France 🇫🇷 La Sorcière - The Blonde Witch 1956

dir. Michel was Adapted from the 🇷🇺 Aleksandr Kuprin novel Olesya. Russian version of it was filmed in 1971.

🎭The Blonde Witch is played by Marina Vlady, actress, singer, activist, writer…Vlady was married to Soviet poet/songwriter Vladimir Vysotsky and she has wrote a book about their relationship.

The movie has a beautiful soundtrack (theme tune for my podcast) and it was composed by French Norbert Glanzberg. He was also notable for some famous songs of Édith Piaf.🎼

🌲The writer Kuprin wrote this book when fell in love of the nature and woods in a hunting trip.

📽️ Brulard, a French civil engineer on assignment in Sweden for a lumber company meets Ina, a local nature-girl type, falls in love, has an affair, tries to convert her to “civilization”, but ends up…no spoilers here.

🔥Movie was filmed in the locations (Dalarna, Mora) where Swedish witch trials were furious in the 17th century. The witch trial in Mora and Älvdalen 1668-1669 is the most famous Swedish witch trial because a famous illustration was made of it in Germany. This kind of prints had huge influence in the Europe and this particular one was even known in Massachusetts Salem at the time.

There were only few cases in 🇸🇪 when the “witch “ was burned alive so this drawing is incorrect. The convicted were beheaded in Sweden like in the Finland trials.

🐴“Funny” detail: Even the famous decoration, Mora’s wooden horse (Dalahästen) was banned, because witches were believed to be using them for the flight to the Satan’s orgies.

👨‍⚖️🇫🇮The witch “hunter” in Mora was Finnish Lorentz Creutz. As chairman of the Witchcraft Commission, Creutz took it upon himself to save Sweden from the devil’s grip. As head of the Witchcraft Commission, Creutz was ruthless because he was convinced of the correctness of his own actions. He was a man who never doubted.In two weeks the commission heard a total of two hundred defendants and witnesses. It sentenced to death the 16 inhabitants of Mora and the six inhabitants of Älvdalen. In addition, dozens of people were sentenced to various flogging and church punishments. The youngest 22 children had to stand in the church with a whip in their hand for three Sundays in a row and sit in a separate room during the year's services.(Lappalainen 2018)⛪️

Talahriel- An elvish last name I created, using Thalassian, the language of Blood Elves from World Of Warcraft. Loosely meaning ‘Death Keeper’ or ‘Death Guardian’. Talah meaning death, or possibly the opposite of light. Riel is taken from and simplified from ‘Ban’dinoriel’, meaning Gatekeeper. Brazil’s Post-Riot Social Media Restrictions Aren’t Worth a Free Speech Freakout

Democracies have the right to act in their own defense—even if that means some people temporarily have to go without tweeting.

The Brazilian government wasted no time in responding to the insurrection that shook the capital city on January 8. Hundreds of arrests were made right away, and authorities mounted a robust investigation that quickly identified many of the individuals and groups who paid for the pro-Bolsonaro rioters to get to Brasília. Naturally, such a robust defense of democracy has its detractors: Some on the right have complained that the government is overplaying its hand by arresting people who were at the scene of the crime but who are really decent people in their heart of hearts.

Such allegations are too self-serving to take seriously. The element of the government’s response that has probably sparked the most indignation, however, has to do with social media. It all started when Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes issued an order around midnight after the insurrection, ordering Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram to block accounts inciting or supporting attacks on Brazil’s democratic order. A fine of 100,000 Brazilian dollars (just under $20,000, more or less) would be applied to companies that failed to act within two hours of receiving notice from the court.

Some saw this as a grave civil rights violation. Journalist Glenn Greenwald, who lives in Brazil and can fairly be described as a “free speech absolutist,” was particularly vocal in denouncing the moves of de Moraes. “I can’t overstate how shocking and dangerous this new censorship order is,” Greenwald tweeted on January 13. “It’s from the same judge that even the NYT has been warning about as authoritarian.” Greenwald repeatedly referenced a New York Times piece by Jack Nicas and André Spigariol, which noted “a raw display of judicial force” by de Moraes “that crowned a trend years in the making: Brazil’s Supreme Court has drastically expanded its power to counter the antidemocratic stances of Mr. Bolsonaro and his supporters.”

De Moraes is indeed immensely powerful, handing down decisions with a solitary force that puzzles most American observers. Criticizing the willingness of many Brazilians to applaud de Moraes in the aftermath of January 8, Greenwald tweeted, “I’ve never seen a judge in any democracy with this level of power. He’s become a venerated hero of the Brazilian left, feared and off-limits from criticism.” Greenwald’s alarmism attracted the attention of Twitter’s Grand Poobah himself. “This is extremely concerning,” Elon Musk tweeted in response to Greenwald. “Is it just one judge?” he later inquired.

