An update to my involvement with dead things (GEORGIA PEEPS- you should read this! This applies to EVERYONE in the state of GA)

Well, unbeknownst to me, Georgia (where I reside) changed their laws in 2022 regarding the selling and purchasing of any animal native to the state (GA Code 27-1-29).

I am not longer allowed to sell, nor purchase any animal that is labeled as a native animal in the state of Georgia.

This goes for any animal that is harvested outside of Georgia. It is illegal for me to purchase anything from anyone outside of Georgia, even if the animal was obtained legally in another state.

There are NO special permits I can obtain to legally sell native animal skulls, bones, or parts thereof. I have spoken to DNR regarding this. There are a select few animals who are not protected under this new law (coyotes, beaver, muskrat to name a few…)

This does put me in a hole, as I normally only sell native wildlife that is legally obtained. DNR advised I can legally hold a personal collection of native wildlife, but as stated, no selling or purchasing them.

I will still be selling, cleaning and collecting, but will have to now do so with domesticated animals or native animals considered a nuisance/not protected.

Just wanted to give an update to what I’ve been having to adapt to! I have several hundred dollars worth of raw heads I’ve purchased from animals legally trapped that I’ll now have to just toss out pretty much.

Amazing incredible astounding stuff at the Chicago Oddities and Curiosities expo! The first pic is my personal purchases, there was so much I wanted but simply couldn't afford. So much taxidermy! Someday I want to splurge on a really fancy wet specimen for display, but for now I'm pretty happy with my little bottled octopus.

Thinking about parasites.... Being such a good little breeding ground for you to cultivate whatever specimens you most want to collect, no matter the damage to my body. Every part of me being infected, parasites in my brain, my intestines, my heart.... Maybe even my reproductive organs 👉👈

Sorry for taking so long, life been a bitchhh.

But dear lord, wouldn't that be cute? Seeing you all bloated and helpless as I have you injest capsule after capsule of parasite eggs. Just imagining them swelling inside of you is quite arousing. Just a marvel and great breeding ground! I do quite like roundworms, but I think my work collection might need to spread out with tapeworms, ringworms, and other parasites. Maybe some larva eggs that will travel up your blood stream to that pesky thinking brain of yours too! There are a plethora of parasites.. let's see how long you last, my pet.

This post is not educational on disability or queerness like my usual posts. This post is instead, me talking about a special interest!

One of my main special interests is taxidermy, oddities, etc. Things like that.

My special interest in oddities started when I was very small, but it really got big around 3 or so years ago when my pet beetle, Impulse, died. I researched how to preserve him in the form of a wet specimen, I did so, and now I still have him!

I also purchase taxidermy, as its turned into a collection.

I want to make it very clear that all of the specimens I own are ETHICALLY sourced. I do not support sport killing. I do not support that at all. Every single specimen I own and ever will own died naturally.

My favorite type of taxidermy is soft mounts. I dont currently possess any, but later this month I will be receiving a soft mount red fox (who I bought a cute little collar for already). I am very excited.

Currently I own a wet specimen of a beetle, a wet specimen of a rat (extremely pretty, might post more about him later), and some teeth.

I used to own a taxidermy duckling, too.

Oddities are, well, odd, of course. So I do understand why people find stuff like this weird or uncomfy, but it makes me really happy so I wanted to talk about it.

Skulls and wet specimen I own.

All were ethically sourced. Guinea pig was feeder and skull was sold. Rabbits are wild and found, crystals grown manually. Three skulls were purchased.

All are genuine and not replicas.

Teeth are of rabbit, my aunt has a rabbit with dental issues, who needs teeth trimming. I was given teeth.

Wet specimen is ethically sourced, a foetal rabbit, most likely DOA. They are a dianphonised specimen. Purchased from German seller.

Wikipedia lists it as : Diaphonization (or diaphonisation), also known as clearing and staining, is a staining technique used on animal specimens that first renders the body of the animal transparent by bathing it in trypsin, and then stains the bones and cartilage with various dyes, usually alizarin red and alcian blue.

In order they are: Guinea pig, rabbit, rabbit with crystals and front is rabbit teeth.

Displayed in cabinet, only windowsill for photo.
