This is so obvious it's almost petty to talk about, but it keeps happening so I am increasingly faced with needing to decide to bring it up. Can everyone who advocates for not reposting art and for crediting artists start bringing that same energy to photographs of traditional art? Especially fiber arts and sewing related things, due to very prolific scraping accounts that repost things from elsewhere on the internet here to tumblr and a few years ago stopped crediting the artists at all. They never asked permission, but credit has just dried up entirely and it's galling to see.
I know non fiber artists don't really have the experience to see this, but just like visual arts, fiber artists develop pretty clear styles. So if a blog is posting elaborate pieces of infamously time consuming arts that cover a wide range of styles, once or twice a day, with no credits or discussion of themselves as an artist - that shit's stolen as fuck.
It feels like I'm going insane sometimes because thousands of people who otherwise yell all day about how artists need to be credited, just think that sewing related photographs pop into existence without needing to be linked to the person that made them.

You ever think about how hilariously messed up it is that some guardians modify their weapons to make targets' heads explode into literal confetti? In PvP it just adds insult to injury, but in PvE it feels like I'm committing a war crime

Daredevil confronted with having to find someone without letting others know he can't see
Daredevil: Any info on that informant who escaped?
Punisher: the guy you're looking for always wears a green shirt.
Daredevil: Uh... anything else?
Punisher: he has brown hair.
Daredevil: and...?
Punisher: oh! He has a huge scar on his neck.
Daredevil: does he have an accent or any non visual identifier???
Punisher: he's from New York.
Daredevil: that doesn't narrow it down.
Punisher: I don't know what to tell you, Red! He's got a face tattoo that says "damaged" on his forehead. Impossible to miss!
Daredevil: AAAARGH!!!

In We Are, it was the set-up in the volunteer camp at night to the PhumPeem kiss through the hand. Behind Peem, bits of movement, one character is praying on his bed, another farther back is adjusting his position on his mat, and the rest of the friends are asleep and still in different poses as a reflective soundtrack twinkles in. This moment out of all the New Siwaj shows I've seen (MIR, P10L, LBC, UWMA) invoked the reason for his fascination with such sprawling casts of characters, ribbing one another and falling in love--at least 3 major coupling plots in any show.
In literature, they borrow a nice fancy word from the music world to describe this, polyphonic, meaning multiple individual melody lines occurring at the same time. If you've read a book with more than two perspectives, that was likely polyphonic. It's as popular in YA novels as it is for literary fiction like a lot of the great Russian novelists, so it's really a big word for something that's pretty commonplace.
It's a bit less common in the dramatic arts since it requires less of a central plot, which is less dramatic. Robert Altman famously innovated multitrack recording for his overlapping dialogues in polyphonic films like Nashville (1975), which followed 24 different characters as they prepare to perform at a political rally where an assassination attempt eventually occurs. More familiar polyphonic series to many BL watchers would be Skins and SKAM, which switch main characters each episode and season, respectively, to address issues of multiculturalism and inclusion.
Across all the works I've mentioned, from YA to the Russians to Nashville to SKAM are themes of democratic participation and belonging. That's what polyphony's really exceptional at depicting. New Siwaj and We Are seem to know this. In fact, in the scene immediately preceding the various bed rituals in episode 9, a sign reads "Be Moral. Lead Democracy." (Thank you to the translators on who translate on-screen writing. Someone please tell the people at IQIYI about it.) The crowd of friends behind Peem in the sleeping quarters that our eyes are directed to through the bits of movement are each unique. Some pray before bed, apparently, some don't. They sleep in different positions. Nevertheless, they're in deep and silly community together, bonds that can withstand pranks, disagreements, laziness, secrets, and lies.
They're brotherhood is based on the kind of equality that makes no demands for perfection or sameness. They're all similarly dumb, perhaps, but their acceptance of that is what makes their friendships hold fast. That lies in harsh contrast to the heirarchical master/servant relationship established by Phum, and I'm excited to see from here on out how that contrast plays out to address the uneven nature of PhumPeem's arrangement and Phum's more individualistic worldview.
Much can be said about the found families in P'New series, but found families are beneath a larger umbrella about communal belonging broadly: who gets to live (UWMA), who gets to matter (LBC), who gets to make mistakes (MIR), who gets to be happy (P10L). No, he didn't write the scripts all those shows he directed, but his choices and his embrace of large ensembles reflect a unique ethic.
And the slapstick humor many disparage is an essential element to these democratic virtues. To do slapstick comedy, you have to be willing to play the fool, to be the butt of the joke, to be outrageous and be humbled. Despite the teal-tinted visual beauty of the show that might suggest otherwise considering the more indicative bold colors and low camp production that accompany other P’New shows, We Are might be the best example of Thai BL slapstick I've seen. It comes fast and often in the comedy scenes. Head slaps on head slaps on head slaps. And they go more outlandish with the physicality, like the three boys sneaking up on Q confessing to Chain with giant Looney steps. Many of the actors nail the timing, too—special shout out to Aou as Fang. Then there is little miracle of Poon, not even initially cast, who might be the most naturally gifted physical comedian in all of BL from what I’ve seen. A glance of his can have more humor than other actors’ whole resume. He’s the cherry on top of a whole cast willing to go for the joke under director New’s direction.
The overall effect of all this slapstick on the show asks us to imagine what the seven dwarves might've been like in college and whether being a part of some comical crowd like that, even if that makes you a fool, might bring us more joy and certainly more laughs everyday than being the romantic lead. Are you willing to give up your pedestal and accept your own simple-mindedness to garner friends, especially if fools fall in love, too?
Others mentioned that it took a while for We Are to click in for them, and I see what they mean now. Slow development and broadening perspective are the nature of the slice-of-life genre that it, even more than P'New's other shows, is a part of. To appreciate the extent of how slice-of-life it is, one of the running jokes is just about oil splashing when someone tried to cook in the first scene. But, with the help of the volunteer camp that forced them all in constant proximity together, I think I see it clearly now. These people with their little dynamic idiosyncrasies, like the kind of art they make or the way they lay in bed, started to matter like friends to me. I don't need big events to happen to them. I don't need them to be heroes that save the day. It took a while to get to know them, but now silliness spread amongst the lot of them, and love, is more than enough. The strange, vague title somehow gets to the heart of New Siwaj's motley crew and its ethos so far: not I am but We are.

