. Sely will always make something that’s convenient and quick to eat, whether tasty or not. So like, calorie bars or protein shakes. Oni just… Oni is just challenged and can’t cook for the life of them, besides maybe some quick premade dish or maybe something reaaallly simple. Xios may cook weird stuff on occasion, but by far his is the most edible and pleasant.

How often do they fight?

Well, Xios and Oni bicker all the time. Like, all the time. It’s nothing serious, but sarcastic quips are flung back and forth until the point Selious gets irritated enough to snap at them. But actual fights? Very rare.

What do they do when they’re away from each other?

Xios: Ho-hum, I wonder what they’re doing. I should call them! Nah, they’re probably busy. Fuck that. I’m bored. You know what? Imma go find them.

Oni: *anxious waiting until they come back O.O* I hope they’re okay, they better not have done something stupid…. they probably did something stupid.

Sely: *ignores them until they’ve taken too long of a time (in his opinion of what “a long time” entails) and then tries to contact them. If they don’t respond, he tracks them down.

Nicknames for each other?

Xios: For Sely- Mik, Mikky, My boyfriennnndddd (they’re not in a relationship lol), and then later on- HUSBAND! For Oni- Little one, little shit

Oni: For Sely-Sely, Mik, For Xios- pretty boy, Xi

Xios is more likely to pay for dinner because he’s rich lol.

Sely steals the blankets at night, mostly because the other two did it first. He’s not just going to allow them to “win”.

What would they get each other for gifts?

Xios: For Oni- Nice clothes! Food. For Sely- Also clothes! And something techy.

Oni: For Xios- What -they- think is “fashionable” ((often not, but Oni tries)), for Sely- “Something Sciency” ((Like something really dumb, like, useless, like, a calculator. A bad one. The battery is dead.)) Or, something antique, as Sely likes antiques! Especially antique techs, he’d like that useless calculator.

Sely: For Oni- Also food. She is simple to please lol. Also, something significant probably, something she may have mentioned wanting or having an interested in waaay long ago to the point she’s forgotten about it. For Xios- Probably some gadget that is way too advanced for Xios to really use on any regular basis but he appreciates it anyway.

Who remembers things?

Oni remembers their goals and reminds everyone to focus. Sely remembers data and information. Xios remembers how to be human enough not to get them instantly kicked out of any establishment they’re in due to “misconduct” and “rudeness” bc Sely and Oni have a diplomacy stat of -0. Just kidding, Oni isn’t as bad, but, they’re not great either.

Who cusses more?

They’re all kind of pirates ngl… Probably Oni.

What would they do if the other one was hurt?

Xios: Find a way to heal them/protect them with everything he has.

Oni: If they were okay enough, take down the threat who caused that pain in an animalistic instinct/rage.

Sely: Find a way for them to be safe first, then take down the enemy or subdue them. Or lose them.

Emotional responses to their pain:

Xios: Hurt, a little desperate, but mind goes into gear and he puts everything into keeping calm enough to help the situation. Later on he’ll feel guilty for not being able to protect them well enough.

Oni: Desperate, like a failure, rage filled, protective, single-minded, terror (at the thought of losing them).

Sely: Stand offish, but still very worried in his own way. Snappish, terse, over controlling of the situation, easily irritable if someone is not doing something to help them fast or efficiently enough.

Who kissed who first?

Haha, well, teeechnically Oni kissed Sely. Then they forgot about each other due to plot reasons. Then Xios kissed Oni, and eventually she realized it was gross and that he was more like a brother really.
