Summer met the firefighter Osamu, who saved her, coincidentally in the neighborhood. He wears more make-up than her, and also has a weird choice of style, but Summer is so smitten by his hero act, that she's willing to overlook a lot. I can smell another romance on the way, but this week's already over!

Week 3-4 Insights
List of the insights that I gained from the interview:
1. Greens and Sweets
Being able to interview and knowing the story of Ms. Regina about her business, Greens and Sweets, gave us lessons and deeper insights into how business works.
While we were inside the Greens and Sweets, me and my groupmates felt welcomed and relaxed. Ms. Regina made the interview lighter, and she shared with us a lot of her experiences, from which we also learned a lot from her.
She shared with us that the inspiration behind her business was her hobby and passion for cooking during the pandemic. She even watched the whole season of Master Chef. It also helped that during the pandemic, her father was doing hydroponics with lettuce; then they were only selling it in a cup, but then she felt it was boring, so she thought of ways on how to elevate it since she knows how to cook.
We also learned about her marketing strategies back when her business is still starting. She chose Instagram for posting and promoting her product since, for her, Instagram is more aesthetic and it is more suited for her business at that time. Additionally, she said that if you want your business to have more exposure and for the general public to know about it, you can opt to promote it on Facebook.
She also made us feel at ease during the interview, she even said that she can also relate to us as she was also a student back then. As a kind gesture, she gave us their kani roll for free, making it an even more memorable experience.
2. Cuadro Ocho Incorporated
Cuadro Ocho Incorporated shows us new learnings and insights that we gained during our interview with them.
Cuadro Ocho Incorporated shows that a group of friends with a shared business vision can build something significant from humble beginnings. Starting from in Iligan, where they mainly sold lumber, they expanded into a fully hardware and construction materials company with 11 branches across different locations. It also shows that their success did not happen suddenly, they did careful planning, having the right legal documents like SEC registration and BIR certification to ensure their operations were legitimate.
The process of setting up a corporation like Cuadro Ocho Inc. involves a lot of legal documents, from the Articles of Incorporation to General Information Sheets (GIS), all of which are vital in maintaining transparency and legal compliance. These legal documents serve as a foundation and legitimacy, complying with the requirements of having a business.
Another insight that I gained is how they carefully consider the location of their stores. The foot traffic and parking are very important factors for them, especially the nature of their business, where heavy supplies often need to be transported. They clearly understand that choosing the right spot for a branch can make a big difference in customer convenience and sales.
3. FMN Agriculture Supply Inc.
The interview that we did for the FMN Agriculture Supply Inc. showed us the deeper importance of documents and insights about business.
Ms. Tato explained and shared with us the importance of complying with the legal documents and license for their business and also having business in general. Their having an FPA license aside from registering it with SEC and DTI, shows how crucial it is for businesses that are in line with agriculture to ensure compliance for the safety and well-being of their customers and the environment. It also demonstrates that they really ensure their products, like fertilizers and pesticides, meet safety and quality standards before they sell them.
Having certificates and trainings is also important to this business, as per Ms. Tato. Attending trainings and seminars from the Red Cross and BOSH shows how a business needs to invest in learning and training for their staff. This gives their staff knowledge and preparedness against potential emergencies and hazards. Additionally, their Fire Safety Inspection and Sanitary permit, and their annual renewal for their documents, permits, and licenses indicate how important proper documentation is for businesses. Staying updated with renewals to avoid any legal issues, complying, and maintaining its legitimate business.
4. Color Mix Paint Center
Color Mix Paint Center gave us lessons that we can learn from and insights that we can get from having a business.
Mrs. Cabatud shared to us that one time, she felt that there was much growth that could happen, and so she ventured and established two more branches of Color Mix Paint Center in other locations. Her vision was to increase the customer base and expand her business. However, she had some problems such as the sales problems that hinder the business from sustaining the branches operations.
Therefor, Mrs. Cabutad brought the resolve to shut both branches after a long and hard thinking. It was a disappointment but she did not let disappoint join her as she had learned to deal with disappointments realistically. Instead of letting this be a problem for her business, she decided to concentrate on developing her one branch. In doing so, she was able to cut down costs, and focus more time on delivering outstanding service to her clients at the core business.
Mrs. Cabatud story shows that it is not always a straight upward march for a business and, in some cases, the decision to downsize might just be the best course of action for further growth. Because of her flexibility and willingness to grow from the situation, Color Mix Paint Center can still be continued to be presented as a business.
5. Jay-Q Grains Rice Trading
Jay-Q Grains Rice Trading showed us that despite challenges, you can still continue to provide quality products, and I also gained insights from it.
From the receipt we saw during our interview with her, one of the Philippine Red Cross staff attended Occupational First Aid and Adult Basic Life Support with CPR training. This training ensure that their staff are ready for any emergencies that may occurred even though they are not into medical field. Moreover, Ms. Tagaro pointed out that their business documents must be updated on a yearly basis to ensure they pass legal requirements.
Ms. Tagaro also informed us about the problems of the rice trading business saying that the price level may vary depending on supply and demand. There are other traders who also offer rice within the area and, therefore, a threat to the company through placing pressure on the prices. Nevertheless, the following are the challenges that the firm face with regard to its operation, Jay-Q Grains Rice Trading, continues to operate with a commitment to providing quality rice and ensuring that it complies with all legal requirements.
- Being able to interview and know these businesses, I have learned that sometimes, starting small means you have to get out of your comfort zone and learn how to elevate things and deal with different legal documents for compliance. It is very inspiring to see how dedication, passion, perseverance, and hard work can lead to growth and success.

