VisionOS App Development Services by Agicent
We’ve started learning and honing our skills on VisionOS from the day it was launched in 2023 and now when the device is actually here, we are getting overwhelming requirements for our VisionOS App development services and we offer a complete spectrum of services which are useful for all sizes of projects and startups.
VisionOS App Discovery Session & Consulting Service
In this step, we understand your product vision and the market you want to cater. We gather all your requirements (feature list, use-case, goal, monetization methods and goals, integrations, future vision etc) and consult you on the best features for the MVP or for full product, and also do a competitor analysis to let you know the gaps in the market and propose you the best possible solution. We also lay out a scope of the work and provide you either a fixed price estimation for the VisionOS App development or offer you a dev team on month-on-month basis with these pricing plans.
You can book a Free VisionOS App Discovery Session from here.
VisionOS Apps Design, Wireframes, Prototyping Service
In this step, we convert your feature list into visual design and wireframes. This is the most crucial step among all others as whatever we are going to launch in the market is visualized and finalized here. We closely coordinate with you at this stage, figure out what kind of target market we have and what type of design would they like, and then create the design and simulate that like a clickable prototype or a demo video like this example.
We send these design visualizations for your feedback and approval and do as many iterations as you want and once approved we proceed towards the actual development.
Tech Architecture and Coding Phase: Agile Sprints
Once design is approved, we create the tech architecture to achieve what we have visualized in terms of the design and functionality. And the next step is coding the VisionOS App using SwiftUI, ARKit, Unity, Xcode, ComposerPro tech stacks as well as backend technologies like Node.js, MongoDB or likes.
We create the tech architecture keeping a larger future vision in mind so the MVP VisionOS App we develop today assuming for a small amount of users, should be scaled easily and quickly to cater millions of the users and more advanced features and also leave a lot of room for future integrations with different technologies. Usually our CTO and Engineering leads do the architecture job.
The whole project is broken down into small feature bunches and then they Weekly Agile Sprints are schedule to achieve those features week by week. At every weekend a progressive Adhoc VisionOS App build is released for testers and clients for the UAT. Any bugs or enhancements are noted down and added with the next week’s dev sprint and the build is shipped to either live or test server depending upon your priorities.
Adhoc Distribution and Final go-live
During the development phase, the visionOS App is distributed across a private network (of clients, early users/ testers, dev teams) as an Adhoc build that we create using Apple’s guidelines and protocols on its iTunes connect ecosystem integrated with the Xcode and other tech stacks associated with the VisionOS App Development.
The final App store submission is done when the Dev cycle is complete and you give us a go ahead to go live. We do the whole job for you.
The whole solution is also ported onto the live cloud server and infrastructure using our DevOps experts.
VisionOS App Maintenance, Enhancements, Upkeep
Once the first version goes live, you can either switch to the maintenance phase for the upkeep of the VisionOS App or can go about launched further features for enhancements. Our Dev and maintenance plans starts from as low as $ 2900 mo and sometimes even lesser if you only need under 100 hours of maintenance a month.
Like advanced mobile apps, VisionOS Apps also utilizes various third party APIs from user authentication to several other features like integration with maps, payment gateways, with other apps and backend and all such APIs launch new updates very frequently and hence the VisionOS app will have to be updated accordingly. Also the VisionOS itself is in its nascent stage right now and we can expect atleast 10 major or minor OS upgrades this year and for which a regular support & maintenance service will be required.
By offer Development, Design, Marketing, Maintenance, Porting services we make ourselves as you one stop VisionOS App Development Company.

Benefits of creating VisionOS Apps for Startups and Business
Clear Competitive Edge: The early mover advantage
It’s a very new device and have only started being sold in some parts of the US only. Anyone moving first for this device is definitely going to get a lot of advantage in terms of targeting the niche and comparatively upscale user-base.
Even the existing Apps that will scale for VisionPro Device exploiting its AR/ VR spatial capabilities are going to offer enhanced experience to its existing user base and gain more customer loyalty and branding.
A new world of opportunity to Innovative
For the same reasons as stated above, its spatial computing capabilities have opened a whole new world of amazing innovation opportunities. We’ve listed below some of the possible innovative use cases for various industries on this page itself, and we believe that there will be millions of amazing use cases out there that can solve the current world problems in much better ways than what is being done by the current smartphone device and apps.
