A New York federal judge denied bail to Sean “Diddy” Combs at an arraignment hearing on Tuesday (Sept. 17), leaving the once-powerful rapper and music executive behind bars as he awaits trial on sweeping allegations of sexual abuse.

The charges, unsealed earlier on Tuesday, accuse Combs of running a decades-long racketeering conspiracy that included sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson and bribery. If convicted on all the charges, he potentially faces a sentence of life in prison.

At an initial hearing Tuesday in front of a packed Manhattan courtroom, Combs formally pleaded not guilty to each of the three charges he’s facing. His attorneys also requested that he be released on a $50 million bond, saying he’d surrender his passport and submit to constant monitoring.

But according to the Associated Press, Magistrate Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky ultimately sided with prosecutors, who had warned that the billionaire executive still posed a flight risk and might intimidate witnesses if released. She ruled that Combs attorneys had not overcome the “presumption” that defendants in such serious cases should remain behind bars.

Combs, also known as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, was once one of the most powerful men in the music industry. But he’s faced a flood of civil lawsuits in recent months over allegations of sexual abuse, starting with a high-profile case last year from his former longtime girlfriend Cassie Ventura. That lawsuit quickly settled, but it was later corroborated by a widely shared video of Combs assaulting Ventura at a hotel.

In Tuesday’s indictment, prosecutors accused Combs of running a sprawling criminal operation aimed at satisfying his need for “sexual gratification.” The charges detailed “freak offs” in which Combs and others would allegedly ply victims with drugs and then coerce them into having sex with male sex workers, as well as alleged acts of violence and intimidation to keep victims silent.

“For decades, Sean Combs … abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct,” prosecutors wrote in the indictment. “To do so, Combs relied on the employees, resources and the influence of his multi-faceted business empire that he led and controlled.”

Ahead of Tuesday’s hearing, both sides submitted detailed arguments to the judge on whether Combs should be detained until his jury trial, which could still be months away.

Combs’ defense lawyers said he was “eminently trustworthy” and had demonstrated “extraordinary” cooperation by flying to New York to allow himself to be arrested on Monday. They offered to post a $50 million bond, submit to house arrest with GPS monitoring, and even to sell his private jet.

“Sean Combs has never evaded, avoided, eluded or run from a challenge in his life,” his lawyers wrote. “He will not start now. As he has handled every hardship, he will meet this case head-on, he will work hard to defend himself, and he will prevail.”

But prosecutors argued back that Combs was a “serial abuser” who had a history of both violence and witness intimidation, raising the prospect that he might attempt to obstruct the case against him. They also said that he still posed a flight risk even under his proposed conditions, citing his “seemingly limitless resources” and the looming threat of a lifetime prison sentence.

“In short, if the defendant wanted to flee, he has the money, manpower, and tools to do so quickly and without detection,” prosecutors wrote. “The defendant’s lack of access to his passport or private jet would not negate the fact that the defendant could easily buy his way out of facing justice.”

Following Tuesday’s hearing before a magistrate judge, Combs is set for an initial pretrial conference next week before Judge Andrew L. Carter, Jr., the federal district judge who will oversee the trial.

Note(s): The reader can see/hear Khonshu- and I set this up for a part two. This is just a collection of musings I had while thinking about the Moon Knight universe. As of right now, all the knowledge I have of the characters/dynamics comes from the show and a few videos on YouTube.

Was it even possible for a god to get lonely?

You discovered yourself asking this question in your subconscious more and more frequently these days. The deeper you researched, the more texts you uncovered, the more you pestered Steven and Marc and Jake- the further the question burrowed itself into your mind’s eye.

After arriving back from Egypt, your friends wasted no time before telling you all about how amazing everything was. Well- Steven normally gushed about the architecture and overall history of everything, while Marc and Jake were simply happy that Steven was happy. You couldn't blame them, it was obvious they all collected some sort of trauma from their time there, one way or another.