“What does your writing process look like when you draft an essay?” #writ318mu #week3
Now unlike writing a text to a friend, drafting an essay is all about format. Whether it be your font size or your indent, format is one of the big keys to creating the perfect essay.
The two standard formats that most professors make their students write in are MLA and APA.
MLA format is what you will see in most college papers/essays, usually Times New Roman, font size 12, double-spaced, etc. APA format is also a common one found in college papers. I have mostly been asked to use APA format in work-cited pages. However, I used APA the most when it comes to drafting an essay outline, which leads me to my main point.
Writing out an outline for a paper is my main tool when it comes to essays/research papers. Writing a long essay just feels a lot simpler when writing 3-4 sentences a bullet point. With the boom of Ai writing, professors and schools are allowing their students to use these tools to assist their writing. KEY WORD, “assist”. You cannot go have an Ai bot write an essay for you, it will not be good, and will get you in trouble. I have had professors in their syllabus write out what you can use Ai for in the class, a great example is this class’s syllabus. Typical it allows you to brainstorm ideas as well as draft up outlines.
I use these things to help keep my writing organized as well as thought out. However, everyone has their own style of doing things. I know great writers that can type out 1000’s of words an hour just with the help of music!

Innovation Weekly Blog
Week 1-2 The first two weeks marked the beginning of this semester. During this period, I mainly studied the course syllabus and the teaching direction of the innovation course.
In addition to the introductory explanations in class, I also read some readings and learned from readings. For example, in the article Design Thinking DT from Website Interaction Design Foundation, I learned about design thinking, which broadened my understanding towrads design and how design works. I got to know the definition of design thinking and its importance. What impressed me the most were the five stages of design thinking: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. This filled my gaps in professional design thinking and taught me the rules of design, so that I no longer explore design blindly but complete tasks more professionally.
I also read IDEO Design Thinking. IDEO was known as a famous design institution. Although IDEO did not invent design thinking, it is famous for its practice and application. Design thinking is suitable for solving dynamic and multi-faceted human problems, such as enterprises coping with the challenges of technology and globalization. As a beginner, I have learned to stay open and curious, regard ambiguity as an opportunity. The mindset includes empathy, optimism, iteration, creativity, and tolerance for ambiguity, focusing on design tasks and understanding their needs to obtain the best solutions to meet the needs.
In the second week, from the reading Design Thinking And Learning (2021), I realized that the core value of design thinking is learning. Things that cannot be innovative will eventually be eliminated. I found that not only students like me need to learn, but even design masters, need to continue to explore and grow in practice, and need to master skills such as making, observing, breaking through thinking limitations, and understanding things in new ways.
Week3
Tumblr media
In the third week, I joined a group and got to know my classmates. They come from different majors, and we kicked off a project themed around the local Mainland Gallery, aiming to figure out how to attract more public attention to art and encourage art consumption. I joined our group chat and embarked on this collaborative journey.
During this period, I read the article Design Thinking for Social Good: An Interview with David Kelley by Avi Solomon in 2012. It introduced the founding of IDEO, shared the masters' definitions of design, and showed how David Kelley uses empathy to draw inspiration from real life – something I find highly worth learning. No matter the field, observation truly helps in learning, imitating, and gaining fresh insights.
Week 4
Tumblr media
In the fourth week, we were assigned tasks. My job was to interview classmates, friends, and neighbors of different age groups, asking about their knowledge of Mainland Gallery and their habits of art consumption. However, most interviewees said they didn't know the gallery, but showed great interest in well-known artists. After the survey, I reported this phenomenon at our weekly group meeting, and we discussed and gathered ideas as a group of designers.
During this week, I read the blog article The Rules of Brainstorming Change When Artificial Intelligence Gets Involved from IDEO website. This blog gave me a better understanding of GPT – its values, limitations, and future possibilities. Turns out, GPT can also be a tool to help expand design thinking. I continued to delve into the blog reading How Would You Reimagine Learning? 5 Visions for Our Post-COVID Future. After reading it, I found that it explored the reshaping of learning models in the post-pandemic era. Based on the innovative practices in the education field during the pandemic, it put forward visions for future learning, which benefited me a lot. For example, the infinite expansion of learning space and flexible time management. I found that design thinking is not only for design works, but this kind of thinking can penetrate into every part of life and solve every problem in life.
