RDJ on Off Camera #200: Highlights
excerpts from the interview under the read more

(you can buy the digital magazine with the full transcript here)
On his start as an actor, and getting to a point where he has more confidence in what he does:
[...] what’s important right now is that you know I am mirroring your physicality [points to Sam’s posture in chair], which by the way, I don’t know if I did it consciously or not. Son of a bitch...now I lost my rhythm. A lot of life for me is monkey see monkey do. Whether it’s development, or if you’re in a situation that’s very stressful. Like right now, I think if you took either of our biometrics, we would be in a really sweet zone because we have a love for each other. We’ve also created an ease by doing creative stuff together. We always like the result, but more so, we like the process. Whenever you engage with a new group of people in a process, it’s like you’re going to a new school.
And whatever part of my personality was set, it was fractured enough to be useful in a creative medium, but there’s also a work ethic born out of desperation that I would not wish on an enemy. It was just something that I was outfitted with. No matter how you slice it, as I was learning, going along, making mistakes, and noticing how Michael Apted or John Hughes operate, I would go, “Oh, I like that. That looks like it would feel good to be able to do it like that.”
On making the first Iron Man:
[...] I remember for the screen test, I was playing it a little straighter. There weren’t a bunch of funny lines. I was probably like half out- of-my-body hoping I got the part. And then, in executing the film, we found this tone that was really somewhere between mine, Jon’s, and Kevin [Feige]’s sensibilities. Gwyneth Paltrow would come in and go, “Oh, testosterone fest! Can we talk about what’s true north? What the reality of these relationships are?” And Jon would be like, “That’s right. Everybody stop and listen to her.” There was this great sense of each of us being corralled by passing the talking stick and deferring to each other like any good community. The amalgamation of all those little moments of thoughtfulness and open-mindedness are suddenly what this character is remembered for. I look back on it, and I go, “I don’t know how I did that. I don’t think I was in a good mood that day. I think I was really tired. I think my hair looked ridiculous.” And yet, the great thing about cinema, is you forget all of that as the viewer.
On rebuilding, Chaplin, and mentors:
[...] Which makes me think about the coolest letter I ever got. I won’t say where I was...prison. But I got it from Jodie Foster. This was years after Chaplin had come out, and she wrote me a letter about how relevant Chaplin’s life was. The precision, the dedication, what he had to do to be who he was in the epoch that he was. He was such an innovator, a genius. You can’t not believe that Charlie Chaplin was a genius. Some people would even say that he created pathos in cinema. That’s kind of a big deal. But Jodie wrote me this letter basically reminding me that, like Chaplin, I had already gone through the motions of understanding what kind of personality would preserve in a hostile environment. It was a new version of red scares, the public turning against you, and personal proclivities becoming public and almost damning you.
[...] And by the way, I was looking at an old mugshot of mine recently, and there was a bit of sadness in my eyes. There’s nothing like getting sent up the river, but I was okay. You know, like Figueroa Slim would say, “They got me. They got me, because I was there to be got, and I wasn’t doing the right thing.” And this is life. This can happen in relationships. This can happen at a stop sign with a stranger in a car across from you. You never know.
[...] Some people do things that you think are abhorrent and very difficult to explain. Those outliers are the first people who won’t make it very far if they wind up in a correctional facility, and people find out what they did to get there. But in the larger sense of things, it’s just...that was my life. There was a genetic predisposition. A signal wire got tripped, and once you’ve burned neuropathways repeatedly, it’s no longer a behavior. But I also know this, which gives me great comfort—if you’re fucked up or come from a fucked up family, if you get through it, you’re going to have a better chance of pushing our society forward in some way. It’s just the way it is.
On Saturday Night Live and Anthony Michael Hall:
[...] I came through the Weird Science country academy because a bunch of us met up on that John Hughes film. I was like, “Oh wow, I had a part in that.” I was starting to get a little notice. And then, Michael Hall was doing bigger stuff and making creative decisions about what he wanted the next chapter of his career to be, and we became friends. In a way, he was my first Jon Favreau. He was someone who said to me, “I’m going to go do SNL. I’m going to get you an audition, and I bet you’re going to get yourself on the show too. They’ll be lucky to have us.”
[...] I learned so much in that year about what I wasn’t. I was not somebody who was going to come up with a catchphrase. I was not somebody who’s going to do impressions. I was somebody who was very ill-suited for rapid fire sketch comedy. I was not of that ilk of The Groundlings. I had never been part of an improv group. I was kind of like, “Wow, this seems really hard. A lot of work.” But to this day, I would still say that there’s not a more exciting 90 minutes you could have...whether you are any good or not. It’s just amazing.
[...] In the 90-minute moment, you get such validation not because you’re the standup guy, not because they’re not going to say later on that you were the worst cast member they ever had, which is another lie, but because it’s such a difficult thing to try to pull off. You get a lot of cred just for being able to participate in that real-time stress and excitement.
On life after Marvel:
[...] I had an incredible ten year run that was creatively satisfying. It was very hard work, and I dug very deep. At the same time, you always have to recognize that everything has a price and a downside. For me, it’s that I’ve had to up my game and my focus. Also, first and foremost, having a family. But I have not been forced to explore the new frontier of, “What is my creative and personal life after this?” For me, it’s always good to get ahead of where you’re about to be, because nothing really happens when it happens.
[...] it’s always in the transitions between one phase and the next where people fall apart. So, just as a matter of me wanting to be a fit father, husband, and citizen...you know, roughly in that order, you’ve got to put eyes down the road and say, “I’m being irresponsible if I don’t start figuring out what is after that.” So, part of it is that there’s a dependency.
[...] The first thing you learn in theater arts is aesthetic distance. I am not this play I’m doing. I’m not Will from Oklahoma. I’m not that cop in a detective story.  [...] So for me, it just translates to this: I’m not my work. I’m not what I did with that studio. I’m not that period of time that I spent playing this character.
[...] the good boy note is not that I want to do what’s expected of me, it’s that I listen to feedback, and while that’s not what guides my decision making process, I sometimes get a little daunted. People are like, “Well, now that he’s done with this Iron Man thing, we look forward to what he’s going to do next and see him get back to...” And I go, “Alright, wait a minute. Does the good boy revert back to something he was doing before that, because that’s what people...?” No, what do they really mean?
On Susan:
[...] You want to talk about validation, mentors, and people who have been with me at critical times. I mentioned some male directors. All of them together could not hold a candle to the power of partnership, when you find somebody and without meaning to you just get each other. And then, you cash in all your chips and say, “We’re going to do this difficult thing, which is called relationship building and being in the same industry.” All that stuff. But it’s the greatest mystery in life, you know. All creativity is about the right relationship.
