A diligent and kind-hearted reptilian monster who continues to crumble and break down underneath the weight of her studies. She was once passionate about science, with an unquenchable curiosity for all the answers yet unknown. Yet over time, she has grown frail and her mind has become nothing but a slave to fixing the problem the underground faces. She starves as her mind hungers for the data and answers to fix this mess.

She often falls asleep in her lab, only ever for an hour or two and waking due to nightmares. She sees eyes in her dreams, peering upon her with the pressure of the world, as she is the only one capable of freeing monsterkind. Or, all the info you need to know, for now :) (my art style is constantly changing though.. so I hope it'll stay consistent for at least a bit </3 and this drawing shall never be colored, sadly, because i suck at that)

Appearance desc: His hair is a dark brown, graying in some areas due to age, and probably stress. Its short and kept, mostly, out of his face. He’s fairly tan and has dark green eyes, dawning heavy eyebags to go along with them. He’s pretty tall, standing at just 5’11, a little over by half an inch, and pretty well built despite his age; no hardcore muscles, but still fit. He has a few tattoos across his arms, a singular black line on both his arms near his wrist, sitting just under it. Has an upper arm sleeve tattoo on his right side, too. He also has some scaring, clearly seen by the one on his nose: some on his arms and legs, a bigger one on his back. He's always seen dressed in fancy suits, and people have yet to see him in anything else..

Persona synopsis: What's there to say about the mayor of Starfall? I suppose we could start with the fact that he's quite the asshole, in laymen's terms. He has no regards to others feelings, to their desires or emotions. Not empathetic in the slightest. He'll do whatever he needs to, use whatever resources he has, to get what he wants. He also doesn't joke around, ever. Not once can anyone recall a time where he's acted playful rather than his usual stoic and seriousness. It's a bit saddening, really. A sad, mean old man with no whimsy in his life. But it's fine, because he quite enjoys where he's at. How he lives.

Audiodrama Sunday 3/16/2025

Happy Audiodrama Sunday! I missed last week, and didn't take notes on half the things I listened to, so there's just going to be a list of other shows I listened to this week at the end of this post.

Campaign: Skyjacks - The bird race was so hype. Gable was incredible! And then holy shit ep 26 was incredible! So many lore drops and the editing was so good, it felt like a really well paced TV episode. So sad that JPC is gone. 

Starwhal Odyssey - The replacement for luminaries in this show are great. I love the idea of making a set of themes to draw as part of worldbuilding, I might have to do that at some point for a game. Also. they could easily run an entire campaign just within Corneria, it’s such a cool setting.

At the Bottom of the Garden - Is the delayed episode release part of the metanarrative? I can’t tell! So far the hidden message in the shownotes spells “the fellows”.

Rude Tales of Magic - the evil monologue about a spagetti recipe was actually incredible. The intonation was *perfect*. Oh shit there was a post credit scene in this ep! Have all the episodes had them?

@kingmakerpod - A lot of plot in this episode. Parts of this episode feels relevant to recent events in a way that is really quite concerning.

@midnightburgr - So much went down here. They failed to stop Krok, all they actually did was get away. He’s still torturing a galaxy. I predict next season will be about figuring out what Krok is afraid of and how to use it.

DOODLE WORLD: STARFALL WORLDBUILDING POST!!!!!

i haven't been able to focus on making DW Starfall art due to uni, so here's some worldbuilding about the AU and info about its main cast under the cut in the meantime

to recap: Doodle World: Starfall is a fantasy-futuristic AU where humanity discovers magic in the cosmos, after their technological advent into space. so far, all of humanity can only use basic magics, and each individual is limited to only one type. however, across the planets are 'Artifacts' (which replace the Keys) which are said to be able to break the mold and ascend someone into mastery of magics. the protagonist is replaced with an OC - Rose Aurelius, a sorcerer and archivist who came from another world to learn about this one, but gets herself wrapped up in the mystery of the Artifacts.

DoodleCo owns several planets which are in close proximity with each other - each planet houses a different district of cities, and transportation to each planet is done by public spaceships.

Earth remains as the main planet, where the main DoodleCo headquarters has been built. however, the story begins on the smallest planet of the 5 that are owned by DoodleCo - Eria.

the Adventurer Unit becomes the Explorers Unit, who are tasked with discovering new planets across the galaxy.

DoodleCo is still ran by the same canon characters

as for the main cast, most of them maintain their canon personalities, with some tweaks.

TJ is a tamer who joins the Explorers Unit in hopes of making a great discovery. he wants to find the Artifacts, since he's well practiced in magic, and wants to expand his skills in it. however, he isn't the best at Doodle battling, though he aims to improve. he's got a knack for finding his way through places, even if he hasn't been there before

Quincy, son of DoodleCo's CEO, Charles, is one of the few humans who lack the ability to conjure magic, and it haunts him. he makes up for it with his excellent Doodle battling strategies, and one thick wall of ego (tinged with shame) to seal his only insecurity away.