Week 5
Tumblr media
In the fifth week, today in class we did an empathy map focused on local university students, and our team's homework for this week is to create personas. My group members and I divided the work, making personas with different consumption levels and age groups, and we also started preparing for next week's presentation.
This week, I studied reading Our biggest challenge? Lack of imagination’: the scientists turning the desert green by Steve Rose in 2021. It tells the story of an incredible desert greening project, a successful case that shows imagination is the most valuable asset for a designer – it's of great significance to the course of human development.
Week 6-7
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
In weeks 6 and 7, we gave our presentation and watched other groups' speeches, reporting on our phased outcomes and learning from other groups' research processes. I presented the persona research phase, announcing that we'd chosen 25-year-old high-income women as our primary clients. Achieving this milestone made me proud of my team.
Over these two weeks, I read the blog by IDEO in 2021, Channeling Solar Energy for Over 4M People Around the World, which introduces IDEO.org's collaboration with d.light on the d.light A1 solar lamp project. Aiming to provide affordable solar lighting solutions for underserved communities globally, this case showed me design thinking can integrate with energy development and business. It's clear that design thinking isn't just about aesthetic patterns— any substitution or experiment is a mindset.
Week 8
Tumblr media
In the eighth week, our group planned to visit the local gallery next week, hoping to let the staff review our proposal and offer development suggestions. This week, I drafted the first version of the logo, integrating elements of communication and art to be used in the templates created by teammates. During discussions, some members had disagreements due to different time schedules, but we actively communicated and quickly found a common free slot.
This week, I read Why Design Thinking Works by Jeanne Liedtka in 2018. The article explores why design thinking is effective, pointing out that it helps teams overcome human biases and behavioral barriers in innovation through structured processes. Coincidentally, our group faced similar issues this week—though we'd resolved them before I read this article, I hope to apply these insights to future work. Design thinking manifests differently in each person's mind; the key lies in how to activate and apply it to reach consensus with others.
Week9
Tumblr media
In weeks 9 and 10, I revised the logo design. Not only did the gallery staff provide modification suggestions, but I also noticed the original logo resembled a bird's head. The revised final logo won unanimous praise from the team, and we then started preparing for the group presentation.
Over these two weeks, I studied the reading How great design could fix the world’s “Wicked Problems” by Tim Brown with Barry Kats in 2019. The book states that design thinking can expand the scope of design to address business and social challenges, and its mindset can be mastered by anyone. In the past decade, design thinking has been widely adopted globally, but it also faces challenges like the exposure of technology's dark side. Designers need to use a "visible hand" to make technology serve humanity.
I believe the decade-long evolution of design thinking is a process of continuously breaking boundaries and assuming greater responsibilities. In an uncertain future, it is not just a method but a way of thinking that drives social progress, requiring continuous innovation and practice to tackle more complex challenges and create a more human-centered world.
Week 11,12
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
In weeks 11 and 12, we thoroughly memorized our scripts and delivered the presentation, showcasing our output: a simulated app designed to help artists enter the public spotlight in the click-driven era, preventing them from being overlooked.
Looking back, these 12 weeks of coursework and team-building have laid a solid foundation for my future work. Through systematic study of the curriculum framework and theoretical models, I’ve clarified core directions in interdisciplinary integration, user needs analysis, and creative implementation. Collaborating with team members from design, marketing, IT, and other backgrounds, we explored technical pathways, user behavior analysis methods, and visual communication strategies for our art consumption promotion project. This cross-disciplinary exchange not only expanded my thinking but also highlighted the importance of cross-field collaboration in solving complex problems. Going forward, I’ll approach learning with greater rigor, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical needs, and strive to leverage my professional strengths in team projects to achieve shared goals.

