Where all them people who tried to say Sanzu and Mikey had a deep relationship and trust each other the most..?
Tumblr media
#DAMN NEAR BROKE HIS NECK LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO#goodness that was so delicious#it’s no secret I hate Sanzu he’s an annoying ass character tht wakui has unnecessarily pushed forward in this arc#BUT I always stayed…mostly.. chill with him because I was waiting for the grand reveal of his backstory with Mikey#all we got… was tht shit about a fucking toy plane and him saying Senju doesn’t know what really happened tht say#guess we don’t need to know more because Mikey obviously doesn’t value his weird obsessive OBNOXIOUS ass#i will say it’s interesting how Hanma reacted to Sanzu getting his ass beat#i was sure he was the other time leaper yet he reacted as if he didn’t expect Mikey to act like this#makes me wonder if the reason he reacted like tht is bc it didn’t happen in the previous future..?#since Sanzu was talking about his destiny and shit so I’m wondering if takemichis meddling ruined shit but they were still tryna salvage#shit only for Mikey to become uncontrollable#hmmm who knows#also it was interesting to see how wakui didn’t show Mikey beating Senju up onscreen#guess he’s not ready to show tht but will show Taiju brutally beating the shit outta his little sister 💀#priorities tho because Mikey’s his favorite and I’m sure he doesn’t wanna go against his shit where he had him say he’d never hit a girl#I’m just tryna see how this ends bc how is this even a fucking fight if takemichi cannot go toe to toe with his ass#also AGAIN it makes no sense to think Mikey will be ok if he gets his ass beat#dude is legitimately mentally sick 😭 he needs actual help not fucking dumbass fights with other teenagers#I’m just 😩🤷🏾‍♀️ over this show#i still wanna see how it ends tho so I’m sticking around#gonna talk my shit tho 🤪#tokyo revengers spoilers#Tokyo revengers 262

Alright, let’s talk about Ken Wakui’s newest work
Negai no Astro
Or Astro Royal, whatever you prefer.
Tumblr media
I will be giving no blatant spoilers in this post, only speculations:)
Manga PV here; ITS SO GOOD!!!!
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯✦
Let’s get the obvious out of the way, Ken Wakui has a very distinct art style. And I love it! A lot of people are making fun of it (mostly on Twitter/X), and it’s really sad. I love his style, and character development.
I have high hopes for this manga, and want to paint a picture of what to expect for those who also want to get into it♡
Let’s start Character Designs
—our main-trio—
Tumblr media
We’re only one chapter in so far, so we’ve only met the main two boys, Terasu and Hibaru (left to right).
Terasu Yotsurugi - 12th Son
Loving Terasu’s take-no-shit personality so far. Simultaneously, he seems very kind and loyal to Hibaru’s ideals.
Terasu is giving Ryusei/Chifuyu lovechild.
Hibaru Yotsurugi - only Biological Son
I love Hibaru’s chivalrous/“old-fashion” ideology. He may seem ‘generic shonen protagonist’ right now, but i don’t care. I will appreciate him.
Hibaru is giving Mikey/Takemitchi lovechild.
Tumblr media
As for our blue eyes beauty over here, we have yet to see her yet. She seems very cute though.
She’s also giving lovechild vibes; Senju/Hina specifically…
—The Yotsurugi family—
There are 13 Siblings of the Yotsurugi family, whom has a history of being Yakuza.
12/13 Siblings are adopted.
So far, we only have designs for 11 siblings.
We do not know a lot of names thus far, WHICH I NEED BTW, so let’s go over what we do have, and my first impressions of them.
—Names going Left to Right per image
Tumblr media
Shio Yotsurugi - Eldest Son
He’s giving Timeskip!Taiju vibes. Anyone who says he looks like Ran…. I can’t see it. He’s too beefy- sorry.
I just know I’m not going to like this guy.
Has a lot of the people’s support, but not mine.
Probably thinks he’s going to make the family better when he’s really ruining it:(
Unnamed Glasses Guy - maybe 2nd Son?
Mmmmm no thoughts.
Token megane character—
Probably corrupt.
I hope he proves me wrong.
Tumblr media
Kou Yotsurugi - 11th Son
Middle child vibes
He will be deranged and misguided.
Probably “hates” Hibaru because he’s so much like their father, who I assume he respects, but doesn’t agree with.
He probably secretly admires them both though.
Unnamed Hottie - maybe 9th Son?
MINE. 👹👹👹 RAPID. FERAL. BARKBARKBARK—
I NEED NAMES, NOW WAKUI. NOW.
Who is he. Where was he. I must know.
also lowkey giving Angry’s blue-ogre vibes…
Based on vibes alone, I lay claim. Awoogaawooga♡
Didn’t appear in chapter 1 though so:( </3
Tumblr media
Unnamed ScarGuy - maybe 10th Son?
Eyes always closed, speaks with ♡ at the end of his sentences…
Seems charming. I mean, look at those eyelashes…♡
Wanna give him a kith.
I have a feeling he and Unnamed Hottie are biological brothers… not sure.
Wakui please, sir, just one chance—-
Unnamed BraidGuy - maybe 8th Son?
Mr. I’ll just stay in my lane. Respect.
Realistically, I think he’ll be my first/second favorite eye candy, depending on how these characters personalities/canons end up being explored.
I’m sorry I have a thing for men with long hair!
Cool earrings too lol
Seems neutral to who’s in charge.
Wakui, seriously, I CAN TAKE HIM—!!!
Tumblr media
BENKEI???? - maybe 5th Son?
Has lion-like eyes and sharp canines….big nose
My size kink is acting up—no, please nO—!
Okay but seriously. I’m not sure what to expect from him yet.
He seems honest, but I can see him getting power hungry:(
Handsome Lady - Maybe 3rd Daughter?
Cooler older sister vibes.
Awoogawooga
Please be a lesbian or at least bisexual—
Seems logical and cool. Probably doesn’t coddle innocence.
Tumblr media
Mr.BigNose - Maybe 4th son?
Uh-uh. No thanks. Not bc of his appearance, but bc his character is depicted as insufferable so far.
Probably sexist.
Probably too coward to admit it, but if things with the family bond start turning south, he’s the first one OUT.
Hehe I may have left this screenshot wide to show off the One Panel that shows Mr. Unnamed Hottie *twirls hair*
I mean seriously look at him I’m going to scream without the s
Story Direction and Expectations
I trust Wakui. The way he explores his stories is through character bonds and personal ideals.
This is one of the reasons why I grew so fond of Tokyo Revengers.
Plus… it’s Found-Family Gang activity. It’s my soft spot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I would say Yakuza but I want to be respectful in how I throw that word around, so I’ll avoid it for now if I can.
The supernatural powers that get involved will surely lead to a type of succession war between the siblings.
“What it means to be strong” will probably be the fundamental lesson of the story.
I am so excited to see how Negai no Astro will progress!
Please support Ken Wakui however you can by reading Chapter 1 onwards!♡

Ken Wakui knew what he was doing when he said Rindou is the second best boyfriend in Tenjiku.
Hear me out, he's all sharp edges, scathing retorts and LITERALLY DISJOINTS PEOPLE'S BONES. But with you... Those sharp edges melt like chocolate during a hot summer day. Before you two started dating, he would throw giant parties, inviting a whole crowd just for the sake of having you in his living room. And from his DJ booth his eyes would not stop crawling back to you, you know just in case someone tries some funny things.
And when you start dating, well he doesn't need those parties anymore. Because you're there, in his bedroom, even, and he's making you listen to the mix he made thinking about you ( but you would never know that). And he stopped going to school, but the path to that highschool knew his feet each and everyday. And Rindou is a hothead, drinking the risk at its roots, but still makes sure you wear his helmet perfectly before taking you on a ride on his bike.
Rindou's the type of boyfriend to spend money like there's no tomorrow, but the only time of the year when he saves some in when your birthday's near, his best girl deserves the prettiest, shiniest, newest golden necklace around her neck.
Yes, Wakui, you're right, Rindou's such a good boyfrien-
-" Look at you, such a fuckin' slut f'me "
Oh... Yeah aha aha... 👉👈
Human's nature is a second skin, and maybe the rough edges were just covered underneath some cotton candy dreams. Because the night comes, the light leaves, and the purple eyes of Rindou turn indigo under the desire, seeing you in your lingerie all waiting on his bed. Shit, the door wasn't even locked, Ran could've walked in, any of his friend's could've walked in. This thought makes his blood boil.
