Boy do I have updates

#I had my first experience with an arranged marriage type situation #Checked off all my boxes but I felt absolutely nothing #it was agonizing to try and process my feelings when our parents had spoken and everyone was so excited #so i sent a nice little message about how I’m just not feeling enough of a connection to move forward #and he said he wasn’t feeling it either but thought flying out to meet me would help #and that was ofc a major ick for me #if we’re not obsessed with each other I don’t want it!!!#so anyway I’m so relieved so glad I followed my heart #and now ofc everyone is acting like they agreed with me all along #but I feel so free and like I can really trust myself #this morning I went to this lecture series on world religions at this church nearby #it was open to everyone and it was in the university’s religious life newsletter #it was hilarious being the only nonwhite person under the age of like 70 #todays talk was about Buddhism and the chaplain from the meditation groups I’ve been going to was the speaker #so they gave me a lil shout out when talking about the university’s activities #and thennnnn at 1 I had my first date with Andrew #he lives an hour away but he drove all the way out here #we got ice cream and sat outside and talked #he is so handsome omg #tall and a thick beard and fit and suuuper well dressed but in a very understated way #a super deep voice and a bit of a southern accent which truly had me swooning #also he paid for my ice cream without me knowing which was so sweet #he’s from a suuuper tiny town but did his master’s here in the city #and one green flag is when he was talking about some friends’ bachelor parties he mentioned all these super wholesome activities #he laughs a lot #I had a really nice time #and I’m realizing that I’m so much more confident now #I can talk to anybody and really keep a conversation going #I took a Power Nap but I gotta get back to my homework soon phew #remember

Ok but honestly I find it so annoying that so many completely innocent forms of affection are somehow limited to romantic relationships for literally no reason. And when I say that like yeah I do mean that I think friends should be able to kiss if they want but also just like. Hand holding??? Cuddling and sleeping in the same bed????? Little kisses on your head or your hand or your cheek?????? (And yes, kissing and making out and literally anything that’s ok with both parties bc platonic/romantic/sexual relationship boundaries are all made up anyways.) And I mean yeah ok it depends on the person and the culture like obviously not everyone would judge you for doing those things with a friend. But I hate how we have to be so touch starved all the time because we’re supposed to wait for a romantic relationship to roll around to engage in this kind of human contact with someone???? However long that could take?????? When we could just be doing it with anyone all the time. And it would be so nice.

Plus some people NEVER want a romantic relationship but they’re still expected to like. Not Do Anything Touchy with anyone ever bc that means you’re dating somehow. And that is so unfair to those people.

#ok ok a lot of the things I listed are probably seen as normal friend things #but I definitely don’t think I would reach out to hold hands with my friends I would feel weird #or kiss them anywhere #and I feel perfectly fine snuggling and spooning with my friends but I’ve had parents be like ‘omg stop that or you can’t come over’#like ok so it’s fine to hug my friend but if I hug them while lying on the floor in a bed that means we’re having sex?????#make it make sense!!!!!#and yeah I bet a lot of these are specifically white American culture #other cultures are much more comfy with platonic and familial touch #but godddd why cant I just hold my friends hands and tell them I love them all the time #it’s not a big deal

Oh very sad things I asked my boss if I could have red hair again and he very much was like yeah no unfortunately not here

guys i am. trying out for a solo in choir. for creep. the cover by richard cheese. guys

#PLEEK PLEEEK I WANT IT SO BAD #was just practicing and am SLAYING the final chorus so fingers crossed #even though it’s kinda out of my range like it sounds better up the octave but is kind of hard to sing up the octave so it’s a dilemma #like it’s in my range but it’s pushing it #but in class i was like am i allowed to try out 👁️👁️#and literally like 5 people were like OMG YES YOUR VOICE WOULD BE PERFECT #and it was people im not like great friends with or anything i literally felt soo hashtag validated #this may seem funny with just this context but trust me it is SO much funnier with the added context i have #i mean it’s rly a you had to be there kind of thing but basically #for like 2 years it’s been an inside joke that the choir should sing creep like it would get brought up every week at least #to illustrate how big this joke was in the middle of our end-of-year choir banquet without explanation they dimmed the lights #and started playing a creep karaoke track #and it was just this room full of choir kids all singing creep next to their confused parents #so anyway. the fact that we’re actually doing it. and that it’s THE RICHARD CHEESE VERSION #is fucking monumental