The day after GeekCon, Marcus asks Liberty on a date to a nightclub (at 10 in the morning!!). It is then, when Liberty sees the real Marcus for the first time, and JACKPOT. Who would have thought, that this guy would come to a GeekCon?! And hit it off with shy and awkward Liberty?
But even though Liberty is clumsy as hell, they danced in the nightclub and kissed goodbye later, and over the course of the week, they fell in love and finally landed in (Travis'!!!) bed together. This was on pirate's day, Arrr, where all hands were jabberin’ like salty seadogs, and in the heat o’ the moment, someone let slip somethin’ about “makin’ a new pirate”—blimey if I know what that be meanin’!
Liberty was drunk on lust and the details are kind of blurry afterwards.

Week 3-4 of Interviewing Different Businesses
Tumblr media
Me and my groupmates, Angel Jean Obsioma, Ian Gariel B. Ramas, and Francen P. Sellote, roam around the city to look for businesses that we can go to and ask the business owner or staff if we can ask a few questions regarding their business, so that we can gain knowledge and in-depth understanding about how business works, and we also asked permission if it is okay to take a picture.
Here is the list of the businesses we interviewed and the key information we gathered for week 3-4.
1. Greens and Sweets
Tumblr media
Greens and Sweets was established in the year 2021 when she was still a student, but the physical store was built around May in the year 2023, which is their main branch that is owned by Ms. Regina Jandoc. This business offers healthy foods, like salad, sandwiches, and rolls, and also cookies, which are sweet foods; that is why it is called Greens and Sweets. They also do catering and joined some food bazaars. Their other branch is located at Barra, which just opened recently, in July 2024. Their overall number of staff for both branches is 5.
During the process of starting her business, she initially began selling online, specifically through Instagram. She registered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), as she informed us that it is acceptable to register a business with the DTI even if it only operates online without a physical store. She added that she opted for nationwide registration, as she was hoping and dreaming for her business to expand nationally. She also secured her business permit, registered with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and obtained official receipts (OR), and they have a bookkeeper to handle these matters. And she mentioned that having a business location is crucial since it’s required to obtain a business permit.
2. Cuadro Ocho Incorporated
Tumblr media
Cuadro Ocho Incorporated was established on August 8, 1988, specializing in retailing and wholesale hardware and construction materials. This business is a corporation that is owned by a group of friends who are business-minded. They started first in Iligan, selling lumber, then eventually expanded into hardware and construction materials. Today, Cuadro Ocho Inc. boasts 11 branches, with the main branch located in Cebu. They have 10 staff only for the Max Y. Suniel Street, Corner Ipil Street branch alone and 300 staff for the entire branches.
The process that they go through to establish the business is to first get proper documents. Since this business is a corporation, they are required to have it SEC registered. Next is the BIR registered so that their business can legally issue official receipts (OR), file taxes, and even avail of tax credits or deductions. Another document is General Information Sheet (GIS), so as a SEC registered corporation, they are required to file GIS to maintain transparency and ensure compliance with the legal regulations. And lastly are the Articles of Incorporation, whose purpose is to outline basic details of the corporation, like its name and purpose, and are filed with the government, and the Bylaws are the set of internal rules as to how the corporation runs, like their meetings and decision-making.
The manager also shared with us that when deciding where to put the physical store, like any other business, they need to think and consider the foot traffic, as it helps assess if how many people will pass by that location or area. Also, think of the parking area, especially that their business can somehow involve the use of a car or a truck for their supplies, and the same goes to their customers.
3. FMN Agricultural Supply Inc.
Tumblr media
FMN Agricultural Supply Inc. is a feeds, fertilizers, and pesticides seller. This business is a corporation, so they are SEC registered, and their president is Ms. Nunez F. Concepcion. The brfanch that is in FJJP+6HP, V. Neri St., Cagayan de Oro City, was established on May 18, 2006, and has 5 staff. They have a total of 11 branches, and the main branch is in the Osmeña Extension, Cagayan de Oro City, which is their main supplier as this branch will only distribute their supplies to the other branches. And their warehouse is located in Baloy.
For their business to operate, the supervisor that we interviewed, who is Mrs. Guanita H. Tato, said that they have to register it as a SEC, also to DTI, and business permit. She also added that since they are selling fertilizers and pesticides, they need to have an FPA (Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority) license, as it is to assure that their products meet safety and quality standards set by the government. This license is also to ensure that the fertilizers and pesticides that they are selling are properly registered, tested, and approved to protect the environment and the health of farmers and consumers.
Additionally, they need to obtain a Fire Safety Inspection certificate and a Sanitary permit. They are also required to attend some seminars, like those conducted by the Red Cross and BOSH (Basic Occupational Safety and Health). She also informed us that their documents need to be renewed annually, but as for the FPA, it is every 3 years.
4. Color Mix Paint Center
Tumblr media
Color Mix Paint Center is a paint business that is owned by Mrs. Teresita Cabutad and was established in 2012. Her business is DTI-registered since it is a sole proprietorship. The paint center is located at Castro Street, Cagayan de Oro City, where she and her other staff operate. Their operating hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Mrs. Cabutad also mentioned that her supplies come all the way from Manila.
In terms of compliance, she emphasized that her business is not only DTI-registered but also has the necessary permits to operate. This includes registration with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), securing a barangay clearance, and maintaining a Sanitary Permit to ensure they meet health and safety standards. These requirements are to ensure that her business operates and adheres to the regulations.
5. Jay-Q Grains Rice Trading
Tumblr media
Jay-Q Grains Rice Trading is a rice business owned by Mr. Garciano Baldelamar. It is located at Castro St., Cagayan de Oro City, and has 2 staff. Their operating hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM every day. Their supplier of rice is from Cotabato, and they also have imported.
As for their compliance to operate the business, they are DTI and BIR registered. They also have barangay clearance, Sanitary permit, and Business Permit Certificate. And the all around staff that we interviewed, who is Ms. Analya Tagaro, also showed us the official receipt from the Philippine Red Cross, which is where a staff member was a participant for training in Occupational First Aid and Adult Basic Life Support with CPR, which is intended for non-medical personnel. She also mentioned that they also have to renew their documents every year.