-" you like it when I fuck you like this, don't you ?"
At some point, everything hurts, the ties around your wrists tying you to his bed, his hand squeezing around your throat, his relentless thrusts abusing your poor pussy like it owned him some money, but again, pain and pleasure come from the same root and you've lost count on how many times you've came around him.
-" Fucking answer me. " His hand around your throat tightened, making your mouth form a perfect O shape. " You like it when my cock's ruining this tight pussy ? "
-" Rin'... Don't... Please don't make me say it !"
Shame laced orgasms were waiting at your door, but he likes it, the idea of corrupting you, you in your short pink skirts and your perfect girl's next door reputation.
-" Oh yeah you do. Baby loves being stuffed like... Shit, like my pretty little whore "
Another harsh thrust of him would have you arching your back, and his other hand would pull your hair back to have you looking at him.
-" Keep those fucking addicting eyes o'mme. Fuck, babe. Can't ya see how this pussy's hugging me ? You're such a slut for me... Only me, yeah ?"
His hand squeezes tighter around your throat, bringing your attention back to him.
-" This " you cried as his finger tapped over your over stimulated cunt. "Sweet thing's only for daddy's cock, hm ?"
Animalistic thrusts, ragging breaths, soul devouring desire, all until you're coming undone under him, and your fucked up face is enough. He barely has the time to withdraw before his cum is all over your breasts, some even reaching the necklace wearing his name around your neck.
Rindou reaches for his phone on the nightstand, while his other finger shoves some of his seeds in your mouth, barely leaving you anytime to protest.
-" Smile f'me, lemme keep your pretty face for when I miss the fuckin' love o'mma life. "
Yes, yes Ken Wakui, you're right. Rindou is the perfect boyfriend.
Keeping the picture of his girlfriend, tied to his bed, coated in his cum, finger shoved deep in her mouth as a lock screen.

(He's beautiful 😍) love my boy so much, I needed to make this post about him because he exists rent free in my head ❤️‍🔥
Warning: overwhelming love and me inserting some ship opinions (but actually, I mention suicide briefly
First off, let me say that I wholeheartedly choose to believe that Hanma has heterochromia. The only reason that the anime doesn't show it because they're cowards
Anyways,
Starting with the entirety of his life
Because the manga severely deprived us of a backstory, I'll never forgive you Wakui it is up to me to conjure up something that makes sense
I'm saying it with all the love in my heart, Hanma has such strong fatherless and motherless energy
It's probably from neglect, I don't think he was physically abused, I just think he didn't have a lot of love in his life
He probably got his tattoos when he was insanely young because his family just, like didn't care
Also, I don't remember where, but there's a headcanon saying that Hanma's dad is a police chief and I'm deeply obsessed with that idea and I think that it actually makes a lot of sense
Like his dad pushed him away even further because he didn't want his rep ruined because of his delinquent son
Also makes sense that Hanma wasn't caught when he was a fugitive (I don't believe that he could have run from the law for that long, I mean, have you seen this man??? This clown attracts attention everywhere he goes)
It would also add up if Hanma gets bored so easily because he's a rich kid and his life's so predictable. He wants something: he'll just get it. It's absolutely horrible
If I had to guess what his mom was, I would say she either left him when he was young or she was an actress/singer (I don't know why it feels like it would fit)
Hanma probably didn't have a lot of friends growing up (pretty sure that's canonical) and the reason that he's so strange and weird is because he had a wild imagination to occupy himself when he was growing up
Got into fights because he was very possessive as a kid (he probably didn't drop that trait when growing up, let's be honest), so when he saw some other kids try to play on the playground, he immediately went into fight mode
He was born really strong, so other kids kinda stopped messing with him and they treated him really well (where he got his dream of wanting to be treated like a king and having 100 servants)
He got bored so he moved on to seeking out fights, lo and behold
He got his Reaper title
Was of course really bored until some light came into life
He met Kisaki!
I think he loved Kisaki so much because 1) Kisaki was nefarious and he couldn't really guess what he was going to do next and 2) he's literally never had a friend before in his entire life and Kisaki quickly became his best one
Like, y'all can talk as much as you want about Kisaki, but he and Hanma had something
Their sleepovers might have consisted of Hanma playing video games while Kisaki's playing with people's lives but if that'snot friendship then what is
If y'all aren't planning the downfall of your enemies with your bestie then can you even consider yourself friends???
100% believe that Hanma has called Kisaki the light of his life
Or something weird like, you're the torch in my circus act or some shit
Kisaki probably hated the nicknames but it probably just fueled Hanma even more
Lives to annoy people
Completely random but I have to insert because I will forever ship Hanmai but I choose to believe that Hanma fell more Mikey after he tried to kick his ass and then when Mikey actually did kick his ass
It just seems so Hanma to fall for someone who hates him and has beaten the crap out of him
Kisaki would make fun of him for it, I know he would
On how much Hanma knows about Kisaki's plan, I think he chooses to know very little because he enjoys being shocked
I think that Kisaki would probably tell Hanma if he asked, who would Hanma tell?
Og Timeline:
Honestly, at this point what does that even mean?
But anyways, I honestly think that Hanma would have committed suicide
He doesn't really have anyone in his life and he's going to get bored one day
It's either that or jail
Just very depressing for me to think about
Bad Toman timeline:
Hanma probably uses his connections to the police, has a lot of fun because he has a friend and can do whatever he wants, breaks lots of teeth and enjoys everyone else's suffering
Bonten timeline:
Probably just trying to survive right? Like, Kisaki was dead in this timeline (god, there are so many timelines that I might be losing track or getting them confused with each other) so it's not like he had anyone to care about him
He was also on the run
Maybe he would have gotten recruited in another gang
I think he would have gone on living in order to keep Kisaki's legacy going on like wearing some of his old clothes, wearing his glasses, stuff like that
I don't know, this one is also pretty depressing
Final timeline:
He's actually very good at photography but I think the troll in him chose to take shoddy pictures of Takemichi's wedding
It's just so him
He either overcharges or undercharges, he's just that great
I don't remember if there are any other timelines so moving on
Random stuff (will be inserting ship opinions, lol)
Probably copied Takemichi's hatred of Kisaki, doesn't know why they hate him, but okay best bud!
Will obliterate anyone who bad talks Kisaki
Low empathy and sympathy for people and he enjoys other people in pain but that's more because the world is cruel and he decided to be crueler
Shameless flirt
Would flirt with someone in a relationship, if you destroy your relationship, that's not his problem
It's not his fault that he's so irresistible
I don't think that he has trust issues because he's very perceptive (way more then people give him credit for)
Don't need trust issues when you already know what everyone has planned
Makes his birthday a really big deal (if you're with him, be prepared to get him an extravagant present because he has no filter and will tell you when he thinks a present is ass)
But also, I think he forgets if his birthday is, like, the next day
Knows that Ran and Kakucho don't like/trust him but he literally could not give a fuck
He has also grown up with people not really liking him so he doesn't care
Spends as much time as he can with them because he adores pissing people off
He would probably try to sleep with them tbh to make them hate themselves (I don't know but my baby lowkey gives off whore vibes and he already likes fucking with people so two birds one stone)
Cares very little for people's opinions
Unless those people like him, then his opinions flip completely
Him and Draken would lowkey make a lot of sense guys, like forgetting the fact that in one of the timelines he aided in killing Emma, the love of Draken's life
Think about the fact that Draken sees the best in people and Hanma definitely appreciates Draken if you know what I mean
All Hanma needs is a little love and he's good guys (don't wanna call him easy, I mean, look at him, but throughout the manga he only has one person and that breaks my heart)
Mitsuya is also in a similar position as Draken
I will not let go of Hanma having a crush on Hanma and a relationship Hanma and Mikey could be possible!!!
I'm not delusional, please guys
I think Hanma would enjoy Mikey when he's good or bad because he pretty much subverts expectations
He's small but he gives off such intense vibes
He's a serious person when he needs to be but he's also incredibly childish
He's super strong but you wouldn't expect it from someone of Mikey's build
The darkness that lies underneath those blonde locks would appeal to Hanma soo much
And I think Mikey would like someone like Hanma who's carefree, silly, and strong and has also done some crappy things and won't judge Mikey for his darker thoughts (though he may encourage him to indulge in them, but every relationship has flaws! )
I mean, c'mon guys, join me, ship them!!!!
