I love that Robin and Vickie are both nerds for band but they are also both cool nerds dressing in a cool way and I bet Vickie loves Robin's style and started a conversation with her during band practice about how cool her outfit was and asking her where she bought it and then Robin started panicking because as she looked at her she had immediately the biggest crush and thought Vickie had the most beautiful smile she ever saw and loved her red hair and then when they started talking a bit she found herself liking her more and more and loving how positive and bubbly Vickie is and just wanting to spend so much time with her and make her laugh and started daydreaming about asking her out on a date only the two of them 💗

Q: Alright for real though, sound off your old timey log in icon!
A: Hmmmmm. Soccer ball. It's an ancient sport with an interesting history.

E: Astronaut, of course.
F: The jet plane!

H: A hole in the wall is a hotel for mice, if you think about it, though their interior design leaves something to be desired.
I: One of those ancient rockets. Simple fuel, but part of a big step.
J: The dog I think. Its gentle expression reminds me of dear Romeo.
K: I want the car too, it definitely is my color.
L: Chelmon rostratus, the Copperband Butterflyfish
M: Skateboarder!
N: The daisy's orange like me. n_n
O: STUNT BIKE.

smut prompt 4 with robin perhaps?
"You okay? You’re acting strange” “Yup! Yep yep yep couldn’t be better. Just a little hot- is anyone else hot?”
Absolutely my dear. Always up for Robin requests. I hope this is what you wanted and you enjoy it 🫶🏻😉
⚠️smut ahead, oral sex
Dream girl
Tumblr media
Y/N has been Robin's best friend for years. The two did everything and anything together, connected by the hip, and always together. Over that time Y/N got lost in the way she felt for Robin. The way her heart raced when Robin grabbed her hand or played with her hair. She wanted to ignore the butterflies in her stomach when Robin's baby blues looked into her eyes.
But one problem
Robin was in love with someone else.
Robin's latest crush was on Vickie, a gorgeous redhead in band. Y/N cursed herself for not joining band. It killed Y/N to know Robin didn't see her the way she wanted, but it was something she had to accept.
It was a Friday night and Y/N dragged Robin to a random party. Her arm wrapped around Robin's waist as they walked in. Within a few hours, a game of Spin the Bottle started and Y/N begged Robin to play. Maybe praying for the small chance she'll finally kiss Robin.
"I don't want to kiss a stranger!" Robin cried, the anxiety in her stomach as she took in the circle.
"Look! Vickie is playing. You can make her jealous! Or even kiss her! It's a win-win." Y/N explained, successfully getting Robin into the circle.
It took a few turns until the bottle landed on Y/N. She kissed the random guy then spun the bottle, her fingers crossed behind her back. Her heart sped up as the bottle landed on Robin, across the circle.
Robin didn't know what to do, but she felt her body burn as Y/N crawled across the circle. The boys cheered like the idiots they were. Robin looked like a deer caught in headlights.
"Don't look so scared, Rob. It's just a kiss." Y/N whispered, gently straddling Robin's lap. Her hands cupped Robin's cheeks and then she leaned in. Y/N had one chance and she had to make it count. Her lips were hot and heavy on Robin's as she took control. Y/N slipped her tongue in Robin's mouth, immediately turned on by how delicious she tasted. Y/N's hands moved into Robin's hair and gave it soft tugs. A sense of pride in her stomach as Robin whimpered and kissed her back.
Once Y/N pulled away for air, she moved back to her spot. A smirk on her face as Robin stared.
Robin never once looked at Y/N as anything more, always stuck on a random girl and then Vickie. But now all she could think about was the amazing feeling of Y/N's tongue against hers. Robin coughed and spun the bottle, shivering as she felt the wetness in her underwear.
She couldn't believe she just made out with her best friend..... And liked it.
~~~
Robin tried to move on but nothing changed. It was just a game and she knew it wasn't supposed to mean anything. But now she couldn't help but remember the way the kiss felt and how good it felt. Robin kept focus on Vickie but she was slipping more and more away.
Robin sat next to Y/N as they watched a movie. Every other Friday they had a sleepover, and now Robin feared she wouldn't sleep at all. How could she lay side by side next to her? Her heart raced just by sitting this close to her and accidentally bumping her hand when they both grabbed popcorn.
~
Robin was zoned in on the movie until she heard Y/N start to speak.
"So how are things with Vickie after the party? She seemed jealous to me." Y/N smirked as she crunched on a piece of popcorn. Robin tried to hide the blush on her cheeks as she once again thought back to the party.
"Good! She wants to hang out tomorrow but I'm a little nervous." Robin admitted.
"Why?" Y/N asked, pausing the movie as she gave Robin her full attention.
"Well after the party, she and I kissed right? And I know how to kiss. But if she wants to go further...I don't know what to do." Robin said shyly.
"You mean like sex?" Y/N asked, her head turned to the side as she tried to understand.
"Sex, oral, and all of it. I've never done anything and I don't know how to please anyone." Robin knew Y/N was her best friend but she felt embarrassed to admit it.
Robin focused on her embarrassment and didn't notice Y/N slowly sliding off the bed. She grabbed the bowl and set it on the floor. Her hands landed on Robin's thighs, causing Robin to jump.
"What are you doing?" Robin stuttered, her body on fire as Y/N began to rub her thighs.
"I'm gonna help you, silly." Y/N laughed, Robin wasn't sure what she meant, but then Y/N tugged down Robin's sleep shorts and she got the hint.
"You don't have to," Robin rushed out but Y/N was already reaching for Robin's underwear.
"I know I don't. But I want to. This is up to you. I'll stop if you want me to." Y/N said as she looked up. Robin felt the breath get stuck in her lungs as Y/N looked up at her between her thighs.
Robin didn't know what to say but she knew she wanted it. She moved over and laid down. Giving Y/N room to join her back on the bed. Y/N smiled and followed her movements. She climbed on the bed and settled between Robin's thighs.
"Just take it slow. You'll grab her underwear and slowly slide it off her body." Y/N instructed her soft hands trailed Robin's underwear down her legs. The cold air hit Robin's cunt and it made her shiver.
"Tease her thighs and legs. Add soft kisses and show affection." Robin tried to listen to what Y/N was teaching her but her hands skimming up Robin's thighs and her lips kissing Robin's stomach had her head spinning.
"I usually like to start with two fingers, either suck your fingers or have her do it," Y/N said, taking a second to suck her fingers before pushing them inside of Robin's cunt. Robin immediately moaned out and clenched.
"Shh, relax. Let your body relax." Y/N cooed, her free hand rubbing Robin's thigh to calm her down. Robin nodded and unclenched. Y/N began to slide her fingers in and out of Robin, explaining what she was doing and why. But Robin wouldn't hear a thing. Too lost in the feeling of her best friend fingering her into bliss.