Integrating the VisionOS apps with different devices will offer great possibility to further innovate as well where several interconnected devices sharing and exchanging data will proide more seamless convenient life to the user especially for healthcare, home automation, and business usage.
Unique and Immersive Experience
Vision Pro’s unique spatial computing, tracking and depth perception allow for highly realistic and interactive experiences in augmented reality (AR) and Virtual reality. Users can experience and manipulate virtual objects in a natural human way and that will create a sense of real presence and break down the barrier between the physical and virtual digital world.
Any app utilizing these spatial immersive capabilities are going to be used more and more by the users compared to regular mobile or web apps and therefore launching an app on VisionOS gives you a more loyal and consistently engaged user-base.
Better interactive Storytelling
You can tell your story in more interactive and appealing way when it looks and feel closer to the reality and that is exactly what Visionpro device offers to its users. Businesses as well as creators can create and tell immersive mixed reality stories that can actually engage users for a longer span than just scrolling back in few seconds.
A historical content creator can create virtual historical battles that you can see happening in front of your eyes, or or viewing ancient battles unfold right before your eyes. Or a virtual story showcasing you the world of dinosaurs as a moving and sounding reality.
Same goes for product visualization as we’ve discussed the same concept in details below in Ecommerce Use-case. You can showcase and appeal your product with a realistic experience, creation of immersive demos and free trials can help marketers win the consumer’s confidence to a higher degree than what you are able to do with the old technologies.
Story is everything, and VisionOS allows you to tell your story in the best way possible so far in the history of the mankind.
VisionOS App development is not complex
Creating mixed reality Apps have always been a complex and typical exercise compared to the conventional software development, especially because of the demand of creating interactive virtual reality UI and UX. However, VisionOS has already done majority of the heavy lifting and if developers are familiar with Apple iOS development and Arkit (which our developers are) then creating VisionOS Apps using the same skill sets becomes really easy.
Its juts a transition of the device and the change of UI, while rest of the technologies will be as same as iOS developers have been using for the last few years.
Process of Creating VisonPro VisionOS Apps and the required Tools
Understanding the Vision Pro Ecosystem and its features
At the heart of the Vision Pro experience is the blend of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), powered by Apple’s cutting-edge M2 chip and a specialized R1 chip. These components work in harmony to deliver unparalleled performance and immersive experiences, tracking your movements and rendering captivating virtual environments.
Understand its most important and unique features, such as:
Eye, Hands, and Voice based gesture commands:So whichever VisionPro app idea that you are contemplating to create should completely exploit these cool features.
Virtual Avatars and 3D Facetime: Virtual avatar in VisionPro universe are going to more realistic and so as the video calls. We also think of a scenario where an AI avatar of yours takes a meeting on your behalf while you physically take another meeting and the possibilities are endless.
Immersive-ness Control:VisionPro users can increase or decrease the level of immersiveness as per their choice, so your App should be compliant to the same.
Transparent Display: As VisionPro is a mixed reality spatial device, the display is actually transparent as it goes hand in hand with the reality. So your UI/UX design must adhere to this fact and in most of the cases a minimal design will turn out to be the best design because everything else will be taken care of by the real world.
02. Getting Started with visionOS App Development
The gateway to creating apps for Vision Pro is visionOS, Apple’s bespoke operating system tailored for spatial computing. This environment is your canvas, allowing you to merge digital creations with the physical world seamlessly. To set sail on this development journey, you’ll need a Mac running macOS Monterey or newer, the latest version of Xcode, and the Vision Pro developer kit. At Agicent’s VisionOS App Development Company, we’ve all the required infrastructure, team, testing devices and some more. You just have to tell us about your project, and we take care of the rest.
03. Ideation of VisionPro VisionOS App
An entrepreneur or startup or a brand should explore all the possibilities a spatial VisionOS App can achieve on this device. Do a market analysis, competitive analysis, go back to the history where web apps exploited mobile capabilities and a new market was emerged, so similarly think of what additional capabilities mobile apps can offer if they are ported onto visionPro devices.
We think of scenarios in the industries like healthcare where preventive healthcare and telemedicine apps can be created for VisionOS with spatial capabilities, or in an industry where there are plenty of machines and a VisionPro Maintenance App can tell the supervisor about health, maintenance schedule, warranty of the machines just by looking at them, or think of a real estate app where you just wear your visionpro device and see which of the properties in front of you are up for sale or rent and so on.