They both crave unconditional love and I think they would give it to each other
Would do shit like name a snake cat and ask people if they want to see his pet cat (can you imagine him doing that to Chifuyu, it's gold)
Was probably an only child but if he had siblings they were probably like golden children who are 20 years older then him
Hanma gives off accident baby vibes
Judgmentally unjudgmental
If you killed someone, he wouldn't judge you for killing someone, would probably have a few comments on how bad you are at killing people and ask if you need tips
One things that's stated with his character is that he likes/admires seniors and I'm going two ways with that
He either respects that they've lived for so long
Or he had a grandpa or some other old person treat him well when he was younger (probably a teacher or something)
Fan of cartoons and childish sorta shows/movies
Finds all the murders and bloody in adult stuff unrealistic (and he would know)
Can't cook but can bake
Unlike Chifuyu, who I think can cook not bake
You guys could be a power couple, all you need to do is accept the fact that he manipulated your friend into killing your other friend
Everyone makes mistakes
That's actually so sad, these headcanons make me wish that I could be his childhood friend or something and shower him with all the love he deserves
Kazutora probably forgave Hanma because of self-hatred stuff idk
They would make each other the worst friendship bracelets ever and unironically never take them off
Then they would kiss softly on the lips
This could be a thing. Someone please make it a thing.
Second friend Hanma makes in his entire life
Hates reading but has read an astonishing number of classic books (like guys, he gets bored quickly, I wholeheartedly believe that he has tried everything)
Athletic
Has lots of domestic thoughts because he craves for that familial connection
Would not advertise that though
Probably would openly mock it
Good with kids (because he had the mind of one)
Can also see him using his free time to scare kids at the playground
Loves being spoiled, not because he likes things but because he likes the care and love received from someone
Randomly spoils those he loves with things
Horribly touch starved
Would actually be so good in a relationship because he's very devout and loyal to the people he cares about
Conclusion:
Hanma deserves good things, and I need to give it to him

My attempt at making the curse makes sense
+ the time leap powers too because why not
Spoilers up to the final arc of Tokyo Revengers
We’ll discuss three different things. 1) How the curse works, 2) Why Sanzu was affected by it, 3) And why Takemichi succeeded to make it calm down.
Keep in mind that it’s my headcanons and that Wakui could one day give information that ruin everything i wrote. And you can of course have another view on it and/or not like my way of thinking !
Who, What, Where, When and Why
Shinichiro was the cursed one. The homeless man cursed Shinichiro, and it’s never revealed by him how he actually cursed him.
The curse went to Mikey – Why is it ? He’s the reason Shinichiro killed the homeless man. So, three different theories. 1 : it’s because of his death that Shinichiro kills, so without Mikey the curse doesn’t exist, 2 : he’s supposed to be dead but he’s not – a sort of karma ?, 3 : if the curse was meant to hurt Shinichiro, then making Mikey hurt and unable to stop hurting was definitely the way to go.
What’s the curse’s purpose anyway ? Why does it make Mikey act like that ?
The curse feeds on tragedy, the more tragedy, the more it grows, the more it grows, the more hungry it gets, the more it wants tragedy, the more it triggers tragedy. And by feeding on tragedy i mean all the negative feelings that go hand-in-hand with. Sadness, despair, helplessness, rage, regrets, guilt… It clings to someone who already has a tragic life and it worsens it. Mikey didn’t have a father and lost his mother, his life wasn’t all happy from the start ; Sanzu… We don’t know enough about the Akashi but he doesn’t have his mother, his father is always out working and his relationship with Takeomi is so, so bad ; Kazutora – who had never met Shinichiro – was the one to be affected by the curse and not Baji – who knew Shinichiro for a while so the ‘it affected everyone around him’ should’ve worked here – and Baji doesn’t have a typical family life either since he only has his mom, but his relationship with his mom is great, and it’s not the same as what Kazutora has to deal with at home.
And while we cannot say if i’m right ; the fact the curse grew with time is undeniable
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What do you mean you were ‘following Mikey as if you were in a trance’
this is why we cant have nice things
So. Sanzu.
It is revealed he only acted that way because he ‘was in a trance’ (→ the curse affected him). Not going to talk about how much it pissed me off when i read that. But why would he be affected by it? Emma wasn’t, Senju wasn’t, Takeomi, Wakasa & Benkei weren’t, grandpa Sano wasn’t, Baji burnt cars and threw punches at anyone who might look at him but that wasn’t the curse (final timeline 7 y/o Baji punching Takemichi) (it could still be, of course, but it doesn’t feel as violent as Mikey and Sanzu have it. Then again, he didn’t live long enough to tell ig), Inui and Draken weren’t either… What does Sanzu has, who is Sanzu for him to be affected by it ? Shinichiro’s trigger. He is tied to the time leap power and to the curse then. He was also the first victim of the curse, when it was still very small, and that might have given him a sort of immunity/protection which caused the curse not to directly harm him anymore. He’s here in Bonten when Mikey drove every other person close to him away. Twelve years, and Mikey didn’t kill him with his dark impulses whereas they appear soon after Takemichi talk to him.
Or it could be Mikey’s seemingly incapacity to harm anyone he knew before being cursed. He wouldn’t hurt Emma, wouldn’t hurt Baji, wouldn’t hurt Shinichiro, didn’t hurt Senju, hurt Sanzu once or twice. So the curse could not affect much/at all people Mikey knew before Shinichiro’s time leap.
Then again, Emma & Baji didn’t remain alive long enough to know if Mikey could’ve/would’ve hurt them.
Or. Sanzu was 'in a trance' because his job is to make the dark impulses grow. After all, he says he had waited for them when they finally show up. Maybe that's how the curse affects him – by forcing him to make Mikey act on them. By forcing him to preserve it. Or maybe it's all that I just wrote. Or maybe it's neither.
Edit:
Tumblr media
So. This is the official translation from what I understood.
Which change one thing: it's canon it's not because of the curse (or at least not only) that Sanzu is insane ☺ He just Is.
Takemichi’s power of friendship
Shinichiro dies on the day he let go of the power, on the day he gave it to Takemichi. It is said relatively often that Shinichiro was what held Mikey back from letting go of his dark impulses, hence, Takemichi snapped Mikey back to reality because he is the host of the time leaping power. But Mikey almost killed Takemichi thrice, and that’s when the distinction between him and Shinichiro happens. Mikey himself go to Takemichi to tell him to yell at him if he ever snapped like Shinichiro would have, but Takemichi isn’t Shinichiro – Takemichi isn’t his big brother whom he loves so much and whom loved him so much.
The curse knows it was born out of the time leaping power, that it wouldn’t exist if Shinichiro didn’t kill to gain the power. So when Takemichi stops Mikey from killing Kazutora, it goes away, when Takemichi says they’re friends, it goes away. Sure, it still pushes Mikey to shoot Takemichi, or sending Takemichi to the hospital and then stabbing him with a katana through the heart, but im trying my best to think of a reason that isnt ‘shonen spirit, friendship power or nothing’ at the end, it’s a curse meant to destroy everything Mikey holds dear, to render him incapable to be happy and it can go past the fact it’s its creator it is killing. Plus, Takemichi isn’t its creator, Shinichiro is. Hence, the curse rather not hurt the power that created it, but it isn’t against it, especially if the holder is not its creator. Edit: The curse is what killed Shinichiro at the end, because that’s what it’s job was - yet, it only did on the day he let go of the power, so he couldn’t be protected by it the way Takemichi is at the start of the story. The curse could’ve been confused since Takemichi had the power (and perhaps confused him with its creator) at first and then as the story went on, it realized he wasn’t.
This link between the time leap powers and the curse might also give me a reason why Mikey knew when Takemichi came back in the past. The same way Naoto can feel when Takemichi goes back to the future, chapter 2 : “When I shook hands with you 12 years ago, I could feel you inside past you disappear.”
Tumblr media
+ So about the ‘deathlike state’ in chapter 7 and how it never happened again...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The difference between Takemichi going back to the future this time and all the other times that follow is actually pretty simple : it’s his consciousness that goes back to the past, that we all agree of, it’s canon, and that’s it. When Takemichi goes back in the past and changes his past self’s life even so slightly, they don’t end up having the same kind of life or way of thinking.
