What’s the difference between imprinting and marking? Why is imprinting not that big a deal as compared to marking ?

imprinting is just the act of let's say "finding" your soulmate, whereas marking is the act of claiming a person as yours.

i'd say both are big deals in different ways. if you imprint, that means your body (or let's say, the "inner wolf", when it comes to werewolves) has already recognised the person (or people,like hyunlix and their partner) you imprinted on as your soulmate, so you basically would only ever want them from then on.

claiming is a big deal because it's essentially like marriage, but with a supernatural element to it. Chris hasn't claimed his girl because in his mind she shouldn't have to feel tied down to him, not because he marked her, nor because he had imprinted. basically not unless, you know, she was ready for it. Chris has been ready to claim his girl (or even get married) since, like, the second he kissed her the first time. but, like he told her in Love is Easy, he's wired differently. he's able to understand that for humans it isn't as easy as it is for a wererwolf, you know?

with Chris and his girl, the reason imprinting in itself wasn't a big deal, was because Chris thought it was only affecting him. he hadn't realised his pretty girl was affected by it, too, until Afraid to Lose You. that's why he was giving her the Guilty Dog look when she was telling him how she felt, because i can imagine in his head he was all like "oh, shit, i've fucked her up..." cuz, you know, like he said, in his mind she should be able to leave if she ever wanted to, but he hadn't accounted for the thing being mutual.

i suppose finding out about it (about imprinting) now is less of a big deal because they've been in a relationship for a while.