"Once you think she's ready, you can do this," Y/N said, then Robin felt her tongue begin to lick her clit. Robin gasped at the new feeling, Y/N licked and sucked on Robin's clit gently.
Robin wasn't sure what took over her but her hands reached out and grasped Y/N's hair. She panted and moaned as her hips began to rock against Y/N's face. But Y/N didn't stop her, just went with the new motion Robin started.
Robin's breathing picked up when Y/N's fingers went faster and her mouth began to suck hard on Robin's clit. Robin felt a tight feeling in her stomach, she tried to mumble out words but it came out as whimpers and whines.
Y/N removed her mouth but kept her fingers working inside of Robin.
"Feeling tight? Feel like you need to cum?" Y/N asked a twisted smile on her face that made Robin moan louder than she'd ever had.
Robin nodded and whimpered, her thighs clenching and her legs began to shake. Her heels kicked against the mattress and her back arched. Y/N was quick to work Robin through her orgasm, adding her mouth back to her clit.
Y/N licked up the mess Robin made, cleaning off Robin's thighs and cunt. She softly removed her fingers, allowing Robin to taste herself as Y/N put her fingers on Robin's tongue.
"Clean her up and tell her how beautiful she looked when she came on your tongue and fingers," Y/N whispered as she leaned down and pecked Robin's lips gently.
Robin jolted as she felt someone shaking her. Her eyes snapped open, the movie credits played as Y/N stood above her with a big smirk.
"You alright there, Rob? You passed out and started whimpering." Y/N teased. Robin immediately flushed with embarrassment.
She had a sex dream of her best friend. RIGHT NEXT TO HER.
Robin sat up quickly and felt how hot her body was. She was sweating and her heart pounded.
"Yeah..just..yeah..I'm cool." Robin stuttered out. Trying her best to avoid Y/N's eyes. Robin shifted and immediately regretted it as she felt a pool of wetness in her underwear.
"You okay? You’re acting strange, even for you.” Y/N asked a little concerned as Robin sounded like she struggled to breathe.
“Yup! Yep yep yep couldn’t be better. Just a little hot- are you hot? I need air." Robin rushed out, standing up and heading to the bathroom to splash water on her face.
Robin was so fucking screwed.
Mami had promised to take you with her if you showed that you could be on your best behavior which you did and tomorrow you get the vist the barça girles.
You we're so excited that you went to bed early praying that tomorrow would come really quick.
Mami had gotten you this all black training kit that was just for you which the girls fanned over cause of how adorable they found you in it.
Irene woke you up a little earlier than the usual time she gets you up. after getting you and her dressed it was time for breakfast she gave you some waffles and sausage and grape juice one of your favorites.
You thought to yourself that today must be really special since mami gave you a special breakfast something different from what you usually have.
"Mami up up car now finish eating can we go to prawctice now". You asked basically rushing her, for a soon to be five fingers old you speak very well.
"un momento baby let mami finish cleaning up before we go okay why don't you go make sure we got everything packed in your training bag okay".she told
"Okay". you told her before running of to make sure you had everything.
"Aye cariño, no corras". she told you
Finally arriving at practice with what felt like eternity you had gotten excited the moment mamì pulled up at the parking lot. With that you'd Immediately taken off your sit belt from your big girl car sit and opening the car door to run off.
Irene who quickly parked properly before scolding you. to make sure no one got hurt along with you.
"Oh dios mio Ileana we don't do that". she told you with the scary voice.
"lo siento mami". you told her before taking her hand after worrying her with the stunt you had pulled just now.
"Ai Irene don't be harsh on the little one she's just having a little fun".
mapi came into the conversation after spotting you both getting out and your crazy little stunt.
"Maria your child might be allowed to do crazy stuff but that doesn't mean my should". Irene told her injured teammate.
Before both adults could say any more you had spotted Caro and Marta coming out of their car.
which you sprinted your little legs over to them.
"Ro Ro Ta Ta". You said greeting the couple as they picked you up.
"nena how are you". Marta said while holding your hands so you wouldn't run away from irene again.
"Good me go training today". you told her
" We can see darling how about we walk in together while your mama gets your stuff". she said
"Irene wil take her inside with us". caro told her.
"Thank you guys don't run around while I'm not there Peque stay with you aunties and wait for me bébé . She told you.
The whole day training was fun you got to spend the whole day with your favorite aunties and wacht the youngsters pull one of the funniest pranks on the older girls you'd laugh even though mamí told you not too.
You'd got passed around training to see what different excerise the girls were doing. You had play time with vicky esme and jana who had fun playing dolly with you.
After a while Irene finally let you go more further into the pitch with your ball but you had to stay closer.
You tried getting way more distant than you should cause you saw a group of butterfly and seek them out.
Until you got pulled back by lucy who saw you trying to escape your original spot.
"Where are going Peque". She questioned you
"Butterfly". you pointed for her to see before running around trying to catch them.
"Ileana what did we say about running around like this in practice". Mami scolded you
"Irene let her have a little fun she's been very good the whole day let her chase". Alexia butted in especially after seeing how happy you look.
"Fine don't run that much bèbè". she yelled so you could hear.
"gracias mami". You told her before chasing after the butterfly with mapi who honestly couldn't keep up with a four year old
"Ai marià you can't keep up with four year old or what".alexia told her with a teasing tone making the whole group laugh.
"She's very fast even you yourself wouldn't be able to keep up". mapi said trying to catch her breath she was definitely done chasing a four year old and butterflies.
Irene came swooping you up and carrying you so you could get a better view of the lovely butterfly and how pretty they're. you tried catching them now that you were closer but
"No we don't hurt them". Mami told you with her stern voice.
"but I want. You tried telling her
"No Peque you can't have them okay".
"Fine". you said grumpy but to tired too do anything.
The ended with you falling asleep on the drive back home mama had gotten you a new toy butterfly. and made you your special spaghetti that you got all over yourself thinking you could feed yourself.
"Steve, come on." Robin's eyes bore into him, the frustration palpable. Steve knows that look, knows it means he's missing something, but he can't quite figure out what.
"It's just, Liz was nice, okay? We had a nice time." Even as he says it, he knows it's a weak argument. The word 'nice' feels hollow, a placeholder for something he can't quite define.
Robin rolls her eyes. "Steve, 'nice' is what you call a weather forecast, not a date. If you were really into her, you'd have more to say."
"She laughed at my jokes, she looked pretty, she smelled nice—"
"But did you feel anything? Sparks? Butterflies? Anything more than just... niceness?" Robin interrupts, her voice softer now, more concerned than frustrated.
Steve opens his mouth to respond, but nothing comes out. He's always been good at charming his way through dates, but there's been an emptiness lately, a disconnect he can't quite explain.
Robin sighs, her expression softening. "Steve, you deserve more than just 'nice'. You deserve someone who makes you feel alive."
