Made the mistake of going on Twitter and saw this RANCID take on the “Last Voyage of the Demeter” movie. At least the replies are on point. This is very funny.

the last voyage of the demeter is to dracula what rogue one is to star wars because you know that everyone is fucked before you even start watching but you still end up getting attached

I think Dracula’s destruction of the crew of the Demeter is for more reason than just him wanting a snack. I think, for whatever reason, he wants to arrive in England with no witnesses. He’s in one of the boxes; his weight would be noticed when they were unloaded. It would be difficult to be sure of conveniently getting off the boat separate from the boxes, both because he can’t leave it as a man (there was no passenger) and because he can’t cross running water. The death of the crew lets him crash the boat directly into the shore, so it is in physical contact with land, and then depart it as a wolf.
He’s not miscalculating. He’s causing the mist on purpose. He’s getting rid of the crew on purpose. He’s crashing the ship on purpose.

Imagine if The Last Voyage of the Demeter just ends with a twenty minute sequence of Dracula trying to singlehandedly steer the ship into Whitby without crashing.

listen dracula is my favourite gothic novel for many MANY reasons, but the winner has to be the literal ghost ship with a desperate dead man tied to the wheel in eternal prayer

You're right captain: It is nearly all over now. For you at least.