It is always beneficial to have a industry or subject matter expert on board while ideating for an app for that particular industry, however there are some low hanging fruits that anyone can achieve simply by scaling the existing apps with the spatial mixed reality features for the visionpro device.
We as a VisionOS App Development Company provide you consulting service even before development in figuring out the right features, UI/ UX and target userbase for your VisionOS App idea.

Tech Tidbits: Artists vs. AI, Apple’s Latest Move, and Yahoo’s Big Buy
Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, Katy Perry and other musicians sign letter against irresponsible AI
Tumblr media
AI News A group of 200 musicians signed an open letter calling on tech companies and developers to not undermine human creativity with AI music generation tools. The list of undersigned artists is so power-packed and wide-ranging that it could make for a great Coachella lineup — it features Billie Eilish, the Bob Marley estate, Chappell Roan, Elvis Costello, Greta Van Fleet, Imagine Dragons, Jon Bon Jovi, the Jonas Brothers, Kacey Musgraves, Katy Perry, Mac DeMarco, Miranda Lambert, Mumford & Sons, Nicki Minaj, Noah Kahan, Pearl Jam, Sheryl Crow and Zayn Malik, among others. “When used irresponsibly, AI poses enormous threats to our ability to protect our privacy, our identities, our music and our livelihoods,” the letter reads. “Some of the biggest and most powerful companies are, without permission, using our work to train AI models… For many working musicians, artists and songwriters who are just trying to make ends meet, this would be catastrophic.”
These artists are right. The AI models that generate new music, artwork, and writing function by training on massive datasets of existing work, and in most cases, asking to remove your work from these models is a futile exercise. It would be as if one of these artists tried to prevent anyone from pirating their music—it’s just not realistic. It’s already possible to make convincing deepfakes of popular artists, and the technology will only keep getting better. Some companies, like Adobe and Stability AI, are working on AI music generators that use licensed or royalty-free music. But even these tools could negatively impact artists who make scores for TV commercials or other beats that an artist might license for their work. Historically, musicians have gotten the short end of the stick as technology gets more and more sophisticated. First, it was file-sharing that made it easy to get music for free; streaming emerged as the answer for that issue, but it’s not one that’s satisfied artists. The Union of Musicians and Allied Workers (UMAW) has spent years working to secure better streaming payouts for artists—the artists in the guild estimate that Spotify’s average streaming royalty rate is about $0.0038, or about a fourth of a cent. So it makes sense that musicians remain skeptical of this emerging technology.
Authors have also taken a stand against the rise of generative AI. In July, over 15,000 writers—including James Patterson, Michael Chabon, Suzanne Collins, Roxane Gay, and others—signed a similar open letter, addressed to the CEOs of OpenAI, Alphabet, Meta, Stability AI, IBM and Microsoft. “These technologies mimic and regurgitate our language, stories, style, and ideas. Millions of copyrighted books, articles, essays, and poetry provide the ‘food’ for AI systems, endless meals for which there has been no bill,” the authors’ letter reads. But these tech companies aren’t listening. You can still go on ChatGPT and ask it to churn out a passage in the style of Margaret Atwood — it’s not necessarily good, but it does indicate that the large language model has ingested “The Handmaid’s Tale” and can spit out a degraded version of it. And since copyright law isn’t necessarily sophisticated enough to address generative AI, legal recourse is pretty useless at this point. “This assault on human creativity must be stopped,” the musicians’ letter says. “We must protect against the predatory use of AI to steal professional artists’ voices and likenesses, violate creators’ rights, and destroy the music ecosystem.” SOURCE
Now Apple Vision Pro Personas can float freely across different apps
Tumblr media
AI News As of today, Apple has introduced an enhanced feature for Vision Pro users – the “spatial Persona” capability, leveraging VisionOS 1.1. This update transcends traditional FaceTime interactions, allowing users to engage in a more immersive experience with Share-Play-enabled applications. Users can now collaborate, play games, or enjoy media together, simulating the presence in the same physical space. Originally previewed to developers last year, this functionality is now accessible in the Persona beta. It enables individual users to manipulate and reposition objects within their view, independently of how it affects another user’s perspective. Additionally, spatial audio technology aims to enhance the realism of the virtual environment, giving a sense of the other person’s location within it. To activate spatial Personas, users must update their devices to VisionOS 1.1 and select the option during a FaceTime call. The feature supports group interactions of up to five participants simultaneously. The effectiveness of this feature remains under evaluation, particularly due to its dependency on Share-Play and the relatively underdeveloped Vision Pro app ecosystem. The potential for reducing feelings of isolation through virtual companionship in activities such as movie watching will also be a point of interest in its real-world application. SOURCE
