everyone, life is beautiful. my editors have forgiven me for being super late on my article (we've yet to determine if my article is intelligent or spurious, but a draft is done) AND I completed a Balatro run (checkered deck, white stake, I'm not great at this game)

#I've resolved to do more posting about how things are going well since I was Idiot Doom Spiral for like seven weeks #It's like day.... four? of not wanting to cry for like twenty minutes every other hour so things are better

(Excerpt from Chapter 24):

“Yeah I know,” he sighed slumping back into the counter. For a moment there was silence before the shifting of shoes and the tips of his moms boat shoes appeared at the edges of his vision. She was standing directly in front of him, but Liam couldn’t convince himself to look up at her. There was another warm press as her hands came to rest against his shoulders, pressing insistently for a moment before rising higher and pressing against his jaw, encouraging him to lift his face to hers.

“Sweetie,” she began, voice soft, “is this something to do with you and your friends?”

Damn, he couldn’t even answer that question.

“I don’t know,” He began helplessly, “I really don’t know.”

Finally Liam lifted his eyes to meet his moms face. When he had been younger and his hair had been a brighter blonde like hers, people often said that they looked like each other. As he got older Liam couldn’t really see the similarities, but here in the middle of the kitchen he could. The blue eyes, tinged almost red from the irritated iris surrounding them. The dried and rubbed raw pointed nose, from too many tissues. It settled with a heavy weight in his chest. She was sick. She was sick too.
