#something extraordinary#alexis hall#aroaessidhe 2025 reads#aromantic books#platonic-romcom that really delves into the characters and their relationship and it’s JUST what I crave so much#it’s the kind of aromantic narrative I want more of.#Someone who’s (mostly) content in their identity AND the narrative actively discusses and explores amatonormativity and being aro#(rather than just internalised arophobia; or aro but it’s barely part of the narrative)#I have read the first book in this trilogy and it was okay but not really my vibe; I skipped the second because of this.#I realise belle has some background development in that one but. well#I think this third book as the conclusion of her arc has the most important part of it to me#I appreciate how well this managed to have them both at separate points have to convince the other that eloping is a good idea#really digging into their characters and not feeling completely like ridiculous back and forth#(though of course it’s pretty ridiculous in many ways being the kind of book it is)#it’s very heavy on the witty regency banter which is fun to an extent but there’s a bit much for me - I guess I knew this going in#The pacing at the end is a bit weird with multiple timeskips.#I feel like it could have padded that out a little more and removed some of the earlier bits#Some of those parts like re: his parents felt like they could have used a bit More to them.#I also appreciate the ‘fuck you for planning to punish yourself by getting married to a woman without thinking about#what that’s like for her’ from MULTIPLE women lmao#aro woman x gay man friendships are very important to me. good dynamic.#anyway. did make me cry aromantically

i think for the shitty scorpion family, their entire dynamic is definitely toxic (heh) but also neither dusk nor bruno is an inherently terrible person? its just that they’re a) horrible together longterm as they are and b) people who should not have had kids.

Okay it's not the au that I've been losing it over tonight but I have also recently been thinking about a potential Portal au for saf but I just cannot nail down the casting. There are so many fun possibilities. I think it could be really cool to do something with Tatiana and Barb being prominent. But then I can't stop thinking about just how much Owen could fit as GLaDOS, thereby probably making Curt the Chell in this paradigm (could do something funky with their backstories too) (also. Still Alive, Want You Gone, and also You Wouldn't Know have such Owen vibes it's unreal). But then also I remember Atlas and P-Body:

#do you ever realize you missed a social cue and want to scream#im like 95% sure my boss has been like. conspiring to keep me at part time hours#when literally he could have just talked to me#i am so cooperative bro#like have you seen when herding dogs get stressed because they dont know what theyre supposed to be doing? yeah#im just a bit dense sometimes#i forgot he said during the interview that he WANTED me to start at part time hours#and i forgot there was like a legal difference between part time and full time employees#like i said. bit dense sometimes. im very smart but i miss things#anyway he was like 'why dont you just work 10-5 this week'#and there was this vibe of like. he didnt want me to work full hours & i couldnt figure out WHY#he was like 'oh we dont want to burn you out' & i was like. ok#i thought maybe they didnt have enough for me to do b/c im still training & i commented on that#& everyone was like 'oh we have so much work for you lol'#theyre behind on Webbed Site#and he reeeeeaaally emphasized how important it was that employees take their full lunch break#and i thought. huh. good that he cares i guess#and when i asked for a specific day off & to go home early another day they just immediately agreed#like fast enough that it seemed Odd to me#idk bro maybe im just reading into things too much but it explains like 4 things i was confused about#occam's razor right?#10 to 5 minus an unpaid 1-hour lunch works out to exactly 30 hrs per week#part time is < 30 hrs per week and full time is >= 30#so that would still put me at full time if it was 10-5 every day but my boss might not know which way the >= goes#and it isnt every day because i asked for a day off#i miss how straightforward retail was lmao#like it sucked in many ways but at least they were very clear about their expectations#personal#i think im going to ask for fewer hours next week. im tired

this is so funny to me actually bcuz this is 100% how i talk abt my characters ages. i know what YEAR they were born and i know what rheir ages are supposed to be at the start of the story but i dont actually know when it takes place?? im really bad at math. There was a moment where rainbow was supposed to be 23 and i somehow accidentally made her 17 lmfao
#theoretically it would take place in 2021 bcuz thats when i created my object ocs but the more time passes#the weirder it feels to have it take place years in the past#i considered moving up their birthdays by a few years but like. idk i like their birthdays theyre cute :3#bubblegum is SUPPOSED TO BE 15 and she was born july 2007#watermelon is supposed to be 7 and he was born june 2014#etc etc#starr is 27 and she was born september uhhh 1995 or 1997 i actually dont remember. whichever one makes sense#also that would mean building block was born in 2020 and since she's always gonna be a baby the furhter away we get#it means that she wouldnt have even been born when the story is actually supposed to take place. Like#i know their birthdays and their ages and what year they were born everybody else has to do the math#to figure out wtf is going on because I DONT KNOW#also that means that building block would be a pandemic baby lmao 😭#what was rhe vibe in nigeria in august 2020 during the pandemic. well i say that like it even happened in their universe#which there really isnt any reason for that to be true#it isnt historically important to mention like..... world war two or slavery or whatever. fucking obviously. in the context of objects#it gets messy so its better to just Not#also the months the characters were born really fuck me up bcuz jayden was born in late december#so for most of the first year that they met he would be.... younger than he actually is being born in 2003#but since building's block birthday and exact age is the most important timeline-wise#and she was born august 14th 2020 and she's seven months old when they first meet#then it canonically would take place in march 2021 which was my original intention#bcuz that is the actual date that i first created my object ocs#ANYWAY. boring character age ramblings#but its hard to keep track of so i dont even blame the author!!!! birthdays are weird and hard to keep up w/#when you dont know exactly when your story is supposed to take place#assuming its in a normal-ish world im sure fantasy ocs dont have this problem#txt#object ocs

Some of my favorite mini art supplies for on the go! Doing plein air with a teeny sketchbook and teeny paints is unmatched. These palettes are about the size of an eraser so they don’t hold much paint, but I don’t mind refilling them! An easy trade for how I can just throw them in an everyday small pencil case and not have to worry about any bulk.
I also put them on top of one of my other already portable palettes that has half pans in it so you can really get how small these are lol they are really teensy!

YOOOOO I just got a job offer at the dispensary I interviewed at last week!!! :D that's so exciting!!!