Portia is the daughter of the (still-living) Rebecca, second founder of DoodleCo. she's confident and ready to jump into any action anytime, but occasionally fears she will not live up to her mother's feats. she is obsessed with aliens

Suzie is a bit of a loner who drowns herself in biology studies to distract herself from the fact that she cannot taste (and by extent, smell) anything. she fears it has cost her a lot of what would've been cheerful childhood memories. hence, she works herself to the bone for a cure

fun fact: Portia and Suzie are together

Mr. Riffraff was the third founder of DoodleCo, and the one that was constantly pushing towards technological advancements through ethical means. when he found out that DoodleCo was using Somniere and Verdrok's power to fuel their magitech (magic + technology), he left in anger, and vowed to free the both of them.

Teneson is the right hand of Charles, and seeks order. he despises Riffraff for abandoning DoodleCo for the reason he did. Teneson believes that sacrifices must be made for the greater good, and aims to stop Riffraff from freeing the two.

bonus:

Junjie, the subway guy, is hired by DoodleCo and becomes the head of all public spaceships. he's an open and outgoing guy that occasionally goes behind DoodleCo's back for the sake of the people. people over power is his belief and he is loyal to that

finally, the main protagonist... Rose Aurelius. a cosmic sorcerer, and the Avatar of the Constellation, Lynx, who archives the flora and fauna of different worlds. she takes on a humanoid guise during her time on DoodleCo's planets, and originally only aimed to be an observer to the events of the Artifact Hunt. however, she met Riffraff, who constantly got in her way of archiving, and was intrigued by his goal of freeing Somniere and Verdrok, and decided to help him a little... only to end up becoming more than involved in the whole ordeal.

she's an old cranky and sassy woman who minds her own business most of the time. she does display care, albeit in a tougher way. she becomes the guardian of the main cast after constant encounters with this group of rambunctious kids, and the amount of times she's protected them from fantastical dangers and lectured them has led her to feel responsible for them. Rose cares a lot for them, but her tough exterior makes it difficult for them to see that

Rose and Riffraff are also a couple because i LOVE enemies to lovers and i love old people romance but that's a post for another time

This season is all about love- whether it's romantic or not, this issue of THE ECLIPSE has something for everyone, starring the heartthrob taking social media by storm. Founder and CEO of Dr. Love, and runner of the newest late-night show with a 'zine of his own on the way: everyone, welcome Cupid Amoré!

Interviewer: Thank you, Mr. Amoré for taking the time to sit with us. We know you must be busy.

Cupid: It's no problem at all! I'm honored you thought I was important enough to interview- the email startled me so bad I had to step away from my laptop! It was a little embarrassing...

I: Well I'm glad you found it so exciting! Getting straight into it, what are the basics of what you'd want the readers to know?

C: Hm. [pause] Obviously, there's my name, but that's likely been plastered all over the page by now. [chuckles] I guess from there it'd be my age, and so on- 34, as of right now. I'm a huge romantic- if you couldn't tell already. Mmn... [another pause] I don't really have a lot of nicknames- most people usually call me by my first name. Either that or my last. My favorite of all of them is 'squish', though. My sister gave it to me when I was younger.

I: 34? Wow! You seemed a lot younger- I wouldn't have guessed from your socials. And "Squish"- is there a particular reason behind it?

C: My sister would just say it's because my face was so fat. [sigh, a tired smile spreads on his face] She wasn't wrong, but I still want to whack her for it.

I: Siblings, am I right? Moving on, would you mind explaining the whole deal on your company, Dr. Love? It feels like it sprung up out of nowhere!

C: Well, I've actually run Dr. Love as a small online business for a while now, but only in recent months have we actually expanded into a "real" company. We sell products- mostly themed around couples, though our products can be bought by and gifted to anyone. Candies, cards, bouquets, etcetera. We even have a matchmaking service, and- ahem- 'items' for our older clients to enjoy on sale. Those ones are part of a...slightly different brand, though- the same one used for our late night show.

I: I see...it's nice to see you've taken the time to separate your adult and general brands. What inspired you to take this route? The type of business, I mean.

C: Love, of course! [chuckles] To be more specific, my love of love. I've lived in this city all my life- seen a manner of nasty things come about. I think if people took the time to slow down, and really take the time to appreciate themselves and the people around them- to interact without judgement, that Starfall can become a much better place. Too many people are on edge; trust is low- kindness to strangers is seen as some sort of novelty. If my company can help open hearts and change minds, well, I'd find that just wonderful.