Yahoo is buying Artifact, the AI news app from the Instagram co-founders
Tumblr media
AI News Artifact, an AI news recommendation tool co-founded by Instagram’s creators, didn’t achieve widespread traction but is poised for a resurgence under Yahoo’s banner. Despite its innovative approach to curating news for readers, Artifact struggled to expand its user base. Yahoo, with its vast audience, sees an opportunity to inject cutting-edge technology into its services, aiming for a rejuvenation in the competitive news aggregation space. Yahoo has acquired the technology behind Artifact, not its team, with co-founders Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom serving as “special advisors” rather than joining Yahoo directly. The transition marks the end of Artifact as an independent app, a decision made three months after its creators announced its discontinuation, citing limitations in market potential as a key factor. Despite initial plans to move on without seeking buyers or additional funding, interest from several companies, including Yahoo, prompted reconsideration. Yahoo’s acquisition reflects a strategic move to harness AI for enhancing content personalization and recommendation, leveraging Artifact’s sophisticated algorithms. The collaboration promises to bring Artifact’s advanced content categorization and user experience design to Yahoo News, potentially expanding to other Yahoo platforms. This integration aims to significantly increase the reach and impact of Artifact’s technology, offering personalized news experiences to Yahoo’s 185 million monthly users.
As Artifact’s technology integrates into Yahoo’s ecosystem, the focus will be on gradual implementation, ensuring the sophisticated AI algorithms adapt effectively to Yahoo’s infrastructure. This partnership not only offers a new lease on life for Artifact’s innovations but also signals Yahoo’s ambition to pioneer a future-oriented news service, powered by state-of-the-art AI personalization techniques. Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom reflect on the journey and future possibilities, emphasizing their ongoing interest in AI’s transformative potential. While they explore new ventures, the successful integration of Artifact into Yahoo stands as their immediate goal, promising to redefine how users interact with digital content in an AI-driven world. SOURCE
Conclusion
The confluence of concerns from music artists about AI’s impact on creativity, Apple’s innovative expansion of Vision Pro’s capabilities, and Yahoo’s strategic acquisition of Artifact underscores a week of significant developments in the technology landscape. While renowned musicians advocate for responsible AI use, fearing for their creative integrity and livelihoods, tech giants like Apple and Yahoo are advancing the frontiers of AI and digital interaction. Apple’s Vision Pro introduces an immersive, spatial Persona feature, redefining virtual collaboration, while Yahoo’s acquisition of Artifact aims to revolutionize personalized news through advanced AI technology. Together, these stories reflect the ongoing dialogue between technological advancement and its ethical implications, highlighting both the potential of AI to enhance human experiences and the critical need for its thoughtful application. As the digital and creative worlds continue to intersect, the challenge lies in harnessing AI’s power to foster innovation while safeguarding the essence of human creativity and connection. The Apple Effect: Stryker's Mako Embraces Apple's Vision Pro for Surgical Visualization
Tumblr media
Stryker's Mako, a robotic surgery group, has joined the wave of companies following Apple's lead by integrating their technology into their products. With the release of Apple Vision Pro, Mako has developed the myMako app, allowing surgeons to visualize and review surgical plans in an immersive way.
Apple's influence on the market, often referred to as "The Apple Effect," has prompted companies to venture into new product categories. One such company is Stryker's Mako, a robotic surgery group that has embraced Apple's latest technology. Mako, initially founded by Rony Abovitz, the founder and former CEO of AR unicorn Magic Leap, has integrated Apple Vision Pro into their surgical visualization process.