Week 1
CGI
Week 1
This lesson we watched some graphic animation trailers, mostly at Saul bass. We had a selection of books to look at and I chose lord of the flies because ei likes the themes of
So I am currently key framing this scene. I am keeping in mind that I want to incorporate follow through and a minute level of squash and stretch as I want the characters to move more realistically than exadurated.
human nature and savagery and felt that I would visually be able to symbolise this. I also liked the themes of boyhood, which implies a level of innocence and nievety.
For my home work I will be reaserching into lord of the flies
Week 2
At home I reaserched into lord of the flies and specifically its symbols such as barbarism and civilisation, loss of innocence, the nature of evil, human nature nd free will, I tried making some sporadic images of things that it brought to mind, as well as different movements. So I filmed different movements some quick and hars and some softer, from what I have gathered from the story us far there are some juxtapositions and dramatic changes in the story, this could be shown through passing or harsh sharp imagery.
For this lesson we had an introduction guide into after effects where we where given some royalty free videos to help us along the way as well.
This lesson we looked into working with the puppet tool, where we manipulated text, I figured this would also be handy when working the limbs.
I found the puppet tool generally easy and didn’t experience many problems with it
At home I continues on my research as I felt like I still had quite a vague idea of the story
Week3
This week we looked into motion in motion graphics, I found his particularly interesting as movement is something that can be applied to all parts of the animation including the text, image and even sound
For instance sound can match the movement to create a specific atmosphere that the animator is trying to convey.
More specifically we looked into different movements and what the conveyed / symbolised, for instance linker movement represents progression, circular movements represent perhaps recurring happenings in the story line. I gathered from this that since are task is making a trailer we have to hint and forebode rather than blatantly show the reader what is going to happen, knowing that my strengths lie in illustration bovever I know that this is something that I want to enhance on to fordhadow / forebode.
This weekend I will be mainly working on my concept art.
Week 4
This weekend worked on my imagery that I drew from the story like and started to compose snapshots of what my story board and what some of the movements / what images I was gonna use from my concept designs . After doing reaserch into the story I desided that the conch shell was a symbol used throughout the story as a motif of the imbalance of power, for instance one had to hold the conch shell to speak, this rule later became ignored as the boys started resulting to barberry and desided nort to speak and do whatever they wanted.
This week we looked at types of cuts in film such as the standard hard cut, or cut o n action, after my lesson I looked over these and thought what would be useful in my animatic. I felt that a smash cut could be used effectively ( transitioning between two contrasting shots) for dramatic effect.
I want the start of my animatic to be smooth and gentle, then gradually speed up and turn into chaos just as the story does
Now I have do my story board, as stoary boards go it usually takes me 3 to 4 ruff attempts and samples to come to the right one.
Week 5
Over the weekend I make my story board whitch I moved around a lot as seen on my slides and began making my animations and images for after effects and will try and get this all done in the next few days. For this I will be mainly working on proctreate as it is more efficient and less time consuming.
For my concept art I did a lot of it will watcher colour and ink as seen on my slides, I want to curate this same gritty texture through textures that I have made and the use of new pens I have brought on procriate to immatate brush strokes and printing. I am running behind so I need to use my time wisely so I can get onto my animatic as soon as possible.