You hadn't even tossed a thought in Khonshu's general direction for weeks, far too occupied with ensuring your friends enjoyed their downtime after such a hectic adventure. Layla and you eventually agreed to rotations while visiting the boys' flat, allowing everyone to spend time together separately. Your arraignments also gave Layla enough space to figure out her new position as an avatar, and some time for Marc, Steven, and Jake to get to know each other. It wasn't until your third week of hanging out with them that you noticed how quiet Khonshu was being.

You'd figured, at the very least, Khonshu would've interjected information throughout Steven's historical monologues. When nothing of the sort occurred, you internally reasoned with yourself that maybe Steven and Khonshu worked something out. So, you turned to Marc and Jake, tossing in questions here and there about what they thought about Egypt and its history. When you noticed Khonshu leave the area, your curiosity rose further. That again, however, much like before, could be simply explained by something you weren't privy to. Maybe he was called away for some deity responsibilities? Or he was interested in doing something else? Maybe he was simply bored?

But then it happened again. Then again, and again. And again.

At this point, Khonshu was leaving even when you simply turned something on the TV about Egypt. A history channel documentary for Steven? Gone. Music for Layla, or simply some background noise? Gone. A video to teach yourself about hieroglyphs? Gone. Discussing Ammit, or her old cult, with Marc or Jake? Gone. Asking Layla about Taweret and their relationship? Gone. Researching about the various Egyptian deities you now knew existed? He was gone significantly faster.

It took the last instance for the puzzle pieces to finally slot together in your mind. The click moment wasn't nearly as satisfying as you'd hoped.

Khonshu was a god. He still is a god. He was openly worshiped- culturally and personally- for nearly 3,000 years at the very least. He received countless prayers, offerings, songs, writings and more from his followers throughout time. Feasts and festivals, holidays and rituals, all in his name. He had hundreds and thousands of people talking to him, about him, with him. There were hieroglyphs and statues etched into stone, religious texts and prayers that survived the aging of time, massive temples created in his name. He used to be able to interact with the other deities as well, others who could connect to and understand his experiences. Now what did he get? Only five people in Europe who knew of his existence?

A desperately far cry from the droves of interactions he used to have.

You could bet that actually going to Egypt, witnessing the statues and pyramids and hieroglyphs, he was curtly reminded of what he no longer had. And fighting with the other gods- especially getting locked away by the Ennead- certainly didn't ease his pain. He was almost forgotten at this point. That would hurt anyone, but unlike you, Khonshu couldn't find a therapist or rant to a friend. Harrow confirmed your suspicions in the beginning- Khonshu went through his days unseen and unheard by almost everyone.

The key word being almost. You weren't completely certain on how to help, but you were determined to try. There was no way you were breaching that conversation with anyone, so you decided to just start small. You branched off from Steven's grocery shopping list one night to grab some nuts and dried fruit- along with some scented candles.

Your head swirled with clashing emotions as you made your way inside of the flat. You ran the risk of angering a deity, or someone finding out and accusing you of trying to gain some kind of favor. That conversation could lead to-

You gently shook your head in an attempt to derail that train of thought. They were all your friends, if anything it would simply be awkward for a few days until everything blew over. Layla swung open the front door moments later, card game in hand, and your worries were forgotten for the night.

The next day, you started out with simply lighting the candles to gauge Khonshu's reactions. You weren't certain what exactly his "tell" would be, but you knew you'd know when he liked something. But, after weeks of swapping through various scents- even going back to the store to get some more- you swore you had to have missed it.

You progressed further, adding some dried fruit or nuts in a small bowl by the candle. Still, nothing. Khonshu still seemed to be silently sulking, but you pressed on. You tried saying the phrase, "This is for you, Khonshu.", either in your head or as a whisper. You tried food without the candle. You read about him and the other deities and further studied the hieroglyphs. You baked bread, went star gazing, thanked him whenever the boys made it home safely, and eventually started praying to him. Hell, you even asked him to play a card game with you at one point. Nothing seemed to help as drastically as you assumed.