This move highlights the impact of Apple's entrance into the XR market and how it is shaping the strategies of other major hardware companies.
youtube
Mako's Journey from Magic Leap to Apple Vision Pro
Rony Abovitz founded Mako Surgical in 2004, a medical robot company that caught the attention of Stryker. In 2013, Stryker acquired Mako Surgical for $1.65 billion, just three years after Abovitz founded Magic Leap. While Magic Leap and Vision Pro share similarities, such as being high-priced standalone devices targeted at developers and professionals, Mako's choice to integrate with Vision Pro instead of Magic Leap speaks volumes about the broader market's response to Apple's headset.
The Limitations of Magic Leap
Magic Leap's first headset, released in 2018, aimed to revolutionize the industry but faced several challenges. Its relatively narrow field of view and outdated optics received criticism, including from Oculus founder Palmer Luckey, who called it a "flashy hype vehicle" with limited practical use. Following a pivot and CEO change, Magic Leap shifted its focus solely to enterprise customers with the launch of Magic Leap 2 in 2022.
The Versatility of myMako and Apple's Stability
The myMako app, developed by Mako, could have been launched on various XR headsets, including Magic Leap and Microsoft HoloLens. However, Mako chose Vision Pro due to the stability and ecosystem that Apple represents. As the second-most valuable company globally, Apple's brand cachet and interconnected ecosystem of apps and services appeal to a wide audience, from prosumers to professionals.
Vision Pro's support for over a million iOS apps and its compatibility with visionOS natives contribute to its immediate success, despite its price tag of $3,500.
Competitors React to Vision Pro
Apple's focus on consumer hardware makes it a rising tide that lifts all boats in the XR market. Competitors are already responding to Vision Pro's success. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has stated that he believes Quest 3 is superior for most mixed reality applications.
Meta recently announced a partnership with LG for the rumored Quest Pro 2, which will directly compete with Vision Pro. Samsung, in collaboration with Google, is also developing its own Vision Pro competitor, featuring Android XR at its core. This response from major hardware companies shows how the Apple Effect is forcing them to reassess their strategies in the XR space.
The impact of Apple's entrance into the XR market is evident in the response from companies like Stryker's Mako. The integration of Apple Vision Pro into Mako's surgical visualization process demonstrates the influence of Apple's stability and ecosystem. As competitors scramble to remain competitive in the long term, it is clear that the Apple Effect is reshaping the XR landscape.
With Apple's rumored plans for a more affordable and accessible follow-up to Vision Pro, the XR industry can expect further disruption from the tech giant in the near future.

Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia! ☕️

Last week was cold, this week has been like a perfect spring. We had plenty of sunshine with highs approaching 70. Of course next week we drop back into the 40’s. It is winter after all. 😃

Apple’s EU Core Technology Fee Could Bankrupt Freemium App Developers
This is going to take some time to fully understand. Apparently one of the rules requires app makers to pay Apple the equivalent of $0.54 per app installation over one million. Now, if you’re selling a product for some hunk of change or have recurring revenue you’ll probably be fine if you manage to have one million plus installations. Heck, I’d love to have to think about this problem. 🤣
Having other stores to distribute your apps through also sounds interesting but you need to verify you have access to $1,000,000 dollars to handle support issues and keep the store running smoothly.
I’m curious to see what Epic and Spotify do.
As for me, I’ll stick with the good old 15-30% cut and hope someday I have to pay Apple 30% of my sales. Why? Because it would mean I’m making really good money.
M.G. Siegler • Spyglass
I’m honestly not sure I can recall a press release dripping with such disdain. Apple may even have a point in many of the points above, but the framing of it would just seem to ensure that Apple is going to continue to be at war with the EU over all of this and now undoubtedly more.
His analysis of Apple’s press release is a laugh. Apple is definitely trying to scare the crap out of folks. 🤣

One place where Netflix won’t be is Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro VR headset. Why isn’t Netflix planning an app for what is Apple’s big $3,500 gamble on the future of augmented reality? According to co-CEO Greg Peters, it’s because the company doesn’t know if anybody’s actually going to use it.
I can’t say that I blame Netflix for their stance. Vision Pro is a brand new, extremely expensive, piece of technology. It may be cool and all but will enough folks buy into it to justify putting a lot of resources into it?
