"Bluestar, why isn't Firepaw back from training yet?" Goldenflower asked calmly, starting up Dark Souls boss music.
For my favourite Warriors rewrite out there, @redux-iterum did an amazing job with the first two books they've completed so far! Virtually every character is handled with so much more care and thought.

A comic depicting a scene in @redux-iterum story, A Kindling, which is the first part in a series rewriting the warrior cats books. I've read other stories with a similar concept, but none have done it as masterfully as Redux-iterum. The world building is interesting and unique, the characters are fleshed out, and the plot is nail biting. Firestar is given much more of a personality, and the Tigerclaw in this causes me physical agony. PLEASE read it if your into warriors, you won't regret it.
In regards to this scene in particular, it was my favourite in the whole series so far.

“Where did you get such a kind heart and keep it for so long?”
“I guess I got it from my mom. Both of them, really.”
(I am once again asking you to read the @redux-iterum Warriors rewrite.)

“Wooow,” Fireheart whispered. “And you yelled at Greystripe for—”
“Shut up!” Ravenwing hissed frantically. “It’s not the same thing! And I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
Fireheart’s eyes were nearly shut in delight. “You gunna say anything to him?”
“No!” Ravening somehow squeak-whispered. “I’m just– appreciating! I can appreciate!”
@redux-iterum
Drew something quick to show my appreciation of this latest chapter! Been a while since I drew cats, but I really love this version of Raven just as much as I love sweet Fireboi, so it was worth some mental flailing.

Apologies for the wait @cagedcats , I’ve been quite busy recently. But without further ado, here’s an Iterum oc! I’ll be posting more ocs when I have the time :)
Dawnheart - huge golden torbie molly with a white chest, paws, and blue eyes
Born under the aggressive reign of Beetlestar in ThunderClan, Dawnpaw never felt that she belonged in her clan. After conversing with some ShadowClan apprentices during her first gathering, Dawnpaw decided right then and there that she wanted to switch clans. After some initial shock, (and a mortified Beetlestar as he couldn’t do anything during a waking night) Dawnpaw said goodbye to her family and friends and followed the ShadowClan cats home. Initially, Dawnpaw struggled in this new environment. It was hard to take her superiors seriously when she towered over them, and her thick pelt and giant paws made her clumsy and slow in the marsh. Dawnpaw tried to be kind and respectful to her new clanmates, but often got into trouble as she challenged any orders or rules that went against her morality. More often than not, her mentor would have to chase after her as Dawnpaw instantly challenged any stray in the Aulmir that gave ShadowClan a funny look. It was also hard to train with her fellow apprentices when a single paw swipe would send them flying. Just when she was giving up hope, on one chilly winter night an elder asked in a creaky voice if Dawnpaw could shield her from the cold. Dawnpaw was happy to agree, and as more and more cats filed in camp after patrols, before long all the Shadowclan cats were snuggled up together as Dawnpaw served as a giant heater. (I remember asking about a giant cat being in Shadowclan and someone replied with the idea of a cat snuggle party, it was so darn cute I had to snatch that idea, props to anon for that idea) This served as a turning point for her, and Dawnpaw began to put in the work and effort to help her clan, like volunteering for patrols, teaching younger apprentices, and babysitting kittens whenever the queens wanted a break. It took a while, but as she earned her clanmates’ respect she learned self control and patience. Before long it was time for her warrior assessment, and she was chosen to help escort the elders across the territory. Unfortunately, that night the patrol was ambushed by Beetlestar and his rogue goons. Dawnpaw refused to back down and protected the elders before reinforcements could arrive, and even went toe to toe against the ThunderClan leader too. She managed to claw out his eye before ShadowClan patrols came to their rescue. Dawnpaw was severely injured from her wounds, but after a moon of rest and healing she was able to happily accept her new name of Dawnheart.