But you did notice that Khonshu was beginning to seem somehow nicer, gentler even, if you dared to say it. He slowly began to become more involved in game nights, joking alongside Taweret. He'd point out constellations on clear nights, and you swore you caught him sneaking bread with Marc. The boys even noticed the change in his demeanor, Steven mentioning his lack of "worm" comments recently.

In turn, you discovered yourself actually enjoying the activities you tried out. Your friends actually began participating too. Steven and Layla would spend hours teaching you about Egypt, Marc would sneak into the kitchen to eat your baked goods, and Jake would lie awake with you to watch the stars. Although you didn't tell anyone why you started these hobbies in the first place, they somehow stuck in your everyday life.

You didn't realize how much it truly mattered, until you noticed someone following you home one night.

A 24-year-old social worker in Ohio who is charged with having sex with a 13-year-old boy she was assigned to counsel, now faces additional charges for allegedly trying to intimidate the boy’s family.

Columbus, Ohio ABC station WSYX reported that Payton Shires appeared before a judge last week and became emotional as the charges were read to her.

Court records show a warrant was issued for Shires’ arrest on Oct. 26. And she was arraigned in court on Oct. 28 on charges of intimidating a witness by force or threat.

During the hearing, prosecutors said Shires showed up at the 13-year-old boy’s home, with a gun.

While there, she threatened to kill herself, the station reported, and blamed the family for "ruining her life."

On Oct. 6, Payton was arrested without incident and admitted to a sexual relationship during a three-way call between Shires, the boy’s mother and police, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

Shires was previously employed by the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP), which provides counseling, social work and advocacy for families involved in the foster care system, the report said. It is unclear when she stopped working for the organization.

The boy’s mom called police on Sept. 27 after finding suspicious text messages on the 13-year-old’s cellphone from Shires.

When police searched the phone, they found a video of the teen and Shires engaged in sexual conduct, according to court records. The teen reportedly told detectives he had sex with Shires multiple times in September at different locations in Columbus.

She was charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and held on $500,000 bond.

Because of the new charges, Shires’s bond has been revoked, and she is expected to remain behind bars until her next court appearance scheduled for Nov. 6.

Drag Queen and School Principal Do Not belong in the same sentence

Parents are threatening to pull their children out of a school in Oklahoma after learning the principal was previously charged with the possession of child sexual abuse materials. Despite backlash, Western Heights Public School District in Oklahoma is defending its hiring of Shane Murnan, stating that “usual hiring practices” were followed.

Murnan was approved to take on the role as the Head Principal at John Glenn Elementary in June, even though the Board of Trustees was aware of his past. In a Facebook post published after his hiring, the Western Heights Public Schools Facebook page noted the “office charges” amongst the paragraphs of praise, but insisted they were dismissed.

“This afternoon, the Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Shane Murnan for the position of Principal at John Glenn Elementary School. The district recently learned about previous office charges that were dismissed more than 20 years ago,” it stated. “Dr. Murnan has been serving the field of education for over 25 years and has an excellent reputation.. It is highly recommended by previous supervisors, colleagues and educators.”

While working as a fifth-grade teacher at Will Rogers Elementary School in 2001, Murnan, then aged 30, was arrested for possessing child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) and six grams of marijuana.

Two weeks prior to his arrest, police seized a number of devices, compact discs, and floppy discs from his home, along with a video tape titled “Something Very Big.” Digital forensics conducted by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation uncovered images of male children engaged in sex acts.

Following news of the charges against him, administrators at the elementary school suspended Murnan with pay. He was later freed on a $20,000 bail pending an arraignment for the felony charge of possessing the child abuse materials.

The charges against Murnan were initially dropped by a Special District Court judge after he ruled the individuals depicted in the imagery could not be proven with certainty to be below the age of 18. But after several hearings, an Appeals Court judge determined that “it is clear from a review of the pictures that they do represent child pornography.” 

Despite this confirmation, the charges against Murnan would ultimately be dismissed.