the funny thing about stories trying to be more lgbt-positive is that they often forget to be less misogynist in the first place. case in point i'm playing this game and it has two nonbinary characters and they openly talk about it! awesome! except that this is only communicated because one of them keeps getting hit on by a man who reads them as "woman" and they have to explicitly say "hey stop being a sex pest to me and stop calling me a woman". and then the other character's nonbinary identity only gets revealed because the player character is egged on into peeping in on them showering (because they're seen as a cis woman) and then it's played up as this big surprise that OMG this character actually has a penis! maybe it's just me but i don't need nonbinary characters if this is the best we're gonna do lol

Yknow, as a fellow pansexual myself.. I really feel like Blitz is the most pan character that's ever canonically pan'd.
Obviously everyone's experience is different, but he speaks to mine. I talked before about how I think Blitz has a type. Stolas, Fizz and Moxxie are pretty similar in personality BUT different in appearance. Sure they're all twinky, but in different ways.
But, he often goes for the softer ones, the kinder ones, but also people who'll stand up to him. Anatomy is whatever, he can fuck anything, but personality is important.. It's THE thing that drives his romantic feelings.
The outlier is Verosika, so far.. But we also don't know how she was with Blitz. She seems to be bitchier, more vindictive than his usual type.. Even if all of them most definitely HAS a bitchier side to them. I can't imagine her NOT standing up to him tho.
Then again, while I also go for a specific personality type that spans over all genders.. There are certain things I find specifically attractive in certain genders too, even if it's no deal breaker (I'm nonbinary and tend to be drawn towards androgyny. But both long term partners I've had have been very cis. My girlfriend now is an average girl, not even supergirly just.. A girl, and she's hot af).
So he could also just be looking for something different in her. OR given the time in his life where he dated her, he could've been looking for something new and more chaotic to match the rest of his life. Who knows, i hope we find out.
Point is, his type is pretty obviously personality based romantically but sexually his limits are pretty high. If he says he's pan, it makes perfect sense to me.