By that I mean : when Takemichi went back to the past knowingly for the first time (and accidentally came back) he didn’t change anything. He still got his ass beat by Kiyomasa, he may have met Draken and Mikey but that isn’t enough to change his past self’s personality ; they’ll end up sharing the same and if they’re the same then there’s only one Takemichi. Whereas all the other times he went back from that point on, he has changed his past self’s life (fighting Kiyomasa, saving Draken, getting stab in the hand). Which means they won’t have the same life experience, which means they won’t be the same and won’t share their consciousness.
Because among the various things the last arc teaches us, there’s that :
Tumblr media
It’s not linear. Takemichi didn’t re-write the timeline. He created new ones. Alternate dimensions exist in TR. If they didn’t, the timeline would stop everytime a time leaper goes back. Just straight up cut reality and existence to replace it with other, either 100 % similar or completely different, stuffs. But Sanzu remembers days after Shinichiro’s death and time leap. Why only days ? What happened then ? I don’t wanna know. But it’s probably the same for Naoto. He remembers more of the other timeline that Takemichi does, because he doesn’t time leap with him – he stays in the dimension/timeline until Takemichi goes to a future he changed/created and then the Naoto from this newly-created future has the memories other-hims have plus his own.
And here for the question we don’t have an answer to… :
Where do the past-self of time leapers go ?
Do they go dormant ? Are they conscious and unable to control their body ? Do they have fuzzy memories of the time they’re not the one inhabiting their body ? Or do they not remember a thing ? Do they only have a vague understanding of time passing by like people in coma do ? If Takemichi and Mikey of the final timeline ever decide to go check on the future and leave their past (7 and 8 years old) self to deal with everything what would happen ? Would these children have grown up ? Or would they still have the same mentality ? How can you react to realizing it’s been years you haven’t been in control of your own body ? Surrounded by people you don’t know. Or maybe you do. But it wasn’t you. And if they never do, if Takemichi and Mikey continue living without bothering about the past and the future, never bothering to use the time leaping powers anymore, what would happen to those 7 and 8 years old them ? The time leaping powers allow you to be a parasite to your own body. It sounds awful.
It’s a bit different with the time triggers, or so i think because it seems awfully similar. The time triggers follow the time leapers which means their main source of memories are from the timeline they initially left, and the other memories from the other timelines become additional. Sanzu is more the Sanzu who lost Mikey than Sanzu who got scarred by him. WHICH. If you compare it to Naoto and Takemichi, makes it so, so interesting (at least for me) because it means, that even though OG timeline!Sanzu and Shinichiro didn’t shake hands, the fact from-OG timeline!Shinichiro shook hands with Sanzu which led to him remembering about the OG timeline, means that Naoto has his memories from when he died with Hinata in the very first timeline.
Time triggers get additional memories ; time leapers keep their own consciousness and don’t merge with their past self.
Which begs the question : what timeline would Mikey remember if him and Takemichi shook hands to go to the future ? Would it be the timeline Takemichi is from (no memories of Takemichi, Draken dying on 8/3, Kazutora and Baji (probably) both dying on Halloween…) or would it be all the timelines Takemichi went through ? Or since he also became a time leaper, he only has Kanto Manji memories ? And we can’t use Naoto or Sanzu as examples, Sanzu only shook Shinichiro’s hand once and Naoto shook Takemichi’s hand since Takemichi started to time leap ; their memories ‘updated’ at the same time, each time (final timeline aside, of course). So… So we don’t know. But Mikey’s core memories would be of Kanto Manji, and the other timelines would be additional. (or would his core memories be of Bonten ? That’s the first timeline he shook Takemichi’s hand in and the first timeline he acted as a time trigger. Idk man, it’s all so complicated and (purposely) unclear)
And it all comes to the same thing once again : Is it better if Mikey doesn’t remember those timelines (because a Mikey who has memories from : Kanto Manji, Bonten, Manila, and all the Bad Toman ones is not going to be a very stable Mikey. Not that he is with his Kanto Manji memories but stil.) or should Takemichi carry the role of the only one to remember ?

tw: manga spoilers. possibly a few swear words. this is supposed to be light though. don't worry, kids!
Tumblr media
THE INVINCIBLE MIKEY.
— mikey and his newly formed kanto manji gang definitely made the mistake of booking the wrong restaurant at first. he and sanzu had to wait outside while kokonoi and the rest went inside to broker a deal between three other gang leaders for territory among other... less than legal stock. it was more than awkward for both but especially for the invincible, feared, powerful, most individually well-known gangster in tokyo. unfortunately for him, sanzu found it hilarious watching his boss sulk like they were little kids again and shinichiro had just denied mikey a taiyaki before dinner.
— so you'd think after the tragic battle against the second generation toman, they'd learn their lesson. but the haitani brothers had forgotten their fearless leader's true age and booked a well-known high-rise restaurant in roppongi frequented by gangsters, politicians, and celebrities alike to work out a deal with some local politician. and once again, mikey and sanzu had to wait outside while kokonoi and the rest of kanto manji's executives went inside.
— maybe mikey smacked sanzu across the face for taking his teasing too far... sanzu may or may not have offered cute, pre-made party hats to mikey to wear on his head while they waited for koko and the rest to finish upstairs.

I will analyze this cover a bit just because im running out patience and im hoping for any clues about the haitani backstory cmon wakui if they're gonna be useless then the least we could have is a backstory
Tumblr media
Okay first of all the flower designs in their outfits
First, Ran's
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe that it's the Sophronitis which is a plant genus that is part of the Orchidaceae family (correct me if im wrong) and tbh i've had a bit hard time finding its symbolism but eventually i found this about all orchids : "the orchid has no specific symbolic meaning, but is associated with fertility and virility"
And honestly i found this a bit odd like what does this have to do with Ran ?? (Well, canon Ran atleast cuz it does work out very well with fanon fuckboy Ran) Maybe it doesn't really have that big of a meaning and it's just a random design ?? Probably, but i think it's somehow more of foreshadowing to Ran's canon charismatic nature. It's still debatable tho...
Second, Rindou's
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This time im about 90% sure this is the Gentiana scabra which is a species of flowering plant in the japanese Gentian family. And what made me sure of this is because Rindou's name meaning is literally Gentian so it can't be coincidence. (Im going on the right path hell YAH)
Its symbolism according to Wikipedia is justice and victory which fits perfectly into Rindou theme. Well, atleast we know about the victory part so far... im not so sure about the justice bit but it could be relevant into the backstory who knows...
Now there is another detail in the designs which is the skeletons but after some research i believe it isn't just any skeletons but inspired from this painting :
Tumblr media
Triptych of Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre, c. 1844, Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797–1861)
Ofc it's probably just reference to a famous painting but it could have some connection to the backstory (im just too desperate at this point) so this is what comes up in the historical context section in Wikipedia :
"The historical Princess Takiyasha was the daughter of the provincial warlord Taira no Masakado of Sōma, who tried to set up an "Eastern Court" in Shimōsa Province in competition with the emperor in Heian-kyō (modern Kyoto). That rebellion was put down in the year 939 and he was defeated, then decapitated. After his death, Princess Takiyasha continued living in the ruined shōen, or rural manor-house, of the Sōma clan, Masakado's former residence."
The only connection i could see is the rebellion, which is already obvious cuz... they are the haitanis. And could have something to do with their past-past as toddlers, i guess.
So at the end did i find any easter eggs in the cover?? Maybe. Was it useful ?? Also maybe. No one will ever know cuz wakui isn't planning on telling us anything about them.

Finished Tokyo Revengers, my feelings on it are complicated so this is getting a long review, First off before anything else that ending is pretty bad, somehow like 4 different people learned about/had the time powers in the last like 20 chapters for some reason. And yeah the ending was as bad as I’ve heard it was
This series isn’t all bad, in my mind it’s kinda like Jagaaaan in the sense that it’s pretty bad but it has some great parts. Those parts being Mikey and Draken, Draken just has an amazing design and he’s a cool guy not much else to say about him. And Mikey, he’s the only thing that kept me reading this, he’s the only character that got treated with the delicacy needed for characters in a good delinquent manga (at least that’s the word id choose there’s probably a better one). And also he’s kinda just like one of the only well written characters. The final praise I have for Tokyo Revengers, is the fact that it’s willing to kill characters.