Steve glances away, feeling a pang of discomfort. He doesn't want to admit it, but Robin's words hit home. The hollow feeling he's been carrying around, the absence of excitement and genuine connection, has been gnawing at him. He knows she's right, but the thought of confronting it feels too overwhelming. Before he can dwell on it, he decides to change the subject. "I’m picking up Lily from Eddie’s later. You wanna come over and watch a movie tonight?”
Robin raises an eyebrow but plays along. "Would love to, but Vickie and I are going on a date. She’s finally got a night off at work and I plan on making the most of it.”
Steve waggles his eyebrows. “Someone’s getting laid tonight.”
“God, I really hope so. A girl has needs, Steve. Needs.”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it,” Steve laughs. “I’ll tell my daughter that her auntie Robbie prefers her girlfriend over her goddaughter. I’m sure she’ll understand.”
Robin half laughs, half groans. “Oh my God, don’t say it like that. You know I love spending time with Lily, it’s just…”
“Robs, I was joking. I know you do. I’m happy for you and Vickie. Go out, have a great night with the love of your life. Lily and I won’t run away.”
Robin nudges his shoulder with hers, her smile warm but tinged with concern. “Thanks, Steve. You know, you deserve that kind of happiness too.”
Steve's smile falters slightly, his eyes flickering away. “Yeah, well...”
“Steve,” Robin says softly, “you don’t have to pretend with me. I know you’re still hurting.”
He lets out a heavy sigh, running a hand through his hair. “It’s not that simple, Robs. I can’t just… move on. Not when I see Eddie all the time because of Lily.”
Robin’s gaze softens even more, and she places a hand on his arm. “You don’t have to move on, but you do need to face how you feel. Avoiding it isn’t helping anyone, least of all you.”
He looks at her, his eyes big and pleading. Why is it still so hard, even after all these months? “I don’t know what you want me to say. That I still love him? That every time I see him, it feels like someone’s twisting a knife in my chest? Because it does, okay? But that doesn’t change anything.”
“Oh Steve” Robin says, voice full of the same pain he’s feeling. He knows how much it’s hurting her to see him in pain, that’s why he’s been trying to hide it from her. “Maybe it doesn’t change what happened, but it could change what happens next. You and Eddie were great together. And from what I hear, he’s been just as lost without you.”
Steve blinks, surprised. “What do you mean?”
Robin takes a deep breath, deciding to take the plunge. “Eddie… he’s been different since you two broke up. Chrissy said he’s been distant, not just with you but with everyone. I think he’s hurting just as much as you are.”
Steve’s heart aches at the thought of Eddie in pain. “Then why didn’t he say anything? Why didn’t he try to fix things?”
It's true, it was Steve who said those last words: Maybe we should break up. He hadn't said it because he didn't love Eddie anymore. But they fought all the time, about everything. When they first started dating, things had been so much easier. They never had big fights, just little things that would be fixed in no time before they had great make-up sex.
All that changed when they adopted Lily. He could never, not for one second, regret the miracle that was their little girl. But she showed them in bright technicolor all the things that weren't working between them.
Suddenly, money became a real problem. So did their jobs and hobbies, and the way Eddie could never clean up after himself, and Steve's tendency to become a mother hen and a control freak, with his anxiety making him moody and bitchy.
Breaking up had seemed like the most logical step, and when Steve had suggested it, Eddie had just hung his head and said, "Maybe you're right. Lily shouldn't grow up with her dads fighting all the time."
And that was it. They separated. There was no yelling, no slammed doors, no broken dishes. Just silence, devastating and final in a way that no fight between them had ever been.
"Maybe he thought you would be better off without him. Or maybe he's just as scared as you are," Robin suggests gently, pulling Steve out of his thoughts. "Look, all I'm saying is maybe tonight could be a chance for the two of you to talk. Really talk."
Steve shakes his head, conflicted. "I don't know if I can, Robs. What if it just makes things worse?"
Robin squeezes his arm reassuringly. "Or what if it makes things better? You won't know until you try. And you both deserve to be happy, together or apart. But you have to give yourselves the chance to find out. It's been two years, Steve. Don't you think the fact that you're still in love with him means something?"
"I think it means I'm really bad at moving on and letting things go. Look how long it took me to get over Nance."
"It's not the same and you know it. You and Eddie... I've never seen you look as happy as when you were with him. And I know you two ended things for a reason, but Chrissy told me that Eddie has gotten really good at the whole adult thing, y'know. And he takes good care of Lilly. Even toddler-proofed the recording studio so he could take her with him."
The thought makes him smile. He didn't know that, but it makes a warm feeling spread in his chest.
Steve exhales, the weight of her words settling heavily on his shoulders. "All right, I'll think about it. But no promises."
Robin gives him an encouraging smile. "That's all I'm asking. Just... be honest with yourself, Steve. And with Eddie."
Steve nods, feeling a mixture of dread and anticipation. As he leaves to pick up Lily, Robin's words echo in his head. Should he be honest with Eddie? Tell him how much he misses waking up with Eddie's curls tickling his face, his warm body pressed against his own. Open up and admit how he still falls asleep on the couch wrapped in Eddie's Metallica hoodie? Explain to Eddie why the days they trade Lily are both the best and worst days of his week?
As he drives to Eddie's, memories flood his mind-their first date, the day they adopted Lily, the laughter, the love, the heartache. He's scared, but underneath the fear is a glimmer of hope. Robin said that Eddie might miss him, too. That he has grown. And Steve thinks maybe they both have. Because Steve realizes that he, too, has changed, has settled into his responsibilities as Lily's dad.
Maybe he'll ask Eddie to join him and Lily for their movie night, and then they can put her to bed together like they did when they first had her. Before everything blew up in their faces. And then, if things go well, he could open a bottle of wine for them and they could talk.
When he arrives at Eddie's apartment building, Steve has made up his mind, his heart beating faster at the thought that maybe, just maybe, they might get a second chance.
He knocks on the door with an almost giddy smile on his face, which only grows when the door is flung wide open before he's even finished knocking.
Lily jumps into his arms and Eddie steps into the door with a smile. They exchange a few words about Lily's visit with her dad, the usual polite conversation that feels painfully superficial to Steve. He can see the exhaustion in Eddie's eyes, the way his smile doesn't quite reach them, and it only makes his heart ache more.
Summoning his courage, Steve takes a deep breath. "Hey, I was wondering if you'd like to join Lily and me for a movie night tonight? Just like old times."
Eddie hesitates, and for a brief moment, Steve's heart lifts with hope. But then Eddie glances away, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Uh, I'd love to, Steve, but I actually have a date tonight."
The words hit Steve like a punch to the gut. He struggles to keep his composure, forcing a smile that feels like it's cracking his face. "Oh, that's great. I hope you have a good time."
"Thanks," Eddie replies, his gaze softening with concern. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Steve nods quickly, not trusting his voice to hold steady if he says more. "Yeah, of course. No worries. I just thought it would be nice. Anyway, have fun."