[...] Between the two of us, there’s been this creative engine of dialogue and discussion. For me, just self-betterment, because she’s the only person in my entire life and career who I can nail it on a take, and I look over at the monitor, and she’s just like, “You had gum. Take your gum out,” or whatever. It’s not that she doesn’t give me validation. She doesn’t do what everyone else has done; she doesn’t think I need to be taken care of, validated, compensated for. I need to this and that.
[...] Here’s what I’ll say. This is it, dude. This is definitive. If anything, movies saved my life, because she saw me in Weird Science. And at the time, I had a space between my teeth, and she had a space between her teeth. We wound up both getting them filled in, because that’s what you did in the late ‘80s. Everybody had to get their gaps filled or nobody was going to like you. But she looked at me in Weird Science, and her first thought of me was, “Oh my god, he’s like me! He has a space between his teeth. It’s okay that I have a space between my teeth.”

Chapter 3 - The Millitary Campaign in Isaach
Part 2
Meanwhile, the Isaachian court was facing its own crisis, because King Mananan knew nothing about the attack on Darna until after it had happened.
And he knew that Grannvale wouldn't overlook an assault on one of its allied cities.
He ordered Trent, the leader of Rivough, to come to the castle and explain himself.
However, Trent, afraid for his safety, did not respond.
And so, King Mananan, leading his large army, marched to Rivough, and surrounded the castle.
But the castle gates were shut tight, and its defenses fortified.
Mananan rode up to the castle gate on his horse by himself, and yelled, "I have not come to fight, only to get an explanation from your leader! However, if he does not answer me, and you keep these gates shut, then I will have no choice but to attack! Please, listen to me! I will wait three days. Anyone who leaves during that time will be spared, no matter their crimes. After that, I will kill everyone left, even the women and children. Think carefully before you accuse me of bluffing. Is it worth sacrificing the lives of your innocent families? Even if it's just the women and children, get out of the castle!"
He was within their bowmen's range, but none of them tried to attack him.
That night, the gate opened, and a group of women and children walked out. Though the king’s army had enough space to invade, not one person moved.
-
On the morning of the second day, Mananan rode up to the castle again, this time with one of the women.
After he repeated his conditions, she said, "This is Ete! I’m safe, and so are the others, just like King Mananan promised. Please trust him."
That night, the castle gate opened again, and a large group of men came forward to surrender.
-
On the morning of the third day, Mananan rode up to the castle yet again, this time with one of the men.
"Today is the last day! You no longer have enough men to defend yourselves when we attack! I swear to you again that anyone who leaves by the end of the day tomorrow will be safe, no matter their crimes! But at sunrise, I will kill every last person left inside!" While he was speaking, Mananan noticed a man appear atop the castle wall, and draw an arrow.
'That's him! That's Trent!' He realized, but still did not move, and continued to speak. "Everyone, think carefully! What are you really going to die for? Is it for your family? Your country? Your honor? Or is it for the greed and whims of your leader?"
Trent shot an arrow shot straight at the gap between his eyes.
In the blink of an eye, Mananan unsheathed Balmung, the Holy Sword of Isaach's royal family. The arrow hit the blade, split into two pieces, and dropped to the ground."Did you see that, everyone? This is the power of Balmung! Do not throw your lives away so easily!" He said, turned his horse around, and returned to his army.
That day, from noon onwards, several men came out and surrendered, one-by-one.
Mananan asked one of them how many people were left inside, and he said that it was only Trent, his family, and a few mages.
That evening, he approached the castle yet again, and said, "Trent! Come out and listen to me!"
He waited for a moment, and just as he was about to repeat himself, Trent appeared atop the castle wall.
"What is it, King Mananan!?"
"Trent, you too are a respected leader of Isaach. I have no interest in tarnishing your family's reputation. Leave this castle tonight. I swear it on Crusader Od's legacy that I will spare your lives."
There was a long pause before Trent responded. "I thank you, King Mananan. Please take care of my family."
The castle gate opened, and about twenty people, a mix of men and women, stepped out.
Mananan took everyone back to where his army was stationed. Afterwards, he had Mariccle confirm who exactly was among the group. Trent, his wife, and his three children were missing.
-
The next day, Mananan led his soldiers up to the castle entrance, and opened the gate.
Upon walking inside, he saw Trent lying dead in front of the main building, with a sword sticking out of his chest. The corpses of his wife and three children were inside the building.
There was no questioning that it was a murder-suicide case.
"Find the mages." Mananan ordered, his expression grim.
However, the mages were nowhere to be found.
He found Trent's advisor, and asked about them.
The advisor said there had been three in total, and they'd begun working for Trent roughly one year ago.
However, he and the others in the castle hadn't seen them much, so he didn't know any details.
"They weren't members of the Loptyrian Cult, were they?" Mananan wondered.
"Now that you mention it, they might have been. I saw one of them carrying a black tome one day."
"What did Trent say before the attack on Darna?"
"That the mages had received a message from the gods. That if we attacked Darna, it would eventually lead to Grannvale's downfall."
'The mages must have deceived him.' Mananan thought.
He propped up Trent's body, and, as if the man was still alive, said, "Trent, no matter the reason for your actions, what you have done has triggered the fall of Isaach. You will pay for your sins with your life." Then, he sliced Trent's head off.
He wrapped the exposed neck in a cloth, ordered for Trent and his family to be given a proper burial, and called in the royal family's fortune teller, Gala.
She'd served his father before him, and been with him for twenty-five years, so she was already very old.
While her body had become old and frail, and her eyes had gone blind, her tongue was still as sharp as ever.
She entered the room with a guide, turned towards Mananan even though she could not see, and said, "Hold your horses, I'm comin'. They told me you needed me for something?"
"Yes, I want you to do a divination."
"I was well aware of that. That's all you ever ask me for. I know you don't wanna see this old, wrinkled face when you don't have to."
"That's not true at all…"
"It's fine. You should know not to take this old bag of bones too seriously. Now give me some time to get ready." She said, then sat cross-legged on the floor, and pulled out some incense burners and sticks from her bag.
"Somebody light these incense sticks and put them in the holders, then get out. We're gonna be talking about Isaach's deepest secrets here."
Once smoke was rising from all of the sticks, her guide left the room.
While the scent from the incense was faint at first, it became stronger and stronger, until it filled the room.
After some time, Gala's body suddenly began to shake.
The convulsions grew and grew in intensity. Just when it seemed like her body could not take any more, she stiffened and froze.
"Mananan, you plan to go to Darna and apologize to Grannvale, do you not?" Gala's voice was deeper, stronger, and clearly that of a man's.