Now for all of the bad stuff
First off just a few of the minor gripes I have, 1 these guys are all way too young. 2 the generations were super wacky just on a time scale wise. And I’m kinda reaching with 3 here but there’s a real lack of police here, especially since this takes place in 2007 a few years after some of the anti Bousouzoku laws were passed.
Now for my real problems with this series. One of my main gripes I had throughout reading it was the lack of buildup between and during arcs. Especially with the time travel stuff, it just felt like we were floating from plot point to plot point. Adding on to that, new characters just kept getting introduced right when they needed to serve a purpose, the most glaring example in my memory being Mucho? I think his name was, the 5th captain just shows up to kidnap Takemichi to build more drama for kisaki.
Speaking of kisaki, he did pretty well as a villain but when you think about him he’s kinda a mess story wise, we get no real driver for why he wants to ruin Manji until there’s that bs about him proposing to hina. And like apparently past him knows about that even if he isn’t a leaper. And like I got invested in his scheming and how he kept messing stuff up in the future and masterminding stuff. But like most of the things in this series,What’s the fucking point.
Tokyo revengers had legit potential, but it’s hampered by the fact that Wakui is just bad at writing. There’s even more stuff I could complain about but I’ve made my statement and criticisms clear. My rating for it is a 3-4/10

So apparently i've returned to yell about the ending of Tokyo Revengers...
(Warnings: Spoilers and a sligtly less mad Axolotl below the cut)
The one thing that annoys me most about this ending, is the fact that it could have been great, should have been great, but no, wakui messed it up royaly, and here's why in my humble dumbass opinion:
Yes, i'm still happy that they got an happy ending, BUT, the one thing that bothers me most in this, is the whole errasure of trauma that happened.
I'm sorry but hOW EXACTLY DO YOU EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THAT TWO TWELVE YEARS OLD FIXED EVERYONE'S ISSUES, DEFECTIVE FAMILLIES AND MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEM, HOW THE FUCK???
I might actually believe the whole Kazutora stuff (in the extend that if Shin didn't die, then obviously his mental health would be greatly improved or clearly did not spiral down as it had before) and so the Baji not dying stuff as well, but no i will NOT accept any fixing of broken families, that is NOT something two kids who're not even part of them can do, this DOES NOT happen in real life. And okay, sure Tokrev asks you a lot of the time to suspend credibility (or whatever it's called in english, sorry i'm a mess) like no, Chifuyu and Mitsuya technicaly shouldn't be alive in a universe where half of the Sanos can get one shot by blunt force head trauma. But fine, i'll buy it.
I won't buy the whole happy bullshit though, because a real happy ending in Tokrev should have been these kids learning how to be happy and functional again after all the hurt, not wakui errasing all wrong that ever happened (i will never forgive him for making Kokonupi basically canon, having them finally come clean to one another, ready to finally have a healthy relationship and then pull this cheap trick and they're not even toghether in the happy ending, what the fuck)
What i also won't buy, is Mikey.
Second biggest problem to me, the entire last few chapters (basically the entire final battle arc after the Mikey/Takemichi faceoff and all of Shin's fucking flashbacks, who by the way, don't make any fucking sense but that's for a whole different issue)
Mikey snapped, completely, so no, i don't give a fuck about any of this, it makes no sense to me that simply going back in time is sufficient to fix his entire FUCKING STATE OF MIND.
We honestly know nothing of time travel, but as far as i gathered, Takemichi's mind, and all his difficulties stayed the same as his adult self when he went back in time. So why doesn't Mikey kept all his issues? Why does traveling back to 1998 somehow fixes everything?
So here's how i believe the time travel should have realisticaly went:
–Takemichi goes back in time alone (if Mikey follows it would be a mess because he's just the same as he was in 2008 and i don't believe that Takemichi's death was a miracle healing (by the way Mikey went completely nuts by the end of Tokrev and i don't mean his sanity, there was literally no need for the fucking final battle execpt the fact that Draken was dead and even then fuck the whole concept of his dark impulses that is absolute bullshit)) he tries to fix things with now the insight of all that happened and maybe prevents:
•Shinichiro's death because of the obvious
•Baji's death as well (should have been prevented in the first place, unfortunately Takemichi is a moron and forgot the whole Kazutora is gonna kill Baji plot two seconds in the Bloody Halloween battle for some reason...)
•Maybe the whole Black Dragon's arc goes even more smoothly
•If he befriends Kisaki the whole killing Hinata and ruining Mikey's life thing could be avoided, and by extention most deaths and issues of the actual entire fucking story (which is why i think it feels like such a cheap ending too, like what was the point of all this suffering if it could all be fixed in less than one chapter?)
–What he can't fix though is the fire (even if he somehow could help save Akane, the fire would still happen because man doens't have godlike powers and can't control unatural dissasters) as well as evey disfunctional relationship there is
–Even if the whole smile Haruchiyo doesn't happen for some reason, the Akashis will have to deal with their mess on their own, a kid can only do so much
–Same for the Shibas and even the Sanos (i believe it would still get to be better for Izana though because if Kisaki isn't on a world domination incel-induced trip and Shin isn't dead then there is no reason for the whole Tenjiku arc to happen the way it did)
–And last but not least, fuck Takehina, in this timeline she ends up with Kisaki because he learns how to actually asks someone on a date (sorry Hankisa stans)
(a spiteful part of me almost wish the story ended at Takemichi's death, that would have made more fucking sense)
Which brings me to my third point, fuck Takehina.
This ship is so fucking toxic (yes more than Kokonupi could ever be, i'm serious) and the age difference in the past is the least of its problems, trust me
First of all, the reason Hinata kept dying most likely was because she wouldn't get over a guy who dumped her twelve years ago and was stuck on him (at least after Takemichi went back in time, for all we know the original reason of her death could not even be related to Toman, especially Kisaki) and we even see Kisaki asking her in marriage (in the Tenjiku arc i believe) but girl still wants Takemichi
And it wouldn't be an issue in itself if she wasn't so stuck on the wrong Takemichi (like everyone else, in a way, you could argue) as in, future Takemichi.
She doens't give a shit about past Takemichi (who by the way is a terrible boyfriend so i can't blame her for that part) but she saw how he could actualy become, and then proceeded to spend twelve fucking years waiting for that guy. Not. Healthy.
Hinata started as a strong character, and then became stuck on one guy, completely throwing away her growth, making her stagnate as a person and loose her independence. And i don't think that's what love should be like.
So Takemichi isn't healthy for Hinata, he's basically the reason she kept dying. What about Hinata for Takemichi you might ask.
Well i don't think Takemichi actually gives a fuck about her (at least not in a romantic way)
I don't know if it's just that wakui can't write romance or that he really meant it this way but i have a similar issue with Drakema. There is no alchemy between these two and that is a huge problem considering they were intended as a romantic pairing. And such a shame really because it could have been a cute couple, and you can tell Draken genuienely cares for Emma, but god, where are the romantic feels?
Like, you might not agree with this (and i honeslty don't give a damn cause they are my favorite ship, yes i'm aware i'm problematic don't worry) but to me there is more alchemy between Draken and Mikey than Draken and Emma! Or even Draken and Mitsuya! I find it crazy that the only two canon straight ships are so bland and tasteless or even borderline toxic (because toxic doesn't just mean physical or mental abuse, it can also mean stopping the other from evolving and being their best version instead of ecouraging them to be better and being a good influnence on them) like take any not canon ship for example, like Mitsuya and Hakkai.
There are some elements that can be toxic (mostly Hakkai's endless admiration for Mitsuya who could turn out to be a problem i think) but these elements are actually pointed out in the story, as potentialy bad for their relationship (during the church fight Mitsuya acknowledges that his expectations of Hakkai might have put unnecessary pressure on him) and they actually evolve and progress individually, become more independent of the other (at least that's the impression this gave me) and grow together as well
Drakema only shows through character dialogue like ninety percent of the time (as in characters talking about how much they love each other but they almost never have any romantic interraction) and maybe i'm being of bad faith with this one because it might be mostly due to the fact that Draken is an idiot who never confesses and Emma is cleary shown multiple times to love him (though i'm still unconvinced about Draken, a lot of this feels like JK saying Dumbledore is gay and then people trying to grasp at strands only to realize there ins't gay Dumbledore in story, thank u and fuck off JK)
So back to Takehina (sorry for the sidetracking, my mind is a fucking maze and this is me trying to practice selfcontrol) worse than Drakema who's just bland to me, the ship is also so fucking problematic to me, like people yell all the time about the Akane thing, but how about that gal who is willing to wait twelve fucking years because this isn't the right Takemichi, what about tHAT GAL HUH?