Eddie's eyes linger on Steve, as if searching for something unsaid, but he doesn't press further. Steve feels the weight of those eyes on his back as he turns to leave, Lily clutching his hand tightly. He tries to act normal, to hide the turmoil churning inside him, but every step away from Eddie's door feels like a step deeper into his own loneliness.
As they walk to the car, Lily chatters about her day, her innocent excitement a stark contrast to the storm brewing in Steve's heart. He listens, nodding and smiling at the right moments, but his mind is elsewhere, replaying the scene over and over.
When they finally reach the car, Steve lifts Lily into her seat and buckles her in, his hands trembling slightly. He takes a moment to compose himself before getting into the driver's seat, glancing at his daughter in the rearview mirror. Her wide, curious eyes meet his, and he forces another smile.
"Ready to go home, kiddo?" he asks, his voice strained but steady.
Lily nods enthusiastically, and as they drive away from Eddie's apartment, Steve's thoughts drift back to Robin's advice. Maybe he should be honest with Eddie, but tonight isn't the night. Tonight, he needs to focus on Lily, to find solace in the simple joy of spending time with his daughter.
At home, he helps Lily settle at the kitchen table with her crayons and coloring book before moving to make them dinner.
“Spaghetti-O's okay, baby?” he asks, already knowing her answer.
“Yayyy!” she cheers, lifting both arms in a way she clearly picked up from Eddie.
They both settle on the couch with their dinner on their laps, indulging in the treat as Steve starts the movie. Finding Dory, a movie Robin recommended. Lily is totally engrossed in the adventures on screen, giving Steve the freedom to let his mind wander. He tries to push those thoughts away, but the image of Eddie with some faceless guy keeps intruding.
It hurts, and he wonders again if he could have done something different. Maybe if he’d said something, told Eddie about his feelings earlier… He’s still convinced that breaking up was the right decision, that it wasn’t working and that Lily was the one suffering because of it. Back then, they had forgotten how to talk to each other. But now, Steve feels like they could re-learn, not just how to talk but how to be together, if they could give each other the time and space to do so.
He’s so lost in his thoughts that he doesn’t even hear the doorbell ring. It’s only when Lily pulls at his sleeve that he looks up.
“Huh?”
“Someone’s at the door.”
Steve's heart races as he moves to the door, unsure who could be visiting at this hour. He opens it to find Eddie standing there, a hesitant smile on his face. He’s not dressed up, instead wearing a well-worn pair of dark jeans and a soft-looking hoodie.
“Hey,” Eddie says softly.
“Hey,” Steve replies, his voice a mix of surprise and confusion. “I thought you had a date?”
Eddie scratches the back of his neck, looking a bit sheepish. “Yeah, about that… I canceled. Figured I’d rather be here with you and Lily. If that’s okay?”
Steve’s heart skips a beat, his mind racing. “Yeah, of course. Come in.”
Eddie steps inside, and Lily's face lights up. “Daddy Eddie!” she squeals, running to hug him. Eddie scoops her up, planting a kiss on her forehead.
“Hey, princess. How’s my favorite girl?”
“Good! We’re watching Finding Dory!” Lily announces proudly.
“Sounds like fun,” Eddie says, setting her down gently. He looks at Steve, his expression softening. “Can I join you?”
“Sure,” Steve says, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’ll get you a plate.”
As they settle back on the couch, the atmosphere is charged with unspoken words and lingering glances. Eddie sits beside Steve, close enough that their shoulders occasionally brush. It’s a small contact, but it sends shivers down Steve’s spine.
Throughout the movie, Steve finds it hard to concentrate. His mind is a whirl of emotions, questions, and hopes. He glances at Eddie, who seems equally distracted, though he’s making a valiant effort to engage with Lily and the movie.
When the credits finally roll, Lily is already half asleep, nestled between them. Eddie looks at her with a tender smile, then at Steve. "She's grown so much," he says softly. "Every time I look at her, I swear she's grown another inch."
"Yeah, she has," Steve agrees, his voice just as soft. "It doesn't help that you only see her every other week."
"Ouch," Eddie winces and Steve's head whips around.
"Oh God, Eddie, no! That's not what I meant. I feel like I've been putting my foot in my mouth around you lately," Steve says with big, pleading eyes and color in his cheeks, "What I meant to say is that Lily misses you, you know. We both do."
Eddie's face softens, his eyes flickering with feeling. "I miss being with both of you, too. Every day."
Steve's heart aches at the admission and he decides to take Robin's advice. "Eddie, I..." he begins, just as Eddie says, "Steve...."
Eddie hesitates for a moment before taking a deep breath. "Steve, I was getting ready for my date, but I couldn't stop thinking about the expression on your face when I told you. It was like a punch to the gut."
Steve's eyes widen in surprise, but he stays silent, letting Eddie continue.
"I realized in that moment that all I wanted was to spend the evening with you and Lily, like a family," Eddie says, his voice trembling slightly. "No date could ever measure up to the way I feel when I'm around you."
Steve's heart races, his breath catching in his throat. "Eddie, I... I don't know what to say."
Eddie reaches out, gently taking Steve's hand in his. "You don't have to say anything right now. Just... know that I still love you, Steve. I never stopped. And I miss us, more than words can say."
Steve's eyes fill with tears, his grip on Eddie's hand tightening. "I miss us too, Eddie. Every single day."
Eddie pulls Steve into a hug, their daughter still nestled between them. "Let's take it one step at a time, okay? For Lily. For us."
Steve nods, feeling a sense of hope he hasn't felt in a long time. "Yeah, one step at a time."
As they sit there, holding each other, Steve knows this is the beginning of something new. It won't be easy, but he's hopeful that they've both learned from past mistakes. This was their second chance, and he knows they'll make it this time. Together, as a family.
Icarus Part 18
Hey, guys! I'm back!!! I had a great and very productive hiatus, the results of which can be found here.
But tl;dr is that this story is complete, so it will be regularly updated on Sunday until it's done. Then I will release the story that started this all "The Rise of The Fallen" in two parts, also on Sundays. Which will take us all the to December, if you can believe it.
I'm still working on the other stories and at least The Hellfire Exotic Club (stripper), The Caged Bird Still Sings (sugar!baby), and Of Butterflies and Backstrokes (Olympic swimmer) are all going to be fairly long so that should be exciting. Then I'll be working on the fun little game show story now called "A Love Connection". Which won't come out until one of the others ends. Sorry. But WIP Wednesday will show you teases of it until then.
I recommend rereading the previous chapter to refresh your memory and away we go!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16 Part 17
~
Steve was riding on the best high. Their next song was “Kiss the Boys/Kiss the Girls”. The song was about finding love in whatever form that took. With a full verse on non-binary folks, despite the title. There was nothing in the world that could compare to crowds screaming your name. It didn’t even matter that the name they were screaming wasn’t Steve, it was Abbadon.
