Vickie’s boyfriend Dan hates Fast Times. He trashes it for the plot. He doesn’t care about that Phoebe Cates scene. According to the laws of this show, Dan isn’t attracted to women. Obviously that’s not how it works in real life but that’s a rule set up by the show. If you like women, you like Fast Times. Therefore, Vickie’s boyfriend Dan, who is visiting on spring break, is gay. Dan, who broke up with his girlfriend while visiting her for spring break, JUST LIKE MIKE DID, is gay. How did I never notice that Mike isn’t just paralleled to Vickie, he’s paralleled to friggen Dan!

I’m sure lots of people have noticed this before but I totally missed it. I was so focused on the fact that Vickie likes fast times that I didn’t stop to think about the fact that Dan DIDN’T like it! I’m also just now noticing that both Dan and Mike are rocking the bangs and long hair combo too. Vickie also tells Robin that Dan was really getting on her nerves before he left, which I think El could relate to considering she looked pretty done with Mike in the back of that cop car. 😅

the way people use robin and vickie as a retort against bylers makes my blood boil they're not "the actually canon sapphic couple" people should focus on instead of byler they literally have three scenes and aren't together and they did such a shit job at establishing them that only 3% of the fandom thinks about them more than once a week. are you really saying that that's the great representation we should all be grateful for

There’s this one specific thing that I find hilarious about the ‘Robin use to have a crush on Barb before she abandoned her for Nancy’ head canon because that would create a very interesting coincidence/pattern.

Everyone lives au, but Billy is still a piece of shit, but he left Max and her friends alone like he promised in season 2. Because of that he has no idea with who Max and Steve became friends with, but all of them know who Billy Hargrove is and they won't let him have peace.

Billy is lifeguarding on the pool when suddenly he get hit by a ball and the blond hair girl that threw it do not apologise. She shows him a middle finger instead.

His parents force him to pick up Max from her friends and once he got there some guy with curly hairs is looking at him like he is ready to throw hands.

He is chilling when some redhead blows a clarnet into his ear and run away before he can even react.

He almost got run over by a pizza truck and the driver flip him off. Once someone spilled a drink on him and and once his own drink blow up in his hand. He goes to buy drugs from a local diller and the guy tell him he heard of him and to get out. He goes to rent a movie and a girl that works there, same girl from the pool, tells him they don't have a movie he wants, despite the fact he can see that she is holding a VHS. Guy legit cannot go a week without getting harass or something and has no idea what is going on, why suddenly like 6-7 random people he never met started to hate him.

Meanwhile Steve is begging them to stop, because he doesn't want them to get in troubles, but they refuse. Because if you mess with one of them, you mess with all of them

i still don’t understand the claim that robin didn’t ramble around vickie because she likes her and wanted to listen to her and/or likes her enough that she feels comfortable around her. for one thing, if A. was the case, why is that not what happened at the rally? and if B. was the case, how come she still had a slight tendency to ramble around nancy even after spending more time with her than she ever did vickie? 

like... this is only the second time she’s been around vickie? (third if you really want to count the scene where vickie’s sucking face with her boyfriend, but i’d call that reaching.) am i really supposed to believe robin is completely chill and comfortable with her crush that quickly? because i don’t.

and the argument about robin not doing it because she wants to listen feels really... disrespectful? rude? (i don’t know the adjective i’m looking for) with regards to real people who have a tendency to ramble, either due to having a crush or because they’re autistic etc. because rambling isn’t always something you can control? like, it just happens lol, and sometimes you don’t even realize you’re doing it until someone stops you. 

so to be like, “oh, robin didn’t ramble because she cares and wanted to listen,” almost sounds like, “oh, if you ramble, that means you don’t care and don’t want to listen.” at least, to me, anyway. also she literally still rambles around steve lmao, and i think you’ll be hard-pressed to convince most people that robin doesn’t care about him.

anyway, all this to say that i personally got the vibe that she realized vickie isn’t the one for her and/or isn’t the person she thought she was, as is often the case when people get to know their crushes. seeing her snogging her boyfriend put things into perspective for robin, and listening to her at the charity drive (or w/e) kind of solidified for her that, okay, vickie’s nice, but it turns out she isn’t actually what i’m looking for.

honestly can we consider the circumstances surrounding Vickie returning fast times at ridgemond high with it paused on boobs?

So maybe she watched it and then went back to pause on that frame to stare at it. Questioning teen girl in the 80s it makes sense.

But then how did she not think to rewind before returning it that way? She has to know her peers work there and they'll be the ones to see it when they're doing rewinds?

Maybe it was like, she had it up and then oops her dad or boyfriend or someone shows up. Quickly! Take it out of the VHR before he sees! And then she forgot to rewind it before returning it. Or like, someone was doing her a favor and returned it for her before she could.

These passing details about Vicky make her low-key mysterious but I don't think it'll take us anywhere in canon (we don't have time for that anyway). She doesn't like, come across as mysterious but our collection of knowledge about her is interesting.

I kinda wanna characterize her as insecure and like, that's why she kind of tries to emulate molly ringwald lol. And that kind of gives some depth to the whole pausing on boobs thing. Just see her alone like struggling with these feelings (maybe for Robin!) and trying to test her own sexuality by staring at boobs lol. That makes the whole exchange in The War Zone more interesting too! Like she's struggling with her sexuality, specifically her feelings for Robin, and then suddenly Robin sees her being kissed by her boyfriend and she's like caught between these two worlds. The world with her boyfriend being kinda like, the familiar but increasingly unfitting, and the world of Robin being increasingly appealing yet scary and maybe even lonely (bc she only thinks her feelings are her own). But it doesn't feel lonely when she's actually With Robin! It feels all wrong, however, having those two worlds cross. They're not meant to. It's like even robin somehow knows since she runs away.

Also maybe Vickie's tendency to mimic out of an insecure sense of self is why in her nervous state she kind of emulates Robin.

Also don't get me started on her being casually in the War Zone? So much to unpack there. Is her boyfriend a big gun guy? She seemed pretty at home there lol enjoying herself. I forget if she was looking at something specific. Maybe someone in her family used to take her camping or taught her archery or something and she was Reminiscing while waiting for her bf to pick up whatever he needed. What did he need? Honestly who knows. I would say maybe he wanted to buy a gun bc recent events made him want to protect himself/Vickie, but she seemed so casual and chill it just wouldn't be fitting for that kind of shopping trip. I know the duffers like to play fast and loose with tone and the gravity of situations but I don't have to.
