Mike & Vanessa Peters

Mike is older than Vanessa by 1 year. 

Mike was 34 when Bloom was adopted, and Vanessa was 33

Mike comes from a large family, none of whom live close by. Vanessa on the other hand is an only child. 

The reason why Mike and Vanessa don’t have children of their own is because Vanessa had ovarian cancer at the age of 29, only five years after beating breast cancer. She had to have an ovary removed as well as a section of the attached fallopian tube removed as well. However, the chemo drugs she took after her surgery caused damage to the eggs in her remaining ovary. While she isn’t completely infertile, a series of painful miscarriages resulted in the couple giving up on their hopes of starting a family. 

The therapy and surgery that Vanessa underwent was pricey and Mike had to borrow money from family and friends in order to pay the medical bills. 

It was only a few months prior to Bloom’s 16th birthday that Mike was able to pay back all the money he had borrowed from his family but still had a bit more to go in repaying some friends. 

The couple had been looking into adoption and foster care when Mike had discovered Bloom in a burning building. 

Mike had called Vanessa at the station while still holding an exhausted Bloom. Vanessa had come as soon as she got the call and it was love at first sight as the two of them held Bloom in their arms. They inquired with the police officers on what would happen to the baby if a parent or guardian weren’t found. 

When nothing was found about Bloom’s background, and it was assumed that she had been abandoned, Mike and Vanessa were the first to jump at the chance to foster her.  

After a year and a half the couple were finally able to file for a proper adoption. 

Bloom grew up happy and healthy and never really questioned her parentage, until a very fateful day in the little city of Gardenia.

the HC for Lionheart is that he is born sickly and smaller than his sister (HC: and a possible dead littermate) which causes Swiftbreeze to invoke the Lion- name, with Featherwhisker's blessing, and he makes a full recovery; ThunderClan has more of a 'this name will bring good luck/a bright future' view of the ancient names compared to Shadow and WindClan who are superstitious of it and see is as an exchange, something must be taken back by the ancient cats. Lionheart is set for deputyship once Bluestar picks him, but the curse comes back to haunt him when he is killed by ShadowClan- his death leads to Tigerclaw's deputyship and all... that. Lionblaze already suffers a somewhat traumatic birth (Leafpool struggles to deliver him) so she uses Lion- when she sees he is not breathing and panics to revive him. The downfall is his power, and losing his power, which defined him. I also like to think he was destined to die in the Last Hope Battle but his power over the stars let him dodge death.

little personal wc design headcanon list cause i'm bored:

clear sky has a very pale intense stare. like imagine steele from balto but take it up to 10 - looking as him is genuinely uncomfortable

both leafpool and leafstar are torbies and have cute little ginger patches in their coats

splashtail is a ragdoll

darkstripe has a short tail

a good chunk of windclan is either an oriental shorthair, a cornish rex or a devon rex

despite being being mostly really fluffy, hollyleaf and lionblaze have much shorter fur on their tails, while for jayfeather it's the opposite

nightcloud is one of the very few longhaired windclan cats (selkirk rex)

darktail is a smoke maine coon

lightleap is the only one of the tigerclones (specifically the brown tabbies/ones that strongly resemble him, not just his descendants) that is longhaired

riverclan cats generally have a lot more body fat than the rest of the clans to keep them insulated during and after swimming

barley's gay, he strikes me as a guy who knew that about himself very early on and has always been certain of it.

he's gay but squidward gay to me, if you know the post i'm trying to reference you know what i'm trying to say here

bi but doesn't really know it or think on it. probably figures it out later in life.

answered jayfeather. hollyleaf ping pongs through her life and eventually realizes she's a lesbian when she becomes a warrior and recognizes she really likes cinderheart. realizes she's nonbinary too when she comes out of the tunnels.

bi bi bi transfem. don't ask how that works in canon. i'm partial to the idea of aro squilf but probably more so in fan works.

mothwing is absolutely a lesbian she's THE lesbian of the series to me.

thought she was straight for a long time, i think she straight up just thought her feelings were very normal and that everyone had them. realized she was bi after whistlebreeze had been flirting with her for months.

darkstripe's gay but he's really in denial about it. he grew up with a conservative mentor and he tried really hard to kick those thoughts. i think he kind of realizes it in the dark forest unfortunately. sasha's bi and probably nonbinary but she doesn't really think about it too often. i think if she had a better support system she'd feel more comfortable exploring herself that way.

she kind of strikes me as a kid who had zero time for any sort of self-reflection and it took her well into adulthood to realize that she's nonbinary + bi. i don't think she can dwell on it too long tbh i don't think she enjoys thinking about herself for too long until later on as an older adult.

squilf and bam designs.... i have a lot of headcanon design IDEAS but i never draw them i had to get these suggested by friends for me to draw them

some misc design notes:

squirrelflight got round shapes and small ears like her round dad and nobody ever cares about the flight part of her name so she was wing esque back markings. and a heart on her nose for love. thats where i kiss her ok

i made bramblestar yellowish because his momma is GOLDENflower and hes got spiky energy for his bramble name. as a kid i'm pretty sure I thought his claws actually had spikes/thorns on them so i gave him prominent front claws as like. an homage to that