He stumbled into the green room that had all their stuff in it. Corroded Coffin had taken the stage and him and his boys were relaxing with their masks off, Hopper at the door.
“I’ve never been so nervous in my life!” Shane said after downing an entire water bottle. “That crowd was massive! And diverse! Usually we just get college aged kids but there were literal kids out there and old time rockers too.”
“Shit, yeah,” Spence said, pushing his hood off his head to splash a little water on his head. He didn’t have a spotlight on him but wearing all black still made for a hot set.
Shane laid down on the floor, sprawled out spread eagle. “Is this is what real fame is like?”
Steve slid off the chair he was sitting in, to sit next to him. “God, I have such mixed feelings about that if it is. Because the energy was off the charts and I’m pretty sure I sung my heart out...”
“But you aren’t sure you keep up with it for the whole tour?” Simon asked quietly.
Steve threw his head back to rest on the seat of the chair. “Yeah. I don’t want to burn out before I turn thirty, you know?”
“You should talk to Eddie about what they do not to burn out,” Spence suggested. “Because they’ve been doing this for ten years and longer tours than this.”
Steve hummed his agreement.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. “Celeste, incoming,” Hopper muttered, before opening the door.
Anyone in view of the door, put their mask over their face and then off again when the door closed behind their manager.
“Good job, guys,” Robin said cheerily and sat down on the floor between Shane and Steve. “I just got off the phone with Vickie and she says social media is going batshit insane about the song and Steve’s intro. And it’s good. Like really good. There are some assholes, but it seems that even the media and music critics are calling it the next gay anthem.”
“What are they saying?” Simon asked, sitting up on the sofa and scooting to the edge.
Robin grinned. “This is my favorite one: Heaven is where the assholes are, we always knew all the good people were in hell. Keep up the good work, Abbadon and all of the rest of The Fallen. From Metallica’s official Twitter.”
The room was deathly silent for all of two seconds before they all erupted into gleeful screams. They all jumped on her and started hugging her tightly.
“Get off me! Get off me!” she shrieked. “You’re all sweaty and gross!”
They deliberately smeared themselves all over her before they got off, giggling like children.
“Boys!” she huffed dramatically. “So gross. I swear you lot don’t grow up you just get older.”
Steve leaned over and gave a huge kiss on the cheek. “Probably, but you wouldn’t love us if we were any different.”
Robin swiped her cheek in an exaggerated fashion. “Maybe, but boys are still gross.” She went on to tell them all things that Vickie was sending her about the world’s reaction to the song.
Then after a while she bumped into Steve’s shoulder. “Go on. I know you want go watch some of the show, I’ll hold down the fort here.”
Steve smiled at her and gave her shoulder a squeeze. He got to his feet and put his mask back on. After checking to make sure no one was in view, he knocked on the door for Hopper to let him out.
Once the door closed, Robin let out a long sigh. “I worry about those two.”
“Who?” Shane said, sitting up for the first time. “Steve and Eddie? Why?”
She nodded, pulling her knees up to her chest and tucking her chin between her knees. “Being in the closet is hard. And I know Abbadon has come out, but he’s still in the ‘closet’ as it were about his identity and Eddie and Steve having to hide their relationship on top of Steve hiding who is... let’s just say that great relationships then theirs have crumbled under the pressure.”
The room was silent as they all took that in.
“Are we just doomed from having relationships?” Spence asked. “Are we all destined to be lonely?”
Simon’s lips quivered. “I hate that I have all these women throwing themselves at me but they really don’t care who’s under the mask.”
“I hit up every gay bar in every city we tour in as me,” Shane muttered picking at the skin around his nails, “and I don’t know if it’s worse they don’t know who I am than if I had gone as Astraeus.”
“I’m trying to have a girlfriend,” Spence said bitterly, “but all I can tell her is that I travel for work. And yeah it’s new enough she isn’t asking as what, but how much longer can I dodge that question?”
Robin let out another sigh. “I know, and it’s not as though I can really date either. Are they dating the goofy lesbian Robin, or the sophisticated fashion plate, Celeste? But with Eddie I think Steve has it harder.”
“It’s because Eddie is famous, huh?” Simon asked, sliding off the sofa to sit next to Shane on the floor.
Spence got up and curled up around Shane. Robin inserted herself into the pile and they just cuddled until the show was over.
~
Steve wanted to be on that stage more than anything, just singing with Eddie, happy and free. But he was Abbadon right now and while he might get away with it, Steve didn’t feel comfortable with the not being able to kiss his boyfriend senseless.
He waited until the it’s almost time for the encore before he slipped back into the green room. Everyone else is already changed and gone. It’s just Robin as Celeste waiting for him.
“How did he not have a boyfriend before now?” Steve muttered as he pulled on the khakis and blue polo shirt of his ‘uniform.’
Robin snorted. “For the same reason you went pretty thin on the dating field. He was hung up on a special someone.”
Steve blushed and ducked his head. “I’m assume you think it’s me.” He ran his fingers through his hair, trying to get it lay straight after being hidden under the hood for so long.
Robin got to her feet and leaned down to look him in the eye. “Are you telling me you don’t?”
Steve looked away. Robin gently lifted his chin and then held his face her hands. “Steven Kincade Harrington, you listen to me close. You are worthy of love. You are worthy of care. You are worthy of attention. And Eddie Munson is one hundred percent onboard to give all three. Of course he was waiting for you. Any person with eyes can see how much he loves you. Fuck, Simon bristles every time he’s brought up now because instead him being your protector like it used to be, it’s Eddie.”
Steve stared at her with his mouth wide open. “Simon’s jealous of Eddie?”
Robin laughed and kissed his stupid head.
“Babe,” she said fondly. “Spence and Shane have been beating him off with a stick every time Eddie comes around.”
“But Simon doesn’t protect me,” Steve said tilting his head to the side. “I protect him. He’s so painfully shy outside of the band and he’s always curled up on my lap.”
“Please tell me you aren’t that naive,” she said. “He is always sticking up for you about your writing, about your singing. When it comes to band stuff Simon is the biggest mama bear of them all.”
Steve blinked at her for a moment and then mouthed the word “Oh.”
“You are such a dingus,” she said shaking her head. “But you’re my dingus so that evens it out a bit.”
He pushed her playfully. “I’m going to get out there before people wonder where the missing EMT is.”
He slipped out a different way from when he came in and she watched him go. Steve was brilliant at a lot of things, people included. But he always had a blindspot when it came to when other people caring for him.
She sighed and then made her way out of the green room so that Corroded Coffin could unwind now.
Robin passed Chrissy on the way out.
“Hey,” Chrissy said with a huge smile. “My boys want to go afterwards with your boys, you think they’d be down?”
“Of course they would!” she replied. “As The Fallen or no?”
Chrissy slapped her palm to her forehead. “Shit I forgot. As The Fallen. But they have casual masks to go in right?”