And what about the guy who agrees to a fucking weddding but actually has feelings for another dude (because as much as Maitake is also so fucking problematic at least i can see why people ship it, there is the fucking alchemy Takehina apparently ate or something)
Also, let's talk about Shinichiro for like two seconds here. What. The. Actual. Fuck?
I know we basically knew nothing of him and that made it unfortunatelly very easy for wakui to come up with this mess that is Shin being a time traveler (okay, not a super bad idea, where you going with this?) Mikey having an accident (oh, more angst, sure feed me some) and then it goes to hell.
The whole old man thing (not really in character for what we knew of Shin, damn) Mikey's dark impulses as a form of punishment (good idea terrible execution in the way it was lost among alk the chaos of the last twenty/thirty chaps) Shin not giving a fuck about Haru murdering people (honorbale mention, because ableism is despicable, but Haru plz don't slash people with ur katana okay?) and probably the biggest crap, Shin passing down his power to Takemichi (like, it makes no sense in story because Shin was never at the scen at that time, and also why would u do that Shin? Why? He's just a kid, didn't u already traumatize Haru enough with ur bullshit?)
Like now i 100% blame Shin for everything that when wrong with Haru, like how is a kid supposed to be fine with all of this (i can only see two reasons for Haru to have known about the time traveling bullshit and that's either Shin telling him everything or him actually being og timeline Haru, in either cases, his head is screwed and that's Shin's fault)
I will share a maybe unpopular opinion right here, but hear me out first. I would have almost (and i can't stress this almost enough) prefered Shin to be revealed as the bad guy, than this entire flashback debacle and this fucking ending.
In all honesty, the final battle wasn't so bad (like the Kokonui reunion was so good, maybe the only good thing about it) but Mikey has been feeling so out of character for the entire final arc, that it kinda made no sense after the whole flashback thing started anymore (which is why, again, fuck traveling back to 1998 fixing Mikey's entire life AND mental health issues, fuck this so much)
So yeah, fuck the Takehina wedding, fuck this so called happy ending and fuck no Kokonupi content (which makes no sense, even if the fire didn't happen, they should still be close, even closer since the entire Akane situation is the reason the drifted away!! Goddamnit!) and fuck Mikey and Shin not making any sense for the entire final battle!
All in all, the concept for the ending could have worked, if wakui just had made an actual effort with this. Inupi isn't Inupi without his burn. Kazutora ins't Kazutora without his tiger tattoo. Haruchiyo isn't Haruchiyo without his scars (even though i'm glad he doesn't get them because fuck Mikey for this so much). This somehow feels disrespectful for the characters to take away all the trama like this (and i mean the ones that happened before 2005, i very much love that my fanged man is alive, that is one of the only good things about this ending really (and also Kakucho, but he should have never died in the firt place))
I think the timing with this was also an issue, one chapter before the end and everything is solved felt very forced. And it's weird because i know stories with this kind of miracle ending sometimes work, but they usually make the entire situation return to what it was like in the begining, whereas here, everything is infinetly better than it was at the start of the story and less than one chapter before it was a total mess. This was a terrible deux ex machina (more importantly, where the fuck was Takeomi, and why couln't he be the deus ex machina instead, that would have been infinitely more funny if nothing else)
Once again, i believe wakui should have ended his manga after the Tenjiku arc, or at least with the Bonten one, or just generaly, fuck the final arc.
I still persist in saying that people have made better fics with a similar concept, or even entire rewritings, overall saying fuck the bonten/final arc and going wild with it, and it actually worked!! This though, didn't, and i think there was many reason why; what i ranted i mean talked about here were just some of the things that annoyed me with the ending or that i felt were problematic to the story and weren't resolved at all even in this so called good ending (like, as much as i bitched about Takehina, i would be less salty about it if their relationship had developed into something more healthy, and also not a romantic one as well!! fuck the Takehina wedding seriously)
Well, i think i'm done here, don't forget that this is only ever my own opinion, based on my own interpretation of the story (i still ptetend that the final arc never happened because the end of it messed with so much theories and interpretations, that is almost funny in itself) and you're allowed to disagree with me (like i love cheese but i won't force feed people fourme de Montbrison just because i like it) just like i might disagree with you. I find it stupid to fight about a manga when there are other topics that are much more important and significant to daily life with opposing opinions that could use actual arguing to make things better (because actions are nice but it starts with talking about it)
I went a little serious here, but that's because i'm aware that what i just did (i.e. this entire post) is a huge waste of my time (it's okay it's the night and i have nothing else to do) and i could maybe spend it talking about more serious and impactful topics than the end of bloody Tokyo Revengers. But that will be for a day when i feel like actually getting defensive about something (i won't force feed you cheese but if you asume that i'm a girl, i will scream behid my computer/phone like a madman)
Have a nice day/night/evening, and stay safe– Mika

so i know i asked you all if i should post about the ending but in the end I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF, I'M SORRY, tr ending discussion under the cut
as a summary of my previous thoughts on the ending... my number one problem with it has always been the lack of an explanation for how mikey/takemichi managed to leap back in time together. to me, this makes it seem like they just got lucky that the leap worked at all, which ruins the theme of "you shouldn't take on your burdens alone/rely on your friends a little."
the reason it ruins it is because it comes across as like... mikey was right to push everyone away, because when he finally gave into his impulses and trusted takemichi like he told him to, he LITERALLY KILLED TAKEMICHI. and it was seemingly just luck that they both managed to go back??
i have, however, had thoughts since then which make the ending work a bit more for me personally. mostly, that the reason the curse was broken/they were able to go back was still ultimately a direct result of mikey deciding to trust takemichi/breaking the mindset of "i have to take everything on alone." specifically, in part because he trusted takemichi to save him and "gave into" the dark impulses, but mostly because in the moment takemichi was dying, he begged him to come back. basically he was asking takemichi for help; asking him to prove his beliefs right - that mikey should and can rely on others, and that it's okay to do so. basically i'm trying to help the ending to make thematic sense (to me), is the idea.
now... that's interpretation of the final leap is kind of a stretch. and not really stated or implied in canon, unfortunately. BUT i do think there's some symbolism to support it, like the heavy emphasis placed on mikey's tears that are implied to play a reason in why the leap worked (at least that's what it looked like to me??). mikey has been set up as a character who believes that crying is weakness, so seeing him openly cry represents the shedding of that belief/being willing to ask for help.
but anyway i've said all this before, so what are my new thoughts? well, not much tbh WHOOPS but in the past, i interpreted the dark impulses as being a result of not the curse on shinichiro/karma directly - the punishment for THAT was shinichiro's death at kazutora's hands. instead, mikey's DI are more a circumstantial result of him having been dead in the previous timeline.
and also in the past, i said that the DI appear due to his desire to not rely on others, and are therefore broken when he admits he needs help. i still hold to that, but now i also really like the idea of like... they also come about as a result of him believing he doesn't deserve to be saved, & that he can't be saved?? and therefore it's not just him admitting he needs help that breaks the curse - but also him admitting that he wants to be saved at all. maybe even coming to believe that he deserves it, or at least that he wants a future with everyone.
after all, he DID technically manage to save everyone (but himself) in the bonten timeline. it's not just that he needs help because he can't save everyone by himself. it's also that he needs help so that he can save himself, too, and that he deserves to be a part of that happy future he created for everyone as well.
does that... make sense?? at all?? lmao i feel like it's a meaningful distinction a bit, but idk if i phrased it in a way that makes that clear or that is indeed coherent at all. regardless though. those are my ending headcanons. but god i wish wakui implied all this a little more than what we got KSJFHDSKF

caught up on tr s2 and have some thoughts on the good, the bad, and the ugly. spoilers for both anime & manga...
the good
this is definitely my favorite arc in the story, and it's fascinating to watch with the knowledge of where the story is going. it cheapens some things, but i still think it is holding up.
because the shibas are just amazing! i think character motivation might be wakui's biggest weakness (more on that later pft) and the shibas have the most well thought through motivations, tons of pathos, tons of payoff. love them.