Though he'd witnessed this scene time and time again, that only made it all the stranger to Mananan. "I do."
"If you go, then you will die."
"Are you telling me not to go?"
There was a long pause. "Even if you don't go, you will die. And not just you. Prince Mariccle will also die. Many of Isaach's citizens will die. Isaach may fall."
"Will Grannvale attack us?"
"Yes. An army of unfathomable size will attack. They will pillage… destroy… and kill…"
"Is there no way to save Isaach?"
Again, there was a long pause.
"Your grandson Shanan will be the one to do it. If you can prolong his life, he will rebuild Isaach."
"And how can I make sure he survives?"
"He must leave Isaach."
"Where should he go?"
"…" Gala's expression hardened.
"Answer me! Where should he go!?"
"The… country… of…"
"The country of what!?"
The…country… of…forests… and… lakes…"
"The country of forests and lakes?"
Gala nodded while gasping for air and beginning to shake again.
"Where is that?"
"…"
Mananan grabbed her shoulders in a futile attempt to stop the convulsions. "Tell me!? What country is it!?"
Gala was clearly trying her best. "V… Ver…" Was all she managed to say before her head suddenly slumped, and the convulsions stopped.
When Mananan took his hands off of her shoulders, she collapsed on the floor and stopped moving.
After serving the Isaachian royal family for three generations, she had given her life to warn the king of Isaach's own end.

From the I Love You prompts--#6? 💖
Hi Veronica, sorry it took me so long to answer this. I had finals to get through and then I couldn’t figure out for the life of me who I wanted to write this for… and then Tumblr ate my entire draft. Anyway, now might be a good time to introduce you, briefly,to Rissa and Ione? Thank you for your patience.
It was one of those especially bad headaches, the kind whereher skull felt too full of pressure and her mind too full of other people’s noise. Her temples felt like they might explode. But of course, they never did. She just had to deal with the debilitating pain from a cacophony no one else in her makeshift family could hear.
Ione was a telepath. Well, she hadn’t always been, but she was now. Telekinesis was one thing; she’d grown up with it, come to love its familiar presence in her life like an old friend. Telepathy, though, was a tricky beast; thirteen years on and she was still getting the hang of taming it.
She’d always been naturally quiet. She didn’t mind listeningfar more than she spoke and had no qualms with keeping secrets for the sake of her friends. She’d even come to appreciate her “seventh sense” at times. But there were days where there was simply too much chatter, too many voices, everything too fast, too loud. She imagined standing in the center of a train station built underground so it echoed with shouts and the force of the trains shook passerby to the core would be quieter than this. On days like this, she longed for the times when her own mind had been a place of muted refuge. Hers and no one else’s.
Somehow, Ione managed to get herself out of bed and ready for the day. She chose to spend the morning tending to the garden, something soothing. Soon, harvest time would grant them full baskets of home-grown vegetables and fruits. Half-blind from the pain, she navigated the garden mostly by memory, thinking about Rissa.
Her best friend and partner had been almost completely blinded in one eye over ten years before. It was around that time that Ione started to see, along with her comrades, how sadistic her employ (that being a generous term) could be, even to her own. It had been Siab Phem’s* cruelty and miscalculations that caused Rissa’s “punishment” to go so horribly wrong. Years later, Rissa could differentiate light from dark on her injured side and make out the outlines of larger shapes, but her level of remaining vision was at best ten percent of what she saw with her healthy eye. To her, the right side of the world always looked something like what Ione was seeing now.
With one sense largely diminished and another working overtime, it was no surprise that Ione ended up wandering away from her intended path. It was a surprise when she found herself doused in cold water. She’d stumbled directly into the “line of fire” Rissa created with her hyrdokenisis to water some of the sapling trees.
“Heads up Ione! Look out!” She guided her girlfriend behind a larger, sturdier growth before she finished the job. Returning to Ione’s side, she asked “What’s gotten into you?”
Even talking hurt. “Headache, bad. Can’t see very well.”
“Can’t see very well, you say? Well, that makes two of us.”
She tried to laugh at the joke but wasn’t sure she managed it.
“Where were you trying to go, huh?”
“Toward where the squash and beans are growing.”
“Oh, that’s not far. You just went left instead of right. C’mon.” Gently taking Ione’s elbow, she started back towards her earlier path.
“How do you know to go right when you can’t see exactly where right is?”
“By smell. Everything’s ripened up now, so its easy. Maybe I’ll put a blindfold on you sometime and see how you do.” She gave a playful shove, gentle, but still enough that Ione whimpered.
“Oh damn it! I’m sorry! Come here” she pulled the other close to her, wrapped her in a safe hug. Ione buried her face in Rissa’s neck and tried to breathe deeply.
“How bad this time?”
“The worst its been since we came here.”
The escape from such a toxic environment and the chance to rebuild a place for their own had wonderous effects on Ione’s mental health. Well, that was true for all of them. Rissa’s and Aris’ minds seemed better than they had in years. Rissa no longer felt that she was broken. The bitter anger was still there, of course it was, but it spent more time on the backburner of her thoughts these days. Aris found it easier to believe there was goodness in her, that she deserved happiness. Her apprentice, Katri, was no longer so fearful.
Rissa made a sympathetic noise. “We’ll fix you up, I promise. I’m gonna help you, just hang in there for me, raindrop.” A common pet name among hydrokinetics, it was one of many affectionate names Rissa had for her. A large water bubble enveloped the two of them as they hugged. It acted as a sound barrier, muffling  sound in the same way as being underwater in a pool or lake. It was a technique Rissa had perfected long ago, back in the early days when things were so bad, Ione hardly slept. She rocked them and brushed noses, just waiting. She would give Ione as long as she needed.
In addition to being comforting, the physical contact helped Ione focus on Rissa’s internal happenings as opposed to the raucous noise of everyone else. She relaxed almost instantly; Rissa’ s mind was a comforting place whose paths she knew well. The familiar tone of her internal monologue was soothing. Much like the ocean she loved so much, Rissa’s thoughts always had a rhythm to them, quite a bit of depth. Things could change from stillness to tumultuous tides in a snap, but Rissa was working very hard to send messages of calm, images that were restful. Getting lost in the “waves” felt natural as Rissa showed her one of her favorite places. It must have been an old memory, from her early years as a marine biologist. In it, Rissa still had her full sight, the characteristic black triangle that now blotted out most of her awareness on the right side wasn’t there. They were on a dive, checking the status of a coral reef. A beautiful kaleidoscope of colors passed by as the fish who made the reef their nursery came out to investigate Rissa’s presence. It was the sort of quiet you could never get on land. Rissa’s feelings of love for the water and her work came through strongly in the memory. Ione was touched; Rissa wanted to share one of her deepest joys with her.She let Rissa know she was finished in the usual way: a kiss.