Following the scandal, Murnan resigned from his position at Will Rogers Elementary in May 2002 and only faced a misdemeanor drug charge.

Around the same time, Murnan began performing as a drag queen under the moniker “Shantel Mandalay,” as reported by V1SUT.

After beginning his drag career, Murnan continued his role in educator positions. From 2007 to 2015, he was employed as a teacher at Little Axe Elementary School. Murnan subsequently moved through the Prairie Queen Elementary School system; starting as teacher, teacher trainer, and eventually landing the role of Assistant Principal. This new position was in a much larger district, with over 30,000 students enrolled. 

Oklahoma City Public School data reveals that Murnan’s positions have been held in schools where students were particularly vulnerable due to language barriers and economic disadvantages.

While working in his role as an educator, Murnan used his “Shantel Mandalay” Facebook page to both engage in school-related subjects, and post inappropriate personal content, including photos of him and his current lovers or boyfriends in sexual moments.

In 2018, Murnan co-founded Oklahoma City Drag Queen Story Hour. Many of the events Murnan was involved in organizing took place within the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Library System during COVID-19 lockdowns and featured Murnan reading to young children.

On Facebook, one user, who identifies as female-to-male transgender, wrote that she met Murnan when she was 16 years old when he was doing a youth outreach program “at the Wreckroom on Thursdays.” She said Murnan had her and others make “drag outfits” and “became a friend, a role model, and a mentor.” She said “that was also the day I knew I wanted to do drag.” She calls Murnan her “drag momma,” and her profile indicated that she is now taking testosterone.

Photos on Murnan’s drag page show him in close proximity to small children both in his work as an educator/school personnel and as a “drag queen.”

In addition to his drag persona, Murnan applied to receive credentials as a Christian Minister in 2014.

Reduxx has also learned that in 2020, Murnan was arrested after driving while severely intoxicated.

A criminal probable cause filing with Murnan listed as the defendant was issued by the State of Oklahoma in September 2020 while he was employed as Assistant Principal with Prairie Queen Elementary School. 

While the filing has been highlighted by other outlets, the reason for the arrest was previously unknown until Reduxx obtained the affidavit filled out by two highway patrol officers. 

Trooper Carls Broden pulled Murnan over just after two in the morning for what he suspected to be drunk driving. 

The affidavit reveals that Murnan “had trouble rolling down the passenger side window” when the officer approached the passenger side of the vehicle to question him. 

The officer noted that Murnan had bloodshot eyes and that there was a strong odor of consumed alcohol emanating from inside his vehicle. When asked for his license, Murnan handed the officer his debit card. He was “having a hard time retrieving his license,” and the officer asked him how much he had to drink. Murnan responded with slurred speech. The officer directed Murnan to exit the vehicle and enter the patrol’s unit, and “was very unsteady on his feet and failed to maintain balance” while exiting his car and walking to the officer’s car. When asked for his license again, Murnan told the officer he had already given it to him, though the officer had told him to hang onto it before directing him to exit his car. 

Murnan responded: “Probably too much,” when the officer asked him how much he had to drink that night. 

He alleges having begun drinking at seven earlier that night and having his last drink at eleven, three hours before driving. He said he had four margaritas and three vodka-tonics and told the other officer present, Trooper Lisa Jorgensen, that he was an elementary school principal at Prairie Queen.

“All throughout the contact, Murnan was repetitive asking the same questions multiple times, even after they had been answered.” 

Murnan was placed under arrest just before 2:30am. 

Murnan’s disturbing history resurfaced this week after popular social media account LibsofTiktok shared information on X (formerly Twitter). In the post, LibsofTiktok tagged an account belonging to the school’s current superintendent, Brayden Savage, who then deactivated her account without responding. 

Since news of Murnan’s past have gone viral, parents and members of the Western Heights School District community have begun raising concerns, with some threatening to pull their children out of the district.

Superintendent Savage has since addressed the controversy in a letter circulated to parents and obtained by the Daily Caller, stating that: “We understand the situation may cause concerns and questions among parents, staff, and community members.” Savage noted that the “usual hiring practices” had been followed, and that a felony criminal background check had been conducted on Murnan.