yuzuha's voice actress! i wrote husky-voiced yuzuha before this season came out! i knew it i knew it i knew it
also the kick heard round the world! in a story filled with out of nowhere high kicks, yuzuha's is the best.
appreciating how violent these kids are, even the ones that i think of as sweethearts. chifuyu did not hesitate to break that bottle and take it to kisaki's throat. insane! kokonoi and inupi are feral in their intro scene. koko especially is so unpredictable, so slimy, so dangerous, like. it's making me want to write him lol
EVERYTHING about the taiju/mitsuya sit down is just incredible. what esp blows my mind is how taiju doesn't out hakkai when mitsuya wrongly thinks hakkai protects yuzuha. he laughs, yes, but he goes along with it. because hakkai in that moment must be just utterly humiliated to realize how he doesn't live up to the ideals mitsuya instilled in him. insane stuff. there should be more shiba household terror fic out there because their dynamic is so rich with awfulness. that said, fuck a taiju redemption arc. no one needed a taiju fucking redemption arc.
i forget that kisaki was actually a great villain! until they give you his motivations - bleh bleh bleh - he's actually so scary! he's always several steps ahead, he is good at setting traps and escaping them, he is charismatic in a strange way. he's a good villain. (and honestly, i don't even mind that he's an incel. i mind that he's an elementary school incel. if wakui had just written kisaki as staying friends with hina over the years, it would have drastically improved it. but alas. he is ruined for me forever)
i also forgot how deep hanma's voice is. that's it. that's the note.
the bad
the gag with chifuyu's "plan a and plan b" made my stomach turn. i can't stand watching people humiliate themselves.
takemichi revealing everything to chifuyu in the manga is a great moment, but i think it is spoiled a bit in happening in ep 3 of the anime because it's been a while since we have seen the bond between takemichi and chifuyu between seasons, so it just feels too sudden idk
hina's dad would have been a lot more convincing if he didn't open his speech with how he's basically an absentee parent that never sees his kids. he's not even a good dad!
really wish hina was a character and not just a prop while we're on the subject. the idea that this boy broke up with her in middle school, and she just pined after him into her mid-20s??? is she a femcel to kisaki's incel? what is this??? i know it's passe to point this out, but they really should have made them high schoolers. would have made moments like this a little more reasonable.
i request more mikey. and i know i'm not getting it for a few more eps but god.
the ugly
i know that you can't think too deeply about this story and how takemichi is 26 or it makes everything happening a) insanely creepy re: Hina and b) insanely cringy re: why is he so impressed by the company of these middle schoolers??? like, i know. suspend your disbelief and go with it. but the show keeps reminding me! they keep dropping lines about it as a joke and it's harshing my vibes.
also, takemichi is the most pathetic protagonist of all time, and it's worse in the anime than the manga because you can't read past it fast. watching those moments stretch out in the anime is agony. he keeps being outsmarted by children. CHILDREN! he jumps back to the past and his immediate priority is beating a child at bowling! he sees "bd" on a rival gang's jacket and wonders 'what does that stand for' a mere 30 seconds after thinking about the Black Dragons! i get that he's meant to be a loser, but why also make him this insufferably stupid???? (i don't even hate takemichi. i just think the anime is making it tough.)

What do you think about Kakucho's relationship with Takemichi? We didn't say a lot, and it's a shame =(
Tumblr media
I hope it’s okay to combine these two asks because it’s about the same topic!
KakuMichi (I’m using this shipname in the platonic sense here) is ruining me!! Not their friendship itself, but what it impiles about Kakucho. On one hand, I adore that Kakucho gets to be himself when Takemichi’s around, but when I sit down to think about it, it made me realise that Kakucho’s life is even sadder / more tragic than it is...? 🫠
Nonetheless, all things considered I do enjoy KakuMichi (even though I sometimes think it is kinda played to glorify Takemichi’s shounen-protag-influence. NO hate to Takemichi here!)
Again, incoherent rant ahead because it’s about Kakucho. Slight spoilers for the Final Arc too (up till 255).
Throughout his life, even after his tragic accident, Kakucho’s been holding Takemichi in high regard (if not one of the highest). Even when his allegiance is with other gangs / people, he respects Takemichi a great deal.
During the Tenjiku Arc, Kakucho immediately trusted Takemichi with the favour of stopping Kisaki / saving Izana, even though they’ve JUST been reunited (since they last saw each other at 7-8 years old). I suppose Kakucho’s heard about Toman and Takemichi’s feats before that, which probably assured him that Takemichi is still the same ‘hero’ he was when they were kids, but still, it’s got to take a lot of faith to believe that your childhood friend (who you haven’t seen in 6-ish years) is capable of saving your most important person.
During the Three Deities Arc, Kakucho was adamant about recruiting Takemichi for Rokuhara Tandai. At this point, he’s lost Izana, the purpose of his life, and coerced into serving a tyrant who he probably really disliked / disagreed with. I think the only thing he was hopeful about after Tenjiku was fighting alongside or being with Takemichi.
During the KanToMan Fight, Kakucho was reluctant to go against Takemichi and expressed that he wasn’t fighting for Mikey but Takemichi (in the sense that he’s valuing the fight above Mikey’s agenda). He also readily trusted Takemichi’s words about his vision / Sanzu’s plan to kill everyone, which would’ve sounded totally bonkers. He also had no hesitation nor questions about forming an alliance with Takemichi lmao.
We weren’t shown how close KakuMichi were in their childhood (i.e. at the level of besties, schoolmates or simply playmates), but they at least agreed with each other’s views and played a lot together. Nonetheless, they hung out enough for Kakucho to believe in Takemichi’s goodness, which he sustains throughout his life. (Like c’mon Kaku, what if Takemichi grew up to be a total scumbag? People change and you were KIDS. Even you acknowledged this!!)
It’s bittersweet because it means that his relationship with Takemichi is one of the few positive things in his life, or that Takemichi is the only person who Kakucho can entrust himself to.
Even after meeting many people and cycling through two gangs, Kakucho can only place his hopes in someone who he rarely sees / keeps in contact with (I’m assuming this because we don’t see them interacting outside of gang clashes). Sure, he’s hung out a lot with the S-62, but he probably didn’t agree with their ways and morals. Perhaps he cared for them and had good times with them, but I’m not sure if they were ever as important to him. It really seemed that since Izana’s death, the only time that Kakucho’s been happy or enjoying himself is when he’s fighting Takemichi at the train tracks.
Like, I’m glad that Kakucho has such a person in Takemichi, but sad because it means he hasn’t really met many good people in his life...
(On this note: Post-Tenjiku Kakucho reminds me of a rōnin, or a samurai who’s lost his master and is wandering the lands with nowhere to belong to. Idk if Wakui had this thought in mind when designing Kakucho, but it certainly evokes such a thought!)
Anyhow, I feel that KakuMichi’s friendship is special and precious in the sense that they are bosom friends who understand one another, but they also accept that they’ve got their own lives to lead and are thus moving forwards in parallel. You know what I mean? This is also bittersweet in its own way.
AND THE SECOND ANON BROUGHT UP A GOOD POINT! How was Kakucho feeling when Takemichi was beaten half to death by Mikey right in front of him?! I’m hoping that Kakucho was still knocked out cold when it happened, to save him from all the emotional turmoil.
But if he was already conscious then, I imagine that Kakucho’s first reaction would be shock (like everyone else), but mostly at Mikey’s savagery and the fact that South could be beaten and killed. Like what you said, he must’ve also felt helpless and was probably praying that someone would stop Mikey from killing Takemichi (because he physically couldn’t). Yet at the same time, I think he might’ve a gut feeling that it’s not the end of Takemichi, like a ‘you won’t die in a place like this, not like that’ kinda thing, y’know? Which probably explains why his priorities are about South when he’s fleeing the scene with Ran instead of Takemichi.
All this talk about KakuMichi’s got me wondering... WHAT ABOUT KAKUMICHI IN THE FUTURE?! How would their relationship be like? I’m speaking about all timelines btw, from the original TL where Takemichi’s a loser, all the way to Bonten. Takemichi probably didn’t know about Kakucho’s membership in Bonten considering how veiled in secrecy Bonten was. Did he think about looking Kakucho up? Did he think about inviting him to his wedding? Did Kakucho still think of Takemichi as his hero, even after becoming Number 3 in Japan’s worst criminal organization? Would Kakucho have been disappointed if he ran into Takemichi in his loser timeline?
