Had an absolute doozy of a thought

So, Jeremiah met Thomas Wayne, right? Right.

He let Thomas go to his bunker because he trusted him that much. He was young, probably just adventuring out into his engineering career after school and finishing his bunker. (The timeline is weird for him, so I'm most likely taking some liberties with it lol)

And Thomas, like father like son, probably praised him, maybe even treated him like a son. (Srsly tho, if Thomas had lived, would he have been able to get Jeremiah out of his bunker?? Like, invite him to join them for dinner some nights and just let him bond with them?? Cause I like to think so)

And Jeremiah, young and unused to such kindness, falls head over heels for the married older man.

He tries to push it aside as they exchange letters and emails, but after meeting with him at his bunker, he really can't help it. He fantasizes and tries to think up ways to spend more time with the man. Even though he knows it'd be a terrible idea to do so. He won't ruin his happy marriage and hurt his son that Thomas spoke of with so much love. Jeremiah didn't know that much love could exist in a parent. His mother certainly hadn't raised the bar on what love should be, and his adopted parents felt more like CEOs trying to show off their latest invention (him).

Then Thomas and Martha are killed.

He chances going to the funeral for just a moment and tries not to cry when he's alone. No one had treated him the way Thomas had and no one ever would again... Until Bruce.

Like father like son. Except, instead of treating Jeremiah like his son, he treats him like a friend, then a brother. And he's so much like Thomas. Jeremiah really can't help falling all over again.

Tldr: Jeremiah really has a thing for the Wayne men.

First of all I would like to say that I love your fics, they are wonderfully well written and one can see the amount of creativity and love you put into both the writing and the source material (the wayleska and JeromeFive fics are everything to me ❤️)

You have a preference for Gotham (and I understand) so I would like to ask: what attracts you so much to this universe specifically? Do you like comics? Im not trying to be offensive, but I would love to know your thoughts!

First of all, anon, thank you so much for your kind words about my Gotham fic! And I also want to start by reassuring you that your question is not offensive in the least.

Gotham, at least in its early seasons, had what felt like a fresh take. I was deeply intrigued when I first started watching; there were a handful of performances that kept me riveted. I was watching because of Fish (I hate forever that they killed her off; this is why she's still alive in like 99% of my fic series), Oswald (I had never seen a take on Penguin that I liked before; it was refreshing to see a blatantly queer character), Edward (forensics-tech-era Ed was just...*chef kiss*), Tabitha (another WOC I am incensed they killed off; the way she stood up to her scumbag brother and got Silver to safety was amazing), Barbara (she's just so unbelievably shameless and shrewd; she and Tabitha together give me heart eyes), and of course Bruce and Jerome/later on Jeremiah (I had never seen a young Bruce so well acted before; as for the twins, well, anything Cameron Monaghan touches is electrifying).

Above all, though, I loved that nobody in the show, and I mean nobody, was what I'd call a truly good person. Everyone was flawed and showed their darkness time and time again, Bruce included. It felt like a universe where maybe there wouldn't be a Batman (even though I know that was their endgame; the point is that it gave off that vibe), and that was intriguing to me as a premise when it came to writing fic. You've probably noticed that Bruce does not become Batman in any of my Gotham stories.

I haven't read much of the comics, although I do like comics and graphic novels. My familiarity with the comics pretty much begins and ends with Batman: Europa, The Long Halloween, and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. What I love, though, I mean absolutely adore, is Batman: The Animated Series. That show was my introduction to Batman—to DC, full stop. The way Gotham was shot, dark but vibrant, reminded me of B:TAS.

Yknow I don’t actually ship Wayleska that much (not anti, just didn’t get into it) but I still really enjoy your fics and your general vibes on this blog. I love darkfic and it’s always been weird to me how many people in the Gotham fandom get mad about dark content...like sis they’re villains. They don’t just rob candy stores either. Let them be fucked up and weird and disturbing and do fucked up and weird and disturbing things. Let them have sexy toxic twisted relationships. Oh also Jervis Tetch on Gotham was fucking hot and it adds years to me life every time you blog about him.

but I KNOW. i've never understood people in this fandom who throw hissy fits over people producing dark content. like obviously you don't have to enjoy (or be comfortable) with it all but getting mad about it is ridiculous lol. my fave is when i see people complain about valeyne and they're always like "jerome tried to KILL BRUCE!!! 3 TIMES!!" like yes beloved..... they're baby batjokes. that is typically what batjokes entails; attempted murder. in the grand scheme of things their meager age difference is by far the least toxic part lol. pretty much all of the villains in this show are fucked up and do fucked up things and acting like ANY of them are pure uwu goody good can't have toxic relationship types is just stupid. also they truly did and i thank them so much for it. they didn't have to make jervis sexy but by god they did and i owe them my life for it

i found - acoustic by amber run gives me such wayleska vibes, specifically the line ‘i found live where it wasn’t supposed to be, right in front of me’

i mean, Jeremiah probably wasn’t expecting to meet the love of his life through his brother’s attempted murder of him, yet he did. Here came waltzing in this boy who could say all the right things and seemed so genuinely intrigued by his work and he couldn’t believe it. and he thought, walking away from a place of new trauma, how even if Jerome was dead, and stayed dead, and he had gotten away with his life, an unexpected turn of events, he had met Bruce Wayne and that was enough. He just had to find a way to get back in conact with him. BUT Bruce caught his arm as he walked away and said, with how their death looming over him, that he still wanted to fund his project. Still wanted to find Jeremiah. Jeremiah had never been separated from his godawful twin by anyone who had met them both before, and the rich folks who adopted him saw him as no more than a charity to brag about to other people at parties, but here Bruce was. Seeing Jeremiah. Seeing Jeremiah and still wanting him.
