🖤🎨#ArtIsAWeapon 🇳🇬 #Nigerian #artist Adetomiwa Gbadebo at @voltashow! His spiritual, mesmerizing piece entitled "Yoruba Ronu" measures 8 x 12 ft (swipe ⬅ for more views). "'Yoruba Ronu' takes its name from a play by Chief Hubert Ogunde, a well known African playwright, which offers a post colonial deconstruction of colonized Yorubaland. The dots across the painting represent what is worn by the Ifá priest. Ifá is West African religion and spiritual concept as old as Buddhism, with a complex system of symbols and binary code used primarily for divination. The statue on the left side is an orisha - which symbols to the viewer to 'think beyond'.