Robin smiled back at her. “It’s fine, of course they have casual masks. I’ll let them know. It’ll have to be much later because they have to be see as normies for a bit before they slip back into The Fallen.”
Chrissy winked and tapped the side of her nose. “I got you.”
Just then all the Corroded Coffin boys came bursting from the stage into the wings, whooping and screaming. They huddled together, arms around each other and counted to twenty.
Once they got to one, Eddie screamed whooped again and all four of them ran back on stage.
Robin blinked at them for a moment. “Didn’t they just have an encore?”
Chrissy threw back her head and laughed. “Depending on the city they can do anywhere from two to five encores.”
“Holy shit!” Robin said in genuine awe. “That’s insane.”
“It’s not even their record,” she said.
Robin’s eyebrows shot up. “There’s no way.”
“Six in Salt Lake City,” she explained. “Just coming off their third album, the one with eight singles. Which was too many in my opinion but apparently a couple radio stations thought there were a really good deep tracks and played. Then it got around, yaddy yadda. You get the drift.”
“But six?” Robin asked a little unsure.
Chrissy nodded. “Salt Lake is crazy for that shit though. I’ve heard bands go there if they want their ego stoked.”
“Any bands avoid it for that reason?” Robin giggled.
“I have no doubt there are,” she said with a hum. “Most of the time bands whine about the lack of boobs and booze when they refuse to go back.”
Robin rolled her eyes. “Men are so gross.”
“Agreed,” she replied with a wink. “Go lesbian power.”
Robin fist bumped her. “I’ve got to go look like a PA schlep for awhile. I’ll text you when they’re free.”
“You’ve got it girlie!” Chrissy said.
~
Eddie was not pleased that they were at a bar. A bar was the last place he wanted Gareth to be right now.
But he insisted he would be fine and seemed for the most part to be sticking to a cherry coke, but Eddie was keeping an eye on him.
Things were actually going well until...
Astraeus let out a yelp of pain.
Abbadon and Azrael were on their feet in an instant, Asmodeus close behind. There was a little action going on so Eddie couldn’t see what happened, but oh boy did he see the aftermath.
Standing behind The Fallen’s bassist was an asshole with his phone up, filming and another guy yanking on Astraeus’ hood.
“Get off of him,” Abbadon hissed. “Or else.”
Abbadon was the shortest of his band, but fuck in that moment, he looked the most intimidating.
The dude with phone scoffed. “Or what? I’m filming you, you can’t do shit.”
Steve let out a huge ear-piercing whistle and yelled, “Security!”
The two dudes’ eyes went wide as they turned to scramble away from their table, but ran into two very meaty looking guys flanking Hopper.
“You two boys going somewhere?” the head of security asked, low and dangerously.
“We weren’t doing anything!” the one dude said. Not the one with the phone, but the one who had pulled on Astraeus’ hood.
“Yeah?” he asked. “And would these boys say the same?”
The asshole with the phone scoffed. “They’re just a bunch of weird, rich assholes, they’d say whatever.”
“And the security cameras won’t show you filming your friend here, yanking on this man’s hoodie?”
The two dudes looked at each in actual fear for the first time.
“And by the way, that’s assault,” Hopper continued to press. “So unless you want to be arrested, you’ll delete that little videos of yours unless you really, really want to broadcast your crime to the internet.”
The guy with the phone had Hopper watch him delete it off his phone.
“Good,” he said, “now these two gentlemen are going to escort out of the building, a building you’ll never be allowed to come back to ever again.”
After Hopper left with the bouncers and the two idiots, Gareth turned to them.
“Shit,” he said, that was fucking terrifying. Does that happen a lot?”
Abbadon and Azrael exchanged a glance.
“More than it really should,” Azrael said. “It’s why Ellie designed a hoodie that would be harder to yank off. The trade off unfortunately is that hurts like a bitch when it’s pulled.”
“That fucking sucks, man,” Jeff said. “The next round of drinks is on me.”
Eddie nodded, but inside he was screaming. He didn’t know that this was something the band experienced at all. And even if he didn’t know who they were, that would still freak him out. But it was worse knowing it was Steve that they were doing this to.
Abbadon squeezed his hand under the table. It didn’t reassure him, not really, but it was still nice that Steve recognized his turmoil.
The night was a little more subdued after that as the Corroded Coffin boys thought about the implications of what just happened and The Fallen boys because all they wanted was a fun night out and it was ruined.
More often than not, it doesn't work out.
Robin first learned that lesson with Vickie, when she thought she found the love of her life but ended up breaking things off because the way in which Vickie mirrored her anxiety back to her enhanced it tenfold and it turned out to be completely exhausting to keep up with that after the first wave of butterflies had died down.
After Vickie, there was Laura. Laura, with whom it seemed to work out until she told Robin that she couldn't bear keeping up with her weird, unsettling and way too vivid nightmares about Russian spies and monsters from fantasy stories every other night.
After Laura, there was Julia. Julia, who was amazing for four whole months until she told Robin with tears in her eyes that she couldn't tolerate the cheating anymore. It didn't matter how often Robin told her that sleeping with someone didn't necessarily mean sleeping with someone, that Steve was like a brother to her – and that the whole thing was utterly ridiculous in the first place because Robin was very much a lesbian. Needless to say, it didn't work out.
Then, there was Amy. Amy, who, like a cruel twist of fate, actually cheated on Robin. It was only a one-time thing, a drunken kiss during some stupid party, but it was enough to damage Robin's trust in her irreparably. So it didn't work out.
Up until then, she had chalked it up to a string of bad luck or maybe bad taste. But after Louise (who brought up the nightmares again), Valerie (who wanted some adventure in the bedroom and had to guide Robin through a panic attack filled with inexplicable flashbacks when she tried tying her to the bedframe), and Mathilde (who made a problem of Robin's regular 3am calls with Steve when neither of them could sleep), she starts to wonder if it wouldn't be more probable that it is herself who is the problem instead of this whole list of girls.
“Don't you dare say that about yourself,” says Nancy with fire in her voice when Robin finally dares to voice that thought out loud.
They're both lying down on Nancy's brand new couch, a pair of legs dangling over each side and their heads right next to each other in the middle. Except for that couch, the living room is still empty. Boxes are piled up everywhere, still waiting to be unpacked, but they can wait a little longer.
Robin is happy to have Nancy at her side again. It's been a while: college and differing career paths kept them separated through the majority of their friendship. But now Nancy has found her way back to Indiana, only half an hour away from where Robin has been living with Steve and Eddie ever since Mathilde broke up with her a few months ago.
She hasn't really been dating anyone since, and now that Nancy is also living in Indianapolis, she wonders if she'll ever feel the need to. No girl would ever be able to compare to Nancy Wheeler, after all; Robin knew that much as soon as she saw Nancy stepping out of the U-Haul wearing pastel-pink dungarees, with all grown-out curls cascading over her back and a thick layer of eyeliner around her beautiful doe eyes.