Speaking to local Fox 25, one mother stated she would remove her two kids from the school if Murnan remained the principal.

The revelations about Murnan come as a wave of legislation has hit multiple US states regarding preventing drag performances from having close proximity to children. In most cases, the moves were made after unsettling incidents involving drag queens and minors.

Earlier this year, Reduxx learned that a drag queen and convicted pedophile had been charged after teaching dance to children in violation of his conditions as a registered sex offender.

Dwight Evan Chisolm, 31, a lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin sex offender registry, performed under the drag name “Sno Wight.” In September of 2019, Chisolm was charged with child enticement and sexual intercourse with a child after abusing a 17-year-old boy he groomed online through both the popular gay hookup app Grindr and Snapchat.

Tyre Nichols' Mom Slams Cops for Not Looking at Her in the Face as They Pleaded Not Guilty

All five of the former Memphis officers charged with murdering Tyre Nichols—a 29-year-old Black man whose beating last month was captured on cameras and sent the nation into fury—pleaded not guilty to the charges against them in their first court hearing on Friday morning.

Following the officers’ arraignment, RowVaughn Wells, Nichols’ mother, said she still feels “numb” about her son’s death and that she’s living a “nightmare.”

She called out the officers for apparently refusing to look her in the face during the court proceeding—the first time she’s faced her son’s accused killers in person.

“I need each and every one of those officers to look me in the face,” Wells said at the press conference. “They haven’t done that, they haven’t had the courage to look me in the face after what they did to my son. They’re going to see me at every court date until we get justice for my son.”

After the suspects made their not-guilty pleas, Judge James Jones asked all parties involved in the case to be patient.

“We understand that there may be some high emotions in this case, but we ask that you continue to be patient with us,” Jones said. “Everyone involved wants this case to be concluded as quickly as possible. But it’s important for you all to understand that the state of Tennessee as well as each one of these defendants have an absolute right to a fair trial.”

Jones said he “will not allow any behavior” that might “jeopardize” the legitimacy of the trial for the five officers.

The second-degree murder charge the group faces carries a sentence of 15 to 60 years in prison.

Nichols died on Jan. 10, three days after he was pulled over for allegedly driving recklessly—an encounter that Nichols fled from after it quickly turned violent, footage released by the police department shows.

After fleeing on foot, a group of officers from the city’s since-disbanded SCORPION unit tracked Nichols down and began mercilessly beating him, video shows. Authorities say it was this assault that killed Nichols.

Footage from both security cameras and officers’ body cameras show that Nichols never attempted to fight back as he was beaten.

The officers involved have been free on bond since their arrest last month.

Bean, Martin III, Haley, Smith, and Mills Jr. were promptly fired and charged after the beating. A sixth officer, Preston Hemphill, was later fired but not criminally charged for his handling of Nichols’ initial traffic stop. Bodycam footage captured him using a taser on Nichols and later declaring, “I hope they stomp his ass.”

An attorney for the Nichols family, Ben Crump, said Friday that all rumors surrounding a personal feud between Nichols and one of the officers aren’t true.

“All these rumors that are circulating are bogus and untrue,” Crump said.

Nichols’ father, Rodney Wells, said Friday is a “glorious day” because it’s the first step in obtaining justice for his son. Crump said he hopes the trial will be completed within the year, just as George Floyd’s killer was promptly convicted in 2020.

“We have video,” Crump said. “When people in our community do something on video it doesn't take a lot of time to prosecute them.”

