✦ Got My Chaos Automatic by LetTheMusicMoveYou / @letthemusicmoveyou28
[E, 3k, Louis/Zayn/Liam, fic post]
Louis shrugs his shoulders as nonchalantly as he can manage in his aroused state. “Let you stay in my house didn’t I?” He narrows his eyes at the spliff still between Liam’s fingers. “Let you smoke my weed. Seems like a fair trade to me.” Liam raises a brow challengingly. His expression is mostly unimpressed, but even from the other side of the room, Louis can still see the glint in Liam’s eyes. He likes it when Louis makes him work for it too. Zayn chuckles darkly. “Looks like someone came home with an attitude. What’s wrong Lou? No one on the road with you that could put you in your place hmm?” (Or the one where Louis comes home from tour feeling exhausted, yet antsy. Luckily, Liam and Zayn are there to put him back together).

GEOFFERY MATAUTIA
Samoan Creative, based in Auckland, New Zealand, focuses on documenting Pacific peoples and the South Auckland community.
He uses lighting to create authenticity and connection, often highlighting the essence of his subjects. Natural light, especially the warm tones of sunlight, gives his portraits a softer feel. Many of his personal photos are taken in everyday settings like front or backyards, inviting viewers into the world of his subjects to foster intimacy.
Geoffery also plays with light and shadow to add depth and texture to his images, making them more visually engaging. For staged or commercial shots, he uses controlled lighting to highlight specific details like clothing.

Week 3 – SDL
After reading the article: 'Relating Social Contextual Knowledge to Graphic Designers'Practice, by Stan Mauger.' I highlighted and annotated my reflections about what it was intending to communicate.
I thought this piece was really interesting, it spoke about how an individuals graphic design process is influenced by their social structure, internal culture of the firm they work for and the wider field of their practice. It analysed two pathways of different designers entering the field and how these differing experiences may impact how they work in their future practice.
It is becoming increasingly important for designers to develop awareness and understanding from a social sciences point of view. It is very useful if a designer understands the people they are communicating to, the social contexts, the environment, the societies, the complex issues and communities which these people operate within. Having social and cultural knowledge is vital to design practice.
I also study marketing so thought it was cool how it spoke about how graphic designers (the ones making) and marketers (the ones planning) should work together to share knowledge to better understand the audience so they together can achieve a more intentional and succesful output.

Some Week Three Brainstorms, Lists and Mindmaps to help organise my ideas.
Week three was a chaotic week and it was hard to think at points because the issue is so complex that it is difficult to narrow down an angle to speak to the issue from.
During this week I defined my audience. I narrowed it down to music’s influence on High school aged boys in New Zealand.
This will allow me to tackle the subject with more detail and clarity in a way it has never been seen before. I spoke to George and Meighan about narrowing the topic down and I was pretty hesitant to do so as it could narrow me into a space I couldn’t work out of.
I realised that I can narrow it down at this point and expand it up a bit further down the track to give more voice to the issue.
I shifted the idea from analysing traditional masculine ideals and expectations across time to creating a self reflective project which critiques how masculinity is portrayed in music and the effects this could have on young people. It allows young people to self reflect about the voices they idolise in current music culture.

Brief 9, Uge 3.

ZANELE MUHOLI
South African artist Zanele Muholi explores themes of identity, race, and sexuality, showcasing the nuances of her experience as a Black South African queer woman. For example, in her series ”Somnyama Ngonyama," meaning "Hail Dark Lioness," Muholi uses dramatic lighting, bold makeup, and stark contrasts to emphasise her skin and the elements of costume that adhere to her context. Confronting stereotypical representations of African identity.
Muholi's also uses her body to take ownership of her identity, displaying vulnerability while also showcasing strength and resilience. Furthermore, she uses her cultural attire, makes direct eye contact, and poses in ways that are both confrontational and reflective, signalling her fight for self-determination and recognition.
LIGHTING
High-contrast black-and-white lighting is crucial to her visual narrative.
Avoids harsh artificial light and actually states that she only works outdoors. In many of her photos, she uses just enough soft light to highlight the contours of the face and create shadow and depth.
She exaggerates the pigment of black skin tones in post-production.

3.1 – Positionality Task

Feedback from Colleagues:
I spoke to my classmates about my worry in tackling this issue without getting cancelled.
I want to be as respectful as possible and analyse these issues from a range of perspectives while removing my own views in a sense. But I discussed how my identity is always portrayed in a negative light so how am I going to discuss it in relation to such a controversial issue.
They recommended that I go to watch the Barbie movie to understand perspectives of the patriarchy through a feminist lens.
They also recommended that they don’t think my take on things is outrageously wild and makes sense.
They said once I explained that by empowering men in the right way we would also empower women it made sense to them and they said that I may need to do a lot of explaining in my exegesis to ensure my perspective is correctly portrayed.

Some ideas I had during my shift at work that I sketched down on the back of some business cards.
I want to press and spray paint the edge of the pages with words. (This may require a lot of pages).
I could design an interactive IG filter which could be used on social media to break the cycle of toxic masculinity in music and culture and allow boys to show their support for breaking toxic ideals.

Week Three
Following our previous band meeting I created a stage plan and queried Cassie and Amber on any equipment I may have forgotten from the list. Amber pointed out that I should include and extra mic for her as she sings on one song. So I added that to the list.
We were then given more song options to choose from, these were; Born This Way - Lady Gaga, One Day Like This - Elbow and Royals - Lorde.
We felt Born This Way was the only suitable choice for our set list and originally I played bass, however I stated to the band that I would prefer to play guitar at some point. This lead to James taking up the drums and Amber R going on bass which gave me the opportunity to play my main instrument!
Since I had been practising the bass line I was not comfortable with the chords on the new song, so when I went home I looked up the chords and practised to the original song. Not only did this make me more confident with the structure of the song but it also allowed me to add on my own lead part to go over top of the chords. My personal target for next week is to practice the bass lines using my fingers and to not use a pick anymore.

WEEK THREE: Product Innovation
Effective Approach

Our team come up with another strategy to gain participants. First, we expanded our target consumers as we have observe most of the student have online classes especially in CEA department. Instead of interviewing, we hand out survey papers and more audience are willing to participate. This approach improves our team productivity and we have been more innovative as participants see a potential use of our product.