“Well, it could be true,” Robin presses on.
“No it can't!” Nancy says it in such an indignant tone that it makes Robin snort skeptically.
“I'm serious, Rob.” It sounds stern. “I know you and I know it's not true. It's not your fault.”
“You're seriously telling me I've been dating seven girls over the past seven years, and none of it worked out, and it's all because of them? All those relationships were wildly different; I'm the one consistent factor in all of them, Nance.”
“Yeah, but that doesn't mean you're the problem.” Nancy says it like it's obvious. “Maybe the problem is that you've been picking girls who all have one single thing in common, and that is that they never wanted to make the effort to really listen to you.”
"Huh." Robin closes her eyes for a second, taking her time to let those words sink in. She never thought about it that way. “You think so?”
“Yeah. Mathilde was a bitch anyway,” Nancy says matter-of-factly. “I mean, did she ever ask you to explain why you've been feeling the need to call Steve in the middle of the night lately?”
Robin shrugs. “That's a bit difficult to explain, isn't it?” she points out.
“That's what I'm saying,” says Nancy. “It's exactly why you keep picking out those kind of girls. Because if you're with someone who will actually listen to your story, you're gonna have a problem. Right?”
And, well, shit. It's not like Robin asked for a free therapy session here, but... Nancy is right. Of course she is. She always is.
Robin turns her head to the side, exchanging her view on the white ceiling for a much better one: Nancy's face, so close to her own that she can take in every little detail. The elegant slope of her nose, the wing of her eyeliner, the freckles on her cheeks, her perfect lips... Her face in this en-profile position is mesmerizing. It's not the first time that the thought comes to Robin's mind that Nancy looks like someone who should be in old paintings.
“Do you think you'll ever try to find someone who listens to you?” Nancy asks.
Robin tries to imagine that scenario; it's difficult. Not just because she doesn't really know how that would work in the first place, but mostly because she doesn't actually want to.
“Nah,” she says, trying to make it sound casual instead of really fucking sad.
“Why not?”
Because nobody can ever compare to you anyway, she thinks. But she bites her tongue and shrugs, turning her head back to the ceiling.
“That would be way too complicated, wouldn't it?”
Nancy shuffles and sighs; Robin feels her breath tickle against her cheek.
“I guess,” she mumbles.
“How did you do it?” Robin asks.
Nancy's dating history is not as tumultuous as Robin's. After things ended between her and Jonathan, she had been solo for a while. Then, there had been Ben, and then Kurt, and then it had again been just Nancy for a long time.
“Did what?”
“Did you ever find a way to tell Kurt about all the shit?”
“Nope.” It doesn't exactly sound like she tried very hard.
“Why not?”
“Because I did the same thing you did,” Nancy says. “Chose the wrong people to do that with. So I didn't have to think about it.”
That doesn't feel completely fair to Robin; Nancy had been with her boyfriends longer than Robin had been able to keep even one of her girlfriends around.
“I liked Kurt, he was nice,” she remarks in an attempt to point out the difference without being too blunt about it.
Nancy sighs. “Yeah, he was nice, but he wasn't... Right. I knew that from the beginning. Same with Ben. Even with Jonathan, in a way. Or Steve, even though I was too young to realize it.”
“What do you mean, not right?”
“Boys.”
“Wha-” Robin turns her head sideways so fast that she's lucky she doesn't pull a muscle.
She sees how Nancy's eyes drop from the ceiling and slowly find their way to Robin's face.
“Took me a while to figure that one out,” she says quietly. “But yeah.”
Robin wishes they were lying in a different position; one that would have made it possible for her to take Nancy's hand and squeeze it gently, or to wrap an arm around her, or to pull her in for a hug.
“Thank you for telling me.”
A soft smile is tugging at Nancy's lips. She looks at Robin like she wants to say something, then looks back up to the ceiling again, and Robin copies her movement, biting her own tongue again in order to give Nancy the time and space she clearly needs right now.
Usually, Robin struggles with silences; she'll feel words pile up inside of her until her need to fill the empty space will take over and she'll inevitably start rambling. But this one actually feels comfortable. She wishes that they could keep lying side-by-side on this couch for the rest of the day.
Unfortunately, they can't, though. There's still way too much work to be done. So Nancy hauls her to her feet and soon, the couch gets company of a coffee table, a couple of cozy armchairs, a bookcase, a TV... There are boxes filled with books, kitchen appliances, picture frames, video tapes, clothes; there are closets that need to get assembled and a heavy bedframe that they can barely get to where they need it.
It feels like it will never end, but after two long days of hauling furniture around, the apartment starts to look like a home. A home for which Robin gets a spare key. It rests cold and shiny against the palm of her hand, where Nancy has dropped it, and it makes her realize how real it is that Nancy is finally living close to her again.
Nancy's couch becomes just as much of a home for Robin as her own living room. It's where the two of them share stories, tell secrets, laugh loudly, cry ugly... It's where they watch movies until deep in the night, snuggled up to each other under a soft blanket. It's where they read books side-by-side on lazy Sunday afternoons. It's where they listen to music together and where they listen to what the other has to tell about their day or about anything that's on their minds. It's where Robin finally gets the courage to tell Nancy that nobody has ever listened to her the way Nancy does. It's where Nancy scoots closer towards her to press a kiss against her cheek, right before she finds Robin's lips and they share their first kiss, warm and homely and perfect.
More often than not, it doesn't work out. But once in a lifetime, it does. And once is exactly enough.
WHAT IF!!! reader x jack play love interests in Freaky Tales, and like everyone on set KNEW they were obviously into each other right? right. so, sundance film festival comes along a year-and-a-lot-of-pinning-later, and when the kiss scene between their characters comes up they’re both just blushing and smiling and they’re so cute during the interviews the internet goes CRAZY anyway pedro ends up talking some confidence into jack and he asks the reader out 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
from friends to this — jack champion
word count: 1,6k
pairing: jack champion x actress!fem!reader
summary: after months of not seeing each other, jack and y/n reunite at the sundance festival. with feelings still in the air, jack is persuaded to finally ask her out.
warnings: fluff.
Tumblr media
Freaky Tales had been a completely different experience for Jack. Until that movie, he had done roles where his character didn’t have a love interest, much less a kissing scene. It was a thing that had made him nervous since the beginning, because he knew that his co-star, Y/N, had been involved in several romantic comedies so she had experience.
However, his fears were soon erased once he got to know her. Y/N made him feel comfortable and one thing he loved about her was the way she complimented him every time they finished filming a scene together. Jack was immensely glad to call her his co-star and was happy with the chemistry they showed on camera.