*Siab Phem is a Constellan term translating roughly to “evil incarnate.” This is what Ari, Rissa, and Ione call the villain they were under for decades. For them, it takes the power away from her real name

THEY CAN ALL BE ONE OF YOUR GLORIES, BUT THEY CANNOT BE THE DEFINITION OF YOU. *DEFINITION OF YOU IS IN WHICH STATE YOU FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU. IN WHICH STATE YOU FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU IS ALL THAT MATTERS. DO YOU FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU SLEEPING ALL THE TIME? DO YOU FEEL VERY CUTE ABOUT YOUR DREAM STATE? OR DO YOU FEEL VERY CUTE ABOUT YOUR AWAKENED STATE? DO YOU FEEL VERY CUTE ABOUT YOUR ALIVE, ALL POWERFUL STATE? *STOP WASTING YOUR ENERGY IN MAKING THE WORLD FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU. *THE WHOLE WORLD IS FRUSTRATED! NOBODY FEELS CUTE ABOUT THEMSELVES. When does old age begin? (Part 1 of Your Brain at 100 series)
This is part 1 of a series examing lessons in brain health learned from our elders — those folk who lived the longest and healthiest.
We’ve living longer, but how do our aging brains fare?
To answer this question, I’ve looked to two sources — those exceptionally old folks who remain in robust physical and mental health till the very end of their lives, and our evolutionary past.
Over millennia, Mother Nature equipped us to survive and thrive in the wild. Our brains evolved such that from womb to the tomb we’re required to move, eat well, sleep, immerse ourselves in nature, avoid stress, love and befriend, and seek meaning. These requirements neatly map onto the principles of everyday life followed by the world’s longest living people.
    When does old age begin?
We can’t seem to make up our minds, and the older we get, the further we move the goalposts marking the last season of our lives.
A 2009 survey of Americans asked participants when they believed someone grew ‘old’.
Young folks in their twenties believed said old age began at 60. Those under 50 put the threshold closer to 70, whereas those 65 and above said that the average person does not become old until turning 74.
Getting old wasn’t nearly as bad as people think it will be. Nor was it quite as good.
On the downside, one in four adults ages 65 surveyed reported memory loss. One in five had a serious illness, are no longer sexually active, or often feel sad or depressed, lonely or have trouble paying bills. One in ten felt like a burden.
On the upside, the same group said they have more time for hobbies, travel, volunteer work, and more financial security. Of all the good things about getting old, the best by far, according to older adults, is being able to spend more time with family members.
“Am I Old? Certainly not!”
One of my boys said to me recently he couldn’t imagine me as a little girl and how did it feel to finally be “old”. I told him I feel the same now as I did when I was 10.
“Am I Old? Certainly not!” This was the answer survey respondents gave too.
In fact, the older they got, the younger they said they feel. About half of those under 30 said they felt their age. But those who were 75 and older? Just 35% say they feel “old”.
It seems we remain on intimate terms with our much younger selves — I sometimes wonder how ten-year old me suddenly became forty-three?
We enter the end of our lifespan with our past woven intimately into our biology.
From birth, our neural architecture is shaped by life’s ups and downs, the decisions we made, the places where we lived, worked and learned, the meaning we’ve derived, and who we loved, gave life to, and travelled with through time. How we spend our early years will determine how we age.
More and more of us are living to into old age, and there has never been a better time in which to do so. Our large clever human brains have bequeathed us with modern medicine and tools with which we manage our reproductive health, avoid maternal and neonatal death, vaccinate against disease, prevent pain, treat infection and some cancers, and perform surgery if required.
One hundred years ago, women lived barely long enough to see out their 50s. A baby girl born today can expect to live to see out the first decades of the 22nd century.
Uncovering the secrets of exceptional longevity
On February 21, 1875, one year before the Alexander Graham Bell filed his patent for the telephone, a baby girl, Jeanne Louise Calment was born in Arles, France. She was alive to witness the invention of the aeroplane, cinema, and on a trip to Paris saw the Eiffel tower being built. When she was 13, Jeanne met Vincent Van Gogh; although apparently, she was less than impressed saying he was ”…very ugly, ungracious, impolite, sick…”.
In 1997, the same year Princess Diana died, Calment finally passed away. She was 122 years and 164 days old. Although blind, almost deaf, and confined to a wheelchair, Calment reportedly remained spirited and “alert as a hummingbird” till the end. The French called her “la doyenne de l’humanitè” (the elder of humankind) and she still holds the record for the world’s longest ever living human (although this has been recently challenged).
In April 2017, the latest longevity record holder, Emma Martina Luigia Morano of Vercelli, Italy, died aged 117. Born in November 1899, Morano was the last known living person who was born in the 1800s. According to the Guinness Book of Records, Morano followed the same extraordinary diet for around 90 years: three eggs per day (two raw, one cooked), fresh Italian pasta, and a dish of raw meat. The current longevity crown belongs to Polish Holocaust survivor Israel Kristal, who celebrated his 113th birthday in September 2017.
Once rare as diamonds, the oldest of the old are the fastest growing sector of our global population.
If you were born in 1900, the odds of living till age 100 were less than 1 in a million, and few people lived long enough see out the 1950s. For girls born into wealthy countries today, the odds of blowing out 100 candles on a cake are roughly 1 in 50.
Israel Kristal claims he doesn’t know the secret of his long life.
I believe that everything is determined from above and we shall never know the reasons why. There have been smarter, stronger and better-looking men then me who are no longer alive. All that is left for us to do is to keep on working as hard as we can and rebuild what is lost.
When asked her secrets, Jeanne Calment attributed her longevity to immunity to stress and a good attitude,
I wasn’t afraid of anything. I was often reproached for that … I took pleasure when I could, I acted clearly and morally and without regret. I’m very lucky.
Calment reportedly ate more than two pounds of chocolate a week, treated her skin with olive oil, rode a bicycle until she was 100, and only quit smoking when she was 117 because she became too proud to ask someone else to light her cigarettes. Known for her wit, she is widely reported as saying,
I’ve never had but one wrinkle, and I’m sitting on it.
Hard work, raw eggs, biking, and no regrets. We clamour to learn their secrets, and typically the oldest of the old love to share their long-won wisdom. Calment once quipped.
I wait. For death and journalists.
Blue Zones lessons for longevity
In another longevity project, National Geographic writer Dan Buettner together Professor Michel Poulain famously described five ‘Blue Zones’ around the globe where the residents live to exceptional old age. Despite being very different parts of the world, there are commonalities to the resident’s lifestyles.
