I finally got around to building my birthday present to myself. :D
A very nice build. Very simple, but looking great. There were a couple of parts I wondered at, but all in all this is really an excellent kit. Definitely not a Gundam, and taking full advantage of it for the range in motions.
It's weird. I never liked the Leo much in the series. Those fat thighs always turn me off. It's the same reason I dislike the Tallgeese design, even though I seem to be the only one.
But now that I've built the little fella, he has really started growing on me. Posed right and with all proportions correct, he does look cool.
...
Huh. My phone has filters? I wonder what those are. Pencil drawing, painting, cubism... Ah, it's that stuff that is available online, too. Probably gonna suck the same-
So uh, guess who just completed their first gunpla?
I bought this fella second-hand at a convention last saturday shortly after realizing it can turn into a motherfucking BIRD and falling in love with it immediately.
I was honestly surprised with how much fun I've had just assembling it. Normally I'm not one to enjoy these kinds of manual tasks, but even though dealing with the smaller pieces is a pain, seeing the whole thing slowly come together was so satisfying it was the only thing I could think about doing these last 2 days.
And it turned out great too! Yeah it's far from perfect: many pieces are chipped or straight up broken somewhat (like the helmet horns lol), most of the stickers I applied are either misplaced or lost entirely and I haven't dared to try turning it int the bird mode because the arm articulations seem to be off, but overall? Pretty good for a first timer with zero motor skills and a nail clipper lol
The writers in gundam when gundam wing doesnt have enough gundam in the gundam wing show so they have to write some writing in order to write some stuff in the story where the gundams are
finished my rewatch of Gundam Wing today and you know, while a lot of nonsense goes on in that show and a lot of philosophizing that tbh I wasn't paying much attention to this time around, hats off to them for pulling off the extremely dramatic final battle in such a way that when "just communication" started playing I was smile crying 🥹🥲
some thoughts from this rewatch compared to when I was in high school:
Duo is my fave now, which should surprise nobody
Zechs is still the prettiest
I'm a 3x4 truther
back then I was a 5x13 but tbh they have like two extremely dramatic scenes together and otherwise literally nothing for like 47/49 episodes 🤔
How do you feel about Sunrise making an anniversary GundamWing movie? Not based on Frozen Shenanigans, though.
An interesting thought! I could ask you the same thing, friend. For me, it depends. If it's set after the series and Endless Waltz, then I don't want it. The series already had a satisfying ending. Endless Waltz was just fanservice. Though I'll admit it was nice to see the boys in consistently high quality animation, and it tied up Wufei's arc, so I'll give it a pass. But something after that? No, thanks. No Preventer 5 nonsense.
I certainly do not want whatever is going on with Seed right now. We already have Frozen Tearderp, I don't need someone's Mary Sue self-insert 2000s fic as a cash grab "sequel" decades later.
If Sunrise decides to give us another movie for Wing, then there is only one thing I would be interested in: the past. Give me Episode Zero. not Relena's though Let me see Meilan. Let me see Father Maxwell and Sister Helen. Give me Middie, the mercenary captain, Odin Lowe. This is the only part of the series that is really missing. We have everything else. Certainly the ending. Give us the beginning.
If Sunrise wants to sell gunpla, they can sell custom OZ grunt suits. :V
I rewatched Gundam Wing the past few days and Boy! I realized I sure did Not comprehend it when I first watched it at 12 years old. It's also interesting to compare who my faves were as a kid and who ended being my faves now.