The two teenagers relationship soon started resembling their character’s one. Lucid and Vicky were two friends who were obviously into each other, but were too scared of rejection so they kept their feelings to themselves. For that reason, it wasn’t hard for the actors to get into their characters and nail the sentimental parts. And even though both of them were excellent at their job, the whole cast knew there was something deeper there, that there was more than just acting. The two friends could fool each other, but everyone in that set was aware of the way they basically radiated happiness when they were together. Hence why they were all sad when the last day of filming arrived and there hadn’t been any changes on the relationship.
And now, one year later, the cast was finally going to reunite for the premiere of the movie at the Sundance Festival. Y/N and Jack had been looking forward to the event because it had been months since the last time they saw each other.
“Oh my god.” Jack heard a familiar voice speak. He turned his head to the side, spotting his friend who was smiling like the Cheshire cat. Forgetting about the flashing lights and the interviewers, he made his way to her and instantly wrapped her in a hug. “The mullet is back.” she said against his chest.
Jack laughed and stepped back. “Hello to you too.”
“Sorry, hi.” she chuckled. “The mullet is back!”
“Yeah, I heard you the first time.” he rolled his eyes. “I kinda had to bring it back, you were harassing me.” he said in a playful tone.
“I did not harass you, idiot.” she softly pushed his shoulder.
“You have been sending me daily texts for a month, telling me to bring it back.” he pointed out.
“I was doing God’s work.” she shrugged. “You look really good, Jack.”
He felt the warmth spreading on his cheeks. “Thanks, Y/N/N. I missed you.”
“Missed you, too. And Jesus, have you gotten taller?”
He smirked “Maybe you’ve shrunk.”
“Fuck off.” she rolled her eyes.
“Let’s go, smurf.” he grabbed her hand, guiding her towards the carpet to take pictures. “You look gorgeous, by the way.”
They smiled at each other, the butterflies in their stomachs let them know that despite not having been able to see each other often, their feelings were still intact.
Tumblr media
Y/N and Jack sat next to each other for the movie screening. It was the third and last day of the festival, and the two friends were sad they were going to be apart again. They hadn’t acknowledged it because they didn’t want to ruin the mood, but their hearts sure felt heavy.
The kissing scene was approaching and they began squirming on their seats, remembering that day at the set and most importantly, how good kissing the other had felt. They both replayed those moments more often that they’d like to admit, and they’d be lying if they said they didn’t want to experience it again.
When the kiss was shown on the big screen, Jack and Y/N couldn’t help looking at each other. They exchanged love-sick smiles and began blushing when they felt the cast’s eyes on them. Trying their best to ignore it, they set their focus on the movie until the credits rolled in.
Now was the part Y/N dreaded the most. not matter how many times she had gone through them, interviews still made her anxious.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay. This time, we’re doing them together.” Jack rubbed her arms. His words calmed down her nerves, and after giving him a quick nod, they walked towards the interviewers.
They started with simple questions, regarding their characters and the movie plot and then the male interviewer finally asked the expected question, “How did you feel during the kissing scene?”
Jack spoke first, “When i first got the script, I was super nervous about the relationship between Lucid and Vicky. It is my first character with a romantic interest, and that made me worry I was going to act awkward, especially because Y/N was used to it. But I soon realised I was being silly, she never once made me feel insecure about it. She helped me a lot, never judged, and always asked if I felt alright. And when the day of the kissing scene came, she basically tired herself out by reassuring me it was going to turn out perfect. So I felt very comfortable during the kissing scene. I’m very glad it was with her, she’s not just an amazing actress, she’s also the best co-star in the world and the sweetest girl I’ve ever met.”
She looked up at him in awe, wondering if he realized he was the most perfect man to ever exist. Okay, maybe she was a little biased considering she was head over heels, but Jack truly was incredible.
“Wow, how could I ever top those words?” she laughed, “I really don’t know what to say. I never doubted he was going to nail his performance, and I’m really glad he felt comfortable with me, because I sure did feel comfortable with him. Since the very first day. I mean, just one look and you can tell he’s got a heart of gold. There was nothing awkward about the kiss because we trust each other so much and we knew that there would be no judgment or weirdness after the director yelled ‘Cut’. We have an amazing friendship.”
“Well, shit- oh sorry, shoot.” he apologised. “You didn’t have a problem with topping my speech, that’s for sure.” he smiled at her, wrapping one arm around her shoulders. “But yes, she’s right. We formed an amazing friendship, and she’s stuck with me forever now.”
God, I hope so, Y/N pleaded internally.
“Kid, come here.” Pedro told Jack once he saw Y/N was nowhere in sight. “I think it’s time. I beg you, ask that girl out.”
“W-what?” Jack squealed. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Come on.” the older actor sighed. “Everyone knows it. To be honest, we expected you to end up together before the filming ended but it’s already been a year and you’re still stuck on the friendzone with her.”
“I don’t know… what if she says no? I might die, and I’m not even kidding.”
“She’s not going to say no, kid. She’s down as bad as you. Ask her out, you’re not going to regret it. Trust me, okay?”
Jack thought about that conversation for the rest of the evening, and he decided to risk it. If Pedro was right and everyone else thought the feelings were mutual, there must really be something between him and Y/N, right? There was only one way to find out.
“I can’t believe it ended.” Y/N pouted.
“Me neither. I had the time of my life.” he smiled. then, after taking a deep breath, he tugged her arm. “Y/N, I need to tell you something.”
“Yeah?”
“I… If I’m wrong, things might turn uncomfortable, but I honestly have a really good feeling about this. And before I ask you, I need you to know that there’s no pressure and that no matter what you say, I’m still going to be here. You’ll always have me, okay?”
“Okay… you can trust me. You’ll always have me too.”
Jack nodded and looking her straight in the eyes, he said, “I really like you, Y/N/N. I’ve liked you for a whole year, and it’s insane the amount of times I wanted to tell you, but fear got the best of me. I just, I don’t want to keep on hiding my feelings. I like you so much it’s consuming me. and I need to ask you, would you like to go on a date with me?”
Y/N had daydreamed about this day for a year, so it felt a bit surreal. but Jack was actually there, in front of her, telling her he liked her and wanted to be more than friends. “It was that day you brought me breakfast at the set.”
“What?” Jack frowned.
“Remember that day I forgot to have breakfast?” Jack nodded. “You told me to wait, and then appeared fifteen minutes later, with my favorite coffee, that vanilla muffin I love and the most beautiful smile ever. That was the day I realized I liked you.”
“For real?” he asked, unable to hide his happiness.
Y/N nodded and quickly raised onto her tip-toes to hug his neck. “I like you so much it’s consuming me.” she repeated his words. “And there’s nothing I’d love more than to go on a date with you.”
He let out a breath of relief and hugged her tightly. “By the way, you’re so good at speeches. This is the second time tonight I’m trying very hard to stop the tears.”
Y/N laughed “Oh, prepare yourself for cheesy posts on instagram with even cheesier captions.”
“You make the posts, I make the playlists. Deal?”
“Deal.”