Their longevity has nothing to do with brute discipline, diets, exercise programs or supplements… In Blue Zones areas around the world, longevity happens to people. It’s the result of the right environment that constantly nudges them into moving more, eating more plants and beans while eating less meat and sugar, socializing with the right people and living out their values. It’s that simple, really.
Residents of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica, prioritise friendship and family, and they almost never work extra hours if it means they have to forego a good party. They also foster ‘plan de vida’ or ‘a reason to live’.
In Loma Linda, California, the strong sense of purpose, day of rest, no-smoking policy, and healthy diet practices of the local Seventh Day Adventist community has rubbed off on the health of the whole town.
Residents of the mountainous villages of Sardinia, Italy and the Greek island of Ikaria, nap, fast, grow their own food, and drink wine daily with friends. It’s thought the clean air, warm breezes and rugged terrain of the Mediterranean islands draw locals outdoors to move naturally.
The residents of the Japanese islands of Okinawa, home to the world’s longest living women, are dedicated to family. Okinawans practice ‘Hara hachi bu’, a reminder to stop eating when they’re 80% full, ‘Ikigai’, which roughly translates to “Why I wake up in the morning,” and form ‘Moais’, groups of five friends that remain committed to each other for live.
Buettner has distilled the lifestyle practices of Blue Zones into lessons for longevity. As he says, to make it to 100 you may have to “win the genetic lottery”, but the average person’s life expectancy can be increased by moving move, prioritising friends, family and social gatherings, eating less, drinking wine, and fostering a sense of purpose.
Sydney Centenarian Study lessons for longevity
Due to the rarity of extremely old folks, the Sydney Centenarian Study has partnered with a consortium of centenarian research teams from around the globe to pool their resources and data to enable more powerful conclusions to be drawn. Their data support the Blue Zones observations.
Charlene Levitan, who once headed up the Sydney Centenarian Study says,
What is emerging from the global research is that around 30% of longevity is contributed by genetics. The remaining 70% is to do with our lifestyle, which includes a healthy diet, exercise, and remaining socially integrated.
One of the strongest themes to emerge is related to the personality traits of resilience, adaptability and optimism.
Most of our centenarians will report optimism as a life-long personality characteristic.
This is an excerpt from my book The Women’s Brain Book.

The 5 players who matter most in the AL Central
From young players to crusty veterans, here are the most important players to their team in 2017.
Hello, and welcome back to my series, “A division-by-division tour that allows me to avoid writing daily 1,000-word features that roughly translate to, ‘Look, it’s only April, I don’t know.’” The idea is that these individual players work as a proxy for their entire teams — as these players go, so go their teams.
If you think it’s a stupid concept, note that I selected Jarrett Parker for my pick for the Giants, and both he and his team are struggling. Also, if you don’t like the idea, give me some time. It’s only April. My columns can get better. Small sample.
Anyway, here are the canaries in the coal mine for every team in the AL Central:
Detroit Tigers - Jordan Zimmermann
The Tigers are the Angels in a different stage of the cycle of franchise life. There is no sense in rebuilding, not when Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander are both excellent, not when Justin Upton and Anibal Sanchez are untradeable, and not when Ian Kinsler has the power to demand a contract extension with every trade. This is a franchise that has nothing to lose by giving it the ol’ college try one last time.
Here, look at the cover of their 2017 yearbook:
Exactly. That might be an artist’s conception, but who’s to say in this topsy-turvy digital age? It’s the perfect slogan. The roster the Tigers have built is a roster that absolutely could work. Question mark. Without much of a minor-league system to deal, and with the budget tapped, this is the roster they’re charging forward with. Totally defensible.
In this not-all-in-but-not-even-a-little-bit-out mode, they’ll need some players to do better. Justin Upton, for example. Not sure who thought that would be a good move.
Uh, give me one second ...
Look, it doesn’t matter. Upton was a win-now player with enough youth to be a little win-later, and he’ll need to hit.
The Tigers have other hitters, though. Jordan Zimmermann is who gives them a chance to be the challenger the Indians aren’t really expecting. Now that Justin Verlander has established that he’s still one of the most fearsome pitching machines in circulation, the Tigers have a chance to throw a Verlander/Zimmermann/Michael Fulmer front three at the world, with reasonable options in the fourth and fifth slots.
The catch is that Zimmermann has to be good. He certainly can be. From 2011 through 2015, he averaged 194 innings, with a 3.14 ERA (123 ERA+). That’s not just okay or making do. That’s exceptional. The Tigers were right to prefer him and an extra $100 million to David Price. It’s far too easy to forget how good players were when they suffer one down season.
It’s also far too easy to have one down season stretch into two, and two down seasons turning into three, and suddenly you’re Matt Cain. How Zimmermann bounces back directly affects what the Tigers will do this year. You knew that already, but the difference between 85 wins and 90 wins and a team you don’t want to face in the postseason might be in one player’s hands.
Kansas City Royals - Alex Gordon
The Royals of 2018 will not resemble the Royals of 2015. The three offseasons that will have separated them might as well be geological epochs, slowly but dramatically reshaping the landscape. The beloved championship team will be remembered in t-shirts and posters, bobbleheads and Blu-rays.
And there Alex Gordon will be, waving.
This is the offseason of reckoning for the Royals, with Eric Hosmer, Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, Mike Moustakas, and Jason Vargas free agents to be. Maybe I didn’t need to italicize the “and” on that last sentence, but you get the point. If the era of contending Royals baseball is going to continue, it’s going to look a lot different.
And there Alex Gordon will be, waving.
What Gordon’s success would do, then would work to soothe the Royals on two fronts. First, it would make them feel better about their 2017 season, ostensibly because he would help them win baseball games and stay relatively close in the AL Central. Second, he would make them feel better about the radical realignment of their entire roster.
“Sure, we have this dented Ian Kennedy, and, wow, totally forgot we signed Jason Hammel, but we also have Good Ol’ Alex. He’ll never leave us.”
The early returns are not encouraging, as Gordon has a 492 OPS. But Hosmer has a 493 OPS, so maybe they’re in some sort of race? Regardless, Gordon’s success is the rare two-way bellwether. He can make the Royals feel better about the present and future. And he can also, well, you know.
Cleveland Indians - Tyler Naquin
The Indians aren’t a perfect team, but they’re devoid of major holes when they’re healthy. The rotation is fantastic. The bullpen is solid, and that’s underselling it. And if Francisco Lindor is a superplayer now, as he appears to be, the lineup will be, uh, super.
