BIG fan of "tracing 3d models of cars to avoid having to freehand them" do you have any other good shortcuts? Honest question. I wanna do my comic projects one day but I have chronic pain & bad eyes so I need all the help I can get

literally take every shortcut you can.. trace photos and 3d models or manipulate them to complement your style

save frequently used color palettes, char references, etc somewhere so they can be pulled up quickly (like in materials folder in CSP)

make a doc with all your chars refs in one file and keep it open in the bg so u dont have to open 20 separate pics

figure out character outfits ahead of time

do not spend extra time trying to make one panel perfect. ppl will only look at it for 10 seconds tops and nobody cares if it's not a masterpiece

color-pick environment/background colors straight from a photo of a similar area

dont like drawing something that appears frequently in comic? download or make a brush for it (i have a glasses stamp brush bc i hate drawing them more than you will ever understand)

my entire life motto is halfass everything and cut corners as often as possible. never put 100% effort into anything. i did very poorly in school btw

29: The sound they make when they’re in pain.

If it’s a ‘fresh hurt’ after an attack, obviously, he’s loud. Not a shriek but a yell, usually a curse - a good ‘motherfucker!’. Imagine a hit to the ribs, a knife slice that leaves a line - he immediately throws a hand up to catch the attacker’s jaw while yelling ‘fuck!’

If he’s trying to get away: quiet. He holds where he’s hurt tight and grits his teeth, locks his jaw. You can hear him grunt and whine and the gasps he gives as he struggles.

If it’s a fun, naughty kind of pain? Just moans. lbr. lbr. lbr.

30: How they react to being scared.

he tries not to let people see him scared and he’s fairly good at it, but if you genuinely manage to terrify him a lot of his response is physical. He doesn’t waste time with words, and he doesn’t plead - you’d have to have him thoroughly beat, pinned down, intending to kill someone he loves or do something truly heinous to them or him before he begs for his freedom.

If he’s afraid and not trapped, he fights and he goes for the weakest spots on a person, like the eyes or a good punch to the throat. He’ll grab ears and bend fingers back and dig his nails into heels if it gives him even a second to get the edge or get away.

i love gage SO much that i still dont know if i can bear to kill him off in my future nuka world fic. one of my alt ideas is just having stunbolt take gage with him and flee back home to maine where his terrible raider family's pre-war ghoul matriarch chews him out for getting in over his dumb head but also welcomes his raider husband into the clan

Okay but like I know he is bad, and he doesn’t do anything to show willingness for redemption in canon, but consider this - I love him and I am known for rewriting and fixing stories left and right and I will absolutely not kill him off because he is also a very good and funny character :/

in my onion i think 2013 carrie gets kinda brushed off too easily as it *does* bring something to the table in the form of a) big budget & newer tech making the last chunk of the film really bitchin and b) the social media angle for once being actually yknow. a plausible and interesting addition imo (Carrie Epic Cringe Fail Viral Video 2k13). but it also needed more of its own shit maybe? so it could exist w/out the context of the original? idk!! movie words!!

i feel like... what the 2013 film does is just update the original and i think theres some value to that but id really love for a film to totally break free of the original and not cling to the plot? bcs the remake’s plot is very close to the original but i would really love for someone to like. not worry so much about living in the shadow of the original and make it their own yknow.

15. Does your oc have a horse/other mount? A pet? How did they get this animal? If they were given the animal, do they have the money to maintain it? How careful/careless are they with their animal? What do they do with their pets while adventuring, especially on dangerous quests?

I am going to do this about Volnarto! Because I am writing him currently and he is the only one that canonically has a pet, aside from Thalis but she got her time to shine!

Volnarto has a cat, a short haired oriental cat, with really big funny ears and crossed eyes and he got her to keep him company after moving to Alinor and living in a one room apartment in an Inn. It’s a lonely life to be an accountant in a bank with no family and away from any friends you might’ve had. She is well kept and fed and his pay does cover all her expenses so she is a happy cat, however Volnarto isn’t really having it easy to live off an accountant’s paycheck. And for most of his adventures, she stays indoors and is looked after by the Inn’s keepers and those who clean his room routinely.

During the Summerset story (which is Volnarto’s introduction story) he finds a baby gryphon separated from it’s mother and the baby imprints on him as he tries to return him back to the nest. Seeing that the baby won’t leave he decides to keep it and the gryphon follows him around everywhere and made a pillow nest in his apartment on his desk. However he is not allowed to have the gryphon with him in the apartment so he is sort of lying and sneaking him in and out of the Inn. He also teaches him to fly! Very very patiently! I head canon with Nat that eventually the gryphon will grow big enough so that their character Varo (who is Volnarto’s like adoptive daughter) and Volnarto can ride it around and it will be just a huge friendly dog like bird! 

Oh and the gryphon and cat don’t really get along, but they coexist and Volnarto is thankful cause he already has one problematic person on his hands (Varo)

𝘿𝙍𝘼𝙒 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝙉𝙊𝙉 𝘿𝙊𝙈𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙉𝙏 𝙃𝘼𝙉𝘿 | 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙖 𝙏𝙚 𝙏𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙩 𝙀𝙭 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙨 — I was watching "Event Horizon" yesterday, and I did two drawings based on it. The first one with Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne) being shown sights of hell by the Weirbeast (Sam Neill) was for a challenge to draw with one's non dominant hand as suggested by @shrek_rao_arts_ — so I drew it with my left hand. It was an interesting experience to do so. I drew with pencil so I could focus on spreading the shade and I could erase also. It was much slower, where I found my mind probably thinking ahead and the hand trying to catch up to do what I wanted. And the final result is not as refined. But I am still happy with the way it came out. I would encourage other artists also to try this, it kind of slows things down and makes you think more about your own drawing process. I'd already tagged a few artist friends on Stories, will do so again in the comments on this post. Swipe to see a timelapse, which could have been framed better but it shows the process. Approximately 1 hour of drawing condensed to 30 seconds. I forced myself to erase also with left hand only. The second drawing was done with right hand only, and with ballpoint pen. This was a quick sketch showing the former "Event Horizon" Captain with his eyes ripped out, saying that Latin phrase meaning "Save yourself from Hell". "Event Horizon" is an underrated horror movie from 1997. Directed by Paul W S Anderson, it has gorgeous visuals, fantastic set design and beautiful cinematography. Horror fans will also be pleased to know that it contains a good amount of effective blood / gore effects which contribute to the creepy atmosphere. I'll write more about it later, when I post the scans of both drawings on my @dailymoviesketch account. The last slide is a meme I made, since in this movie, the explanation of a faster than light travel is the same as how it's depicted in "Interstellar" (the pen passing through paper analogy).