Mr Uba, otherwise known as Nonso Nkwa, was whisked away on 27 July by the police, after he finished anchoring his morning programme on Ozisa FM, a radio station in Owerri, the state capital. The operatives came from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Force Headquarters Abuja where they detained the journalist. The Commissioner for Information in Imo State, Declan Emelumba, on 28 July, announced that the journalist was arrested for allegedly defaming the state governor, Hope Uzodinma. Mr Emelumba claimed that the journalist alleged that Mr Uzodinma and former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, were behind killings and insecurity in the state. The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Chapter, would later fault his arrest and demand his immediate release. The group said the state government, rather than arrest, ought to have sued the journalist if they were convinced that he defamed the governor. Charges against the journalistThe police, after three weeks, arraigned the journalist at a Federal High Court in Abuja on two-count charge, on Wednesday, PREMIUM TIMES reliably gathered. Mr Uba was charged for allegedly making a false and defamatory video post on social media in June accusing Messrs Uzodinma and Dokubo of killing 100 youth and also burning houses in Imo with the intention to instigate residents of the state and Igbos against the governor. The police told the court that the offence was contrary and punishable under Section 24 (1) (B) of the Cyber Crime Prohibition Act. The journalist was also charged for allegedly making the social media post with the intention to bully, threaten or harass Mr Uzodinma over the accusation that the governor and Mr Dokubo carried out the killings. The police also said the offence contravened Section 24 (2) (A) and punishable under Section 24 (2) (C) of the same Act. The journalist pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court declined the journalist’s bail application and adjourned the hearing until September, next month. Meanwhile, the journalist had earlier, on 8 August, filed an ex parte application at the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja against the Inspector-General of Police (Respondent) demanding his release from detention. In the ex parte motion marked M/7128/2023, Mr Uba asked the court to declare that the various acts of torture, harassment, assault, intimidation and inhuman treatment meted on him by the police (Respondent) through the instigation of Governor Uzodinma was unconstitutional and constitute a violation of his rights in line with Section 34 (1) of the Constitution. The journalist also asked the court to declare that his arrest and detention at the facility of police at Area Command Maitama since 27 July at the instance of the governor, the complainant, was illegal and a violation of his fundamental human rights. He sought for an order of the court granting him bail and to be released forthwith from the police detention as well as an order directing the police to produce him before the court in the event of their failure to release him within 24 hours. He further asked the court to grant an order of perpetual injunction restraining the police or their representatives from further harassing, intimidating, arresting and detaining him on the same subject matter. After listening to P.A.N. Ejiafor and C.C. Okafor, counsels to Mr Ubah, the judge, E. Okpe, granted all the prayers of the journalist, according to a court document obtained by PREMIUM TIMES. The court document, titled ‘Court Order,’ was dated 18 August 2023. Despite the court order, checks by PREMIUM TIMES showed that Mr Uba had yet to be released as of Saturday evening – more than 24 hours after the order. Since we've been back things have been ok until the night before last.

My husband was pretty helpful as I've been super jet laged and missing lots of sleep because my daughter is waking up alot at night. I was so exhausted the first two days and couldn't cook so my husband brought food and then actually cooked, something he's not done since I was recovering from birth. He's been spending more time with my daughter in the mornings because I'm so tired.

There has been lots of drama since bow everyone knows about me and my daughter now. The sister that lives in the capital, they did a video chat to see our house and she frequently sends me stuff and wants to video chat my daughter. A woman who is connected to one of my husband's sister in laws and was aggressively trying to get my husband to marry her daughter for the last year. She found out about us obviously and found a way to contact my husband to tell him to call her, he blocked her again. Today, some family members found our wedding website which has pictures of me in what wouldn't be considered proper hijab and us dancing together. Husband got mad at me and asked why I didn't delete the website already, so I took it down.

One of my husband's sisters who just got married last year and who has been having marriage problems is deciding to leave and return home temporarily because he hasn't talked to her for a couple months now. The culture is very conservative and everyone in my husband's family (except my husband) had arraigned marriages, pretty much everyone's marriage in the family is bad but it's against the culture to divorce. Lots of drama of course.