Week 6- ill and not in
Unfortunately I am ill so will have to attempt the animatic at a later date.
Week 7
This week we began with maya, I found it difficult to get back into since it has been nearly a year since I have used the software but throughout the lesson I found myself picking stuff back up. We followed a tutorial of curating an ikea dining room step by stem, I focused on the tools and what they did for future reference. Found the mesh tool hard to use at first but after using a few times I got the hang of it. And was able to produce the room in that lesson.
Week 8 – not in as I was in A and E- allergic reaction to some hair dye.
Week 9
This week since I wasn’t here for the last lesson because I was in a and e I had to catch up on last lessons work. Witch was making glasses, with a combination of watching videos and help from the teacher I was able to do this. I find with maya often you should mirror sides to they are the same in size and length so when using a mesh tools it wont go wonky.
Week 10
This week I began my room for my character, I planed last lesson the lay out of the room, and how I added a few separate elements to the room such as a bunny and more sewing stuff to the room to reflect my character and her environment, the bunny being for her son, and the sewing kit for her and her son ( she fixes things showing her stoic character) I managed to get help when making the layout of the room, to combat this I watch the YouTube videos on maya to help guide me.
Week 11
This week I managed to retreated work on maya I thought I had lost.i then began on making my set of draws for my character, when I ried to add a mesh tool to something that was unequally beveled it didn’t work. To combat this I first added the mesh tool and then beveled.
I watch some videos and used how to make a bowl as reference for my candle holder, to complicate this all I need to do is make a handle, add the candle.
From here I will make the bed bunny and sewing kit, for this I will need to learn how to make fabric. Then I will and colour and texture to everything and have the candle be the main worse of light.
Week 12
This week I am continuing to make my assets I have already make my candle and cupboard along with a mirror.
I am now trying to curate a needle and tread, I first was tying to make the tread however I wasn’t able to snap my face to my vertex curve, so for now I had the idea that I would make a basket full of needles and threads. The threads being thread wheels that I have already make, all I need to do now is make the basket and duplicate.
Week 13
This is my last week, I have had a few attempts at my after effects but I properly started it yesterday, however I am going to have to do my after effects again today as some of the files got delegated and files got moved to different comps so it was all mixed around.
Although I have been set back by a day reducing my animatic did means I was able to root out some problems. For instance I was trying to use a puppet tool on a lined object which as difficult as it only moved sorta in lined to combat this on procreate I was able to use an extreamply opaque paint brush and then turn down the opacity this way when transporting in into after effects it was still stranparent so I could see the textured background, but still use the puppet tool on it as a solid object ( the object was an arm and a hand holding the conch shell)
The puppet tool came in very handy in bless I was able to manipulate still images to add a slight bit oof movement here and there.
This week although I havent got as many assets as I would like to be done I have attempted to try and texture them all.
I ran into some real problems when texturing as some of the objects just weren’t letting me apply the texture, I tried to search this up however I couldn’t find anything on it.
There is a possibility that I wil not get this room done in time for the deadline, I will attempt what I can and make other things in the project better to avoid a massive dip in my grade.