This doesn’t mean Vision Pro will be a failure. Remember, the iPhone didn’t exactly shoot out of the gate like a rocket. It took a couple iterations for it to finally gain mainstream traction. Heck, iPhone 1 didn’t even have an App Store, it only had “the sweet solution.” 🥽

Breaking News: Siri’s AI Evolution by Apple
Tumblr media
Apple is creating a generative AI version of Siri
According to insider sources, Apple is developing a new generation of generative AI experiences for their software lineup. The software engineering team has big plans to release major changes to Xcode, Keynote, Siri, Apple Music, and its own LLM Ajax, called “Apple GPT,” early next year.
In order to handle AI, Apple’s senior vice presidents in charge of AI are thinking about using a hybrid deployment strategy in the upcoming iOS version, combining cloud-based infrastructure with on-device hardware acceleration.
The generative AI of Apple  Apple Music, Xcode, Siri, and more updates
Naturally, the most exciting development for most fans is the confirmation of an AI-powered Siri. As of right now, Siri incorporates artificial intelligence (AI), however there is still a lot of ambiguity about it. At its core, Apple’s mobile assistant is an information recall (IR) system rather than an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot like ChatGPT.
While the latter creates original language that may not have been previously, the former uses web crawling to gather the most pertinent pre-existing information. Artificial intelligence is not generating; instead, it may be used to accelerate the crawling process or improve the relevance of material that is recalled. While generative AI, by definition, creates an output (generate and remember are not synonymous), this addresses the issue of data processing.
What therefore is to be expected from a fully creative AI Siri? Finally, the voice assistant will be able to respond in real time, just like everyone’s favourite AI chatbot, ChatGPT from OpenAI. In fact, it has been claimed that the LLM (long language model) being created for this reason is internally known as Apple GPT!
The generative AI movement is led by Apple executives Craig Federighi, SVP of Software Engineering, and John Giannandrea, SVP of Machine Learning and AI Strategy. Eddy Cue, SVP of Services, has joined the senior vice presidents, who directly report to Apple CEO Tim Cook, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The tech giant allegedly views the sudden AI frenzy plaguing the market as a “pretty big miss,” which has caused Federighi’s team “a lot of anxiety.”
Xcode for Mac and Ajax
Apple is hard at work on developing Ajax, a huge language model, in addition to a more intelligent version of Siri. All of the natural language processing (NLP) functions that we have fast come to anticipate from rivals ChatGPT, Bing Chat, and Google Bard will be able to be performed by the AI model.
Ajax will also have the ability to create and read code. This coincides with an upgrade to Xcode, the company’s proprietary software engineering environment. “Integrated development environment for macOS, used to develop software for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS” has been Apple’s moniker since 2003.
Automatic text generation
For many years, autocomplete has been a typical feature of contemporary messaging apps. Nevertheless, the latest AI improvements will start to boost sentence auto-completion in 2024 with Siri and Apple’s own Messages app.
Playlists created by AI on Apple Music
In 2024, Apple will apply AI to its music streaming service, making it possible for it to make playlists in the same manner as Spotify. Playlists created automatically will curate music to complement playlists that you have personally assembled.
Is Apple’s entry into the AI race too late?
Meta has just lately caught up to the AI competition with a similarly extensive range of generative AI solutions. These goods and services include generative AI stickers, AI chatbots that will be available on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, and AI-generated advertisements. Apple could utilise Meta AI Studio, an LLM creation platform that lets other companies create their own unique AI models, for all of the projects it has planned.
As with every previous tech behemoth before them, Apple will, of course, create everything from scratch inside to maintain complete control and legal ownership. Although it would be naive to believe that any of the major tech companies in the globe were unaware of machine learning technology before to OpenAI’s November 2022 release, the Mac maker has already given every rival a several-month advantage in the consumer market.
It will get harder to keep up with each week that goes by because Tim Cook’s company hasn’t released an AI chatbot.
Apple is the latest big firm to enter the AI battle, following in the footsteps of Microsoft (via its partnership with OpenAI), Google (and its parent company Alphabet), Amazon, Baidu, Adobe, IBM, NVIDIA, and AMD.

Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3
Tumblr media
If you’re seeking a comparison between Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3, the highly anticipated VR headsets, you’ve come to the right place. We have a comprehensive analysis outlining the differences between these two devices.
At WWDC 2023, Apple unveiled its first-ever VR device, Vision Pro, which promises to deliver an immersive spatial experience. While just a few days before Apple’s event, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, announced Meta Quest 3 in his Instagram post, the latest version of their Quest series of VR devices.