Ok actual last one for a while- @redux-iterum
Thought I’d actually get an idea for The Three
Suriin gets the black pelt and many eyes description. Aaaand Rohkar I simply had face away so I didn’t have to worry about eyes.
Horoa is interesting because I completely forgot his face is covered with smoke, so had to cover him up.
Also as a treat I’ll share my first ever attempts at these three years ago- feast your eyes in some old Cagedcats work
Tumblr media
Not sure how old this piece is exactly, but god. It was for sure around the first redux, just not sure em when exactly. I think prior to the third book, but not sure.
I think it was when I really wanted to make a fangame for redux, but learning coding is hard Y’know (and the rpg maker I downloaded I accidentally deleted the cat file and couldn’t figure out how to get it back so rip)
Oh but ideas for lineart/styles for the spirits in future: The Three will be done similar to the No Mercy picture Semi-realistic, Thlraina’s lines will be jagged and thicker then others, Theful will be patched, aaand Mernantha (Petalfall) will be normalish because of the whole she was a normal cat once thing.

In trying to fill in some gaps in the Warriors universe through some storytelling, I find myself struggling with how much I want to stick to canon. I think I may just switch somethings around...
the gaps I hope to fill are between Shadowstar's Life and Cloudstar's Journey, and then after Cloudstar's Journey into the Mapleshade/Pinestar generation. There are a few questions to be had in the context of the WC universe:
When did the naming system change?
The Warrior Code development: The first one mentioned is the "friends in other clans" bit, but that doesn't really make sense in context of the rest of the code order
I like the @redux-iterum way of things (totally did not binge their series on ao3 or anything /s), that the naming system was created out of necessity in part to kits dying too young in battles (or something to that tune). But in thinking that, the warrior code would have had to been developed a lot sooner than the canon states.
So, some changes that I will make in my Lost Generations series:
The warrior code is developed sooner, and thus the naming system is changed as a result
medicine cats can have kits/a mate, so long as they have another fully trained cat under them
personally, I think leaders should refrain from naming direct relatives/mates as deputies, so I might sprinkle that in
StarClan needs to be more removed; I will keep the nine lives and herbs thing (again, referencing to the redux's lore) but keep StarClan to the first book in how "mysterious" they were
mates do not need to be declared; the clans will operate more like a real feral colony but with more males. Thus the chance of inbreeding happens less and some female cats may take the opportunity to mate with a loner
however, half-clan relationships will still be very discouraged -- the rule above mostly pertains to individual loners outside of the clans
So yeah, if i think of other things, i'll update this post but that's about it. writing has officially begun for this series! can't wait!

I adore redux-iterum's rewrite of the first arc of warriors so far. All of the worldbuilding and characterization is so good. Goldenflower being a fucking force to be reckoned with towards the end of the first book made my brain go brrrr. Definitely check it out if you guys have the chance.

So out of curiousity would you be changing the names of the dogs similarly to how some of the pets in Iterum/Redux had their names changed.
I remember being absolutely baffled reading Survivors when Lucky knew that Bella meant “beautiful” and wondered how the hell a dog knew this.
I might if they would make more sense in the context of their character arc or backstory, like Moon, Snap, and Twitch are probably gonna get a rename for just how confusing their names are in the context of dog religion and puppy names, and maybe some of the pet dogs might change their names to something else after getting acquainted with the wild, likely Bruno given his frequency of wanting to fit in.
I personally think it's fine that the dogs in Survivors understand and adopt the names the humans give them - they're man's best friend after all - yet not the cats in Warriors keeping names like Sasha and Cody and Monkey. Cats would see their human-bestowed names as "not their real name", but dogs would for what I'd assume are fairly obvious reasons.'I personally think it's fine that the dogs in Survivors understand and adopt the names the humans give them - they're man's best friend after all - yet not the cats in Warriors keeping names like Sasha and Cody and Monkey. Even then, the dogs don't really know Mickey is a diminutive of Michael which comes from the Hebrew name Mikha'el which is a rhetorical question of "who is like God?" They just recognize and adopt the funny sounds their humans are making; good frickin luck if one of them overhears a conversation about their dog's name meaning and have just enough mental capacity to keep up with them.