The defense is an open question, though. They’re projected to have an above-average defense according to FanGraphs, with a lot of help coming from Lindor, but I’m not sure if that factored in Carlos Santana’s adventures in right field. There will be days with Santana in right and the mending Michael Brantley in right, and defensive stats are lukewarm on both of them, which is a nicer way of saying they hate them. They’ll need a strong defensive center fielder on those days.
So best of luck, Tyler Naquin? He’s miscast as a center fielder in the majors, and it was noticeable in the postseason, with some rough moments coming under national lights. It’s possible that was a hiccup, as he’s logged 322 games in center in the minors, so he’s not exactly learning on the job. Still, the Indians would love to supplement their troika of aces with a waterbug outfield, and that’s not possible. The next option is to have a strong center fielder be the anchor for the entire outfield, and that’s not possible.
That leaves hoping that Naquin can either a) surprise defensively or b) hit enough to make them not care. Austin Jackson will help them feel better every few games, but that doesn’t take the pressure entirely off Naquin. If he’s not hitting or fielding, look for some weird ERAs and W-L records from that vaunted front three. If he’s doing both, the Indians are probably rolling.
Minnesota Twins - You cannot possibly expect me to separate Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton
They are one. They are intertwined by the skein of baseball’s fates, super prospects who aren’t prospects anymore, who could both lead the Twins to unimaginable heights or unthinkable failures.
It’s possible that Jason Castro isn’t Joey Votto now and that Ervin Santana’s ERA will creep above 1.00 at some point, so I’m not sure if they’re likely to keep contending in 2017. If that’s the case, they’ll need both Sano and Buxton to help them feel good about the future. More than almost any other pair of young players on a rebuilding team, the two have the potential to make their team feel great about the future. They just need to play well. Simple!
The situations are different, of course. We already know Sano can demolish baseballs, and that he’s capable of being a perennial All-Star, if not a 500-homer threat. The question is if he can hit enough to allow the Twins to ignore his defensive shortcomings. When Miguel Cabrera gets into the Hall of Fame, you’re not going to hear a lot of “Yeah, but his defense” grumbling. It’s unfair to compare anyone to Cabrera, but that gives you a pretty good idea of Sano’s potential, as well as what he’ll need to come close to if his lack of a true position is never resolved.
Or he could get better at third base and stay there for a decade, making us forget he was ever a liability in the first place. He’s just 24, after all.
Buxton is hitting a distinctly un-nice .069, with 17 strikeouts in 29 at-bats, and while he’s just 23, that’s right around the age where you can’t assume everything will be fixed with additional experience. He’s a defensive titan, so it’s not like the Twins are hurting themselves by running him out there, but they would sure feel better if he proved that he wasn’t somewhere between Joe Borchard and Cameron Maybin on the tools-to-realization spectrum.
If both of them turn into All-Stars this year, the Twins do have a non-zero chance of contending after all. More importantly, though, the future will have a distinct, legible road map.
Chicago White Sox - Jose Quintana
Because if he’s hurt or on the Dallas Keuchel path to enigma town, the White Sox surrrrrrrre screwed up.
Is it too early to worry about that? Of course it is! Two starts, two schmarts. Velocity’s good. He’s still left-handed. A substantial back catalog of excellent starts. I want my team to trade for him right now.
At the same time, this is the future for the White Sox. Once they decided they weren’t going to chase the rainbow dreams of a Chris Sale/Quintana/Carlos Rodon future, they wholly committed to the idea of rebuilding. That idea includes trading someone like Quintana for all the prospects, including that one. They decided to slow-play it, though, possibly because they weren’t enamored of the packages the Astros and Cardinals were offering, which is perfectly understandable and fine.
It’s just a strategy that came with risks. This isn’t a new idea, and the White Sox aren’t discovering these risks right now. But that’s what makes Quintana the easy pick to determine how their 2017 season is going. Because it’s supposed to be a bridge season, anyway. How Quintana does determines if the White Sox are getting steel girders or duct tape for that bridge.
Could you build a bridge entirely out of duct tape? Like, a functional bridge that could handle 40 or 50 cars at a time? In theory, of course. Let’s say this theoretical bridge would have to last only one week. Is that possible? How many rolls would it take?
I think I just ruined my own day.
Anyway, the entire season of White Sox baseball hinges on Quintana being as good as he can be, which would lead to the team getting the prospects who are as good as can get. (Todd Frazier is here, too, just on a much lesser scale.)