These recent developments mark the beginning of a new era where we will soon witness the realization of concepts previously confined to movies. The development of these AR/VR devices has the potential to revolutionize our interaction with the digital world.
Let’s delve deeper to see what they bring to the table.
Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3
Tumblr media
1. Design
Vision Pro sports three-dimensional laminated glass embedded into an aluminum alloy frame and a wide array of cameras and sensors that create digital space beyond the boundary of traditional screens.
Furthermore, It encompasses a dial similar to that found on traditional smartwatches, which can be located on the headset, serving as a control mechanism for navigating through the augmented environment. It will allow users can easily manipulate and customize their virtual surroundings by rotating and adjusting the crown.
Moreover, it integrates a modular system that includes a Light Seal with different shapes, flexible audio straps for a spatial audio experience, and a headband that stretches and comes in different sizes.
On the other hand, Meta Quest 3 will be 40% slimmer compared to its predecessor — the Quest 2. Though Meta has not revealed much more about its upcoming device, It reportedly sports premium fabric-like material on the side, pill-shaped sensors, a redesigned touch plus controller, and TruTouch haptics which was featured in its high-end device — Quest Pro.
Tumblr media
What’s more, it also includes hand-tracking out of the box that lets you interact with virtual objects without a controller.
In addition to this, the Vision Pro features an external smartphone-size battery connected to the headset through a wired connection, whereas Meta’s product is truly a wireless headset and incorporates an integrated battery.
2. Screen
Vision Pro introduces two micro-OLED displays featuring a 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz. Although Meta has not provided detailed information about the display resolution or refresh rate, it is rumored that the device will feature an LCD screen with a resolution of 2064 × 2208 and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Additionally, Apple’s product boasts a powerful 5000nits brightness, surpassing the peak brightness of Meta’s Quest 3, which stands at 100nits, making it much dimmer than Vision Pro.
3. Features
Vision Pro:
The LiDAR sensor is integrated with front cameras in the Vision Pro, enabling advanced 3D mapping of the surrounding environment.
It runs on VisionOS — Apple’s and the world’s first-ever spatial operation system, which enables a powerful spatial experience and allows users to interact with digital elements, eyes, hands, and voice.
Also, It will have support for iOS and iPad OS applications. Additionally, the company has announced compatibility with Microsoft apps, thereby expanding the device’s potential capabilities.
Intelligent eyesight that shows visual cues to non-wearer and allows the wearer to see users around them, ensuring people around you are connected with you with Vision Pro on.
Audio pods that will let users experience Apple’s spatial audio technology.
It combines the power of dual-chip M2 and R1 to provide you with an immersive experience.
It will utilize optical technology to provide secure unlocking of the headset.
As described by the company, it is a controller-free device that runs on voice commands, hand gestures, and visual input.
Additionally, the headset is equipped with multi-app capability, enabling seamless switching between different applications without terminating any processes, thereby enabling multitasking.
Meta Quest 3:
It incorporates pancake optics and the latest Snapdragon XR2 chipset designed for VR headsets, offering 8K video capabilities and powerful AI processing power with low latency. The chipset delivers more than twice the performance as that of the previous generation chipset in Quest 2.
Meta-reality blends digital elements in physical space, providing an excellent spatial visual experience.
The Quest 3 will be compatible with over 500 VR games and apps supported by Quest 2.
Although not much information has been officially revealed about Meta Quest 3, speculation is arising from rumors circulating in the digital space and from Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement on Instagram. Meta plans to showcase the features of Quest 3 in the upcoming fall, so we won’t have to wait much longer for Meta’s next-gen Quest VR.
4. Price
The Vision Pro is an upcoming VR headset that is positioned as a high-end product and comes with a whopping price tag of $3499, making it less accessible to a majority of users. It will be available for sale in early 2024.
In contrast, the Quest 3 is an upgraded version of the Meta Quest 2, a cost-effective VR headset by Meta priced at $399 only. It aims to address and improve upon the issues found in the Quest 2, offering users a more polished and sophisticated experience.

“Honestly, the USB-C connector should have been introduced to the iPhone with the iPhone X.  Apple having basically different connectors that do the same thing on the iPhone and Mac for almost a decade is kinda strange.  It also would have allowed Apple to dictate cable standards like they're doing with wireless charging with Magsafe forming the basis for Qi 2”
