雑にゲームを作る(2)から引き続き。今週末はEmscriptenビルドを試していた。

最初、CMakeでvcpkgを使いながらEmscriptenのビルドをする方法を確立するのに時間がかかった。どうもvcpkgのEmscripten対応はごく最近マージされた状態のようで、他に試している人があんまり見つからなかった。結局いろいろやってみて、 CMAKE_TOOLCHAIN_FILE変数をvcpkg.cmakeに、VCPKG_CHAINLOAD_TOOLCHAIN_FILE変数をEmscripten.cmakeに設定してビルドすればできた。

その後ビルドはできるものの動かないという状態が続いた。OpenGL,OpenGL ES,GLSL,WebGLそれぞれのバージョンがどう対応しているかがよくわからず、混乱のもととなった。結局OpenGL ES 3.0(GLSL ES 3.0)ならWebGL2で動きそうということでいろいろ試行錯誤したけどなかなか原因がわからず、最後に最小構成まで削った状態で試してみたところ動いたのでよかった。あとはどこが原因かをコード足しながら探せばよさそう。

New ShaderGif release v0.0.24! I'm on fire lol.

This time, I added the possibility to download an offline copy of a sketch with everything it needs to run (in a .zip folder). This works with p5.js, plain javascript, WebGL1 shaders and probably WebGL2 shaders.

WebGL2 Note: I still have to test the WebGL2 on a WebGL2-supporting computer, but it should already be working. If it does not work, I'll fix it later this week.

i have been worried about hell game scene writing with all the character mutability stuff but i just checked dawn of corruption & it has the same sex scenes w/ some characters for when you're 6ft tall vs. when you're 2 miles tall so you know maybe there's more audience leniency than i was thinking

lol i also fixed an accidental quadratic time rendering bug in the map code. that is kind of pointless since i wrote the initial hell game 2 demo in the era of canvas-based maps and i will likely want to replace it with the fancier webgl2 one i wrote later. but it's still nice to make a thing more efficient.

Shadergif (https://shadergif.com) now supports webgl2 which means it supports GLSL version 3.0 es. With this GLSL version, it is possible to create for loops with comparisons that are not constant.

In prior versions of GLSL, you could not do:

for(int i = 0; i < int(time * 10.0); i++) // You could not use time or other variables here

Now, with GLSL 3.00 you can do what's above, which saves trouble and break statement hacks.

For the gif, it is just the raymarching example with a comparison with sin(time * pi * 2), which limits iteration count. You can play with it here if my server doesn't crash: https://shadergif.com/gifs/118 . With all the code I changed in the past week, I would not be surprised if something in shadergif explodes.

Otherwise, I added many features: icons, ability to edit a gif's title and description, mini version of markdown for gif description, etc. The version is now 0.0.8. I also migrated all the examples in the example page to GLSL 3.00.

Now I'll be slowing down shadergif development a bit since I'll be travelling next week + I have to code some PHP for a client (meh, php), then I have an internship starting.