4 SEPTEMBER 2020 II 8.05 PM, IST II NITHYANANDA SATSANG GIST IN ENGLISH II *PARAMASHIVA’S MESSAGE DIRECTLY FROM KAILASA: *INTENSE WILL PERSISTENCE RAISES YOU FROM YOUR WAKEFUL STATE (JAGRAT) TO AWAKENED STATE, AND FROM AWAKENED STATE TO ALIVE STATE. *THERE ARE 5 STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS: WAKING STATE (JAGRAT) WHICH ALL OF YOU ARE NOW IN BELOW THIS WAKING STATE IS THE DREAM STATE (SWAPNA) BELOW THE SWAPNA STATE IS THE DEEP SLEEP STATE (SUSHUPTI) ABOVE THE WAKING STATE IS THE AWAKENED STATE (TURIYA) AND FINALLY THE ALIVE STATE (TURIYATITA) *THESE 5 LEVELS OF STATES OF YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS IS YOUR LIFE. *INTENSELY AWAKENED STATE LEADS TO THE ALIVE STATE (TURIYATITA) IN YOU. *NEITHER WHAT YOU CONSIDER AS EXTERNAL ACHIEVEMENTS, NOR THE EXTERNAL CAPABILITIES CAN DEFINE YOU. WHY WILL THEY FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU? JUST DUMP THE SHIT OF PUTTING ENERGY, TIME, TREASURE, TALENT IN MAKING PEOPLE FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU! *DECIDE IN WHICH STATE YOU FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU, THAT'S ALL IS LIFE! *LET YOUR TASTE GET MATURED. *YOUR TASTE - IN WHICH STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS YOU FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU , SHOULD GET MATURED. *IN THE INITIAL STAGE, YOU FEEL VERY CUTE ABOUT SLEEP. ROLLING ON YOUR BED IS LIKE ANGAPRADAKSHINA (SACRED CIRCUMAMBULATION). OR THE DREAM STATE WHERE YOU FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU. THAT IS WHY LAZINESS IS NOT PART OF YOUR LIFE, BUT PART AND PARCEL OF YOUR LIFE! IT IS A LIFESTYLE. *A MATURED PERSON IS A PERSON WHO FEELS CUTE ABOUT HIS HIGHER STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS. EVEN IF IT IS JUST FEW MINUTES, IF YOU FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOUR AWAKENED AND ALIVE STATE, IT IS ENOUGH. *WHENEVER I SIT FOR MY MORNING PUJA, I FEEL SO CUTE ABOUT ME. I WILL TELL YOU EXACTLY HOW I FEEL IN MY PUJA: I FEEL LIKE ME, SITTING IN THIS BODY AND AS PARAMASHIVA. IT IS BOTH ME. WORSHIPPING, CELEBRATING MY OWN EXISTENCE. MY VYAKTA, MANIFEST IS WORSHIPPING MY UNMANIFEST, AVYAKTHA. *MY PART IS WORSHIPPING MY WHOLE. SO I WILL SIT SOMETIMES EVEN 5 - 6 HOURS EVEN UNTIL NOW. I WILL SIT CASUALLY, ONE BY ONE, I WILL TALK TO EACH GOD ELABORATELY. MORE THAN THE IDEA THAT IT IS EACH GOD, THEY ARE MANIFESTATIONS OF PARAMASHIVA! *THE 5 STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS: THE PERMUTATION AND COMBINATION OF THESE 5 STATES LEAD TO ANOTHER 25 STATES. BUT THESE 5 ARE THE BASIC UNIQUE STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS. *YOUR CONCEPT OF LIFE, DEATH, SEX, WEALTH, PURPOSE OF LIFE, GOAL OF LIFE, METHOLODOLOGY OF LIFE - EVERYTHING CHANGES BASED ON THE STATE YOU START CELEBRATING YOUR EXISTENCE. *IF YOU CELEBRATE YOUR DREAM STATE AS THE BEST WAY OF EXISTENCE, THEN MORE AND MORE YOU WILL BE ADDICTED TO DRUGS AND PORNOGRAPHY. THIS DELUSION INDUCING LIFESTYLE. *YOU WILL GET MORE AND MORE ADDICTED TO DELUSION INDUCING PRODUCTS, GOODS, SERVICES, PORN AND DRUGS. DON’T THINK IT IS A COINCIDENCE. BOTH OF THEM ARE ALWAYS TOGETHER. BOTH ARE DREAM INDUCING. BOTH INDUCE THE SAME KIND OF STATE - DRUGS AND PORNOGRAPHY. THE STATE YOU ENJOY DECIDES THE PRODUCTS, THE LIFESTYLE, THE PURPOSE, THE GOAL - ALL THESE YOU ARE GOING TO ENTERTAIN AND ENGAGE IN YOUR LIFE. *THE PERSON WHO ENJOYS HIS DREAM AND DEEP SLEEP STATE CAN NEVER TOLERATE NEEM JUICE AND CASTOR OIL. IF YOU START ENJOYING NEEM JUICE AND CASTOR OIL, YOUR BODY WILL NEVER LET YOU ENJOY DEEP SLEEP AND DREAM STATE. *YOUR BODY WILL LET YOU ENJOY MAXIMUM HOW MUCH YOU NEED. MAXIMUM 3 - 4 HOURS SLEEP. *IF YOU TAKE REGULARLY, THESE FEW HERBS ATI MADHURAM NEEM JUICE CASTOR OIL MALIC ACID YOU DON'T NEED 3 - 4 HOURS OF DREAM STATE. *ATI MADHURAM AND MALIC ACID REBUILD YOUR MUSCLES SO POWERFULLY. YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM WILL BE SO ALIVE. *I INSIST AT LEAST ALL MY DISCIPLES TO ADD THESE FEW ITEMS IN YOUR FOOD DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY. EVEN IF YOU CAN'T TAKE NEEM JUICE, TAKE NEEM TABLETS WHICH ARE ORGANIC. *YOU WILL SEE THAT THE QUALITY OF YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS STARTS RAISING. FOOD IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE QUALITY OF YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS. *I AM WORKING IN A LARGE SCALE, ORGANISING ALL THE ANCIENT SCRIPTURES MY GURU TAUGHT ME ON THIS ALCHEMY SCIENCE. *HINDUS HAVE A GREAT THING TO CONTRIBUTE TO HUMANITY. *THE ALCHEMY SCIENCE OF THE VARIOUS STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS IS UNIQUE TO HINDU TRADITION. JUST BY HERBS, THE HIGHER STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS IS INDUCED IN YOU, NOT DRUGS! *THROUGH PURE MEDITATION AND HERBS, THE HIGHER STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS IS INDUCED IN YOU, AND WHATEVER YOU SEE IN THE HIGHER STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS WILL DIRECTLY MANIFEST IN YOU AS POWERS. *I ALREADY HAVE A LIST OF MY SANYASIS WHO ARE DOCTORS AND THE FIRST CIRCLE OF DEVOTEES AND DISCIPLES, SITTING AND DOCUMENTING ALL THE HAPPENINGS. *ATI MADHURAM MAKES YOU SO ENERGETIC. I AM ALREADY LIKE A HYPER BABY. WITH ATI MADHURAM WHAT WILL HAPPEN?! *EVEN IF I REST FOR 2 - 3 HOURS, MY TEAM KNOWS SOME BIG 6 - 7 PROJECTS ARE GOING TO BE DOWNLOADED AND REVEALED TO THEM! *WEALTH IS ALL ABOUT THE TIME YOU SPEND IN HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS. IN HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS YOU JUST KNOW HOW TO WORK WITH THE