The day before yesterday after hearing this news of his sister moving back my husband told me he should just stop talking to me until I do my duties, because that's definitely a good way of solving problems... he's also complaining that we should have stayed another two weeks at his home as he gets big fancy meals cooked by his sisters and basically doesn't have to do anything or help in any way whatsoever. He can spend time with his mom and go out in the evenings for hours and hours. While here, I work (again, something he insisted I do) and can't spend my entire day making four course dishes for every meal and he also has to help (does the bare minimum) with my daughter. (He used to go out every day for hours and hours with his best friend... because he doesn't have many other friends he hasn't pissed off... but his best friend has not been avaliable every night anymore (most likely because his fiancé isn't thrilled with such an arraignment every night and he listens to her.)

Lastly, my husband's best friend is getting married a less than a month. His fiancé is different nationality but from the same ethnicity as my ex-husband. So there is a remote chance my ex-husband's family could be at the wedding. He wouldn't be there as he's not mentally well enough to go to these types of events without incident and he's an embarrassment so his parents pretend he doesn't exist (they only say they have a son and a daughter instead of 2 sons). His parents could be there, if their families are somehow related (my ex-husband's family is well over 40 people living in the immediate city). I don't mind running into his parents, it's just awkward but him would be an issue. More things to stress me out.

A 13-year-old boy who was accused of stabbing his mother to death in their Hialeah apartment is being tried as adult and on Friday, his family appeared before a bond court judge to plead for a second chance.

The boy has been identified as Derek Rosa.

According to the state attorney's office, based on a review of all the evidence gathered and presented to the Miami-Dade grand jury, jurors have decided to indict Rosa for first degree murder. 

This indictment automatically places his case into the adult felony court system. Rosa will not be facing the death penalty.

During a bond court hearing Friday, Rosa's father and grandmother testified on the 13-year-old's behalf so that he would be allowed to go home and remain under house arrest.

Rosa's father said that his mother helped raise his son and that he was a good kid who was well loved by his friends.

He said he did not know what led to this incident, and added that after being in the military for 22 years, he had taught Rosa good values.

His father pleaded for a second chance and said that the grandmother would even be willing to move in with him to help with Rosa.

The hearing comes just days after the chilling 911 calls were released of Rosa contacting police after the killing.

The fatal stabbing happened back on Oct. 12 at an apartment at 211 West 79th Place.

Hialeah Police said the teen stabbed his 39-year-old mother to death in her bedroom next to a crib where the woman's newborn baby was sleeping.

The heavily redacted 911 call released Tuesday details the moments when the teen reported the killing.

At various points in the call, the dispatcher is heard asking the teen why he killed his mom, and the teen's responses are redacted.

A neighbor recorded the moments when Hialeah Police officers ordered the teen to come out of the apartment with his hands up.

Cellphone video shows the teen walk out with his hands raised, an officer taking him to the ground and other officers entering the home.

The teen later told detectives he stabbed his mother while she slept, according to an arrest report. He took photos of his mother's body and sent them to a friend on social media, and told the same friend over the phone that he killed her, the report said.

"This is heartbreaking, I never would have imagined something like this, a 13-year-old child taking his mother's life," Hialeah Police spokesman Eddie Rodriguez said. "It's a very sad story."

Rodriguez said the baby is the teen's half-sister. He said the mother's husband, the teen's stepfather, is a truck driver who was out of the state when the killing happened but was on his way back home.

In the 911 call, the teen tells the dispatcher that the stepfather is trying to call him and calling his mother's phone.

Neighbors identified the woman as Irina Garcia and that she had just given birth to the baby a few days prior.

Police said the baby was found unharmed in the crib next to the mother's body who was found dead from multiple stab wounds.

The 13-year-old was taken into custody at the apartment, police said.

Rodriguez said the teen is an 8th grader at iMater Academy in Hialeah.

Rosa has been denied bond Friday.

He has been assigned a judge and his arraignment has been set for next Tuesday.

Kohberger Indicted Only Days After University of Idaho Graduation

Emotions run high at the University of Idaho as the news of Bryan Kohbergers indictment was announced only days after the victims were honored at their graduation ceremony. 

