2 September 1969

Ho Chi Minh, leader of North Vietnam has sadly passed away mid-speech in Hanoi on 2 September 1969. The cause of death was reported to be heart failure. 

North Vietnam has been thrown into utter chaos and fear over this sudden loss of their leader and many question the stance that their new leader, whoever it may be, would have on the South Vietnamese. Previously, Ho Chi Minh had set up the Vietnam Alliance Council to seek a peaceful settlement to the Vietnam War, but now the USA and South Vietnam have renamed the council to the “Vietnamisation Alliance Council”, given that North Vietnam has decided to leave the council completely.

A combined statement by the USA and South Vietnam stated that the purpose of the VAC is now to facilitate a peaceful transition from the USA pulling out of the South while ensuring that the South, Laos and Cambodia do not suffer negative repercussions from this move. There are currently 550,000 US soldiers in Vietnam.

The citizens of South Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the USA eagerly await the next steps the VAC will take.”

During my research process, I found this interesting double page spread which i felt inspired by. I decided to recreate it, using my font and colour palette to make it more ‘my own’. I added a Vietnamise version of my font description as it is portrayed on the Cadson Demak website, and the font is also Vietnamise and Thai inspired. I am very happy with how this double page spread turned out, and I think that it goes perfectly with the rest of my font book. I think that it is very cohesive and works well with my font and colour palette.

No but the fact that druck is setting up a girl who is literally KNOWN for microagressions against poc people, with the one out of two asian characters on the show, after Finn literally complained about Zoe being sometimes disrespectful towards his vietnamise culture/family??? And after denying a season for the black girl Mailin directed most of her microagressions to? They don't give a fuck about good representation at all

thank you for pushing back against people defending the Chinese government's treatment of Uyghurs. i understand not spread stuff that might be exaggerated for hawkish purposes but when i see people who just go "yeah but they WANT to be in reeducation camps" i'm sketched out. people are being forced to admit this is happening, they just frame it as defensible and it's fucked.

Genocide denial is the default stance of the crude anti-Imperialist, and it's no surprise that it's widely espoused by MLs. If we accept that the treatment of Uighurs/broader Han colonialism is unacceptable, then we also have to accept that Stalinist Russification was unacceptable, that Vietnamisation was unacceptable, and etc etc etc, and if we do that then you can't be a ML any more. Some people try to justify the first two but condemn the last, but this is way harder to maintain mentally. Much easier to just be consistent.

Now it is depressing that the state of radical politics on this site has gotten so bad that people are surprised and happy that someone vaguely in that sphere would oppose genocide instead of ignoring it at best or usually just committing to supporting it in any way that they can.