SYSTEM. WHETHER YOU WANT TO HAVE MONEY, HAVE WEALTH, INFLUENCE OF ANYTHING, YOU JUST KNOW THE SIMPLE STRAIGHT METHODOLOGY. *THE STRENGTH OF HINDUS IS THEIR ABILITY TO RETAIN THE HIGHER STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS FOR MORE NUMBER OF HOURS PER DAY. THAT IS WHY ANYWHERE THEY GO, HINDUS ARE THE RICHEST ETHNIC COMMUNITY. *EVERYDAY START SLEEPING WITH THE WET TOWEL ON THE STOMACH. EVEN THAT WILL HELP YOU IN A BIG WAY TO LIVE IN HIGHER STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS. EITHER KEEP ICE CUBES OR WET TOWEL ON YOUR STOMACH BEFORE YOU FALL ASLEEP AND DON'T EAT ANYTHING AFTER SUNSET. *IF YOU FOLLOW THIS, THE RAISE IN YOUR SUPERCONSCIOUSNESS WILL HAPPEN. *I WANT THE HUMAN BEINGS WHO START LIVING IN THE AWAKENED STATE - TURIYA, AND ALIVE STATE - TURIYATITA THE WHOLE DAY - ONLY THOSE KIND OF PEOPLE I WANT AS VIDYESHWARAS, MANTRESWARAS, LOKESHWARAS, ASTRESHWARAS, MINISTERS, E-DIPLOMATS. *THAT IS WHY I AM TEACHING THIS SCIENCE CONTINUOUSLY SO THAT YOU CAN BECOME PART OF KAILASA ADMINISTRATION. *EVERY ACTION I DO, EVERY SATSANG I AM GIVING, I HAVE A REASON! *I AM SERIOUSLY LOOKING FOR THE PEOPLE WHO WILL BE PART OF KAILASA ADMINISTRATION, KAILASA GOVERNMENT. *KAILASA GOVERNMENT HAS HUGE RESPONSIBILITY OF ORGANISING AND ADMINISTERING THE RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL NEEDS OF THE WHOLE WORLD, ESPECIALLY FOCUSSING ON THE 2 BILLION (200 CRORE) HINDUS. IT IS A HUGE RESPONSIBILITY! *BORN AND PRACTISING HINDUS, I ROUGHLY CALCULATE AS 2 BILLION ALL OVER THE WORLD. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPORT ALL THE SPIRITUAL AND RELIGIOUS NEEDS IN A VERY ORGANIZED WAY. *IT IS A LARGE SCALE WORK! SO WE NEED PEOPLE WHO ARE VERY VERY VERY ACTIVE AND ALIVE 24X7, WHO WANT TO HELP HUMAN BEINGS, WHO WANT TO ENRICH THE WORLD. *I AM ALSO SEGREGATING THE KAILASA PROJECT INTO SECULAR NATURE AND SPIRITUAL NATURE. *SPIRITUAL NATURE: TEACHING POWERFUL COGNITIONS AND HELPING PEOPLE MANIFEST POWERS. *SECULAR NATURE: BUILDING WEBSITE, RAISING THE ORGANISATION STRUCTURE, MAKING ENTITIES ALL OVER THE WORLD. ALL THESE ARE SECULAR NATURE WORK WHICH CAN BE DONE EVEN BY THE EMPLOYED PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR SALARY - THE RECRUITED PEOPLE. *BUT THE SPIRITUAL WORK CAN BE DONE ONLY BY SANYASIS OR THE FULL TIME DEDICATED KAILAYAVASIS. I AM EVOLVING A VERY POWERFUL LONG TERM STRUCTURE. *WE NEED LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO EXPERIENCE AWAKENED AND ALIVE STATES - SANYASIS AND GRIHASTHA; FULL TIME KAILAYAVASIS TO DO THE SPIRITUAL WORK. MANDUKYA UPANISHAD, 7TH VERSE SAYS: शान्तं शिवमद्वैतं चतुर्थं मन्यन्ते स आत्मा स विज्ञेयः ŚĀNTAṂ ŚIVAMADVAITAṂ CATURTHAṂ MANYANTE SA ĀTMĀ SA VIJÑEYAḤ TRANSLATION - THE TURIYA IS THE STATE OF PEACE, STATE OF SHIVA, STATE OF ONENESS. THAT IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE STATE OF TURIYA. THAT IS THE REAL SELF. IT HAS TO BE REALIZED, EXPERIENCED. *WE NEED MORE AND MORE PEOPLE WHO REALIZE THIS STATE, WHO ARE WORKING ON THIS STATE, WHO DEVELOP TASTE FOR THIS STATE, TO ADMINISTER KAILASA. *I WANT ALL THE APAT SANYASIS, BRAHMACHARIS, BRAHMACHARINIS, BALASANTS WHO WANT TO BE PART OF THIS SPIRITUAL ADMINISTRATION, TO START PRACTISING WHEREVER YOU ARE AS ON NOW. WE CAN HIRE AND WE CAN EVEN FRANCHISE. *BUT THE SPIRITUAL WORK WE CAN’T FRANCHISE, WE CAN'T HIRE. *WE REALLY REALLY REALLY NEED THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO TASTE THIS TURIYA AND TURIYATITA STATE TO BE PART OF THE HINDU PARLIAMENT AND ADMINISTER KAILASA - THE SPIRITUAL NEEDS OF HINDUS. *THESE 3 BOOKS ARE GOING TO BE THE BASIC INTRODUCTION BOOKS: 108 UPANISHAD COMPILED BY SRI RAMA CHANDRA PRABHU BHAGAVAD GITA COMPILED BY SRI KRISHNA BRAHMASUTRAS COMPILED BY VYASA *THESE 3 ARE GOING TO FORM THE BASIS, INTRODUCTION BOOKS OF KAILASA. *ALL THE 3 ARE ROOTED AND CENTERED ON VEDAS AND AGAMAS. THESE 3 ARE THE INTRODUCTION TO KAILASA AND HINDUISM. *WE NEED LARGE PEOPLE WHO EXPERIENCE THIS SCIENCE SO THAT IT CAN BE SHARED WITH THE WORLD. *NATION BUILDING CAN BE DONE BY HIRED STAFF, BUT ENLIGHTENED CIVILIZATION BUILDING CAN BE DONE ONLY BY ENLIGHTENED BEINGS. *KAILASA HAS 2 LAYERS: ENLIGHTENED CIVILIZATION AND NATION. *FROM THE TIME I AM BORN, I AM WORKING ON REVIVING THE ENLIGHTENED CIVILIZATION, AND LAST 26 YEARS, FROM THE AGE OF 16, I AM WORKING ON REVIVING THE KAILASA NATION. *KAILASA - THE NATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE, CAN BE BUILT EVEN BY THE HIRED PEOPLE. *BUT KAILASA - THE ENLIGHTENED CIVILIZATION CAN BE BUILT ONLY BY PEOPLE WHO EXPERIENCE TURIYA AND TURIYATITA WITHIN THEMSELVES. *SO STOP FEELING, STOP WORKING TO MAKE OTHERS FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU. STOP EXPECTING TO MAKE OTHERS FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU. FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOUR OWN TURIYA AND TURIYATITA STATE. WORK FOR THAT. STOP WORKING, STOP FEELING, STOP EXPECTING THAT OTHERS SHOULD FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU. NO! DON’T WASTE TIME! *ALL THE HUMAN BEINGS ARE SO FRUSTRATED IN NECK DEEP SHIT. THEY DON'T FEEL CUTE EVEN ABOUT THEMSELVES, WHY WILL THEY FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOU? *DUMP THE OPINION OF OTHERS. YOU DECIDE TO FEEL CUTE ABOUT YOUR HIGHER STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS, AND START RAISING YOUR STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL ACHIEVE THE ULTIMATE.