One can understand why Musk, whose grip on what constitutes both the public square as well as free speech is so famously loosey-goosey, would perceive a temporary ban from Twitter as an excruciating sentence. It is not clear why anyone else should. When allegations of state censorship are bandied about, it is worth establishing a sense of proportion and stakes to which our perspective might be anchored. Here’s one: In 1975, Vladimir Herzog, a journalist born in the former Yugoslavia whose family emigrated to Brazil when he was 9, was called in for questioning by agents of the political police. The prominent editor at TV Cultura was suspected of having ties to the Brazilian Communist Party. On October 25, Herzog dutifully showed up at the police station. He was never seen alive again.

Being banned from social media for a time might be inconvenient, and it might suck for prominent users, but it is not tyranny. A handful of people being barred from social media does not a police state make.

León Magno Montiel @leonmagnom Observo una postal de la Torre de Leandro, con su imponente faro en medio de la pequeña isla rocosa abrazada por las aguas del Bósforo, ubicada en el estrecho que une el Mar Negro con el Mediterráneo. Es uno de los mayores símbolos de Estambul, permanente recordatorio del mito de amor, del esforzado Leandro por la bella Hera, la hija de Afrodita. Hera cada noche encendía su antorcha para guiar a su osado amante cruzando a nado las aguas encrespadas del Bósforo. Hasta que en una noche de tormenta, el viento apagó su lumbre y su amante se quedó sin orientación. Las aguas se tragaron al joven Leandro, vencido por el cansancio, la muerte lo sembró en lo profundo del mar. La Torre de Leandro es una creación del siglo XII, que ha sido modificada en varias ocasiones, pero su aspecto actual se diseñó hace doscientos años. Sus paredes son blanquecinas, con la bandera turca; roja de la media luna y la estrella flameando en lo más alto, alertando a los navegantes que llegan a esa capital ancestral, que encierra los misterios de dos mundos antípodas. Ese monumento milenario me recuerda a mi hermano Leandro Lenin Montiel, animador y cantante que nació en Maracaibo el 6 de junio de 1963, hijo de Luis Nemesio Montiel en Olga Josefina Villalobos. Mi padre, chofer de tráfico, pero además un poeta enamorado de la música y la historia que leía con asiduidad, pues representaba su mejor divertimiento. Le colocó su primer nombre en homenaje a Francisco de Miranda y el barco “Leander” donde realizó su travesía en 1806 desde Nueva York hasta La Vela de Coro. Y el segundo, por su admiración al líder bolchevique Vladimir Ilich Uliánov –el camarada Lenin-, máxima figura de la revolución de octubre en 1917. Leandro desde niño comenzó a militar en el canto, primero en la escuela “Gabriela Mistral” en el barrio Amparo, donde tuvo la orientación maternal de la maestra Carmen de Mora. Luego, en el conjunto de gaitas de la Cruz Roja que dirigía don Luis García Nebot, donde compartimos viajes con los amigos: Roberto Antonio (Merenguero), Carlos Brito, Amílcar del Villar y Hendrick Fernández. Siempre demostrando su gran carisma, una cercanía natural con la gente, que hacía sentir al auditorio consustanciado con el animador que recién conocían. Después comenzaron los días en el Colegio Gonzaga, las excursiones con el padre Duplá, Paco Percáz y Antonio Pérez-Esclarín. La amistad con Marisela Árraga, Aidé Devis, Evaristo Pérez, Madelis Rodríguez, quien sería su esposa y madre de sus hijos mayores: Diego Leandro y las mellizas Damelis y Damilé. Con ellos conformó el Grupo Compa, logrando actuar en “La Canción Bolivariana” organizada por Alí Primera en 1983 en el Estadio “Luis Aparicio”. Su carrera profesional como cantante y animador la inició con Zagales del Padre Vílchez, allí cultivó una profunda amistad con las hermanas Guerra, con los hermanos Quiroz en San Francisco. Comenzaba a destacar como solista y animador, es contratado por Gaiteros de Pillopo, con ellos impuso los temas: “El don de saber gaitear” de Neguito Borjas en 1990: “El don de saber gaitear no nace con todo el mundo hay que cantar con profundo sentido tradicional” (Borjas, 1990). “Total zulianidad” de Elías Hernández en 1996: “Cuando Dios hizo el mundo miró de frente hacia el Zulia tenemos el mejor ritmo grandeza de nuestro acervo le dio relámpago y lluvia lago y poetas fecundos se viste nuestro civismo en el corazón del pueblo con un gran regionalismo” (Hernández, 1996). Esa dupla Montiel-Hernández repitió con el éxito “Sabe a gaita” en 1997. En 1998 grabó el tema “Tres días de sol” de Wolfang Romero y Papi Zuleta: “Quisiera tres días de sol sin noches ni lunas, que quede seca tu cuna de tanto y tanto calor, que al cuarto día mi lago tu lecho llene la lluvia para que de nuevo fluya el cristalino zuliano”. (Romero y Zuleta). En 1999 ingresó a Las Estrellas del 2000, agrupación donde compartió escenarios con Astolfo Romero, Danelo Badell, Germán Ávila “El látigo”. Con ellos grabó el tema “La regadera” de Heriberto Molina.