I think if I go any further I’ll turn delirious, so I’m just gonna end this post with all these questions, alright? 🫠

So I've mostly just been going through all stages of grief over and over again but you pointing out the chapter name even just for that joke genuinely makes me worried about the next chapters like
So this is the tipping point? For what? For who?
Considering what's happened so far and in this chapter I'd expect Takemichi and. I'm worried. I'm really really worried
on top of everything else he already had to go through he now had two friends p much sacrifice themselves for him and die in front of him within quite a short period of time huh. Can't be good for your mental state (ik it sure isn't for mine!! Wakui i just want to talk!!!!!)
Yeah I think it would most likely be Takemichi's tipping point too. Like he just probably lost Kakucho one of his oldest friends. I'm generally not sure how he's gonna react to this, he was kind of in shock when Draken died but I get the feeling he'll be more angry/determined this time.
Tumblr media
Which begs the question what will he do?
The only other person I can see this referring to is Sanzu maybe, after all they did just ruin his plans to mass murder everyone. He must be pretty angry right now. I'm not entirely sure how he can get any worse then trying to kill everyone with a train but it's Sanzu I'm sure he'll find a way.

Ken Wakui could have created healthy, mentally stable characters honestly, ones that would communicate with each other easily but he chose the most toxic of them all.
So what ? You gonna tell me I'm wrong ?
He chose to create Mikey, who clearly has that soul crushing overwhelming guilt, the one that makes him think he doesn't even deserve to live, that everyone always ends up dying or wanting to kill him. And instead of coming to you, and having a decent conversation with you about his secret anxiety, that guy would just manipulate you until you're none but a puppet on his string.
-" You're my fucking Achilles heel, 'kay ? Tell me how the hell am I supposed to let m'baby go out without me ?"
The scars of falling in his lures wouldn't even be visible for you, as he brings you closer to him and holds you like there's no tomorrow, far away from anyone's eyes, he was still him, Manjiro.
-" I know I'm fucked up, but you'll stay, hm ?"
-" You'll stay with ya man, wontcha, love ?"
You gonna tell me I'm wrong?
He created Rindou, who feels like the strongest, the smartest, and anything else until Ran's in the equation. Don't get me wrong, he loves his brother from the bottom of his heart, yet alongside all that love and admiration, he had never felt... Enough.
Ran's flirty nature around you would get to him, and instead of coming to you and talking about his insecurities like a big strong man, this guy would just have you understand how much you need him.
-" Rin', please, please, please... " You whine, hands on his broad shoulders as you tried to ride his length, whilst he has his arms behind his head and watched you wearily.
-" Uh uh, baby, your man's not gonna help ya. Wanna see how this tight lil pussy can take my cock, show me, please ?"
And though his erection would be painfully hard, watching tears gathering in your lashes line so beautifully as you make a mess of yourself on him, he would smirk slyly, waiting until you collapse on him and beg him to fucking ruin you.
-" See? Who's gonna fuck you like me ?" He has you in a mating press, slamming his cock deep inside you until he has you crying his name. " No one's gonna treat my princess better than I can. Shit, babe, easy o'mme " he hisses, grinning discreetly with how your walls wrapped him in.
I'm deadly serious, these men are the most fucked up, don't even get me started with SANZU FUCKING HARUCHIYO.
Sanzu deserves a whole psychology book of his own, but a whole new pathology would be created the day he meets you. Yes at first he wouldn't even glance your way twice, too busy with Mikey anyway. But just the way you randomly smile whenever his eyes cross yours, and didn't even flinched the first time seeing him without a mask, just how you rushed to ask about him seeing some blood ( that wasn't even his ) on his shirt... That's a game changer.
Indeed because no one ever truly cared about him, not even his own family, so when you, a perfect stranger whom eyes shine with admiration whenever he walks in the room, show up in his life...
-" Haru, that's folly and you know it. " You argue, your wrists starting to hurt from all the rubbing against the ties . And you swore at some time, you've seen some genuine humanity flicker behind his blueish hues, one that was soon replaced by something more animalistic once he presses his forehead against yours.
-" I know, babes, I know... " His voice came in a hoarse whisper, making you swallow as his other hand roam higher up your bare thigh. "But I told you. Talk about that out of town job once again and I'll have ya tied to my bed, haven't I now ?"
Contrary to what you would think, his touches and kisses on your skin are feathery, light, pressing open mouth kisses on the skin between your thighs.
-" Shhh, easy, easy... swear I'm gonna take good care 'f my pretty girl, y'trust me ? Why the hell would i hurt the best fucking thing to ever happen t'me ?"
I could go like this all night, but I have to get up early tomorrow. If I need to end up on a quick note, I'll talk about Draken.
Draken and his insecurity of not being good enough, of losing you like he did to Emma. Understand, you're so nice, so smart and kind, so pretty, and what does he has for himself, if not sharp edges, rough manners and inappropriate actions ?
But Draken loves you, and he truly never felt that way, never had a girl, or anyone else steal his mind from gang fights and motorcycles like you do, but you do. And his ways are... Controversial.
-" Ain't ya gonna take all of me, pretty ?"
He gives slow, deep thrusts though he's only dying to fasten that pace, but he can't have you scared of his own strength, not yet.
His hands gently apply deep pressing on your waist, whilst his kisses lingering on your neck make you fall deep in his games.
-" I... " You hesitate, and he knows that, but as soon as he starts slowing down his pace a little too much, he has you crying for him. " Yes ! Yes, Ken, gotta take it... Gonna take your kids !"
There, he has you exactly where he wants you.
-" What a good girl I found myself, ain't ya ? Look at this pretty lil pussy tryna take all of my fucking cum, you gonna make me a daddy ? Stay with me whatever, yeah baby ?"
Yes, nothing better than breeding to make sure you would never leave him, right ?
Tsk, and people think these guys are healthy lol.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing.

This might be late because tr has already ended, but what do you think should the ending have added in terms of loose ends and in what part should have ended? I don’t remember if you had any thoughts on the ending and I’m sorry if this is super long!! ❤️
AH yeah i already spoke abt this when it ended but idm going over it again
ahem
so i liked the ending a lot, just hated how it was executed. there was so much wasted potential there and im not mad because i know it wasn't just lazy sloppy writing, wakui was on a time limit with shonen jump apparently and had to rush it so i 100% get it and im not mad because of that
but it is a little disappointing having hearing all these cool theories about hanma and the haitanis and the whole reaper and pierriot shit with shuji and sanzu. it was such a good fucking theory and it almost feels canon. i felt like those theories set the bar so high for me so for the ending to be that simple instead lowkey just ruined it for me
i also hate how shuji did all that cuz he was 'bored' like its funny and stuff but i hope he had a bigger role and still hope he does. like i still dont beleieve he had no set purpose in the story aside from just comic relif yk? he was so shady and it wouldve made so much sense if he was the leaper, and even if he wasnt a leaper, he could've still had a role in it
and i hate how the side characters are so cool yet we dont know shit about them. especially the haitanis and kakucho. the most we know about them is so short and brief statements and i feel like there is no canon them. its all fanon versions we all created using small statements and facts from their sheets to create a version of them inside our heads
like before the character sheet, the way we viewed ran was WAY different to how he actually is, just a lazy ass mf that sleeps all day lmfao
and though i hate takeomi, i wanted to know more about him story wise like what was the final thing that set haruchiyo off to the point he abanonded them, changed his name and went to mikey instead. and where was he staying during all that? who was he living with? mucho? did he live alone? how did takeomi get that scar? we know now because of the recent charcater book but its not enough infomation
like if all this stuff was included in the main plot of the story, the manga wouldve been so much better and more inclusive to the side charcters
even shion. i dont care abt him at all but i wanna know his backstory. are his parents alive? does he have siblings? are the haitanis parents alive? who were kakuchos parents and whats that mans birthday like
theres so many questions and i dont know shit abt half the characters that aren't the main group and it rlly feels like wasted potential
but i understand the circumstances that wakui was put through so im not that upset about it but i really am hoping and praying he realises smaller stories about different charcters and there full backstories, how they became delinquents, how they went to juvie, how they found juvie, any small intersting things that happened to them that make them more of an actual character rather than just a side character with bits of info thrown at us
