Talent can’t be Taught,But can it can be awakened - @wallacestegner
After adjudicating the Mr. Ideal Uganda competitions successfully in July 2016, I went on to sign in Usher Shubu, who had emerged as the victor of the first ever male pageant in this part of Africa.
Manuela Usher Shubu @shubufitness set off on his quest without looking back, setting records as one of the few male models to have crafted and changed the lives of numerous individuals with his full-body Bomber fitness Initiative.
People of all ages, including the elderly and the young, are now featured on the regular program.
Usher serves as a perfect illustration of what I often remind the individuals I manage: Consistency is the fruit of the tree of success. You will become better at something and feel more fulfilled if you consistently perform it well and with a purpose in mind.
He continues to hold his position as one of Africa's top certified fitness trainers in Africa. It’s always nice having you around Usher. Shubu

Just finished this very well written, captivating, very American, not uncontroversial Pulitzer Price winning book by Wallace Stegner about the marriage and life of two very different people and their circle of family, friends, colleagues, and others in the years after the Civil War in the American West, intermingled with how their grandson is coping with his own environment while he tries to write their story. And even though that writing takes place 50 years ago (and relates a story 100 years earlier), there’s still much to recognize and contemplate about humans, their characters, convictions, passions, and behavior. #wallacestegner #angleofrepose (at Manhattan, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm7mBuupvCm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I had never heard of Wallace Stegner before, but this short, partly autobiographical novel of his (one of his last works, published in 1987) is really an extraordinary account of the life, love, and friendship of two couples and how their lives and relationship evolved from the late 1930s until the death of one of the main characters in the 1970s. Taking place in two states we just visited ((Wisconsin and Vermont) it is a moving, mature, and wise story with many valuable, insightful observations. Definitely worth reading #wallacestegner #crossingtosafety https://www.instagram.com/p/Ci_dkVTDbtU/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Writing Tip Day 290👇👇 “Ideas, of course, have a place in fiction, and any writer of fiction needs a mind. But ideas are not the best subject matter for fiction. They do not dramatize well. They are, rather, a by-product, something the reader himself is led to formulate after watching the story unfold. The ideas, the generalizations, ought to be implicit in the selection and arrangement of the people and places and actions. They ought to haunt a piece of fiction as a ghost flits past an attic window after dark.” ― Wallace Stegner . . . . #writingtipday290 #writingadvice #writingtools #writingtip  #writinglessons #novelist  #novelhelp #writingnovels #writingstories #yaauther #wallacestegner #ideas #writerlife #quotes #inspirationalquotes  #writersofinstagram #writersofig  #amwriting #amediting #authorlife #indieauthors  #nanowrimo #ilovewriting  #writerscorner #writersofinsta #writerscommunity #poetry #yalit #yabooks #poetofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BpGxdj3B8Q-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=13p1hgm4koleb

My Year of the Book - Day 71: A.B. “Bud” Guthrie may not be a household name today, but his influence on multiple generations of western writers can’t be overstated. His stories did not romanticize the West, and his characters were not always heroic or even likable. He won the 1947 Pulitzer Prize for his novel, “The Big Sky,” a book about fur hunters and free trappers in Montana’s Big Sky Country. He began it after winning a Nieman Fellowship to Harvard, and finished while on the faculty at the now famous Bread Loaf Writers Conference in Vermont. The novel was a huge commercial success as well, and he followed it two years later with “The Way West” (1949). Both were made into big studio films, the first starring Kirk Douglas and Dewey Martin, and the latter with Douglas, Robert Mitchum and Richard Widmark. Guthrie soon made the trip to Hollywood himself, and ended up writing screenplays, including one for the Alan Ladd film classic “Shane” (1953), based on Jack Schaefer’s novel. He finished his four-novel series about the West with “These Thousand Hills” (1956) and (much later) “Arfive” (1970). From 1962 to 1977, Guthrie also served as general editor of the very collectible American Trails series for McGraw Hill, working with many of his fellow writer pals, including Wallace Stegner, George Stewart, Stewart Holbrook, David Lavender, Hodding Carter, Ferol Egan and others. His autobiography, “The Blue Hen’s Chick,” appeared in 1965. He passed away in 1991 at his home in Montana. #abguthrie #westernwriter #wallacestegner #western #thebigsky #thewaywest #book #pulitzer #westernnovel #bookish #bibliophile #bookgeek #reading #mylibrary #yearofthebook #rarebooks #firstedition #americantrails #georgerstewart