Finalmente aceptó el llamado de los hermanos Gómez para formar parte de Gosugaita, fue la última divisa a la que perteneció. En paralelo a su carrera como gaitero Leandro hizo buena radio, como la había aprendido de Pedro Colina, a quien oía junto a nuestro padre a principios de los años 70. Colina realizaba una radio participativa, carismática, con contenido social y con peso cultural. Y ese fue el camino que siguió Leandro. En Radio Calendario 1020 AM animó el programa de salsa junto a Samuel Portillo, con asesoría de Rafael Valladares. En Sabor 106FM demostró su solvencia para animar en la Fonoplatea de los Éxitos; así como en las tarimas de la Feria de la Chinita, en los “Poliedrazos” junto a Ozías Acosta y Adolfo Ochoa. Leandro siempre brilló en los escenarios y cultivó el amor fraterno de sus compañeros en cada divisa que estuvo. Sólo vivió 43 años, la muerte sorprendió a Leandro Lenin Montiel Villalobos el 21 de enero de 2007, un infarto destrozó su corazón en ese mediodía. La noche anterior había actuado con Rondalla y Serenata junto a sus compañeros Huáscar Pacheco, Pedro Rossell y Ender Fuenmayor. Lo despedimos la tarde del 22 de enero, mientras sonaban las notas de sus gaitas preferidas en los jardines del sur, lo sepultamos justo al lado de la tumba de nuestro padre Luis Nemesio. Un momento doloroso, inédito, que en la distancia lo vemos como un adiós entre lágrimas y cantos, para un hombre que le dio su luz a esta tierra y sembró el amor a su paso. Fue mi hermano más querido. Una vez más, un Leandro caía entre las aguas turbulentas, tratando de cruzar el estrecho de la vida, para encontrase con su amada Hero, es decir: su gaita. Predstavljena knjiga "Od Drvara do Ledenog mora" Branka Tomića

U Press centru Udruženja novinara Srbije, novinar i publicista Branko Tomić predstavio je svoju knjigu "Od Drvara do Ledenog mora". U tome mu je pomogao takođe istaknuti novinar i publicista Vladimir Stanković, koji je kolegu Tomića upoznao 1969.godine, nikada nisu radili u istoj redakciji, ali su im se putevi često ukrštali, pogotovo kada su pratili iste sportske događaje i takmičenja.

Tomić, rođen u Drvaru 1. januara 1948., bio je dugogodišnji novinar i urednik u sarajevskom "Oslobođenju", te dopisnik ovog lista iz Beograda i Novog Sada. Već duže vreme živi i stvara u Švedskoj.

Kao publicista objavio je deset autorskih knjiga, od kojih je za "Olimpijski spomenar" 2017. godine dobio specijalnu godišnju nagradu Međunarodnog olimpijskog komiteta. 

Knjigom "Od Drvara do Ledenog mora" Tomić osvetljava važne događaje koji su ga pratili od rodnog kraja, preko Beograda, Novog Sada i Sarajeva do izbeglištva u Švedskoj. Mada pisana u prvom licu, emocijom vrlo brzo postaje i naša, jer nas njen sadržaj itekako dotiče.

Tomić je promociju knjige “Od Drvara do Ledenog mora” već imao u rodnom Drvaru, Sarajevu i Novom Sadu. Ovoj beogradskoj promociji prisustvovali su pre svih njegovi Drvarčani koji žive u Beogradu, sportisti i sportski radnici sa kojim je Tomić sarađivao tokom novinarske karijere, pa sve do vašeg izveštača  kome je Tomić bio prvi urednik u sportskoj redakciji “Oslobođenja”.

Putin objavio što se mora dogoditi da se Rusija vrati u sporazum o žitu

Nakon izlaska iz sporazuma o izvozu ukrajinskog žita, ruski predsjednik Vladimir Putin nije isključio povratak u sporazum, ali samo pod ruskim uvjetima.     Moskva je prvotno dobila jamstva od Zapada da će nekoliko zahtjeva biti ispunjeno, rekao je Putin u srijedu na sastanku s ruskim dužnosnicima, prenosi agencija Interfax. "Čim se ispune svi ovi uvjeti koje smo ranije dogovorili odmah ćemo se vratiti tom sporazumu", kazao je Putin. Crnomorski ugovor o žitu sklopljen je uz posredovanje Turske i Ujedinjenih naroda, a trebao je olakšati ruski i ukrajinski poljoprivredni izvoz.     Taj je sporazum istekao 17. srpnja, nakon što je Rusija odbila obnoviti svoje sudjelovanje u njemu. Moskva se žali da se paralelni dogovor o ublažavanju pravila za ruski izvoz hrane i gnojiva nije provodio. Kijev je zatražio sigurnosna jamstva kako bi se omogućio nastavak plovidbe bez ruskog sudjelovanja u sporazumu. Rusko ministarstvo obrane priopćilo je u srijedu da će sve brodove koji plove u ukrajinske luke smatrati potencijalnim prijevoznicima vojnog tereta od ponoći, a zemlje pod čijim zastavama plove brodovi stranama u sukobu na ukrajinskoj strani, nakon povlačenja Moskve iz sporazuma o izvozu ukrajinskog žita.