Week3-6

COURSERA WEEK4_Graphic representation
I have been continuing my research for 4 weeks now ‘How does the duration of sleep impact personality’ focusing this time on the characteristics of my variables and their graphic representations.
I reload the dataset Add Health, set variables as numeric, run a distribution of each, manage the missing data, split my main variable [H1GH51]- How many hours of sleep to you usually get-  in categories  (H1GH51 becomes sl1group4) as done and described in WEEK3.
Now I am ready for specific exercise for Week 4.
I ask Python for descriptive statistics for the H1GH51 variable, completed with median and mode parameter and graphic representation.
Tumblr media
Program result is:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This variable is a unimodal distribution with a minimum value of 1 and maximum value of 20 hours. The mean is calculated to be 7.8 hours of sleep, close to the median equal to 8 hours.
8 is also the value with the highest frequency (mode).
I ask for representative graphic for the other variables I deal with : [H1GH52]Do you usually get enough sleep
[H1FS4] You felt that you were as good as other people
[H1SF11] You were happy
Using the code:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These graphs give a positive trend for the surveyed population.  It shows that a large majority of the subjects believe they had enough hours of sleep and they felt as good as other people and were happy a lot of time or all of the time. We can try to connect with the duration of sleep, to examine if the numbers of hours of sleep could impact the answer regarding the amount of sleep (enough or not) and also the feeling about self esteem and happiness
As my hypothesis is based rather on the fact that a short or very short period of sleep can influence the perception of happiness or self-esteem, I keep the variable [H1GH51] in quantitative format rather than in 4 categories. First, I ask for a bivariate graph to explore the relation between hoyurs of sleep and the perception of the duration (enough or not)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As it can be anticipated, the lower the hours of sleep, the lower the perception of having enough hours of sleep.
Let’s examine the impact on the perception of happiness and self-esteem :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Conclusion:
For subjects having only one hour of sleep, this seems to impact on their happiness, but not really in their self-esteem. Beyond one hour of sleep, happiness is not really impacted and keep a good level (sometimes and a lot of time, until most of the time for subjects who sleep more than 7hours).
The worst self-esteem is observed, surprisingly, in subjects who sleep a lot (14 or 15 hours by night) but becomes excellent in subjects who sleep 20 hours by night.

"Unveiling Social Media's Interplay: Connection, Homophily, and Algorithms"
Tumblr media
During adolescence, the strong urge to fit in goes hand in hand with the significant role of smartphone communication apps in the lives of young people. These apps are used by teens for both private and public chats with peers, but alongside this interaction, they struggle with the idea of being excluded by peers. This exclusion, involving intentional omission from groups and sometimes self-imposed distance is emotionally distressing and threatens their sense of belonging, autonomy, and overall development (Marengo et al., 2021).
A crucial factor that clarifies the connection between peer exclusion and emotional turmoil is the "fear of missing out" (FoMO), a type of social anxiety characterized by a strong desire to stay socially engaged. FoMO amplifies sensitivity to stress arising from feelings of neglect and negative reactions from peers online, and it is linked to excessive usage of social media and heightened emotional difficulties. This heightened FoMO, stemming from worries about losing social ties, can escalate emotional challenges. Ultimately, this emphasizes how the exclusion from social circularly affects adolescents' psychological well-being, as it jeopardizes their fundamental need for a sense of belonging (Marengo et al., 2021).
Tumblr media
Birds of a feather flock together..
Per Dictionary.com (2023), Homophily is the tendency to form strong social connections with people who share one’s defining characteristics, such as age, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, personal beliefs, etc.,
Homophily uncovers groups of users with likes and similar traits to interact and share content more frequently. Homophily reflects the tendency for individuals to connect with those who share their interests. Various studies have demonstrated that the degree of homophily among users influences the predictability of user profiles, aiding link prediction and product recommendations (De Salve, et al., (2018).
Tumblr media
Algorithm:
The importance of individuals' interactions with algorithms extends beyond affecting users' initial encounters. This is due to the interconnected nature of these systems, leading to potential long-term outcomes as they reshape the very foundation of social networks. Most of the online content individuals encounter is tailored using specialized algorithms implemented by the platforms they interact with. From a technical perspective, an "algorithm" can be described as a "series of steps taken to solve a particular problem or accomplish a well-defined outcome." (Lewandowsky et al., 2023).
The importance of interactions that individuals have with algorithms goes beyond shaping their immediate experiences. Due to the interconnected nature of such systems, these interactions can also bring about enduring effects by reshaping the fundamental framework of social networks. Most online content individuals encounter is sifted through proprietary algorithms used by the platforms they interact with. From a technical standpoint, an "algorithm" can be defined as a series of steps taken to solve a particular problem or attain a specific outcome (Lewandowsky et al., 2023).

Summer is very outgoing. She makes friends with everyone (except her own roommates!). She met Bob Pancakes at one of his food stall sales and they stayed in contact since. Winnie Harlow is their neighbor, and Summer was immediately friends with both Winnie and her son Lukas.