Bryan Kohberger, the alleged murderer of four University of Idaho students, was indicted by grand jury earlier this week therefore waiving the preliminary hearing that was scheduled to happen on June 20th. Kohberger’s accused crimes are four counts of first-degree murder and one account of burglary

When speaking to retired Cincinnati attorney, Daniel Harden, he explained why a case could be indicted by the grand jury and not a preliminary hearing. “This is a highly public case,” Harden said, “there is likely a lot of evidence they don’t want the public to be aware of before the trial.” He also explains that being indicted by a grand jury is fast and efficient. In contrast, a preliminary hearing would essentially be a mini-trial where the prosecutors and defense would just “go at it,” explained Harden. 

Meanwhile, during the commencement ceremony at the University of Idaho, all four victims were honored. All of the families were there to accept the awards given to each student. Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen who were set to graduate this spring, were awarded with posthumous degrees. Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were both given certificates.

“It was a very beautiful ceremony and I think that it gave us a lot of closure,” explained University of Idaho senior, Coral Hinson. She also explained, “All I could think about was their families after hearing about the indictment and being in Moscow before the news of his indictment was released.” 

Alyssa Kusluch, a Washington State University student who attended the ceremony in Idaho, said that she was touched by the ceremony. “I think a lot of people don’t realize how close we were to all of this.” she said. Alyssa also expressed her safety concerns because she also works in Moscow,“All of the traffic because of this arraignment from news and people invested in this case makes me scared. I don’t feel like WSU kept us well informed in their initial search for a suspect and ever since, I have been so uneasy.” 

Kohberger is now set to appear in court on Monday at 9 a.m. Pacific Time for an arraignment. There will be no live broadcasting from the courtroom however, unlike his preliminary hearing, there will be video recordings taken by a small amount of the media where audiences can watch it after. Harden said that Kohberger would likely plea not guilty. Harden also said that there will be a trail date set.

Crown prosecutors have laid additional criminal charges against “Freedom Convoy” organizer Chris Barber. They allege that he encouraged truckers to disobey a court order during the Ottawa protest in early 2022. The Saskatchewan truck driver and his co-accused, Tamara Lich, also face six other charges related to the protest. These charges include mischief, harassment, obstruction of police, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer. On the date of the allegedly alleged offence, Barber posted a video on his TikTok page. The video referenced a court order issued two days earlier by Justice Hugh McLean that restricted truck air horn use in the city core. Despite the injunction, Barber encouraged truckers to blow their horns if approached by many police. “Guys, lock that door, crawl into that bunk, but before you do that, grab that horn switch and don’t let go,” Barber advised in the TikTok video. “Let that f***ing horn go no matter what time it is and let it roll as long as possible, until they bust your f***ing windows down.” A revised charge sheet filed by the Crown specifies that the offence Barber allegedly counselled was not committed – that is, no one violated the court order based on his advice. Barber has not yet been arraigned on the pending charge. His lawyer, Diane Magas, did not immediately respond to a comment request. When Barber appeared as a witness at the Public Order Emergency Commission in November, Ottawa lawyer Paul Champ asked him about the TikTok video. Barber replied, “My understanding was if the police come and mass arrests happen, we could warn the other drivers.” Lich appeared by video link in an Ottawa court on Wednesday, dealing with several procedural motions. This is in advance of her and Barber’s trial, currently scheduled for September. At the hearing, Barber’s lawyer, Diane Magas, confirmed that she had abandoned an abuse-of-process motion that alleged Crown prosecutor Moiz Karimjee violated Barber’s rights by filing into the court record a police extract of his phone data, containing thousands of text messages and call logs. In an affidavit filed last month, Karimijee said he believed police included only text messages between Barber and Lich in the evidence filed in the court record. He noted that he helped Magas obtain a sealing order and publication ban on the data extract. This was after CTV News reported on the content of some messages. Crown prosecutor Dallas Mack told the court today that Magas’s motion was based on “unfounded” and “spurious” allegations of misconduct against Karimjee. Lich and Barber are currently released on bail.