I: An altruistic approach- don't you feel that's a bit naïve? With all the conflicts between humans and non-humans, not to mention the looming possibility of....well, I'm sure you've gotten your fair share of concerning fanmail yourself.

C: I have, and really, both of those issues are tragic to me, in a way. People are averse to change- I can see why someone with no experience would find the sudden appearance of non-humans jarring. Except, they aren't sudden- not in Starfall. They've been a long-standing part of our history. To try and push them out because of some sort of purity complex is, pardon my harsh words, stupid. Stupid and ignorant.

[pause]

C: And yes, that 'possibility' you've mentioned. I can't judge those people too harshly. At the end of the day, that type of behavior is more than your standard pushy fan. It's a sign of something deeper- it's something innate in that person. [frowns] I can't help but feel sad thinking about it. There are people who need help in this city. Real help. They're disturbed, but they're still people. I doubt they actively choose to be the way they are- it's unfortunate.

I: ...Of course. How genuine of you, Mr. Amoré. Aside from your business career, what can we come to expect from you? Publicity wise.

C: Of course there's the show- thinking about it is still nerve wracking, but I'll live. It's a late night show, nothing explicit, but I suggest streaming it after the young'ins have gone to bed. [winks] For our younger fluttering hearts, though, our magazine is all-ages, with an advice column for those struggling hearts in our community. We've been considering featuring some local stories in our magazine as well- meet cutes, self love stories...just things that make you feel fuzzy inside, you know?

I: Looks like we may have a bit of competition, eh? We're looking forward to its official release! Wrapping up now, any final words you have or our readers?

C: I am too. As for final words, not many, surprisingly. I just wish to thank those who have supported me up until this point, and welcome all those who decide to join the little community we've crafted. I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have without your help. Other than that, continue to spread as much love as you can- you never know who really needs it.

There is a weird reverence for the existance and evolution of starfalls in the planetnid society because they see it as them being taken into better hands by nature that isn't the Oort Cloud's and even though it's very disturbing, nature is something that they're not used to and are fascinated by and being claimed by it, even though it's natural, is very special for them :]

Also!!! There are the bone bees and the bony piculet (not actually a piculet)!! Replacement for the bone ants and are a MASSIVE KEYSTONE SPECIES

The inside of planetnids are mostly huge expanses of empty space once the muscle and organs are gone but the bone bees(wasps?) actually make these massive bone-wax mounds/structures within the exoskeletons and are solely responsible for the terrain and environment within the exoskeletons that everything in there depends on once the muscle mass disappears.

One thing that does depend on it is the bony piculet, a bunch of woodpeckers (another resident of starfalls that make their nests in the solid teeth of the exoskeleons) that evolved to feed on and navigate the mounds. Their wings are beginning to degenerate in favor of claws but they are still able to glide a little bit.

weird sidenote. I actually began to wonder how planetnids would taste because the prospect of them being eaten by humans would be another little sprinkle of Fucked Up Salt on the mound of Fucked Up Salt but i realized that the umami flavor of meat is largely based on fat and therefore planetnids would taste like SHIT

planetnids, particularly the "comet" ones are not only emaciated but their fat is largely concentrated in two areas (their abdomen and most recently the palm of their hands, and this fat is extremely concentrated in these spots. there's like barely any marbling) and therefore it would be terribly sad meat at worst and below average at best. so no planetnid meat. good

He used to be... scary as shit. lurking around abandoned areas with a gas mask and saw in hand. Don't worry guys he's just there to take pictures.

The gas mask, he wears mainly due to his fear of black mold but it also serves the purpose of hiding his identity if he gets caught trespassing. He carries the saw just to help get into places but it generally is a good idea to have some self defense on you just in case since you're in a place where no-one will find you

His exploration of various abandoned places actually leads to a mindfuck within Miguel because he continually recognizes the levels Miguel shows him. Though, it is a little funny that Miguel was always his type

Starfall

A starfall is a multi-explosive bomb that is occasionally used in solo missions of the army, typically when there is a huge cluster of enemies or a whole base needs to go. It can be programed to either explode once or up to five times as there is a highly reactive material withing the spherical bomb that is separated by four dividers made from the same durable metal as the shell, with each exploring sending shrapnel to damage anyone who hasn't basically been vaporized. Depending on how many charges its set to explode results in the number of dividers involved.

One explosion means one no dividers, two explosions mean one dividers, three means two dividers, and so on.

The explosive material within the Starfall is reactive with the force exerted when struck, specifically with a powerful kick or a blunt object. As such, the tech used is specially made with shock absorption in mind which means it won't detonate when dropped a short distance, though if dropped from a high altitude it can result in something similar to a nuke.

The lowest rank someone needs to be in order to use such is Captain, and Captains need permission to use such a device.