Platformer Playtesting
To cap off the final installment of my platformer concept we were asked to playtest and receive feedback. As mentioned previously, my main mechanics were the double jump, wall jump, and parry; and though the platformer was not complete, there was a potential game there.
Some reoccurring points I received were:
To obviously complete the game :/
To clean up the wall jumping mechanics as it seemed finicky and clumpy - this could have been in regards to the controls or the animation of the character.
The double jump mechanic was perfect, felt easy and smooth.
The level design was clean and simple - if it was longer it would be more ideal
All other advice was a matter of aesthetics, but since these graphics were predetermined I paid no attention to the comments about the character - if I were to make this into a full game, the implementation of my own textures would be a prominent goal.
I am very proud of how the quick attempt of a platformer turned out, I am also very excited to improve my knowledge on said topic in the future!

Hey thrill-seekers with a goofy twist,
Your showtime performances how wow-ed the crowd! All that juggling and lion taming really showed this week. This week everyone really impressed me! We really are a bunch of clowns, with talent <3
Tumblr media
Onto the results! This week I was looking for unique ideas, that you would see if you'd visit any sort of circus!
Charline Morel by @cyazurai
Tumblr media
Well, at the circus we have clowns, acrobats, lion tamers, sword swallowers, the ringmaster, and all sorts of other things… but one of the less common sideshows was one of Charlie’s absolute favorites. It’s full of adrenaline and a one-of-a-kind fear of death - the daredevil. It was a rush of fear; a person mounted upon the back of a death trap, hurtling around a circular wall, only held aloft by centrifugal force and a lot of control over the machine beneath them. Was it a lack of fear that drove them forward, or a fear of standing still? Of being motionless, of boredom? Whatever it was… it was fascinating and terrifying to behold.

When I first joined the circus, I was just a kid running away from a family that didn't love me. I was so desperate to find myself, but all I found was him. He was a contortionist, able to fit in all sorts of unusual boxes, but that wasn't where his true talent lied. I'm not sure he even knew where he belonged or who he really was, he spent so long morphing into something he wasn't. Though that didn't stop me from falling for the shape he had woven himself into that week. He took me under his wing and taught me all his tricks, pretty soon I was just as good at shifting away from my problems, too. He taught me to contort, and I let him morph me into something I wasn't either. I tied myself in knots, I've broken bones, and shifted features for him. Once he left me I was such a strange shape that I didn't fit in anywhere. But I learned, I lived through the pain, and instead of changing who I was I let it shape me. As strange as I may seem to others, I am a beautiful creature, and I don't need anyone to tell me differently. A gorgeous abnormality. So hear me when I say, don't bend, don't break, believe in yourself first.

Madame Zelena had been able to speak to spirits since she was a little girl. The other children in the orphanage had mocked and feared her for it. Unable to find a place in normal society, Zelena eventually found a home in the circus, using her gift as an act. The audiences gasped as she relayed messages from their dearly departed, thinking it was all part of the show. But Zelena knew the truth. The dead were restless, and they refused to leave her in peace.

"Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, I'm stuck in the middle with you" - Stealers Wheel. Ember: "As soon as I saw this week's prompt I knew that I had to do a shoot where I'm portraying a clown. Circus theme aside, you may wonder "Why a clown specifically?". Clowns are often feared and at times rejected by wider society due to the fact that their arduously painted expressions evoke a primal fear and uneasiness in people; the reason for this? People are coded to gauge other people's moods via their expressions and body language and clown's expressions do not truly reflect the paint wearer's mood or intention. As a non-binary person who is often viewed under a skeptical lense and even distrusted at times due to my own chosen form of self expression and identity, I thought it important to align myself with a group of people who are also frequently misunderstood and alienated due to the way/s they choose to express themselves"

In a forgotten corner of the world, a girl found herself trapped in a life she never chose. Within the colorful chaos of the circus, she danced on tightropes, defied gravity, and painted smiles on faces she couldn't touch. Each night, as the applause faded, tears stained her pillow. But deep inside, a spark flickered, refusing to be extinguished. With relentless determination, she honed her talents in secret. One moonlit eve, she vanished from the circus, leaving behind a note of gratitude. In the spotlight of her own destiny, she bloomed, no longer a captive, but a liberated soul, forever free.

Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Pearlie recruited into a flying circus. She juggled, did acrobatics, talked with animals that couldn’t talk back— she grew to love her life there. How wacky and magical it all was. However, after doing the same thing after a long while, she wished upon a shooting star for something more new and magical. The opportunity came the next day, with the sight of a flying elephant high in the sky. They grew to be happy partners at the circus— flying all over. Pearlie named him Dumbo and they grew to be happy partners at the circus.
