some of us have the theory that the 1987 Skipper sculpt was originally going to be Japanese Barbie, since that was just after Takara's licensing agreement to make Japanese Barbie ran out, and Mattel may have decided to try making a doll with Japanese aesthetics and Licca-like proportions...but instead went with selling the same Barbies in Japan they sold in the US, but, hey, they still had this sculpt, and the previous new Skipper sculpt was...not popular, so, might as well update Skipper, eh
but it's all just a theory

Somewhere in an overlooked corner lies a secret garden. Le Jardin de Poupées is both a doll sanctuary as well as a fun place for them to hang out!
This portrait is of a doll named Lorelai. A more recent resident, she spends most of her time alone—strolling throughout the forgotten areas of the garden. Lorelei was a doll that was originally commissioned by someone in the likeness of their lover, and at the couples’ passing was left to wander the world. She enjoys romance novels, daydreaming, and cats. She also hopes, more than anything, that she can soon make a special friend!

The new Bild Lilli book has arrived from Switzerland and features amazing pictures of the original Bild Lilli fashions, modeled on Peter Isler’s amazing collection of Bild Lilli dolls (including some ultra rare brunette and redhead Lilli’s).
The cover mimics the original Bild Lilli fashion catalog from the 1950s:
And the back cover features an old advertisement suggesting a gentleman could get a Bild Lilli doll as a cute gift for a loved one:
I’ll only post a couple of pictures from inside, the one below shows a couple of the brunette Lilli dolls:
And of course the tennis outfit:
And my gorgeous Lilli’s getting ready to browse the book:
For anyone interested the book can be purchased at www.lilli-book.com directly from the author/owner of all the beautiful dolls inside.

This was heavily inspired by the vintage Francie outfit Tenterrific. I tried several times to measure the pleats--but felt like making a pleating template was too much trouble--so I ended up pinching the cloth before ironing, so the pleats are not as even as they could be. It's fine.
